Haddonfield is overrated

Let me start by saying this may sound like bait but I'm being completely honest and just want to know your guys thoughts. I honestly don't think Haddonfield should be as legendary as it is. I definitely was the best survivor map when it came out but nowadays so many more good maps are out that Haddonfield just seems really outdated as a survivor-sided map. Basically all of the good house loops + more amazing ones are on Badham and the map is even structured in a way that makes it harder for the killer to traverse. In general I feel that Badham is just a better Haddonfield especially cuz some of the pallets on Haddonfield can be pretty weak.

Even then I still think that Gideon is better than Haddonfield now and probably even Ormond in my opinion. Let me know what you guys think of Haddonfield and if you think it's still amazingly strong.

  • If anything it's underrated. Whenever I hear that map mentioned it's with spite. I love it and always find myself in the position of defending it.

I don't mean to generalize here (I know that there are an infinite number of whiny survivors, trust me) but sometimes I wonder if killer mains just don't like walls and want every map to be a giant open field.

  • What makes Haddonfield so atrocious is the jumps out of the building. There is usually no way to do anything to catch up but manually go through the window while slow as ######### and can't get bloodlust because of it. If they made it so there was a door a few steps away, no one would complain. Its those damn windows.

Badham streets are okayish and shack is a fair loop. Haddonfield is 10x worse imo.

Gideon is not that bad depending what killer you are, Haddonfield is bad for almost every killer except Hag and Trapper. Ormond is balanced.

Gideon is bad if the survivor know the location of pallet and know how to loop. While you can corner survivor with a lot of pallet you still need to break a lot of them and lose lot of time doing so. Thing is maybe only 20% of the player base know how to loop properly on that map and all it take is one survivor wasting the pallet to greatly help the killer on that map.

The problem with Haddonfield is gen pressure. You get 2-3 gen that are upstairs or downstair and that waste a lot of time for the killer, combined with strong houses and decent amount of good pallet make this map horrible.

Yeah, as I said, it depends on what killer you're playing. The map has very few windows so killer who can deal with pallets will do well on it.

Bubba, Demo and Wraith make it a deadzone in two minutes. Huntress, Deathslinger and Trickster can shoot over most loops and pallets. It's one of the best Nurse and Hag maps. Spirit can stand still and fake phasing for free hits.

Wraith doesn't have any advantage, I don't understand why you include them Bubba & Demo still struggle just because of the amount of pallet they have to break. You still spend more than 30s in pallet break animation alone. It's an indoor map full of room so Huntress can't really hit outside of pallet and unless she hit survivor while vaulting they can either turn the corner or crouch on most loops. Deathsligner can't down if there's a pallet between him and the survivor and like Huntress Trickster struggle to use his power, it's just more reliable to M1 than hit 8 knifes but he's 110% movement speed.

Haddonfield is NOT good for Nurse, just playable.

I agree haddonfield is so fair that its the only map with infinite right now but you are right killer overreacte to this fair map

  • I totally agree. Once you get to more senior survivors who know what they're doing, it gets kind of harder as killer, but otherwise its reputation is pretty undeserved.

That is, unless you have balanced landing. High windows are the most efficient usage of balanced landing, and Haddonfield is rife with them. But since generator spacings aren't really that bad, you can probably just afford to leave chase.

  • Oh, ok. In that case I agree. Gideon has always been an EZ win for Nurse.

  • I disagree because the Badham houses are all pretty fair. The house of pain cant spawn there, the necessary windows are always locked plus the staircase is closed which makes mindgames possible at this house. The upsairs house is also way more fair, you can also mindgame there and the windows arent that save, you can just bait to go upstairs and once the survivors vaults you can immidatly run down and catch them for a free hit. All the houses on haddonfield are super save and provide atelast 1 god window without mindgame. Also on Badham the random palllets are either small or mindgamable which is just very fair, on Haddonfield however every single pallet is a save pallet and is open withotu any mindgame, yes you can blood lust the random car pallets in the middle but they still buy a good amount of time.

Now the best thing, both main buldings, the school and myers house. The school has always 2 save pallets and 1 semi good window but nothing else but also a very very good mindgame gimmik which is very cool, the big hole. You can as survivor wait at the stairs but also as Killer you can wait at the hole, once 1 side makes a mistake you won alot of distance or get hit. However the myers house always has atleast 2 god windows which also buy alot of time without any mindgames.

Now to the last part, the fences. The haddonfield fences and bushes are literall trump walls sometimes, there is no mindgame and they can buy you alot of time without any counterplay, they also cut off map travers for Killers which can be very frustrating, they provide always a good postion for survivors. In Badham the fences has been fixed however there are still some trump wall bushes, idk why tbh.

One other small thing, Badham is evrn though it is a "town" map like haddonfield, it is still fairly open which leads to good map traverse and a open view, its easy to see survivors if they go around careless and also you see crows fairly easy. On Haddonfield you just have walls and buildings, you cant see anything and that makes finding survivors even especially hard there.

  • there are way too many problems with this map for killer

1: it has the same problems as Midwich. The survivors are (usually) able to just hold W around the fences and the killer cant do much about it, they have to also hold W and cant cut survivors off, which obviously wastes a lot of time if you’re an m1 killer

2: the loops: theres RNG that allows the god window in Myers house to spawn (which is the window to the left when you exit basement) as well as the god setup with house of pain, which are absurdly strong loops for survivor. also, a lot of the houses have very safe windows/pallets in general

3: finding survivors on this map is horrible, its way too big (ties into the 4th one)

4: the gen spread on this map is also horrible, which combos with 3 because if you dont find a survivor fast you waste a lot of time going between gens

its still possible to win on this map as killer, but its very poorly balanced
