BHVR has essentially never done roll backs.
The only roll backs that happen are with the hits I manage to get through pallets :)
-
Wraith, poor man witnessed a genocide and just wanted to get away from it all.
If anyone were to be reformed, it would definitely be him.

idk what you guys are talking about Ive been playing trickster just fine 3-4ks all the time with one 1 slow down perk.
maybe crack open that Aim Lab on steam.
Aim lab can only help so much when he has an alternating throw pattern.
Oh yeah, and I'm on console. We're always the afterthought to whatever BHVR designs.
-
What they should do is make his knife throws centered. As of now they have an alternating throw pattern.
So if they made his throws centered they could keep the recoil and have it be less of an issue.
-
Most likely a bug.
Hard to tell since BHVR has lied in the past about the only changes being in the patch notes.

There's no chance of any future compensation being like the original Legacy. The original Legacy consisted of very specific rewards that depended on who you had dedicated your resources to during the early days. They would have to make way too many reskins for that to ever happen again today. At best, they'll do a charm or shards or something. Maybe a skin for one or two specific characters. But let's be real, it would probably only ever be a charm.
Knowing the quality of modern BHVR rewards, that sounds like something they do.
"Here, you wasted god knows how much time on a ridiculous perk and prestige grind. Have a charm for your troubles."

It doesn't sound like a terrible idea, but A LOT of people would get said cosmetics.
A decent portion of the PC population got the original legacy prestige.
Plus why not, just a neat cosmetic for those who stuck with the god awful grind we have right now.

@Jago said:
Cake weeks, free shards, 4 perks per day for a week and now bloodhunt.. I think they helped the grind for a ton of players already mate.
A very temporary fix, one might add.

@DelsKibara said:
No. ######### that. Even as someone who is a major advocate for reducing the grind, I don't want more exclusive cosmetics because it forces people to grind for them. Making the reduction of the grind ######### USELESS.
My guess is they held a grindy event to get legacy outfits?
-
Plus the alternating throw pattern freaking sucks to deal with on top of the recoil.
-
Dwight looks like a closet gremlin now :(
Nothing like the handsome dude he was in the launch trailer for DBD.
-
No matter what DC penalties are a necessary evil.
It sucks to be on the receiving end when it happens from a crash, but it prevents people from acting like actual children.

Here's the bottom line as I see it now:
Game performance better than after Nemmy and the two patcjed after that, yeah.
Game performance better than before the last chapter, no and we've actually slipped further back while adding a few new bugs as well.
Very hard not to feel disappointed and left to wither away
I had my entire summer break to look forward to playing DBD.
Then BHVR released the RE chapter. Basically prevented me from playing my favorite game for the entire summer.

A killer that has all of their power devoted to the chase. It feels like I can barely do anything against them.
But when their power has aspects devoted to the 1 v 4 and 1 v 1, it feels like their strength is split. Making it more of an even fight in both ends.
-
Before this is taken down could you please link it? I've been wanting to read the lore early.
-
I've always had the idea of a Blight serum harvesting game mode.
Basically survivors would have to harvest putrid serum from the visceral cankers. Then take it to an alchemy station to purify it.
The killers would play relatively the same, but they can also collect serum for their own purposes. But they don't have to purify their serum. The match operates on a 12 minute timer, after it reaches zero the exit gates activate.
Both sides could choose to inject serum for short term bonuses. But with every injection you do you gain a mutation stack. When you gain five stacks you are afflicted with a permanent ( random ) negative status effect. Which could range from a small running speed debuff, to decreased object interaction speeds.
Just something off the top of my head.
-
The lighting looks so wierd now, it's brighter than it used to be. The signs and bending machines now give off colored lights.
Plus they updated the grass to be that of the graphically reworked maps.
Other than that some objects have better textures now.

That's funny, I've got someone in another thread telling me how RPD is ridiculously survivor sided.
They're wrong, RCPD is bad for both sides.
Though most loops heavily favor killers in the aspect that they are short and unmindagameable. With maybe 1 - 2 short mindgameable loops.
The loops that aren't short are usually god pallets that need to be broken.
The map sucks for killer because of the purposefully confusing layout that hinders traversal, and the fact that indoor maps heavily restrict the usage of some powers. Which within itself is also a reason that it sucks for survivors even more.

@Seraphor said:
I think we should have a variety of map designs. All of the original maps are just open fields, with different skins. People may have issues with Haddonfield, The Game, Lerys, Hawkins, etc. but I think they're great changes of pace. (well, minus Haddonfield, it needs some tuning and a retouch, that map is uuugly) Lerys and Hawkins are actually two of my favourite maps.
RPD is very different to the existing maps, and that's a good thing. It might be harder to navigate some parts of it (atm, until you learn it), but that's true for both sides, killer and survivor, so it's not as if it's a huge boon to one side or the other. As you learn it you may find some strong loops (like Haddonfields god house), and those are individual issues in their own right, but the map as a whole is a good thing.
I agree, variety is good, but variety shouldn't mean that gameplay on a map isn't fun for either side.
RCPD was a literal copy and paste job. Which literally made no attempts to make the map fit with DBD's style of looping gameplay.
Yes you can eventually get used to the layout. But it still doesn't change the fact that the map was designed for an entirely different style of play that does not align with how DBD is played.
Nor does it change the fact that the majority of loops on that map are hot garbage for survivors.
-
If you don't like it, don't read it.
As far as I'm concerned they can put as much detail and characterization as they want. As long as it is true to the character they write about.
-
@Dito175 said:
I like the map :(
Guess there's no accounting for taste.
Whatever the case, fact remains that the map is not designed for DBD's gameplay. Regardless of how you feel, the map is poorly designed when put in the frame of DBD map design and balance.

@EvilJoshy said:
Maybe they should give it the bedham treatment. Have like 3-4 variants. Each one has a section walled off for the sake of map traversal.
God, if only.
Having 2 stories to an indoor map is god awful.

That’s what I like. Just because RCPD works in RE2 doesn’t mean it works in DBDs gameplay it’s gameplay is completely different from RE2 so the map doesn’t work for dbd gameplay
Not to mention how RCPD leaves much to be desired when it comes to pallet loops.
Most of which seem to be short and undmindgameable. With some exceptions being short and mindgameable. The few that aren't short are god pallets that need to be broken.
Basically the map sucks for MANY reasons.
-
More than I care to admit
-
Objectively speaking the map was designed with resident evil gameplay in mind. Not one part of the map was made to accommodate DBD's gameplay, and it shows.
Loops are short and unmindgameable at times, and the ones that aren't are usually god pallets that the killers are forced to break.
On top of how hard it is to navigate and find gens as survivor. At least lerys has the blinking lights, but RCPD has nothing to guide you to where the gens are.

what? Dwight looked like a tweaker before the update.
The new dwight looks like a guy who decided to live his life in his closet.
Watch the dbd launch trailer, and tell me it isn't a downgrade from how he looks in it.

Dwight looks like goblin, nothing like the handsome dude from the launch trailer.

1. When he injected the killers with serum the Blight was still a normal person. But he discovered that the serum grants increased strength after being bitten by a rat that was injected with it, and woke up after having apparently kicked the tapper's ass. So it is fair to say he injected himself more to knock out and kidnap the other killers.
2. An eldritch entity ( That is also a living dimension ) is kidnapping killers and survivors from the multiverse to play out a perverse game of cat and mouse. The trials play out inside of the entity, where it constructs trial grounds from the memories of killers. It does this to feed on the emotions provoked by a predator/prey dynamic that causes pain, fear, and sometimes hope.
3. The observer is an individual from a universe where people are much more knowledgable about how the multiverse works. Thus granting them more "technological" prowess in the form of apparently mystical technology. ( this is a logical conclusion from how the observer's auris works ). He himself was seemingly banished into the entity for an as of yet unknown reason. Now he sifts through the memories of survivors and killers alike. Recording them in his journal, While also detailing his unique experiences inside of the entity through many a diary of sorts.
-
There are multiple versions of every killer in the realms.
The multiverse is a thing in DBD, so it would naturally make sense for the entity to pluck multiple of the same useful killer.

Well, that's fair, but a lot of the killers lore already does that. A lot of it is trying to humanize them. Trapper wasn't born like he is in game, years of abuse and manipulation from his father turned him into what he is.
Wraith wasn't born a murderer, he faced the genocide if his people and watched everything he loved die and burn. The killings of the mercanaries just gave him a taste of vengeance, and Azarov tricking him just pushed him over the edge.
Spirit is probably one of the best examples. She is a victim, being manipulated by a force she can't possibly understand.
Oni is just as you said, a product of his time.
But in Clowns case, I don't think he needs a sob story. It just doesn't fit, in my opinion.
Technically clown already had a bit of a sob story. What with him having a bad childhood because his dad blamed him for his mom's death. His backstory doesn't delve too far into it more than that.
But often I find that the tome trailers can sometimes be misleading with what story the tome will actually tell.
Maybe we'll actuslly hear about that serial killer on clown's territory, which we learned about from a rift cosmetic. It seems like too good of a story to just leave it in a cosmetic without elaboration.

That's good. I'm just pointing out they haven't humanized every killer, because I'd I remember right (which I may not be) Doctor wasn't humanized at all. He was pretty despicable from the first entry down to the last.
If I had to guess, it'll be the same for Clown. Probably Trickster too, whenever we get his tome.
True, but sometimes you have to change the formula for killer lore.
Like I said in a comment of mine, having the same formula of "bad man do bad thing because he bad," gets boring very quickly.
You can still have bad people with complex backstories. Like Oni, he's a terrible person because he is a product of his time and environment, as well as him being of an angry temperement. Not because he was born terrible, or all of a sudden became a bad person.
In fact I hope BHVR does more lore like Oni's in the future. It isn't a cut and dry " bad person do bad thing because he bad," and it isn't humanizing him too much either.
Of course you want variety, and sometimes people are just terrible human beings for whatever reason, or sometimes no reason at all.
But with this being a slasher genre, it is getting over played in my opinion.
-
Consider it a blessing from the lord.
I myself would kill for matches that easy, since I've been stuck in red ranks for years now.

This is for profit, not education.
Yes, and creativity is profitable, having the same formula of "bad man do bad thing because uh... he bad." Gets rather boring VERY quickly.
You can't stifle creativity because a small group wouldn't like it.

Yes, you’re right that you’re not, however by doing some tragic backstory, it’s humanising someone who shouldn’t be humanised. In the same way that a movie about person Clown is based on that I will not name that portrays him as anything other than a monster is problematic and disrespectful to the victims.
If they want creative freedom, they shouldn’t base killers on real life evil.
Just because a character is based off of a real killer doesn't mean they shouldn't have creative freedom with that character.
Now if it were a documentary about said real life killer, then sure. Overly humanizing garbage like that would be an actual disservice to the victims. But clown is a work of fiction, distinct and separate from the reality of the person he was inspired from.
If they want to humanize clown in a way, that's their prerogative.

Descend beyond, I was always looking forward to getting the alchemist as a killer. And I loved the theme of the blight events.
And little did I know the blight would turn out to be one of the best killers in the game.

Why do I now think our next plan is to protest for a cowboy hat for Mr bing bong ?
Soon as I read that I just thought of a wraith riding a horse bing his bong to go faster
But true there is no reason why this game should be struggling only thing I can think of is that they hadn't had a team that could code for console and they are doing what they can till they get correct programmers on board ? The fact pc players also state they have issues is yeah really worrying 🐷😬
Well I know what I'm doing for my next post >:D

I picked up Overwatch again recently (big mistake i know) and I forgot about how much better it runs.
I'm kind of in the same situation.
I've been playing a ton of red dead redemption 2. Which runs soooooo much better than DBD despite it being light years ahead in terms of graphics.
-
Kinda sounds like a you problem.
I'm doing just fine, and DBD is still going despite years of people like you saying it's dying.

Oh thank god, and here I was thinking I was gonna be an even bigger clown for playing a bugged killer.

@Mooks said:
It’s not like they have planned the bugs for Clown to appear now. The tome however was planned a long time now.
the bug is also not always there, at least I had one match against a clown where I definitely got hindered by the bottles with the right slowdown effect
and Tuesday midchapter update could very well bring further bug fixes.. or are the patch notes already out?
Usually if something isn't in the patch notes for the ptb it isn't going to be fixed or changed. Which hasn't stopped BHVR from making unannounced changes before.
So who knows, maybe they'll fix him just in time for his tome. But with this being BHVR, I know better than to get my hopes up.

Clown mains? It's all other the people who wants to finish tome who will struggle most.
Even if clown were fixed the tome still wouldn't have gone well for non - clown mains.
He's a hard killer to learn, and his bug is making him damn near useless as a killer.
It's terrible on both ends, thanks to BHVR's typical spaghetti code shenanigans.
-
Oh the horror!!
A killer (gasp), using perks that synergize with their power?!
The nerve of some people, wanting to use perks that work well with their killer.

The coolest in my opinion is the trailer for Descend beyond.
But I love the Blight so that could be bias on my part.
-
Don't move.
There is literally nothing you can do other than stay there. Anything else will result in a loss of that kill.
Just because some people get their panties in a twist doesn't mean you have to play any differently.
