Given I just witnessed this tonight on a friend's Twitch stream, survivors really need adjustments.
Game starts on Ormond with a Ghostface:
- Survivors have mostly meta perks. - Ormond Offering from Survivors. - All five generators are done by 3 minutes and 50 seconds. - Survivors had 3 Prove Thyselves with zero toolboxes. - Only one hook was established by this point. - Killer had to facecamp for 2 kills. - Total match time was 6 minutes and 50 seconds.
Like zero joke. I've been hesitant on saying survivors need nerfs and killers need buffs, but the state of the game is an absolute joke with MMR on. If a game can be completed under 4 minutes by simply slamming gens without a care in the world and abusing a strong map, then why even bother with half of the killer roster in this game?
-
Against a Nurse? I can kinda understand why they disconnecting (besides outside of their control).
Given the experiences I've been dealing with Nurses since their return, roughly 75% of them have been somewhat or absolutely sweaty.
In a lot of cases, it's Nurses running heavily oppressive builds (ex. 4 slowdowns) and tunnels and/or camps on top of it.
I don't mind going against one or two nurses, but there have been times where I've went 5 nurses in a row with very similar builds. (It's the same shtick with Blights as well.) At that point, I rather take the 5-minute penalty, take a small break, and come back when I'm in a better mood.
-
Just came back to the game and sent in a support ticket. Hopefully that works.
-
I've seen survivors disconnect after getting downed in the first 30 seconds of a chase, because they get overly cocky with taunting the killer and the killer wipes the floor with them. No tunneling, no camping, no toxic behavior, etc. Just the survivor being an absolute child, thinking the world revolves around them, and not giving a single care about the team aspect of the game. I had people disconnect against my Bubba on Midwich the moment I revved my chainsaw, because they couldn't handle playing Leatherface on the worst map for him..
It's why if I see enough disconnects in a lobby, I'll let the remaining survivors have a choice of taking the easy way out or farm it out and move onto the next game. People's experiences shouldn't be destroyed because "oh no, killer got a BS hit on me!"

Things do get changed (sometimes) from the PTB to the live servers, but there isn't any comparison changes from the original, proposed changes on the PTB. On some cycles, some PTBs were several versions behind from the current developer build (ex. Resident Evil PTB was an early March build) that even developers made complaints about it. If it's several versions behind, then what's the point in testing content? If you're seeking to squash bugs, then finding bugs could be eliminated or created in newer builds. If you're attempting to play test the new content, then that experience wouldn't match the current thought process of the development team.
Let me give you a great example of the PTB vs. Developer Build dilemma.
Using the Resident Evil PTB's Raccoon City Police Station, there was hardly performance issues originally for PC users during the PTB. An occasional lag spike here and there, but nothing that would've raised an alarm at the time On release, there were optimization issues out of the wazoo for PC Users, which even high-end users were making complaints about.
If we were up-to-date with the developer's build when they released a PTB and made adjustments during the PTB period to correlate with the development team, then a lot of individuals would have a positive response. Instead, we're given dated content from weeks ago that doesn't reflect the current thoughts of the development team.
-
Some people will disconnect on Lery's (or any indoor map) if it's a stealth killer using Third Seal.
I know people who disconnect if it's a Myers on an indoor map with Scratched Mirror.
I know people who disconnect if it's a Pig with Third Seal.
I know people who disconnect if it's an indoor map in general.
This isn't just exclusively towards Ghostface.
-
The problem with this is you're going to have countries overlapping into two different regions.
As someone who has region hopped around in the past, Russia is a perfect example of a country who is between Asia and European servers. Their geographical location is literally in-between both servers, so you'll have players who can queue onto both regions. We already have region-lock on the game, but certain tools can circumvent this easily and it can be done with any game.

Then the FPS dropped to 10 or less?
Yes and no. It's really random when the FPS drops occurs, but from what I've researched on my end--it's an issue with a lighting source in UE4 Engine. I think our issues might be a bit different, but I'll try to provide a video later on when I can do a custom game.
-
I want to add onto this discussion that this same issue is happening on the Steam side.
Maps, like Gas Haven and Swamp, constantly has this issue where the lighting flickers and I have to adjust quality settings to make it stop.

So why won't you take responsibility by not reading it or moving on or just not playing the game and going outside if you have mental health problems
Mental health and behavioral issues cannot be painted in a black-and-white picture. Yes, people can take responsibility for their actions, but some players need barriers (like what I suggest) to prevent divulging into toxic behavior. There's a reason why certain games, like League of Legends, have advanced on their communication system over time, because they've gave players tools to combat toxicity. Behavior took years to even implement a simple colorblind setting and censoring system into their game. Players should have a right to play this game and not have to tolerate trash talking from their opponent(s).
@tolore said:
Killer main chiming in here, I actually disagree with the core premise. 90% of survivor messages in post game are positive. either simple GGs, or "good try that was a tough game" when i get stomped. Occasionally accused of tunneling, but even those exchanges are short. It's actually weird because some of the most tocxic I've felt like survivors were in game were some of the nicest/politest post game interactions i've had.
I get quite a bit of nice comments from survivors and I cherish them. I love fooling around with nice survivors, especially the ones that meme around. However, I don't find them as much anymore in my lobbies and started finding the lobbies where it's dead silent or trash talking. I found a killer (on survivor) last night, who was consistently bullied by SWFs, and they was having a mental breakdown from the harsh games they was dealing with. I experienced this similar situation weeks ago from being bullied all night and getting trashed in the end-game chat, steam profile, etc. As much I like to communicate with nice people, I feel my mental health is better off removing itself from abusive trash-talking.

Many console games do have chat functions though, and you can use usb keyboards on them. Especially if you play an MMO like FFXIV as well.
Can confirm this as a XIV Player myself.
@gilgamer said:
Im pretty sure the reason why most games on console dont have a chat is because its not exactly easy to type on it, where as on pc we have a keyboard.
Oh, there are avenues to still send your salt on console. Xbox and Playstation allows you to send messages to anyone you're connected with, as long your privacy settings allows it.
-
@Lycidas said:
Simply hiding a chat doesn't work anymore, because some people's curiosity will lead them into misfortune.
That's..that's the player's fault tho..
You know the "risks" of opening the chat, you do it anyway, and then you complain about what you see? Isn't it a bit..playing victim?
I mean it's like going to see an 18+ movie, and then complaining about the topics shown in it..
@terumisan said:
Just hit next match it's that simple
Both of you don't seem to grasp the point of the post.
"hit next match"
"hide the chat"
"refuse to communicate"
These are the common excuses people use to dismiss the underlying problem overall with DBD's end-game chat. It's easier said than done with these practices, especially with players who may struggle with mental health or behavioral issues. All it takes is one wrong thing said in the end-game chat for someone's day to be ruined. So, what's the problem with providing a solution for the selective portion of the community wanting to avoid the infamous salt from end-game chat?
Fun fact, did you know this command option was actually removed from the GameUserSettings.ini file?
ChatDefaultVisibility=True
Unless you manually add the line back into the .ini file and switch it to "False", your chat will always be opened after every client reset. Given the current state of poor optimization with the Resident Evil patch, I don't want to press hide on my chat several times a day.

Feel like if they dont do this right, half the killer players will be banned within a week. The amount of people that dont bother reading perks before announcing that something is a hack is alarming.
Yeah, because a lot of people don't understand the tool tips of the game from underused perks to their opponent's perks. I try to make an effort to understand perks when I play killer, so I can try using it to my advantage. Unfortunately, a lot of people stick to a cookie cutter template and not bother to deviate from there.

This is just ######### survivors spout after getting shat on by tactics they deem as 'unfair'
Yes. A lot of the time it's whining from survivors, but these people can be serious on filing false reports and clogging up the support system. All because they got stomped in a pub match and want to ruin their opponent's gameplay experience in return. This type of behavior is against the rules and shouldn't be tolerated, especially when Behaviour starts on an automated system.

It isn't because griefing is defined as "Targeting specific users repeatedly in order to ruin their game experience". This is taken directly from the game rules. Emphasis is on "repeatedly" and "specific"
Exactly. If I was targeting [x] for several games in a row because of a specific reason, then it can be considered a violation. Yet, I avoided doing that for the sake of not ruining people's games. I even dodged lobbies if I encountered them a bit too often.
This is why I believe clarification of the rules should be done in text form and altogether in one document. (Not the current mess of several documents.) People assume facecamping and Insidious camping is bannable under the griefing or harassment tabs.

The report system works if done correctly, of course you need video evidence to prove someone is hacking, otherwise people would get banned for no reason because who reported them didn't know how specific perks work for example, this tend to happen quite a lot.
Again, we do not have details to share yet, since the system is still in development, I'm just explaining that actions within the game rules (camping and tunneling for example or tbagging) won't lead to a ban.
I would like to add onto this and say if you report someone for hacking, write a brief description in the game client and save the detail report for a support ticket. By the time you can clip, upload, and get the URL ready for evidence, the game lobby would be closed and you won't be able to report. So, use the few minutes to file a brief information ticket on them and follow it up by gather crucial details of the hacker by getting their profile, video evidence (including identifying it was said person), and anything else that would help the support team in the support ticket. It may take a few hours or days to respond, but I've seen success from them.

Exactly, but you know that no one likes to play against basement bubba. You can play him if you want but you shouldn’t expect anyone to be nice to you after you ruined their game.
Again, bite the bullet and move on. I know killers who love to slug, tunnel, and facecamp indiscriminately, but no amount of whining or reporting will change their play style. They're welcomed to play that way, along with the survivors who want to send killers to Haddonfield with Keys and BNPs. At the end of the day, Dead by Daylight is a video game and we are here to fool around in a video game. Not trying to ruin each other's experience by trying to ban the other individual.
-
@aroell said:
You are playing basement bubba, did you expect them to be happy?
People are welcomed to play whatever they want, as long it doesn't violate the rules. I may not like Iridescent Head Huntress when I go against it as a survivor, but I bite the bullet, play it, and move on. I know a lot of survivors still disconnect and get salty over the current Iridescent Head addon, despite being the weakest point its ever been. Hence, you can't make everyone happy in this game.
-
@Rizzo said:
While the auto-ban feature is still being developed and we don't have details to share yet, you can be assured that as long as people play within the game rules, they won't get banned, and I'm sure offenses that require video evidence will still require said proof.
You can check the game rules here if you have doubts: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/kb/articles/139-game-rules
Oh, I know that from the current standpoint it works right now. There's no argument from that front and I agree with the moderation being handled. I'm just worried with the future moderation strategies when the system starts going into automation and certain players try to manipulate it. All because those certain players either doesn't like (x) or they didn't like their play style and felt the need to fabricate a story to get them in trouble. (Ex. Some users making false claims of being hate crimed, despite actual incidents occurring.)
-
I rather let a moderator answer this question, but my educated guess would be "It depends on EAC's policy on the issue."
@CoalTower said:
Not bannable, but you're a ######### person if you VPN for an advantage.
I know some individuals who use VPNs or Routing Services to deal with the ISP's garbage routing from their location to the game server. I use it at certain hours during the late night, because I end up getting placed into European servers from the East Coast. So, I route myself into West Coast servers to cut down the latency, because Europe Region has a wide selection of countries, including Russia.

There are going to be so many false reports just because of stuff like this. I once had someone threaten to get me banned just because I said I wasn't very good as killer. He got triggered cause of this. Insisted I was lying and was really good cause I killed him. I still don't know how to respond to that.
Honestly, that's the problem. I'm curious of the statistic how many reports are legitimate and what's fake.

Yes for the bodyblocking. I once found 3 survivors in the showers room of the map "The Game" as Doctor. I just used my power to put ALL of them to madness tier 3 before hitting them. The 3 of them claimed it was reportable and reported me for that. I'm pretty sure at least 70% of the player base has actually no idea what's actually reportable or not....
That's why they need to clarify the rules from the 2018 post from not_Queen. I know they did it in a developer stream in 2018, but it needs to be detailed in word form and not just in video form. Alongside, it's best to give reminders to the community what is and isn't allowed, because this game had a giant influx of players since that developer stream.

Yeah. I know people if you simply breathe the wrong way towards them, they'll become enraged at you. l made a screw up recently from anger issues and got a 48 hr temporary suspension for communication abuse. So I rather avoid getting myself in any more trouble, because it's not worth being toxic. However, my account can be at risk for another suspension or termination from the automated reports.

Playing Spirit
Playing Hag
Running NoED
Running my all-or-nothing build
"Camping"
"Tunneling"
Slugging
And
Running Lithe
Using BNP on a commodius tooldbox.
Exactly. As much I hate certain things on that list, I don't get petty and throw a temper tantrum to report someone.
I had people threatened to report me for simply playing Wraith or running Mad Grit.
I can't tell if they're being serious or sarcastic.

@SilentPill said:
Well, it will be impossible for people to coordinate reporting you with the in game system beyond the 4 you played with.
From what I understood it is that once you pass a certain threshold it’s forwarded to the devs for manual review. Hardly an auto ban.
Yeah, but if the stories are somewhat similar and it goes through moderator review, then it could be plausible those reports are legitimate in the moderator's or developer's eyes. As I said in my original post, some people are sore enough losers that they're willing to lie through their teeth and manipulate a story to make someone else look horrible.

From what i got from it, it is an automatic ban system not a automated report system. Its always bad to give something important like this into the hands of an automated system. For what we know a simple error could ban a huge amount of players. The thing is, they don't have enough personal/employees to review every case, thats why they want a automatic system.
That's what I received from the anniversary video too. It seems to kick in a ban system rather than send it straight to the moderators for review, but there's lack of information regarding this and some people are taking advantage of it. Behaviour's public records has roughly 600 employees compared to Nintendo and Ubisoft's thousands of employees.

As much I would like to post this in the feedback area, some don't venture in this area. Also, I don't have mere useful suggestions, ideas, or criticism I can make on an idea that the developers aren't publicly detailed and open about yet. I'm basing this on the little information we do have and the assumptions some players have ingrained in their minds.

What I don't understand is that to deliberately disconnect, a player has to enter a menu and confirm the process. Why can't the game detect the difference between that and an unexpected disconnect?

Honestly, their DC detection needs to be better.

If you want to feel better then let me tell you this killer match I just had:
I was playing my beautiful boy The Minotaur, I only wanted to get a tome challenge.
I ran Nemesis and Rancor.
This Kate decided to t-bag me repeatedly for no reason, I wasn't toxic to begin with.
To get karma back, I decided to let her stun me so she became the obsession and I played along with "farming" so she could pop the last generator.
As the last generator popped, she got moried and it was satisfying to hear her scream :))
I had a Jeff who did that a few weeks ago on Asylum and I was being silly at first with the teabags.
However, Jeff would do it at EVERY SINGLE PALLET just to try be "haha, im edgy xd" kind of survivor.
Jeff would click flashlights at me and ran straight to the main building in every chase, so I was going to save Jeff for last.
After I double hooked everyone else, I found Jeff and he didn't last long outside the main building.
I caught Jeff, took him straight to basement, hooked him, and stood at the top of asylum stairs.
I refused to let the other survivors get the save, which they complied and left the game.
They asked why and I replied: "I don't appreciate people being super toxic all game."

Well if you know this is going to happen(and it happens around the same time of day as well) just dont play then. Or just wait out the 5 min penalty that's why it is short.
Sometimes, the Steam Maintenances have happened outside of Tuesday, numerous times on Tuesday evening, etc.
There has been situations in the past where Steam, Sony, Nintendo, or Xbox servers get DDOS'd.
That's why DBD should have some monitoring service to check if a specific game service goes down.
-
Legion, because you act like a 5th survivor with a knife, go fast across the map, and stab everyone to make them mend.
...And you do it all over again a minute or two later to constantly apply map pressure.
-
As much I like to try playing nice for survivors, some high-rank survivors treat the game as an e-sports arena. It gets annoying when generators get completed in under five minutes and you don't even have 4 stacks of BBQ. One of your emblems get blown out by the first minute or two of the game, because people are laying so much generator pressure. At that point, you're in a horrible spot and you're struggling to rebound.
Then high-ranked survivors get curious about these particular questions:
1) Why is NOED so common?
2) Why are certain killers being played?
3) Why are killers constantly tunneling, slugging, or camping?
Don't get me wrong. There are killers out here who constantly do this, regardless of the current environment, for their personal enjoyment. However, it does make fair killers (like myself) become either tired, stressed, and/or angered over the gameplay environment.
-
@Saltjar34 said:
There is one way to fix this but we'll probably only get this when the devs realize they can put skins on the killer's power
Now in TF2, the Pyro who is notorious for his flamethrower, has a skin for that weapon that causes it to shoot rainbows. It even changes the sound effects if I'm not wrong. Now the rainblower may not be added for people with Pyrophobia but perhaps you can use that logic on Plague? Perhaps make her puke out rainbows and instead have the survivors make sounds of glittering sparkles?
That actually sounds like a decent idea I would support. I played TF2 for a few years before DBD came along and I loved the game. That weapon in particular was one of my favorites to meme around, outside of my Australium weapon collection. So, I could see this being an suitable alternative.
@glitchboi said:
Supporting ya with an updoot. I don't have this phobia but I still think people who suffer from it should be given accessibility options to make it easier for them to enjoy playing against Nemesis and Plague.
Exactly. I have issues playing Plague due to the puking and gagging noises. Given there are current rift challenges for Plague, I let a friend get onto my account to do them for me.

People don't use meta perks because of content creators, people use meta perks because they're...meta...let's not blame content creators for trying to play the game.
It's not the fault of the survivors for running the same perks every game, it's the dev's fault for making 95% of the perks in this game mediocre/terrible. And killers all run the same meta perks too, pop, ruin, corrupt, stbfl, infectious, tinker etcetera. When was the last time you saw a killer using hangman's trick or monstrous shrine?
Also since when is tenacity meta? Lol
I disagree with the content creator's part, because a lot of the old meta was developed by content creators (like Tru3) who crafted builds that stuck around for the longevity of this game. Builds like Sprint Burst, Adrenaline, Self-Care, and Quick-and-Quiet. Ever since 2018~2019, the meta has only switched up the killer's end and the strongest perks for survivor hasn't really shaken up. Newer creators are trying to bring interesting and creative builds, but it only goes so far with the current iron wall of the stagnant meta we currently have.
Unfortunately, when you get into high ranks, the gameplay is forced into this disgusting mentality of "you must play these specific builds/killers, play absolutely scummy, and/or you're going to get demolished." Why? Survivors literally slam the gas on the generators. As much some survivor mains whine to me about their perks being nerfed, I've been in situations where all the generators were completed and the exit doors 99%'d in under five minutes. This is NOT a fun gameplay experience.
I've seen killers run those perks, but they're usually on killer requests for Twitch streams or they just don't have any other perks to use. Yet, you and I do agree on this particular issue. Developers are afraid to nerf some of the current S-Tier perks, buff or rework some of the lower-tier or mid-tier perks, and cause a major shake-up in the meta overall.
I've been seeing a lot of Tenacity lately in my games and they've been paired up with Unbreakable. Don't know if it's pure coincidence or not, but I've been seeing quite a bit of people using that perk in the past two months since I came back from my hiatus.
-
So, you're right on the merits here. I feel a lot of survivors miss the point, especially in purple and red ranks, that killers will resort into measures that may not be appealing to their liking. However, they must remember the criteria required to safety, pip, and double pip gets tighter as the ranks increase. I try to give survivors a fun and fair game most of the time, but this tends to go out the window. All because people wants to generator rush and give survivors no real incentive to bother with other objectives.
@Squirrel_Thicc said:
When will the threads attacking survivor players end...
To be fair, I would like to see more survivors bantering, not take the game as too serious, and not require me to run a cookie-cutter build to somewhat counter their cookie-cutter builds. I would also like to see more survivors run more perk variety than the same ten perks every game, because their favorite content creator did it. (Ex. Decisive Strike, Unbreakable, Sprint Burst, Lithe, Balanced Landing, Resilience, Spine Chill, Tenacity, Borrowed Time, and We'll Make it.) This made me quit about two years ago, because the game's meta was too stale and boring. That meta has hardly switched up since then, despite the amount of content creators being introduced.
-
Performance issues has been off-and-on since the start of the game's lifespan, but as the infamous quote has went around in gaming communities. "A developer fixes one issue, several bugs pop up right afterwards." This issue has been poorly handled and I have a computer that's slightly older than the game itself. (Only upgraded the GPU, but it still runs beautiful.) Yet, I have started to receive issues with running the game in the past month or so.
The biggest issue I can't wrap around my head is the constant CPU-strain the client has, regardless if I'm on Low or Ultra settings, and still retain 60~100 FPS on both settings. (I've locked my frames at 60 FPS, while 20 FPS in the background, in NVidia Control Panel.) I only managed to suppress some of this strain by limiting settings in NVidia Control Panel and tweaking some lines (like ensuring FPS stays locked at 60 FPS, VSync is off, etc.) in the GameUserSettings.ini file. Unfortunately, console players don't get this luxury and this should be a priority for optimization.
Overclocking my GPU runs at the risk of my client crashing, since the current Unreal Engine version can't handle overclocking for some odd reason. The servers have issue with some games disconnecting off-and-on, which this could be with Steam or the host network, and racking up penalties for no reason. (If I recall correctly, DBD's servers are with Amazon.)
My game has started to crash on the Saloon map recently for unknown reasons and resorted to technicians finding out the specific issue. (Friends that played DBD with me in the past have moved on.) I'm having to task manager the game, if someone offers the Saloon map, because I don't want to rack up DC penalties.

Yeah it's like if they put their heads inside of the object you can't pick them up
Yeah. It's either they wedge their heads or a certain portion of their hitbox into the object / wall where the killer can't get them. (Since it is known killer's hitboxes are larger than survivor's.) At least your case, the survivor acknowledged the situation and fixed it on their own. In mine, they came into my stream to be clowns and justify why they were attempting to exploit.
-
Have the same issue as you in a different spot.
Had a Cheryl and Elodie abusing this exact bug just a little bit ago.
My guess is the survivor attempts to position their hitbox in a way where the killer cannot pick them up.
