While it would be extremely amazing to have a Supernatural themed chapter, I think it is very unlikely. Not sure why, I just don't think it will happen. Maybe I don't want to get my hopes up.

I mean, if the report below is true, then there might be a chance of it happening at some point, along with other IPs that Warner Bros holds the copyright to.

While I agree from a balance perspective, I'm not sure if the ceiling down there is high enough above the ground to actually allow enough vertical space for a hook.

They could always just tweak the space of the boiler room itself to make room for hooks.

    Should be doable.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Hard to disagree. Couple of weeks ago I lost a carry due to a silent Flashbang because I had to trek up the stairs to attempt a hook. Even worse if you don't break the side walls (which you shouldn't anyways).

For me, i had a 3-4 man squad with breakout and boil over, as soon as i downed anyone and carried them up to one of the hooks above, they would wiggle out just as i was about to reach it and run back down to the boiler room again repeatedly.

Even just as i was about to reach one of the hooks at one point after being forced to break one of the side walls, another Survivor would just quickly sabotage it and cause me to drop the Survivor again.

  • Which Survivor needs more love?

    Yes.

Camera on her back as a part of a cosmetic. Have her cosmetics include the kind of equipment that actual ghost hunters have.

With that out of the way, i have a few points to make here about your take.

    1. It sounds like you want characters to look more generic and stereotypical, while there's nothing wrong with wanting that, it is not a requirement to look that way and imo, it is just rather uninspiring and unoriginal to go for that.
    2. The formal attire getup sounds more like a secret agent thing than a codebreaker.
    3. Both Haddie and Jonah already have cosmetics that are close to what you're describing, which is Jonah's Hardboiled outfit + Cyber Investigator outfit and Haddie's Ghost Hunter outfit.

Haddie is supposed to be a monster/ghost hunter but none of her cosmetics hint towards that. And Jonah is supposed to be a CIA Code cracker but none of his cosmetics hint towards that.

And what exactly is a monster/ghost hunter or a CIA code breaker even supposed to look like?

When people are leaving the ship it's already too late for that. They must act NOW when they still have a playerbase.

You're acting like the playerbase is gonna disappear all of the sudden real soon, when that's obviously not gonna happen as the playerbase have already endured worse periods throughout the game's 9 years lifespan than what we're currently dealing with.

Also the next hotfix patch is a week away, with another one the week after.

  • Well that's disappointing.

  • I don't think people would be happy about experimental PTBs, seeing as the few times they've actually tried that, people thought it was awful.

I guess I am looking at the bigger picture. What is currently happening between Choy and BHVR is a live communication event. BHVR has already set the rules ("No public MMR.") and Choy found a way to circumvent that. This is a reflection of the relationship between the player base and the developers. Choy found a metaphorical gun and pointed it at BHVR the first chance he got. No matter how BHVR responds to this situation, things have already escalated. Not to hostility per se, but I don't think happy people playing a happy game made by happy people would act like this. This is described in Choy's video where he acknowledges what he is doing isn't cool, but is justified because BHVR fired a whole bunch of people … and should have known they needed resources on standby for when the community wanted more control over the rulebook? To me, this is a power struggle. There is severe concern that the community is going to look for similar patterns to communicate with the developers moving forward. The reason I labeled this thread Armageddon is because this whole situation reflects a turning point in the community culture.

I don't remember a time in the past where the community intentionally gave developers … more work … to get something. Any resources spent working on frivolous privacy requests is less resources working on a full chapter, bug fixes, new cosmetics, etc.

I am not a lawyer, and I am not going to study and become one to fully understand the nuance behind global privacy laws. Deep in my gut, I know that most laws are written with built-in protections to avoid being exploited beyond the original intention. At the same time, there is an inherent right granted by the law — and two attempts per year for a massive audience is still a LOT of work that just magically appeared out of thin air because an upset player with an agenda isn't happy with the current state of the game. If there is an inherent time limit to GDPR requests, and if BHVR isn't able to keep up—I believe they would be fined accordingly. Part of me wonders if that was Choy's true intention — to clog the system with requests so the developers have to act or "pay" a cost.

I have alot of things to say about Choy (Most of them negative) and him using the layoffs as a reason for his actions feels less like a justification and more like an excuse to act the way he does while still being able to come off with his self-righteous holier-than-thou attitude.

Honestly, bhvr should just either show people's personal mmr or deal with Choy in whatever way they can, because the longer this goes on, the more of a circus this is turning into.

Exactly. Most people associate horror with slashers, monsters, ghost and demons. That is what a majority of the game is. Trickster is a pretty boy with some blood on him, but when you compare, he is no different than Ghostface. Both have stalked, killed and tortured others for some kind of sadistic pleasure. The only difference is their style. Trickster is made if bright popping colors while Ghostface is shrouded in black and gray yet both are starved for the spotlight.

Something having bright popping colors doesn't exclude it from being horror, Trickster least of all since he's part of a horror subgenre where the outward appearance isn't the focus of the horror, same subgenre that Psycho, Hostel and American Psycho falls under as well.

DBD stopped being mainly about conventional horror tropes and ideas when it started expanding outside that area many years ago to explore more of the horror genre as a whole. Conventional horror is anything but a majority in the game at this point.

Numbers dont lie. 10 million player base in 2020 to 6 million for today. almost 50% and a lot of more incentives, licenced, game modes and still less number than years ago. This game is boring and sazonal now and devs dont care about.

Of course a lore accurate nemsis cannot truly exist in dbd but i find him to be the 2nd most boring use of an ip in the game. The first is xeno. DBD balance is important but i hope stuff like i mentioned could be added to him. We got killers like Dracula and vecna who have multiple stuff going on in their powers so be nice if the bare minimum nemesis gets a sprint added one day. Yeah the flame throwers are not a direct comparison but its the closest and would be cool if zombies were a little like Resident evil 2 remake where they bite you and are dangerous unlike dbd where they look like TWD weak zombies

Of course a lore accurate nemsis cannot truly exist in dbd but i find him to be the 2nd most boring use of an ip in the game. The first is xeno

Hot take, but imo, the only thing Xeno really need is a wall crawling ability and a facehugger as an aesthetic for the hooks that progresses alongside with the Survivors based on what their respective stage they enter when one is put on a hook, otherwise i think Xeno is perfect as it is gameplay wise.

DBD balance is important but i hope stuff like i mentioned could be added to him. We got killers like Dracula and vecna who have multiple stuff going on in their powers so be nice if the bare minimum nemesis gets a sprint added one day.

Giving him his sprint wouldn't be a problem in of itself, as long as the abilitiy is restricted in some way or form when implementing it just like how all other movement killer's powers are restricted in some way or form to balance them out, It could work fine enough in game.

Yeah the flame throwers are not a direct comparison but its the closest

Not that i agree that Nemmy should have any of his weapons in DBD, but i think that if we ever were to give him any of his weapons, his flamethrower from the RE3 remake would be the best and safest option to choose from. Both thematically and balance wise.

and would be cool if zombies were a little like Resident evil 2 remake where they bite you and are dangerous unlike dbd where they look like TWD weak zombies

Regarding zombies, i'm gonna repeat what i wrote to OP, i'd rather have the Flashbang perk (although slighty tweaked to only blind zombies and not Nemesis himself) be implemented as part of Nemesis' kit as an item Survivors can find in crates that are scattered around the map to use against Zombies. It's something i would prefer having over some type of RE knock down interaction for the Zombies like you suggested.

As for the zombie bite bit that you talked about. If what you're suggesting is to have zombies be exactly like they are in RE2 where they grab and bite the playable character, then it would have to be balanced according to the number of zombies and how much faster they would potentially be, so that them holding any of the Survivor players immobile while biting them doesn't end up being too gameplay disruptive since it's still a PVP and not a PVE Single Player game like RE.

    -

I think the best way to give Nemesis more stuff while still balancing him is to change him in a way to (in concept) make him to Oni lke what Ghostface is to Myers. Make them similar but still different from each other.

    My idea is this.

    • Nemesis have a max of 4 Mutation Levels in total and he starts at Mutation Level 1.
    • He have at least 3 additional abilities and for the sake of an example, let's say those abilities is his sprint, his vault leap and his zombie mutation interaction (you know the one in RE3 remake where he holds his hand around a zombie's head and mutates them.)
    • Before Nemesis can use any of his additional abilities, he needs to use his tentacles to level up his Mutation Level at least once to make them available.
    • Everytime Nemesis uses one of his additional abilities, he consumes a certain amount of the % from his current Mutation Level until he goes back down to the previous Mutation Level he was on, which he can keep doing until he returns back to Mutation Level 1 again. (Like for example, let's say Nemesis has reached Mutation Level 4 and uses his sprint, he consumes 50% of the current Mutation Level as a cost for using the ability and if he uses it again, he'll deplet the entirety of Mutation Level 4 and go back down to Mutation Level 3.)
    • Nemesis' tentacle range increase when leveling up would still be a thing, but it won't increase any further past level 3.
  • @Santanemesis said:

Isn't there a perk that make flashbangs?

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3870994#Comment_3870994

Roar animation is already added in albeit a weak one. It occassionally happens when nemesis hit survivors with his fist not his tentacle.

Yes, but i'd rather we incorporated either that or make something similar to it as a part of Nemmy's kit in order to deal with zombies if we start giving Nemmy alot more zombies, instead of bringing in things like combat knives or hand grenades like in RE to actively kill them with it.

I hope BHVR are in good relationship with resident evil still. Be cool to get a green light in making nemesis actually cool. Xeno has a similar ability + slowdown with the flame throwers and has mobility. I know they won’t do much but it be so cool to make nemesis not boring.

Boring is subjective and i'm pretty sure that unless Nemesis is portrayed in how the video in the bottom portrays him as, there will always be people who don't think it's good enough.

I don't think Survivors should be able to directly attack the zombies, if anything i would prefer if they just made flashbangs part of Nemmy's kit as something that Survivors can pick from crates that are scattered around the map.

As far as Xeno goes, the difference is that Xeno's mobility only exist in the tunnels to get around the map. It's not really similar to Nemmy's as it cannot sprint + attack on the map like Nemesis can in RE3 and bringing that aspect into his DBD gameplay would (unless heavily restricted in some way or form) be way too strong of an ability for repeated use during chases.

I also don't think flame turrets is comparable to things such as direct handheld weaponry for offense use, since the turrets functionality is solely for that of defense since the killer has to approach it first for it to activate.

I agree that Nemesis needs more, if you play RE3 Remake and then switch to DBD. You will see an absolute tonal shift.

    RE3 Remake Nemesis:

    • Nemesis has a diverse arsenal, including a rocket launcher, flamethrower, and his iconic tentacle attacks.
    • His movements are fluid and dynamic, allowing him to leap or burst through environments to chase the player.
    • Nemesis is highly aggressive, relentless, and terrifying. His AI is designed to pressure the player constantly, making him a daunting adversary. He dynamically stalks Jill and adapts to her movements, creating an intense cat-and-mouse experience.

    DBD Nemesis:

    • His primary power is the tentacle strike, which infects survivors with the T-Virus, slowing them down momentarily and making them vulnerable.
    • The inclusion of AI-controlled zombies is unique, but they are often considered inconsistent and lack the menacing presence of Nemesis himself.
    • His behavior in DBD is constrained by the game mechanics. He feels less like a relentless bioweapon and more like a strategic killer who relies on specific abilities (tentacle strikes and zombies). The pacing of DBD also dilutes his "unstoppable" persona, as survivors can outmaneuver him through game mechanics like pallets and loops.

While everyone agrees that Nemesis in DBD CANNOT be the Nemesis in RE3 Remake, it is beyond clear to anyone who plays those games that DBD Nemesis is lacking. I voted for Nemesis to be next in line for reworks after Twins or Freddy for this reason.

bHVR did a fine job, but I think its time for them to reopen that chapter and do more.

Here is a list of improvements that I think would really spice up his gameplay.

1 His ability to level up is great, it increases the threat as the match goes on. But currently the max potential is reached at like 4 gens and Nemesis is only slightly more oppressive. Also his level up sound is weirdly out of place, I think his new level up should be him screaming at the top of his lungs, even if it takes a small animation to do so, then give him haste right after to catch up.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/HJKH85IP498V/sequence-02-copy-1.gif

2 His levels also need to be improved, Nemesis needs to gain mutation by doing actions through the match and each level needs to do more than just increase his whip. I am thinking like a built in FireUp to do all actions faster and faster, even running faster at the end of the match.

3 He needs a way to combo m1 attacks continued, make it a mutation level if need be.

4 after a mutation level has been reached, the nemesis should have temporary increased speed and attack speed.

5 The AI of the zombies need vast improvements OR he needs more of them, and they need a running animation for that special addon that makes them go super fast.

6 His footsteps should be louder and slightly shake the environment for Survivors.

7 He needs to scream/ groan at S.T.A.R.S. members.

8 He needs an equipable mori, that is him pulling out a rocket launcher from a box and then just blowing up the survivor.

9 some of the later levels in mutation should via an addon allow nemesis to break walls and dropped pallets by walking into them during mutation temporary buff.

I hope BHVR is inspired to give Nemesis more than just an addon pass, because Nemesis needs to be an unforgetable Killer, imo.

Ain't no way bhvr is gonna do all of those things, especially number 3.

Really? I thought All-Kill was one of the strongest concepts DBD's brought to the table in a long time, he's very well written imo.

Same, i personally consider All-Kill to be a contender for being one of the top 5 best chapters overall.

  • It doesn't even matter anymore at this point, as it's only a matter of time before BHVR starts bringing non-horror collab slop content into DBD similar to what other games such as COD, R6:S & Fortnite have done with their collabs. As evident by how BHVR have been deviating more and more from keeping their collabs as horror as possible over the years.

As far as Vader goes, Star Wars is arguably horror-adjacent at most from times and there are so many other characters from the franchise that are infinitely more fitting in a horror game than what Vader is, but of course knowing bhvr, they'd rather prioritize recognizibility over compatibility in order to maximize sales.

Regardless of what you or anyone else thinks about Trickster and Skull Merchant, they at least are both part of a horror subgenre each, which are the main focus for both of their characters, where as horror-adjacent content only have some horror elements to them that are not the main focus or non-horror content having none at all.

Developers aren't the ones who made a regional lock on these skins.

It's the license holder Junji Ito or Japanese government forcing Junji to do so.

And it's definitely not the racial discrimination, I would assume. (Since I don't know the reason of the locks in the first place)

There's a more likely chance that Crunchyroll is the one responsible, since they're part of the collab and how they region lock animes on their own site.

  • I wouldn't mind if it stayed this time around.

On Chinese social media platforms, the official Dead by Daylight account released a trailer a few days before the skin's launch, and the video even had Chinese subtitles. However, it was quickly deleted. I suspect that the collaboration wasn't initially meant to be banned, but something happened later that led to the ban of the crossover skins.

The entire thing confuses me honestly and i don't really know what the reason behind it could even be.

    • BHVR have no reason to region lock anything anywhere (especially not countries with big video game markets such as China) since it wouldn't financially benefit them at all. Also not to mention how they have basically stated when asked about it, that it's not their fault for why the collab content is region locked in the first place and how they would love to bring it to everyone if they could.
    • Likewise with Junji Ito himself and how his work in general isn't banned in the countries that are affected by said region lock for the collab content in Dead by Daylight.
    • Some blame the Japanese government for the region-lock, but then that begs the question. Why they would region lock countries such as Ukraine, when they've sent aid over to them due to the conflict they have with Russia?

Fact that a chinese version of the collab trailer exist tells me that you may be correct about how something must have changed last minute, although it might have been an honest mistake on BHVR's part for posting it when they probably weren't supposed to, especially when considering it's not the first time they've done something similar in the past with cosmetics, that they quickly changed not long after.

But like i said before, nobody really knows anything at this point in time and until someone comes out and officially confirms anything, we can pretty much only speculate on the reason why.

Personally, i suspect Crunchyroll might be the reason behind it since they're involved with this collaboration, but that's just speculation.

  • Because they've been region-locked.

Nobody knows the reason behind why it is, so it's anyone's guess really.

Although i don't think neither BHVR nor Junji ito himself is at fault nor the reason behind it.

  • @Grigerbest said:

We could go deeper and read Japanese laws to see which group of countries are restricted or sanctioned. But apparently: I don't have the access to the sanctioned countries by the Japan (Which is Ironic) "access denied".

If this collab in Identity V isn't restricted for the listed countries, that just confirms that this is a Junji Ito's specific desires to restrict them in DBD. I don't think these countries are sanctioned or blocked (but Russia), by the Japanese government.

In order to not make any guesses, we just need an official confirmation by the Junji Ito, or developers. But I doubt they would do any commentary on such things.

    It still begs the question.

    • If the japanese government is responsible, why would they target multiple specific countries that they have no reason to target for the most part, Ukraine especially? Not to mention how none of the affected countries' governments have banned Ito's work in of itself.
    • If Junji Ito himself is responsible, why would he even allow the collab skins in IDV to not be region locked in the first place, even more so why he would even license his work to netease (which is a chinese company) to even bring his IP into their game, which is played mostly in china?
    • If bhvr themselves are responsible, why would they write the following bit in a longer statement related to the region-lock? ''We are always committed to providing game content to all players, but this is not always possible.''

None of it really makes sense why any of them would be responsible, so it's impossible to say which one of them it actually could be, although it's also possible crunchyroll could be the reason for the region-lock, but that's just speculation.

  • @Grigerbest said:

I don't know about other government decisions making in regards video-games of theirs, but I've read the article about Junji Ito specifically "asked" the devs to region block these cosmetics for these countries: Russia, Serbia, China, Romania, Ukraine and Israel. He doesn't want to sell the outfits in these countries.

While we can say: "Oh whatever, it's just a skins.", but it could be the sign of what to expect from the license holders in the future. The guy previously on this topic said: "We don't have Castlevania in China", the question is: What's next? FNAF is going to be blocked? Any other future licensed characters and skins are blocked for many countries?

All these restrictions such as Junji Ito made just looks like a genuine hate gesture towards ordinary players, like why is he blocking cosmetics and inflicting his personal hate towards these countries through the restrictions? And because of his decision: developers of DBD now taking all the anger of the players, because many ordinary players doesn't aware that BHVR has nothing to do with the restrictions.

Junji Ito made a clear statement: "I don't like you guys from "listed countries", you will not be able to purchase the skins". If this is not a clear act of discrimination and disrespect, I don't know what it is.

The true fans of the license will be the judges for this guy.

If it really was Ito who's responsible for the region lock, it would be weird considering that the Junji Ito collab cosmetics in IDV aren't region locked.

  • Apart from the lack of Gyo & Uzumaki based cosmetic, this is the second best collab collection this game have had so far imo.

  • I would care more about Freddy's portrayal in the game if it actually was Freddy and not some discount version of the character from the remake.

  • Reminds me of when people said same- if not more about Elden Ring back when it came out.

  • I don't think there's going to be anything on new year's eve itself, more likely bhvr meant that we can expect more news in the new year in general.

I think the problem with pixel is that he bases his opinion about the lore around the fact if he likes the character in the first place. I also don't like his opinion on dredge's lore. "Cult being an obvious cult and people still go into it?" have he seen people in real life? Have he seen the type of ######### people will believe for no reason?

Also Dredge can be fog and not want his flesh to be injured, because he needs it to attack survivors. It's kind of obvious but there are also many explanations you can create that work too, Pixel is just too lazy to come up with any of them. To be fair you can't care for everything but I don't really think he should present it like a fact when you can easily counter it, especially that his whole videos are subjective.

Completely forgot about his Dredge video, it will never not be ironic to me how despite him saying in the video that it's just his opinion, he still ends up presenting it in a way that makes it sounds like he's presenting some objective facts.

Keep in mind the Entity does have plant like/organic-like elements to it.

That's where the 'hallowed blight' came from, as it's said the entity would undergo a yearly 'purge' of some kind which causes it to become blighted and sprout the pustula flowers. From these flowers is where the serum is distilled and created by Talbot aka The Blight himself. This has since stopped since that series of events has concluded but it makes you wonder what would cause the Entity to need to 'purge' itself like that, almost like it was infected with a disease or something.

The serum also reanimates the dead into zombie-like creatures, as seen with the blighted rat/crow addons for example.

I always saw it as no different than when people need to "purge" their excrement from their body when going to the toilet.

After all, if the realm is The Entity's entire body and consuming people's souls and emotions is it eating to sustain itself, then the blight purge is probably the equivalent to it taking a dump.

yeah but I think it's more the issue with the people who didn't read the lore. Personally I had some problems with his interpretation of singularity lore. mainly I didn't like how he acted like singularity was a killer robot made to be good at it when it's clear it wasn't programmed to harm the crew (see what I did there). his mistakes are human mistakes and that's the point. unlike for example am who was a war machine with sole purpose of killing the enemy. I can't say that about others 'cause I didn't read jonah and nurse tomes 'cause I didn't finish them in game and forgot to do it on wiki.

My problem with his Singularity video is also with his interpretation of Singularity as well, but more so is actually about his Gabriel video and how he starts pissing and moaning about how a female background character in someone else's story being treated like a background character instead of getting main character treatment is somehow bad.

Claims that it's portraying her as a damsel in distress just because she doesn't save anyone like the rest of the background characters does at least once (who mind you) all ######### dies in the end along with her regardless.
    _

With Nurse, he outright claims that she was character assassinated/retconned from her base lore, stating that her base lore portrayed her as a caring person who went insane because of the inhumane treatment that the patients at the asylum suffered by because of the staff working there, only for the tome to do a 180 and suddenly make her believe in eugenics for no apparent reason.

Problem with it is that this is all just complete bias talk on his part because the tome story didn't live up to his (and other people who was in the same boat as him) own interpretation of the base lore. A base lore mind you that was already incredibly vague and barebone to begin with.

I've read Nurse's tome lore multiple times and there is nothing in it that can't be explained, linked back to the base lore or refuted as to why it's neither a retcon nor an actual character assassination of Nurse's portrayal in the base lore.

    _

With Jonah, there are quite a few problems, however the one that annoys me the most is that Pixel calls him a war criminal because he bombed civilians and acts like Jonah intentionally did it, while portraying the rebels as the good guys. Not to mention how he should have taken the money from the CIA instead of the rebels for the families that suffered from his mistake.

Problem here is that pixel completely leaves out the fact that Jonah was deceived by the rebels who sent out the decoy code to begin with.

Also the fact that Pixel calls him a war criminal when Jonah's action cannot be considered a war crime. As for it to be considered as one, Jonah would have required to have intentionally wanted to hit the civilians in the first place, however because his actions was unintentional since he got tricked, it legally wouldn't be considered as one.

he was designed to spam, zone and bait his shot to be effective.

my proposal to rework his iri coin to decrease zooming time by 40% but put a drawback that decreases the harpoon spear travel time by 60%. this would make his projectile a 400% m/s from 1000% m/s projectile making it slower then a unwinded huntress hatchet.

Exactly why his power is unhealthy if that is his supposedly only way and your proposal is irrelevant since it's only related to his iri addon rather than his base kit.

In the end, bhvr is not gonna bring it back and for that, i'm happy knowing that.

it doesn't matter what qol change you make for deathslinger. they have 0 impact on his power-level. heck, you can make all 20 add-on for deathslinger base-kit and he'll still be ineffective. at this point, it is about making deathslinger be less bad as possible.

We do not need buff + nerf bvhr bad balancing, aka demogorgon portal balancing. it's buff or nothing. you either buff character or you change nothing. so far, bvhr is changing nothing for slinger so there is nothing to talk about for him.

Disagree, also if spamming it was the only way his power could supposedly have an impact, then the power itself was never healthy to begin with.

I'll take improving his other aspects any day over bringing back old issues.

Smoe's already done a good job explaining why none of the "Entity Destoyers" are actually up to par, so I'll leave that alone, but the answer to why people actually believe these things can be chalked up to multiple things, all of which kind of lead into each other:

    • A refusal to actually read the lore themselves coupled with a lack of critical thinking.
    • The community's incredible ability to take any an all theories at complete face value and accept them as canon (Dredge being a miniature Entity or Pyramid Head causing damage to the Entity being the two big ones I can think of) BECAUSE they refuse to read the lore themselves, which then leads into them not reading the lore because they think they already know it.
    • Content creators who basically advertise themselves as "lore experts" who have a habit of adding their own spin on the lore instead of actually telling it how it is, which not only leads to complete those nonsense theories being taken as pure fact due to their reach and influence, but also leads to misinformation surrounding characters (which can also be genuinely dangerous in the case of Jonah and Nurse) because people DON'T READ THE LORE THEMSELVES AND THEN CALL THEMSELVES EXPERTS AND REFUSE TO READ IT. Pixel's probably the worst offender (he's definitely the biggest creator), but I don't think ANY of them are actually reliable.

Basically, the people who actually care about the lore get drowned out by those who only care about the sparknotes version, which leads to fact and theory getting all jumbled up, capitalized on by content creators for clout because they KNOW that people will go to them first and actually read for themselves never.

This is how we end up with stupid theories like the Entity being terrified of MYERS of all people when he's pretty bottom of the barrel in terms of power, or Pyramid Head being a parasite who tortures the Entity, or cosmic-level Sadako, or Dredge being a juvenile version of the Entity, and I could honestly just write an entire novel with how many of these there are.

Honestly, dbd lore content creators is probably my least favorite part of this community.

Pixel especially is someone who i take great issue with due to several of his videos spreading his own bias about the lores he covers, as he's clearly presenting his biased view on said lores in a way that portrays them as if they're the objectively correct ways of interpreting those lores.

His Nurse, Pyramid Head, Singularity & Jonah videos being the worst offenders of the bunch. Honorable mention goes to his Vittorio video.

it's funny because pixel himself doesn't believe that a single killer can actually harm the entity and the whole pyramid head thing was, as he himself stated in the video, just what he thinks should be the actual reason of why pyramid head is here. Which just adds to the ignorance people have in dead by daylight's community

This is the problem with popular opinions/sentiments when they're either based on community sentiments alone or misinformation.

You can tell as many people as you want why those sentiments are incorrect and why what you're telling them is actually the correct information related to a subject and not the popular sentiment that people commonly believe or tells others. Regardless of how many you end up convincing, it will never be enough to change the popular perception completely as people will either continue to still believe old information regardless of any evidence you provide them or they just regugitate old information because they haven't learnt anything else about the subject in all this time.

Trust me, i've tried repeatedly to spread correct information to change certain popular sentiments. Sadako in DBD being from both the novels and the movies is one of those popular sentiment examples that i try to correct whenever i see it.

You're talking around buffing the killer in the most obvious, sane ways. You think you're gonna fix the killer through qol and add-on changes? The devs already did that. It took him from D- to D+ tier, because if a survivor doesn't give you an angle or simply reacts to your shot, you physically can't get them. There's no reason for y'all to fight so hard against getting his nerfs reverted, or argue against several several changes suggested to make him better.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3862425#Comment_3862425

Because you think people should just be able to "react" to anything the killer can do, like the slower scamper Chucky change they did before they got rid of it altogether, and then his most recent change. Everyone saying, "Good changes! Good changes!" because it makes him, the killer, slower and easier to react to. It's the exact same case with Spirit and Deathslinger's nerfs. It sounds like you don't even have a refute to instascope Deathslinger. You cite fear of casual complaints more than anything of substance. How is any buff you're gonna give him gonna matter if he can't aim good and hit his shots? He's got Huntress's shot ready-up time, with about 1/30th of the hitbox.

Because you think people should just be able to "react" to anything the killer can do, like the slower scamper Chucky change they did before they got rid of it altogether, and then his most recent change.

People should have enough time to react to when things are about to happen, it's basic game design logic.

Also what slower scamper change? Chucky's scamper speed remained the same until manual scamper was removed entirely, after which his scamper speed was made faster.

Everyone saying, "Good changes! Good changes!" because it makes him, the killer, slower and easier to react to. It's the exact same case with Spirit and Deathslinger's nerfs.

People like you would have killed this game, if you had things your way and the fact that you even entertain the idea that Spirit's nerf wasn't completely justified just proves that.

There's a reason why Spirit was as high up as she was on people's tierlists in terms of strongest killers in the game back then and why so many people complained about her for so long until she got nerfed.

It sounds like you don't even have a refute to instascope Deathslinger. You cite fear of casual complaints more than anything of substance.

I literally cited the fact that Deathslinger could spam his zoom speed with no consequence for easy chase wins. Multiple times in fact. How is that not a refute?

Fact that so many people took issue with Deathslinger's zoom speed to begin with just proves that the majority of people playing DBD are in fact casual players and not comp players.

Also you talk about skill in your other reply, if anything Deathslinger's change makes landing shots with him more skillful compared to before.

How is any buff you're gonna give him gonna matter if he can't aim good and hit his shots? He's got Huntress's shot ready-up time, with about 1/30th of the hitbox.

You know why he didn't get any buffs to his other stats back then? It's because his zoom speed was as fast as it was, that it balanced out the other aspects of his kit. Now that his old zoom speed is gone, buffing other parts of his kit can be justified.

Having his other aspects buffed would make missing his shots less punishing without being able to cheese chases like he could before.

  • Can't say i share your sentiment, Toba is my third favorite map.

It could be. Nothing is impossible ;)

Of course there's no guarantee of success. In fact, everything you mention here is somewhat a given. So I agree?

There's plenty reason to migrate over, are you serious? Not everyone cares about rewards earned or even time invested. If the experience is better, I believe plenty of people would move over. My issue would be the player base split. (Not an us vs them jibe lol)

If the experience is better, I believe plenty of people would move over.

I very, very much doubt so. It's no different from moving onto a new asym game altogether and the same reasons why majority of people in DBD haven't migrated onto any other existing asym games also applies to any potential sequels for DBD as well. (Despite how other people have claimed other games would kill dbd and have waves of DBD player move over.)

Not everyone cares about rewards earned or even time invested.

No, but alot, and i mean ALOT of people do.

Between Sunk-Cost-Fallacy, gameplay being different and potentially worse than what we have now, people having to give up on their progress for a new game and so much more. There's plenty of reasons why people wouldn't make the switch.

DBD was not only one of a kind back in the day when the asym market was much smaller, but it had the right momentum back then to get to where it is now. If you create what is essentially a new asym game with DBD in the current asym space, it's way more likely to end up like so many other asym games that had their 15 minutes of fame before the playercount dwindled significantly or just died out entirely. (especially since both games would be competiting with each other.)

Realistically, DBD 2 would more likely join DeathGarden in the grave.

  • @Spare_Them_Mori_Me said:

Enter Dead by Daylight II. Its… just time.

No it isn't, never will be.

There's no guarantee a sequel would be a success, not to mention the potential risk if the game ends up being worse one way or another, especially if the gameplay isn't the same or better than the existing dbd.

There's also the fact that people who already play DBD would have no reason to migrate over to the sequel since all the content is on the existing game and there is no guarantee that it'll transfer over to the sequel, same with people's progress.

Then majorly buff other parts of his kit

    Faster reel speed

    Longer harpoon range

    Faster reload

    115 speed

I'm perfectly fine with buffing other parts of him, it's solely just quickscope slinger that i'm strongly opposed to bringing back in any way, shape or form.

This is another thing y'all don't understand. "Spam." The killer cannot just take tons of misses or fake outs, no matter how quicky they recover, and not be punished for it. If they're still winning after that point, it's on you. And you seem to want the survivor to be in a favorable, max value position no matter what. If they stop dodging, the Deathslinger can shoot, and if he's shooting they can counter by dodging. It's interesting that way, because like unnerfed Spirit, it's all about whoever can make the best read/mindgame, like you see in fighting games. We call those skillful in those games, yes? So why doesn't that apply here? Why is a killer not allowed that same potential, assuming the survivors have equal counterplay, which they do?

What you have now is unequal counterplay. If the killer zooms in, they lose time before they shoot which allows the survivors to dodge, even if the shot was spot-on. Then, if you miss your shot, you go on a lengthy cooldown, and then your reload slow, at least without add-ons. Add-ons shouldn't be there to bandaid fix bad design, especially when they don't even truly solve the issue. Green Tin Can and Warden's Keys are all I run, but I still feel punished, more than I should on misses, for how difficult it is to land a shot. The buffs the devs gave him on his "movement speed while aiming" add-ons are not enough. It doesn't solve what I've brought up in the slightest. This isn't even diving into the inconsistently small shot hitbox, which alone justifies this killer's buff.

I have to wonder, what's with the pushback to a Deathslinger buff, even one similar to what I've suggested? Are y'all afraid that Deathslinger will suddenly be Nurse/Blight tier? I doubt it, because again, he didn't see play in tourney or high MMR at his strongest, and had a low kill rate. If you're gonna argue that that version of him wasn't fair, "Because the killer could down me," every killer in this game has had that potential. He just has a (slightly) more direct approach, unlike Unknown who relies on tricky bounce shots, or Singularity who relies on los in scanning, or Skull Merchant who has to scan you three times. What's the harm in buffing a weaker killer for a short time anyway? We all know the devs won't make it permanent if people like you levy enough complaints. And those shall be quantity over quality, as usual. That's the real skill issue here.

This is another thing y'all don't understand. "Spam." The killer cannot just take tons of misses or fake outs, no matter how quicky they recover, and not be punished for it. If they're still winning after that point, it's on you.

Except he absolutely could take tons of fake outs exactly because of how unpunishing his old zoom speed was to use, he could simply just spam it without any form of consequence. Let's not pretend otherwise.

And you seem to want the survivor to be in a favorable, max value position no matter what. If they stop dodging, the Deathslinger can shoot, and if he's shooting they can counter by dodging.

I want fair gameplay for both sides and if something puts either the Survivors or the Killer into a lose-lose situations, then it's unhealthy gameplay and needs to be changed in some way or form for the better and it also applies to perks too.

The only way Survivors could prevent Deathslinger from hitting them majority of times was breaking LOS like with all range killers, as dodging wasn't reliable majority of times if the Deathslinger knew what he was doing (unless Survivors had bot levels of reflexes), which applies again to all range killers, but especially to deathslinger back then.

It's interesting that way, because like unnerfed Spirit, it's all about whoever can make the best read/mindgame

Ah yes, because Deathslinger players resorting to either of the following strategies is such interesting mindgaming. /s

    A. Fake out every now and then to cause Survivors to try and dodge and lose distance everytime they do so until Slinger gets close enough to m1 them. If the Survivor doesn't try to dodge the fake outs, they just get speared instead. Either way, Survivors are punished no matter what.

    B. Fake out constantly until a Survivor is forced towards a window or a narrow path where they can't dodge.

    _

Even with your Spirit example: If a gameplay element forces players into what is essentially a 50/50 coin toss that's out of their control, which determines whether the Survivor gets injured/loses a chase or not. Then that's not mind gaming if the Survivor wins that, that's just luck, pure and simple.

It's nothing more than just a guessing game that's 99% out of the Survivor's control in regards to the outcome.

Which is also why Spirit was so high up on alot of people's tierlists for a long time until she was changed.

like you see in fighting games. We call those skillful in those games, yes? So why doesn't that apply here? Why is a killer not allowed that same potential, assuming the survivors have equal counterplay, which they do?

    1. It wasn't equal counterplay back then with how fast his zoom speed was.
    2. Because DBD is not a fighting game, it is not like any other game or genre and cannot be balanced the same way as them. Asym games that have tried to do so have either been abandoned or doesn't exist anymore.

What you have now is unequal counterplay. If the killer zooms in, they lose time before they shoot which allows the survivors to dodge, even if the shot was spot-on. Then, if you miss your shot, you go on a lengthy cooldown, and then your reload slow, at least without add-ons.

I've seen people play as Deathslinger fine against decent teams even after the change to his zoom speed, i've also played against those type of Slinger players every now and then.

All the change did was weed out those who wanted to abuse his zoom speed to force Survivors into spots for easy unavoidable shots such as windows or narrow paths.

His reload speed addons should be made base kit now that his zoom speed isn't as egregiously forgiving as it was before.

Add-ons shouldn't be there to bandaid fix bad design, especially when they don't even truly solve the issue.

Which is why his cooldown reduction addons should be made base kit to compensate for the change to his zoom speed reduction change.

Green Tin Can and Warden's Keys are all I run, but I still feel punished, more than I should on misses, for how difficult it is to land a shot. The buffs the devs gave him on his "movement speed while aiming" add-ons are not enough.

Of course what he have currently isn't enough, i'm perfectly fine with buffing him in other aspects as long as it doesn't involve bringing back quickscope slinger.

Also, it's not that difficult to hit Survivors with Deathslinger after enough practice.

It doesn't solve what I've brought up in the slightest. This isn't even diving into the inconsistently small shot hitbox, which alone justifies this killer's buff.

The terror radius revert might be justified, but the zoom speed revert? no, not even a little bit.

I have to wonder, what's with the pushback to a Deathslinger buff, even one similar to what I've suggested?

I only take issue with your quickscope suggestion, the terror radius one i'm indifferent to, however it would not be even remotely close to what Deathslinger's quickscope was, especially since the majority of people's ire with the killer originally came from how easy and forgivable his zoom speed was to use.

Are y'all afraid that Deathslinger will suddenly be Nurse/Blight tier? I doubt it, because again, he didn't see play in tourney or high MMR at his strongest, and had a low kill rate.

I'm not gonna go into just how stupidly boring comp DBD even is to begin with and how the idea of balancing the game either around that or high level plays would be a big mistake. This comment is already long enough as it is.

It doesn't matter if something isn't used in tournies or at extremely high level plays, you don't need something to be at Nurse & Blight levels of strength for it to be unhealthy for the game.

If you're gonna argue that that version of him wasn't fair, "Because the killer could down me," every killer in this game has had that potential. He just has a (slightly) more direct approach

I'm arguing the killer wasn't fair because his power was too forgiving to use and abuse as freely as people wanted to during chases.

unlike Unknown who relies on tricky bounce shots, or Singularity who relies on los in scanning, or Skull Merchant who has to scan you three times. What's the harm in buffing a weaker killer for a short time anyway?

I'll tell you what the harm in bringing back quickscope slinger would be. You would bring back the same strategy that people abused the living daylight out of and caused floods of daily complaints on the forum about it. We genuinely do not need to bring that back on here, ever.

and to repeat myself, just because something isn't top tier levels in terms of strength, doesn't mean that it can't be unhealthy for the game.

We all know the devs won't make it permanent if people like you levy enough complaints. And those shall be quantity over quality, as usual. That's the real skill issue here.

Good, they shouldn't make such a change in the first place when it's an unhealthy one to begin with.

My point with belmont and the whip still stands tho. Also there are other killers that joined the realm from their free will. I still think that the only way we can confirm someone defeating the entity is if we would know if we can even defeat the entity. And the closest to that we have devs confirming they won't deconfirm fan theories about alan wake. That's literally the best we got and I still see people acting like it's an actual confirmation of their theories. I can't actually imagine dbd's realm being just a part of dark place true, it just doesn't make sense for bhvr to throw their entire lore like that away for a licensed character.

And thanks for the clarification about Sadako.

Thing to keep in mind is that we don't fully know everything about The Entity itself, so we cannot accurately estimate how powerful it is in comparison to other characters. It is simply just an assumption that Dracula would stand a decent chance against The Entity given the nature of his character and his powers, however since the devs intentionally keep the full extend of The Entity's powers and limits vague to a certain extent, any form of power scaling becomes impossible to accurately do.

As far as Alan Wake goes, his presence in DBD takes place at some unspecified point in time during his 13 years of being trapped in the dark place and given that he doesn't have the clicker nor any papers for his typewriter that he finds at the campfire at the end of his tome cinematic. There's no way he could ever defeat The Entity, at most he would find a way to escape back to his writer cabin in the dark place, but that's about it.

Also one of the devs straight up told people on stream that they'll let the community determine if Alan created his own pocket version of DBD in an attempt to escape the dark place or if The Entity abducted him like everyone else.

You're right with The Dark Place not being the same place as The Realm, because aside from the fact that both places function entirely different from one another and how one is controlled by a lovecraftian being while the other is not, there is nothing that could prove it to actually be the case. Unless it got stated to be the case in-game, it's all pretty much based on speculation. Nothing more and nothing less.

I mean yeah such grain of salt is needed but only if it was the main topic and not a small part of my arguments. Also I didn't really created an greater explanation on how lorewise it looks for those killers and focused mainly on evidence so I give you a point for creativity. But I don't agree with Dracula as he can be killed by a belmont so entity could just give the whip back to him if dracula wanted to do something more. Other than that I don't really know how powerful Dracula is but I don't think he's an Elder God power level type of character but I agree that he could potentially escape entity's realm.

Also I forgot about lament configuration being used like it's nothing which is some actual evidence compared to what I said.

Also isn't Sadako actually from books? Because now that I check the teaser for Sadako it says "From the original story" and has name of the author of the book at the bottom with all the licensing stuff.

Aside from the that I agree with what you said.

Other than that I don't really know how powerful Dracula is but I don't think he's an Elder God power level type of character but I agree that he could potentially escape entity's realm.

Dracula is the Avatar of Chaos in the Castlevania universe, which is the eldritch personification of darkness, the antithesis of God and the source of Dracula's immense power. Chaos itself is linked to Dracula's castle which houses evils of all kinds, including death itself, who will seek to resurrect Dracula if he should fall.

I think it's fair to suggest that Dracula himself would stand a decent chance if he decided to square off against the spider god of the realm.

Also isn't Sadako actually from books? Because now that I check the teaser for Sadako it says "From the original story" and has name of the author of the book at the bottom with all the licensing stuff.

The teaser states the following and i quote ''A key piece of horror history is joining Dead by Daylight’s expansive roster. Prepare for Ringu to spread its curse across The Fog, with a new Chapter inspired by Kōji Suzuki’s novel and the original acclaimed film adaptation.'' Keyword here is inspired by, not based on.

Nothing in the Ring chapter itself ties back to novel apart from the movie adapation itself that the chapter is talking about, which is based on the novel in of itself. That's literally it as outside that, there is nothing else.

    • All the add-ons connects back to Ringu 1 & 2.
    • Yoichi himself only exist in the movie adaptation and his dbd lore is based on his lore of Ringu 1 & 2.
    • Sadako's lore is a direct recap of her origin story in Ringu 1, along with a ''here's how she end up in the realm'' being sprinkled ontop of it at the end of the recap.

It is completely based on the movie adaptation, if there is anything related to the novels, it isn't something i can find.

He needs his old terror radius and instascope back. People didn't like his old TR because combined with Monitor, it was smaller. God forbid killers strategize and combo between killer properties and perks.

They also didn't like his instascope because you "couldn't react to it." They miss the point. It's not about reacting; it's about being unpredictable. You dodge, dodge, then don't dodge, and that's when he takes his shot and misses because you mixed it up. This is the same idea for counterplay against Nurse, Huntress, and Spirit, but we saw how that worked out for Spirit. Notice how even when Deathslinger had instascope, his kill rate was low and was never seen in tournament, unlike the previously mentioned killers.

I do like the OP's suggestions above. They reflect having lots of experience on the killer, and having the killer's viability in mind. But I think unless he gets the instascope back, he's gonna stay extremely clunky, unviable, and not fun to play.

    Unpredictable my ass.

The majority of Deathslingers back then would just zoom spam constantly until they had either forced Survivors into a position where they would get hit no matter what or until Deathslinger got close enough to hit them with M1 because Survivors would lose distance everytime they attempted to dodge whenever he faked his aim. Rinse and repeat 90% of the time.

You could not go a day without someone on the forum complaining about it.

In fact, if people can't play Deathslinger without insta-scope, then that's a skill issue.

yes but dvveet leaked a lot of stuff that became true so not that major grain of salt. Also it's not the main part of my argument unlike stuff about myers, pyramid head and blight. There really isn't anything to disprove about pinhead to begin with since there is no evidence that pinhead is able to defeat the entity

I could write 3 paragraphs as to why exactly that much grain of salt is required for it, however to save time and not divert the topic of the thread any further than it already has, i'm just gonna say the following and leave it at that.

Dvveet have never leaked anything himself at all, others have always done it for him while all he did was post it for easy clout, as well as blindly believing and defending everything he's told by those same people like a complete bootlicker regardless of how true any of it was or wasn't that weren't renders or visual imagery of actual unreleased cosmetics or content from chapters.

    -

As far as the actual topic goes, here's my own POV on the matter.

    • Dracula (if he wanted to) is possibly the only killer at the moment who could potentially stand up to The Entity in due time when he has regained his strength from his last defeat at the hands of the Belmonts, however as demonstrated in-game by his lobby voicelines and even by one of the devs stating that the only reeason he's in the fog is because he wants to be there, he has no reason to do so.
    • I doubt Vecna would have won if he and The Entity tried to actually duke it out in his lore, instead of letting it take him, since he's in his arch-lich form and not in his god form like so many that i've seen claim him to be. In time however, he might be able to do so, but as of currently, not a chance.
    • Pinhead cannot return to hell because The Lament Configuration has been tampered with by The Entity as seen in-game, as no matter how many times it's interacted with, no gateway to hell is created. Same way his mori never shows Survivors end up in hell despite his mori voicelines. He is for all we know stuck in the realm at The Entity's mercy, just like most others in the lore. (Although The Cenobite's god Leviathan would be a different story entirely.)
    • Myers despite being evil incarnated is still human at the end of the day and if we go by the Halloween 2018 timeline, he can be weakened by simply just preventing him from killing anyone to power him up, to the point where he can be permanently killed.
    • Pyramid Head's existence relies solely on The Entity keep it's agreement with it. If The Entity suddenly doesn't need it's presence anymore, it will just go back to stop existing again like it was about to before it entered the realm. Also cages counts as hooks and carving the ground with POTD doesn't mean it harms The Entity directly, so there's that.
