Yeah the DC penalty didnt really do anything. People just changed the way they do leave the game (dying on their first hook) and this isnt even including ways people were able to abuse the DC penalty.
Okay so they kill themselves on first hook instead. Thats still better than just dcing as soon as they see the killer is freddy/spirit/bubba.

After escaping a chase you have to enter a locker, do you have to stay a certain amount of time inside of the locker? I played 3 matches i didn't get it.
I got it by jumping into lockers and the killer grabbing me out

I wish they would learn the difference between intentional dc and something beyond your control. I was having a good game and out of nowhere without warning my game window closed. Later, my whole game froze and disconnected me. This led to a very long ban because I dc intentionally when a killer is hard tunneling and/or camping hook. This game play method is toxic when a survivor is killed before they get a chance to earn points and doesn't deserve the reward of a kill. Survivors have much longer wait times than killers so the killers should play in a less toxic way.
Maybe you shouldnt dc intentionally and then when it happens by accident it would only be a minor inconvenience.

Not really interested in that, nor do I ultimately care if they left so fast either. Just thought it a little strange that nobody even tried to get even a little more bloodpoints out of it, like the usual “run me around the exit until I get a hit in” bit.
Yeah farming isnt everyones cup of tea, i do alot of farming late night on weekends because the matchmaking is usually terrible for me, and i have challenges on killers i havent leveled/played before. If they dont wanna farm i usually just corner up and open the gate for them as soon as the gens are done to move on and try the next one.

My suggestion was to make it a press like dead hard. That way survivors could at least keep it if they don't want to use it.
@Taiga said:
I agree they should remove the skill check or atleast make it bigger so you can still save it for later. I‘m using this perk since 2018 and I still miss the skill check quite often. Especially when I’m actually getting tunneled.
Another good idea would be that you just have to press a Button like with dead Hard as someone mentioned above. If it’s truly supposed to be a an anti tunnel perk they should also remove scratch marks for 5 seconds after stunning the killer with it.
If you want to save it for later all you have to do is not try to hit the skill check, dont hit any button and let the skill check go, then you save it for next time.

Mr. Golubushka08, what you have just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this post is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
This just made my day, Good on ya mate.

All 3 perks are crutches, really. Especially a high mobility killer with any tracking perks, beacons telling killer where to go in a horror game. With BBQ a high mobility killer is always instantly downing someone and it does make it impossible to get gens done. Now add in slowgen perks like Ruin and PGTW and you see what is happening. All of these perks are winning a lot of killer games.
Sorry to dissappoint you Sluzzy, but all perks are crutches on both sides, so thats not a very solid arguement.

I’m sick and tired of having my grabs denied by a constant bug in the game that’s been probably in it for the past 3 years. Will there be a fix anytime soon or will we just continue on getting changes that we don’t need such as the hud..?
Unless you specifically need grabs i would just hold m1 amd get the lunge hit instead of going for the grab.

So this seems like it is a real bug. Thanks for taking it seriously. And thanks to all who tried to help, we now know for certain this is not something the players can control. Perhaps it is time to rethink removing DC bans until you can figure this out?
Dc bans aren't going anywhere, they are a deterrent to prevent people from quitting out of matches, ruining the experience for other people.

I'm kind of surprised at all the people defending noed like I know y'all are so quick to say DS is a crutch and that second chance survivor perks are bs and need to be toned down.
Noed is literally a second chance for killers to insta down people in the end game and in most cases secure at least one kill. Against uncoordinated groups or solo queue what are they supposed to do? Lol
I hope one day it gets reworked in such a way that it's still powerful and unique but not so unfair. I personally feel bad using it as killer and wish it functioned differently so I could use it and not feel bad about it lol
Tbh the only time i complain about survivor perks its always in response to defending NOED Lol. The only perk ive really thought was op was object, and that was specifically with a 3-4 man swf.

@Imagine_Milk said:
I'd say NOED is a crutch perk for bad killers. If a killer is not performing well in the match before the last generator is completed, they will most likely rely on NOED to be lethal and carry them. When a killer is carried by NOED, they are rewarded because of this perk.
Based on that assessment arent all perks crutch perks.

I think that keys should have like a minigame to open hatch. I dont think there should be a noise notification if you fail but something similar to opening a chest while your doing it. Even something simple like the key being on a ring of 5 and only one opens the hatch, kinda like the way reverse bear traps work except trying each key takes like 4-5 seconds so sometimes it'll take 20-25 seconds to open hatch.

Can i ask what is the purpose of hiding a locker if the killer still able to hear your terror range if he within the range. When we hide in the locker, the terror range of the survivor should be eliminate until he came out, if not what is the purpose of hiding in it?
You wanna hide from the killer while he chasing u? Nope, he still can hear the heartbeat and find whenever u in the range. This problem is getting more serious while only like 2 or 3 survivor left. 1 get hook and 1 trying to save, whenever u wanna go and save becuz only 2 of u remain and u hide in the locker wait for the right time to go and he can still hear your heartbeat.
If like that how do we play while they were still 2 ppl left. I just abandon him and start finding hatch? I just play this game not long and what i feel is whenever 1 survivor die and only left 2-3 of us and the gen that fixed was only 1 or 2 that means we gg. One of the survivor get hook and 1 need to go and save him, we cant waste the time so another 1 should go and fix gen. Idk i just feel like is impossible to win a match of 3 or even 2 survivors left with 1-2 gen fix
I dont think you understand jow the game works from the killer perspective.
Survivors dont have a heartbeat. The ways killers can know your in a locker are, they can hear your breathing especially if you are injured. They can see your scratch marks if you run up to a locker and jump in your scratchmarks just stop at the locker, so they are gonna know where you are, the same goes for blood. If you jump in while sprinting there is a noise notification, so they know you went into a locker.

WGLF definitely isn't as useful or universal as BBQ but yes it technically does exist.
My only problem with WGLF is the 2 aspects of it are very opposite. You get bonus bp for unhooks but the heal bonus is only to dying survivors, it would be better if they combined we'll make it and WGLF so the healing bonus was after the unhook, and we'll make it could then be for dying survivors with some kind of buff to make it stronger.

@DownUnder said:
I know, I know another Noed topic...
I would like to start a civil discussion about this perk.
Majority of the DBD community know this perk is really unhealthy for the game for the following reasons:
-it is the only hex perk which lit up at the endgame (but why?..)
-it has a built in old undying with full value
-it has the devour's first hit surprise (no warning like Rancor)
-user gain unlimited exposed status effect until the totem is found
-user gain 1 stack PWYF
The perk is NOT Overpowered by any means, it's core issue is it rewards the user for bad gameplay. Hex perks should be high RISK high reward perks, but theres next to no risk bringing this perk.
Why? Because the survivors have to cleanse not just one totem but ALL OF THEM (built in undying). There is no difference between cleansing 4 totems out of 5 or not cleasing at all, so this "just do bones" argument is just ridiculous and you know it.
People fear and respect Devour Hope for a good reason, but anyone who uses Noed... well let's just say it's a Badge of Being Bad.
Maybe it's just me, but in red ranks when I go againts a killer who plays like a bot, without any mindgame, any tactics, just follow people like a zombie, I'm certain that person is a noed gamer.
This perk plagues low ranks too, because the players doesn't need to unlock certain killers to use it, it's base kit perk.
So that being sad I just wanted to shed some light on this issue. Devs please consider reworking this god awful perk with the next DS and OoO change, so we can get closer to even more balanced/healthy game.
Guys please share your opinion on this matter, I would like to hear it.
I would disagree with you on a couple things.
First i really hate it when people use the phrase it rewards bad gameplay, it doesn't, in order to use NOED you still have to chase and get hits. Does infinite tier 3 myers reward bad gameplay, he can function the exact same way, except there is no cleansing his power?
The idea that NOED has no risk attached to it is also wrong. Even though it almost never happens survivors can cleanse all the totems, or find and cleanse it once it activates, which can actually be better if you remember where you saw totems that you didnt cleanse. There is also the risk that if the survivors aren't playing altruisticaly that you will only get one down and sacrifice with it anyways. There is also the fact that you are playing the game with only 3 perks up until that point. There is a definite difference between the effectiveness of NOED and the number of survivors remaining when it kicks in, 2 survivors very effective, 4 survivors not so much.
Last you need to consider the perks it counters on the other side. There are many examples of perks that mirror or are direct counters to each other, Stridor-Iron will, Franklins-Items, lightborn-flashlights, aura reading-distortion/off the record, and lots more. In the case of Noed, it counters 2 perks, Adrenaline and Hope. So any changes that happen with NOED would need to be reflected in those perks as well.
-
Yeah ive gotten a few of them
-
I did it in 3 trials, just a high mobility killer running around till i found it before i would do anything else in those matches. 2 were pretty quick before i lost 2 gens, 1 took till 4 gens, once i found them then played normal with lower expectations.
Mind you i also do this with killer/perk challenges for killers i dont have leveled up, throwing one or two matches for a buttload of bp is no issue for me.
-
The only thing i have issue with for the new ui is the score events in the top right corner, if they had kept that under the survivor icons on the left side that would have been so much better.

I am curious, is anyone else have the issue where they no longer get to keep the items they pick up from the chests within the map? I am pretty sure I have even lost a couple of high level toolbox kits that I escaped with. Does anyone know if this is something new that if you find it on the map and manage to escape you don't get to keep it or is this a glitch?? Sucks when you find a Emergency Med kit but don't get to keep it.
Ive had no issues with getting out with items but i saw in another thread people saying they were losing items when escaping through hatch, how did uou escape when you lost the items?

Hi there
I'm actually a bit nervous to post this, but I'll try anyways.
I just bought this game for PS4. A friend showed it to me and it seemed like something I'd really like so I thought I'd give it a go. I'm trying to play Spirit, but of course I'm not that good at it yet. Some maps are easier for me than others. Sometimes I struggle a bit with the first person view, but I was having fun trying.
I find the matchmaking system very confusing. When I'm matched with people at my low rank, I fare ok because we're all new and figuring things out. But for some reason, every second game when I look at the post-match ranks, I've been playing with people in green or purple ranks which are far above me (lvl 19). Thing is, I don't really care if I don't get kills at this point b/c I'm just derping around trying to learn.
But whenever I face these higher ranks, I've started getting really unpleasant messages afterwards. Basically making fun of how bad I am at the game. It's shocking to me, because you'd think they could see from my rank that I'm new. As well, it's a pain in the ass to type out messages on the PS4. Why would anyone even go to such trouble to do this? The first message or two I just blocked them. A third one I actually asked this person what possesses them to send nasty messages to new players, and he replied; "lmao I only send them to people on PS4" (what? Why? Am I missing something?).
I've had a difficult year, and I just wanted a game I could immerse myself in to distract me from real life crap. The messages are starting to turn me off the game entirely and I've only tried playing this Killer for 2 days. I find I'm hesitating even trying today because I don't want to deal it.
I guess I wanted some advice from DBD veterans. Is it the culture of this game to bully new players or something? Or else, is there a reason I'm being matched with people in much higher ranks? Maybe most importantly, is there anyway I can learn faster, maybe watching streams or something? I don't have enough friends playing the game to practice in a chill environment either.
I think I just want to decide whether it's worth it to continue or if it's just going to cause me a headache or put me in a bad mood lol.
Thanks for any help in advance. I'm halfway wondering if I'll get toxic messages here too though lol.Guess I'll find out :D
This is something that i think all decent people on console should do. I don't know how fast Sony works, but i know microsoft works fast on reports. For context i was bullied as a kid so ive developed pretty thick skin.
First off if the messages get to you, i would say just disable them. There is no point in ruining your experience because people are being douchenags.
My favorite approach however is to get right in there and trash talk them back, keeping it clean, until i get them to say something rascist/homophobic or even any swear whatsoever. Once they do that i report them and they get a chat ban at least or sometimes more. If more people were to do this we could silence the douchenags and then chat would be mostly filled with gg's and good messages.
I once did this to a guy who had already had multiple reports and he got a 3 month ban. He messaged me to curse me out when his account got reinstated, confused me cause at first i had no idea who he was until i reviewed the old chats, i laughed reported him again and never heard from bim after that.

Does the hatch open automatically when the survivor stay in a match for too long?
Because im patrolling the generator, the surv only need 1 more gen to open the exit. And i found no one for like 2-3 min. After that they found the hatch and run away, but at the end game result i found out that they don't equip a key.
So does the hatch open automatic when u staying in a game for too long?
They may have found a key in a chest.
-
I had a guy do this to me tonight saw the autohaven offering and everytime they were headed for the bus. When the one guy caught me with it i threw the game to camp him to death.
-
My policy when i down the last person and have had fun during a match, if you give up, you get hatch. If you wiggle, you get hook.

There is a big difference between NOED and Adrenaline / Hope in that Adrenaline is a reward for success and NOED is a reward for failure.
That’s why I am much more OK with a perk like Deliverance, which requires you to do something, instead of a perk like Unbreakable, which is “I went down but who cares I have a perk”
I’d scrap it entirely or make it on a token system.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1925372#Comment_1925372
The big difference being that as a killer the match is entirely in your hands. Solo Q survivor? Absolutely not.
Killers at this point still have a ton of significantly more broken things to use than survivors, who have keys and a few busted maps and that’s about it. You think these top killers, who are going on 50-100+ win streaks, are doing it because the game is survivor sided? I doubt they would be pulling more than a 2-3 k/d in a game like call of duty. It’s too easy to stomp solo Q teams if you know what you are doing. That’s why I support the hatch.
You could be the best meta looper in the world and the killer can just....chase someone else, and then swing by to pop your gen until your team is dead and they can commit to you. There is also slugging for the 4K which is pretty easy to do.
That still doesnt really answer the question of countering those perks, sure they are a reward but they are practically a free escape without NOED. I would say NOED falls into the category of a second chance perk for killers, it gives you a chance to catch up if you make mistakes.
As to the rest
1. Why even make a comparison to call of duty its a completely different formula.
2. As a killer everything is definitely not in your hands, its 4 vs 1 from the start, you dont control the perks and items the survivors bring, or the way loops are generated on the map.
3. There are plenty of broken survivor things, not just keys and maps.

That’s literally you saying “I’m not good enough to win so I crutch on these perks” which isn’t a good argument.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1925342#Comment_1925342
It’s just not realistic. On some maps where they spawn in the open sure. On huge maps, indoor maps, or maps with really good totem spawns it’s just not happening. Especially if the person going on the hook is at second stage and there is only 1 minute.
The killer gets a free kill or more for pretty much doing nothing except failing.
It has the same problem as DS/Unbreakable/Dead hard in that you are expected to play around it even though it might not exist. I don’t think perks should be that powerful to begin with. I never use NOED and I’d be happy if people wasted a ton of time doing dull totems in my matches.
Door spawns can easily be so close it’s impossible to open them without someone eating a NOED hit.
Your right that is what I am saying , I am saying that my 2 months (50/50 split) of experience, cannot possibly compete with the 2000+ hours of survivor experience that i'm being put up against.
Your arguement on the other hand is that you are too good to have to put up with one perk, even though it can be countered you cant be bothered to counter it, and want it to be nerfed/removed.
Your also not even getting into the survivor perks that it is a direct counter to (adrenaline and hope), so please explain to me your idea for changing NOED and balancing out the other perks as well

I’m sorry with matchmaking the way it is that’s not worth the time. I can be at red ranks and get literal rank 18 teammates. There’s nothing you can do to save them when they are going down in around 15 seconds to M1 killers.
And “do bones” still isn’t realistic because they are borderline impossible to find on some maps, and in solo Q it won’t even help unless you yourself go be worthless for like 5+ minutes finding them in case there “might” be NOED. Meanwhile the killer has no hex perks and you left the team in a 3v1 the whole time.
There is a reason undying is being nerfed, nobody has been able to tell me why doing 3-4 totems because of undying is being nerfed but having to do all 5 in case of NOED is not.
“Just bring a map or perks!” is like telling me “Just bring calm spirit in case it’s Doctor!” and is irrelevant. You should not need to be required to bring perks or items to counter anything in the game. There’s too many perks and abilities for that.
When it comes to matchmaking your actually creating an even bigger arguement for NOED, because killers get screwed over all the time too. Im a green rank killer and get matched up with red ranks all the time, NOED makes for a great equalizer especially combined with blood warden.

It is on a timer, from when the gens are done till the match is over.

Pretty hard if the team is scraping into the endgame with a member or two already dead. Doors can easily spawn in ways that it’s impossible to open them without someone taking a chase, and many of the pallets will probably already be gone by then.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1925305#Comment_1925305
Tell me why that logic can’t be applied to Undying. I really wanna know.
If your making it to that point with dead teammates then maybe you should have taken your share of agro and been hit earlier to help keep them alive.
-
@SilentPill said:
I don’t know how the devs will take the stance of “do bones” when they are gutting undying because “doing the same hex 2-3 times in a row is too much” even though NOED is effectively the same thing because all 5 totems need to be cleansed for it to not come into play.
There’s still nothing more annoying than playing the entire match, the killer is getting dumped on, then you take your first hit of the entire game and hey it’s NOED and you are in solo Q so you die on first hook from one attack.
Well then just dont get hit, you went through the whole match without getting hit getting through 1 more minute shouldnt be that hard.

a killer camping a hook is doing his objective? I think it's lowest level possible of thinking which I never understand but let it be though. I hope not many people are thinking just like you.
After all its a game which should be fun for both parties, or not? Whatever, do your thing, I will do mine
It may be lazy but sometimes after a hook you dont know where anyone is. If you are camping a hook and someone comes and you take the chase its not a problem its even beneficial as you get 3 survivors off gens instead of 2. It only really becomes a problem if you continue camping after someone comes in and dont take the chase.
Some people are gonna camp no matter what, but for some especially newer players if you make some noise, or come in close enough to take a hit you may be able to pull them away. It also doesn't help that matchmakimg is completely borked right now, so for some once they get that first hook and multiple gens are done its essentially game over anyways.

out of my 1.1k hours in the game I can name two times that it happened. A Kate collaborating with a nurse she also had bond which made it hard to avoid her. That Kate got a rancor/Mori with her name on it.
the second time is when I died & was spectating i was playing against legion. there were 2 people left., a bill & a Dwight. Bill sold Dwight out & up the river by pointing to his location. bill got hatch because of selling out. -_- another mori able Person there.
Now what if that dwight had been doing nothing but stealthing in lockers, barely doing gens, not unhooking, and generally just being a crap teammate. Im not saying you have to give someone hatch but if i have a useless teammate who has done almost nothing helpful all game i will do my best to get that person killed.

There's a much more simple fix for freddy, that requires 2 steps.
Pause passive sleep timer while in chase.
Make alarm clocks better by either being able to wake up at any alarm clock but only show the aura of one like it is now, or if you force the one alarm clock wake up extend the immunity to make it more worthwile 60 seconds instead of 30 seconds.
This promotes waking up which already takes away a ton of freddys power.

The title isn't as clear as I'd like it to be. There is a rash of people either suiciding on the hook, or simply attempting to get off the hook themselves rather than waiting for their teammates (usually the safer more sensible approach). Thus, we have a lot more people dying on their first hook, or on their 2nd at most.
I would suggest that if the Survivors on the hook make attempts to get off the hook themselves that it grant the Killer another Hook if/when they go to Stage-2. *If they do not attempt to get off the hook themselves, and simply go to that stage at the end of the normal time increment, it would NOT provide the bonus hook.
I make this suggestion because fewer Survivors are going to suicide on the hook or engage in the risky behavior for no good reason if they KNOW they are actually rewarding the Killer by doing so. This would serve as a soft deterrent to a self-destructive behavior. It likewise might make sure some of those Survivors live long enough to help the rest of their team.
Personally the only time i would like to see this is they actually get themselves off hook. I've had times where i was about to go into struggle so i self unhooked only to then die on 2nd hook. Otherwise trying to escape the hook yourself deserves full punishment.
