  • If people aren’t frequently DC-ing, they shouldn’t get penalties from occasional internet outages. That’s why you get a freebie for the first one. I don’t support anything that makes DC-ing less punishing because people still do it way too frequently. Honestly, I think the punishment for DC-ing should be harsher.

Does MMR even exist? my lobbies always differ. i think it's just like new player mmr then everyone else after a certain point.

Even brand new players get put into my lobbies on a regular basis (I have >2,000 hours). I see players with less than 50 hours all the time. The matchmaking system is just completely non-functional.

Survivors are the weakest they've ever been. They're basically lambs to the slaughter. I actually played DBD when survivors were strong and had great meta perks like old Dead Hard. I can tell you that's no longer the case. These days Windows and Deja Vu are what passes for meta. Playing survivor is now as hard or harder than playing killer.

I remember when survivors and the meta perks were stronger, and also remember how ridiculously long survivor queue times were during peak hours because nobody wanted to play killer. Now the queue times are much more balanced during peak hours. Yes, killer queue times are long during off-peak hours, but that has always been the case.

  • Skill measurement/matchmaking is by far the biggest problem in the game - way more than any supposed killer vs survivor balance issues. But for some reason, BHVR continue to refuse to address this huge problem.

  • You should be able to trade hooks most of the time. If a survivor team can pull off a hook save without giving up a trade, then I just tip my cap to them for a job well done. I don’t think killers should be entitled to free endgame kills.

take a look at the gain, loss, and peak players + disatifactoon While the peak is up heavily the gain isn't as opportunistic and taking a look at community trends there is less interest. The anniversary event also has shown to have a less players staying than previous years. Where it would be hours of gameplay per person ended up with maybe an hr or less. That's what had it genuinely worrying. While it is a short term success its facing a similar trend. Thats the heads up. Aka right now is a great time to fully win players back.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/612NLFMGBGF6/1000005596.png

I still have no idea what you’re talking about. What do you mean the “gain isn’t as opportunistic?” Of course they could always have more players. Does the fact that they don’t have literally every person on earth playing mean that the game isn’t more popular and successful than it has ever been? The current average over the past 30 days is higher than it has ever been, by a pretty decent margin. I am struggling to understand how you are somehow interpreting this as a failure on BHVR’s part.

  • By what metric is the game “starting to face its decline more than ever?”

Because these forums tend to be whatever side you don't main. I swear I notic if a killer comes in an complains about something every survivor will show up and tell they how wrong they are and they need to get good but you don't get to main other killer players coming in agreeing or have a positive thing to say. The reverse is ture for survivors as well. Alot of people on here prefer to tell you how your wrong then actually have a discussion or make constructive criticism.

It just gets so old to have this happen time and time again when someone tries to start a legit discussion only to have people who only play one side derail the conversation by taking cheap shots (that have nothing to do with the topic) at the side they don’t like.

  • @Wyndsor said:

You're not going to find sympathy in this killer-sided forum, but honestly who cares about grades at this point?

How are you concluding that this forum is “killer sided”? And why would you even bring that up when that has nothing to do with the topic, other than to turn this into an “us vs them” argument? You know, some people here actually play both sides and will stand up against things that are broken on either side.

  • @Royval said:

Posts like this makes me believe genuinely more than half the playerbase never has played killer before

Yep, 100%. I have no problem if people choose to only play one side, but then at least refrain from telling the other side how they should play or commenting on game balance because they have no idea how their demands for balance changes negatively impact the side that they don’t play.

Nightlight at least give information on thousands of player which is definitely more of a picture of the situation then taking just one player saying they got 80% kill rate.

Its definitely not the best but since it literally the only large sample size thelat we get you have to take it into consideration and can't just say we'll mine or this one person's stats are more reliable then its

It doesn’t matter how large the sample size is. If the data are selective self-reporting, then the data are by definition tainted and invalid. People could be only reporting their wins or only reporting their losses. We have no idea.

  • Hopefully never. He’s just far too oppressive against solo queue, as he is orders of magnitude stronger when survivors can’t coordinate on comms for who is going to the box and who is doing other stuff like saves, heals and gens.

  • @MeduSnake said:

Reduce the radius okay or make it slower charge but what is the deal with it just straight up being gone?

I had a match against a Bubba and he chased me for 3 generators. At some point I had no pallets left and he downed me. He face camped me and my teammates had no chance to save me because of his chainsaw.

He didn't even try to find others or down the one person that tried to reach me.

Yeah I’ve have a ton of matches like that. It sucks to not escape when you basically carry your team to a win. But as others have said, disabling anti-camp at endgame would guarantee free escapes most of the time which I definitely do not agree with.

The key problem here is the fact that players can play really well and still get punished with lower MMR (and thus worse teammates in their future matches) if they don’t happen to escape. I would feel much better about not escaping in these kinds of matches if I at least know there’s still some reward for playing well. I won’t spend a single $ on this game until BHVR address this travesty of a skill-measuring system. They’ve promised changes in the past but at this point it seems they’ve abandoned those promises and have no intention of ever changing it.

I'm so sick of facing him. Every round is the same garbage. Either you are the person getting tunneled out or you get nothing then generator simulator for the entire round. If someone finds and reports a gamebreaking bug that get's this abomination killswitched for the rest of the event I will send him 100$

Agree Jason is super boring to face. A lot of players still have no idea how to counter him, and if you’re lucky enough to have competent teammates, the match is a 30-minute (or longer) crouch walk simulator. BHVR didn’t bother to consider that Jason’s design explicitly discourages interacting with the killer.L

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

No, they said any feedback will be used for future iterations of the event.

Which, as we all know, ain’t gonna happen. It is the standard boilerplate response that they always give when the community are upset. The community really only have themselves to blame though because nobody is actually leaving the game because of their supposed dissatisfaction.

  • The main reason solo queue is often a frustrating experience is that the average player is just not very good and often has terrible game sense, or they are doing side quests for achievements that don’t do anything to help your team win. After playing both sides for a long time, I’ve come to the conclusion that the frustrations in solo queue are like 90% due to bad teammates and 10% due to broken/OP killers. With competent teammates, I can escape pretty consistently and even if I lose I still enjoy the experience. It’s why I often disagree when I see posts about the game being too killer-sided.

I was a brand new player once so I remember what it was like to not know what I was doing (heck, we all were at one time, right?), but a lot of players never take time to learn about looping techniques, how to pay attention to HUD, how to counter killer powers/strategies, macro gameplay strategy, etc.

That’s quite good and certainly if I had your experience I would draw the same conclusion as you. Even if I have a different experience than you, I very much appreciate that you’re at least basing your conclusions on your own personal experience. What I can’t take seriously is strong opinions about balance from people who only play one side, because they have no idea what the other side is experiencing.

How are your results though? Because, like @FerrousFacade, I haven't lost much. I'm doing better in the mode than I do in regular. Once you learn how to play around the survivor toys, it's not that bad, and them trying to use them to swarm and body block is keeping gens from getting done and causing them to be out of position and injured when it doesn't work. It's a frustrating mode, no doubt, but you can do very well with the right killers.

I can’t say for sure because the stats page doesn’t distinguish between regular and event matches. The only success I’ve had in the event as killer is playing as Bubba which seems kind of lame given it’s basically an automatic down if you hit someone with the poison. But with any other killer it has been pretty rough. It’s “play with Bubba or Hillbilly or lose badly”.

  • @mecca said:

    Its not survivor sided though.

It's very miserable playing survivor with how oppressive the game is.

Literally everyone, even the most survivor-biased players, concede that this is a very survivor-sided event. Speed boosts, free heals, free teleports, free invisibility, free invisibility, unbreakable pallets that make literal infinite loops - like, what else do you want?

You really need to try playing killer sometime and I think it would do a lot to help you gain some perspective.

I also get brand new players in my queues on a regular basis even though I have a couple thousand hours in the game and usually no problem escaping with decent teammates. This sounds like an internet issue.

Usually when the Server actually crashes, you dont get a penalty. And in the Endboard you see that you have 0 BPs while everyone else has their BPs. (This is the same for all players in the Trial, so nobody gains BP)

Agree. I never get a DC penalty when it’s a disconnection caused on the server side.

i bought the game too so i really dont care about the other people playing it. If im not having fun then im ready to move on to the next game. lets go back to 2016 dbd

Right because only your fun matters and not anyone else’s. The fact that this mindset seems to be so prevalent is exactly why we need a DC penalty to prevent extremely selfish players from ruining the game for everyone else who can handle losing like an adult.

  • It really doesn’t matter that the community thinks or says on social media/forums. The fact is that the player count is higher than it’s ever been. From a business perspective, that’s really all that matters. If most players were really that dissatisfied with the game we probably wouldn’t be seeing record high player count.

  • The fact that this is all downvotes and no upvotes should tell you something. You have to realize that your actions have consequences that affect other people.

  • We can complain all we want, but nothing is going to change, and the reason is this chart below. This forum is just a very, very small (but passionate) subset of the community. A vast majority of players just don’t care how many bad changes BHVR make or how much they don’t listen to feedback. The vast majority of players (which is a higher number than ever now) are still playing and still spending money on the game. From the purely business point of view (which, as a for-profit business, is really all they should care about), the game is better than ever. Someone please tell me: what incentive do they have to do anything differently?

  • For those of you who are upset and feel like BHVR aren’t listening, I’m with you. But you all need to realize that they’re not going to change their behavior (pun intended) unless you actually stop playing the game or at least stop spending money on it. That is the only feedback that they are really going to listen to.

  • I can tell you what the criteria are for post game chat harassment: you can literally say anything you want and not get punished. I’ve reported people for saying racist things, homophobic things, death threats, death wishes against me/family members. No responses from BHVR ever. It’s really sad that they don’t seem to take this stuff seriously. I was surprised to hear you say that bans are being issued more liberally because that is 100% the opposite of my experience.

  • They can do whatever they want, no matter how much the community complain, because you are all still playing the game and spending money on it. Nothing is going to change unless people actually start leaving the game.

On occasion yeah, I kinda got bored of how easy it was to win so I don't play it too often. After like fifty games of winning and only like one where I lost it's just dull you know? With survivor it's a lot more of a challenge so I play it more.

Hmm 50 wins in a row? Do you have stats that you can show?

  • @mecca said:

It really shows that the game is extremely broken when the player driving the killer knows how to play it.

BHVR balances the game so it only somewhat functions if the survivors are all good at the game and the killer player is terrible at the game. If the killer just simply knows how to play, the end result is 100% predicted. The definition of unbalanced and broken.

Ok, so then if this is true, then you should have no problem wiping the floor as killer in most of your matches. I have a feeling that you are drawing this conclusion without any personal experience to back it up. If you can share your killer stats to prove me wrong, I will happily admit that I am wrong.

  • @esarraf said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4095884#Comment_4095884

Killer is not a stressful role at all lol. Seriously survivors don't have an automatic win button like killers do. All you need to do is camp or tunnel at you get at minimum a two kill. Throw on noed and deadlock and you are gonna get three or four. Super easy.

Just curious - do you actually play killer? If so, can you share your kill rate stats? Just wondering if you are basing this on your personal experience.

  • Unfortunately you’re probably going to get a lot of opinions from people who only play one side, and those are obviously going to claim that the side they don’t play is stronger. It’s really hard to take these opinions seriously.

It really depends a lot on the skill level of the players in a given match, but in general I would say the game is killer sided at lower skills levels and shifts to survivor sided at higher skills levels, especially when it’s a SWF that can coordinate on comms which basically gives the team a ton of info perks for free. Some people will claim that the game is killer sided even at high levels and point to long wins streaks as proof. The problem with that rationale is only a handful of killer players in the world are capable of doing that. A good SWF may lose to that top killer player, but they will win a majority of their games against other high MMR killer players.

  • @Jylppy said:

No they aren't. People will anyways give up and do nothing if the game doesn't go their way and they don't wanna play so what is the difference? There is no difference. DC penalites will never encourage people to try and if you think so, you are just delusional

DC penalties don’t force people to try, but at least they keep chronic quitters from playing the game. That’s a win

  • @esarraf said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4095858#Comment_4095858

Same thing. If you are killing enough people that you are getting that 60% average you are winning most of your matches or getting a tie. Either way it shows how killer sided the game is on a fundamental level.

The game is supposed to be slightly killer sided by design. Killer is a far more stressful role as it requires you to keep track of 4 other players, while as survivor you only need to keep track of the killer and if you know someone else is being chased, you can relax while holding a button to progress the game. BHVR targets the 60% kill rate for a reason - so people actually want to play the killer role. When the average has dropped below the 60% rate in the past, there was a huge deficit of killers and super long queue times for survivors. I remember waiting 15-20 minutes for survivor matches during peak evening hours. The queues are much more reasonable now.

  • @SpookyBoiGaming said:

Ugh. If you've been here for even a little while, you've most likely have seen BHVR giving more and more favoritism towards Survivors while leaving Killers behind. No amount of promotional art or whatever can convince me that they actually don't care. I don't need to go on and on and on about how it started. You already know.

The Black Banquet, funnily enough, ripped off BHVR's mask on showing what side they really love. Killers just get a bottle of poison that gives temporary limited stamina bar. Survivors gain things that I'm surprised were fully implemented! Invincibility?! Unbreakable pallets?! This is just unacceptable! And I know that BHVR will implement invincibility and unbreakable pallets into future Survivor perks. Even without those abilities, the most recent Survivor shows the amount of favoritism BHVR has for Survivors rather than Killers. They don't even listen to Youtubers that revolve their content around the game!

They aren't listening, so I propose a deal:

Us Killer players and anyone that disagrees with the current state of the game should uninstall the game until enough people get BHVR's attention. We need to spread the word of how unfair this is to the playerbase. We won't get anywhere if we don't something about this. This is something we can do! We need to tell them how we feel! Enough is enough! Killers should be treated the same way as Survivors. Toxic Survivors wanting wins handed to them are ruining the game and we NEED to do something about this!

Share this however you want, as long as we get the point across!

I play killer about 50% of the time and I’m having fun with the game. Based on the all-time high player count and killer queue times longer than I have ever seen them, all evidence points to the fact that most other killer players are enjoying the game too. If you’re frustrated with the game, it’s probably best to take a break, but most others are probably not going to join you.

  • @esarraf said:

Yeah, killers deserve a 70% winrate instead of the measly 60% they have now in order to make amends for a totally optional event.

It’s 60% kill rate, not win rate. Those are very different things. But I do disagree with OP that the game is ridiculously survivor-sided.

  • @exDbd said:

At the end of the day survivors are the majority of the player base and most have left due to the toxic killers, the slugging, the tunneling. All of our stuff has been nerfed to crap and yet killers get buffs some nerfs but not as many as survivors. I don’t get why killers are so pressed about this event anyways. Y’all get base kit poison and we have to run to tables, get food, run to the main table, all while ignoring the main goal, which is doing the gens. You killer mains always complain about gen rushing and this gives us something to do other than that.

And also I get it killers don’t want to play the event, then why queue up for it? Oh because of queue times? I mean just like any other game if you are fed up, go play something else, touch grass, or just get better. The poison makes survivors incredibly slow. I’ve played many killer games on the event and had no issues with getting a 4k. And that’s without slugging, tunneling, or camping. Just gotta have good game sense. Love when us survivors finally get something it’s just such a huge issue. lol !

Also, a post like this violates the forums rules. Trust me I know bc I did the same thing with survivors and got a warning. So please be mindful of what you post.

”most have left due to toxic killers, the slugging, the tunneling?” Do you have any evidence for this? Also, how is the player count at an all-time high if most survivors players have left the game? I’m struggling to understand how the math works there.

  • People sure are playing the event an awful lot despite how much they are complaining about it.

  • Nothing will be done about this. BHVR won’t pay for more servers and they definitely won’t enforce ping limits in the game. They care far more about maximizing player count than you having a quality game experience.

  • @RpTheHotrod said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4095719#Comment_4095719

Clarification, the average kill rate is intended to be 60%. Some killers are way under that. Some are higher. A 60% kill rate equates to 2.49 kills a match on average (just shy of 2.5 kills which would be 62.5%).

Of course some killers are lower. Some killers are higher too. That’s how averages work. The average actually is 60% - not just “is intended to be 60%”.

  • @Lethal_premium said:

Unlike yesterday, when I was beyond frustrated and tired, I'm calmer today and actually ready to formulate my opinions.

First off I want to say I don't care about low-level players, when discussing balancing we should focus on high-level (not comp) players.

    Now into my argument.

Chasing the first survivor, even if they're bad, with exhaustion takes thirty seconds enough for the first Gen to pop if all three people work on it.

This thirty seconds can easily be extended by shift W, and pre dropping. Then you got people who play immersed which are time consuming to find.

"So drop chase" you can't keep dropping chase repeatedly, and if everyone pre drops and pre runs then it takes forever, keep in mind this takes no skill.

Generators also go by to fast, with hyper focus stake out, a gen can be done easily in under 40 seconds solo, and stealth killers are usually weaker and easier to loop so the extra Gen speed is not needed.

Hit and run is also useless because botany, God medkits, lend a hand, Boon circle of healing, and the millions of other healing perks.

    Now "toxic" strategies

Tunneling is easily countered by STB, DS, OTR, BT, Baby sitter, and DH is a powerful perk that you only get by hooking.

Slugging is also countered by UB, EXPO, No Mither, FTP, Soul guard, WGLF, MFT, Conviction.

    Camping: Reassurance, and basic teamwork.

Also Shoulder is easily the best perk in the game, even without vigil exposed is only good on M1 killers which their are only four good ones, Singularity, Houndmaster, Spirit, and Ghoul. And fourty seconds is 28 with vigil, which means it's counters the one downside for such a strong effect, and with exhaustion it's basically impossible to use the exposed if you're good.

If you have a debate I'm now in the right head space to actually debate it.

The average kill rate is 60%. That seems pretty balanced to me. What are your average kill rates for the killers you play?

  • I’ll say it once again - there’s no reason for BHVR do do anything differently. You are all still playing the game and spending money on it. Nothing is going to change unless players actually leave the game because of their supposed dissatisfaction.
