Well, sadly it's not a AAA game like Cyberpunk or Star Wars Battlefront 2 where it actually was on news sites that eventually led to action being taken. Suppose it could be argued that content that was paid for is faulty and half of it is not available, in addition to optimization issues dating years back now, but nothing will happen because the Devs don't have EA or Cd Projekt red status.
Neither of those companies are known for releasing good content right now. I wouldn't want their status either.

Wait until they fix the optimisation that they're working on right now.
Otherwise they'll just say "oh we fixed it now" in a few weeks when it's still ######### on last gen consoles.
I've been living in a a cycle of "they're going to fix it next update," for 4 years now.
I'm tired of waiting for something that may or may not happen.

Whilst I completely understand your frustration - we have acknowledged the performance issues and advised that it's being worked on. It's not something that's being ignored. Sadly, it's not an easy fix and whilst small fixes have been implemented up to know (including today's hotfix which should have resolved the "out of memory" issue), we are aware that other fixes need to be done and the team is working on these.
I'm not talking about the stuff that was introduced with the last update. I'm talking about the stuff that's been around for years now.
Remember 2 years ago when the devs said they were shooting for 60fps on every available console? I sure do, and have they fulfilled that statement?
-
Console is an afterthought to BHVR, both in terms of balancing killers like Oni, Billy, and Blight. But also in balancing ranged killers as well.
Poor optimization just makes playing those killer 50x worse.

I once tried to dead hard over a bear trap. The game lagged out, and once it stopped I was caught in the trap.
10/10 would do again.

It was an amazing game, one of the best asymmetrical games I've ever played. I loved the fast-paced action, freedom of movement (i.e.: parkour), and weapons. It is indeed a damn shame.
It looked like most of the problems DBD had didn't apply to Deathgarden. Everyone had mobility, the hunters felt powerful.
Feels odd that it failed.

I'd be down for a Deathgarden chapter. I wasn't too much into the game itself but I did like the way everything looked. Shame how the game ended up.
I especially love how the stalker looks, she would be a perfect killer for DBD.

LGBT = Colorful? See that's a stereotype right there.
Doesn't really help that stereotype if the pride flag is a rainbow .

Think they might've only fixed it for PC. Which wouldn't be surprising.

Have you seen the reworked version of Nea
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2319174#Comment_2319174
Yep, I mean, they don’t have do go out of their way to make extreme ugly characters. But more everyday people. I guess Jeff, Dwight, Claudette, Min are quite good examples of not being overly attractive.
Of course that’s all subjective. And something like Quentin and Cybil is not meant to be ugly but just modeled poorly. So that doesn’t count for me either
Yeah, still looked ugly but in HD.
I think something is wrong with her in game face rigging. Looking at the non in game model looks fine, but putting her in DBD's engine somehow makes her face look like a human frog.
-
Well you see, the problem is you have expectations about BHVR. No matter what you expect about BHVR they will no doubt find a way to disappoint you.
Hell, I even had zero expectations once, and they still managed to disappoint me.

Yes, all I want is an elderly woman (Bill's age) and more survivors who aren't considered "attractive" by society's standards.
Although I'm sure if a survivor isn't good looking, that means less sales on cosmetics so maybe they're afraid to go down that route?
I dunno, they already have Nea for the ugly survivor route.

Personally, I feel that all forms of entertainment in this day and age have adopted a philosophy that every race, gender and sexuality have to be perfectly represented in every film, game or television show. This is not realistic and it's amazingly bland and lacks artistic integrity. A story of any type, should not try and force an ideal into it just because. In fact, the best stories are ones that form organically, without agenda's shoved into them.
For example, John Carpenters, The Thing did not have a single female character in the entire movie, yet it was still a great movie. Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon didn't have a single Caucasian character in it and it was great.
Another example is Supergirl TV show. It has every race, gender and sexuality represented in it and you feel like there's an agenda trying to be shoved down your throat. It doesn't make the TV show any better, in fact it's a detriment to the show a lot of times.
I'm gay. I like Supergirl the TV show. However, it would be better served just telling a story instead of trying to shoe-horn all this political agenda stuff into it when it really doesn't need it most times.
Plus the story of DBD hardly ever focuses on a character's sexuality.
When it does, it's usually because it highlights a part of chatacter lore, or it's important in how they became a survivor or killer.
If they do it, I would prefer they do it through a new character. Instead of slapping a pride flag on existing characters and calling that representation.

Either haddonfield or swamp.
Mostly hoping for haddonfield because it's plain BS.
-
Kind of along the same lines as optimization.
BHVR said something 2 years ago that they have no intention of going through with.

Nope. Devs don't care. Probably don't even understand what makes a map unbalanced.
Apparently not, probably part of the reason they kept the house of pain on Badham.

Just take off a perk and slap on bond. You're making a bigger deal out of this challenge than it needs to be.
Your refusal to use bond is like you shooting yourself in the foot, then complaining that it hurts when you walk.
-
It had so much style, it's a shame that consoles run on low. Otherwise I might be able to appreciate it more.

Yeah, of all the map reworks to this day, Coldwind was the most disappointing for me. Farm maps were known as extremely survivor sided since the day the game first launched. And even though they received changes througout the years (specially the 2020 change that fixed their worst loops) and became less unbalanced than they were before, they were still among the worst maps to play as killer.
Since killers complained about this maps for so long, I thought behavior was going to fix them with the rework. But instead, they didn't change a lot, and some of the stuff they changed just made them worse. To talk about the three worse ones:
Fractured Cowshed is still one of the most safe maps for survivors, and one of the worst in the whole game to play as killer. It's just slightly better than Haddonfield, and only because Lampkin Lane has those safe windows in the houses. To make it worse, now it has breakable walls on the previously fixed loops.
Rotten Fields has the same issues it had before.
Thompson's House got probably the biggest change out of these. While I'm not sure about the rest of the map (I really need to play more on it. Didn't have many chances yet), I can say the house itself got clearly stronger for the survivor's side. On the other hand, the loops around it feel easier to play around. But survivors who know how strong the house is will use to waste more of the killer's time.
I really like the look of the map, just such a damn shame it sucks to play on for killers
Especially since coldwind isn't conducive to many killer powers.

The most optimised games out there get huge issues with RT. Can you imagine this game with RT? Oh my god, I guess its a good ad for nvidia when they come out with the 7090ti though
I don't even think next gen could handle Ray tracing.

One final round of clips from me. I'll still stockpile them if I play, but I may give them @Shdw_Void to post.
That one was less lag and more rage DC.
This one was with @Shdw_Void and I when we were testing the RCPD. He crashed about 20 seconds in.
Yay, more Dead Hard lag.
There's a lot of things wrong with this one. I don't even see how I hit her in the first place and then I literally didn't see where she went.
No easy hits here.
I think it actually worked for once.
This how SoT runs in one of it's most stressful sections. Compare it to DBD.
And finally, here's Star Wars Battlefront II, a game that looks lightyears better than DBD and is massively larger, running extremely well. This clip is from my old Xbox One, which is from 2013.
THERE IS NO REASON THAT DBD CAN'T BE OPTIMIZED FOR CURRENT GEN CONSOLES.
Even RDR2 runs much better than DBD. Which is lightyears ahead of DBD in terms of graphics
BHVR has no excuse for poor optimization when crap like that can run near perfectly.

You just got a down right at the start of the match from this. Seems fine to me.
Well he's a trickster, so that's issue #1.
#2 would be the fact that the jake now knows where the totem is. He will most likely be gunning for that totem whenever he has the ability to.

Can't be any worse than the one on top of the hill on autohaven.
Literally like a beacon if it becomes the hex. It ain't even tucked against a rock, it's essentially on the center of the hill.

Not to mention, when they DO stream these days (Q&A, I'm looking at you), they only give very vague replies. I get that they try to remain ambiguous so as not to make any unkept promises, but it is HORRIBLE how they handle it. They just bring on someone who is like "I am not in that department so I can't say :)" or "We cannot speak on this at the moment" and just overall halfass the entire streams these days.

It wouldn't be considered changing current characters since there isn't any sexuality confirmed.
Felix, Oni, Legion.
Possibly more depending on if I'm too lazy to read more lore.
-
None, I've been playing this game for 1149 hours and I still suck.
-
Pretty sure they aren't going to make any of their already existing characters gay in any form.
That would be an announcement that wouldn't satisfy anybody. Previously they stated they want to make a character like that the right way. Instead of just arbitrarily changing characters for the sake of representation.
-
More pallets than meat on that map.
-
He's fine, he isn't up there with nurse or Blight in how strong he is.
He still has the same counters as before. Plus he's always had that uncloaking speed boost, so I don't understand why people are being butthurt about it now.

The realm beyond exists to make people go”ooh pretty”. You already bought the game, you don’t really matter anymore.
I kinda already got that feeling when they took a sledgehammer to Billy's nuts last year.

@van9684 said:
The ones you mentioned are the issues. Every map that gets reworked comes back better for killers and much worse for survivors. Less pallets, windows gone or boarded up, and these weird dead zones with nothing. Like farm maps. There’s 3-4 sections with just hay and teepees. With a faster killer and range attacks, those areas are a death sentence.
Tell that to coldwind, it got it's bad tree loops replaced with very good unmindgameable hay loops.
Not to mention the breakable walls that got added to some of the main buildings.
-
Dead zones are necessary filler, otherwise we would have pallet after pallet after pallet.
Which already isn't fun to deal with on The Game, so I don't see why it would be fun on any other map.

The new Halloween movie is being released in October, so it would be the perfect time to have an update heavily focused around it. We desperately need a rework to Laurie’s face, Haddonfield rework, and some buffs for Myers, while removing his bullshit add ons.
In addition to this, we could have some new cosmetics for them, maybe even an older Laurie as a legendary cosmetic. Give us an event to celebrate one of the most iconic horror franchises!
I feel like the Blight theme for the halloween event is too deeply ingrained into the lore to just not do.
However an update themed around it wouldn't be bad. Haddonfield desperately needs balancing and lorie is as ugly as nea.

I cant believe they actually want to add ray tracing. RT plus this game will make nasa computers crumble to their knees
Yeah I can't see that going wrong at all. Nope, no sir.

@Hermit said:
Well, let's take a look at the last killers released and how they interact with pallets and windows:
- Nemesis, can hit over pallets and windows
- Trickster, can hit over pallets and windows
- Twins, Victor can hit over pallets and windows
- Pyramidhead, can hit over pallets and windows
- Deathslinger, can hit over pallets and windows
Since 1,5 years only Blight has to outplay a pallet or window in a creative way. Against all others you should drop early or you are going to get hit in most loops, not all loops but a lot of them.
Might wanna remove deathslinger's pallet part. Yes he can shoot you over pallets, but usually he can't hit you over one. Most of the time you'll get free because deathslinger can't drag you the way he wants without breaking the chain.

Hey all,
Due to recent circumstances, I find myself uninterested in continuing my DBD experience both on the Forums, and on the live game.
As such, I'l be quitting both for the foreseeable future. Don't ask why I was jailed, I don't think I can tell you and some of you probably already know.
I hope you all keep the thread going in my absence, this issue remains near and dear to me, I may upload some final clips.
Love you guys,
Pulsar
Damn, sad to see ya taking a break. Gonna miss you buddy.
And by the way, thanks for keeping that list going back in december. Didn't really have the ability to tha k ya then, but I do now.
Hope you come back to a much smoother dbd experience.

I miss when his addons weren't crap. Plus it feels like they messed with the numbers of his basekit too much.
I just want my boy to be feel good to play again :(

New game modes require a lot more effort to create than events, why would they tie one to the other? Plus, the bigger problem is that they just don't do events, not that the events are bland.
The reason I think they should do alternate game modes for events is because it frees up time later.
Each year they redo events, why not just design a single special mode that will make the event feel special, but also make it so they don't have to invest so much into that event again?
Yes it would take effort, but by the end it would make DBD events actually feel awesome and allow the devs to focus on other stuff when the events roll around.
-
Devs still have a long way to go to balance loops. So no.

Blight harvest
The match has a 10 minute timer, at the start 6 visceral cankers spawn. Survivors must harvest raw serum and purify it at alchemy stations. It takes 10 seconds to make purified serum, and the more you have by the end of the match. The more of a bloodpoint bonus you gain.
Killers stay very much the same, but they can harvest raw serum from cankers and cancerous hooks.
Survivors can choose to use their purified serum for short term bonuses, such as a small boost in speed, or the ability to break a single breakable wall.
Killers can use raw serum for short term bonuses as well. They can gain the ability to one hit down somebody, gain a brief haste effect, or increased breaking speeds.
Bonuses gained from injecting serum are randomized.
A random hook on the map becomes cankerous every 20 seconds. Every time a visceral canker is fully harvested it takes 30 seconds for another to grow.
When the 10 minutes are up the exit gates open, allowing those still alive the chance to escape.

Every Chapter EVER has been jam packed with bugs. I feel they DO listen to the community and Do a lot for us. And at the end of the day this is the ONLY game of its kind. name a game where we get all these beautiful creations. Bugs.... they'll be fixed eventually as always. I just feel like a lot of the community is over reacting as this has been the case since i have joined this community.
We've had to deal with this crap for 5 years straight now. BHVR usually only listens to the community when they screw up and everybody gets angry. Otherwise BHVR does what BHVR wants, as many changes in the game have proved.
Part of the issue is that this is the only game if its kind. That means there is no competition, also meaning BHVR has no incentive to have good quality control. They can do whatever the hell they want and we'll come crawling back because there is no other game like this.
I love this game, but it deserves so much better than indie devs who can't handle rapid growth.
-
It would be nice if there were good to take the bad with.
Lately the devs have been completely ignoring key issues and community feedback. For one, optimization sucks, for another the recent chapters have been underwhelming.
Plus essentially every chapter so far has been jam packed with bugs. Some impacting major aspects of gameplay. If it were to only happen every now and then, it would won't be such a problem. But it happens nearly every chapter release.
As I see it the devs deserve the harsh criticism they're receiving.
-
Mobility is a massive game changer for the killers that have it.
There are some who have diet mobility, which is to say a teleportation ability like freddy or demogorgon.
I would prefer that they make another mobility killer of some kind. It can be a movement type thing like with Blight, Oni, and Billy. Or the teleportation.
What is key is that they can get across the map fast in some way.
-
@SilentPill said:
I would not see a 4K as a win. I would see a 3k as a win, since the game is designed to let the last survivor escape. Going for the 4K every game is a huge waste of time unless someone annoyed you enough to slug for it.
The reason I see a 4k as a win is because it's the only clear win that killers have. Any other win condition you can think of can be heavily debated as to whether or not it's actually a win.
-
Well the thing is if you nerf it it's garbage. Before its buff it was more of a thing you'd run for the memes, but now it's actually useful.
