If you look at that history March-May were also slow last year as well. Even slower than now by a few thousand average.

I don't see reason to worry just yet. Those numbers will spike once a dlc releases then once again in the summer for 3rd birthday/new chapter/servers etc.

There was a massive content draught in that time period, the largest the game has ever had. Almost five months for a new chapter.

I get to Rank 1 with Freddy everytime. You just have to learn to play him.

This isn't an accomplishment. The ranking system is an absolute joke that only cares about how much you've played since the latest rank reset. Because of this, rank is no way to gauge skill. The rank 1 survivor you go up against could be amazing or they could be terrible.

  • His problem is a mix of the fact that he has to get super close to a survivor (unless running certain addons) then wait a year (unless running certain addons) before he can do anything, and then he just functions like a killer without a power outside of wallhacks that lose value as soon as you stop chasing them because they'll just wake up as soon as you leave them alone.

His main problem is thus that he prioritizes all the least important aspects of DbD while ignoring the only thing that really matters, which is how well the killer can catch a skilled survivor. Killers like Nurse and Spirit are so good because they circumvent the core game design that favours skilled survivors over skilled killers in a 1vs1 chase. M1 killers usually have to rely on hoping there's a weak link they can easily hammer.

  • No, you're just getting bad survivors that don't know how to break line of sight.

  • He's unplayable without the addons that increase his stalk rate. That's why I don't like him much.

  • Konami doesn't care enough about its intellectual properties to even pimp them out to anything that isn't a Pachinko machine. Never going to happen, as cool as it would be.

  • Intelligent survivors don't group up on the same generator against Freddy, especially when there is only one generator left. If you find all the survivors in one spot to put them to sleep when the final generator pops, then you're up against bad survivors.

In addition, 90% of the playerbase past the low ranks is running Adrenaline so you have to get them all to sleep in endgame, they'll just spread out to different corners and wake up when one of them pops the final generator and you won't be able to get them all asleep again. Remember Me or Blood Warden is mandatory if things get that far.

    That’s just a bad Freddy.

Freddy’s power is the BEST for the endgame. Get them all to sleep. Don’t engage in chases. Once they’re all asleep it’s easy to keep them off the gate switches and monitor when they’re heading to them. You can pick and choose who is best to chase down.

Freddy's power is only good for endgame if you're running multiple endgame perks. Even with just NOED and no other endgame perks, Freddy has one of the weakest endgames of any killer. With 20 seconds to open the gates you're going to have trouble putting people to sleep and downing them before they can escape.

  • Don't care for Jane. Not sure what I'd get for Plague, if any. Maybe one of the greenish outfits.

  • I wonder what the odds are that they've delayed it so they can work on Legion.

  • I don't think anyone is complaining about the power of Adrenaline, except for Freddy players. Killers are complaining that survivors are forcing them to run NOED or forfeit the endgame, and then survivors whine about NOED.

  • They're talking about new cosmetic items for licensed characters, not new characters.

  • Secure the unhook points and die a happy man. That's it. If a Nurse is truly skilled, they're going to be putting too much pressure on the team for anything to realistically get done. You may be able to dodge a hit or two but they'll always win in the end. Even if you escape from them in a chase, they'll just find someone else, down them in two seconds, then blink to the next generator and down the next guy. Nothing will get repaired.

Maybe there are two separate license holders. One for the originals and one for the remake. If not, then they could definitely get some new outfits.

As far as I'm aware, New Line is responsible for the entire franchise, unlike many other horror franchises where the rights are split.

The simple issue is the fact survivors perk pool is so small believe it or not even survivors are tired of running the same perks in my opinion they just need to buff survivor perks that are not used that often to shape a new meta nerfing everything is not going to fix the problem its just going to limit the meta even more.

Survivors have plenty of good perks, they just choose not to use them. Even something like Lightweight can be used to outright escape from killers or avoid being chased at all by running away as soon as you know they're coming. How often do you see Iron Will, one of the strongest perks against some of the strongest killers?

  • If you stack Self Care and Botany Knowledge you can have decent healing times. You could also run Bond, perhaps with Iron Will, so that being wounded isn't so bad and you can easily find people to heal you, or people to heal if you're running Botany Knowledge or have We'll Make It active. But of course, if you run a healing build you'll get put up against a Legion, just like you always get a Doctor or Freddy when you commit to a stealth build. Maybe that's why Adrenaline is so popular.

  • Killers tunnel because it is effective unless certain perks like Borrowed Time or the new Decisive Strike are in play, but since the killer doesn't know they're in play until they've already committed to tunneling that survivor, it rarely changes their behaviour.

Killers camp because they know the scoring and ranking system puts massive emphasis on unhooks, forcing survivors to try to unhook even when the sane thing to do is rush the generators and get out. This also synergizes well with tunneling.

The survivor's grinding perk, We're Gonna Live Forever, is built around mindlessly hookfarming your teammates. It doesn't care if the unhook is safe, and while it claims to give you a token if you take a hit for a teammate, the only times it seems to work is when you bodyblock a killer on the way to the hook, forcing him to hit you and thus usually doing more damage to your team than anything else, or just unhooking right in front of the killer and then taking a hit or two afterwards. Actually taking a hit for a survivor in a chase doesn't seem to do anything.

It's not that it's become more powerful. It's that it's become more valuable because with increased healing times, the focus becomes on rush gens, unhook and don't heal. Finish last gen = your heal + then escape.

Which you then counter with NOED. Survivors will cry about it, but it's their fault. If they ran healing perks, and Dark Sense instead of Adrenaline, they'd escape every time once they get to the endgame, even against NOED, except perhaps against Remember Me.

    @tehshadowman33 said:

Let's not forgot it literally carves out a big "######### you" to the walking meme, Sharphand Joe.

Yeah, Adrenaline is the reason that Freddy needs Remember Me in order to have any endgame potential. NOED alone is almost worthless on him.

Not only that, but Quentin doesn’t have a lot of variation in the movie when it comes to fashion. The same goes for Freddy (and Bill too). They literally have everything they ever wear in the game already.

All of the other licensed characters have room for more cosmetics though.

Freddy cosmetics could work if the rights holders are willing to plumb the Englund movies. It's not like the version of Freddy in the game is faithful to the remake anyway, even the sweater colour is wrong.

  • Adrenaline was always a meta perk. It's just become more powerful now that healing takes a long time if you don't run a healing build, which is out of the question because it doesn't extend chases and thus allow for more teabagging.

So long as survivors run Adrenaline, you should run NOED. It is the only real counter.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

@The_Manlet as stated, this is actually a dumb thing for survivors to do, and can in fact be exploited by running Overcharge.

Have had survivors stupidly regress near completed gens to their fully regressed state in seconds because they refuse to run from the gen when I use Overcharge with Freddy. It forces them to respect SC and actually try and succeed to Overcharge SC if they’re still asleep.

Overcharge wouldn't factor into this scenario because you can't kick a generator while someone is working on it.

  • @The_Crusader said:

NOED nerf or info on dull totems for solo survivors.

Just as DS ruined the game as killer, this perk ruins the game as solo survivor.

You could always bring Small Game and run around the map looking for totems. I would like to see a counter of some sorts that tells you how many dull totems are still standing, however. They'd probably have to delay this information, however, or it would give away perks like Devour Hope.

  • Freddy can stroll up to 3 people working on the same generator, try putting them to sleep, and have each and every one of them get a skill-check before the dream transition ends. Then he can put them all to sleep again, and watch it happen again. If the RNG really hates him this can happen even with add-ons that reduce the chances of a skill-check.

They absolutely need to remove wakeups during dream transition, it's basically self-parody.

  • It's highly unlikely that any licensed survivor is going to get any love. Maybe Grandma Laurie could be an option, but that's about it. Myers, Freddy and Leatherface are the likely recipients. I don't think Pig has many iconic looks.

  • Biggest mistake they've made in a while since Legion, but I'm too happy about Decisive Strike being gone to really care.

would've been awful if combined with legion

Anything is awful on Legion. Trying to balance the game around Legion is a fool's errand.

Exactly, that's why I think this is an unnecessary "nerf". If people would give up on the chase perks and used healing perks (something I personally do) this wouldnt be a problem.

That would compromise their "rush the gens and heal with Adrenaline" meta strategy. Need muh fast gen repairs while injured.

The combo of Thanatophobia and Sloppy Butcher on PTB is absurdly powerful. You all know full well it had no business being implemented. No one should have even expected to go through, come on guys.

Run healing perks instead of 4 chase perks and it's like it doesn't even exist.

  • I wouldn't say Legion is unhealthy for the game because it's a single killer who will decline in popularity as people realize they aren't that strong and as more, stronger killers release. It's not like a nasty perk which will be seen in every other match. As an example, the Plague is much stronger than Legion and seems to be just as easy to play.

  • I just want more options that cover up the tattoos. It's why I went back to Feng Min.

  • Freddy is finally the best killer. The animation is pretty funny with STBFL at full power as well.

  • Anyone remember when you could stack different input methods for turning? You'd have Billy players using both the mouse and the q and e keys to get double the steering. Some madmen would somehow manage to manipulate a controller's stick at the same time for three input methods. You could circle the entire map indefinitely. Fun times.

  • In terms of balance it is in the best state it has ever been, especially with the Decisive Strike change coming. But in terms of technical state it's quite poor. Freezes and infinite loading screens, people not making it into a match...

  • @ClogWench said:

I'm so stoked for new Decisive Strike honestly.

It's such a gamechanger that I don't even care about the new characters, perks, or maps. I just want the obsession to no longer be invincible, and to be able to drag people to whichever hook I choose within range.

  • Same thing happened with Freddy. He was designed to be unable to camp, but all they really did was make it so survivors could confidently unhook in front of him, allowing him to put the unhooked survivor to sleep while ignoring the rescuer and denying any heroics on their part.

  • Feng Min and Clown. I like Clown's because there's no tragic backstory, just a dime a dozen imperfect upbringing. He's evil because he's evil.

  • The Freddy buff. I'd mention Decisive Strike's rework but it's finally happening.

  • Anyone else here not even care about the new killer, survivor, map and perks, and only hyped for the perk changes?

  • The devs want the game to be grindy. It keeps people playing. We aren't yet at the point where the grind is so awful that it forces them to eliminate perk levels altogether. Instead, we're at the point where they're making perks viable at level 1, so you can use them right away but you still have to grind through mountains of level 2s and 3s before it will give you the perks you want.

  • @HazeHound said:

Why even slug when ds will be unusable after the patch with this perk kicks in?

And why distressing? Infectious, knock out, monitor and abuse with nurses calling or whispers would do way better at slugging all 4.

Even if they scream 40m away from you it gives you nothing really if they decide to play stealthy, while screaming withing small terror radius gives you chance to get them quickly, not memtioning seeing heals outside it.

Only time i can approve of distressing will be on Spirit or Dogtor.

Slugging isn't done just to avoid decisive strike. Slugging can, done properly, create more pressure by allowing the killer to down survivors and then not have to waste time hooking them, locked into animations for several seconds at the beginning and end of the process. I'm not fond of trying to slug all 4 before hooking them, but it's often a good idea to slug one, down a second, and then hook only one of them and try to slug anyone who goes for the save.

  • Hag is the strongest of the killers listed, but she's not very popular and there's a good chance you won't enjoy her. She does give you some great perks however. She's also probably the hardest of these three killers to play.

Clown is relatively easy to play, decently strong, not that popular though. He has one really good perk, Bamboozle.

Legion is trash unless you moonwalk everywhere, not fun to play against and their only good perk is Discordance, which, granted, is quite good.

I'd go for either Hag or Clown depending on your preference and how important teachable perks are to you. Oh, and as the above Freddy stated, you could just wait for Plague, who seems strong, fun and has interesting perks. Also, one of Hag's perks is in the Shrine right now.

  • It's obvious that they prioritize the more popular characters, especially free survivors. The market is bigger.

  • This mindless altruism occurs even in matches with SWF, because if survivors want to gain any bloodpoints they pretty much need to unhook people. Their farming perk is even built around it.

  • Information is the most important thing in DbD. The game was built around a lack of it, hence all the perks that provide information. The SWF aren't smarter, they just have the complete picture. They know exactly where everything and everyone is at all times and know which perks they are running.

    To a few people who talked about Pennywise ;

Why would they add a unoriginal clown that will cost them loads of money with license and stuff when they have their own clown? :?

They already did that with Leatherface.

  • Every game is a good game when there's no decisive strike, win or lose. That has been my experience for some time now.

  • You drag the survivor to a hook that is out in the open (much easier soon with the changes to Decisive Strike) and then wait outside of MYC range. Run towards the hook as soon as the unhook happens. If you're using power range addons you can put them to sleep long before you reach them. Use your power to scan around and look for hiding survivors.

I feel like i am the small percentage of Tapps that are really smart....on some days.

All Tapps are a small percentage.

  • Get to 1 million BP and then just dump 200k BP at a time. Never go below around 800k. This ensures that if the killer does drop out of nowhere, it's no big deal.

  • They definitely need to create more of an incentive to cleanse dull totems. I think they should give the same rewards as hex totems, both in bloodpoints and emblem scoring. You should never be in a situation where you think that cleansing a totem isn't worth it.
