The queues to play as the Killer are really long and that's even though this event is survivor sided

Ever since the previous 2v8 mode, killer queues have been terrible, and the situation hasn't improved for this event because people don't want to play as survivors, something is going wrong on that side.

Comments

  • Imagine waiting in queues for ten minutes just to tunnel. I can't be the only whose noticed the tunneling in this event. You brought a cake, you should know people are trying to farm BP. Go to normal mode if you wanna sweat.

  • Tunneling and camping are extremely common, and getting stuck with unskilled teammates in solo queue is just miserable. I can see why people don't want to play survivor tbh.

Edit- I forgot to mention all the annoying killers in this game. Yeah, I’m looking at you, Jason (and Ghoul).

  • Survivor rn is miserable, matchmaking is ultra bad and i got with a 35hrs dwight today (i have 4.5k hours), ping hits frustrate everyone and getting new friends into the game is impossible due to tunneling

  • Event queue was 2 minutes for me and normal queue was 6 minutes for killer like half an hour ago. Haven't seen longer than 5 minute wait time on event queue as killer.

  • The queues are long because of Jason. I usually play both roles but I've barely played survivor since he came out, and I haven't touched surv at all since the first day of the event. The 1v4 queues are too long so I've been playing killer in the event during the brief points when the wait time is acceptable to me. Despite all the survivor-sided claims, I'm winning almost all my matches there.

Until Jason either gets meaningful changes or his appearances greatly reduce I probably won't be playing much survivor for the foreseeable future. Soloq is 100% off the table.

Matchmaking is by far the biggest issue in the game right now, IMO. I also get brand new players in my queues on a regular basis even though I have a couple thousand hours in the game and usually no problem escaping with decent teammates. BHVR have given us nothing but empty promises about improving the SBMM/MMR system, and I refuse to spend any $ supporting the game until they actually fix this massive problem.

The funny thing is, I’ve seen few Jasons in the event queu compared to the regular queu.

  • Its not survivor sided though.

It's very miserable playing survivor with how oppressive the game is.

Cause the rest of us are trying to get away from the Jason line.

Nothing would convince me to play soloq right now though.

Literally everyone, even the most survivor-biased players, concede that this is a very survivor-sided event. Speed boosts, free heals, free teleports, free invisibility, free invisibility, unbreakable pallets that make literal infinite loops - like, what else do you want?

You really need to try playing killer sometime and I think it would do a lot to help you gain some perspective.

I disagree, the event isn't nearly as survivor sided as its being made out to be. I haven't lost as killer in the event queue at all, 24 matches. Its mildly survivor sided at best, killers should have gotten more to interact with but that doesn't mean its very survivor sided. Speed boost, invis, or invuln survivors only get one of these. Pallets, teleports (which the killer can use as well), or action speed once again its one of these not all three.

Killers get free hit/down poison and have to do absolutely nothing to gain access to it, it recharges on a timer. I have been frustrated playing against some of the things survivors have gotten but the poison is significantly more frustrating to play against to me. Unless we are talking about a sweaty four man the killer has the advantage but that isn't any different to outside the event.

  • Because, as it turns out, having fun is not the same as winning. It doesn't matter how strong you make survivors, a buttload of killer players are never going to touch the role, a buttload of former players are never coming back, and a buttload of current players are going to have a single miserable game of being instantly camped/tunneled by a Ghoul/Jason/Nurse/Blight, or want to play the fiftieth game in a row against Jason, or a basement Trapper/Bubba/Hag, or be slugged for the 4k and have to sit on the ground for 4 minutes, or any of the dozen other completely miserable playstyles that afford no agency, and be done for the next week.

How are your results though? Because, like @FerrousFacade, I haven't lost much. I'm doing better in the mode than I do in regular. Once you learn how to play around the survivor toys, it's not that bad, and them trying to use them to swarm and body block is keeping gens from getting done and causing them to be out of position and injured when it doesn't work. It's a frustrating mode, no doubt, but you can do very well with the right killers.

  • I just got slugged at 5 gens by a content creator, why does this keep happening BHVR? Why are you letting people promote this kind of playstyle to the wider community?

If you play few killers that have good synergy with poison and have good builds then you can win a lot even against invisiable and invinciable modifiers.

I play only killers like legion, ghoul, bubba, billy, plague, jason, dracula, henry (the first) even the normal vecna (not the netflix one). These killers have great synergy with poison or their powers can work with it very well like vecnas and dracula abilities.

This doesnt change fact survivors have still more tools and more things are in their favor like even one duo or swf can on inviciable modifier spawn table boost and make some loops god loops like shack or cow tree were in 2016 or ironworks main. The main part for survivor is to use your boost to rush gens to 1 gen left where killers loose poison and have very bad effects from table compare to your role like haste 3% or 20 seconds of oblivious or lightborn compare to survivors 3% haste, elusive and endurance which are way more game changing especialy in endgame plus survivors dont loose cakes they have in their hands when tables are locked and killers cant have poison which gives them another huge advantage.

Every modifier is good for survivor like the worst the speed from cake plus bonus speed to actions from table is still good for rushing gens and healing fast, the invisiable is very time consuming for the killer especialy when table buff is spawned due to portals becoming super survivor sided and good evaders can be almost uncatcheable, last invincialbe buffer is great for good loopers that with 3 seconds of invinciability can become gods in looping plus table buffs which makes pallets super safe and survivors can rebuild them faster then in 2v8 this effect also effects killers the most I would say like some with ranged attacks can (thanks to devs flaw I bet which wasnt meant to be) bypass 3 seconds of endurance or even some powers like weskers dash but still many ranged killers are locked by unbreakable pallets.

Poison is good but survivors have way more tools and if they use them well they can get gens done fast and fool around with the killer even when its like pig against invincibility buffer. Killers only chance is to pick good killer like bubba who is working with poison very well and get as many hooks and downs as they can before survivors get to 1 gen left and killer looses poison and has worse effects from tables.

Only with certain killers that work super well with poison, if they dont like wraith or pig survivors with good buffers can still overwhelm you especialy with invincibility and unbreakable pallets with global adrenalin from tables.

Even one survivor can stack 4 cakes on 1 table and keep the effects going which totaly destroyes some killers.

I can’t say for sure because the stats page doesn’t distinguish between regular and event matches. The only success I’ve had in the event as killer is playing as Bubba which seems kind of lame given it’s basically an automatic down if you hit someone with the poison. But with any other killer it has been pretty rough. It’s “play with Bubba or Hillbilly or lose badly”.

I've barely even been using the poison. I just play normal and use thair tricks against them. And yeah, I'm playing killers that can keep up. 1v4 is also harder for some killers. This mode is just harder for different ones.

  • I think it’s because stronger doesn’t equal fun. And that goes for the whole game. Killrates and winstreaks are a great example. People can win thousands of their games but still aren't having fun and don’t enjoy the killer role. This event is strong for survivor but that doesn’t mean its fun.

That’s quite good and certainly if I had your experience I would draw the same conclusion as you. Even if I have a different experience than you, I very much appreciate that you’re at least basing your conclusions on your own personal experience. What I can’t take seriously is strong opinions about balance from people who only play one side, because they have no idea what the other side is experiencing.

I'm pretty 50/50, with slants here and there depending on how much one role is pissing me off at any given time, and spikes in survivor from all-day sessions with friends. 30+ matches of survivor happens but I can't do that much killer at once. Too stressful.

I more have trouble taking people seriously who constantly cite CCs instead of their own experience. I've also come to realize that many of the serial complainers have surprisingly low hours, and I think many have hit that difficult point where their MMR has gone up but their skill isn't aligned, so they blame the game instead of trying to improve or figure out what they need to do.

My initial reaction to the event was the same as everyone else, that it was kinda ridiculous, but it just took a few matches to realize which killers worked for me and how to play around the effects. The only thing I really don't like is the portals. I think they should be further from the gens and should take longer (and so be riskier) to use, because everyone just poofs away the moment they see me. What it has taught me is the "survivors love chase" narrative is bs. They'd cleary rather not.

This event has definitely been crazy sweaty and aggressive though, and I get the frustration there.

  • The event mechanics have made the gameplay much more competitive rather than casual as killers get easy downs with poison, and survivors get easy mid chase heals and ways to extend / escape chases, making everyone play to win much harder. And im also guessing the bully squads are out in full force with all these new abilities so lots of killers are just fed up and will just go all out in every round as some of the abilities make every random team even feel like bully squads.

I have not seen a single round where both sides farmed and tried to max out event points. Or even someone giving the hatch.

  • I enjoy the event as killer, I'm sure there are many who do. I've only played a few survivor games through pwyw purely because I'm all Jason'd out.

Yeah events are always sweaty but this one takes the cake. It's the most aggressive playing I've seen back to back. I've also seen zero efforts at friendly farming, though I did give someone hatch.

  • I've played a fair amount on both sides during this event and since 2018.

I've played survivor and I admit my looping skills have gotten rusty. SoloQ is a deplorable experience. Playing in SWFs on comms (non-comp, we're trying to have fun not making clock callouts) or off comms has not been much better. Killers are playing like it's a personal insult for survivors to earn BP with the Tortes they're burning.

If I want to see a killer in a match that plays nice or at least fair, I have to be the killer.

To those that are complaining about the queue times, these are not at all out of line with past queue times, it's just now that people see estimated times they think they're longer than they used to be. 3-5 minutes is pretty much standard for killer. At least now you can PWYW, we used to have to just twiddle our thumbs.

The event is definitely in Survivor's favor, but we just got a very strong Killer and camping/tunneling/slugging is the same as it ever was. It's why Killers are willing to put up with something that frustrates them because they still get consistent wins even when Survivors are buffed.

In 1v4 survivor is way more less powerfull you dont have dash on command, global adren, dead hard invincibility for 3 seconds and many other busted powers with all perks and addons you equiped on top.

Playing without poison then its weak opponents because good ones just eating invisiable cakes or others can totaly cook you there isnt much you can do without poison only things you can punish is invincibility with ability that damages through it or invisibility if you crack your headphones on very high so screams make you deaf but other then that there isnt much to punish in counter especialy if survivors use cakes and tables right they can stall killer for 4 gens and thats where he looses poison and has worse effects from tables and is mostly cooked.

Believing you play without poison and do good well you can but I guess you play killers like ghoul and against survivors that arent so sharp because good looper with any cake power can get away or get second chance super easy almost guarantee without killer using poison.

M1 killers dont get so cooked in 1v4 where one full table can totaly redo their work and heal everyone plus many other things.

The invincibility and invisibility are overrated. You're saying it's weak survivors but maybe it's weak killers that can't deal with it. The invincibility I can M2 them through. Chances are, if that ability is in play, they're lurking around your chases to block the hook, so just look first and get a free hit. The invisibility makes a loud tinkly sound in addition to footsteps and breathing. You can hit them through it or wait it out.

I guess you play killers like ghoul

I would never, ever play Ghoul. I will never even buy that screeching monstrosity. I posted the killers I'm using in this very thread.

It realy isnt unles your killer has reliable m2 power which can hit survivor and damage him through invincibility you are done especialy when they use it like old dh right infront of pallet or window they wouldnt made normaly.

Invisibility is totaly busted unless you crack your sounds so you hear footsteps with same intensity as screams of survivors when killer hooks them, then you can track them reliably but sounds are super buged and dependent on map and survivor like some survivors have barely any sounds of foosteps. If they go invisiable some distance before you are close for your attacks or abuse portals and use tables you are cooked and they will make you loose some much of your time plus its most annoying thing in the event.

Invisibility sounds its load so you loose their footsteps from consiming cake plus chase music will trigger mostly when they went invisiable right before you could even triger it which screws up sounds even more, even killer instinct wont help you when they are invisiable I had even one girl not being revealed by legions killer instinct when she lost her invisibility only heard heart beat but no vizual indication on her position so many bugs are connected with invisibility.

Only few killers are here viable and even some of them can get cooked by some modifiers like mayers by invinciable one with pallets if they spam table effect. Good survivors shouldnt loose here with how many good powers they have there plus even keeping strong effects like endurence and elusive for 20 seconds after their cakes are lost on 1 gen or gates and even then if they have cake in their hands they will keep it but killer looses poison he has charged which is very stupid.

M1 based killers are done here only like legion and palgue are viable due to their synergy with poison, they make survivors broken or deep wounded which cancels full heal from table global heal and makes everyone with poison one shot so they can win chases well plus like palgue has range attack which bypasses invincibility and legion can vault pallets that cant be broken.

Swf with coordination are gods here due top their ability to control tables and give themselfs global heals plus busted effects on command just like with old adren but this is another power level bs. All buusts from tables are op global heal with either faster actions which makes rushing super easy, unbreakable pallets that can be vaulted by survviors creating infinites and survivors can repair all broken pallets or reset drop ones literary opiness like scouts 2v8 power is joke compare to that and last most horendus to paly against the portals that give survivors free escape because they give them invisibility like all busted crap.

Killers poison isnt bad but compare to all these things survivors get and have their best effects in endgame when killer has for 20 seconds lightborn and oblivious which arent same things in terms of power, these give survivors huge advantage in pulling saves they wouldnt normaly be able too in normal mode or any other modifier we had.

I found dracula isnt bad with many tools to get through all bs survviors throw at you but only downside on him is not being able to use poison in wolf form which is sus while legion can use it in frenzy mode, vecna is great his abilities kinda deal with every power survivors get through cakes and with poison on top he can deal with this bs, Henry or the first can deal with them if you hit your shots and with poison which isnt so great on him due to his playstyle but still can make him even nastier then in normal mode and I had sucess with him, some say nurse I havent tried her but I gues she is like henry she ignores normal loops even more then him and doesnt need to activate hes power like henry has to start the clocks basicaly nurse doesnt gives a duck on anything.

Some claim mayers is good well I havent had much sucess with him especialy with invinciable modifier where when pallets are rebuilded and some droped when table mode is on he cant deal with them fast enough so survivors will rush you before you break all pallets. Blight with invinciable modifier is very bad like almost infinite pallets will cook him especialy when survivors can loop and do tables. Wesker isnt for me that great due to more pallets being on map but atlest he can injure with dash through invinciable power oe vault pallets that cannot be broken.

There are few killer that might do good but I would say they are more nerfed by some modifirs then these you named plus these 4 I named dracula, vecna, the first, nurse. Like huntress can deal with invincibility or springtrap but they will bet cooked with other things like global heal, sprint from cakes, invisibility they lack mobility or arent so agile with their mobility like dracula, vecna, ghoul, jason. Still they will work or slinger isnt worst if you hit most of your shots but with poison it shouldnt be hard.
