Ideas for DS and SB

Most perks have a trigger to them except for these two perks. I think DS needs a Deliverance treatment where it can only be activated if saving another survivor, and Sprint Burst can only activate if a killer uses his power near the survivor.

  • DS wouldn't be bad but Sprint Burst would then suddenly only be useful against certain killers and useless against others. It's in a good place, albeit overused.

idk, I think it needs a trigger of some sort and thought that would be a decent one. Lithe activates during chases, dead hard requires you to be wounded, balanced landing requires falling.

  • I think that's the idea though. It doesn't have a trigger, which also means you can't run without using it up. So you either risk not having it or you walk everywhere.

The automatic use keeps it in check, and the exhaustion nerf. Sprint burst is fine as of the 2.3 patch and isn't an issue. Just overrated as it is braindead and weak because it lacks a condition like other exhaustion perks which can create a gap midchase. A trigger would make it stronger. It's fine where it is, a burst of speed when you first start running.
  • SB needs to be more situational imo I'll admit, but I'm not sure if making it based on powers is the right thing to do. Logically it makes sense. It would make it useful against killers like Billy and Nurse, and the range you'd get the sprint burst would determine if it would be useful against Myers. Would also be weird to use in some cases against killers Trapper and Hag. Would it activate if you spring a Hag's trap? Or only when they place one?

It's not a bad idea, but I'm not sure if BHVR would be willing to make such a change with so many interactions. Seems like it would introduce a lot of inconsistency and bugs along with it.

You can still be out of position and not be punished for it. SB is still a stupid perk in that regard.

Sprint burst is fine, really overhyped. I do fine at high ranks even as freddy when everyone has sprint burst. Sprint burst isn't what's damning to me. I know it is braindead but it is elevated due to the amount of people eho use it. It isn't the strongest exhaustion perk, just overrused and more prevalent.

Both I would say for hag. whenever an ability is activated or deactivated like with wraith or pig with their stealth. Trapper would be the only one it would be inconsistent with but that would be and interesting trapper buff. It would also give killers some counterplay around the ability since they can just slug.

I just have a problem with how the other exhaustion perks received a nerf because Sprint Burst was so reliable to use. Granted it was a good nerf overall, but it's bad design to nerf a mechanic because one aspect of it was overperforming. And this is coming from someone who doesn't use exhaustion perks.

Nothing wrong with the nerf, balanced out by exhaustion resetting when you get hooked. These changes are made to help shorten chases as the game is survivor sided and finally having some tools taken away from them. I play both killer and survivor, use exhaustion perks or just no mither. Survivors have it too good.
  • DS is a one time use thing while SB or BL can be used more than once. DS is perfectly fine and in fact could use a buff because it’s hard to hit due to how fast the ticker turns, and is hard to hit especially with the doctor.

Here we go again gather round boys and girls its time for the ds talk. Ds is a fundamentally broken as it grants the survivor an additional chase. One use is still one additional chase which in DBD is ridiculously huge discounting the fact that it can occur up to 4 times if survivors are savvy on where they get downed. A skill check is a pathetically weak excuse for its power Like noed it gives way to much power for a perk and has incredibly awkward counter play as no other perk can compare to it.

Before you add hur dur run enduring or unnerving presence those are soft counters. 3 seconds is more then enough time to reach a pallet when you use the perk in a smart manner. Also unnerving presence is so bad in high ranks it actually speeds up games as you are giving survivors more skill checks which translates to more greats. Rank 1 survivors who are not boosted will hit that skill check and it will seriously mess up the killer. Deliverance is a great example of what ds should look like huge consequences with a requirement needed to be met. Ds should be a team ability that stuns the killer and opens up opportunities for body blocks and flashlight saves. losing a hook without admirable application of skill is pathetic. Skill checks don't demand skill they are a mediocre challenge that gets mastered within two months of play.

  • I actually find it harder to ge great skill checks at all and it sounds like you are talking about the best survivors who can hit great skill checks all day. I can’t and many others can’t either so how about this. Ranking system should be changed, DS works differently in different ranks. That way lower leveled players don’t have to deal with the changes made because of the higher level players. The problem is people will de rank possibly but they do anyways to play with more in inexperienced players

Ranked affecting perk effects is iffy, and weird. Perks and abilities should be universal.

it's such a problematic skill for killers, they spend so much time having to down a survivor and then they just get a free heal and a stun. if there was some kind of requirement like healing a team mate or saving a team mate then it would have a delay on it.

  • The situation for Decisive Strike is being downed. Giving it a hook requirement would be interesting, but I'd rather just nerf its core so that it's less cancerous as a whole.

As for Sprint Burst: the lack of any activation requirement is a mixed blessing for it specifically. You're forced to either walk normally as to not waste it or spend it and potentially not have it when the killer arrives.
The issue with Sprint Burst really lies with the recent Exaustion nerfs and how Exaustion killers (Clown and Huntress) apply Exaustion with on-hit effects, which means that SB (which allows you to avoid being hit the fastest) is the most reliable choice against those killers.

A suggestion I once saw for Sprint Burst was to have it activate after sprinting for 3 seconds. That would allow players to save it while still running between generators, and would also give ranged exaustion killers a chance to hit the survivor before they can get their "running start" and escape.

That's also a huge buff however, so no lol. It is not worth giving it that just so it can be hit with exhaustion. The buff will allow you to vault or pallet, and then choose direction once you're safe.

Sprint burst is fine how it is now. It's a burst of speed when you sprint, let's keep it that way lol
  • Sprint burst is ridiclously overrated. I regard it as the most new player friendly exhaustion perk as it allows weak survivours to last longer. The dead hards and balanced landing exhaustion perks are better as you often you have better control of when you use it and you dont have to walk around the map in case the killer starts a chase with you. You often don't see it coming as killer or it forces the killer to play in a sub optimum way.

DS is extremely hard to hit with Doctor especially if he is running Unnerving Presence, that much I agree with what they were saying.

I’m not huge fan of the suggested change with DS where the killer is simply standing in place for two seconds.

Not EVERY perk needs a counter. DS does have counters in Unnerving Presence and Enduring but as you mentioned they are soft counters.

I believe the best bet for a DS is have it be like Deliverance were the survivor suffers from the broken effect for a certain amount of time. The ENTIRE rest of the round is overdoing it just a little bit.

I used to run DS but I switched it out simply because I wanted to change up my perk loadout a little bit. Honestly I don’t see A LOT of survivors at my killer rank (between 8-12) run DS. If I have Rancor on 80% of the time the obsession doesn’t even have DS.

it kind of makes it a brainless skill in that way too. Remember the Exhaustion nerf was to limit the amount of people using sprint burst and to balance chases for killers and it didn't really work. Half of the survivors I see in my games get sprint burst and ds, I've done perkless runs and non exhaustion perks and done better. I think of it with skill level and requirements. If there is a requirement to using sprint burst, then it will actually require skill to use with DS I don't feel like 1 perk should have so much power over the other side and think there needs to be an altruistic action to allow it to function in the first place. Cause right now, the devs are just going to nerf it into the ground and force different killer animations cause they cant think of ways of fixing it.

However even then doc is a low tier killer on account of his stun being useless on many looping spots. So at that point your playong a weak killer to sort of counter ds.

Perks with a power level so high you need hard counters. Its the nature of balance. There should be consequnces and weaknesses to ds. Breaking the killer grasp is way too huge an advantage for a broken effect if you ds you should be moriable.

well thats your opinion... in my opinion when im going against a pig/michael/any killer using a exhaustion take off like docs tier 3 exaustion or even clowns intoxication exhaustion every day 75% of the time it helps to use sprint burst since i can stay on my objective longer and still be able to run away. also since i usually get camped when i run sprint burst unlike dead hard which most killers bait out at high ranks i can just run away with sprint burst and heal with self care and the killer will usually lose me.

yeah but having it trigger based on the killer using their power would be incredibly clutch too and give you insight if they are running a stealth build it would also in this way work as a detection skill with reaction. The exhaustion add ons also show how SB is still stronger than any of the other exhaustion perks since it has no map or action requirement.

Able to be moried? That’s harsh. Especially since the person who used DS will more than likely get downed instantly again especially if the killer runs Enduring. Not to mention that there is a perk to punish survivors with a mori who use DS, Rancor. More than half the time when I do run Rancor and mori somebody they didn’t even have DS, they were just the unlucky ones to be named the obsession.

DS is broken yes but it doesn’t need to be punished as harshly as people say it should. It’s been in the game for about two years now and I’ve learned to deal with it. Not every game has a DS you know. I mean if people reeeeally wanted to nerf DS then a suggestion would be to increase wiggling speed by a certain percentage rather than a skill check to escape automatically. However I think the increased wiggling speed would be better suited for Boil Over.

SB needs to be more situational imo I'll admit, but I'm not sure if making it based on powers is the right thing to do.

I'm mostly saying this for the future, so that the other exhaustion perks that don't prove to be much of a problem don't get nerfed as well.

i dont run DS and if sprint burst went from an A perk to a F perk then i would just run dead hard

Sprint burst isn't better than dead hard, just braindead and easier to use.

well thats your opinion... in my opinion when im going against a pig/michael/any killer using a exhaustion take off like docs tier 3 exaustion or even clowns intoxication exhaustion every day 75% of the time it helps to use sprint burst since i can stay on my objective longer and still be able to run away. also since i usually get camped when i run sprint burst unlike dead hard which most killers bait out at high ranks i can just run away with sprint burst and heal with self care and the killer will usually lose me.

yeah but having it trigger based on the killer using their power would be incredibly clutch too and give you insight if they are running a stealth build it would also in this way work as a detection skill with reaction. The exhaustion add ons also show how SB is still stronger than any of the other exhaustion perks since it has no map or action requirement.

oh no i must of insinuated i agreeded with this person no i dont i think SB is ok like it is and doesnt need to be activated according to the killers power i was saying if it was changed it would go from an A perk (really good) to a F perk (really bad) but with the exaustion add ons they annoy me because i use dead hard and end up not being able to use it because a killer used a add on that stops my perks. do survivors have items that stop killer perks? not really.

  • Other kills dislike SB? Is that the vibe I'm getting from OP? I think it's one of the weaker survivor exhaustion perks. They are limited to walking/crouching the entire round to avoid burning their SB. I'd rather them have SB than BL or Lithe TBH.

It's very very very predictable when a survivor has SB too. Just run up to them, make them burn it and run to another survivor. Easy counter.

yeah but I get the same issue with balanced landing if there's no place to fall from if I'm caught out or Lithe when it decides to bug out and decide when I'm in a chase or not.

  • DS has been in the game for a long time and killers still win. It doesent  need to be nerfed and honestly I see a bunch of killer mains whining. Grow up and deal with it.
  • If the devs' concern was Sprint Burst activating twice during a chase, then why not prevent exhaustion from recovering while being chased by the killer instead of not recovering while running like it is now?

It goes against the whole idra of the game - you down someone, you get a hook. It cheats the killer out of a hook and it gives the survivor a +1 health state for free. There's nothing the killer can do to stop it and all this based on a selection made before the match even began.

Imagine if you got shot down in Call of Duty and then you could just do a skillcheck and get back up. It's completely broken and ruins the game for one side.
