  • I'll play devil's advocate here:

You only want a rework because of how strong it use to be. You want another crutch perk that's easy mode for survivors. How do I know? Because you aren't proposing buffs for other survivor perks that have been useless for even longer than MoM was. When the dynamic of a modern DBD trial is completing gens as fast as possible (and they are fast, you know this already), adding perks like MoM (with absolute no counterplay other for the killer to just "suck it up") just makes the trial a little ridiculous. Let's be honest here, we know certain things should have never been implemented in the game, and MoM was one of them.

  • I put him on the bottom of the tier list where Freddy use to be. His power just isn't good:

It can't be used with Exposed.

After gaining Killer Instinct, it's hard to catch other survivors unless they are very close. You'll go into cooldown. The last nerf made his Frenzy speed way too slow.

Deep Wounds doesn't really do anything. If you hit the survivor once with your power, you should cancel it. Hitting them twice gives them two speed boost and they'll be completely on the other side of the map without even ending the chase.

    His add-ons are mostly useless.

Really, the only benefit to using Legion's power is hoping pallets and a slight speed increase. It's just an overall bad killer. That being said, if you plan on farming BPs, it's relatively easy to farm BPs with him. That, and he such a brainless killer to play. It's chase and M1 basically. So yea, I think he's pretty terrible.

  • I've taken quite a huge break as well. I maybe long in every few days to do a couple dailies and that's it. I doubt once WoW Classic is released I'll hang around TBH. I'm having a hard time enjoying the game anymore. I experience more frustration than fun lately.

  • I recommend every new killer start off with Leatherface. He's a great starter killer and you'll learn the basic fundamentals of the game such as looping and patrolling gens with him real quick. Grind out BBQ, and grind some more and funnel your points into Hag afterwards until you get the Ruin teachable. By that time, if you took my advice you should have a fair enough understanding of the game to choose what killer you want to play next, and best of all you'll have the best two meta perks Ruin/BBQ quickly available to that killer.

  • I dodge super mainstream streamers just because the dynamic of the game is changed. When you have a streamers with 500+ viewers, there's a good chance they are gonna have super try-hard survivors try to jump in que with them with their best items and perks to try and impress. This just isn't the type of game I want to play, I rarely even use add-ons. I'll be honest with you, most of the time I play it's just to grind BPs.

  • I highly recommend watching streamers Zubatlel and Scottjund play Huntress. They've got months of previous vods, so you can watch until your heart's content. This is really just the best way to learn. Watch how they deal with loops and practice it on your own time.

Practice their methods instead of forming bad habits on your own, that's how you get good.

  • I think something that could help is by adding infinite randomized minor rituals. So we could keep our daily rituals but after you are finished with them, have minor rituals that would award something like 5k BPs and you could do as many as you want. Randomized rituals will pop up (e.g. "Complete 1 sacrifice with the Clown"). You get a new ritual for every ritual you complete.

It would encourage people to play a variety of killers so they complete the rituals for the additional BPs. People that do not want to participate can continue to play killers as they choose and just not earn ritual BPs.

    *edit

Same with the survivor side having continuous rituals.

  • It's kind of redundant at this point. 57 killer perks x 3 tiers each (level 1, 2 and 3) x an average of ~50k BPs per blood web multiplied by 15 killers. Do the math:

(57 x 3 x 50,000)(15) = (8,550,000)(15) = 128,250,000 blood points to get all perks for all killers. For every killer they add to the game, add an additional 8,550,000 bloodpoints. This is just with the assumption you don't prestige at all.

I mean this is just INSANE. For a new player coming in the game, can you imagine them trying to get up to date just to get P0 with all perks on every killer? Now, I agree with a grind. It makes people feel like are doing something, but it's not very engaging with the current system. This is the type of system that encourages massive burn-out and makes people play other games. I reeeeaaaaalllllly wish they'd implement a different system especially with the influx of new killers.

  • A off-brand streamer beat me on a trial I was casually playing on a weaker killer. I was just grinding BPs and not even using add-ons, trying to make the game fun for everyone. Super casual, laid back game on amazing internet I think most survivors would be thankful for. This guy decides to BM me at the exit gates to look cool for all 8 of his viewers.

As luck would have it, I got him again in my lobby the next trial. So what do I do? Grab Billy, equip some add-ons, meta perks, Ivory and play a map. Find him first, instantly hook him. Buzz off to the side of the map and did a U-turn to double back on the same hook as his predictable SWF team unhooks him. Insta down him and mori him. I wrecked his game and smacked around his SWF afterwards.

Ofc dude hangs around his lobby to talk smack afterwards. But he was pretty furious after I checked the vod on his stream, "rhee I hope he comes in here to talk smack so I can ban him rheeee". Pretty funny, but he got what he deserved. Toxic people cry the hardest when you beat them at their own game.

  • I'm not a fan for petty reasons. I don't like losing stacks because I hit the obsession. That's just me though. If it locked in at 8 stacks, I'd probably use it on my M1 killers.

  • @Acromio said:

Of course. Can't wait to trololololulz think again the killer with MoM+DH+DS+ADR.

Let's see how that works for you against a decent killer:

DH - easy to bait and high skill cap perk. Good luck.

    DS - Enduring

MoM - sure, your one time crutch ability might save you

Adrenaline - cute, you think you'll survive all gens being completed.

Survivors that use something like this set up are really gonna be in for a surprise. There's much better perks that would benefit them much, much better.

  • Xenomorph would be amazing. Watching this movie as a kid, the Alien use to freak me out. Xeno is truly a scary killer.

It's one killer that I've thought about a lot. Personally, I'd want a hybrid of Billy and the Pig. I'd like to see a high mobility/stealth killer. In the movies, Xeno was always quick and sneaky. That seems fitting for Xeno

  • The killers that counter MoM are the higher tier placed killers. For regular M1 killers, it's just gonna make them weaker. I'm not sure why they didn't test this perk first before implementing it.

  • My only issue is with certain killers like Clown. His asthma throws me off so much I can't hear normal survivor breathing over his. Or like Huntress, where you play her so long you her freakin' tune stuck in your head and start humming it yourself. Kind of wish, playing as killer, you could disable those sounds.

If you wonder why people are dcing, its because you play legion. Survivors are tired of the whole deep wound, then break chase and proxy until they drop on the floor. Cant really blame them because the game is for fun and that isnt fun. Same reason you cant blame killers for insta dcing on Haddonfield or wrecked shop, super unfun to play on.

On the other hand the numbers of DCs on first hits (not Prayer beads spirit or legion im talking about) its very problematic. I feel if you dc you shouldn't be able to reque for 5 minutes and you ought to take a 20% penalty to BP the next 2 games, to dissuade this while not penalizing the people whose dog tripped over the Ethernet cable too hard.

Is this troll bait? You're not punishing the killer by DCing, you're punishing your teammates. It makes the match less fun for killer sure, but in the end who really suffered for your decision?

Second, you can't get mad at someone for using something that's in the game with the intention of being used. By your definition, no killer should ever play Legion right?

  • Like.. survivor forced tunnels? That is, a teammate rescuing you when the killer is RIGHT THERE. Tell your team pre-game to use their brain or use borrowed time if they wanna make bad plays. This is a hard pill for survivors to swallow for some reason, but this isn't the killers fault because your teammates are bad.

True tunneling? It's like a worse version of camping. The killer is wasting all his time on you. Use dead hard, DS, and waste as much of the killer's time as possible. If your bad at looping, use evading/sneaky perks to try and get away. If your team has a lick of sense, they should be burning through gens with no map pressure from the killer.

  • Someone probably dropped the ball on accidentally revealing the info. I can sympathize with their decision. My only gripe is to hold off on adding more survivor perks until they can be tested like everything else released. We're still figuring out the content from last chapter.

  • Any killer can instantly grab a survivor off gens or whatever. I think you may be referring to sort of a meme Spirit build. With some of her add-ons, she can phase walk without you hearing hear. She'll bump into the back of you during the phase walk (then know your there), come out of phase and grab you.

  • @Acromio

    ??

Are you saying pallet loopers are exploiting?

  • (Exhaustion Perk) I'm fond of BL because of the passive bonus.

    Kindred

    Adrenaline

(Whatever) Pharmacy/Ace in the hole/Borrowed time

  • Despite what survivor mains say, killer takes much more skill to play efficiently than survivor does. Not to say being good at survivor doesn't take skill, don't take that the wrong way. I've had plenty of trials as survivor where I didn't even see the killer the entire trial and escaped easily. You can be an extremely skilled/optimal looper and loop the killer without even getting downed. But you can also be a mediocre survivor and loop the killer for a super long time just by going pallet to pallet.

As a good killer, you're essentially a quarterback. You're calling the plays, overseeing the game, keeping track of generator progress, mind-gaming survivors for quick downs. Not only that, you have to have to understand how your killer's powers work and also know what the survivors' perks are. It's takes a lot of work and frustration to become a good killer.

  • I say GG regardless of anything. It's just good sportsmanship. Problem is everyone wants to get butt hurt over everyone's playstyle and this game becomes a salt fest.

  • Probably because they are tired of playing against her.

  • Great job necroing a 2 month old thread guys.

  • DCing is an issue. People rage quit on me all the time. Doesn't really bother me because the survivors are just screwing each other over, not me lol. Rage quitters is an issue that plague most games and most games don't do anything about it.

Punishing DCers is kind of a sensitive thing. People have computer issues, internet issues, real life issues (this is a VIDEO GAME) etc. So how can you justify punishing someone because their kid was crying or something? It needs to be light enough so it's not really that big of a deal but harsh enough to punish people that repetitively do it.

Honestly, out of all the games I've played, I think HoTS had the best punishment for disconnecters. Just make it so if youDC, you can only reconnect back to the trial you quit from (and leave your character in the game instead of dying).

  • The issue is the hatch mechanic, not the exit gates. Playing hide'n'seek with the last survivor for 20 minutes while they find the hatch is redundant. End game is usually very quick with the exception of the hatch.

  • Yea, he's strong but that's okay. Killers need a couple strong killers. If you try and make every killer Wraith tier, this game just won't be fun. Nerf Billy and he essentially becomes scuffed Leatherface, and Leatherface needs a buff. So, do you see the problem with swinging the nerf bat around?

  • image.png

Basically I don't use it unless I am playing Nurse. It's the only killer that benefits from the little bit of wider view.

  • It happens to everyone especially if you don't use tombstone often. You might get anxious or the survivor is about to get to a pallet/window and you pull the trigger too quick. You have to be right on them and actually see the "kill" prompt.

  • His weakness is playing the trial normally. He lacks mobility, has a huge terror radius, no way to mask his terror radius, one of the tallest killer (can see him over loops), can easily be looped, has no way to slow the progression of the game down. He's a scuffed Billy.

His only strength is his AOE chainsaw with the chance of hitting multiple survivors. Any decent, rational thinking survivor won't fall for this and allow this to happen. So although it's one of his strengths, it's a weak strength because you'll seldom AOE down good survivors. This is why the meme basement build exist.

  • Hands down Franklin's Demise. A lobby full of toolboxes/medkit is getting a troll build with Franklin's. I don't necessarily plan on winning the trial but it's so fun running around claiming everyones tool boxes. Someone has the keep the survivor add-on count in line.

  • I think it's fine for a looping build but on the overall grand scheme of the trial, I think you'll suffer in some areas which may turn out to work against you. Without a perk to slow down gens or at the very minimum a tracking perk, you're gonna have a rough time.

The time it takes for a 110% killer to traverse a map with no guarantee of finding a survivor is a pretty rough hit to take. You'd probably be better off swapping Brutal Strength with BBQ or Ruin. Brutal Strength is kind of an overrated perk IMO anyways, the time it saves is so minute.

  • I didn't use it anyways. Even with the buff I probably wasn't gonna use it. It's so overrated. You know how hard it is to keep 4 survivors injured the entire trial? It takes 80 seconds to repair a generator for a solo survivor. With the full thana improved buff that will add 19.2 seconds assuming you can keep every survivor injured the entire trial.

You'd be better off with so many other perks. The only way you see value out of thana is with some specific Freddy or maybe Legion builds.

  • I don't think any decent killer "relies" on Ruin. It's so RNG with totem spawns. Seems half the time your totem is destroyed in < 1 min. IMHO it's a very boring perk to run. I'd honestly use Pop Goes The Weasel instead if it was on a token system instead of a timer. The problem is Ruin is the best of the gen regression perks, but it's still bad.

So, for me it's a 5/10. I'm okay with or without it. I use my builds based on the type of perk it is. For example, I'll use one tracking perk, one gen regression perk and two chase/utility perks.

  • bbq/enduring/spirit fury/ruin is pretty much meta for all perks with exceptions with killers like nurse or hag.

  • W is the counter.

  • Dono, I personally think he's garbage. Weird how people think he's good. He's kinda fun to play I guess but he seems to be lacking stopping power. If a Freddy is better than him, that's saying a lot.

  • Tunneling is singling someone out to kill them for whatever reason. If the survivor unhooks when you're 20 feet away and you double back to insta-down that survivor, it's not tunneling, it's punishing bad altruism. If you happen to find the same survivor twice in a row because they aren't good at hiding, it's not tunneling, it's punishing the worst survivor on the team.

Some killers will "play nice" and try to avoid targeting that person. That's nice, but just know, you are purposely handicapping yourself for the sake of the opposing team. You need to be aggressive and try to confirm a kill as soon as you can. If you are actively trying to give survivors a chance and hooking them one at a time, you're probably gonna lose. You will end up at the end of the trial with 4 survivors remaining who have been hooked twice each.

That's good and all if you want to play like that, but at the end of the game, did they ease up on generators for you? Did they take pity on you when they instantly found your Ruin? I am playing killer to chase and hook you, I do not expect you to do me any favors and sacrifice yourself to make it easy for me and I will return that same favor in my general gaming.

This is just my opinion so play how you want.

  • 1.) Bad players that can't take responsibility for their own badness.

2.) DS players that DC because they missed their DS.

  • That's why I think rank should be independent of other peoples' rank. It should just be random matchmaking. This would take care of the inconsistent ranks.

"If they are getting completed that fast, you aren't pressuring the survivors enough. Doing gens is literally their only objective, what are you doing to stop it? "

You obviously do not get that. It is a flaw at the core of the game. The Devs never calculated the times right. They expected the survivor to play stealthy and trying to avoid the killer and bunching up to help each other. But that's not the way good survivor play. They play EFFICIENT. And the whole chase calculation is just completely off. It is a major misscalculation that puts killer at a severe disadvantage against any decent team and they do not have to be SWF, they just need to follow some simple gen rush rules and pick the right perks and can repeat that without any trouble.

Take a look at my calculations and tell me what the killer should do.

Most killer can't apply any more pressure than chasing anyone and with SELF CARE around just switching targets and spreading out the damage isn't working at all.

With ~35 sec per hit and SC needing 32 sec it doesn't help the killer in any way to switch targets and drop chases.

The killer needs survivor to make bad decisions.

If both sides play on the same skilllevel, the killer will lose with 1K max.

To get more the killer has to be waaaaay better than the survivor.

Sometimes I admit that it helps to switch targets, if you can spot a weak runner that you can take advantage off... but exactly that the Devs try to take away by artifically protect those easy kills from getting "tunneled".

So I will ELI5 this since this topic has completely went off the rails.

There is a huge difference between a new killer (my OP was directed at) not pressuring gens correctly and optimal players finishing gens super quick. This topic quickly went from giving advice to a new killer straight to gen rushing. To tell him a new killer, "gen rushing is a thing and it's there, you can't do anything about it" is just wrong advice. If you really believe this, then you are just a bad player. This is the truth. You can absolutely pressure gens. You can strategically let survivors complete certain gens, you can try to 3 gen a survivor team, you can chase survivors away from gens. I do this every game because it's necessary on certain killers. But none of this advice was given to this new player seeking help.

    *Edit

And so, so many killers form bad habits which make them bad player. They tunnel the best looper on the team for 4 gens then complain about gen rushing. Here's a hint, the worst survivor on the team is just as good as holding M1 down as the best looper is. I do believe gen completion rate is an issue, but I also believe killers are generally bad players (like the guy I mocked initially) and don't know basic gen pressuring techniques. Then they blame the game mechanics when it's their fault. Go watch a Zubatlel game and see how often he is "gen rushed". Spoiler, it doesn't happen because he's a God.

You guys were so occupied in your own agenda you jumped down the throat of the first person to give this new killer advice. That's where the topic derailed into optimal players gen rushing. Get over yourselves, this isn't what this was about.

You cannot pressure the gens with the non instadown killers because they lack map presence, is this hard for you to understand? We need to traverse the map, hitting a survivor takes more than 20 seconds unless they ######### up, downing a survivor takes at least 40 seconds unless they royally screw up.

Marth is by no standards a very good survivor, he's average and they're not even using the best toolboxes and setup to rush those gens.

You tell us to pressure gens, that's funny because when we try to chase 1 survivor away from a gen that is nearly done and kick that gen, all it takes is a single TAP for them to restart it. They can even restart it mid chase if the gen is either in a jungle-gym or close to a very loopable spot which most gens most of the time are.

But since you think all those killers are just bad then go challenge them, they basically ######### over scottjund while being perkless, he had to camp the second survivor to get a 2k against itemless perkless survivors and the game hasn't changed THAT much to offset this hard imbalance. I imagine actual survivor mains would be able to do MUCH better than them.

Yes obviously. I've feel like this conversation is going no where and you are completely missing the context of what I am saying.

  • You are linking Marth's depip squad and I am very familiar with it. This is kind of a poor example to use if you are debating gen completion rate because they are a coordinated SWF group perk'd up with the intention of rushing gens. If I was a dev and I saw this, I would view this as an extreme and unlikely scenario. Why not just use an average killer's clip going against a decent group of solo survivors and the first 3 gens being completed in like 2 minutes?

I think people are misunderstanding my post. Even with Marth's depip squad, guess why the gens weren't completed? Because they were not pressured enough. This is the way to game is designed and it's not going to change until it is redesigned.

This instead, should open a new can of worms. Like, why don't they add more things for survivors to do. Or buff weaker killers so they have greater map pressure? I've said it time and time again, people play Billy and Nurse because they are the only two killers with decent mobility hence greater map pressure.

  • Whispers is definitely not garbage. It's one of the strongest perks a killer has.

  • @MhhBurgers said:

So basically you want us to hit you once, then give up the chase, get back to the other gens that are being done, chase of the survivor and hit the gen just for him to come back later and tap the gen so it stops regressing. Meanwhile the first survivor healed up in 30 seconds and tapped the gen that you chased him away from if he managed to work on it long enough.

It's been proven over and over again that except for 2 killers the other killers do not have enough mappressure to deal with genrush on most maps.

I didn't say gens weren't completed very quick. If you read my post, I said with the way it's designed, it's just the way it is. It happens to me all the time. It's happens to the best killers. I have matches on my killer where I absolutely bully the survivors, end of with a 1K and 30k points and they will still complete gens and win. It happened today actually, their highest teammate escaped with like a 17k score vs my 30k. With the way the game is designed, this was my fault for "losing" for having chases last too long and not pressuring gens enough. The bottom line is I let survivors complete gens.

Survivors have literally one objective and that's to do gens. That's why "gen rushing" is a thing. So again, you can sit here and try to defend your lack of pressure on gens or try to better the next round. Until the game is designed differently, this isn't going to change.

  • I think the issue is it's not really proportioned well. When I first saw the picture when people started making fun of it, I thought it was altered because it doesn't look natural. She looks odd just like Kim Kardashian.

  • Usually as killer i end up having to go an extra 5-10 minutes because of the hatch player who needs his extra bloodpoints.

It's an issue for every killer not running a tracking perk. I kind of wish they would add some kind of default whispers after a certain time just so the match will end already. Or a time limit on the hatch would be great. The best thing you can do is either run Whispers or find a high point on that map to find the other survivor. Or go AFK.

It's not a complicated concept. If a survivor isn't being chased, they're most likely doing generators. I know this is a hard pill to swallow for other killer mains, but if gens are completed and you are sitting at the end of the trial twiddling your thumbs saying, "oh gee wiz, they gen rushed me", you probably didn't do something right in that trial.

With the way the game is designed, this truth isn't gonna change. So you can sit here and try to defend being a poor killer with memes or adapt and become better at the game.
