This is also occuring to me and @gerolau . We have both restarted the game 3 times and have not successfully gotten into a game once. Since we cannot get into a game, no logs are possible.

You don't need to join a game to get the logs, just by starting up the game is enough. The log needed will always be available in the files, specifically the log below being the one needed for bug reports.

    got pushed up in priority

I mean, that's part of what we're saying here. We don't know what was going on behind the scenes. Maybe they had no plans to make those changes, maybe they were just going really slowly on making the changes. But the changes suddenly became a priority when those incidents happened, and that's the important part.

From what i've heard from Cote and former dev McLean regarding the insta-blind incident (maybe Almo also talked about it at one point during one of his personal twitch streams long ago, but i can't quite remember), the change to insta-blind was already in the works prior to the korean match. It was just coincidental timing that the release of the change and the event Cote played was so close to one another.

Don't remember specifically what the official DBD account on twitter said, but i remember when some big shot on twitter called them out around when the Almo Clown incident was still fresh, they said something about the colorblind change was also already in the works prior.

I haven't heard anything in relation to the most recent one, however given that the Quality of Life initiative was announced way prior to the recent TWD livestream, maybe there was something there as well.

Regardless of whatever may be the truth or not about those incidents, one thing is certain. There's always gonna be people, who will believe in the popular or widespread community sentiments no matter what.

It's not that he makes changes, it's that BHVR makes changes when they're publicly embarrassed. Him being annihilated after BHVR said insta-blinds are fine reflected poorly on BHVR. They don't like being embarrassed or having bad PR. That's why the flashlight changes, colorblind mode, and now this change to lobbies all went through. The people who were the public faces of those things didn't actually make the changes in any of those three cases (I'm pretty sure about that, anyway).

Hot Take: I think there's a likely possibility that those changes could have already been in the works prior to those incidents happening, but got pushed up in priority because of them.

That was my immediate thought too. We need to make Cote go over to Asia to play again whenever stuff like this happens.

And what is he gonna do exactly? His entire job is just dealing with licenses, as head of partnerships at bhvr. Anything gameplay related isn't his department.

they actually combined all the copyright holdings into one thing besides army of darkness so everything else is up for grabs if bhvr is down i guess.

so yes a young ash is very possible if bhvr teams up with studiocanal.

bhvr already have a relationship with Studiocanal, who do you think they got the Terminator license from for Deathgarden?

Regardless, it would still require a re-negotiation of their current licensed contract, before they can actually use anything from the other installments. Even then, it's not a guarantee that a re-negotiation will happen and that we'll still only get content tied to Ash vs Evil Dead.

  • Unless they do a full code rewrite, no amount of delaying is gonna change anything in the long run.

  • I trust experienced players or content creators even less with the direction of the game than i do with BHVR.

  • The layoffs happened a year ago, that's not recent.

Also Tryks fits neither as a Killer nor as a Survivor. There is no connection between Jezabel & Sable either outside of a similar hair color, seriously none of the proof given is solid.

  • Every version of Young Ash falls under different licenses than the one we have in the game, so don't count on it.

  • Horror =/= Scary.

They're connected to one another, but they're not the same thing. The former is objective while the latter is subjective.

Horror can exist in multiple different forms than just the most conventional idea of the meaning, there's a reason why so many subgenres exist within horror. Hell, even with slasher horror that DBD is based off of, Texas Chainsaw Massacre is one of the most famous examples of horror taking placing during both night & day time.

Also the game's title is more like a saying, than it is a literal meaning.

  • Their facial structure despite looking similar, is still different in certain areas (like with the chin, eyebrow & nose), their voices are different from each other and Sable's hair is more grey and white, while Tryks is more blue-ish white.

    So i would say no.

Genuinely surprised this is under review.

You should use you're magic fingers and make a bug report for Hillbilly's Ice capped jeans and Jill's 4 dollar default head piece.

It's been done a long time ago by others from what i remember, the difference with that cosmetic however, is that it's directly ported from the non-netease developed DBD mobile.

So it wouldn't fall under as a bug.

You're better off maing a thread about it in the feedback and suggestion subforum instead.

I don't concern myself with complaints from people unfamiliar with DBD's landscape.

    Neither should you.

BHVR definitely doesn't concern themselves with them.

What is this roadblock you keep putting up? Can you elaborate on what you think is going to happen if people on the Internet get disappointed by their own mistake?

Will the complaints reach a boiling point? What then?

More people in this community are unfamiliar with DBD's landscape and even if they are, there's still some that will complain over it regardless.

People in this community already complain over things big or small, realistic or unrealistic. Fact that people here are complaining about not getting some worthless cosmetics as a reward for a grind, that bhvr didn't even original want to encourage people to dedicate time and energy into, a grind that people will reach eventually anyway, but only changed stance because people would not shut up about it, is but an example.

People have already previously clogged up the forum and other social sites by spamming the same threads over and over again in the past, over something they were unhappy with. I don't want another annoying year long streak of non-stop complaints over a single issue again, like people did with Deathslinger's original ADS when it was still in the game, or when MMR was introduced.

I don't want P100 rewards in the first place, and i hope bhvr never changes the reward to be cosmetics, but i also know they always bend the knee if people complain hard and long enough.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3962568#Comment_3962568

I'm not saying the licensed characters should get recolors.

I'm saying that licensed characters merely existing shouldn't ruin the whimsy of planting your flag atop a metaphorical mountain.

    • Original characters get the P100 recolors
    • Licensed characters get a generic reward

As per the norm that BHVR has already established.

People who main these licensed characters don't complain about this disparity because it's expected. Everybody in the know already understands that licensed characters aren't going to get prestige related cosmetics.

This is what I've been saying the entire time, you'd know that if you read my posts instead of making assumptions.

Yeah? well guess what, people are still gonna complain over it regardless and you're kidding yourself for believing otherwise.

It's clear that bhvr have made up their mind on not wanting to do different rewards for different characters, you all might as well accept the situation as it is, because it's not gonna change.

  • @Jay_Whyask said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3962210#Comment_3962210

    Except it doesn't.

Original characters will always have bigger catalogs than licensed ones, with or without prestige rewards.

Yes it does, also original characters having a bigger catalog than licensed characters doesn't change my point.

BHVR cannot give cosmetics to all characters as P100 rewards, because licensed characters like Freddy & Pinhead are unable to get any type of cosmetics at all, something that Mandy's comments backs up. The only reason characters have bloody cosmetics to begin with, is because it's something that came with the characters initially.

So tell me, how in the world bhvr are gonna give reskins as a streamlined P100 reward for all characters? Because i'm telling you, they cannot. Likewise, they're certainly not gonna do it for original characters only either, because again, the reward has to be streamlined for all characters, otherwise people are gonna complain over the rewards being inequal.

  • @Jay_Whyask said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3961713#Comment_3961713

But… Original characters already have access to thing unavailable to licensed characters?

People were asking for Wesker's white midnight outfit when he was released & that never happened because most licensed characters don't get essential recolors. If they do, it's because they're pseudo original like Ghostface or Beamar.

We're not expecting the moon and the stars, just like, iridescent recolors of the original characters default outfits? Maybe?

Recolors shouldn't be a sisyphean task considering the Rift is often full of them.

It is expecting the moon and stars asking for any cosmetics. If bhvr starts making cosmetics of any kind as rewards, people will expect all characters to have the same type of reward. If characters aren't given equal rewards across the board, people will complain about it.

BHVR will have to streamline the reward type to every single character, original and licensed. Something that is very much impossible to do with cosmetics for all licensed characters, even that of recolors.

Edit: Ya'll can downvote me all you want, it doesn't change the fact that licensed characters makes giving all characters any kind of cosmetics as P100 rewards entirely impossible. You're all deluding yourselves if you think otherwise or think that it's some easy thing to just add.

  • They should, half of his addons became completely worthless to run when they removed manual scamper.

It also took away an aspect of Chucky that i'd argue, was too important to the representation of Chucky's character, since it was very in line with his character.

Most of the movies starting with 3 were Distributed by Buena Vista interactive, another subsidiary of Disney.

If Clive took it back, I'll stand corrected. Still, I don't trust Disney offering licenses towards ANYTHING, and am pretty sure Fortnite will understand why in a year or so here. I just don't want BHVR to make such a callous mistake for the asinine reason of a potential cash grab opportunity.

Again, Clive only owns the US right to the first movie with Park Avenue owning the international rights, the rest are owned by Park Avenue. If Disney owns anything past 3, then that's news to me.

We already have a disney license in the game, it's called Alien.

Also if there was a Star Wars collab in the works, the Cote interview wouldn't be anything to prove that with, as you can never take what he says at face value, since he never directly admits to any collabs currently in the work due to license talks are super confidential and delicate, which is why he is always giving vague or in-direct answers.

  • @TWiXT said:

No, Disney flips on a dime when it comes to licensing. Hell, the Pinhead/Hellraiser franchise rights are currently owned by Hulu, who are owned by Disney, so is it any wonder why BHVR can no longer sell Pinhead as a licensed character? On top of that, Star Wars is as far from a horror franchise and as main steam Pop-culture as it gets. Thematically No characters from that franchise works in DbD except as a skin (could totally see Doc rocking A Darth Sidious skin, but can't see the character being part of the game).

Honestly, adding Darth Vader to DbD would be seen as less of something that belongs in DbD, and more of a soulless "Cash Grab" made even worse by the fact that it would be directly following the coattails of Fortnite's recent acquisition of the character. Fortnite is all about Pop culture icons, DbD is about Horror Icons, these two are not the same, nor should they be.

BHVR have done a Fantastic job getting so many Licenses for the horror Icons We all know and even some of us grew up with, And that Niche is what Draws so many people to it in the first place. Jumping on the Pop culture bandwagon by bringing a character that doesn't belong thematically at all into DbD, will straight up ruin that. Also putting themselves in Disney's pocket will spell DOOM for BHVR down the line, that is IF they don't take back their license only a few months Afterwards, and screw BHVR over that way, which is the most likely case.

If they do get Darth Vader, they Might as well bring in My Little Pony, Spiderman, or Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty, because this won't be a Horror game anymore… It'll be a joke.

(TBF… Chasing down Twilight Sparkle with a chainsaw does sound funny as hell to me, ngl)

Hulu only owns the 2022 remake of Hellraiser.

Park Avenue owns all the other movies along with international ownership of the first movie while Clive Barker owns the US rights to the first movie, said first movie being what DBD had the license for with the dlc.

  • @Iron_Cutlass said:

There is a difference between presentation to the audience versus presentation to in-universe characters.

Darth Vader is intimidating and scary for the character in-universe since they are extremely powerful, unnaturally alive, and powered by their own rage and suffering. To most people, they are an unstoppable forced, and if you get in their path you will be cut down.

Contrary to this, the audience is shown and told how things are in-universe but they do not exhibit the same response. Darth Vader is cool, but they are not scary to the audience, there is no perceived threat from them. Darth Vader has been a marketing ploy for Star Wars for so long that the hold more value as being an icon or cool character but nothing has really directed people to feel scared of them or their presence.

To me, I dont think Darth Vader is scary enough to fit into DBD, but that's just me. But BHVR has set the idea that "if it can kill, it can be a Killer, thus it can fit in the game" with a lot of their content over the past few years, so nothing really is off the table here I guess.

Apart from the fact that what is or isn't scary is entirely subjective, Vader hasn't really been presented in that many horror type situations before from what i know. The Rogue One scene is one of the few types of moments i've seen people mention in regards to Vader being scary.

  • @Mr_K said:

Last thing I want is to have Disney anywhere near this game.

Disney is already near DBD, they own Alien.

  • Dead by Daylight is M rated, which is 17+.

So if we follow the ESRB, then no, minors shouldn't be allowed to play this game.

  • @MarbleThrone said:

The way it is displayed in the Store is probably intended: for a while now, new characters have been put at the very top, likely in order to make it easier to access their cosmetics for those who are interested in those.

Huntress should indeed be moved up and be placed before Myers. While Myers did get released much earlier, all free characters that are included in the base game are always displayed first in order of release date (hence why you see Bill before Laurie, even though he was added later).

I'm aware and it's something i've always thought was stupid, as release order of characters always made more sense to me than having free characters displayed first.

  • The voicelines adds more personality and depth to the characters, i fully hope we get voicelines for older characters too.

  • Prefered when we didn't have any teasers for chapters, but it is what it is.

I was thinking either they get made into legendary skins for the survivors that are similar to counsellor stats suck as meh and Vanessa Eric as Dwight and so on for the rest. Or just come up with 3 perks and have them as one survivor but with different skins like they did with the D&D survivors

I know it’s never likely to happen but I just wanted to see what other people though 🙂

I know Jason would never get added now but I really liked the counsellors and how they represented different horror stereotypes

I know Jason would never get added now

does the haste stacking count for both sides or just one?

    Both.

  • Good ######### riddance, i have nothing but pure disdain for both hinder and haste stacking, it was some of the most annoying ######### to go up against in this game.

The sooner they're gone, the better.

  • Because the license only covers the first movie and only that one.

  • Assuming we're still getting lore at all, considering how alot of people don't really engage with the lore past the base lore because it was locked behind archive challenges, this makes it easier to do so now to do so with the tome lore as well.

  • A favorite? Don't think i have one.

You really like that Survivors get aura reading on top of disabeling a drone? - Which should be reward enough of hacking it - denying the projectile part of her "maybe" future kit?

Not a fan of the rework cause I liked here version before the butchering - still open to those changes.. With a little tuning and hopefully without the aura reading for survivors.

Assuming they make disabling drones a harder task, then yes, i would say it would be an appropriate reward.

Although i am also open for giving Survivors other types of payoff from disabling the drones.

Yea, the MOST they could do would be to put it on the free track of a Rift (They did give him an outfit in a Rift awhile ago) then later for Shards.

Which i doubt they will, exactly because they can't monetize those legendary skins later on like they could with the Castlevania ones and i don't see them ever making legendary skins available via shards only.

  • As long as it exclude certain stats that could potentially cause more issues and arguments between users to emerge, i see no issue with this.
