I love everything that's happened in the last month.
Genuinely wish I could quit this game for another.
Part of the crew, part of the ship.

I would pay doublle for a DLC that is released in 9 months rather than 3, to be honest.
Because it's more likely to be more polished than a DLC that is released in crunchtime in 3 months alongside mid chapter updates.
Not to mention that with every mid chapter comes only a handful of changes. Feels like wasted time when major updates come out with such a small amount of changes.

Slow work pace?
Honey, I think you have it backwards.
BHVR is working way too hard and way too quickly. They don't have time to do ######### like bugs in the game because they keep pumping out DLCs every 3 months. They're probably working on a new killer right this second during the actual anniversary event and the bugs.
They need to calm down and change their workflow so they have time to dedicate to non-content related issues. Like bugs and balance changes.
As it stands their work schedule is gonna keep screwing them in the long run. Trading quantity for quality never leads to anything good.
And we have had declining quality in updates for a long while now.

All it would take is one dev who touchs base with us on the forums just to let us know what's happening, sure that's over the top on small issues, but when things are this bad it does so much to help people be patient, they even rally to support you, history has shown this time and again.
Even rainbow six siege gets more dev communication than us, and they have a much more toxic community than us.

@Rivyn said:
This comes down to BHVR's biggest problem.
Their extremely slow work pace. When it takes a game studio months, in most cases years, to fix issues that are plaguing the game, you have a serious problem. Unfortunately, the DbD doesn't have competition, so the devs have no need to actually push out quality work.
Yeah, another one of their issues is an extreme lack of communication with their community.
Only time we ever hear from them is when almo comments on a random post.
-
I wouldn't get your hopes up

I know this a joke post. But I would genuinely love a paragraph killer from deathgarden.
Specifically the stalker because she has a forest vibe about her.

I CAN'T play Blight, it came to a point were the game freezes EVERY TIME you use his power on a chase, one of the strongest killers power is USELESS during chase on console.
Yeah same here, he was literally unplayable unless you never used his power. Even then survivors would still lag the game up.
-
Yeah, some people are like that.
DBD does hardly anything to punish toxic BHVR, and the game gives a lot of wiggle room for survivors to act like trolls.
Most you can do is take it on the nose and move on.

Everything after 4.5.0 is nothing but a disaster...
Or everything after the Deathslinger release... The game went downhill and big time.
Blight was the best designed killer to ever come out.
But his chapter was so buggy, especially the whole hook thing.

feels like that's what's going on. bug ridden mess after mess and more outfits for sales. take the artists and make em playtest on different hardware if they are really just not seeing these bugs until live. boast about hiring more people and release broken crap 4 times a year. over time patience will wear down. Don't matter though got the money for dress up and suckered more in with the dlc.
I would like this game to be around for many more years but this consistent lack of stability is far from conducive to that.
That about sums everything up.

My sentiments exactly, I'm just worried that they can't afford it and they are trapped in a quarterly target cycle that's actually making it impossible to address the 18 foot elephant in their success that lies in the base code.
At this point they can either stop and fix it, prioritizing the games health for longevity. Or keep going and hope everything works in the short term.
So far it doesn't look like they're prioritizing game health.

It is because of the devs the game is where its at. The good and the bad (but a lot more good). If bhvr wasn't handling DBD anymore it wouldn't be DBD.
I don't know their internal workings but maybe if the growth was unexpected they are looking to hire more people onto the team?
Bhvr has done an amazing job growing its game, collecting licenses, and creating original characters. I would hate to see what would happen of some soulless company took it... loot boxes, shrine gone, out of control balance changes. Talk about a nightmare!
I would consider a bug ridden mess that barely runs on console a nightmare too.

Under a different team? No.
With a different team supplementing the current one? Yes.
The current team has created an excellent idea, and that's not something to scoff at. Dead by Daylight is an incredible idea with incredible potential. However, I do agree that it seems that the current team is unable to give it what it needs in order to realize that potential.
That is why I would be interested in BHVR outsourcing some of the coding and optimizing to a different team, but maintaining the design process in-house.
Definitely a better idea than handing it off. Not sure if another company would monetize it as much as BHVR already has though.

They get defended by regulars with high post counts on these forums.
Orion, TheClownisKing, there are others I'm forgetting.
Attacking a company or it's devs is wrong.
Offering valid complaints is completely within reason, especially for a company that's screwed up as much as BHVR.
People on the forums often mistake valid complaints with attacks.

Orion is demonstrably false as well, they still haven't fixed the lag despite them "wOrKiNg On It" AND the anniversary event has bugs as well.
No other company consistently ads major issues every single update.
I've been with this game for 4 years, no other company has screwed up this much and are still being defended as much as BHVR.
If it were any other company I guarantee it would be different.

If Twins get a map in the future, I hope it's the first two-story outdoor map. That being a French village and sewer system underneath, as in their lore.
Could be tricky to implement but it'd be so cool.
The idea I had for Blight's map would be Dyer island ( the prison camp he had a secret lab in )
Basically the upper area would be the prison camp itself, while the underground area would be the Blights secret lab.

The 3 recent chapters in a row is not handling the game well.
Not to mention console getting shafted with this update and its hotfixes.
-
@Orion said:
I disagree, and I think it's a testament to BHVR's ability to handle the game that it has only grown since launch, despite people saying stuff like what you just said all the time.
I disagree with your disagreeing, I know the devs are trying their best. But this update has highlighted the reasons BHVR isn't capable to me anymore.
They released a buggy as hell chapter ( again x9??) That made the game near unplayable for console users as a result of spaghetti code they have refused to clean up for years. The update even made PC players lag, which is a testament to how they can make even high end PC's struggle to run DBD.
Even with subsequent hotfixes it made the lag worse on consoles. While at least helping with PC's issues, if the forum goers aren't wrong.
Now they've activated what is supposed to be one of the 2 BIG events of the year. Only for that event to rob you of spent bloodpoints and shards, and the main objective of that event to be non functional on certain original characters. Not to mention how the event is a copy/paste of last years event with some extra stuff duct taped on. Yes they fixed those bugs, but it shouldn't have released in that state in the first place.

Billy is my guilty pleasure, I just love the backwoods hillbilly killer theme.

Well, RIP deathslinger in shack.

@Razorbeam said:
It's getting to the point where if we don't get some real form of communication from BHV soon regarding it everyone on console at least who purchased the chapter needs to get in touch with capcom about buying something so broken that you trusted because it had resident evil associated with it.
Mmm boy, that's asking for a lot from BHVR. They haven't properly communicated with us in some time.
The most we get is the odd comment from Almo on an unimportant post.
-
@van9684 said:
No. You are responsible for your choices and behaviors. Stop blaming others. Fact is most killers only care about getting an easy 4K. Any opposition and they feel personally offended and start whining. It’s so weird.
Well any killer would enjoy an easy 4k at the hands of an incompetent team. Especially with survivors who unhook when the killer's within a decent distance.
I've enjoyed easy games at the hands of such teams. I've also been through unfun games at the hands of teammates who would rather unhook me when the killer is near.
Ultimately it's the killers choice whether or not they go after the unhooker. But for that choice to be present under those circumstances the unhooker needs to be there. Instead of letting the unhooked be the only choice for a chase.
But that only happens during an unsafe hook. Otherwise that whole dilemma doesn't occur, and the survivors don't have to get their panties in a twist over some rule they think actually matters.
-
Ooooo a jack the ripper theme would be amazing.
-
My favorite line of cosmetics are the Blighted ones from the halloween events.
-
Yeah, that about sums my feelings on the matter.
This was supposed to be an event with "Extra effort". As in extra effort put in to make it extra buggy for that well known BHVR touch.
-
@Boss said:
Yeah, not impressed with the first day.
And that's me leaving out everything but the event.
Gameplay wise, event is the completely the same.
Outside of that we have a rotating shrine. Which is cool, but useless since I've already grinded the perks.
The login rewards, and also the addition of a ludicrous amount of bugs.
In summary, a mostly typical BHVR event.

Honestly the RPD is the most iconic spot in RE. If there were to be any map from the RE franchise, it would either be this or the mansion from RE1.
The least they could have done is cleaned up the layout to make it a better experience for DBD.
What works for one franchise will not work for DBD. Especially as far as confusing resident evil map design goes.

Yep, last anniversary had a special lobby and music.
And we got nothing this year. But don't worry, BHVR put extra effort into this event :)

This is pretty good and i like most of it. Idk if fixing spawns and adding an early game collapse is enough to warrant nerfing gen regression perks though, that seems like a crazy trade off. Should be thoroughly tested AT HIGH RANKS first before going live

Yep for some reason it's always someone else's fault.
It's your decision to go back to the hook after someone is unhooked.
Either you are already close enough to see both Survivors running away or hiding, or you are 50/50'ing whether you find the unhooked or the unhooker with it being more likely you find the unhooked because of sound and blood.
The Killer makes this decision, putting the blame on the unhooker for not being able to find them is completely assinine.
I have been in every position in that situation, and I can definitively say that if the unhooker doesn't take the killer's attention. Then they have no better options than to go after the recently unhooked survivor.
Would you have the killer simply abandon the chase just so they don't look like an A - hole?
-
@HaunterofShadows said:
eeeeeeeeehhh like there's tunneling and then running into the same survivor again on ######### luck
Yeah, plus for the hook situation there isn't really anything better the killer can do.
They can either abandon the unhooked survivor and look for the unhooker, risking a large amount of pressure in the process. Or go after the injured guy and hook them again with the risk of DS being in play.
Really you can only blame the teammate for not taking the heat off of the injured guy.

I understand the difficult situation you are in, but quite honestly, that's not going to be good enough for people anymore.
They were told it was being worked on in March of 2019 (and even before).
When every other promise has been broken, and every other acknowledgement has yielded nothing, people aren't going to be satisfied with that anymore.
They'd like something more tangible. Improvements they can see.
Glad to see you're still commenting :)

That was a pretty unique case where someone was able to distort the facts and create an illusion that BHVR was callous/carrying some animus towards a marginalized group. The story didn't matter because of DBD, it mattered because of sympathy for said group.
"Distort the facts"
BHVR had essentially up to that point said "we're working on it," for years. With no indication that they actually were until they went into damage control mode.
I don't know about you, but I find it extremely convenient that they finally had something to show for it after they got called out by the community.

I´m sorry but hasn´t the optimisation campaign supposedly started march 2019? It may not be an easy fix but it´s been almost 2,5 years of "working on it" so it´s safe to assume the team is either unable or unwilling to deliver on their promise of 60 fps on all platforms without the presence of outside pressure, at least that´s how bhvr was pushed to implement colorblind settings.
For the most part it really gained traction after "That" dev snapped at his viewers on stream.
