  • Feedback threads are for talking to the devs. They actually read them. General threads are just for community members to talk to each other.

Honestly, you'd really be better off sending them private feedback. That way you can provide evidence.

  • I think they saw something about Trickster becoming 4.4 and got confused.

  • I would have voted for it, if I had any clue what the reward was. I feel like they could have given some hint. But they didn't, so I voted for the boon. It will likely suck, but at least I know what it does.

  • There's no need to savage Lala and Po that bad. They try their best.

  • I don't think the removal of that quote is going to make the sensation of ball sweat on a killers head, feel any less unpleasant. I think the tea bag is what's doing most of the psychological damage.

  • Never forget that the community wanted a dev fired for having a joke quote about not liking SM. We are often awful as a community, and the devs are right to be scared of us.

  • We get this suggestion on a semi-regular basis. I'll be blunt. It's a selfish idea, that would harm the game. We all have killers that we don't like, but that doesn't mean we have the right to ban people from playing them. Killer players shouldn't have to deal with either not being able to play, or having to endure obscene wait times, just because survivors don't like certain killers.

I have to wonder if you think that killer players who keep getting blocked from playing who they want to, are just going to play a different killer? Because my guess is that most people will just stop playing entirely. Which would be catastrophic for the game's health.

  • We've got a bear with a cat on it's head.

  • I mean, plenty of weaker killers have received buffs in the last few years. Myers, Billy, Bubba, Legion, Doctor, Pig, Nemesis and Clown, all got buffs. Even decent killers like Pyramid Head and Larry have received glow ups. The weaker killers do receive attention. It's just that it's not always enough to make them substantially stronger.

Unfortunately, some killers just don't have kits that are easy to buff for high level play, without making them insufferable to play against for everyone else. For example, Trapper starting with all ten bear traps. If he had this, he would be better equipped to deal with strong teams, not doubt. But the experience of average survivors facing a killer that can cover a three gen with ten traps and just wait there, is going to be utterly miserable. The game doesn't need another OG Skull Merchant.

I'm expecting BHVR to return to their usual schedule of dropping killer improvements every few months, now that they aren't devoting resources to the anti-tunnel/slugging changes. As that basically swamped everything else for a while.

  • The DBD community is pretty awful.

    Love you guys.

  • I'd just make her unable to see auras when using her power, and call it a day. Maybe nuke Heavy Panting if you want to weaken her more.

  • Five hundred Auric Cells, so I can goof off and teabag around the map? Money well spent, in my opinion.

  • I care less about balance, and more about how stale survivor has felt for a long time. Killer powers keep getting more interesting, while survivor is still just vaulting and dropping pallets. No new mechanics are added for survivors, so perks are just re-hashes of previous perks. All just different ways to heal, do gens or get a speed boost, ect.

The Fog Vials could have been fun, but they got nuked instantly. The key rework destroyed it's only good add-on, that being Blood Amber. Not to mention that maps are still awful and uninteresting to use.

The only fun I've had in the last couple of years is the addition of Meme perks. But there's only so many you can add before they all become interchangeable. Survivor needs something new.

  • I'm sure it will be back at some point. But it will need some changes, as it's never been very popular.

    Hi all!

It seems my ban was for a month, and just like my last one I was considering appealing, but over this past month I've found the time to really stop and think about my experience in DBD and here the forums, and I've decided to move on.

I first want to say thank you all. The responses I saw in what I will colloquially refer to "the thread"... It was very humbling reading everyone's posts and support, and it was very touching to see how so many people thought so highly of me. I didn't at all expect the community to respond how it did, nor to see so many people be so kind and respectful, and I am not ashamed to admit it genuinely nearly made me cry.

With that said, I am deeply saddened to see that as a direct result of that thread, that other members of the community have been hit as well… to think others got banned as a result of defending me, it leaves me with a heavy heart. With that in mind, and with careful consideration I have decided to leave the forums and quit DBD, at least for the the foreseeable future.

I don't want to make this thread to stir things up, or to leave things on a bitter note by ragging on everything, but the primary reasons are that I do not feel I am aligned with the game or these forums anymore.

DBD itself has changed a lot, even within the relatively short time I've been playing the game, and I always was fascinated with DBDs history and evolution. Talking to the people here and learning off the numerous veterans we are lucky to have here has been a genuine joy, and certainly was a highlight of the experience. With that said though, I have been disappointed with the direction of the game.

While majority of my time in DBD is Survivor, I am also a regular Pig, Trapper, Pre-rework Myers, Hag and Skull Merchant player. I fell in love the raw m1 mind games and gameplay of DBD, and the setup/payoff style of these characters struck a particular chord with me. I play off meta Survivor perks because I enjoy playing m1 mind games without the crutches of exhaustion and second chance perks (and yes, in SoloQ).

Needless to say we don't get killers like this anymore, the game is getting too fast and optimised for killers like these. Instead every killer is cut from the same cookie cutter high mobility/high loop lethality cloth, and the power creep of the game is just getting worse and worse. It feels like the killers I do enjoy are systematically being cut out of the game.

    • Pig is power crept and always under threat of having her RBTs gutted.
    • Trapper is power crept to oblivion and still steps in his own traps.
    • Myers gameplay and the character himself is gone, the fragrent tuft doesn't give the old satisfying stalk gameplay he had.
    • Hag is power crept and gets utterly demolished by S-tech to the point she's a meme without rusty shackles.
    • Skull Merchant literally got taken behind the shed and was shot in the knees before being left to rot.

This is disheartening to say the least, however I felt like I was making whatever small difference I could by talking about and advocating for m1 killers here in the forums...

However with my recent ban, I don't feel like I have a place here. The ban escalation system we have here in the forums is completely unforgiving. I have never been malicious or intentionally offensive, in fact most of my infractions were me trying to be friendly and breaking tension... or rightly calling someone out for a blatantly obtuse and highly hostile stance against opposing arguments. I have strived to make these forums a better place by citing evidence, engaging in fair and honest discussion and encouraging others to do the same. Despite that, I have now served 2 separate 1 month bans, and am now on my final warning before being permanently banned.

While I won't discuss my infractions as that is against the rules, I personally feel that each escalation on my account could have just as easily been solved with a quiet warning, and am of the opinion this unmoving ban escalation system is fundamentally broken whilstsoever it is so casually applied on the whims and subjective opinions of the moderation team. The fact these strikes cannot ever be removed from your account implies that they should be applied VERY sparingly, and yet they seem anything but.

Suffice to say this leaves me in the scenario where I now have to pussyfoot around and tread on eggshells to ensure I don't say anything that can be twisted and distorted into something negative, and if I'm not free to discuss this game honestly, earnestly and impassioned, then there is no point discussing it at all. I will not have my voice be held at ransom and second guess everything I say for fear of another unreasonable ban hammer landing on me for keeps.

I want to close by saying, I am very thankful to everyone here in the forums. I have genuinely loved my time with DBD and don't regret any of the time I've poured both into it, and discussing and learning it here in the forums. I have made many very good friends as a result, and despite how things have ended, I look back on DBD fondly.

    Have a good one all!

    Signed a humble Pig/Kate main,

    UndeddJester

I'm sorry to see you go, but I can't say I don't understand your reasoning. Mandy did say that moderation would be more careful with bans (can't remember exactly how it was phrased), but without specifics, it's hard to know exactly what that means. I understand not wanting to continue your time here, when you could be one move from getting unfairly banned.

As sad as I will be to see you go, I can't dispute your reasoning. All I can do is wish you all the best, and hope that the world extends the same sort of kindness to you, that you freely offer to others.

May your future be bright, UndeddJester.

  • Xeno is just a very bland killer. It's got a very generic M2. It can travel between gens. That's it.

  • Krasue is still very strong. She just doesn't have anything mechanical that is particularly unique. She turned out to be a killer with pretty limited skill expression, which leads to players dropping the new shiny thing pretty fast. The exception seems to be if the killer is overtuned and ridiculously easy to play. Something like OG Chucky or OG/Current-ish Kaneki.

  • The 9.4.0 PTB patch will finally remove the de-buff from Calm Spirit. I've been waiting for years, but I just have a feeling that this patch is the one.

Yeah and typcally survivors are annoyed by constant screaming…

Thats the reason Ultimate Weapon got changed if I remember right.

So… I wouldn´t say it is fun for everyone.

OG Ultimate Weapon had some ugly synergy with things like Pig's traps. Opening lockers and just moving between boxes could make it impossible for survivors to get their traps off. My guess is that the change was done to avoid problematic synergies and to scale the power of the perk back a bit.

  • I was gonna post a picture of Jake Paul after that last fight, but then I realised it has to be DBD related. So… scratch mark recolours? The blue is pretty.

  • What about that Rainbow Six skin? He looks like a military type.

9.2.0 could have been it for me, tbh.

Grand, ambitious changes that actually improve the survivor experience, especially for solo’s. It wasn’t perfect, no, but man…

Sorry you're not feeling too optimistic right now.

Here's a cute birb. Enjoy sir.

  • If we are talking about anything, regardless of how busted it was, I would probably remove the last couple of nerfs to DH. No DH for distance, but I'd get rid of the hook requirement. It was a very strong perk (still is), but it feels like the last nerfs it received ushered in the current gen meta. Where survivors try to avoid engaging with the killer and just focus on gens instead.

The game feels more interesting when survivors are prepared to take risks, and nowadays it feels like survivors are focused on playing it safe. and just hammering gens. The game is more balanced now, but it feels less interactive than it did.

  • I still can't believe that KFC decided to promote ST, and chose a chicken burger instead of Demogoujons. What a wasted opportunity.

Even if you and your teammates are bad, getting killed that fast should not be possible for any killer. If you really did die in a minute and half, you all definitely did smth wrong that game for that to happen.

How does someone making mistakes and getting tunnelled out fast, justify the game threatening that player with a disconnection penalty for dying too quick?

It would be like if killer players got a warning for not getting any kills. Bad matches happen. Nobody should be punished for doing poorly.

  • Admittedly there isn't much in the way of survivor content that focuses on game balance. They all tend to focus on completing made up challenges, or getting value out of different builds.

You might get some analysis when a patch drops, but that's about it.

I know Im in the minority with this but I really don't get the narrative that this happened cause the killer side just cried enough.

If just crying and complaining in this forum was enough to stop changes to this game it would still be in the state it was in 2020.

You even have many killer players in this forum complaining that the changes are dumb and should be reverted, yet it's still their fault.

In the end noone knows if it's because people complained. Might as well just be that the numbers weren't right or the devs played the game themselves for once and had a bad killer game. But this narrative of every bad change for my side is the other sides fault is literary the bane of DBD

In all fairness, the devs did say that they decided to scrap everything because they received a bunch of negative feedback.

  • You guys reverted almost everything, but kept the Styptic changes? You made a purple add-on, complete garbage. Where's the priority to revert that?

  • I wouldn't worry about what they said. It's unlikely that you're being tracked unless you're a notable member of the community. The odds are they just said that to try and freak you out.

Why does everyone care about their fake internet points

Down votes negatively impact your credit score. If you get too many, you won't be able to get a mortgage. These things have real consequences for the citizens of this trash heap.

  • Playing survivor with no perks, is like playing killer with no power. Challenging? Yes. Interesting? No.

  • @MrSingularity1011 said:

You just dropped the truth bomb. They should make killer bots so they can make these survivor crybabies happy.

You can't be calling people cry babies, when you do nothing but complain and feel sorry for yourself lmao

  • Did they even stream on YT? I couldn't find it anywhere. I know it's on Twitch, but I'm not sitting through 17 minutes of KitKat Chunky adverts. I'm not a fan. Too much wafer, and not enough chocolate.

  • Just remember, getting a down vote doesn't take anything away from a well made argument.

I agree with @Blueberry, in that some posts do not deserve a well-written response. If I see someone baiting community in-fighting, I'll just down vote it and move on. I'm not going to boost the thread, and waste time preparing a response for someone who currently resides under a bridge, and sleeps on a pile of children's bones. I'm also not going to normalise that kind of behaviour without showing some opposition to it.

In cases like that, a simple down vote is the appropriate response.

  • Just give him a dash attack. That'll fix everything.

  • I think they updated the road map. The anti-tunnel/slugging changes are scheduled for October - January.

  • You've been around for almost eight years, and you've never seen busted survivors tools make it past the PTB?

You must have been hibernating during the FTP + BU meta 🤣

  • What's the plan when a new set of perks becomes popular? Nerf those too I guess. Might as well keep going till everything is mediocre.

  • If BHVR has an issue with survivors being 110% in end game, then rework Made for This. There's no reason why an end game only perk like Hope should be that weak by itself.

  • The forum has been ablaze? I was wondering why the place smelled like burning diapers.

  • I don't really like the idea of giving Myers haste for map traversal. I feel like there could be better ways for him to slow the match down, that would feel less similar to other killers. Something like a terror system. Where survivors get progressively more frightened, the longer they go without seeing him. Giving them various debuffs, and causing them to scream when they next see him.

He deserves to have something that's unique to him.

  • @Rudjohns said:

Not abandon, but insta bleedout is a good option

Doesn't that encourage the killer to slug for the 4K? I thought the reasoning behind the devs making abandoning when slugged count as a draw, was to not encourage that gameplay loop, by make slugging all survivors a win condition for killer.

Thats fair, and I do like your point about encouraging engagement with the killer. 😅

I feel S tech is the root cause of a lot of the issues surrounding Hag. I'm sure you've experienced the hook camper Hag's and the Rusty Shackles Hag's? These sadly tend to be the Hag's you encounter 90% of the time, because any Hag player who knows what they are doing is actively trying to remove S tech from the equation... and these play styles are the ones that are often no fun at all to face.

These play styles are the only 2 playstyles that AREN'T vulnerable to S tech. Hook camper Hag is sat with a mindset of who cares if you disable a trap under hook? If I have 5 more traps there and I can already port to one of them, you haven't stopped me, my campnia still in effect, and you're gonna have to commit to in at some point. Rusty Shackles Hag you can't bait me with S tech because it disables it, you have to do it by hand and KNOW the trap is there. You don't even get a warning either, no attempt to even try and react to it if you don't see it...

These play styles suck for survivor... but because S tech is a thing, this is what most experienced Hag's do to avoid the problem. The Hag that's actually playing the more interesting and fun style, the one with traps set up all over in clever places that could jump out and scare you any time, that survivors can try to bait or disable to clear escape routes, where you're trying to assess where she's been and where she is trying to herd you to? No one plays that Hag... cause she can utterly baited and boned by 1 S techer messing with her web, so instead you get cheese Hag every time...

This is why I nerfed both Hook Trapping and Rusty Shackles as well in my rework, cause these are the playstyles I don't want to see on Hag, I want Hag to play for her web, to be devious and smart with trap placement.

I feel like with the S tech removed, the skill expression for beating Hag becomes even better. You csn still use the same strategy against her, even vs. her new wards... but you actually need awareness, timing/good reactions, and good inputs to bait her now. A skilled player can absolutely still do that, and I'd argue actually gets to do that... cause you aren't seeing Cheese Hag anymore.

For less experienced players and safer plays you have wipe away, but for aggressive and more skillful plays, you have the trigger and bait, with a large genuine skill component (also bear in mind Hag has to the trap react too).

I do understand the FOV tech is humerous, but think how much of a goof Trapper can be stepping in his traps. It's funny... but also kinda pathetic... and in the face of one or two S techers... that's what Hag is... a pretty pathetic 4.4 killer who gets bullied real easy. 😭

Yeah, she definitely needs some buffs. Larry feels like he does everything Hag does, but better. Nerfing Cheddar Hag would definitely make her less obnoxious.

Hopefully the devs have a look at your suggestions. Then manage to implement them without breaking the game. Although Space Hag sounds fun.

  • I guess everyone has their own. Mine was probably Alien. All the possibilities, and we got a basic M1 killer, with a better version of Nemmy's M2. No face huggers, no acid spray, no stealth, no Ripley (that knock off don't count). Just meh.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3982987#Comment_3982987

Urgh, I do want to edit to give a better constructed argument in that post, but since its broken right now... 😮‍💨

Yeah, the issue I have with S tech, is regardless of whether you know a trap is there or not, you can do it as you run anywhere you auspect a trap might be and have it as an automatic trap nullifier at all times. All the stuff about warding and maintaining a web for Hag gets completely nullified by the ability to do this, as you an juat run imto traos repeatedly and force her to deal with you. If the aurvibkrs had to do something then tjats a bit mirr reasonable, but it's entirely automatic, no need for the players to time anything or look out for anything.

Now if you know a trap is placed, with the changes I've proposed, the skill expression to my mind is running tangentially into the trap to.trigger it and timing your inputs to reverse your run away from it for the maximum reduction of loat diatance. That would take skill and awareness to do...

However with S tech, there is no need for any timing or awareness... its effectively an automatic trap dodge.

4.6 is an option, but I try to avoid that as much as possible because Hags gameplay is to maintain a web of traps and herd survivors into it. The decision to take a trap or not while in chase ia a mind game itself, amd she can push survivors away from tiles by setting a trap, and push them to traps elsewhere she already has. This is what Hag is meant to be... but if she becomes 4.6, she almost always takes it because she can play as a normal killer instead of playing like Hag.

I hope that makes a bit more sense why I'm against S tech, but if there is a gap in my knwoeldge on it, do.let me know 😅

Funnily enough I was just updating my post to elaborate more when you replied 🤣.

When I say skill expression, I don't mean that it takes a bunch of skill to do. More that it's something that players can discover and learn. Failing multiple times, but eventually getting it right. I feel that experiences like that add value to the survivor role.

I should say that I don't play Hag. As shocking as that might be. So I may not understand the negative impact of some things on Hag's playstyle. But if the S Tech is disruptive enough to her, then I would accept it's removal. I just find FOV techs to be very funny as a survivor. So I would be sad to see any go.

  • @UndeddJester said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3982987#Comment_3982987

Always good to hear your opinion bro, but skill expression? I might need you to explain that one, cause my experience with it, S tech is the free-est, least effort middle finger to Hag and any killer I can think of... 😏

Even Skull Merchant had to a least press a button to use her drones... S tech is literally less effort than running around a Trapper trap 😅

It may not require a ton of skill to do, but it's something for less experienced players to learn and master, which I feel is valuable. It also encourages interaction with the killer, rather than just wiping the trap away and going to off to do a gen.

  • These seem like fair changes. Although I'm not sure if I'd remove the S Tech, as it offers some skill expression for survivors. Baiting a trap is probably the only interesting part about facing Hag. With that gone, she'd be even less interesting to face.

Instead, maybe making Hag 4.6 for a few seconds after teleporting would help. That way the only piece of interesting counterplay could stay intact.

  • There's only a 20% chance of going to that realm when using a map offering. It's not guaranteed anymore.
