  • Nothing has been officially announced yet. But so far there has been a Halloween event each year, so it's possible.

  • We don't necessarily ban just for farming. If it happens, it happens.

I would say you probably shouldn't make a guide for it though. The more people know about it, the more they're going to do it wrong and potentially ruin the game for others. Farming at someone else's expense (killer + survivor working together to farm another survivor off the hook), not letting people who don't want to farm leave, etc. Those types of things are bannable.

So TL;DR, I would say don't, just because people are going to do it wrong and that's going to end up in bans. Farming in the wild, meh, no biggy. But it's not something we'd want to promote.

  • That's pretty typical for new realms. More maps may be added down the line though.

Well sir, this is Dead By Daylight and unfortunately they do. So if you can't take it as I suggested above: fix your privacy settings.
Or report them and we'll deal with it.
  • Honestly, I don't think it matters. I have zero issues finding another survivor to heal me. Even back when I did run self care, someone would usually show up mid heal to finish it off faster. Two survivors can heal each other in the same time as they could heal themselves with self care.

So if anything, it's base heal speed we're talking about. I could go either way on increasing that.
  • quick questuon , does someone know if she can go to a far gen thats being worked on and grab people? i know she cant see while sprinting but you might be able to grab them if you guess where they are

You can. By default, she can move a little more than 32m with her power. So with some practice, you can actually appear behind someone on a generator without ever making a sound. It would be easier with monitor and abuse as well.

  • RE: Movement speed/lunge
4.4m/s base movement speed. Lunge follows suit, so it's like the huntress or hag.

    Carry on.

@Peanits can we get a little acm love?

I'm not really on the dev team (I work remotely), but I'll definitely bring this up.

  • Bruh, they literally both just came out on the PTB. I highly doubt anyone has them prestiged yet.

If someone had bloodpoints sitting around from a refund, they could blow through them in the PTB without losing them on live. So it's totally possible.
  • Take my upvote!

Calling something overpowered after playing against it once it not good feedback. Chances are it's not goinggto be as bad once you're used to it. There was a time when the Wraith was considered OP because people hadn't learn how to counter him.
  • I would assume (pure speculation, haven't had a chance to check, my internet is out) it would heal you anyway, because broken just prevents the heal interaction. Whether or not that would be intended, I have no clue. But I am curious, might be worth reporting as a bug if it does work.
  • In reality, what it does is replace the need for a survivor to save you once IF you already unhooked someone, and only if you haven't already been hooked. Which as we all know, there's probably at least two of them sprinting over in a death race for the unhook points anyway.

And to boot, you can't heal for 100 seconds, whereas another survivor could heal you up in 6 with We'll Make It.

It's not terrible, but the instances where it's actually going to make a difference are very slim.
  • LMAO, THEY HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH THEY JUST COMPLETLY FXCKED KILLERS BY DOING THAT.
I rarely if ever hit bloodlust 2 as killer, and I have never hit bloodlust 3 without specifically trying to go for it. Each time I've asked, everyone tells me the same. A single pallet is all it takes to reset bloodlust.

I'd hazard to say that anyone who regularly relies on bloodlust 2/3 to win chases is probably over-ranked and doesn't deserve a win, with the exception being some bad window RNG.

Try it though, that's what the PTB is for.
  • Report them. We'll review each case and deal out bans if necessary.
  • The PTB uses a copy of your live save. Anything you do on the PTB does not save or transfer back over to live, in case there's a massive bug that awards loads of points or breaks your save, for example.

You can hook from all sides though... am I right? That's why the vacuum moves the killer to the front of the hook... it would look wierd and dumb if the survivor ended up on the hook but the killer directly to the left of it... I mean the suction to the front of the hook looks ugly as well but either way unless they implement turning hooks it wouldn't look right..
You can, but the prompt is blocked if the destination area is blocked. Fortunately all killers have the ability to swing at survivors and force them away.
    "Force them away"
Yeah sure. If it's against a SWF team. There will sit 3 survivors at the hook. And by the time you hit them all, the survivor on your shoulder wiggled out.
If there are multiple, drop them and start swinging.
Works perfectly fine whenever people try it on me.

No killer would opt in. The game would quickly see a sharp decline in survivor players. KYF doesn’t appeal to people because you don’t earn anything and thus can’t level up.

Honestly, you just have to use your best judgment in the lobby and dodge if the team looks shady. That’s all you can really do.

There is a good reason why kyf doesn't grant you any rewards. So why should swf? When there is an unfair advantage.

Yes, because playing with you buddy as killer would allow you to farm points and grief others. SWF doesn't have that problem. That's just a red herring.
  • Well I guess because you asked nicely...

... is something nobody's going to say.
  • It takes two to make a hatch standoff. Personally, I find my time is worth more than the few thousand points I could get for it (on either side). You could very easily just move on to the next game and get way more points in the time you'd spend waiting for someone to make their move.

I'd definitely welcome some hatch changes though. I've always liked the idea of the killer being able to close the hatch, and then allow the survivor to re-open it after a ~10 second interaction or so. That way there's no standoff possible, but the survivor still has a chance.

  • Hag, when played right, is ridiculously OP.

  • First one, great idea, might not work well when multiple survivors are hooked. You could be far enough from one survivor but too close to another survivor, and that would make it awkward to tell who's in range.

Second one, I actually wouldn't want to see this. This would punish people for carefully going for an unhook. If you're sneaking in and the killer happens to come back and see whispers lit up, they're not going to leave (why would they? They know someone's there). All for punishing careless unhooks, but if someone's taking the time to make sure they aren't seen, I don't think they should be punished.

    SFTS: Yes.

Enduring: ¯_(ツ)_/¯ No strong feelings either way. I don't mind perks countering other perks, but I also don't think a perk should complete negate another perk. I'd probably say no just because DS is already getting a sizable nerf, so the stun time is really all that's going to be left. This would probably be overkill then.

Resilience: Sure, why not. Wouldn't do much, but I still don't see why not.

Iron Will: Maybe? Thing is, without deerstalker, you'd be completely screwed. I could just crawl around until the killer is close, then stop in some tall grass, and the only way the killer could find me is if he happened to walk over me. Maybe if it worked like T1/2 Iron Will where you had to stay still a second or two for it to take effect. I don't really think Iron Will is in need of a buff anyway. Maybe stick this on a different perk, like Unbreakable, to make that playstyle a little more practical.

    No Mither: Sure.

Lithe: I would say 'when control is regained' specifically, rather than on movement. That way it doesn't waste half of it if it activates on a second story window.

  • You were definitely not close enough in that instance. To grab, you have to be practically touching them.

Let me just say these "mods" are volunteer/free paying mods who are power tripping all the time. Most of the time you'll see them is when they need to strike down someone unfairly. You can't expect anything consistent or honorable about them TBH

Source: been playing and participating since a month after game release

While that may or may not have been true, they just announced in the live stream that BHVR has hired several ACMs, such as Peanits.  I don't know if there are still volunteer mods, but the ACMs are on the payroll.

Paid for ACM stuff, I still moderator on a volunteer basis on top of ACM stuff and my day job.

  • The basement is intended to be a dangerous place. Survivors are not supposed to go near it whenever possible, especially in a chase. Contrary of this, most of my teammates make it their goal to get to the basement as soon as possible when getting chased, only to get hooked in the basement.

My strategy is to get rid of the generator closest to the basement as soon as possible, while the killer still has a bunch of other generators to patrol and other survivors to chase. That way you don't have any reason to go back there later on.

  • For the first one, I would love to see that. I've had times where I've started, looked around, couldn't find the totem and just assumed it's on the other side of the map behind a generator or something. Then once I get across the map, realize it was actually right where I started and hidden behind a different generator. So I would totally be down for a blue aura for totems.

The thrill of the hunt thing I'm a little more mixed on. I haven't really had a problem keeping track of it. If you peek over at it, you can easily tell if it's on a generator or on the totem. I guess I'd be okay with it, but I also don't really see the need. What could also be interesting (and serve as a little buff for TOTH) is if it make the perk icon for the specific totem being cleansed flash while it's being cleansed. That way you can prioritize which you want to defend and which you want to let go, in case you're using multiple.

(Also I got you fam, I deleted the duplicate threads.)

  • We wouldn't ban you for it. If anything, we'd take the report, pass it on to the devs, and then delete the post. (It's a different story if you were to post it in GD with the intent to show people how to do it, though.)

But if you're reporting something that other people probably shouldn't know about (because it could be abused), the best course of action would be to contact a mod in private and report it that way. We'll pass it on to the dev team, and that way it's not sitting there showing people how to abuse a bug.

Oh, they finally decided my topic was "not spam."

    Wonderful!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brRRi8_tCXc

On topic: I think it's a neat idea, but at the same time with the way teachable perks work, I can see a lot of people playing Quentin (or another nemesis of an unpopular killer) just to avoid being affected by it. Might also be a little awkward with the base characters, Bill, and Leatherface, as they are not tied to a specific killer/survivor.

  • This means one of two things (or both):
    1. You have not yet completed the tutorials.
    2. The game is still downloading. The game will download the part of the game you need to play the tutorials so you can jump in and start learning while the rest downloads in the background.

  • For spam "bots" (I don't want to assume they're a robot and not just someone with way too much time on their hands) specifically, I wouldn't bother reporting every single post. Reporting one of their posts- per account you see doing it- is perfectly fine. Because they're just there to spam and not post at all, we skip escalation and instantly ban them and delete their posts anyway. Reporting multiple posts from the same spammer is basically overkill.

I'll also just check the recent threads once I see one anyway, so I'll probably catch the rest regardless.

That, and you lovely people are so good at reporting them that usually each post gets multiple reports just minutes after they're reported, so thanks for that.

All that aside, do you notice the filter normally when not reporting bots, or is it only when you're reporting multiple posts at the same time? While we could raise it if it's still causing issues, we also don't want to set it too high and make it possible to spam more.

I'm curious, are different mods assigned to different boards?  I ask because I can't recall seeing any mod other you in any of the posts in the general discussion forum.

Nope. General is what gets the most action, so I usually stick around here. Mandy comes around here pretty often too. We all check the reports for every sub though.

About that though did the report spam filter get tweaked since otherwise half the forum would be on a posting ban timer. That just from reporting really bad insult in 1 thread, let alone the 1st page.

It was changed. It's more lenient now.

  • Raccoon said:

Pretty strange how posts from established and legitimate users are being marked as spam >_>

It won't now. We can manually verify people who don't spam so their posts don't get stopped by the filter. I usually do it as I go through the spam queue.

So basically, you're verified now. The filter won't block your messages (still can't post insanely fast). It shouldn't happen again.
  • It is. I'm currently at work right now. If you see people insulting each other, report them. Most of them go unreported and there's no way we can read every single post.
  • You don't need to play as other killers. But I would recommend investing some of the bloodpoints you earn into the others. Each killer (and survivor) has "teachable" perks. These are perks that are unique to them, but once you level them up enough, you can unlock a teachable version which allows you to get them in the bloodwebs of other killers. So if you really like Myers, for example, you might want to level up the doctor to unlock Monitor and Abuse (a perk that makes your terror radius smaller).

Best tip I can give you is to just play as both sides. The way to become a better killer is to become a better survivor and vice versa. If you know what a survivor is thinking, you can predict what they're going to do and play around that. Know what works, figure out how the good survivors/killers you go up against counter that. Also, always keep an open mind. Rather than thinking, "That's no fair", think, "How could I have prevented that?"

  • I don't think he's insulted by it at all. You brought up a good point and he just answered back why it's a little more complicated than it seems. You've got nothing to worry about, I don't think he hates you or anything.

  • Currently launching an investigation to find out who leaked this very real alternate audio.

We got this awful, ear piercing clown music still. What's with that? @not_Queen @Peanits

I love how you've tagged @Peanits like as if he's an official part of the development/design team. He might be, I'm not sure. But whether he is or isn't, he is our lord and saviour. Back to the topic of the event, connection issues were present but even so it was possible to connect to matches if you were patient. I was, and was able to get 10% of the margaritas needed before I went back to playing other games. It doesn't matter in terms of this event, in my eyes, due to how lackluster the survivor cosmetic really is.

He's good at finding info on things are are super minor and unimportant such as Menu Music. :P

Yeah, he's lovely. I'd happily suck his Peanits, but I don't know if I have an allergy to nuts. I'm sure there is some explanation to the changed menu music.

    I'm flattered.

But I don't work in the office, I work from home. So the short version is I'm not sure why it's still Curtain Call themed. On the upside, the next chapter is close, so I imagine it's not going to stay circus themed much longer.

  • If you could, please grab the log file and make a bug report. Last I checked, they're still trying to recreate that one. Log files would be a huge help.

The lack of licensed killer skins don't really bother me. Would they be a nice addition? Absolutely! However I don't wanna see them stop adding licensed killers just because they can't make other costumes for them, at least until they add Pinhead.

My thoughts as well. That's not to say that I don't want original killers (I'm happy with either), but if there's an awesome licensed one up for grabs, I wouldn't want to miss out over a couple extra skins.

In any case, additional cosmetics for licensed killers/survivors are not off the table, they just need to be approved by their owners first. You can't just play dress up with someone else's Barbie without asking first, basically, they'd get mad at you. At least that's the really simple way to put it.

  • I wouldn't want to see that. It was like that before, and it just felt really bad to play against. There was zero counterplay (other than to just hide for two minutes, which is boring for everyone). Nowadays, it has counterplay. Don't want to go against NOED? Get off generators for a while and break some totems. Are all your totems destroyed? They could have spent that time doing generators.

It just feels much better now. It's not really a crutch perk anymore, it's a "you silly goose, you didn't take out the totems".

I don't really think it needs to be changed at all. As it stands, it punishes survivors that carelessly rush through the objectives, while thorough teams can disable it before it has a chance to activate. It's not a weak perk by any means. Even if you only get one hit with it before people catch on and go looking for it, that's a free down that you probably wouldn't have gotten otherwise, because the first time you hit them normally they can just beeline to the other gate and slip out (assuming someone's powering it [spoiler, they are]).

  • Here's the thing: The amount of time it takes for us to go out of our way and give someone a warning or ban for false reports is way more than the time it would take for us to just click off the report and ignore it. Reports on their own do nothing unless we investigate and prove them to be true, so if we see a report saying that someone's a camper, we just ignore it and move on. There's no point investigating something that isn't bannable.

It would be nice to see some updates to the report system, though. Some of the categories are a little vague so it'd be neat to have those be more specific.

  • You can file for an appeal here: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=228543

Although since you did claim you cheated, I'll save you some time and let you know that it's not going to be lifted. We've got zero tolerance for cheating. I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Going to go ahead and lock this now as we do not discuss bans in public.

  • If it took you three minutes to place one trap, I think it's safe to say you did it wrong.

I find him to be pretty good, you just need to use your noodle to predict where they're going to go. Once you've got that nailed down, the small size isn't a factor.

  • @Boss said:

    @Peanits said:
The ruling on that is that blocking only a survivor with a trap- while scummy as hell- it's at least strategy (even if it's a bad strategy that's going to cost you a ton of time while generators pop off left and right), but if you're blocking someone without a trap, that's a no-no.

TL:DR, just trap guy, scummy, but it's not bannable. Someone without a trap, no, don't do that.

So if you're blocking 2 Survivors, 1 not having an RBT on and 1 does have an RBT on that also ticks down, and you then release the 1 without an RBT once the 1 with an RBT is dead, it's still a no-no due to you blocking the 1 without an RBT?

    Correct.

  • Would be pretty neat, actually. Or just right click (some other button on console) to "favourite" it and automatically stick those at the front. That way they're always on the first page.

Would also be nice to have build presets, so you can switch between completely different builds on the fly.
