Decisive Strike should never have been a thing and should have been given the Tinkerer treatment two years ago. I can't see the devs doing anything about it though. They wouldn't create Rancor if they intended to do something about it.
-
Yes. Hopefully we won't have to wait until November.
-
Spirit Fury on its own would always be useless, but paired with Enduring it would have been meta if not for the changes to how pallet stuns work.
Haunted Ground isn't very useful. You may as well throw it on if you're using Devour Hope, but that's all it is good for.
Rancor is a crappy Bitter Murmur fused with a crappy NOED. It's not a strong perk but people who really hate Decisive Strike users and want to make sure they suffer will no doubt continue to use it. -

Solid midtier, at least. Better than Freddy, Wraith, Leatherface and Pig.
She can potentially be pretty high, like between Doctor and Huntress, but overall I would never rate her above Pig.
Are you implying that the Pig is strong?
In the hands of a master, pig is like a billy with boobs. Otherwise, she isn’t as viable from the start as other killers like nurse or Myers.
She doesn't have the lethality or the map traversal powers of Billy. To imply that she's anywhere near as strong as him is just absurd.

Currently she seems to be a mid-tier killer, around as strong as the average. However, you need to factor in that she is hard to play, and is new and not played by very many people so it is difficult to learn how to counter her. Also, she was released unfinished and they're planning to fix and buff her in the mid-chapter update. Currently she's an average, maybe slightly above average killer. After her buffs she could rise to the same level as the Clown or Huntress. She's actually above Clown and most definitely Huntress right right now and Clowns while scary at times are child's play compared to her at rank 1.
I've definitely been doing very well with her at rank 1, but I'm attributing that to the fact that almost no one plays her and she's brand new so most people haven't adapted yet.

It's not even a particularly strong perk. It gives somewhat useful information every time a generator gets popped, at the cost of also giving the obsession information. Then when the gates are powered you can one-shot and kill a single survivor, who has known since the very first generator popped that this is going to happen. Any half-decent player will strongly avoid the killer and play cautiously, some may even say cowardly, once there's only one generator left, and will let others risk opening the gates.
The only people who have deluded themselves into thinking Rancor is strong, let alone overpowered, are the survivors who use Decisive Strike every single match and are now finding that their get out of jail free card is no longer entirely free. -
Yeah, it's nearly impossible to get it unless you're running add-ons that extend the speed boost so you can actually catch up and land the hit. They need to increase the window or make the speed boost baseline.
-
God forbid killers be able to counter survivor perks with their own perks. Which is basically all that happens. Survivors run powerful perks independent of what the killer is doing, and then killers run perks to try to counter that. The meta is thus controlled by the survivors.
-
It's even better when the killer is a Clown with Enduring and he throws down a bottle before picking you up.
-
It's not a strong perk. It gives the obsession aura reading on the killer several times per match, incentivizes leaving the obsession alone allowing them to walk all over the killer, and the indications it gives the killer, while useful, aren't as good as aura reading. Just don't be anywhere near the killer, or in a bad spot, when the final generator pops and you're pretty safe. And if you're not a crappy player who relies on decisive strike, the chances of you being the target is pretty low to begin with. Even when the perk pays off big time for the killer, it's just one kill and they may have to let everyone else go to secure it because a lot of mori animations are very lengthy.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that unlike perks like NOED, Rancor tells the survivor that they are the target of Rancor, so it doesn't even have any surprise factor. You know the entire time that the killer is going to be extremely dangerous at the very end of the match and you have the entire time to prepare for that.

yes because most killers would just use it until they downed a survivor instead of breaking the palletThat consumes a ton of time and is only worth it in rare situations.

Spirit needs the "no wooshing in terror radius" change they promised and apparently won't be delivering on until October or November, and she needs some aspects of her addons to be baseline. For example, she seems to barely get any speed boost if any at all when coming out of her phase walk, which makes it almost impossible to get a Grudge score event. I find her deviousness gains to be pretty poor as a result. Just a few small buffs along with the changes they said they'd be implementing, and say they'll be implementing in a few months, and she'd be a solid killer, though not a top tier one.
She doesn't need a speed buff. The whole point of her power is that she uses it to more than make up for her speed deficiency, just as the Huntress, Hag and Nurse do. The problem is that the Spirit's power doesn't actually make up for her weaknesses.

Ah. Well at least it's not a really important bug they're ignoring for the next few months. That's pretty huge, actually. It removes all of her mindgame potential when getting looped.
-
A dev said in another thread that the Spirit is bugged. They didn't finish the changes they had for her so they just released her unfinished and will be fixing her in a month or two when the mid-chapter update comes around.
-
All they needed to do with the Spirit is do what they said they were going to do during the PTB. Instead they made all sorts of bizarre nerfs.
-
@ZombieGenesis said:
I've played against her some today, as her some today, and watched multiple streamers do the same and this is the first killer to ever be released that wasn't a slaughter machine on day 1. This is the strongest she will ever be as survivors have not yet adapted to her yet and she's still lucky to 2k or 3k in a match with highly experienced killer mains. In a week or two, once people have grinded her perks into their general pool, she'll be in the dumpster with The Clown.
The Clown is actually a good killer. Better than most. He's unpopular because of how unimaginative he is and because you may as well just play Huntress if you want to throw things.
-
NOED isn't comparable to Decisive Strike. There is no real counter to Decisive Strike, while you can counter NOED by not being found by the killer at the end of the game, or breaking the totem, or breaking all the totems beforehand, or just opening a gate in 20 seconds and getting out.
-
I'm fine with either licensed or original characters so long as they are interesting and good. That said, licensed killers tend to be pretty weak, and if they continue that trend then screw it.
-
The nerf to Lithe, Balanced Landing and Dead Hard are pretty minor. How often do you use those twice in a chase?
The real issue with this change is that it doesn't address that Sprint Burst hard-counters so many killers and makes it so survivors don't need to worry about their positioning. -
If it makes you feel any better, the only legacy prestige clothing that looks any good is the Nurse's weapon.

The devs wont make special cases for perks. If they did then, Franklin's demise, Noed, The third seal, and all other perks would have the same effect as well as they would add it to the chainsaws, traps, and so on.Franklin's did originally apply to chainsaws but they removed it. Which is funny because Franklin was killed by a chainsaw and dropped his flashlight from it.
-
Myers needs a lot of things. Like a damn hitbox.
-
You go back to level 1 and lose all your perks, add-ons, items, offerings. In exchange you get bloody versions of the default clothing (have to get to prestige 3 to get the full set) and a slightly higher chance of rarer items in the bloodweb. Emphasis on slightly.
-
Getting to rank 1 is not an accomplishment unless you're doing it as a perkless, addon-less Wraith or something, and even then it isn't particularly impressive. Your rank is nothing more than an indication of much you've played that month.
-
Yes, let's nerf a killer who is maybe the fourth best killer, maybe not even that, and doesn't even see that much play. It's a good thing BHVR is no longer listening to this crap after the Freddy fiasco.

I think personally killers are already getting buffed enough. totems are risk/reward for a reason. You think it's fair that killers can't even find their own totem because the aura is too dim and thin? It's not like Hex perks are even strong. The only truly good ones are Devour Hope and NOED and NOED you can't really protect anyway, nor do you usually have to do so.
I don't consider Ruin to be good because it's just a band-aid that fails to do anything against good survivors even when it doesn't get popped immediately. -
I don't play that many multiplayer games. What drew me into DbD was the Payday devs shilling it since it was published by the same company, Starbreeze. I started paying attention to dev diaries and whatnot, watched beta footage and was playing on launch day.

Welcome to playing a killer in the current meta.Killers have never been feared at any point in the game. If anything it's a little better now than it has been at any point in the past.
To answer your question OP, learn the Nurse.
-
This would certainly make early-game Myers more entertaining.

Survivor main. Ruin is fine honestly. Either bring a toolbox, use certain perks to do skill checks/find totems, or just get good at great skill checks. Most games Ruin is gone after the first chase, it's mostly there to give the killer a chance to start up pressure on the survivors. Others I just plow through and get my 2 gens so I can hatch at least.NOED though is IMO a clutch perk. So many bad killers use it and end up getting way more kills than they rightfully deserve. And I mean just really bad killers, ones that can't catch you even when you don't loop or never kick gens or break pallets. Those killers always have a NOED and it always makes up for their lack of skill. I get games can go fast and it can be used as an ace in the hole, but good killers make better with other perks so the only ones that use it are the bad killers. If you want something for endgame that's not a crutch pick Remember Me. It's way more effective and actually takes some skill in that you have to find and hunt down your obsession. It also rewards you greatly for going after the DS guy, so now there's value in chasing them and not leaving them until the end of the game because DS.
And to be clear, DS and NOED are both equally crutchy perks for either side. Both give you a freebie for basically being bad at the game.
Survivors have tons of crutch perks outside of Decisive Strike. Self-Care and Sprint Burst both completely change the way the game is played and Adrenaline is the survivor equivalent of NOED.
-
When the event started my Kate was at Prestige 1 Level 20 or so. Now she's Prestige 3 and so high level she has all perks that are available to me. And I'm getting dozens of levels for my Nurse as well. We need more of these events.
-
This is unlikely to ever happen for the reason you stated. It would be interesting, but as long as SWF is a thing and unsegregated they can never make a killer like this and expect it to be any stronger than the Wraith.
If they ever did make a killer like this, I'd prefer they used The Thing. -
Doctor, Freddy, Trapper, Hag and Hillbilly.
Doctor and Freddy deny stealth.
Trapper and Hag are pretty much guaranteed to camp and play defensively which isn't fun. I also prefer the danger to come from the killer and not from traps that someone has to waste all match disarming or else the killer is unstopable.
Hillbilly is just an unfun mobile camper. Even when you unhook someone on the opposite side of the map from Billy, they're still screwed. He was okay before BBQ but now he's just too much.
Pig could also get points for how most Pigs tunnel the guy with the trap on their head, but that's a fault in the people who play her and not a problem with her actual design. Most fun killers are Huntress, Nurse and Myers.

Honestly you are better off with tier 1 Devour Hope because survivors won't know until you can mori them. Only thing is it's a totem, and totems usually don't last that long. If you can get Lery's or the Game as killer they have good totem spots. Otherwise it's luck of the draw. It could last 10 minutes. It could be gone in the first 20 seconds of the game. IMO it's one of the most fun perks to use, it's just not very viable honestly. The real value of Devour Hope comes with the one-shotting. The executions are just for fun. You only need 3 unhooks which is very viable if you're playing a top-tier killer.
-
Nurse is the only killer who can make reliable use of it due to her ability to down people lightning fast while also blinking back to defend her totem. Every other killer relies on good totem placement.

Can't say how it's like to play killer since I gave up on waiting after 15 minutes of no survivors joining , but can say that killers seem to be sweatier and campier than usual, even when they get free streamers as well on top of the x2 bp weekend.
I gave up after 5 matches, maybe will try again tomorrow. The game isn't really fun like this and the x2 bp isn't worth it.Same. It really doesn't make any sense. When I play killer during this event I'm running Make Your Choice just to make it easier to hook everyone at least once. Once everyone has been on the hook I start to play normally. Nobody gets tunneled early on because I want my points.
-
Killer and survivor are both most fun at the mid ranks, around rank 10. Once you get to red ranks most killers just aren't viable against good survivors, and for that reason it's nothing but Billy and a bit of Nurse at high rank, which isn't fun for survivors.
-
I've noticed killers being massive jackasses and tunneling one guy all game and only getting one BBQ stack and still seeming satisfied. But while I've had a few toxic survivor groups most of them have been pretty decent. I'm having a much better time as killer than as survivor for once. I think it's because the survivors know the killer can ruin their BP party at any time by tunneling and camping them.
-
Bought some stuff for Feng Min and Kate, and the Clown's meme outfit. Going to get the Nurse's Blood Bag outfit but I'll get that with shards.
-
Pretty much impossible to get a game as killer right now, and you can't enjoy survivor either because the killers are tryharding extra hard right now.
-

Shrine is a rip off too.1500 shards for 200,000 bp? GTFO.
Yeah, you should get a million for that much.

I assume that you are low rank,
I started playing killer yesterday on rank 17 and I literally had to wait 30 minutes for my first game. The higher I got the faster queue times became and now that I am rank 8 I instantly find survivors. You can blame the emblem system for that, every survivor pips now because pip is not a rank reward, it is a participation reward
Pipping was even easier under the old system. The reason it is hard to get a lobby right now is because survivor mains are all playing killer during the double bloodpoint weekend. You could notice the change as soon as the event went live.
-
@Cetren said:
Just add healing a survivor to the list of actions that grants a token, and make it so you only get the unhook token after ten seconds of the survivor not going down - the same time that the emblem qualifies for a safe unhook.Sounds good to me. It's way too hard to get 4 tokens without killing your team and not contributing to objectives. But without WGLF with 4 stacks survivor BP is so awful that playing them just isn't viable when you need a character leveled up yesterday.
-
I don't think whether a character is hard to play has any bearing on whether they are overpowered. Billy is definitely too strong, or perhaps it's just that most killers are too weak.
-
I'm at rank 1 and it usually takes a while to get survivors in the lobby. I think that most of the survivor mains are playing killer now for the bonus bloodpoints.
