I like this but knowing how most of the people on this forum who play survivor, which i do play every now and then will disagree because its a nerf to them. They would want a nerf to the killers as well and we all know what happens then the cycle repeats killer ask for a buff and the survivors want a nerf. That´s just my opinion.

I'm a survivor main and I find that noed actually makes any of the killers a threat and gives the game some tension.

@akbays35 Too many pronouns/acronyms, lol. Which game are you referring to that has a player base that's twice more than... StarCraft 2? Which game has a stable player base? DbD?

If that's what you're trying to say, my point was that it would very quickly not have a stable player base if half the world couldn't actually play the game anymore without getting unplayable levels of lag.

maybe, but considering the ops post, they definitely need better and more secured connections .

  • @Fibijean said:
@akbays35 Again, I suspect that was much easier because they built that into DG's business model from the start. So it was written into the code of the game, and they had dedicated staff for it. Plus, DG only has servers in the US, Europe and Asia. DbD's player base is much bigger, so they would need more servers than DG ever had if they don't want to lose a bunch of players (which DG wasn't in danger of because it was a new game to start with).

the player base is just twice more than sc2. There's a lot of bad decisions that BHVR have done to this game and it still has a stable player base, but I think that's due to the weird combination of random terror and goofy bugs that make this game hilarious.

Killers are too powerful. Even with some of the best perks as a survivor, they can find you as if you're standing out in the open.

Problem comes down to objectives and the time allowed in game. Killers have more objectives than the survivors and it honestly takes the same time to do a gen as it does to chase down a decent survivor. Good survivors can still win a 3v1 against a mediocre killer.

  • I really think it needs the Deliverance treatment where it can't be activated unless you save a team mate and it doesn't have the save function, you get one shot and that's it.

Oh yeah I almost forgot about him. cant even remember the last time Ive seen him, maybe early-mid september?

....My point! No one uses him, let alone remembers he exsists!

I see him more than doc and trapper in purple ranks. He's a solid killer, he really doesn't have any weaknesses besides pallets, but the has the best mindgame control of any killer and the most attack consistency.

  • Been using Urban Evasion, Iron Will, Sprint Burst, and Small Game. Pretty much for quick finding hex totems and being sneaky and I find the healing nerf to be extensively long for self care or pharmacy to heal up.

Short answer: it costs time and money they don't have, because they're prioritising other things. At the end of the day, it's your choice to play the game and put yourself at risk. Legally, the devs aren't responsible for anything that happens to you because of a P2P connection while playing their game. Whether they're ethically responsible, however, is a whole other argument, but people who run businesses tend to give ethics a backseat if there aren't legal ramifications.

To be fair, I don't think the devs are heartless monsters. I imagine from their perspective it goes something like "this is a risk to our players, but fixing it requires a lot of time and resources. We need to prioritise making money, because a) if the company goes bankrupt then there's no game at all anymore, and b) we need lots of money to fix this issue".

yet they put servers on Death Garden....

Hey all, so I've been having some odd experience with recommendation vs usage of perks. I have asked for a lot of tips and help and generally get very helpful results, and as expected some recommendations don't work but everyone has their own strategy and I understand that. However more often then not I get A LOT of recommendations to use the perk BBQ & Chilli. I recently went for and got the "Adept Cannibal" trophy and obviously to do that I had to use the perk and it was the first time using it considering I don't have any teachable perks yet from the shrine. I was excited to use what I assumed would be an excellent perk.

However, in practice it was close to useless to me. Every time I hooked a survivor I would head straight to the revealed location of the survivor even taking a path that would cut them off when i watch what direction they're moving. By the time i get to the point I should run into the survivors, i do a quick search for anywhere they could be hiding and somehow they manage to get to the hook. I have tried using this perk in a variety of different ways and it has never helped.

Am I using it wrong? Am i suppose to see if someones aura is NOT shown and search the close proximity? Because i did that too. I dunno why so many people gush over this perk, it doesn't seem all that good.

best farming perk in the game, mixed with a long distance scouter, so you can read the survivors power levels, IT'S ALWAYS OVER 9000! Also it's a must have for billy and nurse, they can really capitalize on it.

Killer lobbies are bugged again on PC. Has nothing to do with lack of Survivor players. If there was a lack of Survivors, you’d get stuck waiting ages for others to show up in lobby with you to play Survivor as well. Unless you are a 4 man stack of SWF. This happens after major updates all the time, then the developers do something with the net code and things are back to normal.

It has nothing to do with Survivors getting nerfed or being unappealing to play.

it's not exactly a bug, there is a random influx of killer lobbies at different times of day, I usually can't play killer until late at night when there's less lobbies.

  • @SovererignKing said:
The point was to actually get Survivors to try playing Killer for once. Vise versa for Killer only players.

Developers have been trying for AGES to get players to at least try the other side. Few incentives needed for Killers to play Survivor, but you need a massive push to get Survivor Mains to actually even try Killer.

They wont cause “Killer is stressful and not fun”. Mostly cause they know it’s not fun dealing with Looping, meta perks, and being Gen Rushed our the ass.

I don't play killer cause the lobby time is and always is ridiculously long, I can get into 3 survivor games before I get one killer lobby filled.

  • Cosmetics 8/10, would be perfect if there were more survivor options, wraith and doc look amazing.
Mechanics 5/10, I like the idea of a new objective, but with the bleed timer change and pallet changes was over the top imo, had to get used to pairing up with a team mate to harvest then do objectives.
Lore 3/10, its trickling in but I am checking the new daily logs.
Community Reaction 1/10, players are complaining about killer lobby times and grinding vials. I hate how the games are either farmers or campers or being destroyed by billy. I think most of this stems from a huge balance update on top of a unique mechanic introduced into the game, it was bound to make a salt mine.

  • you can also see it if you fall down, it does a slower walking animation before you sprint unless you have balanced landing.

Like guys devs are not going to do anything and spaming the forums with the same topic over and over again won't change that. I won't lie I was pissed about the event at first but only because we could only get 1 skin set which was bs if you ask me. However now all I see on the forums is people complaining about really dumb things like extra bp for survivors after 30 vials or games not fun anymore. Honestly if anyone is going to complain, complain about how long killer wait time will be in the future that's the real issue and only major one I see. Things like survivors farming then killing themselfs or its too hard for killers to get vials or even just complaining about dumb things in general can you people just stop. If you are so pissed off at this games event go play a different game that has an event going on.

    1. This event happened the same time as a huge balance patch, pallet nerfs, hook spawns, and healing increase.
    2. This event was clearly tilted towards killers.
    3. The cosmetics were aimed more towards killers.
    4. People like to play this game, they should voice their opinions when things are going unfairly and the devs do react to player input.

Every survivor game (which as a killer man you are forcing me to play if i want cosmetics for free) is horrid. Killers run moris and farm survivors constantly and do anything in their power to screw over the survivors from getting nectar. Then to top it off survivors have to do an extra objective ontop of looking for a limited resource on the map. All while the killers are running the usual NOED and ruin ect. that slow down progress even more.

This system is the worst layout of an event to date. If you wanted survivors to have something extra to do you should have increased hooks to death to like 5 for the event. This game mode is one sided and is bringing out the absolute worst in our community. I think regardless of the next event I am going to have to bow out. I don't want to get so irritated I quit. which is where this event has me right now.

my main issue with the event is just getting burned out by playing so much.

  • Honestly I like the farming games more than the tryhard camping tunnel killer games, those are the most unfun experience because I can't do anything in game or get any serum and the killer doesn't need to camp

Is there a specific time I need to play killer just so I can get started on the vials?

more people are playing killer for the vials so theres less survivors in lobby and more killer lobbies.

The afk killer is probably streaming netflix in the background while deranking, thats why the latency isnt the best
(sorry if that was me, but I think you can deal with a slightly higher ping in an afk game)

it's not a ping thing, me and a kate were running around the killer and vaulting over a pallet to 'escape' Kate would have the same issue but it happened at different intervals to both of us. Like my character would be frozen in place for half a second but kate would still be moving normally and she would have the same issue and be stuck in place a half a second. It's actually a substantial issue because it seems like the devs are really hammering problems into vaulting and seeing the issue with pallets I can't help but feel like this is intentional.

Then I dont know what you are talking about. Ive never experienced sth like that unless in a laggy game

Vault a pallet 20 times in a row and you'll see it.

  • It actually slows the game down pretty bad since survivors are hunting for them harder than hex ruin, I'm lucky that I just run into event farmers but any decent killer will get an extra 2k just from the slowdown. I know you guys are trying to balance swf but you buffed camping/tunneling and are slowly destroying this game.

they cant be tunneled if you don't unhook them and just do gens... objectives over altruism especially if you see the killer just camping a location.

That's kind of the problem, they gave survivors so many tools to be stronger than killers that they are all being nerfed away. When you have a good team, the killer is always destroyed even if it's a nurse. If you're a good player with a bad team, you can always get the hatch. If you get camped, just play more stealthy and be more cautious next game.

Most perks have a trigger to them except for these two perks. I think DS needs a Deliverance treatment where it can only be activated if saving another survivor, and Sprint Burst can only activate if a killer uses his power near the survivor.

i dont run DS and if sprint burst went from an A perk to a F perk then i would just run dead hard

Sprint burst isn't better than dead hard, just braindead and easier to use.

well thats your opinion... in my opinion when im going against a pig/michael/any killer using a exhaustion take off like docs tier 3 exaustion or even clowns intoxication exhaustion every day 75% of the time it helps to use sprint burst since i can stay on my objective longer and still be able to run away. also since i usually get camped when i run sprint burst unlike dead hard which most killers bait out at high ranks i can just run away with sprint burst and heal with self care and the killer will usually lose me.

yeah but having it trigger based on the killer using their power would be incredibly clutch too and give you insight if they are running a stealth build it would also in this way work as a detection skill with reaction. The exhaustion add ons also show how SB is still stronger than any of the other exhaustion perks since it has no map or action requirement.

oh no i must of insinuated i agreeded with this person no i dont i think SB is ok like it is and doesnt need to be activated according to the killers power i was saying if it was changed it would go from an A perk (really good) to a F perk (really bad) but with the exaustion add ons they annoy me because i use dead hard and end up not being able to use it because a killer used a add on that stops my perks. do survivors have items that stop killer perks? not really.

yeah but I get the same issue with balanced landing if there's no place to fall from if I'm caught out or Lithe when it decides to bug out and decide when I'm in a chase or not.

  • I am a fan of Tyde, but competitive enviornment would probably kill this game the same way it weakened League. The game wouldn't be about having fun it would be about metas and winning and we're already at this state. Winning doesn't matter for survivor its about how good you do, and they need to enable this for the killer instead of forcing them to rank up by sacrificing survivors. I have more fun farming and slugging as doctor and trapper than I do having to 4k as a billy and nurse.

  • @TigerKirby215 said:
The situation for Decisive Strike is being downed. Giving it a hook requirement would be interesting, but I'd rather just nerf its core so that it's less cancerous as a whole.

As for Sprint Burst: the lack of any activation requirement is a mixed blessing for it specifically. You're forced to either walk normally as to not waste it or spend it and potentially not have it when the killer arrives.
The issue with Sprint Burst really lies with the recent Exaustion nerfs and how Exaustion killers (Clown and Huntress) apply Exaustion with on-hit effects, which means that SB (which allows you to avoid being hit the fastest) is the most reliable choice against those killers.

A suggestion I once saw for Sprint Burst was to have it activate after sprinting for 3 seconds. That would allow players to save it while still running between generators, and would also give ranged exaustion killers a chance to hit the survivor before they can get their "running start" and escape.

it kind of makes it a brainless skill in that way too. Remember the Exhaustion nerf was to limit the amount of people using sprint burst and to balance chases for killers and it didn't really work. Half of the survivors I see in my games get sprint burst and ds, I've done perkless runs and non exhaustion perks and done better. I think of it with skill level and requirements. If there is a requirement to using sprint burst, then it will actually require skill to use with DS I don't feel like 1 perk should have so much power over the other side and think there needs to be an altruistic action to allow it to function in the first place. Cause right now, the devs are just going to nerf it into the ground and force different killer animations cause they cant think of ways of fixing it.

  • @grtf47 said:
DS is a one time use thing while SB or BL can be used more than once. DS is perfectly fine and in fact could use a buff because it’s hard to hit due to how fast the ticker turns, and is hard to hit especially with the doctor.

it's such a problematic skill for killers, they spend so much time having to down a survivor and then they just get a free heal and a stun. if there was some kind of requirement like healing a team mate or saving a team mate then it would have a delay on it.

  • @DexyIV said:
SB needs to be more situational imo I'll admit, but I'm not sure if making it based on powers is the right thing to do. Logically it makes sense. It would make it useful against killers like Billy and Nurse, and the range you'd get the sprint burst would determine if it would be useful against Myers. Would also be weird to use in some cases against killers Trapper and Hag. Would it activate if you spring a Hag's trap? Or only when they place one?

It's not a bad idea, but I'm not sure if BHVR would be willing to make such a change with so many interactions. Seems like it would introduce a lot of inconsistency and bugs along with it.

Both I would say for hag. whenever an ability is activated or deactivated like with wraith or pig with their stealth. Trapper would be the only one it would be inconsistent with but that would be and interesting trapper buff. It would also give killers some counterplay around the ability since they can just slug.

  • at max level its 25% so it would be about 7-8 seconds extra, sloppy butcher only increases time by 20% so thats 6 seconds, if it's additive it probably increases it by 13-14 seconds total, if you throw thanatophobia in that's 6%+3%for each wounded survivor more the mix it would add 2-4 more seconds. Coulrophobia would increase it by 50% while in terror radius so that would be an extra 15 seconds. This actually would be a solid build since you're reducing all survivor actions by this amount and not just the healing.

  • Sc takes too much time and it's going to take longer after the next patch.

  • @ClogWench said:
DS wouldn't be bad but Sprint Burst would then suddenly only be useful against certain killers and useless against others. It's in a good place, albeit overused.00

idk, I think it needs a trigger of some sort and thought that would be a decent one. Lithe activates during chases, dead hard requires you to be wounded, balanced landing requires falling.

, Killers objective is downing and hooking a survivor and that takes about the same time as 1 gen for most games.

In what world are you playing?

Yes, one hit is usually 30-40 seconds plus carrytime, that's roughly 80 seconds for one hook.
But during that time, 3 survivor can do THREE different gens.

there's usually one guy doing chests and totems so the 1-2 gens seems more plausible in game assuming the killer isn't chasing a guy that is next to another survivor attempting to get the gen done.

  • Look Tyde's point is moot, you cannot equivalent 1v4 is scope of power, survivors don't need nerfs, they need more opportunities to make mistakes and that's the biggest issue at high ranks is that survivors don't make mistakes that low ranks do. The other issue is objectives for both sides, Killers objective is downing and hooking a survivor and that takes about the same time as 1 gen for most games. I think they should make the gen time longer by just 5 seconds and hook death timer shorter by 5 seconds to see if it has any game impact. They are working better on maps and looping so it might get better after a couple patches.
Hook camping is dumb because it shuts down the game for 2 people, both the killer and the survivor and the devs need to give a passive bonus (bloodlust t1 maybe? or quicker actions on a pallet or gen after hooking? or a quick power increase) for leaving the hook instead of punishing them.
I think Freddy just needs a minor buff to either his power range or sleep timer, I also think him and Wraith should be able to nab survivors off gens while in stealth states.
Death Garden is kind of a wake up call for BHVR and frankly the hunters were op, I watched many streams of that and only saw Hexy win a couple games as runner.

  • Thing is, objectively you are playing the game well and playing how this game was probably intended. This was intended more for hide and seek and not just parkour/360/looping. Really 'chasing' is actually abusing map locations.

  • @PhantomMask20763 said:
I think once this patch goes through we'll be seeing some killers running hangman's to not deal with the newly buffed sabo but aside from that, I don't think the meta perks will actually change. Nurses calling will still be powerful, ruin will continue to get cleansed in the first 45 seconds, enduring will continue to amaze and then there's bbq which every killer will continue to run for the bp bonus. It seems as if there won't be any other meta perks. The same can be said for survivors too with self care, ds, iron will and and exhaustion perk. We'll also probably still see adrenaline, Borrowed Time, WGLF, and urban too. I love to run different builds but when others run the same thing every match it gets pretty stale, and I'm pretty sure the devs said they don't wan to see the same perks run every single match. Anyway I'm excited to see more perks get buffed so we can see much more variety.

healing time with sloppy butcher and thanophobia will almost be in line with gen times 45-50 seconds or more, more people might pick up resilience or botany knowledge just to counter the nerfs.

  • I'm a survivor main, but I play as killer at the same rank and I side with any balance changes towards killers as long as it isn't nurse or billy buffs.

I feel like its killer speed and actions vs area of map and objectives. Everything a killer does slows them down

Yeah, this is by design. Otherwise if every action was instantly performed, you could just chase survivors for the entirety of the game with no downsides. You have to pick your actions selectively, otherwise you'll spend too much time doing one thing. Just comes with learning how to play killer.

The problem isn't that aspect of design, I do feel like Survivor should get a chance to survive, my issue is with their objective side is heavily tilted in their favor and just want different and unique spawn locations for gens so "useless" perks would have a chance to shine and maps as well. They are going in the right direction with some changes but I feel like pallet spawns may be broken next patch.

New gen locations would take a lot of resources to implement and wouldn't really do anything for the killer, since the survivors would eventually just learn all of the spawns anyway. Making each map a maze to find generators in would just be frustrating for newer players while not solving the problems some killers struggle to deal with.

No I mean they would be randomized for every match, you couldn't memorize a location anymore and they would remove the markers of where a gen is (poles, flickering lights) meaning maps, deja vu, and detectives hunch would actually serve a purpose in the game. It would actually make a somewhat level playing field for newer and older players if the game had more randomized and difficult elements. These would be amazingly helpful for a killer, that few seconds that survivor need to find each gen could weight the whole outcome for the game. They aren't difficult to implement, they just need to tie it into the map spawn and just make sure each gen spawns x amount of meters away from each other they just went the lazy route to have gens spawn in like 2-3 optional spots in the same basic area but maybe 10 meters apart.

Once again, that would take a lot of resources for development. And you can't truly make the locations for something like generators random. It just wouldn't work. You'd have generators that would be angled weirdly and wouldn't let survivors get on them, or would cause them to phase through the wall. If they were to drastically increase the generator spots to prevent this instead, the same argument I made would apply. What you suggest simply cannot work in any way and it isn't worth the change. There are so many other fixes they could do that would improve the state of the game at all levels way more than this would, which would, once again, just prove to be frustrating for people more than it would be effectively buffing killers.

that's a lot of naysaying bro, it's an object in a video game, just generate more potential spawn locations it's not hard you just make a better algorithm for distance and location values, they do that with pallets literally every game and been doing it for chests and hex totems slightly better.

Plus if you're gonna be pulling out the wasted effort card from BHVR I must remind you about Death Garden they wasted so many resources on a game that in no way would be interesting or popular, they essentially copy pasted Juggernaut mode from other shooters and added a timeout mechanic.

They have the best asymetrical and mutiplayer horror game on the market, they need to keep improving it and keep the game fresh and interesting. If they keep just buffing killers and nerfing survivors there's going to be more frustration from power creep than by making fixes to the mechanical issues that lie in game, namely maps and objectives of 1v4. They are doing their best to remove infinite loops, and pallet heavy spawns so I give the Devs props for making good adjustments. Really all I'm saying is make the objectives balanced for both killer and survivor, randomization for survivor objects will do more than straight buffs and nerfs since killers always have to deal with randomized objectives from the survivors.
