What if new game modes were reserved for events?

If BHVR were to make new game modes for events only, then that could allow them to both make events feel special, and be creative with the theme of the event. As a side effect they would no longer have to invest so much time into events. Since the alternate game modes could be there every time the events roll around.

For instance, the idea for a blight themed game mode has been rolling around my head for a while.

Basically survivors main objective would be to harvest serum under a timer of 10 - 15 minutes. They would harvest visceral cankers, and purify the raw serum at alchemy stations. The more serum players have by the end of the match, the more of a bonus they recieve to their bloodpoints post match. As well as receiving putrid serum for filling up vials in a match.

Survivors could choose to inject some purified serum for short term benefits. Such as a brief haste status effect, the ability to break a breakable wall, or lift a dropped pallet.

Killers would function essentially the same. But they can harvest serum as well, only without the requirement of purifying it. They can harvest from visceral cankers, and cankerous hooks. Both of which grow throughout the match at specific intervals.

Killers injecting serum can recieve the ability to one hit down a single survivor, a brief haste effect, or an increase to action speeds.

Just an idea, but I think it's a neat suggestion.

  • I love the idea of event game modes. Anything to break up the samexold same old

  • New game modes require a lot more effort to create than events, why would they tie one to the other? Plus, the bigger problem is that they just don't do events, not that the events are bland.

The reason I think they should do alternate game modes for events is because it frees up time later.

Each year they redo events, why not just design a single special mode that will make the event feel special, but also make it so they don't have to invest so much into that event again?

Yes it would take effort, but by the end it would make DBD events actually feel awesome and allow the devs to focus on other stuff when the events roll around.

There's only 2 events they put anything remotely resembling effort into. Having 2 game modes a year for a week apiece doesn't seem worth the months of development time it would take, you'd be running a time-deficit for years.

If they're going to add game modes, they should just add them on a permanent basis.

  • YES. FOR THE LOVE OF ######### I WOULD LOVE THIS
