Its the only real second chance perk killers get, against good survivors 1 mistake can completely end up throwing the whole match. It also directly counters both adrenaline and hope both endgame perks for survivors.

And again, you are giving people a platform to be toxic to each other and evade punishment. A lot of Console players don't even have Crossplay on.
If they were to add it they would add the ability to hide it like there is on pc. As for crossplay it is on by default, if you turn it off thats fine too, this discussion still has merit. It is a much better system imo, as it declutters my inbox. Me personally i dont care about the salt and toxicity but not having it available creates a divide in the community between pc and console, i prefer to be able to communicate with the people i play with.

Really, they don't have keyboard and use the gamepads to slowly type symbols, which is not practical at all.
You would be surprised at how fast some people can type with a controller i cant but i have friends who totally can. Its like in the olden days of text messaging when you had to type out messages using the 0-9 dialpad on a phone if you are used to it. Plus you can hook up a keybord as well if you want.

I play a pretty even split and frankly both can be super frustrating. Alot of times when i play killer i get completely mismatched skill wise because of the long queues which is super annoying and frustrating.
Today i played 4 games of survivor all of which had afk teammates so i quit playing for the night, i play survivor as a duo not solo because solo survivor would be even worse.

Most obsession perks, if you have them and many do, you're not going to want to tunnel your obsession.
I dont run obsession perks in alot of my builds but theres still an obsession in most of my games
-
@ChurchofPig said:
So survivors get bloodpoints whether they live or die if they're the obsession in the match. Why don't killers get bloodpoints for sacrificing/killing their obsessions? My friend thought that it was because when the mechanic released with Chapter 2: The Halloween Chapter, none of Michael's perks give you any incentive to go after the obsession and it's better they stay alive. Although that's true now, old Dying Light you could not use until your obsession was dead so there used to be incentive with Dying Light. Besides, there are still perks and reasons why a killer might still go after the obsession.
- You don't have an obsession perk so it doesn't matter if the obsession dies
- You have Dead Man's Switch, Rancor, Remember Me (all 3 you either kill the obsession with or would want the obsession dead)
So why don't killers get points for killing their obsession? Even when playing with perks that cause an obsession that you wouldn't want to kill your obsession, if you're good with your selected build/killer, you're eventually going to get to a point where you would need to kill the obsession for the 4k.
I would say that if the killer gets bonus bloodpoints for killing their obsession that would kinda support tunnelling which they dont wanna do.

I agree. Killers will cry in the coments about survivors beeing bad, but they never played against multiple freddys in a row. My point is - usually killers do have some specific power: cutting loops (trapper, clown, hag), invisibility or stealth (wraith, spirit, ghostface), teleporting (demogorgon)...but Freddy? He just has everything in one..not fair killer at all...also i never understood & i never will - his stupid long lounge.
I have played against multiple freddys in a row sometimes it sucks but the same thing applies to any killer played over multiple matches. Freddy himself is not op he is strong but he isnt the strongest by a long shot. I wojld ratber play 10 Freddy's in a row than spirits or doctors.
@SaltyNooty said:
What people fail to realize is that Freddy IS P2W, You have to get him via using actual money to unlock said DLC; not to mention his skill ceiling is ridiculously low; he needs to be removed or a COMPLETE rework; not a nerf. The nerf will just raise the ceiling but it won't fix the issue.
This wouldn't have happened if the devs thought about how broken Freddy could be in an instant. Muchless how they designed him. I'd rather go against a tombstone hair tufted myers then play against him because at least with myers; it takes awhile for him to get to tier 3 and that's only if your teammates are really incompetent.
I keep getting teammates who ARE competent and know what's up when facing a freddy; you may get a warning BEFORE he shows up to the generator but that doesn't mean jack shmt if he's just there to smack your gen, look for you or give up and go back to the person he Hooked
Think of this scenario, the fewddy is carrying tinkerer, ruin, PGTW and deerstalker; He manages to down a survivor in a 10 second chase, hooks them near a regressing gen and pops your gen; doesn't even look for you and just goes back to the hooked survivor to slug/camp and down the others. Thats the easiest gen 4 I See happening and guess what, that did happen to me. The rest of the game, the other survivor got slugged, the one that got Hooked got off and downed again, both of them get hooked and he showed up to my gen and pops it, finds me and chases me off; downs me, Slugs again via teleporting to a nearby gen towards the survivors who just got unhooked (who were in the middle of healing ):and tunnels the both of them and downs the last survivor. From that point on, we were all hooked with ease and had only gotten a single generator done.
Do you see how broken he is? Thats down right OPRESSIVE and this scenario was just over 4 days ago; this is one of the main factors I hate about freddy.
I could acomplish the exact same situation with hag, demo, or writhe

Just to play devils advocate here but sometimes proxy camping especially on larger maps is the only play you really have. As an example I catch a survivor close to finishing a gen i down them, hook them, and kick the gen. At this point I may have no idea where anyone is some one could be in a locker nearby waiting for me to walk away, to get the unhook, or everyone could be on a different gen in 3 corners of the map. Unless someone fails a skill check or pops a gen nearby, that hook is my only map pressure and im not leaving it until i get a chase. Now if someone comes in to pull the killer away and they stay and facecamp well thats a different story. But i have had people give me hate for camping in a scenario like that which whatever they can do that but sometimes even though it may not be the right play it can be all you can do.
@crunchie said:
HOOK CAMPING IS CHEAP AND RUINS THE GAME.
Can the Devs please do more about this. I don't want to play this game anymore because of this. I know ways to counter it. But against bubba or insta down killers its a switch off.(or they pull you off while unhooking) . I've been playing for a long time and only see it in high ranks 11 and above. but I've been trying to get friends to play this game and now they don't want to because of this. I want to make this game enjoyable for both killer and survivor.( no I was never toxic and its right off the bat hook camping.)
- Can you put an automatic kindred after a few secs. (I don't want to waste a perk slot because of hook camping)
- More blood point loss because they always break even or pip up
- Stop the bleeding out while they face camp
- trapper traps cant put all of his traps in one area.( around the hook )
- If I do get hook camped I don't loose progression or blood points.

I know that contributes to it and I have stated that in previous comments but thank you for being someone else that's contributed to me realising you can't have an idea on a DISCUSSION post asking for ideas on a change without people instead of giving constructive ideas and compromises just like to tell you that your wrong and they're right 👍🏻
Ok then here lets discuss this. Let me describe to you a bad matchmaking experience i had last night, I'm a rank 13 killer for reference, fairly new lots of learning left. This came on the heels of losing a few games, to mostly bad matchmaking so i threw NOED into my build played a couple more games where it didnt even come into play. Edit: just for reference my losing condition is 0 kills.
Then I run into this mess of a game 4 man swf all rank 1 and 2. Match starts i find 3 of them slamming a gen I chase them off and spend the rest of the match in a 3 vs 1 chase, while i never see the 4th person running around doing gens. Every time i get one of them injured they force me to switch off with head on stuns, pallet stuns, even just looking away to dodge a flashlight blind or body blocked in a doorway. 4 gens are done at this point because they've been healing in between switches, 1 of them leaves to slam out the last gen faster. I finally manage to get a down and get the guy on the hook, i take a look aroumd with bbq and see the 2 in the distance seconds before they pop the last gen and the close one coming in for the borrowed time save. The gen pops NOED kicks in and i down the guy coming in for the rescue, look around ive got my totem close by one on the hook one on the ground an exit gate pretty close and an empty hook pretty close. So i rush the exit gate force it open to start endgame collapse and hook the 2nd guy. I got 2 kills in a game where i worked my butt of to get them. Where after i got outplayed all match, i managed to capitalize on a single mistake and turn it around. Look at the builds post game all 3 of the loopers had head on, quick and quiet, adeenaline, and iron will. If it wasnt for NOED they would have gone for the saves came off the hook healthy and all gotten out body blocking for the 1 Injured guy.
The moral of the story is that bad matchmaking for solo q you make a case for NOED to be changed. While bad matchmaking for killer makes a case for it needing to be exactly the way it is.

If I'm lucky I get some decent solos teamed with me otherwise if I don't make sure I'm putting in 110% to make sure everything gets done it's a guaranteed loss. But if you want to believe otherwise please feel free.
This once again boils the problem down to matchmaking and not NOED.

No, no, no. You can complete that one next trial. Don't be selfish.
No way this is probably the best reason imo. Maybe if you already have all the stuff you need, but me i need the bloodpoints. I can risk 5k thats fine but 20k-60k thats like 1-3 good games, I ain't risking that there's too much bloodpoint grind to risk that.

Currently, there is nothing that stops survivors from crouching in 1 area and moving a little every so often and then crouch circling a structure if the killer comes by.
This can go on indefinitely, way beyond what is necessary for the survivor to get away. Some survivors troll for long periods of time and do not even attempt to do their objective. They just troll.
There needs to be either a timer or a perk for killers that sniffs out hiders that abuse the mechanic. This is way too powerful. Do I need to download walls (since there is no security) to prevent time wasters from ruining my day or can we add something in game?

NOED: Don't like that the survivors did their objective quickly? here, take a free down and most likely one solitary kill
DS: Don't like that the killer is chasing you after being unhooked and your unhooker went to hide in a bush? here, stun them for 5 seconds when they pick you up again
Unbreakable: Don't like that the killer is getting pressure by slugging? here, get extra recovery speed and pick yourself up
Dead Hard: Need a bit more distance or don't like that the killer mindgamed you and is now right next to you? Here, press E to get to the pallet and continue looping them
Adrenaline: Don't like that the killer spent the entire game chasing you? here, if your teammates did the gens like they should you get a free health state and the longest speed boost out of all the exhaustion perks
want me to keep going?
DS- i just got unhooked and want my saviour to get away im going to body block the killer and make them hit me so i can hit them with Ds so we both get away
Unbreakable- the killer cant get me to a hook because my teammates are bodyblocking so he has to drop me im gonna pick myself up when hes gone so he has no map pressure from the down he earned
Adrenaline- we are gonna slam this last gen and then unhook our 2 teammates and rob him of any chance of a kill haha (cue NOED here to ruin this strat)
Borrowed time- im gonna go for this unhook in the killers face instead of pulling him away so someone can do a proper safe unhook because there is a 50/50 chance while he's doing it auto aim is gonna make him hit the hooked person instead of me
Dead hard- im gonna rob the killler of his down with the push of a button because he outplayed me fairly with a mimdgame at a loop
Want me to keep going?

I'm getting tired of doing my hardest to survive a game and make it to the end only to die because of a clutch perk. It rewards killers for doing bad and has almost no downsides other than being a hex (which doesn't even light up till the exit gates are powered). Sure, you can tell me to just cleanse totems but guess what? That's inefficient as #########. Even after making myself the designated totem cleanser for a few games, I quickly realized how much time I was wasting when I could've actually been contributing to my team by doing gens. Even when I ignored totems and memorized their locations, the killer usually downs me before I even get to do anything about it and before you know it, I'm dead on hook cause my teammates are cowards and leave me to die.
Ok sure fine but wehave to get rid of the survivor crutch perks too
Unbreakable- rewards survivors for notbeing able to pick up their teammates
Borrowed time- rewards survivors for making unsafe hook rescues
Descisive strike- same as borrowed time plus its weaponized by survivors

The issue is that totems are RNG reliant.
The purpose of the perk is not to counter adrenaline and hope. It is far too broad to just counter both perks, and what are the chances all survivors are running both, assuming they get value from both?
The point of NOED, as has been noted, is to guarantee at least one kill after a rough game. I've used NOED plenty, but the amount of 4K's that I've gotten after playing horribly is absurd. I'd much rather use rancor, since 1) it actually guarantees a *kill* and 2) it guarantees only one. Under the correct circumstances, which have been rather common for me, a build like NOED, infectious, and blood warden can hand you a swift victory after literally doing nothing, as long as I get decent totem spawns.
I'm not crazy about some ridiculous ideas from some other community members, but NOED is supposed to be a crutch perk. It should operate as such, not a singular key to victory.
NOED doesn't guarantee anything. I've seen plenty of times where you get a down and a hook, they cleanse the totem and get the save and you get nothing. Or you get the down and 3 get out, because they dont bother going for the totem. Yes you can make a spicy endgame build with blood warden, and if they are overly altruistic you can get more, but thats on the survivors and how they play once they know NOED is on the field.
At it's core it is a direct counter to adrenaline and hope, and your right that isnt going to come up every game but i have seen it and got burned by it by a swf group before, your also right in that it can be used in a much broader fashion when those perks arent in play, but you never know what survivors are running until you know.
If you prefer running rancor great then run it (which not everyone can if they dont have spirit or get it from the shrine). But Calling it a crutch perk is completely wrong, its a second chance perk for the killer if anything and unlike survivors killers only get one.

Taking aggro is just as much a counterplay as hiding in a locker.
As stated, Freddys down my teammates extremely fast. If I go hide in a locker, he will go down another survivor insanely fast and all I have to show for it is a single complete generator. This doesn't get me any closer to escaping. In fact, my decision to hide will likely lead to several teammates being tunneled out of the game and me dying on first hook at the end of the game.
Freddy's teleport allows him to enter chase 5 seconds after hooking a survivor. This alone makes him stupid lethal against the all-too-common survivors who don't know how to loop a killer for even 15 seconds.
Taking aggro is an effective counterplay if people are doing gens, which as you said, often they are not.
With bbq on lots of maps a killer with a well placed hook and high mobility can get into chase within 5-10 seconds which is no different.

im not wasting my time stepping into a locker for 15 seconds because my teammates are incompetent. my teammates should be working on gens as well, and i'm happy to take aggro if it means they can get a gen done.
at the end of the day, matchmaking is the real issue. Freddy's kit just compounds that issue into an unejoyable match where I watch my teammates die left and right, and spend 15 minutes holding m1 on the same generator as a result.
I Will give you that matchmaking sucks and remember it often sucks for both sides.
But if you are playing solo survivor you have to take accountability for how you are gonna play. You know from the first second of the match your against freddy and you have to be ready to counter what he can do. If your just not willing to do that dont complain he's OP, there are plenty of maps where other killers can do the exact same thing. Spirit , Billy, Demo, Nurse, all can see you on a gen with bbq and get there in a matter of seconds, which ironically it takes freddy several seconds to charge his teleport as well.
-
@KayTwoAyy said:
As a solo survivor, my biggest complaint about Freddy is how quickly his teleport ability regenerates. All too often I watch him hook, teleport, then down one of my teammates in record time. He then hooks that survivor, teleports to me, and pops my generator at 90%.
I then loop him for a time. Either long enough for him to leave me (and my gen to be back at zero), or not long enough for my teammates to
heal the injured unhookfinish a generator before he hooks me, teleports, and pops their gen.Ideally, I loop him long enough for him to leave me. But the sad reality is my teammates don't know enough to go stop my gen from regressing, so I return to a gen below 25%. I begin working on it, then he downs my teammate, teleports to me, and pops my gen when its above 75% again.
All too often I work on a single generator for an entire game, because my teammates cant loop freddy and he decides to pop my gen 6 or 7 times.
It Sounds like hes running bbq and chili once he downs the survivor if you hide in a locker until 5 seconds after he hooks them he wont know to teleport to your generator, and you'll avoid that problem.

His teleportation is free map pressure with no downsides. That's what I hate about freddy. All he needs to do is run any tracking perk and gens will never get done.
Not really if everyone spreads out then at best he can teleport to 2 gens in the time it takes for the other people to do 2 gens possibly 3 if he chases and gets a down and hook on the first teleportand that person can keep him busy for 30 seconds.

You realize this post is about FREDDY right? So the fact that you brought up pyramid head makes no sense. He’s also broken but that’s not what THIS post is about.
Yes I do and if you read my earlier post i made other comparisons to demogorgon, spirit, clown, and others. It seems that every killer is broken OP and needs to be nerfed.
There is plenty of counterplay to freddy his snares are less effective at shutting down loops than clowns gas or doctors shocks.
His teleport is actually balanced pretty well with other mobility powers, more control and distance but longer cooldown than Hag, less utility and longer cooldown than demogorgon (who can also shut down alot of loops with his shred), he also loses mobility as gens get done unlike those other ones, you also het notice that he is coming because the gen starts spurting blood which you dont get with the other ones so you have the opportunity to get to a strong tile or another gen before he gets there.

If we're REALLY going there; here's an idea, either give a cooldown to when he can teleport; like 45 seconds - 30 seconds of it so that it's not spammable. I doubt it is but i've seen the blood spurt from a gen more than 3 times in the span of 5 - 8 seconds. Also, note I didnt ignore your suggestion; I read it, whenever I do a post I read the comments I get on it and see what I can take from it. If it's nothing of value which is subjective to different people, I move on; likewise, if it has something of value i'll take that info and apply it to what I already do and dont know.
This post right here illustrates that you dont know how his teleport works and need to do some research. Freddys teleport has a fairly signifigant cooldown when he teleports, so he cant just go from gen to gen to gen. He can also fake it for a second or 2 which recharges fairly quickly which if he runs ruin and surveillance he can fake it to scare people off gens and know exactly where they are then teleport, or not teleport and just walk over and catch the person in the area.

I mean old Freddy was complete crap but they overbuffed him with his rework. He probably has the most going on in his base kit when it comes to how he affects the game such as mindless snare spamming while movement speed is unaffected, Countering Borrowed Time, Making survivors travel across the planet and back just to wake themeselves up and his global teleport. Add-ons make the game go by significantly slower but I’m not gonna get into that. He just needs something that makes him not boring to go against.
Ok so pyramidhead is op as well since he can bypass not only borrowed time but decisive strike and other hook perks too and he can send survivors to cages cross map so you have to travel far away to save them right.

I'm not being ignorant I'm giving you actual comparisons based on your line of thinking. Slugging camping and tunnelling are a playstyle that players use which is completely seperate from what killer they play. Playing as freddy still requires the same basic skill as any other killer.

I have to disagree, he does well on ANY map because of the TP ability. All he needs is discordance, BBQ, tinkerer or some perk that notifies you on which gen you're at and BOOM; he's there. Almost any killer does well on an indoors map but he excells in all of them, outdoors or indoors; like, just yesterday I DC'D from a match with Freddy because I was just frickin toxic and that map was Lampkin.
Prior to that I got into another match on cross pentus, that was another match I Dc'd from because he was camping the hell out of me and then when I matched to get off the hook, slugged me; got another got another survivor; we got both put on the hook; got down and I got tunneled. I then got a 15 minute DC penalty which I just waited out by watching YT. he's flipping ridiculous.
With regards to his teleport you get a few seconds notice when blood starts coming out thats more notice than you get with demogorgon is he OP too? What about spirit when she phases and shows up next to you out of nowhere, OP as well? Or when Huntress or deathslinger shows up undectable with Tinkerer and get you at range OP right? Clown can shut down loops with his gas OP? Nurse can teleport through a wall and hit you OP? Bubba, billy, Ghostface, and Myers all have one shot down abilities OP? Why dont we just get rid of the ability to play killer and go against ai killers so you never have a challenge. Then you wont have to worry about being camped or tunnelled or slugged.
-
I will deliberatly leave someone behind for one of two reasons, spite or bloodpoints.
If you are not on death hook and you deliberatly run the killer into me. If you have been a potato all match not contributing and survival may be the difference between you de-pipping and safety pipping. If you unhook me in front of the killer without borrowed time or come in for a recue and then proceed to loop the killer around the hook instead of trying to pull him away and i go to struggle on my first hook. I will leave you behind no questions asked.
If i have a daily or rift challenge or am going for an adept achievement especially on a survivor i havent leveled up much yet, i will only go for it if im 100 percent sure i can get it done safely. Otherwise i weigh the risk based on how you've played but i need those bloodpoints if its too risky the best ill do is try to draw the killer to me at my door so someone else can try to get you.

None of this will ever make them better. And it doesn't really seem like they care. I used to largely avoid this by playing Red Ranks, but since the Devs "accidentally" turned on MMR again it's been Rank 10-15 Killers. Which is zero fun because you can get a four or three man escape every game while still de-ranking or barely getting a neutral rank because there was almost no actual Killer interaction with anyone.
I would much rather be destroyed by a Spirit, Freddy, Deathslinger, Nurse or Blight that can pressure the map and chase. Then play against some No ED, doesn't chase camper that seems like their brain is melting from all the "stress" of playing Killer while standing still in front of a hook.
You know what else is frustrating? Being that rank 10-15 killer constantly matching up against red ranks match after match.
Constantly losing chases or dropping them altogether to go find someone else because your outmatched and basically ignoring that survivor everytime you see them. Trying to scrape whatever bloodpoints you can out of whatever you can get by camping because 3 gens have popped by the time you get your first hook, so those free hits are super valuable.
Maybe when your winning you could take it down a notch when you realize your so much stronger than your killer that they cant compete and think about the fun they are having. Im not saying throw the game but maybe put some restrictions on yourself in chase, decide to do a chase with no windows or no pallets, instead of just looping them for as long as you can until theyre demoralized and decide to stop chasing you. An early hit in a chase goes a long way to keeping it interesting, i'm more likely to chase you if i have already hit you once in the match.
Until they actually fix matchmaking (if that ever happens) you might need to try and help build up the confidence of lower rank killers so they want to keep playing and keep trying.

Well, for a crutch perk for inexperienced players, it does a good enough job. However, I don't think hail maries should be able to win an entire game on one perk's merits. I think that it should activate when the endgame collapse occurs, since that'll still give you a decent amount of time to get one down at least, and/or notify survivors that they are exposed the moment the endgame collapse begins.
Your talking about it like the killer sits there and does nothing until NOED activates and then 4ks which unless they are making a crazy bloodwarden play shouldnt happen.
Once you know its in play you have 2 options.
Either cleanse it and then go for saves so they killer gets nothing from it.
Or say screw it let them have the one and everyone else gets out.
Besides that if the killer did play the whole game and got some hooks and did the prep work to be in the running for an actual 4k theres nothing wrong with doing it as a hail mary. Ever watch an nfl superbowl teams win on hail mary's sometimes.
There is nothing wrong with NOED, it counters both adrenaline and hope, and you can get rid of it before it activates by cleansing totems. Its also a fair equalizer for lower level killers who get screwed over by the games horrible matchmaking, I'm a rank 13 killer and when i play i routinely get matched up with much higher rank higher skill survivors, so I often run NOED to even up the odds a bit.

Loading up as Oni and Demogorgon are probably the worst for this

The problem rests mainly with solo queue. Survivors can't just do bones while solo queueing because it is hard to keep track of totems and know who has done any. A map would help, but no one really uses them. I like Otzdarva's proposed changes a little better. He mentioned that the killer should have an insta down for each individual survivor hooked or remaining totems left in the trial.
Any time i solo Q if i see bones i cleanse them, mostly because if there is undying im taking out a spot that ruin could move to. Now that they are nerfing undying the only people who cleanse totems are gonna be the ones running inner strength.
A better solution would be to have more survivor perks that run like inner strength and give incentive to cleanse, or make hex perks stronger, only allowing 1 hex perk, and then get progressively weaker as totems get cleansed.
As it is most hex perks arent even worth running and need a buff anyways. The only 3 reasons to even really cleanse hex totems is Ruin, NOED and devour hope.
Edit: Maybe huntress lullaby too if you rely on the audio clue for skill checks

If my complaint about NOED is something you have heard many times before then why even bother commenting?
All I am saying is that NOED should be changed. I don't think that survivors should have to cleanse totems for no reason 90% of games only for the small chance of the killer having NOED. It is a bigger problem in solo queue and just because you don't have a problem with it because you cleanse totems doesn't mean everyone else does the same. It also doesn't make sense that totems should be made as a secondary objective made just for NOED either unless of course.
If the devs want people to actually do totems, then they should think of a better way to encourage people to cleanse them other than the killer possibly using NOED or hex perks as an excuse because not everyone uses them all the time.
There is a reason totems give objective points when you cleanse them, they are an objective and you avoid them at your peril. If you dont want to deal with NOED then cleanse them.

How does that work with adrenaline? You would also have to have more than one survivor injured which can be difficult at times especially with medkits.
Alot of good players often dont bother healing especially if you run sloppy butcher, and they know when the last gen pops they get a free instaheal plus sprintburst or if they run hope and get the haste that makes them almost as fast as the killer not running noed (Not sure on the actual number for hope).
Either way you look at it forcing the heal slows down the game giving the killer time or forcing people to find and cleanse totems slows down the game and gives the killer time.
