  • I have no illusions that being on comms with my friend doesn't increase our effectiveness. However, SWF (or equivalent) is unavoidable in multiplayer games where you can form teams. Trying to shame people into not playing SWF isn't going to work. If you have suggestions on how SWF and solo survivors can be placed on equal standing, feel free to make them.

  • No. There'd be no point, you can literally just stick a piece of paper on the geometric center of your screen.

  • @shalo said:

I doubt it. I've submitted tickets with video evidence and those videos have never been watched.

Tickets for what, though? A lot of people try to report killers for "tunneling" and "camping", among others.

  • @Bwsted said:

I've reported many people for chat abuse. And I mean for very hefty words.

I've also reported a handful of hardcore hackers with video evidence and tickets.

Judging by their steam profiles, not even a single sanction was ever handed out.

Take it for what it's worth.

Steam profiles don't show temporary in-game bans.

  • Unless a game is created with modding in mind, I don't think it should be added after the fact, because then the devs have two options when it comes to updates:

    1. Tell modders what they're going to update (which the modders totally won't leak or anything) so the modders can prepare their mods ahead of time. It's impossible to reach every modder, so if the devs go this route they'll be accused of "playing favorites" and whatnot.
    2. Don't tell anyone what they're going to update before the fact. Mods will stop being compatible with newer versions of the game, as is normal for mods (but apparently people who use mods and even some modders themselves are oblivious to this very obvious fact of modding), and the devs will get hate for it. Furthermore, the way in which mods stop being compatible can actually corrupt files, depending on the mod in question.

You know what, forget i even said anything. I mean yeah you have a good point but like I'm really not planning on letting the game i spent a fair amount of money on just sit on my laptop. Yeah i find it just as annoying when someone disconnects but i deal with it and try to work harder. I'm not a technician or a computer geek, idk what is wrong with my WIFI. all i know is it's possibly got something to do with the heat of my laptop which i cant change because as I said I'm not a computer geek or technician, the laptop has a built-in fan that is always on max when I'm playing games. I get your frustration but I came here looking for some form of help or assistance on the matter, or to at least bring light upon an issue that others may be having. I really wasn't expecting a bunch of strangers on the internet to snap back at me because they don't agree since they don't share the same problem. People who have this issue shouldn't just have to stop playing the game they really enjoy playing because of issues they have no control over. Unfortunately people cant just pull money out of nowhere to fix problems like these.

An ethernet cable is dirt cheap and will help stabilize your connection to your router.

People who have this issue shouldn't just have to stop playing the game they really enjoy playing because of issues they have no control over.

People don't have control over a game's minimum specs. What they do is they find a game that their PC (and Internet connection, if needed) can handle. They don't buy games that their setup can't handle and then complain that their setup can't handle them. Sorry, but this is 100% on you.

they feel like magic the gathering cards. you have to read the criteria very carefully to see what it's actually asking of you vs what you might assume / jump to the conclusion of what it's asking of you.

It's normal to read descriptions to understand how things work. The fact that this challenge works like this is either an error in its description, or a bug in the challenge conditions.

You're not paying for what you need to use the car (console), you're paying to have the car (console) use something you already bought and paid for (internet connection).

And this is why I'll never play on console again. Console manufacturers can freeze in the 9th Circle of Hell for this BS right alongside Satan as far as I'm concerned.

Not at all, but if you do make any mistakes, then its really nice to have. Likely will save you if you do have it, if you were to continue these mistakes as you have a free life. A free mistake that you aren't being punished for.

You know, like dead hard, instaheal medikits, ect.

As long as you are even a ok survivor you can rely on your loops, and when you make a mistake as this meh survivor, your perks and items are here to make it better as long as you space out your mistakes.

If you're prone to making mistakes, you'll get to use DS long before the 60 seconds are up.

  • @DerpyPlayz said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2173899#Comment_2173899

Or the survivor is playing properly with the base kit while not making mistakes, excluding perks and you aren't playing a killer that can disrupt them (IE: Nurse, Spirit)

In which case you don't need DS. There are many more alternatives (killer is intoxicated, killer is being kicked in the genitals by their offspring, killer's keyboard is failing), but the end result is the same: you either don't need DS, or you encountered something that needs to be fixed (i.e.: removed).

If you’re being chased directly off hook yes it is short. You don’t just stop getting tunneled after 60 seconds if a killer wants to tunnel they’ll tunnel you all match. Or it should at least pause while you’re in chase

If you have chases that last much longer than 60 seconds, then either the killer is bad (in which case you don't need DS), or you found an area that needs fixing (in which case you should report it).

  • @kate_best_girl said:

IMO they should remove the timer

like it’s not anti tunnel if there’s an extremely short timer

60 seconds is one hook state or 3/4 of a gen. That's not "extremely short".

  • I'm a survivor main and I think the game is survivor-sided.

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2172633#Comment_2172633

Yes but then you have to move to the gen first while you could have already been on the gen.

And as i said if your solo you might not even know someone got caught. Someone could have had a bad spawn near the killer, run them around for 20 seconds, get hit and only then a solo would know the stealth plan isn't working out. That's a lot of chase time going to waste

Early game survivors are at their strongest and it's really risky to just bank that everyone remains hidden to lose that early game pressure survivors have

Ofcourse in a perfect world where all survivors are coordinated it's good if you can outstealth a corrupt but in my experience there are to many things that can make it fail to be worth it.

Good idea in theory, unreliable in practice imo

Good idea in theory, unreliable in practice imo

"Unreliable" in your scenario where all four survivors are scattered, yes. I can create a scenario where your suggested method is also unreliable. Hell, I don't even have to, it's a fact that the center gens are where the killer is if they have Corrupt Intervention, because that's how the perk works. At least with stealth, you're not trying to get yourself killed.

Bottom line, no method is perfect. And before you say you know this, you're literally shooting down ideas for not being perfect by pointing out minor flaws.

  • @MeltingPenguins said:

    1. as if the entity hasn't meddled with killers sizes before. Look at the head proportions on some tall killers. Deathslinger for example was likely much smaller in life than the entity made him. So, the entity might adjust her ladyship to fit through the doorways.
    2. both re7 and 8 could actually build up on existing map pools: re7 on the swamp, re8 on the swamp and red forest.
    1. You literally have no proof of that. Most people aren't like DaVinci's Vitruvian Man, with "perfect" proportions. They have big heads, small heads, etc.
    2. Doesn't change the fact that Lady Dimitrescu wouldn't fit through doorways.
  • "Foreigners" is a relative term that means nothing without knowing where you're from.

so you admit you have no confidence in your skill to reduce the number from 4 to 3 without tunneling. duly noted.

A person who is confident in their abilities doesn't feel any need to prove themselves. That's why you see insecure people being loud and angry all the time, because anything can threaten their fragile egos.

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

    Bad idea.

All it takes is one survivor to get caught and suddenly killer are gaining pressure while you are hiding behind a rock not progressing your objective.

This might work in a 4 man swf that can coordinate this but in solo you really can't trust that everybody remains hidden.

Double as bad in solo as you don't even know if your teammates are getting chased.

Also if it's a setup killer you're allowing them to set up for free

Stealthing out the corrupt is a good idea in theory but a horrible one in practice

Just work on the center gens first. Something you should do anyway as a survivor

All it takes is one survivor to get caught and suddenly killer are gaining pressure while you are hiding behind a rock not progressing your objective.

And when that happens, you go out and do gens. You adapt your strategy to the situation, because no strategy is "one size fits all".

  • If it's undocumented, 99% of the time it's a bug. 1% of the time it's something they forgot to add to the patch notes. Drop the conspiracy stuff, please.

  • @Zozzy said:

The solution is easy but will never be done because it requires actual programming. Make the hooks take the survivor somewhere random like pphead cages. Increase gen times or gen count to leave.

    Done.

The solution is actually even easier and is already in the game.

    Rush gens.

    • For each survivor that dies from an RBT, the timer on every RBT, including the ones that haven't been used yet, is decreased by 30 seconds.

This is insane. You could have all survivors instantly pop in unison if played right/wrong. Imagine if you managed to get a RBT on each survivor, roughly 30s apart from each other. One pops, then the next, and the next, and the final one, all within a few seconds of each other.

Each jigsaw box when used becoming inactive is a great idea though.

Sorry, but that's not realistic. That'd mean that every survivor did nothing to try to remove the RBT. And if such a thing were to happen, at that point, it's really their fault.

    @TAG said:

I feel like your third suggestion completely undoes your first two suggestions. Once the first Trap is removed, the threat of the other three Traps is reduced HARD, and the threat only further decreases with each Trap removed. At that point, I don't think it matters that the timer might be reduced by a few seconds.

The numbers may need some tweaking, sure. However, in my experience, it shouldn't take much longer than 30 seconds to find and search a Jigsaw Box.

    @Seraphor said:

Instead of RBT timers decreasing with each one that successfully goes off, they should decrease with each one successfully removed, but not by 30 seconds that's a bit too much.

Also I think she should get an add-on that changes the activation trigger from 'gen completed' to 'unhooked'. So you put a hat on them, stick them on a hook, and then the moment they're rescued it starts ticking down. This would be instead of any substantial timer decreasing add-ons, probably instead of the one that removes box auras too as that's way too evil, and it would make her power valid in the end game after the final gen is repaired.

If combined with the 'jigsaw boxes get used up' nerf, this wouldn't be too overbearing. You'd likely only have one box to go to, which would counter act the fact that there's no gens left to defend, and that the timer will be starting automatically on unhook.

Instead of RBT timers decreasing with each one that successfully goes off, they should decrease with each one successfully removed, but not by 30 seconds that's a bit too much.

As I mentioned to @TAG, 30 seconds is more or less the time it should take you to find and search a box. However, it would be more or less the same. My goal is to make the traps deadlier without becoming too powerful.

Surely it's also entitlement to say that they deserve a chance to escape after their team has failed in a team game?

    Just some food for thought

The hatch is a necessary evil due to the nature of "teams" on the survivor side. 4-man SWF are rare, you're most often going up against two teams paired together or one team and two randoms.

Now, does that mean the hatch is fair? No. But the game is fairer overall with the hatch than it would be without it.

How about instead of points you ask for a mechanic that makes it so that although camping is allowed it is no longer a viable strategy. Something like the hook timer doesn't go down if the killer is within a certain radious of the hook while not in a chase?

I had a thread proposing ideas that would solve the issue and this seemed to be the idea that came up on the end. If you see any exploitsthat could be used by either side in this implementation, let me know

That idea was already tried and abused by survivors.

Camping is only as viable as survivors allow it to be. Bite the bullet and either stay on that hook or work on gens. Boring? Sure. That's why I used the expression "bite the bullet".

    @WhiskyTangoFoxtrot said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2136758#Comment_2136758

The literal only time the "situation calls for it" is if you have no kills and all the gens are done/the gates are open. If you face camp on your first hook, you're just being a douche. I had at least 3 killers tonight face camp me when I was their first or second hook with 4 gens still on the map. I get it if it's a last resort tactic, but the vast majority of people I see do it are NOT doing it as a last resort.

If two survivors are at the hook, camping is also a good idea. You have 1 survivor doing gens and 3 doing nothing, as long as you camp.

Nah - remove Emblems and category BP caps; but keep match cap of 32,000.

    15,000 to 24,999 - 1 Pip

    25,000+ - 2 Pips.

Stop punishing players who might be really skilled at one aspect of the game - or really good at getting one particular task taken care of during matches, such as 'really good at knocking out generators without being found and ran off by the killer'.

    ----

That, or just remove ranks all together when MMR comes out (if it ever freaking does). Keep Emblems for the players that just 'need to know' how well they played by the Dev's preferred playstyle and rules.

Cleanse 5 totems (1 hex), open the hatch and escape through it, and you get exactly 10000 BP. Do you think someone who only cleansed totems and then used a key to escape did well enough to justify staying in the same rank?

This was always the problem with the BP system. Playing for points does not mean you did a lot during the trial, it just means you maximized point gain.

  • That was already tried a while ago. It didn't work.

  • She doesn't. That trailer doesn't do her justice. I saw her lean forward 90 degrees and bend her knees to fit through a wine cellar door. She's 290 cm tall. To put that into perspective, if her arms are proportional to her height, she can throw you from the second storey while standing on the ground floor.

To be clear, in my country (and most of the world) we go:

    • Ground floor
    • 1st floor
    • 2nd floor
    • etc.

That's not what this is about, at all.

If you were to tell me you don't care about X, then in the same sentence argue that X shouldn't be in the game, constantly argue against people who want X (which you claim to be indifferent to), open threads complaining about X, and so on, then I'd be left to conclude you do, in fact, care about X.

5% is everywhere? We have a few straight relationships in dbd game and the rest is unknown, believe me or not but people don't care about who you are dating, but it doesn't mean they're homophobic, they're just have their own lifes.

And those people are so indifferent and busy with their own lives, they often have nothing better to do than to come to these threads (or even open these threads) and tell us all how much they don't care, but also why LGBT relationships shouldn't be in the game.

PS: 5% (which is a percentage you probably based on data from very LGBT-unfriendly countries - what a surprise that there aren't many "out" LGBT people where being LGBT is a death sentence) of the world is more than the entire population of the USA. It's more than 3/4 of the population of the EU.

  • Just a small request that I'm sure some people will use as "evidence" that "they" (meaning LGBT) are never satisfied: can we stop reducing LGBT to just "G"? Yes, gay people are LGBT, but not all LGBT people are gay.

  • On the rare occasions I play killer, I want kills. Getting a ton of hooks without kills might make me feel like I at least had a shot and ######### up, which takes away some of the bitterness of failure, but it won't make me feel like I've won.

    Killer=Killing

    Survivor=Surviving

    That's how I play.

They actually said that the survivors should be able to represent the player, that's why they have survivors from so many nations and colors. Asking for representation is a good thing, and since bhvr said they'll release one, I think that it excites those people.

For example, if they said " we will add a bush character in the future" I inform you that I'd spam on Twitter and on these forums to see this bush character, since the bush represents me perfectly.

  • Because the human ear isn't sensitive to all frequencies in the same way. If you think the survivors are actually at different volumes, you can probably stick their audio files in an audio-editing software and it'll show you how loud they are.

  • Red Herring a gen where the Legion found three of us near the beginning of the trial. Sent them there two or three times when they were approaching a gen we were actually working on. They must've wasted 2-3 minutes in total searching an empty corner of the map. Unfortunately, the other survivors didn't know how to hold M1, so we lost anyway.

If the license holders are OK with it. Freddy's lore/videos on the DBD channel talk about how the Entity buffed his power in some areas and nerfed it in others. I'm sure BHVR could come to a similar agreement with Capcom if they wanted to.

I think there's a difference between adapting a character's powers and adapting their appearance. The appearance is usually the main factor in recognizing a character, not their powers.

  • Just for the record, Lady Dimitrescu is far too tall to be in the game. Plague is not anywhere near her height (dunno why people keep saying that). She's 290 cm tall. 1. Those are units I actually understand.
    2. Most countries on Earth use the metric system.

EDIT: Fun fact, she's actually exactly 290 cm. I remembered that CAPCOM owns RE, so there's no way they'd have released that information using the imperial system (Japan uses metric, see 2).
