I've been ranking up steadily but now that I've reached bottom purple ranks im having trouble ranking up. My main problem is my chases last too long. I'll find someone chase them for 2 minutes then down them and by then 3 gens have been completed. I've tried playing with more gen pressure but whenever I injure someone then cut chase to patrol gens they just heal up and I lost time chasing them. If I try to stay with them I just get stuck in a game of ring around the Rosie until I break the pallet then they blind me and run to the next pallet or vault location and rinse and repeat until they make a mistake and I can end chase. The only reason I'm able to maintain ranks is to play ghostface. Hes my strongest killer since I don't even have to chase with his stalk. I've been trying to play demogorgon but hes hard since I fall into the pallet looping for too long problem. The other killer I play is trapper where I 3 gen and rely on traps in pallet and vault locations to end chases. The only problem with trapper is his RNG with 3 gens and maps. Any tips would be appreciated

For demogorgon specifically if you think they are going for a pallet you can precharge your shred and use it as they go through if they dont drop the pallet you'll often hit them and if they do drop it you shred through it almost instantly without losing too much ground

I was being chased for trying to cleanse a cursed flaming totem. I lost the killer and came back and the totem was uncursed. What causes this to happen?

    Were they running haunted ground?

Haunted ground spawns 2 hex totems and when 1 gets cleansed the other one goes dull. That's the only thing i can think of.

I just started getting the feel of Pyramid Head, because previously I sucked with him, and I noticed a glaring issue of his. His cages literally act as a survivor sided mechanic sometimes. They teleport right next to someone on a gen, or right next to a 99'd exit gate. I think they should spawn a set distance from another survivor, so it's not an instant unhook, and they actually have to do work and move some distance to get their teammate. Just a suggestion.

That is the downside to caging, its a tactical descision. Sometimes you're just better off hooking them instead, especially if no one else is around you.

I'm so sick and tired of killers who refuse to break pallets and instead bloodlust and ######### I"M SO TIRED.

I'm about to quit survivor and just play killer since I can't even enjoy chases anymore when killers refuse to play like they have a brain

Talk to me once they optimize console properly. Considering everytime i go into bloodlust i get a massive frame drop and lose track of people, so if im in bloodlust no i wont break the pallet, i will chase you until i get the hit.

That's considering you'd buy most of the cosmetics. In reality there'll maybe be two cosmetics you actually really want, most of the time it's one with the rest just being cosmetics for characters you don't use (then again, this could just be personal opinion but I believe this statement applies to most people). After that, it's a matter of how much your time is worth to you. Like I said that you just completely ignored, the only point to buying the battle pass is to save money (while still spending money), if only one cosmetic is looking good to you, just wait till it gets released and then you don't have to play the game anymore.

Like I said, despite having less tiers than most battle passes, it actually requires more grinding to max it out. That or there around the same and the game is just so repetitive that I feel like it takes longer. The exclusivity is generally the main appeal of the battle pass, after all, the only people who are willing to buy them are people who play the game enough to complete them and bragging that you have exclusive cosmetics is quite enjoyable.

For most casual players, the fact that it requires an average of 2-3 hours per day and that you need to play both sides to max it out will deter most people, the idea that they can just buy the skin they want later would seem way more appealing, would it not? So once again, other than the small portion people who play this game to an extreme, what is the point of buying the rift pass?

Well I only started playing in tome 5 so its nice to know that when i buy the rift pass i get all the current stuff and also earn shards so i can get characters, cosmetics, perks, and that stuff that came out when i didnt have the game will be available.

Just give us a confirm button. It'll stop people from joining a lobby even though they might need to leave or do something really quick. From there you can check data and then decide if you ever actually wanted to punish people from leaving the lobbies but It probably still wouldn't be a good idea on the punishment part.

Huh? Not really sure what your on about here, when you load into a lobby you have a minute to back out with no penalty until the match starts, the confirm button is to ready up.

New DS will not become an anti-tuneling perk, It will become a "get slugged for a good 60 seconds perk"

If they REALLY want to make It anti-tuneling they should remove the timer and keep the interactions that deactivate it.

If you remove the timer doesnt it then become a get slugged until you bleed out perk

Yes but there's waiting out a DS and then there's the survivor is under a hook practically begging for death and killer sits there laughing like a maniac whacking the ground and if it's fine then I'm gonna start doing it hell all killers should

Theres also the question of what else was going on. Were there a bunch of pallets down on the map that he didnt break, that he maybe used that time to get more brutality bloodpoints or a challenge done? If he was just standing over them the whole time that does suck but it also depends on if said player was being a jerk during the match, because i would totally do that to a t-bagger that pissed me off.

  • @gatsby said:

The Killer is teleported to the other side of the map by the entity immediately after hooking a Survivor. Same concept as Pyramid Head's cages except the Killer teleports instead of the Survivor. Discourages three gens as well because the Killer can't keep in the same area all game.

Honestly, if this change happened it would naturally weaken Borrowed Time and Decisive Strike to the point where they would be largely unnecessary. The Killer would be more focused on map pressure and getting hooks than camping out kills because walking straight back to hook would be a massive waste of time.

This Could be funny especially if you end up teleporting and landing right next to someone working on a gen just like pyramid heads cages, but Freddy does that and everyone complains so that doesnt work, sorry try again.

  • If im doing a basement challenge i will burn midwich or dead dawg saloon since thise are the only ones that track basement right now. Also if i play coldwind farm twice in a row i will burn anything to get away from the corn, I hate corn.

your complaint should actually be against matchmaking then. They going to bring back MMR.

Except mmr is going to get overidden by the fact they keep nerfing killers and their perks, leading to less killers, leaving less killers to matchmake with, and bypassing mmr to get high ranking survivors into games faster.

  • @ASurvkillivorer said:

It should become clear there is an issue as to why.

It's just so fun to get massively penalized on my matchmaking where I no longer get paired with a huge portion of my own systems playerbase if I turn crossplay off because that portion still has it on. But then if I don't turn it off I have to play with a group of randoms Vs a PC Oni who is never going to miss a single attack.

BHVR obviously knows of this problem you did a survey on it. What did you guys let all those PC killers pretending to be console players who think crossplay is perfect ruin its integrity? No PC killer is going to be honest about what crossplay does because it favors them.

I have to say im not sure what the problem is your title and your statement both dont quite make sense of what your trying to say

I'm on ps4/xbox one do these people have to go out of their way to message me. I could understand if I was on pc and it was end game char stuff since it's right there but to click my name, go to the message screen and type out a whiny message blaming me for their poor play is ridiculous. Like I said, used to every now and then I'd get sent one but it's literally after every match lately.

For stuff like that you have 2 options.

Turn the other cheek and just block them, solving the problem for you after 1 message.

Or trash talk them back in as clean a way as possible until they swear or say something inappropriate (rascist, homophobic, threataning etc.), and then report them. On xbox this will get them a temp ban at least on chat sometimes on their full account depending on how many reports they have. This i find is the more enjoyable way to go and your doing a service for the gaming community as a whole.

    yep.

People I unhook may sprint away in terror as the Killer patrols gens or chases somebody else.

I can think of a few reasons why you would leave and not heal under hook other than terror.

  • Mostly bp but sometimes it comes in clutch to find someone so im good with it.

  • @Aztreonam78 said:

ALMOST EVERY TIME THIS HAPPENS WHEN I USE THIS PERK

If the Killer is far away, the Survivors I unhook still run away in panic, wasting both their and mine time. They don't know what is We'll Make It, even some Red Ranks.

IMO, We'll Make it should apply its own Status Effect so people are more likely to know they are gonna be healed very fast, but I am not sure it will solve the problem of less experienced people overwhelming red ranks bcs of the terrible ranking system and matchmaking.

Hopefully MMR will be very soon and good enough to prevent such kind of frustration.

Are you sure they are running away in panic and not with purpose?

Tome 1 Level 3 monstorous mayhem is bugged(what a shocker like most killer challenges in tome 1)

How did u guys complete it? what map/killer since I noticed hook 5 in basement(doesnt say in 1 match) it said 0/1 and couldnt do it even with 12 hooks in basement, until I did it in saloon map.

So I'm guessing this one is similiar? I had monstrous shrine 1 as a perk along with BBQ n chilli, I'm all ears and thrilling tremors. I was playing ghostface, and there was 3 hooked in the basement at the same time, one of them died on hook

Basement challenges are currently bugged and can only be tracked/completed on midwich and dead dawg saloon.

So my friends and I have lately been complain about matchmaking. So today, we kinda sat down and started trying to figure out queue times. When we noticed something odd, at least we thought so.

So we realized during our test time it took between 9-11 minutes to get a match. So we then tried lobbies with 1 and lobbies with two people. Both the single person and the duo still averaged 9-11 minutes.

Lastly as we are PC players, we decided to toggle off "Cross-Play" and guess what, as a lobby of 4, 3, 2 and 1 we still averaged 9-11 minutes... The thing that confused me was, "Cross-Play" says "If this setting is disabled, you will only matchmake with other user on your platform who have opted out of cross-play" basically, you can only match with other people who also disabled "Cross-Play"... So my question is, why is our queue times the same with it enabled or disabled? Are you honestly saying it takes the same amount of time to find me a lobby with 60k players as a portion of 30k?

It all comes down to the number of killers vs survivors. It sounds like either way instead of 1 killer for every 4 survivors, the pool is actually 1 killer for evry 10 survivors

  • @Orionbash said:

I've literally been complaining since the day his rework was released. It was evident from Day 1 that he was OP af having every. single. ability in the game at his disposal. No terror radius basically, best mobility in the game, strongest anti-loop in the game, slow down. It was insane that he actually got past the PTB. He should have never been released in that state.

    As for your actual post...

    1) Waking up isn't optimal. You have to run across the map wasting valuable time that could be spent on bones or gens. You're going to fall asleep in like 10 seconds so its not even worth it. By the time you do all that Freddy has also probobly downed someone else because he has zero skill being the most basic anti-loop killer to ever exist in DbD so if you did bother to wake up the 10% you managed to get on the gen will be popped or regressed by ruin once he BBQs to you.

    2) That's a nice sentiment, but a good Freddy knows exactly where to place his snares within seconds of you getting to a loop. And as there's no punishment for placing snares in chase he's still following you while placing said snares. With the introduction of massive dead zones and fewer pallets to maps it's not beneficial to just leave the area against a Freddy because it won't take him long to catch up. Should you get too far, he'll just teleport to the gen you'Re closest to and find you anyway.

    3) I don't really have an argument for this because that's survivor 101. This point is fine.

My issue with Freddy is that he does everything with literally zero risk and zero skillcap. He's brainless and unhealthy for the game. His counterplay is honestly a joke and he is in need of a massive rework or some really hard nerfs. Killers in DbD should have a specific focus that they excel at. For example: If you're anti-loop, then your mobility shouldn't be as strong as a high mobility killer. It doesn't mean you shouldn't have anything to help in your kit, but my god a killer that has such strong anti-loop potential should not be able to teleport across the map faster than Blight, for example. It's actually dumb.

    A Couple points.

    1. First off waking up is optimal because it takes away so much of his power. Alarm clocks are not the only way to do that but i will say that if there was something to be reworked i think its in the alarm clock mechanic which i will address later.

    2. You dont fall asleep in 10 seconds unless he hits you, C'mon now give your head a shake.

    3. The trick against freddy is when you break to a new area you have to watch him if he starts his teleport you need to change direction he cant switch targets on a whim, he has to stop teleporting to switch gens and he will have a cooldown before he can try again.

    4. For entities sake wake up before you go for the unhook if you have borrowed time, if your on a gen and freddy is in a chase just fail a skill check and wake up he's gonna be too busy to teleport there while he's chasing someone anyways.

Freddy is very beatable but there are a few tweaks they could make to appease both sides that i think would be pretty fair.

    1. Passive sleep timer should be put on pause while in chase, this is how the timer works on reverse bear traps, this would do 2 things. One it further incentivises staying awake, which is a good idea anyways. It also weakens freddys anti loop as he cant start a chase and have the survivor fall asleep before getting hit and have to deal with snares. As long as you are awake you dont have to deal with snares until he hits you.

    2. A slow down to 3.8 or 4.0 while placing snares would be more than fair in my opinion.

    3. Alarm clocks as they are aren't great, what i think would work well is one of 2 changes. Either keep the extra 30 seconds of immunity and let people wake up at any alarm clock, or keep it to 1 specific alarm clock but bump up the immunity to 45 or 60 seconds to compensate for the extra running time.

  • @Rivyn said:

Careful about saying you go AFK. The mods are touchy about that, think it's 'not playing the game.'

But I agree. OoO shouldn't be a thing. Unfortunately, the balance dev has no problems with it, so good luck in expecting change. Also with DS.

If i play the first half of the match and get my butt kicked because the matchmaking in this game sucks, and then proceed to afk in a corner until its over and the devs have a problem with that then too bad for them.

  • I think a great rework for insidious would beto have it last like 5-10 seconds with like a 60 second cooldown or a once per chase condition and have it be activatable like dead hard, that would make it a neat mind game chase perk and almost useless as a camping perk.

  • Depends on the circumstance.

I had a survivor dc because when i was going to hook him for the first time his whole team body blocked and sabo'd the hook and i had to drop him, i proceeded to camp his body while all 3 of his teammates tried to pull me away to pick him up while still staying far enough away that that it wouldve been a full on chase to get a first hit. Eventually half his bleedout meter was used up and he dc'd. I didnt feel bad about that because if any of his teammates came in and took a hit i would have chased them and he wouldve gotten picked up.

On the otherside i had a blendette squad and i accidentally tunnelled one of them because i couldnt tell them apart and while there was nothing i could do i did still feel a litttle bad about it when they dc'd

  • Yep i had 1 match everyone between rank 18 and 20, next match all between rank 1 and 3. Im rank 10

    Blight

    Huntress

    Hillbilly

    Oni

Slinger (you can still quickscope at a fairly decent level on console)

    Victor

    Bubba

1/3 of the killer roster is negatively affected on console by lack of m and k. Its bs. Bhvr add support please.

The biggest problem i have with pc vs console survivors are with spins. I cant do em on console and i suck at teying to hit them.

in fact I said iron will needs a timer like lucky break

So you want to buff strider on killers that arent spirit? Hmmm... lets see since spirit cant see auras while phasing maybe buff it so that it shows the aura of anyone running Iron will withn 4/8/12 meters. Close range wall hack for everyone but Spirit while phasing sound good.

Well Since ive probably already maxed out my chase points my best chance for points is hits/hook trading, or getting a kill

As for giving up as a killer my queue times are instant so i will just move on to the next match and get my bloodpoints there.

  • @GannTM said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1900982#Comment_1900982

Yes it does. Killers that failed to create pressure get a free kill or two even when they don’t deserve it.

Thats like me saying if you cant evade NOED then you dont deserve to escape

  • @GannTM said:

In my opinion, NOED is such a huge problem and is very unhealthy for the game. This perk is by no means one of the best in the game and that's not the issue with this perk. The issue with NOED is that it's a bail-out perk for the killer and rewards the killer for playing badly. I can think of plenty of much better killer perks that aren't an issue. I think Whispers is a perfect example of that. Whispers is one of the best perks in the game if not the greatest, however, you never see anyone complain about it because it's a perk that rewards the killer for having good awareness, game sense, and game knowledge instead of bailing out bad killers that end up getting one kill against a survivor who's done well throughout the whole match, gets smacked with NOED, and gets frustrated because they know they didn't deserve to die.

So how exactly do we fix this? I think NOED should become a perk that rewards killers for playing well throughout the match but just couldn't stop the gens from getting done. I think that for every survivor that is on death hook at end game, they should have the exposed status effect for the remainder of end game. A buff to compensate would be to not make it a hex perk. Keep the haste status effect as well.

I'm not sure if this change will immediately end the complaints people have with this perk, but it will certainly be one step in the right direction. Tell me what you all think of this. Is this idea good or bad? I'd love to know y'all's thoughts.

I personally dont think NOED is a problem, i play about a 50/50 split. I don't typically run it as i would rather have 4 perks, however i definitely wouldnt want to see it changed unless they fix matchmaking first. When i do run it, its generally when I (a rank 13 killer) am getting regularly matched with red rank survivors that i really dont have a chance against anyways.

First off it does not reward you for playing badly, i really wish people would stop saying this, once it activates you still need to find and chase people for it to be effective, so you still have to play well with it or you get nothing. It can also be completely negated by doing totems (even though i know no one wants to hear that), and gotten rid of once it activates. Also as a side note with all the nerf NOED posts, where are the cries to nerf infinite tier 3 Myers which essentially has no counterplay, just something to think about.

If it were to be changed based on your suggestion it should activate on everyone if everyone has been hooked once, or on everyone if 1 person is on death hook, i could maybe support that. Requiring death hook on every survivor is too much considering all the 2nd chance perks survivors have at their disposal, especially adrenaline which it is a direct counter to, as sometimes all it takes is one ds and then you dont see that survivor again until endgame and you cant get them on death hook making the perk useless. There is also the issue of if it doesnt affect everyone then what is the counter to adrenaline, i know not everyone runs it, but without NOED in its current form there is no counter to that perk. NOED is the only real 2nd chance perk that a killer gets while survivors have a bunch, especially when a single mistake can essentially cost a killer the whole game (check out this gameplay review that ohtofu did the other day which shows what im talking about, hope im not breaking any rules posting this link https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=W9Kgo6XqjNo )

  • @EvilJoshy said:

Sounds like the killer was both a sore loser and inexperienced. There are times when you see a survivor run to a certain area and you need to decide "Should I commit or break off?". If you spend too much time on one survivor than the other 3 of repairing gens without danger. This is what people refer to when they say "Apply Pressure"

It can be hard as a newer killer to just break off chase unless you see someone else of have a perk that helps find people pressuring 1 is better than pressuring none in my mind.

  • @Huge_Bush said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1900192#Comment_1900192

If a survivor points at a hook, it means they either want to give you points or want to get killed to move on to the next match. So either way, down and hook them.

Preventing them from doing gens and not hooking them, while you farm with the others can be considered griefing. Devs aren't very clear on what they consider griefing so its best to be safe than sorry. Don't keep pulling them off of the gen and letting them wiggle out in order to prevent them from progressing the match either.

Ok i will give you the first one i hadnt thought of that, the 2nd one however they are letting you farm grabs if they didnt want to get grabbed, they wouldnt work on the gen in your face, theyd find another one.

  • @Huge_Bush said:

Piggy is the best for farming, survivors will rush to you in order to boop your snoot.

Just don't force anyone to farm. Not everyone likes it.

Don't try it on weekend nights. All the tryhards are out and have no intention of playing nice.

Just out of curiousity how would one force survivors to farm, i mean either they wanna farm and play along or they dont and they go do gens. Forcing them to farm would just be standard gameplay.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Farming is a waste of time and it's insanely boring. You can get 25-30k from playing normally on killer or get 32k in a farm game that will take at least 5 minutes longer. It's not a time-efficient way of getting BP. I don't understand the logic behind farming. You can often play two games in the time it takes to play one farm game.

Also, if I wait 5 minutes for a game on survivor only to find that it's a farm game, it'll be a very quick game for me. I'm not farming.

If you have a challenge worth 60k bloodpoints plus get 30k (×2 with bbq) for the farm match it can totally be worth it, especially if in regular play it will take a lot of matches to get done. I will often switch to farm mode when i keep getting matches where i get screwed by matchmaking, id rather get 90k in a 30 min farming match than 3-4, 10-12k, 8-10 min matches. Once im in farm mode if you dont wanna farm thats fine but theres a chance depending on my mood and how good i think you are i will corner up and wait out the match especially if you stop me from getting my first hook when you have 2 or more gens done, no matter how much you click your flashlights at me.

DS is an anti-tunnel perk, that gives way more value than an anti-tunnel perk should be giving. This can also stack on four different survivors for a full minute of protection to do whatever you want.

It may be actual tunneling, but it is beneficial to me when playing killer. The survivor also had the chance to run to a safer part of the map, so I see it as punishing them for being in the wrong place at the wrong time if I am close by when they had the chance to run. I didn't mean a survivor should get tunneled because they messed up. For example, if I am close and I see you sneak behind a z wall on the edge of the map, I would go after the person and slug. I know it seems harsh, but I like to get as many kills as I can when playing killer. Sometimes that means tunneling a survivor. However, I don't go out of my way to tunnel.

My favorite people to tunnel are the ones who use DS as a weapon. If i eat your decisive strike because you're using it to get an unsafe unhook or work on a gen and i dont feel like i tunnelled you, now that ive been punished for it already i may as well tunnel you out.

I’ve always been curious when killers say that. How can survivors LOOK like a “bully squad”?

All 4 running the same character and cosmetics, 4 flashlights, 4 keys,

Last weekend was rough. I depipped 2 ranks from 9 to 11 because I kept getting matched to red teams.

In The afternonn on sunday i climbed to 10 and then sunday night dropped me to 13

  • Last weekend i had a rough patch of like 5 in a row that were just awful, i think i dodged about 15 straight lobbies after that for a suitable match.

  • I tend to look at items and names to see if i may be dealing with a swf, and if ive had a few bad matches i will literally dodge lobbies if there isnt a mix of xbox/crossplay or even based on cosmetics, if you look fancy i dodge lol.
