  • Well first let's start with the fact that we also were supposed to get the map with him.

    What's your source for that?

    Why though?

I very much enjoyed the griddy esthetics and found it very fitting to the games overall atmosphere.

The bright coldwind feels like a weekend trip to your grandparents. Tbf, that can be horror for some I guess.

    1. Because daylight can exist in horror while still being gritty and like Shroompy mentioned in their reply above, Daytime Coldwind very much gives off the same vibes TCM had in the original movie, something i much more prefer over the yellow night sky old Coldwind had, however i would generally prefer to have both night and daytime maps to exist in dbd rather than just having either a night or daytime map varient only, as having both would give better variety. (Although a night time varient of Coldwind in which the sky is pitch dark instead of yellow would be preferable imo.)
    2. As i mentioned in my initial comment, i hate the old coldwind's yellow filter with a passion, more so than what i do with all of the other color filters old dbd had and i'm incredibly glad they're all gone. I found Coldwind's especially ugly and generally unpleasant to look at whenever i played on it back in the days.
    3. It's just my contrarian opinion in a long list of other hot takes i have about this game.

The bright coldwind feels like a weekend trip to your grandparents. Tbf, that can be horror for some I guess.

Which is exactly why i usually take issue with sentiments such as this, because it's in the same vein as whenever people claim ''Horror can't take place during daylight'', which is objectively incorrect.

  • Revert everything, especially the removal of manual scamper.

  • I hope they never revert Coldwind back to that god awful night time variant old dbd had, especially with its crappy yellow piss filter.

  • SCP in general is legally impossible and Creepypastas apart from Slenderman is bottom of the barrel levels of licenses one could pick from.

Sweeney Todd and Bloody Mary despite both being public domain, would be the better choices out of this entire poll's options.

I am beyond myself with gratitude. 💐💐💐

Sincerely, I love horror. I love this game. And I love this community. I’ve always found a home in the horror genre- I’m sure many of us can relate. For one reason or another we are all here enjoying this game together.

I’m a huge fan of being the change you want to see. The above people have demonstrated a willingness to be that change while remaining their authentic selves. I see Dbd reflected in every single person listed and on this forum. These people will give you the best that they have to offer. Why not match that passion and be the change you want the dbd community to become? Why not? It can happen. They can help you get there.

I wanted to thank @For_The_People for being the first person from the forums that I’ve ever played Dbd with. He is a very sweet person who will give you his time of day in earnest if you need him to. He’s one of the prime examples of politeness in this community. Thank you for being a positive force in the community. 😊😊😊

Lastly I need to thank @solarjin1 . What can I say? When you meet a friend that gets you, you both just know it. Her courage to be funny and humorous is so infectious. She told me that the small pallet in rpd was the most op pallet. I was so naive of game knowledge that I believed her! LMAO! After that I realized that it was anything goes when it came to humor with her. I’m at my best when I can be silly. Solarjin1 is that friend who brings out the best in me. Thank you Solarjin1 for all the laughs and for the laughs to come 😂 I’m going to be collecting🤣🤣🤣

None of this would be possible if we didn’t have a phenomenal community team here to support us discussing this twisted hobby we all have. Thank you again to everyone at Bhvr for putting your hearts and souls (ha!) into everything that is Dbd.

    Mainly on social media

Large majority of interactions I have in game are fairly positive

In-game is fine for me too, it's outside the game in general (or at least for the most part) that grinds my gears and is the reason i don't interact nearly as much as i used to these days on the forum or on other sites where the community can be found, because i find too many people that's part of it to be too insufferable to be around or engage with. (applies to some of the people in this very thread too.)

In fact, playing the game is easily a way more enjoyable experience than interacting with the community, because unlike playing the game, interacting with the community does nothing but bring down my mood 50% of the time and it just gets draining.

  • I prefer the current ones over the happy ones, since the current snowmen actually look like it's made out of snow, compared to the happy snowmen that don't.

Unknown teaser was so great that I still rewatch it from time to time. I was SOOOOO hyped about it. But yeah, whole chapter feels like missed opportunity.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XaMPWzRzwqg&ab_channel=PerfectionUnleashed

That's kind of why i'm calling it overrated, you got an analog horror based killer who's carried by their aesthetic and who's power doesn't even reflect the analog horror part & a Survivor with no depth or redeeming qualities outside of being popular only because they're a conventionally attractive goth girl.

The marketing is the thing most people primarily focuses and praises the chapter for despite it being completely irrelevant to the actual chapter itself after release. If people cares more about the initial marketing of a chapter than the actual content we end up with, it just tells me that people don't really care nearly as much about the chapter itself, but moreso about the initial mystery that surrounded it.

It's possible for something to do too good of a job than what it needs to and i believe the ATW's marketing did just that, to the point where it feels like it's overshadowing the actual chapter itself and it's content.

  • The All Things Wicked chapter is overrated in general.

  • The Legion treatment wouldn't work here because both of their powers and overall body sizes + heights differ too greatly from one another, something not even legendary skins could fix.

Also i simply just don't believe Big Daddies and Splicers are good picks as their own killers regardless of the former being the most recognizable character of the IP.

  • If BioShock ever gets it's own chapter, i hope the killer is a Big Sister and not a Big Daddy.

  • Why anyone would waste their time with a pointless popularity contest in the first place is beyond me.

  • The Xenomorph is able to very slowly crawl under pallets while in Crawler Mode, but not break them.

If Chucky can't have manual scamper, then ain't no way xeno can have it either.

  • Lightborn exist for a reason.

  • It's pretty obvious that HM will be included in the upcoming hotfixes, as all post-chapter hotfixes always focuses on newly released content.

Both hotfixes being split in a 1-2 weeks release window each, one for after a major update itself and another to followup after the first hotfix.

It reminded me of pyramid head ptb chase music

His old theme was much better and liked by everyone

Now it's been downgraded into sounding like a metal chase theme that doesn't fit the theme of silent hill in my opinion

Then you clearly haven't listened to Silent Hill 2's soundtrack because it heavily utilizes metal noises and industrial tools for it's score, something that PH's current chase track captures incredibly well.

The PTB chase track on the other hand is more of a Silent Hill 1 vibe than it is Silent Hill 2.

While PTB was more melodic to listen to, it didn't fit Pyramid Head nor the vibe of Silent Hill 2's soundtrack.

Yeah I saw the portrait and was hella confused. Like besides the dog model did it even change anything? Dracula at least changed the voice, look, mori, etc. This just gives you a poodle and a cleaner looking outfit

Dog model and the menu animation are the only things that the new cosmetic changes.

Even just ignoring the fact that it doesn't have a new mori like Visceral cosmetics are supposed to, it doesn't make sense that they would make it a Visceral legendary when Visceral Ultra Rare is already a thing that exist with other cosmetics such as the Were-Elk.

  • Prefer the live version more ngl, especially layer 1.

  • @ReverseVelocity said:

It kind of comes off as a cashgrab excuse to up the price. Pretty sure Viscerals were always meant to be extra moris only.

It doesn't even match the criteria for Legendary since it isn't licensed. It should be just a regular Ultra Rare. That's just nitpicking though since the prices are the same.

It's not even the increased price tag that bugs me, it's the general inconsistency with it.

In fact, it's something i've noticed with ultra rare cosmetics as well, and how certain cosmetics that are labeled as such doesn't have enough additional details to them that feels like they justify being one compared to other cosmetics that are also ultra rare.

  • I don't really mind the change, in fact i actually prefer the live version more.

  • They're most likely saving the dev update for the upcoming livestream.

  • Frankly, i'm glad there was no buildup for this new chapter, in fact i wish we didn't have the marketing All Things Wicked had.

They're never going to add licensed Killers nor will they ever add any sort of generator control for Killer, and thus I'm not coming back to it. Ever.

We don't know yet if they're going to or not, all we know is that they're not against adding them, as Cote have told us during an interview that adding licensed killers to 2v8 is a conversation bhvr needs to have with each license holder and each of them have the right to refuse should they want to.

Logically speaking however, it's a safe bet to make that certain licensed killers such as ghostface will most likely make it into 2v8.

Anna is the only killer who has a first name but no Surname given.

    Adiris, Boy and Joey exist.

  • Nope, can't say i share that sentiment, i welcome more voicelines even without the ability to turn it off.

  • Honestly, i wouldn't mind if it got extended by an extra week, been having more fun playing 2v8 as both Survivor and Killer compared to 1v4.

Compare Unknown 's teasers to Houndmaster's, and you kinda get what I mean

No, i don't get what you mean, what does any of that have to do with Frank Stone?

BHVR had nothing to do with the development of TCOFS or it's story, that was all Supermassive. All BHVR did was giving them all the lore and elements they had created up until that point and just let them work without interferring.

So i don't know why you're bringing up the layoffs at bhvr when they quite literally have nothing to do with anything related to TCOFS, especially when the story itself or any of the characters was never changed at any point.

  • @Sngfun said:

Does anyone remember the tweet where some random guy was saying that they couldnt wait for Frank stone to be a legendario for trapper, so then the oficial account replied with "Rest assured, Frank Is quite the unique individual"

Then they fired all the guys in charge of the cool Lore so here we are with that trace to theorize on lmao

I'm not sure what you're referring to with the ''they fired all the guys in charge of the cool Lore'' bit, but they're not wrong in calling him a unique individual as Frank's final form in the game is vastly different from Trapper both in terms of appearance and power.

  • While i do think this iteration is more enjoyable to play than the last one, i think it's better that alternative game modes and modifiers in general became more of a rotational thing rather than staying permanent.

  • PTB Xeno, PTB Singularity and the live version of Ghostface's original chase music are the only ones i wouldn't mind having back, the rest i'm perfectly happy with not having in the game anymore, especially PTB Pyramid Head.

  • Hard pass, always hated old coldwind for it's yellow piss filter.

Skull Merchant would have been a disappointing character whether there were teasers or not. All they had to show off for this chapter was the dog and people would have eaten it up, no issue.

Perhaps with Skull Merchant specifically, but that doesn't change the fact that teasers sets expectations and more often than not, the final products doesn't live up what people hope for, even just teasing a dog would lead to people being disappointed in some way or form by the chapter itself.

I've seen it far too many times at this point with the community when it comes to something that builds hype because people cannot manage their expectations. Be it chapters, mid chapters or upcoming gameplay changes, hell even the latest ptb killer changes have left some people disappointed because some expected/hoped for more changes to the killers or changes that were more drastic than what they ended up being.

Even with there being no teasers at all, it also just leads to disappointment as demonstrated with this thread.

So again, i'm perfectly fine with there being no teasers for this chapter whatsoever.

  • @TotemsCleanser said:

I find the lack of teasers whatsoever a bit underwhelming but I feel that All Things Wicked was a special case that should not be taken as the "standard" if that makes sense. It had by far the best teasers, yes. However, many chapters before had teasers too, and they weren't as cool as All Things Wicked's. But they had teasers nonetheless.

In summary, I think that folks have set their expectations far too high and expect every original chapter to have teasers as cool as All Things Wicked had. Which is a bit too much. But this time we didn't get anything AT ALL and that is disappointing.

I'd say the marketing team for All Things Wicked did their job too well, as it caused expectations to get too high, to the point where what we ended up with could never have lived up to the hype people had.

I still see people to this day being disappointed that The Unknown doesn't have a crawling ability like it's chapter's teasers had lead people to believe.

  • I'm perfectly fine with there being no teasers for this chapter.

More often than not, it just leads to people being disappointed and judging by some people's reaction to the latest killer, this would have been no different from the disappointment people had with Skull Merchant and how many believed from the teaser for the Tools of Torment chapter that she was going to be a cyborg killer.

  • Way too subjective of a question to have a definitive answer, for me personally it's movement speed killers like Blight & Wesker that are the worst.

  • ngl, i more or less disagree with half of these placements.

Yes, we need snek. We also need Medusa. We can have Medusa turn into snek for fast travel like Daddy Succ turn into puppi.

Medusa is most likely only gonna be a skin at best.

  • Not against a Snake killer, but how will the snake attack other survivors if it's carrying one in it's mouth?

he still has undetectable. his stealth aspects remain unchanged. what does manual scamper have to do with stealth? Manual scamper was chase tool and by being chase tool, it is opposite of stealth.

ignoring a pallet at tiles like Jungle Gym or Shack with manual scamper would not help Chucky catch up any faster unless the Survivor makes a mistake. Chucky is still gonna be forced to break the pallets in the end.

the survivor isn't making a mistake. the killer is brute forcing loop. the safer loop, the better. for example with shack, a chucky that runs bamboozle can block the window, vault pallet and just follow survivor hold-W key until they're in range. eventually they get the m1 hit.

Which again, can be solved by adjusting the stats of Hidey-Ho mode, either through it's duration of the speed of which Chucky moves during Hidey-Ho mode.

Adjusting duration of hide-oh makes his stealth worse and it narrows window to use S&D. Changes that he does not need. Decrease speed makes his movement around the map worse and again makes his stealth worse. Increasing time to scamper manual makes tool ineffective in all instances and like i said, the scamper's time for S&D is same as manual scamper time. BVHR doesn't want to deal with these over-lapping balances within killer. that is why manual scamper is gone but in removing manual scamper, they left a hole in Chucky's kit which might get resolved in the not so distant PTB future.

Maybe they also adjust wesker as he has some of same issues where pallet vault is not very useful and most player's that put all their time into wesker optimize his tech to make his chase power more useful around pallets.

he still has undetectable. his stealth aspects remain unchanged. what does manual scamper have to do with stealth? Manual scamper was chase tool and by being chase tool, it is opposite of stealth.

I see it more as a tool for mindgaming since it is tied to the stealth aspect of his power, just that it can also be used for chase, however i believe it should have been more balanced towards his stealth more than what it was previously.

the survivor isn't making a mistake. the killer is brute forcing loop. the safer loop, the better. for example with shack, a chucky that runs bamboozle can block the window, vault pallet and just follow survivor hold-W key until they're in range. eventually they get the m1 hit.

Can easily be fixed by not having perks like bamboozle work with scamper.

Adjusting duration of hide-oh makes his stealth worse and it narrows window to use S&D. Changes that he does not need. There's so much in this quote alone that i completely disagree with, especially anything related to techs.

You may be perfectly fine with having Chucky's be focused entirely on his Slice & Dice so that he can be turned into yet another variant of a movement speed killer that the roster is already overbloated with, rather than having him being faithful to his source material as a stealth ambush killer, but i'm not and never will be.

Since i don't feel like dragging this discussion out any further, i'm gonna end it here and say that we're gonna have to agree to disagree on the matter, because nothing you or anyone else say is gonna change my mind on wanting manual scamper back and i absolutely will not forgive bhvr ever if they butcher Chucky even further into the direction they've currently taking him.

Which is hindered by the fact that Chucky still needs to catch up to the Survivors before he can land a hit and there is a timer on Hidey-Ho mode for how long Chucky can use Scamper to do that. If Survivors are anywhere other than at an unsafe loop that they're camping, they more often than not can outrun Hidey-Ho mode's duration.

100% missing the point here. first of all, iri amulet increases hide-oh duration by 50%. i believe it was 100% in PTB but between activating hide-oh and it is expiring which by default lasts 14 seconds and extended duration which is 14+7 so 21 seconds, the ability lasts so long that you can bloodlust in this duration. timing out ability is near impractical.

Slice & Dice is more universally time efficient than walking for chucky but the ability does not necessary grant guaranteed hits. While the ability is difficult to avoid, it is not impossible to avoid. avoiding m1 for killer almost entirely rely on killer to not be good at playing killer in general. the whole 360 clip's tiktok clips isn't real thing at the good level of dbd. it is survivor taking advantage of like newish killers. Unless you balance around m1 attacks being a semi-reliable prospective to dodge, it is not something that can be balanced around.

M1 killer are balanced around concept of distance, not the concept of avoid-ability while m2 are balanced off avoid-ability. When you add palle vaulting for m1 killers, the concept is no longer concept of distance but concept of avoid-ability which is where vault pallet →m1 problem arises which leads to my next point.

First off: Hitting a Survivor around a loop while in Hidey-ho mode isn't a problem, it's part of his mindgame aspect.

Chucky doesn't need mindgame loops if he can vault pallet and run forward. if your stats are innately better than survivors, you innately will get the hit through function of time. There is functionally no need to mindgame. you brute force every loop. Brute forcing may not be time efficient strategy… like chases can still take long enough for survivor finish all 5 gens but we are not talking about strength. we're talking about its counter-play. the interactive process between killer in chase vs survivor in chase.

Only way Chucky could ever catch up to Survivors at safe loops is if he was mindgaming with the Running Shoes add-on, which could easily just be fixed by changing the addon.

Also any stealth killer only requires a mindgame to win at a loop and any killer is also able to catch up to Survivors over a long period of time, let's not pretend otherwise.

Not without breaking pallet. safe loops in the game are functionally bloodlust 3 infinities and when killer breaks a pallet, the survivor gains a large amount of distance. it is like most basic fundamental concept of looping. You catch-up eventually as killer by survivor having no resources. It is not same thing as entirely ignoring the resource.

Current Chucky is stronger but more boring to use, while Chucky before was weaker but more interesting and was accurate to his character in the movies.

What makes him not lore accurate right now? He still scampers pallets. I mean scamper isn't strong but he still has scamper. Slice & dice is him moving faster, more of product of dbd gameplay. Chucky is m2 dash killer. Like all killers, they all have m1 but he is m2 primary focused killer. 4.4 m/s further illustrates that.

That just means addons like iri amulet is what should be looked at, not hidey-ho mode and manual scamper itself.

Again, i don't believe you for a second. I have seen many Survivors outrunning Chucky's hidey-ho mode duration in my time playing as Chucky back then, they didn't even require to do anything fancy like 360, they just needed good game sense and not camping the same pallet for the entire duration.

Which again, can be solved by adjusting the stats of Hidey-Ho mode, either through it's duration of the speed of which Chucky moves during Hidey-Ho mode.

In fact, i'm perfectly fine with having current scamper speed for Slice & Dice's scamper while manual scamper's speed is decreased so that it doesn't work in chases as well, but better for mindgaming and stealthy approach. Literally anything is better than outright removal.

Like i wrote above, stats can be changed, if the killer's stats is too much for it's power, then it can be ironed out to be more fair.

Chucky makes loud enough audible noises both when scampering and vaulting in general, something Survivors can and have used to counter him with whenever he does it, forcing him into doing mindgames.

The counter-play is again, to literally to just having game sense and outrunning the duration of Hidey-Ho mode, which you can't do by simply camping at a short loop.

Ignoring a pallet at tiles like Jungle Gym or Shack with manual scamper would not help Chucky catch up any faster unless the Survivor makes a mistake. Chucky is still gonna be forced to break the pallets in the end.

Chucky ignoring pallets and windows only helps him when Survivors camps at a loop with only a single pallet or window without nothing else nearby to chain the loop with, which tends to mostly just be unsafe loops.

Except scampering under things stealthly is what he does in the movies, without that, he is not completely lore accurate like he was prior to manual scamper's removal. It's existence is a core component to his character, the loss of it removes a piece of his character's identity.

You're talking as if his entire identity boils down to Slice & Dice only, but that's just a simplistic misrepresentation of his character as that's just one part of him.

He is much more of an stealth ambush killer than just a dash killer due to how crafty, deceptive and sneaky he is in his movies, taking his victims by surprise from place they don't expect with extreme violence. His main power being literally a stealth focused power in of itself and Survivors seeing illusions of fake footprints around them proves that and is what manual scamper plays into as it is in-character for him to do that, while Slice & Dice is the part of Chucky when he goes on the offense like in the movies.

Hidey-Ho mode, Manual Scamper and Slice & Dice are all core components to Chucky's character, remove one of them and he is incomplete. Slice & Dice scamper can't replace importance that manual scamper was to his character.

Manual Scamper must return to make Chucky as a character whole and it is something that i firmly believe in. Also i'm not the only one who feels this way as it seems the community is split on being either for or against manual scamper's existence.

IIRC it was the producer, not Damien Leone himself. And the producer only said that BHVR tried to get the license but it didn't work out, and didn't go into any further details than that.

On the bright side, that does mean BHVR at least does want Art in DBD, so at least half of the parties involved want it to happen.

Chances are that it most likely have to do with bhvr's content schedule already being full, given that it is currently already crammed packed a year or two in advanced, they probably didn't have room for Terrifier at that point in time.

With that said, it's only a matter of time before we get Terrifier, not only because of what the producer said, but also because Terrifier appeared on the license section on the last satisfaction survey we had.
