When I was young, I would analyze the hell out of something I enjoyed and dissect it until I fully understood every little thing about. At one time I was somewhat intelligent. Those days are long gone.

I know a lot of you still analyze the hell out of DBD. My question is really this. Of those of you who break the game down tile by tile, power by power, do you do this to be a better and more competent player, because it’s simply your nature, or for feelings of a type of superiority?

I don’t do it anymore simply because I learned to let my mind relax. Superiority is a young person’s game in my mind now. I’m very much a casual player in all games now.

This is as casual persons game, its not balanced. The only thing to analyze and realize is that this game is really easy to understand and figure out everything about it in only a few weeks.

To answer your question, its a personality trait, and it doesn't make you childish as you seem to imply even if someone were to do it for competitive superiority. That is lunacy, by that same metric, just about anyone who is professional in anything would be "a young persons game".

Just because you don't have the drive or skill to do X doesn't mean Y group of people who do X should be thought of any differently.

So it's not as bad as it seems/sounds, but it'll take up to 6 000 hours? Come on, dude.

Uh yhea? Because as said before this is like, the reason to play in terms of progression. Its not really that bad compared to other games. Games I have spent many of thousands of hours more on, such as Rainbow, and other players have spent tens of thousands of hours on, still have not learned everything in those games.

Thats the thing, you play games such as Rainbow with the end game goal to be the best. You don't have that same goal in this game as its unbalanced, least it would be foolish too. So all you really have is the BP system to keep you company in terms of progress.

I certainly would prefer if the grind was lessened, but if I am being honest I would likely just stop playing the game on whatever platform after I gained every P3 outfit and perks. There would be no real motivation to continue except reaching X devotion, however it is a mechanic they still, years later have done nothing with.

New content keeps games alive for a reason, so there is something to work towards, be it more progress or more game mechanics to explore.

End game goals such as having a rarer outfit are something nice in my opinion.

  • Im pretty sure implementing a system where you could not go over X speed, or Y height or generally having specific variables under normal conditions impossible to reach that would result in a ban would cost money, money I am not thinking that the devs want to spend.

In any case, realistically I think this could in theory be problematic. For example, what if someone accidently found a exploit that sent you free falling under the map. (this has happened before) Well I am pretty sure they wouldn't be happy to find out they were thought to be cheating because of this. At one point there was just a free fall in the preschool, so its not too hard to think some casuals would not be suriously playing the game, see it, investigate, jump in, and have this issue.

There are other reasons too and scenarios on why this would be risky but that is what instantly came to mind.

  • @Clowning said:

The main issue is that you're trying to P3+50 all characters, obviously. While there's ways to make that process faster, you're still looking at THOUSANDS of hours. Yes, thousands.

As to how to speed up the grind? I imagine your mains are P3+50, meaning they're likely to have most, if not all of the perks. In which case the answer is Killers with BBQ and Survivors with Kindred/WGLF/Borrowed Time, that's it. That's all.

Mmmm, I don't think its as bad as you make it out though. I mean the only thing for progress is leveling characters. I can get a P3 killer in roughly 4 days if I just grind for it.

For reference, I only really cared about Killers when I use to play and I had roughly 4000 hours and had nearly every Killer P3. Of that time, most of it was me just learning the game really and playing really inefficient for my first 1000 hours and it was my first account.

In theory assuming you were using BP perks I would think it would only take 2000 - 3000 hours for all killers. So roughly 4000 hours to 6000 hours if you knew what you were doing when you started the game. I suppose this sounds like alot, but I don't think so in general. Although maybe for DBD that is alot for the same gamemode.

    1. Works with mindbreaker

    2. It works more than long enough to serve a purpose at loops, especially against Dead Hard

    1. Works with mindbreaker

Another terrible perk, cool. Terrible +Terrible = terrible though.

Replying to what your idea is, its simply not strong enough at all to justify the perk slots. You want basically information as a trade off for slow down. How is that good at all?

Survivors (better ones) don't care if you know they're location, they likely are happy to have you chase them depending on your killer. There is also the fact, if you know where someone is and they are roughly 24m from you, you likely aren't going to be in a good position to start a chase.

Also common survivor perks like Spine chill just outright nullify any reason of this combo. You are actually trying to tell me that two perk slots is good for (Lets assume best case, 3 close gens) large amounts of intell.

We know however, time and time again without fail, chase potential is the leading factor for a killer right behind gen regression in terms of effectiveness.

Something as simple as BBQ is more effective in the general sense, unlocks a entire perk slot for chase or gen perks, and honestly I could go on but at this point if I keep writing what is wrong with your assertion and implication then I will make this reply even longer then what it already is and it already is to long.

    2. It works more than long enough to serve a purpose at loops, especially against Dead Hard

No it doesn't, it just doesn't. You take 2.6 seconds breaking a pallet alone, yet alone catching up to decent survivor, playing through clutch perks, ect. Again, all this for information just is not worth it, and after the nerf (basically what you propose) it will just make this perk even more useless. At least it still might have some light use at 50% (albeit low) vs high mobility killers and Nurse.

Note: You haven't refuted any of my points, therefore they all stand.

  • @Tekno_Badger said:

Trying to keep this canon for the perk, which implies that Nurse hears survivors if they slow down or get tired, and hones in on breathing. So, here it is:

    STRIDOR

When a survivor becomes Exhausted within 24m of you, you see their Aura for 8/9/10s. Breathing sounds and Grunts of Pain are increased by 25%.

I wouldn't mind a buff to it, although your idea doesn't really seem to be a buff at all.

When a survivor becomes Exhausted within 24m of you, you see their Aura for 8/9/10s.

This is simply not a buff because its useless. The key question is "When does a survivor become exhaused?". The most common reason of course are clutch perks, such as Sprint Burst, Lithe, ect that would likely be more then long enough to strip all or at least the most of the time this new reworked Stridor gave you in wall hack.

There is also DeadHard however, that would just make this outright useless.

The only way you could get ANY use of this is if you are playing some of the best killers perfectly, and even then it would still be luck based.

Breathing sounds and Grunts of Pain are increased by 25%.

Why would we nerf a perk to 25% (Previously 50%) if we are buffing it, that is just not a good idea.

I know this would be a terrible idea.

  • @Phasmamain said:

YES they can and this is a terrible argument. They already have removed blinks from nurse, and there are trophies for her that require three blinks.

Even if I gave you that point however, it would still be terrible. Game balance is more important then trophies.

Dead hard doesn´t even work fine. Is problematic because playing dead hard is playing lottery.

That is because you don't understand what you are doing. DH, if used properly allows for the correction of mistakes that would otherwise down you. IF you are using it before the killer hits you, you are using it incorrectly. Use it to get to loops, or windows with plans in mind, either as a extension or as a correction for your mistake.

It is the only perk in the game that I know of, that counters every killer power in the game.

Why would u like to nerf a perk u cant really rely on?

I wouldn't. Why would you bring up this point, when we are talking about Deadhard. One of the, if not the best perks in the entire game.

Its so consistent that you can rely on this perk for multiple lives.

I really like playing Dead by Daylight, usually solo que survivor, and sometimes killer. Lately the games are mostly about camping and tunneling from killers side but well, its part of game. It happens. But my question is, do u meet lately more toxity in the game? If u even report, are some players penalised somehow?

After playing as killer, i was not camping, not tunneling, i won the game fair way, the guy was so angry that after the game he wrote in chat that he pray my mom under ground...etc, He wrote couple more things. I dont get it really. I was so sad about it.

Even worse example? Well, i was playing solo que survivors, in loby perhaps i got 3 guys survival friends. One guy switched on steam the name , exactly the same name as i have, when he did it, it switched also colour of name, the green name i have. One survivor in lobby wrote me Hello How are you. I answered I am fine, while his friend who changed name to same name i have, was in lobby very very rasist, and it looked like that i do so. I didnt know about this yet, well friend on twitch explained me what happened. He was very very rasist and It did look like that I did so since in lobby chat it looked like i do write it.... I was very surprised this may happen, I didnt know about it. It was very angry and hateful racism and it really like i do so. He was doing that under my name.... After lobby i was so shocked, the game was starting and i better went to Task manager to end this game .... :(

Do you have any advices what to do in this situations? And does anybody care about this not to be happening?

    Thank yout.

In any case, you shouldn't be sad about what someone online said. You in this case should be happy that they just exposed that they were so annoyed by the end of the game, that they felt the need to insult you.

Given the recent Stridor nerf, there is no counterplay to Iron Will for killers. Survivors emit zero breathing sounds when they equip this perk. It is unlimited and requires zero input from the player. If you are running this perk, you are using it perfectly by default.

At least 50% of survivors seem to be using Iron Will in my trials. Obviously this is anecdotal evidence, but there has been a huge surge in Iron Will usage since the Stridor nerf. It is very problematic against killers who rely on audio input i.e. Nurse, Spirit, and Blight to an extent. Especially in the case of Nurse, her kit blocks LOS by default, and then on top of that a survivor can perfectly restrict audio by simply equipping a perk.

I don't feel that it is fair to remove a mechanic from the trial for the entire duration of the trial by equipping a perk without requiring any input or conditions for activation at all. Would Iron Will be released in its current form today? I don't think so. There would be some condition for it to activate or timer on it. Especially when there is nothing on the killer side to counter it. I think it should be active for a maximum of 45 seconds or only work when the survivor isn't moving or performing an action.

Iron will is fine, Dead hard is the real issue atm.

Okay maybe I misunderstood what was asked.

When I said static, I meant that pallet locks are selected at the beginning of the match (RNG) and that’s it. They don’t come back and can’t be transferred to different pallets. My bad.

I mean, thing is, you're the last survivor in the trial, the 1v1 in this game is heavily killer sided. I dont ever get the view how it could feel like the killer thinks you're too pathetic to kill. It tends to be quicker to just leave you slugged and bleed you out while the EGC timer goes down so they can go AFK while you die. They are literally in a position where the only chance you escape, is if you happen to reach the hatch faster than the killer does. Which, if the killer knows where the hatch is, is impossible and otherwise is heavy RNG. Meaning your chances of survival are extremely luck based at that point. Would you rather have a escape based on pure luck, or a killer admitting defeat?

I'd personally see it more as "if your teammates were better, you would probably have escaped, I admit my defeat".

I dont ever give the escape to a weak link, because if the weak link hasnt died by that point, they must have been hiding all game, or I've been purposely not killing them so I could get more hooks before finally killing the first person. The only time a weak link escapes through hatch, is if that weak link has been my favourite survivor that match.

Why would I ever give a terrible player the hatch, unless they've made the game awesome in an unexpected way?

    Why are you tagging me.

My idea would be static: a few pallets are randomly selected at the start of the game to have the Pallet Lock on them. Once the lock has been removed on a pallet, it would remain off for good.

My idea would be static: a few pallets are randomly selected at the start of the game to have the Pallet Lock on them. Once the lock has been removed on a pallet, it would remain off for good.

Static: lacking in movement, action, or change, especially in a way viewed as undesirable or uninteresting.

Random: made, done, happening, or chosen without method or conscious decision.

I don't think you can say it is static if it is random. That makes no sense.

That's an interesting way to think of it and could be true for some killers. All killers are different an no one reason for giving the hatch will be true for everyone. However, I have primarily seen hatches given to good loopers, who the killer feels was let down by their team. I myself don't coordinate it that way, because that takes a lot of work to purposefully force that outcome. But sometimes the last person standing is in fact that good looper.

Another way to think about it is that you taking the hatch helps the killer out. A 4K probably increases killer MMR more than a 3K does. So perhaps the killer will get more balanced survivor matches afterwards. Whereas with a 4K, they might get a huge MMR boost and thrown into a few too-difficult matches.

Dunno. Just theorizing. I think you should take the hatch next time. Sometimes it's just a chill offer.

However, I have primarily seen hatches given to good loopers, who the killer feels was let down by their team.

That is what I meant to say by "Advanced players". Sorry, I am recovering from a hangover and a high. XD

I myself don't coordinate it that way, because that takes a lot of work to purposefully force that outcome. But sometimes the last person standing is in fact that good looper.

I suppose it just depends on the team tbh, if they make gens fly yhea its hell on earth basically. I rarely ever make it a priority though to let someone escape, like another non-SFW action, it just happens in the heat of the moment.

Dunno. Just theorizing. I think you should take the hatch next time. Sometimes it's just a chill offer.

Even when it is, I would rather just get to the next game as dying can be faster then hatch, and lastly I don't wanna escape if I didn't actually escape myself. Defeats the point of escaping, right?

Imagine playing any game, and every game you just won. You didn't do anything to win, you just win. It wouldn't be fun. Least not for me.

  • @Rey_512 said:

So here’s the truth: the DBD devs will most likely NOT remove breakable walls from the game. Their behavior has shown that this a map feature they are proud of for some reason. It is generally agreed upon that breakable walls negatively affect killers more than survivors (killers often have to break these to avoid a survivor having a near-infinite loop).

With that in mind, why not introduce the equivalent but for survivors? I will share a PROPOSAL, but I would also like to hear everyone’s thoughts on how BHVR can add something that makes it so survivors have to strategize instead of having free loops wherever they go.

    IDEA: “PALLET LOCKS”

So this doesn’t have to apply to every pallet on a map, but it would be nice for the RNG to prioritize stronger pallets such as Killer Shack and Jungle Gyms.

A “Pallet Lock” would be basically an added gameplay element that would force survivors to unlock it before they can use the pallet that is locked (visualized by a pallet chained to remain upright or something). Unlocking the pallet wouldn’t require a special item or anything, but it could take between 20-30 seconds so it’s something a survivor has to choose to prioritize or not. A toolbox could be used to speed up the unlock process. That way it helps buy some time for killers if survivors choose to unlock pallets they see, and if they don’t then the (potentially strong) pallet remains unusable.

What are your thoughts? Any other ideas for added gameplay elements that promote strategizing?

Certainly a interesting idea. The best and only solution I have heard that is unique. Im unsure how effective this is though. It could also maybe be annoying if it isn't static. Imagine being in a losing position and RNG locked a pallet, could outright break games with no fault to the surv.

I see it as a insult to injury, like the killer after winning is like "Pfft, you are too pathetic for me to even kill because I feel bad for you, take this escape you noob, as that is the only time you are even going to escape you [BAD WORD] [BAD WORD] [BAD WORD]".

Of course, I realize most killers are just tryina be nice, just doesn't feel that way. Since I personally only let the weak links in easy games go, or the advanced players go during a game in which it was easy.

What have you done, he is borderline boring, UNFUN and anoying to play against

He has improved, he was not fun to play as nor vs. Now it can be fun to play as.

What is with his Iri add on you might aswell bring back iri huntress

He is one of the weakest killers in the game, either the person you are playing vs is really really good, really really lucky, or you guys just fumbled the game.

In any case its likely your fault you died, and his IRI addon is incredibly situational in which you actually get value out of it. Its not very good at all. Simply keeping your distance is normally enough to force him to damage you, therefore nullifying it. If you are at half health then he basically only has 1 addon, as it only is useful in specific situations where there are no windows, pallets, and you are able to hit knives.

If you were to ask me, I would say the survivor is doing something wrong being in such a bad position, mindlessly taking chase without plans.

The fact that it says the teaser video is titled a Hellraiser Teaser alone is what tells me it's most likely Hellraiser.

Doubt it unless it outright says it, and even then I don't think it is a issue to mention something, but the really hard part would be proving intent based off of vague statements.

Oh that is actually a good point too, I could see that.

Billy bounces ...? Ok then 😂

Though if you want to make the point blight slides off a LOT now adays and barely bounces. That's perfectly fair. But come on now. That's reaching for a "omg they're so similar !"

I just mean, Billy is locking into a sprint in which he downs full health survs with low mobility.

Blight is basically the same, just higher mobility and no full health downs.

It is, literally, impossible to tell the difference between a DC and a game crash with current coding. This is not a BHVR thing; it's a programming thing.

The program just sees 'connection gone'. It has no way of seeing if it was a pulled plug, a router turned off, power was lost, or the program was closed. These is no difference to any of these, to the game, because they all equate to the same result; connection went poof.

    I like poofs!

    Nothing is being done.

Jack ######### quality of life features, nothing about the grind being lessened. No advanced graphics, no FOV slider, no key changes, no perk overhauls, no reworks. I'm honestly having a better discussion with the bloody brick wall outside my house.

    No news, no nothing.

I was originally going to make a very detailed post but I'm honestly too burned out to even try at this point... 3 Weeks of Anniversary Cakes & 2x Bloodpoints and I'm still missing perks and some of my characters are not maxed out. I forced myself to play to work on getting stuff done but all this did is burn me out even more... I had to work during those events to get the characters that I play to max & with all perks so I can enjoy them afterward.

So you can get an idea, I've spent roughly 5-6 million Bloodpoints on Myers alone to get BBQ tier 1. I've spent millions more trying to get it to rank 3. I'm honestly about to fold. Why? I'm STILL MISSING PERKS

We're gonna get a new killer & survivor soon and things are gonna go like normal. More money to spend, more time to grind out the perk, more time to max out the characters if you're gonna ever play them. Did I mention the new overpriced cosmetics?

I'm tired of making feedback posts and nothing being done. I'm tired of looking at excellent ideas & suggestions and them being discarded for years to come.

I'm so tired of having expectations of this game & nothing being done. Pisses me the bloody hell off.

I want changes & I want them till the end of the year. And yes, I know I'm burned out and I need a break.

    Well said.

For calling for its nerf to even be justifiable since people will actually be able to use it then. Plus this thread is not about game balance, it's about playability.

Its nerf is justifiable because Survs are already op as it is, it also gives them multiple free lives.

I've been trying to find a killer that suits me, but is still one that can perform well.

For god knows how long I've been maining console Blight, and occassionally trying other killers. But lately I've grown tired of precision based characters who can be dodged by moving slightly to the left or right. Which seems to be a growing trend with modern killers.

I just don't know who to play anymore. I don't want to take a break, I just want to find a killer that suits me.

You could try Plague, shes a good average killer.

CC potential, anti-heal, M1 with a little bit of range. No precision is needed, just understanding of her ability and strats.

Hiding survivor ranks doesn't hide their boring, awful gameplay.

It's all the same: all four survivors are loaded up with second chance perks (or, maybe, there's one that's all about stealth), there's always the designated runner who is desperate to get your attention, they show up like a sweaty swat team any time anyone is hooked, swarming with their BT and DS and now their Flash Bang, desperate for that save because they're all so horribly terrified of ever being hooked. Oh, and let's not forget about Dead Hard; they saw someone on twitch use it, so obviously it's the best and they should use it too. (Just forget about how they spam it early every time, in the middle of nowhere where it couldn't possibly help even if they did time it right.)

And then there's the items. Everyone has an item. All four (at least three), usually either all toolboxes or all med-kits, but usually at least one flashlight, too. There's almost always at least one pink add-on: an odd bulb or a brand new part, or at the very least it's a sapphire lens; maybe it's a map but let's not kid ourselves: maps are for people with plans that include things other than desperate unhooks.

Flashlight survivor chases you around like it's prom night and you're the last single member of your social circle. They contribute nothing to the game except some aggravation. They're always there in your face, so they probably get three-hooked before anyone else has more than one, and because it's almost always SWF, they hang around untill the end to complain about how you tunneled them (because according to the Survivor's Rule Book for Killers, you're obligated to two-hook everyone before anyone dies, regardless of how terrible someone might be playing). But let's be honest: it was satisfying to eject them from your game.

Ultimately, the game ends in one of two ways: either an excess of altruism leads to their doom, or they have enough coordination to always have at least one person on gens, so all for escape.

Then, if they're on your platform, endgame chat is toxic af -- you either tunneled too hard or you suck (nevermind that you literally let their potato escape because you could tell they were out of their league).

    Please stop. :/

Its literally a diversion but theres something behind it to get you to pay attention to it

I'm still rooting for pin head but with the lawsuit over who owns the rights to hell raiser I dont know how thy did it . That what stopped friday the 13th so why is this an exception.

Re looking at all the the letters we got

    We got siaerhell

Just the way how these letters were dropped in simmlar ways to spring trap was revealed

It could spell "I am still here: the first line when spring trap was revealed

All the letters we have currently will every letter except. ,m,t and we still have 4 days until ptb

And if your thinking theres not enough i's in the misspelled circus if you use both of them it fits evenly.

With the redhering perk could be both metaphorical and literal

Right now almost everyone is dead set on hellraiser. The description of red hering is people listen to what's the loudest.

And in fnaf 3 you literally use red herrings the entire game to keep him away from you as long as possible

    What are you saying.

Just so no ones confused an example of elaborate killer power would be like Executioner or Freddy. An example of simple one is Huntress or Hag. Post your answer and you killer with your answer if you wish and you can even explain why.

I personally like more elaborate killer powers with extra stuff to it.

Simple from a design perspective is almost always better.

For one, in games, its not fun to have to learn how to play any specific power in a specific way, and complicated powers normally force this. For example, Demo's power has depth to it but its forcing in playstyle. You set a portal to teleport, simple. However using M2 its not as simple, and is normally used for gate keeping for various reasons. It is therefore makes you forced to play in a playstyle that zones, or you won't get the most out of his abilities.

Huntress however, is simple and you can use her long range attack in a variety of ways. Mind games, direct damage, ect and because it doesn't have a more complicated requirement such as first a portal being needed to set first, it is more flexible.

Since its hard for a killer to be simple, strong and fun to play vs, yet alone complicated as well. This is why most if not all the killers are pretty simple in concept with the more advanced strats revolving around situations or when to use they're power or how its used.

It matters for the sake of the argument. It isn't illogical to conclude that Consoles have more players than PC.

Online or Story? Story was fine for me and online wasn't too terrible.

No it doesn't and holds just as much baring as someone saying they have 3000 hours in a game. Thats nice, but how popular something is, is not valid in conversation about preference, be it subjective or objective.

Online or Story? Story was fine for me and online wasn't too terrible.

Online. If you don't play PC you might not notice how bad it is because you'll be use to it. Play PC for a week at medium with 60RR and go back to console and you'll realize how bad it is.

This goes for both killer and survivor. There should be some sort of competitive mode if people want to sweat.

My personal experience with SBMM has been dying at 5 gens or getting the swat teams. (Usually a purple rank solo/duo survivor, red rank killer) I consider myself a decent player but I play casual. I don’t care about winning every match but I also don’t enjoy getting roasted every match. I honestly feel like I got people at my skill level before this SBMM was enabled. This is just my experience.

I don't like it either. Im forced to play good killers now, when I was trying to play bad killers like Trickster.
