It’s because Hoarder on Pinhead essentially is a slowdown perk like all other meta perks. The playstyle when you run it is to keep chain hunts going as often as possible, which literally pulls survivors off objectives.
Survivors hate slowdowns so I don’t know why anyone is surprised that people would ######### about a niche perk that is made into a slowdown perk by one killer’s power. Like, don’t tell me killers wouldn’t be annoyed if the next survivor launched with a perk that turned an existing survivor meme perk into another second chance or exhaustion perk.
Kind of like how one of Cheryl's perks made unbreakabill even better.

There's normally a couple months between, so we aren't scheduled to get the next Realm Beyond update (Part Seven) for a month or so.
I'm talking about actual map overhauls, not just character model overhauls.

I feel this...
STAPH GIVING ME COUP DE GRACE FLASHBACKS!!!!
I spent a million bloodpoints and I still didn't get Franklin's or Hoarder. Not even barbecue showed up for pinhead.
-
The perks cover his weakness of not being able to know where the box is. It's only natural survivors would be peeved that pinhead can now do something about them.

Honestly, all they need to do is one kick removes 5% progress, and it regresses it at half a charge a second (160 seconds to fully regress instead of the current 320) and I'd be perfectly happy.
That's basically all it would take to satisfy me. Something else they could do is make survivors stay on the gen for 2 seconds to fully stop the regression.

"I've tried to flick around loops only to hit an invisible collision box."
Bumping invisible collision is mainly caused by an high ping.
The 'heavy clutch' seems to be good with the Hillbilly's chainsaw but I don't know if it reduces the damaging hitbox of the survivors too.
That's not ping buddy, I've got decent internet.
Autohaven is known for environmental hitboxes being stupid. That and his chainsaw is overly sensitive to the smallest parts of objects. Such as the very tip of an object that looks like you have clearance of.
I get having simple collision zones makes the game run slightly better. But God does it make it annoying when the collision gets in the way of a perfectly executed curve.
And yes, heavy clutch does make it harder to hit survivors.
-
Blight was a good step, but I feel he needs just a little bit more.
Maybe increase the turn rate a little bit during the lunge of his lethal rush.
-
MMR has been very hit or miss for my killers.
I feel like the system isn't doing something right. Sometimes I go against potatoes on my MAIN, who also happens to be billy. When I'm generally a good enough killer to where I shouldn't be encountering low skill players.
And other's I'll go against the 4 man swat team intent on making my experience as miserable as possible.
I've played enough matches to where my mmr on billy should have settled by now. But it just hasn't.
-
Nah, RNG is a big part of dbd, as much as I hate it. Some maps just won't work well with certain killers.
That's just the nature of the beast.

IMO it is fine that Killers can use Perks for it. It is not like anyone is forcing them, they decide on their own to run those Perks. And they are strong Perks, so totally worth a Perk Slot.
And as I said, it would make Killer-gameplay more boring if there would be base Regression or base Slowdown in the game. At least for me, I avoid stuff like that a Killer and I guess I would become bored pretty easily if I get so much hand-holding.
I will also point out no one is forcing YOU to kick gens if such a change were to occur.
Those of us who would like to not be forced to use perks for gen regression will be fine. As well as you being fine since you're such a good killer that you don't need to run those perks.
It's a win/win

Even without said stuff I was at nearly 31k points. You rarely get that as survivor. Meanwhile as killer all you need is a 2k with lots of chases and hooks.
It is also worth mentioning that earning more than 20,000 bloodpoints as survivor is the exception, not the norm.
For killer it depends on the killer you play. The devs made some killers earn more points with their powers than others.
A killer like Blight will earn a crap ton of points in the deviousness category. The man is a bloodpoint machine because the devs made his power generate a good amount of bloodpoints.
Meanwhile plague and billy are still struggling to fill their deviousness score. Instead relying on the other three categories for the bulk of their points.
( to a degree it also depends on the skill of the survivors, some teams you'll barely be able to do anything against. Others you'll curbstomp, either scenario will usually result in a less than stellar amount of points )
but that largely depends on how well MMR works, which has been neither here nor there.

They're going to make them basekit though? And instead of making them something stronger/weaker they're trying to make them a more usual, more interactive gameplay feature? Same with keys; add them basekit, make basekit counterplay, and make them a decent strength
I hope the survivor counterplay for mori's isn't too strong. After all, if a survivor is downed on their third hook, they're guaranteed dead anyway.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
I really hope something like base Regression or base PGTW will never exist. Stacking Slowdown-Perks is the easiest und most boring way to play Killer, this should not become Basekit.
They might want to look at something that tapping is not possible anymore or that the initial Kick takes a little bit of progress immediatly instead of just starting to regress a Gen. But not more IMO.
Base regression sucks right now, I agree it shouldn't be ruin levels of regression. But it shouldn't be anything to scoff at either.
Plus if they do buff kicking a gen in some way, they'll be able to safely nerf the gen regression perks.
-
@Ludicris said:
The issue they face now is that if they balance generator speed/regression to not require gen regression perks. Then you have a handful of perks that will absolutely break the game.
They put themselves into a hole.
Then balance those perks in the same PTB as the regression changes.

They also said that they’re going to stop doing events in order to go all out on their Anniversary and Halloween. Anniversary passed and it just felt like another broken chapter.
I can only hope they actually mean it for the Halloween event. I can only imagine how upset people would be if they screwed up another Halloween event.

There are collision boxes on things we wouldn’t think would exist. Lots of small branches on trees and vines hanging from above that cause a collision cooldown for Billy.
Unfortunately right now knowing these are part of his skill cap.
The fact you can hit something that high above him is stupid. One of the few reasons I pray to never go to the macmillan estate.
But lord knows how long it will take them fix his issues.

I mean, I literally can't travel up or down stairs using the chainsaw on any map except for the basement stairs on RCPD, so I'd say the collision maybe needs a little work, but it's possible that I'm just stupid or that the inability to traverse stairs at mach speed is intended.
I remember a time when he could run up stairs. It definitely isn't supposed to collide with them.

Thanks I'll try this after losing a bunch and never getting his 3 perk achievement. Sounds like a really good idea on him.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2496644#Comment_2496644
Yes I've been finding that it shares a lot of similarity with Nurse blink aiming. Not 100% but very close. Not sure if I should lean into it or try to separate them in my head since it's more nuanced with the speed increase.
I hate to flex this hard, but I got his adept in my first match using him.
The survivors were over altruistic, and made it really easy to follow up with a down.

I don't know what happened but I'm pretty sure they have done something with Hillbilly collision. I was watching some old footage of mine playing him before the nerf and I was hitting chainsaws I am pretty sure I would not hit if I played him today, even though I'm miles better at killer now.
Yeah, they say they didn't mess with his basekit numbers. But it's felt off ever since his rework, even his turn rate feels different.

which would you say is harder? It took me a while to get fairly decent with blight, but I can never get billy at all and usually regret playing as him. It's annoying that he feels harder to me although blight is stronger. Even improving with nurse feels like a quicker process.
Hard to say, with both you have to know what parts of the environment work well with their power.
Blight has a steep learning curve, to a degree billy does too. But billy isn't meta, the reward for mastering him is lower than that of Blight or nurse.
So in the end I would say hillbilly is harder.

Playing him on a constant basis must be frustrating as hell. Everytime i played him to get the achievment i felt like a punchbag for the survivors. Never again.
Yeah, it is infuriating. But I'm also good with Blight on console, so I have that to fall back on when I get frustrated.

Yes. Just yes billy needs redemption
Many aspects of hillbilly need to be looked at. The majority of his addons suck, his animations suck, and his model is due for a texture overhaul.
I wouldn't have been so upset about overheat if they didn't gut his addons and animations.

Blights release was pretty hype for me because of all the teasing and storytelling they did and i hope they do it again
There was that seducing lady that fed people to pigs right? Let's hear more about her. Or another future killer
Maybe we could hear about how some killers reacted to being experimented on. I'm still wondering how The Blight managed to catch Spirit or nurse for experimentation.

Didn't the lore state that the blight plants show up every Halloween, no outside influence needed?
Besides: As long as there's enough characters lacking a Blighted outfit, then there's a money reason to do another event like it.
Yep, in that aspect BHVR kind of limited what they can do with Halloween events. Not that I'm complaining, I've always loved the blight theme for Halloween :) .
Plus yeah, a lot of survivors and some killers still need those skins. Can't wait to see if they do one with Oni.

Sometimes a 2-2 in a big open map as Doctor, Myers... can feel rewarding.
What i mean is that is not necessarily about the "result" but about the context of the match. The Map + Killer, Gens disposition, Survivor items... all can contribute to how the experience ends feeling.
My theory is that the game would improve if at match end there was more detail, atleast for the player in question, about how he has done in the match. Chases left / won, hits and missed hits, time till hooks...
Right now the player is left with its perception of how things went, and that is an obvious bad idea if someone ends frustrated.
As is a common case in dbd.
Still wish we had personal statistics of any kind.

And to make matters worse most of his addons are trash that do nothing to make the basekit changes more bearable.
And some became stealth addons for some reason... just why?

@Bwsted said:
We almost have it. They just need to call it officially a win condition. They seem reluctant to do so because it's a conditions with some drawbacks.
The goal game balance is 2k2e. The balance point is by definition the draw/tie conditions.
More kills than that are a win. Fewer are a loss.
Pips are irrelevant. The devs literally said that they think rank is currently more of a measure of time played and in the future it will replaces by mmr and just be used as a reward system.
What would the drawbacks be?
Wouldn't it make it at least a little easier to balance things if there were an established win condition?

Don't be afraid to keep playing him, he's a lot more stressful to play as more than ever, but he's still super fun to play as. Try playing him with the Punctured Muffler add-on, it makes overheat feel almost non-existent.
It doesn't cover his other problems with the hitboxes and the animations, but it still makes him feel a lot better to play as.
How much of his basekit did they screw with?
I swear up and down curving and aiming while sprinting always felt different after that update.

They fixed it, only to break it the very next update.

I only started playing him in his prime a few months before his nerfs. He was extremely fun to play and play against. Remember when survivors would complain about seeing only him all the time in red ranks along with Nurse? My how times have changed.
And now they complain about nurse, spirit, blight, etc. Complaining about top killers has always been a thing sadly.
Ah, to be a billy once again in his prime.
-
I remember when there seemed to be new skins every other week. Now it seems like we usually only get new skins with the rifts, and the occassional collection drop.

@Lx_malice said:
What's fun for you? Do you like killers who provide a bit of a challenge to play? Or do you like killers you can get into playing easily? Or do you like a bit of both?
You can join the console Nurse club with me if you're up for the challenge. Quite the challenge to get down but highly satisfying when you do. I must say the bugs do get highly annoying so maybe it wouldn't be as worth it as you'd think.
If you want someone you can easily pick up you can try Ghostface. He's like jumpscare Myers without the wallhacks, but viable on more than just a couple indoor maps. Not hard to play at all and his power can help in chase as well hiding the red stain. He's pretty much just an m1 killer, but imo he feels the easiest/best to midgame with. Not sure how to really describe it, but mindgaming feels smooth and fluid with Ghostface at least for me more than any other killer.
If you'd like a bit of both you can give Billy a try. If you can get past the jank animations and annoying roar he's fairly easy to pick up, but a nice challenge to master as well. Typically you'll start out as a m1ly using your chainsaw mostly for mobility and just m1ing in chase. As you get better you'll feel more confident in back revving and after enough devotion some sick flicks. Landing Billy flicks are hands down THE most satisfying thing in Dbd imo. I mean look at this #########
NUT.
Those are the top 3 killers I've found that are most "right" for me anyway. If I don't have you sold on any of them, then it really just comes down to you playing whoever seems most interesting to you and determining if you can see yourself playing them in the long run. Are they fun and will they stay fun? For the most part at least. Hell even if they don't look like they interest you give them a shot anyways. You'll never really know until you try them. That's really the best way to find out is to just play everyone. Hopefully you end up finding a killer that suits you best. Good luck!
(And if you do have to take a break from Dbd then just do it....if you can. Trust me.)
I used to be a hillbilly main way back when, got pretty good with him too. I loved his aesthetic, his addons, and more importantly how well he performed.
I loved his fast paced gameplay that allowed me to control a match with how fast I could traverse. Mind you I had never played him before, so when I first picked him up... hoo boy, I felt like I had the power of god with how fast i was. Billy was such an enjoyable killer with a pretty balanced basekit to boot.
Then BHVR neutered hi- I mean, "balanced" him.
