  • There will never be any legendary skins for Bill or just in general from L4D, because bhvr cannot monetize valve's content.

If there ever were to be anymore L4D characters, it would be as their own standalone characters.

I didn't know it was talked about during the Tadaima event. Were good things said?

Wasn't much, he briefly mentioned it alongside the DBD movie and Hooked on You when talking about different ways to experience the DBD universe and how they want- and are currently working on more ways for people to do that.

I hope so. Not sure if BHVR sees enough potential Profit here.. but the designs are already here

The game has many flaws but it is very fitting in the DbD world and the killers Design is great!

As for the survivors, I dunno maybe Linda and/or Maddie as the Main surv while other Characters may fit as legendary skins for them and other original survivors (Bonnie as a Nea legendary or even Augustine Lieber as Taurie legendary)

It appeared on the last license Survey bhvr held in 2024, bhvr listed it last month on their twitter alongside DBD for the Quebec Games Celebration and i still hear Cote talk about it every now and then (recently in fact at the Tadaima fan event in japan)

So i don't think it's unlikely that we'll eventually get it one day, based not only on how there are enough of a loud percentage of people asking for it to become a chapter, as well as the fact that BHVR owns the game itself and can do with it as they please at any time.

  • Only realistic way Crow Mauler would ever get added is if it's a Visceral Legendary skin for Artist, because both their crow related powers are close enough to one another.

  • Alan Wake will forever be my main as every aspect of the implementation of his character is just great.

The voice acting, the design and likeness, the lore and the music, it's all just peak.

I honestly expect the same. I mean, their Operation Health they are currently doing is also thanks to FNAF bringing a lot of new players into the game. This will be a big part of it.

But people will be disappointed if the Chapter does not turn out exactly as they wished it would have turned out. And I am very sure that this will happen, simply because expectations are sky-high.

While BHVR's health patches will mostly help alleviate some frustrations in the game, i don't think it's gonna change how many people from the influx of fnaf players will ultimately stay or leave the game after the dlc drops, as DBD is not for everyone and alot of people have already bought the game and played it in anticipation for the crossover.

  • Highly unlikely to ever come back for multiple reasons.

The creator of Fnaf Scott Cawthon is involved in the project, same as the fnaf movie which was made for the people who love the franchise and no one else. It WILL be a success in that way, but people will only stay if the perks and mechanics are actually fun. I wouldn't be surprised if we got new mechanics never before seen in the game.

If it really is going to be Springtrap as majority of people want, then i don't see how we're going to get some brand new never before seen mechanics, given that we already have a camera system in the form of Singularity's Biopods, Ventilation system in the form of Xeno's tunnels, AI Phantom Animatronics in the form of Knight's guards.

Unless they take liberties like they did with Pyramid Head, i legit cannot see what brand new never before seen mechanic bhvr can bring to a fnaf crossover that hasn't already been previous done in some shape or form.

    Most likely, yes.

I am sure that will go well, especially considering the brigading done here when the Hellraiser teaser wasn't FNAF. Can only imagine what could happen if people are disappointed by the adaptation if they freaked out over a teaser trailer not being what they wanted.

It would be the same kind of disappointed as when Skull Merchant turned out to not be a killer cyborg like the tools of torment chapter teaser led people to believe.

I even moreso imagine people would have been more disappointed over Doomed Course if it had any pre-ptb teasers, especially seeing the mixed reaction to Houndmaster herself.

Personally however, ATW is the biggest let down for me.

  • I fully expect the chapter to not live up to the hype and will cause people to be disappointed over the final product.

  • I have plenty of issues with the entire chapter of ATW as a whole, but as far as gameplay goes, while Unknown is not my cup of tea to play as, i think it's fine as it is.

  • Outside of killer tied side objectives for Survivors to do that feels organic to the trials, i think instead of just adding additional base game objectives just for the sake of it, a better alternative would be to make current objectives more interactive to do.

For example, things like different types/variations of mini games and different ways to repair the generators i feel would already improve things alot.

  • That's a Sadako power, not Kayako, as Sadako does that in later films such as in Sadako vs Kayako (and possibly also in Sadako 3D i think).

Considering they are both ‘onryo’ I would be surprised if she didn’t come in as a skin for Sadako at the very least at some point, but would be cool to have her as a separate chapter or killer and have the power act differently.. problem is, it might be difficult to implement - any ideas you have for how the killer would play or thematically operate?

I would be surprised if she didn’t come in as a skin for Sadako at the very least at some point

Except for the fact that two different licenses cannot be mixed together, same reason why Vecna from Stranger Things cannot be a skin for Vecna from Dungeons & Dragons.

Even then, Kayako absolutely needs to be her own character, as Sadako and Kayako are the equivalent to Freddy and Jason over in Japan.

any ideas you have for how the killer would play or thematically operate?

    Pretty easy actually.

    • Toshio as an AI assistance to Kayako that helps her finding and detecting Survivors which allows Kayako to teleport to his location with undetectable.
    • Kayako's death rattle at it's least intense being her lullaby or part of her terror radius.
    • Kayako's sprint crawling as her special attack with her death rattle being at it's most intense when she attacks Survivors with it.
in Yay or nah Comment by Smoe
  • A dlc leaving doesn't prevent them from adjusting and changing killers balance wise, they did it with Demogorgon while the Stranger Things dlc wasn't available.

Well, i do agree with your point and understand what you mean. As any customizations would require every licence on the board to collectively say yes once asked and if even 1 says no they can't do it at all.

But i wonder why its the last thing on their list if they arent able to add badges/banners/cosmetics/charms of any kind. All that comes to mind that they could possibly do is adding the red borders to the character select screen. So what do you think the prestige rewards will be?

I don't know, a permanent increase in the bloodpoint gain rate maybe?

  • @ShanoaLegendaryPlz said:

Thats what i meant by similar to bloody outfits. Still the basic outfit but altered in some other way that might still be allowed as im aware some licence holders are never going to allow a new outfit of somekind. Like lara croft not getting a sweater.

That's what i'm saying, it doesn't matter if it's similar to bloody outfits or not, as long as it's anything customization related, it's out of the question.

  • Anything customization related in any way is 100% not gonna happen since it cannot be streamlined due to the existence of licensed characters.

Pennywise was at one point in the works, if I remember correctly, but it never got finished because of licensing issues.

Slenderman though? It could be a really good chapter.

Pennywise was never in the works, bhvr tried way back in 2017-18 to contact Stephen King to get IT into DBD, he turned them down however, same way how after the last attempts at doing video game adaptations of his work between 1985 to 1994, he has turned down further attempts at video game adaptations of his work from any and all.

  • @Caiman said:

These changes could range anywhere from "barely effects anything" to "punishes most killers in the game just for playing it". If it swings towards the latter side, it could be the beginning of DbD finally dying if they manage to push away the killer playerbase.

If the latter scenario happens, bhvr is obvious gonna do something alleviate those issues like they've done in the past or just roll back the feature and either further working on it to try again another time with a different iteration or just try a different approach altogether.

Any hypothetical doomsday scenario of the game dying is incredibly unlikely to happen at this point in the game's lifespan and would require something way more damaging and controversial that bhvr wouldn't simply just be able to fix in the game or bounce back from due to some external factor outside the game.

  • Anything beyond the basic game mechanics shouldn't be included in the tutorials as there's way too much to get into specific things like most of what you listed.

Quick informational videos that unlocks after playing as/against a killer for the first time or discovering something in-game for the first time that people can watch and read about in the menu is imo, a better approach to take.

  • Threads like these are why i cannot take what the community says serious half the time.

    Perks should randomly change mid-match.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3879969#Comment_3879969

When I describe DBD to someone who hasn't played the game, I describe it as 1 cat vs 4 mice, and the 4 mice get three chances to get caught by the cat before they die. Never once have I ever, and I mean ever, described Dead by Daylight as a horror game to people. Reading your post made me realize that.

I play Dead by Daylight a lot — and I no longer even describe the game as being in the "horror" genre.

Rather than randomly, perks should change for every gen that's completed or every Survivor that's hooked, makes the randomization condition during mid-match more consistent.

  • @SoGo said:

Anyway, Hide and Seek mode when?

Chaos Shuffle stayed the same for the 3rd time and it's starting to get really repetitive.

I mean, that's to be expected that it stays the same every time, as there's quite literally almost nothing else to change about the mode as the whole point of it is randomization of the game.

At most, you could randomize characters and add-ons as well, but that's about it.

  • It's alright placements, personally this is how i would rate them based on my own enjoyment of them.

    my-image.png
  • I usually keep the camera in the middle while moving it up and down across a gen's aura until the arrow hovers over it.

  • Only Terminator chapter i'll accept is if it's purely based on Terminator 1 while keeping any sequel material as skins.

  • As long as the yellow filter doesn't return as well, i'm not opposed to them bringing back night time coldwind as an optional variant of the map.

  • I'll take bots over a prolonged queue time any day, i'll go even further and wish that they implemented bot fill-in for when people DC during loading times as well.

  • I'll take bots over longer queues any day.

Chucky definitely needs the old scamper back. It's like dude, he couldn't even get you at a short pallet loop, WITH the 2% increased Haste add-on, if you just cut the loop tight and/or mindgamed well enough. And the pushback against him having that ability is basically, "He can get me at loops. That's unfair." It's the Wraith/Deathslinger nerfs all over again.

Definitely agree on the chapter buildup. If the next chapter just released all of a sudden, it's like "Whoa! What's this?!" Exciting, you know. Unfortunately, chalk it up to the devs' incompetence or spaghetti code, every time a new chapter goes live even with prior testing, the game gets massively screwed up. Reintroduced bugs, lag, perks not working, and killers not working. And the ptb for the most part is just there so that survivors can say, "Knee cap this killer!" earlier than release, so that they don't even have to deal with the killer at their strongest on live, and then still have the gall to later say, "He's still OP!" Look at Chucky or Dracula or new Freddy.

I really don't like Houndmaster's design. She was a waste of the pirate killer slot, the hound master killer slot, and the black lady killer slot, all in one fell swoop. Her gameplay is mostly fine.

I'm not even gonna comment on the majority of all that, all i'm going to say is Chucky specifically shouldn't have had his Scamper removed, not because of any aspects of strength, but solely because of it's importance to his character.

I really don't like Houndmaster's design. She was a waste of the pirate killer slot, the hound master killer slot, and the black lady killer slot, all in one fell swoop. Her gameplay is mostly fine.

And i highly disagree with all that.

Houndmaster to me is anything but a waste of any slots, her design is much better than whatever generic, uninspired and rehashed blackbeard-esque pirate getup slop that hollywood have carved into people's brains, which has cemented itself in pop culture whenever people associate anything with pirates at this point and i firmly stand by that.

  • Agree to Disagree.

I actually like those headpieces because of the eyes.

    • Chucky should get his manual scamper back because it was too important to his character.
    • Nurse's tome objectively didn't retcon her base lore, it's just the expectation of people's own subjective intepretation of her base lore that weren't met.
    • All techs/exploits that uses an unintentional aspect are unhealthy for the game and does not belong in it whatsoever.
    • Wesker & Legion have the worst chase music, in the sense that it fits the least as chase tracks.
    • DBD Mobile's cosmetics are worse than DBD Core's cosmetics.
    • Forgotten Ruins is not nearly as bad as some people make it out to be.
    • Most maps are not problematic in design.
    • DBD isn't just purely about the chases.
    • The Finisher Mori is perfectly fine and should not be removed, only reason Survivors blame it as the reason for killers slugging is because they need a scapegoat.
    • Older generation consoles are holding the game back.
    • The memory wipe upon sacrifice aspect in the lore is perfectly fine.
    • Myers stun noise should be removed as it doesn't fit the character.
    • Chapters would be better off without any teasers or marketing to build up hype for the chapter, because it always just leads to people being disappointed in the end.
    • Character authenticity and accuracy both aesthetically and gameplay wise are the single most important aspects no matter what and should never be compromised or be prioritized less over other aspects such as balance. (Unless it's Remake Freddy)
    • The All Things Wicked chapter is the single most overrated chapter and it's popularity is solely carried by its initial marketing only.
    • DBD shouldn't get anymore Resident Evil chapters.
    • Backpacks makes cosmetics better.
    • Vittorio needs less medieval & modern outfits and more outfits from different time periods.
    • The game should not be balanced around high level players the same way other games are, because DBD is not like other games and cannot be balanced like other games.
    • The snowmen moving in the 2024 Bone Chill event was an improvement over them being completely static, all it needed was some tweaking in it's pathing.
    • Houndmaster's default design is 100x better than the stereotypical hollywood pirate design that have been carved into people's minds.
    • Content creators have made and is still making the game worse.
    • DBD will never truly be the hall of fame of horror as certain important horror icons will most likely never make it in.
    • Sable and Unknown are both depthless characters who's popularity only carried by their designs alone rather than any of their perks or power.
    • Both the bot lobby fill-in feature for DCs during both loading and during trial are/were only good things for the game and should be a permanent features.
    • The PTB DC Bot fill-in during loading feature should have made it to live.
    • BHVR should go through with bot fill-in for 2v8.
    • Houndmaster's live chase track is better than her ptb one.
  • I always charm up all my characters, literally no reason not to.

I always go for 2 Survivor/Killer memorabilia charms that are related to the respective characters that i'm equipping them on, one based on their teachable perks and the other based on their lore, then lastly a figurine of the character themselves in the last slot.

Okay if you say so. From all the recent ######### ups of the behaviour I just don't have very positive outlook on them. At some point they really just gotta take a break from chapters or at least make a chapter that is not being released with a bunch of bugs. And maybe focus on full on bug fixes and code stability more so the changes don't break half the game is all.

They actually did do a bug fix only patch at one point in the past, people complained about how there was no new content in it.

Maybe they'll reduce the number of chapters per year at some point in the future, when they feel like there is enough content in the game to warrant doing so.

as far as a health chapter goes, it isn't really gonna do all that much different than what hotfix patches already does. Fixing the code itself is what's gonna actually help reduce the number of bugs and make the game more stable.

However as stated before, a task that big is a much larger endeavour to accomplish due to the sheer quantity of content in the game already that would need to be recoded, as well as the fact that it could potentially take years to accomplish, during which we'd sit with a content drought until they're done and that could easily hurt the game much more than what any buggy patch or unpopular chapter ever could.

With that said, since bhvr have throughout the years been updating old and oudated stuff in the game that they otherwise couldn't really change or fix before, as well as how Mathieu Cote have said in interviews that the foundation of the game would see some love in the future back in late 2024, i don't think it's a stretch to suggest that they're already working on fixing the code as we write, they're just slowly working on it through multiple patch over time instead of in a single giant patch.

  • @DestroyerBG said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3880471#Comment_3880471

Yeah I guess so. I just hope most people don't decide to just keep quiet cause the bugs are only gonna get worse from now on if they don't start fixing them

    1. People have been vocal about DBD's issues throughout it's entire lifespan, there's quite literally no reason to assume that's gonna change all of the sudden.
    2. Yeah nah, i don't agree with you about bugs only going to get worse from now on, compared to what we've had in the past, the bugs that plagued the game before the hotfix patch that we got today were relatively mild in comparison.
    3. There's no reason to assume the developers won't try and fix as many issues and bugs as they realistically can with the bandwith they have available, however some of these issues cannot realistically be fixed in the timeframe from now to the release of the fnaf chapter, especially such as things like recoding the game from scratch, which is a much bigger endeavour than what most people seems to think it is.
  • You do one health update to remove some of the issues in the game, it might just cause other issues elsewhere.

Hell, even the update that'll include the fnaf chapter could easily cause issues by itself regardless if you do a health update before it releases.

A single health update is meaningless if they don't fix the game's code itself, something they realistically cannot do within the timeframe of the fnaf chapter's release date, as such a task by itself would mean a potential content drought for who knows how long, potentially years due to much content that's already in the game and i don't think the playerbase have the patience to wait for that process to finish.

It's better to do such an endeavour over multiple patches, something i get the feeling they're already doing.

If they actually fix all the bugs and also fix the lag people easily get on their servers the gameplay loop may be the same but it will be 200% better because it is smooth and enjoyable. Also basically if you produce quality product everyone will talk about it and give positive feedback to everyone. Although that was obvious and if you don't well then everyone will start saying the truth that your product is absolutely broken and falsely advertised as good for example and they will do everything possible to deny it is worth even a try. Pretty much keep your game stable you get to keep growing don't keep the game stable everyone will eventually leave and forget about it. Maybe this game is the only one of its kind for now that kinda works but you can't really keep on going on hopes that every fan you got will sit by you like a lapdog.

Yes, thank you for stating the obvious that applies to literally every single game.

It doesn't change the fact that no matter how much you fix in the game or add to the game, some people are still gonna find DBD's base gameplay loop monotonous because despite the variations, it's still the same in the end.

Nor does it change the fact that there will always be people playing DBD regardless of the state it's in.

I agree, small patches to fix certain issues would go a long way. Especially with the Kindred changes where it used to show the killer without any obscuring. I know Behavior said it was intended to allow some secrecy on the killer's behalf, but sometimes you don't get any information due to how long it takes the bubble to go away concealing the killer.

Why I typically attach Open-Handed with Kindred just to provide information, as Kindred by itself sometimes doesn't relay much information due to the changes made in patch 6.0.

But regardless, I hope that they start to make some changes as I've seen bugs with Houndmaster for example — where she summons the dog and it gets stuck in one place, while it just continues to bark over and over again. I think the community just wants many changes due to how monotonous DBD has become to play, to be fair.

I personally like that bubble, makes it easier to tell where a Survivor is hooked from. I'd be fine with it being removed via some perk, but i don't think it should to be removed completely.

As far as i can tell, the most egregious bugs that plagued Houndmaster have been fixed with the recent bug fix patch and i haven't noticed any new bugs with her either.

Also the truth is that if the game feels monotonous to you already, then it's most likely going to feel so regardless of how many QOL features they do, as the gameplay loop will still remain the same in the end.

Only way for it to not feel that way, is if bhvr by some unrealistic chance decides to create some new game mode with entirely new gameplay forms for both Survivors and Killers that changes how you play the game completely.

  • I've read somewhere that restarting the game sometimes helps with this, if that doesn't work then you could try contacting support.

Developers listing bugs in patch notes that they thought they had fixed but turns out that they haven't isn't a bhvr exclusive thing, so let's not start acting like it suddenly is.

People have been saying for the longest time that they needed to do an Operation Health like Rainbow Six Siege did, but regardless Behavior will do what Behavior does.

I doubt we will ever get a revamped patch that fixes many issues. It's sad, but it is what it is for me.

Taking into account the potential long-term content drought it would have, as no new content of any kind would be able to be added, as well as how there's no telling how long we would have to wait for such an update to arrive.

Them doing some big health update this late into the game's lifespan is far too late and i doubt the playerbase have the patience to wait who knows how long before bhvr have finished such an endeavour.

It's better to space such a task out through multiple patches, something i have a feeling that they're already doing.

  • We're probably gonna see something when we actually get to the date of the event itself.

    1. No. I want their outfits to match their backgrounds. Behavior has made every other character's outfit match their background. For example: The Twins wear raggedy and dirty clothes to indicate that they're peasants from the 17th century. Yui has multiple outfits referencing the fact that she's a street racer. Meg Thompson wears athletic clothing in a lot of outfits to reference her background of being an athlete. I just want cosmetics that reference Houndmaster's background of being a pirate. I don't expect a tricorn, but something a straw hat, which was very common back then.
    2. You're thinking of black and white suits. When I say formal attire, I'm talking about the kind that actual codebreakers wore, like this:

      https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/VL0VYLDCEN1A/codebreaker-friedman-peabodyinstlibrary-baltimoremd-03061958-1-2-jpg-1400x933-q85-crop-subsampling-2.jpg

    3. My apologies for forgetting about those outfits.

I just want Houndmaster's outfits to match her background instead of the Victorian era.

As long as it's only some outfits and not every outfit, then i don't have a problem with it.
