    Lagswitching isn't a bannable offense

It is if it was a real laggswitxcher and not just laggspikes

You cannot prove it, only chance is an automatic ban by EAC.

EAC doesnt detect laggswitching, the devs have to bann manually for that

ridiculous. how can they even name it an anti-cheat.... "easy", yes maybe the implementation work for the devs

  • Part of it is the dev's fault too. Not only framerate
You absolutely need to disable VSYNC for the delay to be 1/2 of that with VSYNC enabled. A no-brainer for far easier skillchecks

And what if someone uses 3rd party software that does not even touch any game files/memory/integrity but still provides you a massive competitive advantage? Is it bannable? @powerbats

Look at MLGA for example. Devs told us that it is considered bannable even though it doesnt do anything with the gamefiles.

wrong. They just had something about MLGA because it allowed you to put other players on a "blacklist" and instantly disconnect when you encounter this player. They asked the MLGA dev to remove that feature but he said no, so they had no choice.

There are other "3rd party software" that give you an advantage (like crosshair overlay for Huntress, makros, auto great skillcheck, etc.) that do not read/write/modify any game files/memory

  • @powerbats said:
Good grief just stop with that crap, the devs have explicitly stated on numerous occasions they won't ban for Discord or voice comms usage and Steam has voice also.

3rd party software is one that modifies the actual game files such as speed hacks etc so killer mains stop lying about it.

I don't think you can generalize the use of 3rd pary software the way you did. That's why we need an explicit whitelist, and as long as Discord, etc. do not appear on this list, it is "use at your own risk" like the DBD support said, period.

  • And what if someone uses 3rd party software that does not even touch any game files/memory/integrity but still provides you a massive competitive advantage? Is it bannable? @powerbats

  • Yes, you can see the sparkles, I noticed in the first 5 minutes playing against her xD They are even more visible when turning up graphics. Also I find it kinda ridiculous that her audio during phase-walk is directional, makes it really easy as survivor to outplay her, especially at pallets. Kinda removes a big chunk of her mindgames ....

We have a team of Associate Community Managers in charge of reviewing the reports.

They can see a lot of in-game information when you fill in the in-game report.

Since there is not automated bans, except the ones delivered by EAC, the rest is investigated.

So, basically when I report for violating Dead by Daylight's code of conduct such as holding the game as hostage. Does the game gets saved? Like will the ACM will have a recorded replica of the game to see what exactly was going on? I don't how you would bust these types of players if it only saves the end game chat (from what I heard), especially players on other platforms.

I don't think they have an exact record (or replay) of the entire match. More likely, there are various statistics which can help the ACM to verify the report, like:

    • exact time of hooks
    • time between hooks
    • frequency of successful attacks
    • heartbeat time a survivor stays in the terror radius
    • chat log
    • game duration
    • hits per survivor
    • teabag count ;)
    • average range to the killer
    • min, avg and max movement speed of the players
    • BP per minute
    • average ping, packet loss, lag spikes
    • movement of players, are they moving (for situations like holding the game hostage)
    • etc.

that's what I would think, and I would implement, but nothing official

Either you mute your sound which puts you at a real disadvantage or you DC.
Sadly the devs have designed this game without thinking how toxic people can exploit their mechanics.

I wouldnt use TOTH anyway because SWF can easily counter it and you have 2 dead perks then

Yes TOTH should be a normal perk not a hex totem. You don't even know which totem is more important for you.

Yeah it really should be a normal Perk, 100% agree. Also maybe increase the bloodpoints gain (not everyone uses / has BBQ&C). Thrill of the Hunt is the only solution to making totems anything near viable for me. Because when you don't defend them, they are gone in less than 30 seconds most of the time sadly :(

  • I also don't understand, why the devs don't rate limit or make it so you can only tap the totem every 3 seconds or so. @Peanits any information on that?
It is indeed VERY annoying, I have to admit, as I use this perk too. And the constant spam really hinders the gameplay as tracking survivors by sounds is not possible with the loud explosions going all over the place.
I also had a couple of matches where they were constantly spamming BOTH totems. Now when you don't lower your sounds significantly, you will definitely get deaf >_<

Originally to prevent mass cheating. Nowadays it just prevents you from saving up a ridiculous amount of bloodpoints and skipping an entire prestige, or to instantly P3-50 any new character that's released.

and why is that a bad thing if I may ask? Say, I bought a character. Why wouldn't I be allowed to invest 4 million bloodpoints at once to get the max potential out of my purchase? I don't see any logical reason here, so please enlighten me :)

This change was made waaaaay before I joined the team (I was just a mod at the time), so I'm just spitballing here. If you could save up massive amounts of points and instantly P3-50 a new chapter, that would take a lot of the fun out of it. I know it's cool to knock the grind, but at the same time, that grind gives a lot of people goals to work towards and a reason to keep coming back. I'm guilty of this in most games I play. I can be having fun, but once I reach the max level and have nothing left to do, it just starts to feel a little empty, like nothing you do matters.

So to get back to the original question, if someone were able to save up a ton of bloodpoints and instantly finish a chapter, it could feel very underwhelming. Then they're left waiting for another 3-4 months waiting for new content because they just blew through the last one. Pacing, I guess.

Also gotta' keep in mind that it doesn't change how fast you accumulate BP. You're still getting them at the same rate. The only difference is that you can't skip through progressing something, you can only go part way.

Right... Because it would take the fun out of the chapter... So a chapter ends when someone p3 a char...
BTW. is there a limit on Auric Cells? I mean, by the same logic, it would take the fun out of a chapter if i can unlock all skins instantly...

There is absolute no logic reason for a bloodpoint limit right now. Please let players decide what to do with their bloodpoints.

Exactly. Following this logic, Auric cells should have a limit too. But they have not.

  • Also, ruin on high rank = wasted perk slot. I am not the best survivor, I have to say but even I can hit the great skillcheck 75% of the time I would say. Also ruin probably never survives more than a minute anyway. I rather just equip devour hope or any other non-hex perk

  • 1) If you don't like the new DLC, don't buy it. I have not bought a single DLC and have no plans for doing so in the future. It's ok to have a different opinion, just don't encourage others to not buy something because you don't see any value in doing so.
    2) What do you not understand when the Dev says they already tried it and it was too OP? You think you know better, when you didn't even do the same?
    3) The Spirit is mid to high-tier IF PLAYED RIGHT. This is the opinion of two very popular DBD YouTubers and I think so too. Her power pretty much is a mind-game and getting a hit depends on your skill in mindgames. The Spirit has a much higher skill cap than nurse in my opinion, that's why she will be hard to play in the first few weeks. So I agree with Janick on that after 2 hours it was nonsense from you to already have your opinion set.
    4) Keep in mind it is PTB and her variables are still subject to change. As is EVERYTHING new in the PTB.

  • Yes, especially like the cosmetics for the spirit ;) /sarcasm end/

  • She is great in my opinion. I especially like the passive phasing ability, apart from her main power (which is also fun to play with). Adding the Addon which increases the frequency of passive phasing makes her really spooky to play against imo.
Also, that sword animation, oh god I like it!!!
Combine that with her ridiculous lunge range (when coming out of her main power), you can even cover the hole in Badham preschool or many spots on Haddonfield or mothers dwelling with the right timing.

  • @Master What do you mean by "shards"?
On lower player levels, you get even less shards than on higher levels!
    For example, lvl 4-6 you get 0.0708 Shards/XP and lvl 25 - 43 you get 0.0712 Shards/XP.
From lvl 50 - 100 you get 0.0714 Shards / XP, which is slightly higher. The other levels, you do get INsignificantly higher Shards/XP, so I don't see devotion as a reward at all.
    Or did I miss something?

  • Yeah, just increasing the numbers is a very unique idea... ;)

There are indie studios way smaller than BHVR who deal with this problems in a few hours.
That something like this REGULARLY happens during events is just a joke.

Do you have any idea the sheer number of things that can cause any one issue? Sometimes an issue is easy to solve, sometimes it's not.

That's why you always have a backup or recovery plan. As far as I know, they use AWS and there are VERY easy tools to set up a robust, fault-tolerant and self-recovering infrastructure, even I can do (did) it! So no offence but this should not happen, and the studio is not THAT small....

Definitely, the lack of backups is an issue. However, nobody's complaining about that, as far as I know, they're just complaining that the issue wasn't fixed in whatever arbitrary time frame they imagine the issue should've been fixed by.

I agree, the issue is fixed when it is fixed, nothing we can do about. But the duration is definitely (too) long

  • PS4 got an update?

  • I too have the chat closed, out of sight = out of mind :)

  • Simple: servers down

  • Screenshots they not even look at, is like 0 evidence.
Official answer from a Mod: You have to upload video proof to YouTube and paste the link to the video into the in-game after-match report form. That's the ONLY way, sadly.

no matter how bad i want to play "fair", swf makes it impossible.  the person i spoke to was a rank 7.  i have the video but it wasn't that interesting.  i tunneled the weakest link and then camped while they freaked out making all kinds of noise.  i safety pipped.  whatever.  i had literally just taken bamboozle off the clown and put on unnerving presence.  the rank 7 literally went from one circle opportunity to the next.  i can't imagine consistently playing these types.  i would have never played this long.  playing "fair" only earned me the teabag show and the necessity of watching it or they wouldn't leave.  is this not an issue any more or are the lunatics truly running the asylum?

You are a killer, would a serial killer IRL be fair with his victims? Doubt that.....
Play as unfair as you want to be, survivors dont care about your fun, so you dont need to care about theirs either

Incredibly easy to wake up, even in running by the gen in a chase. Pretty fun for us survivors, but he didn't get a single kill :/

  • Could also be that you are running Franklin's Demise and they do not want their items to lose charge.

  • That rubberbanding tho

  • @Lowbei said:

    pc has no fps issues.

i too expect bad framerate if im playing mario on my toaster

This comment is just ignorant and does add nothing productive to this discussion. What are you trying to start the console vs PC war all over again? Typical troll imo.
To the actual topic this thread is about: Yes, there are real FPS issues, even on PC. I have GTX 1050 and get really bad frame drops especially on Shelter Woods map since the 2.0.0 update. Before it ran at a solid 60 FPS. The devs are aware of it and trying to identify the problem. But who knows if they can fix it again soon.

  • Could we please get an official answer to this question? Thanks.

  • How can there be connection problems when there are no servers? Only P2P?

  • But the shrine was already there since 1.2.0 (!), why should they remove it? Console should be able to buy perks in the meantime (while they wait for the update), and PC should also just keep the shine going. This has nothing to do with "treat everyone equally", because the shrine is already there. What the hell? Or do you think the shirine will offer the new perks day one?
According to this logic, you would also have to disable bloodweb, leveling and the whole game on PC until the console 'catches up'. Because it's "unfair" to consoles that PC plays with newest patch and balance changes while they have to wait? ...

  • @swenpai said:

    @SPaefgen said:
I bought all perks in the shrine already😂

I just really want BBQ & Chilli :)

You know that BBQ & Chilli is the one perk that was only available twice last year in quick succession and then no more in the shrine, while other perks were 3-4 times available. I think this is a bug or intentional by the devs because it's the only reason to buy leatherface DLC really ...

    in Shrine Comment by Snapshot
  • Yes, this undoubtadly is an issue.
And people saying "i dont use ruin and i usually get 4 kills" are imo ignorant to the biggest balance issue this game has. Either they play against low-ranks or are rambo himself.
Time is clearly not in the killer's favour and the whole community complains about it. When playing against a decent Survive with friends group (2-3 people swf are enough), there is not much even a very good killer can do (really the only one surivors have to fear is nurse, and she is the hardest killer to play). Items and add-ons further shift the balance towards the survivors.
Gens need to get a repair-time increase of AT LEAST 15-20 seconds at higher ranks (>=5). There should not be anything like a "safe pallet" in the game. Pallets should be drop-and-forget. Most killers should not be dependent on ultra-rare or rare addons to somewhat viable to play (huntress, hillbilly, leatherface, doc, wraith, freddy, pig, trapper, clown, hag,... literally everyone except nurse. Totem placement needs a complete rework (spawning on top of a hill? spawning completely in the open? making fire-crackling noise like a big campfire?)

  • Yup, I also think reporting is useless, until they come up with a new out-of-game system

  • @MandyTalk schrieb:

    @MandyTalk
Why is copy & paste not supported? I guess because the in-game report form was never meant for such an awkward reporting process.
Why is there no convenient sub-forum (read only for devs) to report players?
And finally why does this have to be such a hassle for your loyal players trying to help with the current ever-growing cheating situation on PC?
I'm looking forward to you answering these questions (not only for me, but the whole community)
    Snapshot

  • @Zenshadows said:
@Snapshot Ok so no new forms are available....has there been any official communication from the company on how to alert them of cheating?

Only thing I know from a Mod is you have to paste the YouTube URL into the in-game form and the devs will take care of it (eventually ;) )

  • @Mringasa said:
Maybe if people keep linking videos here the Developers will give us a report form to properly report suspected cheaters. By removing that, and requiring some ridiculous steps to actually report someone, they are encouraging cheaters. I have never played an online game that did not have a legitimate report form with a place to upload videos. That is completely irresponsible, and the devs should be ashamed for making us jump through hoops to keep their game fair for everyone.

What if you cannot tab out of the game because it crashes on you when you do? Then you are basically screwed because you cannot help to stop the cheating. Right now there is a massive influx of cheaters, legitimate ones, and there is no report form to help stop them. I love this game, but I stopped playing Survivor because I'm not going to chance running into another speedhacker and ruin my match. If they don't give us the tools to report things like this, then it's time something else got done.

Finally someone comletely understanding the issues I am trying to get across to others which don't want that people get reported here. Thank you.
