It seems weird to me that "anti-tunnel" perks like DS and "anti-camping" perks like BT don't actually prevent what people purport they prevent. Rather, they punish killers for doing those actions, but it won't actually stop tunneling and camping. Stabbing your pursuer won't make them not tunnel you and getting an extra health state after you get unhooked won't help you get unhooked. These are after-the-fact perks that hand out retribution in the form of a big, giant middle finger for playing scummy, but don't work to preemptively to prevent camping and tunneling

So, is this intentional, or should "anti-x" perks actually prevent what they are ostensibly counters to?

As I'm sure others have said nothing will ever completely stop people from doing what they want to do in the game unless it is made completely impossible, which if it were to happen for camping and tunneling I don't see how they could implement a change that wouldn't be abusable to high hell.

I mean look at the current breakdown bug, certain people smelled blood in the water and are abusing the it like crazy.

  • If grabs were in any way consistent you might have an argument but as they are now they're buggy as hell so their "fine"

  • I just rate it based on the map, if I get ormond or haddonfield its an immediate 1/5, if I get something like almost any macmillan maps 4/5 or 5/5

  • A borked dead hard if I had to guess or just some insanely lucky ping issues, or more likely both.

  • I always look for them but Ill be honest im not great at spotting them yet

  • Alright well your immediate assumption of wraith being balanced before is immediately incorrect, he was very weak before his buffs and he's better now but probably middle of the road with some strong add ons that could push him a little higher up the list.

  • Give him 2 spears before reloading then make him have a longer wind up to ads and remove his ability to hit through windows

  • dude he moves at 150% billy moves at 230% almost a hundred percent more its not even close

  • i would revert the Billy nerf completely minus the add ons

  • To echo a bunch of other answers heal you ding bat

  • trust me I know when there was a bad teammate, for the most part, its not hard to notice you rarely find a specific survivor isnt doing anything and ill go out of my way not to give them hatch.

  • Personally I'd say iri brick should be in extremely situational and apex motor should be in decent, those add ons even when ran with the right perks and with each other still don't do a whole lot for Billy, i did a decent bit of testing with them when they first came out and found stealth Billy more of a meme then anything even on mostly corn maps people could still have some kind of an idea of if/where you are coming from and on non corn maps they're fairly useless since most maps aren't big enough for brick to even come into play or don't have enough cover to hide your advance, same goes for apex motor, though you will get a little more value out of it but not much.

  • With a caveat that it switches based on what level the players of the match are at. At the highest level survivors are blatantly stronger, at lower levels for the most part killers generally have the advantage in most games. SWFs complicate things a little with just the ability to make small callouts here and there makes a fairly noticeable difference.

  • if its hyper specific then change it like old slippery meat was a good example, I think the upcoming change to small game is another good change. I think perks like spine chill are fine though cause although they get better use on stealth killers it still works just fine on every other killer.

  • honestly any killer has that potential if buffed enough.

  • It would change based on the killer but killers with no mobility would be changed

  • Since the nurse nerf its really ######### close but I still think nurse has the slight edge

  • Cant play him anymore not just because of his nerfs but also because I hated his VFX changes to his chainsaw and his roar. I also hate almost all of his new add ons except maybe lopro chains. I also would like to note that before his change I ran him almost exclusively add onless with the exception of drift king which is now dead because bhvr hates fun.

  • Tbh he still needs some work yes he is significantly better now and if they left him as is I'd be okay with that but he's still on the weaker side of killers imo.

  • I'd definitely would say spirits biggest issue is her lack of counter play, I wouldn't even mind if she got a minor buff alongside this, but something needs to be done I'd say probably a mix of both 1 and 2 and then a duration or speed buff or some other ######### idk, she may not even need a buff but I wouldn't mind it.

  • Cheryl with her black hair cosmetic is kinda hot ngl

  • I play on pc and run on all low settings and the game runs at between 100-120 fps usually but anytime a gen pops someone uses dead hard or many other activities my game freezes for a sec

  • It would depend on the amount of people who find it awful to play against that killer if the whole player base hates going against a killer then yes I think a REWORK is necessary not a nerf though. For instance I do think spirit is in need of a rework, a slight one but yes she needs some work.

  • Solo survivor sucks and all my friends who played dropped it because of the grind and bugs.

  • I'd disagree with some things but he also has a lot more hours then I do and he plays at a much higher level then I do, so im a bit conflicted on it with some of his placements, namely billy being in C tier and twins being in A tier other then that though I mostly agree with him.

  • earliest is next chapter but they rarely do large reworks or buffs during chapter updates so it would be not the next mid chapter but the one after the next chapter so probably like 6 months

  • bro you're like a broken record at this point.

  • Yes almost ever killer has a cooldown of some kind but why do they need 1 not every killer should have the same or even similar mechanics I mean pig also doesn't really have a cooldown she can spam her dash as much as she wants, not a good idea but she can do it, and yeah wraith doesn't either nor should he. It just feels like lazy game design.

Lopro is fine now, engravings don't feel good to me at all granted I barely used them before but they certainly don't feel better then before, and mothers helpers are only decent when ran with at least enduring and even then I'm not a fan of it. Also having like 2 arguably 3 decent addons still means he has mostly garbage addons, cant even drift king Billy anymore because of overheat.

Everyone would just "accidentally "die to her.

my controller would "accidentally" get unplugged

she would be the only killer with a kill rate of 100% even if you nerf her

Nah there aint no "accidents" for me, the second I see who the killer is im running into her arms.

Otz put Freddy B-Tier in last video. That 4.7.0 version ofcourse, so nerfed Freddy. Do you agree or you thinking he is still A-Tier?

I'd agree with the top of B-tier, I never saw Freddy as being unbelievably strong and definitely never top tier, to me he was always just a strong killer with an insanely low barrier for efficient play.

It doesn’t need removal. It needs toning down

At this point I'd say it needs removal, I just don't see the point in it. Cause they either tone it down till players barely notice it for it to be bearable or remove it, and if its barely noticeable what's the point of having it in the first place other then to use it as an excuse to fill up his add on slots with more useless garbage then it already has.

I never cared about Add Ons to be honest. I used Hillbilly without Add Ons since forever, and I am not starting to use Add Ons now. I tried Engravings and the brown Overheat Add-On, but the extra Chargetime messes me up all the time, but other than that, I dont use Add Ons. So I did not notice the Add On-Nerf at all.

The thing is tho, Charge Time and Cooldown-Add Ons were pretty problematic on Billy, and they had to find an replacement. He has quite an easy power, there is not much they can give him without making the Add Ons too good. Which results in a lot of "fun" Add Ons.

I was there too, before his nerf I never used add ons anyways so the only thing I cared about was the overheat mechanic and at first I was okay with it the overheat dissipated pretty quick and its build up was manageable then they made it worse cause people were having too much fun or something idk.

After they renerfed him I continued to play him and it was just awful even running his better overheat addons the brown and yellow, only made it feel okay, but then I couldn't play him without those addons and that felt bad on top of my annoyance with the overheat mechanic.

Then the final nail in the coffin and why I just cant play Billy anymore is the new sounds associated with his nerf, the chainsaw getting more high pitched the higher the overheat was just another mild annoyance, then his stupid roar every time you start a sprint was funny at first and now is just another stacking annoyance.

It all culminated in Billy going from by far my favorite killer to the point of basically only playing him to now me honestly hating playing him.

  • I wouldn't get your hopes up for Jason his intellectual property rights are wrapped up in some very messy lawsuits and not because bhvr doesnt want him. I mean they also threw out scooby doo and I highly doubt their IP owners would ever let it in DBD. Outside of maybe an outfit or a charm, and that's a fat maybe.

  • Probably just ping and you got lucky but he might have also just not lunged or lunged out of range and wouldn't have hit you anyways

i am not saying DBD is the most toxic community, i am saying that it fits the criteria of being a toxic community.

How so, the majority of the community isn't toxic and there aren't really many things that are actually toxic that can be done in game, you cant even swear in the endgame lobbies anymore. If just having a few rude dudes every 10 games or usually more classifies DBD as having a toxic community then I don't know a single online game that doesn't have a toxic community.

I try not to throw around terms like "toxic community" unless it actually represents the majority of my experiences of a game.

  • A lot of the old animations are pretty bad especially trapper's, wraith's and hillbilly's. They could definitely use a glow up.

  • I think the reason is because the hatch wasnt meant to be an exploitable easy way out but a last resort for the last 1 or 2 people cause with that reasoning it makes more sense for the hatch to be a reward for someone who has survived to be the last and found the hatch.

Just because it doesn't get to you that doesn't make it not toxic. But what also makes the community a toxic one is not just how they act in game but also how they act outside.

I mean if they're a-holes on a forum I wouldn't tack that onto the overall communities image and the forums are all way worse then the game itself I guess because the majority of people who come onto these forums are here to make a complaint.

Also just because it doesn't effect me doesn't mean I cant recognize when someone is being toxic and even by that metric DBD is way more tame then other communities.

  • if they have no option but to let you bleed out say for instance there is no hook nearby or they fear a power struggle key play then its at least understandable but otherwise I'd say its at least a little toxic cause you are just intentionally wasting someone else's time

  • probably jeff might also be because his abysmally low pick rate combined with my own bias as he is my male survivor main, my female survivor main is Cheryl and i'll be honest I see aggressive Cheryl's at least somewhat often.

  • @Yatol said:

this community is toxic, i play many game with Toxic communities and this one is very similar to them (and even worst in some instance)

I'd disagree i've also played pretty much all the major games known for toxic player bases, but I've never been shot in the head or berated by some A-hole over VOIP in DBD sure people can sand bag or tunnel or camp and sure those can be annoying but other then that the only thing people can do is leave a mean message in a post game chat or on my steam profile both of which have easy solutions hell there is even a chat filter now so you cant really even call me anything that could be construed as offensive, though tbh there isnt much in the english lexicon that would offend me to begin with.

I'd also say the majority of my experiences in this game within the community has been fairly positive most of my endgames are just ggs or empty and sometimes nothing but complements sure some are just gonna be people ranting about how you played in some regard but I can just leave a bad rating on their profile and leave.

Are those games not matched based on W/L percentage? (You can tell I'm not much of an online gamer, lol.) That's what seems like the most blatantly common sense matchmaking system to me. This guy's won 5 matches and lost 100, pair him with someone with a similar ratio. Don't throw him against someone who's won 794 matches and lost 42 just because their arbitrary "rank" on a 20 point scale happens to fall within the 8 point differential.

I have to admit that I kind of like the perk tiers, I find it satisfying to see the stronger version of my favorite ones showing up in my bloodweb. That doesn't make it any less of a grind though, and usually the differences are very small (I can't remember which but there's at least one perk out there that grants something like a 5 / 6 / 7 percent difference in something. I mean really?

I also don't like that teaching perks means that other characters still have to grind through the tiers. I made the mistake of thinking that any tier of a perk could show up in any other character's bloodweb at any time. Nope, it seems like I get the teachable perk at maybe level 15 or 20, then the 2nd tier of it around maybe level 30, then the final one around level 40. I thought that I'd be able to enjoy raising a new character's levels WITH the teachable perks, not level all the way up just to GET them.

I mean sure having the tiers can be a sense of progression, a couple other things i've thought about or seen others suggest is to make it so that as soon as you unlock a teachable that perk is available on ever character of that type in its tier 1 version, would solve a few issues like make getting teachable a lot more satisfying as well as make it so that level 1 characters aren't so awful to level up and would give people a much better sense of progression as they level up different characters blood webs.

Another thing i've thought about was to make the stacking BP effects of BBQ and WGLF base kit and buff or leave alone perks as the devs see fit, I dont like the idea of having a farm perk really and BBQ is practically a must use for a lot of people regardless of if people like its aura reading abilities same with WGLF, as its a bit of a weaker perk overall, not bad though with its somewhat recent buff.

  • Pretty sure the whole DBD is toxic is just a meme that got out of hand and now people who just play the game are called toxic.

  • @Yaassin_q8 said:

Yes but slightly, when playing against 3-4 swf

Their map offerings should not work and the perk "object of obsession" should not work when in a 3-4 Swf.

No, I see no world where making it more annoying or limiting in any fashion for people who play in groups to be a good idea, a lot of people dont like playing the game solo queue so obviously only really play swf, its the main reason I play almost no survivor anymore as solo queue can be very annoying.

So why punish or limit those people? the majority of swfs are better then a team of solo queues yes but so what that's the case in any game ever, its more so in this game since it has no in game voice chat or really any proper way to communicate what they plan to do at all but that's not the fault of SWFs that's the fault of devs seemingly refusing to improve solo queue outside of band aid fix perks.

So again for those in the back, THE SOLUTION TO BRING SWF AND SOLO QUEUE CLOSER IS TO BUFF SOLO QUEUE NOT NERF SWF.

I'm a survivor main and run dead hard purely to avoid getting downed during a chase. A lot of killers seem to think this is a strong perk, when I'd say it's a very half and half type of perk. Half of the time, it'll benefit me and the other half, I'm exhausted on the ground, dead hard a bit too early, or dead hard but get downed bc I'm in a dead zone. It's also an exhaustion perk, so I'll only be able to use it once during a chase (unless I happen to quickly get my exhaustion back). So if anything, I feel like it's very balanced and countered. Don't get me wrong through, I can see how you go for a hit and miss bc of dead hard, but I don't think it's enough to "get rid of it" especially bc killers are faster than survivors.. Is that not fair enough??

I'm sure you've already heard this argument but when used correctly DH can be not only un-counterable but can extend a chase for awhile.

  • 1 thing they could do is to remove perk tiers. Would help massively reduce the annoying grind.

Not really. He still poses a threat against Survivors who get cocky against him,

Trust me.. he doesn't need that much of a buff..

ANY KILLER can pose a "threat" against bad survivors, I've seen people 4k on old Haddonfield with old wraith using no perks or add ons, I've seen BK Myers 4k. Don't get me wrong he's not bad in chase but I wouldn't even say he's top 5 and considering his complete lack of anything else in his kit that's what puts him so low on most peoples tier list.

  • Blood hunts should happen at least once a month, I have a few friends that quite the game because of the grind and I don't blame them.

  • @FrostySeal said:

It's truly amazing how awfully designed Trickster is, in fact, I'm willing to say that Trickster is pretty much the equivalent of old legion in terms of how awfully balanced and designed their powers are. Against survivors who share a braincell each, then yes, Trickster is good but who isn't against bad survivors? Anything he does can be done significantly better by literally any other killer. Killing survivors because they're in a bad spot? Bubba can do that better, and so can 90% of the Killer roster. Camping? Once again, 90% of the roster can do it better. Trickster is one of the worst Killer's BHVR have ever put out and it really shows with how the community thinks about him.

Yeah pretty much though Idk if they are worse in design then the twins, at least trickster can be kinda fun to play, but he has a bit of a old legion problem of not really have much counterplay even though they arent good.
