It doesn't look like they're fixing Spirit either, because she should have been addressed this patch. So yayyy, no mindgames at pallet loops.
Did you report any bugs with the Spirit? I see a lot of complaining on General Discussions, but I didn't see any bug reports regarding sounds that killers can hear. The section's name isn't a coincidence; bug reports go in the bug report section.
-
Seems two killers posted a bug report (each) while I was browsing, but did anyone report these sound bugs before?
-
Fix generators. Done.

Longer duration doesnt mean much when the actual distance between survivor and killer doesnt shrink as fast as before.
@Orion ran some math and mentioned the new frenzy being unable to reach a survivor running in a straight line away from you if that survivor is more than 10m away from you when you cast frenzy. Not to mention the huge fatigue time afterwards.
Now add collision, loops etc into the equation. If you dont flank the survivor, or surprise them, frenzy is gonna be countered by "running away from the killer"
Sorry Orion
😉
Believe it or not, the minimum distance used to be some 7 meters. It's marginally better, with 115% movement speed to boot.

@Orion Well escaping is a survivor objective, opening gates is not a killer objective it's a survivor one as well, so I'm thinking that they had in mind that the killers can steal that objective from them.
Opening the gates alone already deprives survivors of those points, which is the point - force survivors to open the gates ASAP and GTFO. Giving killers points for doing it is simply because all successful actions come with points, by design.
-
Definitely not. ######### Starbreeze.
-
@Kurisataru said:
The fact that killers can be awarded points for doing it confuses me. I guess it's just snipping points away from survivors? Is that what some of these devs have in mind? Make it so that survivors and killers can yank points away from each other end game or something?
Either way survivors wouldn't get points, since they weren't the ones to open the gates.
Survivors "yank points away" from killers by escaping, but I don't see anyone complaining about that.

And do you think Orion that survivors are just a bots that don't move?
No, I'm just providing information. Before, it was something like 7 meters. With the increased movement speed, you should be able to get close enough to get one hit in. This seems to be what the developers are aiming for in regards to most M1 killers - one hit, and the rest is up to you.
-
@Ihatelife said:
Feral Frenzy duration increased to 10 seconds XDDD 10 seconds is literally nothing if you want to play intentionally, but okay let's see.
You get 50 meters out of it, as opposed to the ~32 meters you previously had. Of course, since you're so much slower, that might be an issue.
EDIT: I just did the math, if the survivor runs in a straight line from exactly 10 meters away or more, you will not catch up to them, assuming you're not running any add-ons.

There are no players in Africa, so this is not a problem ... Aus people deserve their own servers
Yeah, there are. Besides, the devs have already said that they'd look into getting more servers if the current ones were deemed too few.

So you would rather they butcher the gameplay for the 99% instead?
That simply doesn't work and why it's not been done.
I'd rather people didn't try to use "this is broken" as an excuse for breaking everything or keeping things broken.

Maybe I'm spoiled by Overwatch having frequent patches to fix bugs and exploits asap but I honestly think DbD should update balance when necessary, not every 3 months or so.
They tried that, and people complained that the game had too many "irrelevant" updates.

That only works when they properly seperate the user base.
Take the games such as overwatch, LOL, cs:go etc they don't put newbies in with the best players.
Dbd on the other hand does and resets it each month so it may be 101 in those above but not in this game.
That's an issue with the ranking system, which does not get resolved by butchering the game's balance.

I mean,we could put the changes on the PTB and see how it plays out.
Why, when we already have the outcome of a similar mechanic to go off of? Creating a new interface takes time.

Literally 90% of survivor perks are viable.
Doesn't matter. Survivors dodged when they were able to see their teammates' ranks, this won't be any different.

@twistedmonkey said:

That would be true if you could pip by only doing gens and getting out.
The fact the devs want people to play around says otherwise.
You simply can't balance a game around what can happen when it doesn't as that means 99% of the playerbase loses out.
It's a game it is meant to be fun and balancing the game around the 1% would remove most of the fun.
The same goes for balancing around the 1% of killer who steamroll survivors in 3 mins, could you imagine if they balanced the killer side on them?
Marth himself has made rank 1 killer multiple times perkless but for some reason that doesn't show how people actually play.
Balance isn't just about making it adhere to the worst case but finding the middle ground, balance needs enought weight at either end so neither side falls.
All games should be balanced at the top. This is game design 101. Balance for casuals, and mid ranks will be balanced, while the game will be severely tilted one way or the other at the top.

Easy 2000. See you in a year.

Except it will exacerbate, as long as bodyblocking the basement is a thing. Because from then on, if someone's hooked in the basement during endgame and the killer wants to exploit it, that means, guaranteed, one death, and if survivor rescues while the killer wants to exploit it, it's, guaranteed more than one death. All a killer has to do is wait for someone to be in the basement, and stand in their way so they can't get out until the timer runs out (or until they can't possibly reach the gate before the timer runs out).
Now, personally, I'm fine with killers bodyblocking the basement to wait out Borrowed Time and the like... it's a bit scummy, but it's not game breaking, but I think bodyblocking the basement to wait out the endgame timer is way too much.
Unless of course they alter the basement bodyblocking thing along with the collapse (either changing the whole mechanic, or making it so, for example, while the killer's in the basement/on the stairs, the collapse timer stops, or the killer loses collision during the endgame phase)
Well, not many killers do this, so it's fine. (Same argument is used to ignore how the survivors dictate the pace of a trial, as well as a bunch of other balance problems)

I love that the whole "no sirvivor plays like this" is still a thing
Obviously survivors dont play like this if they dont need to. But they could, anytime. Which could be counted as a problem with the balance.
It is a problem with the balance. The fact that most survivors aren't playing efficiently is no excuse not to balance them according to their most efficient strategy.
-
Survivors cannot become killers. Nowhere is that in the lore. If you were familiar with the lore, you'd know that.

How did they abuse it? You shouldn't judge it by select pro players, this solution will work out normally in general ranking games, wherein strangers play with each other.
They were strangers playing with each other, and games should be balanced at the top.
-
The survivors could also decide to leave the Entity's realm. It'd probably end up the same way.

@Orion That's actually funny, I had a hag 100% tryharding on the weekend as 2 people DC'd instantly and I was left with my friend and I was running to pallets and throwing them down for her and pointing at them for her to break and she continued to chase and try to kill me. It was beautiful, I wasn't even angry she killed us both, we were just laughing because she was trying so hard and had ruin and we weren't even trying to escape at that point because we just wanted the match to end. These matches need to stop though, no point, you can't DC, you can't get points, you depip anyway.
If you wanted the game to end, you could've just stood still. I think it's quite clear what you wanted.

Do not report for disconnecting, those bans are handled automatically.
-
You can't see temporary bans on Steam; only permanent ones. And it wouldn't surprise me if some of your reports were for things that are not actually rule-breaking.
-
They probably have a bug priority list. Personally I'd say crashes and infinite loading screens, which actually prevent people from playing the game, are slightly more important than the grab bug.
-
@ImColtina said:
I agree. Maybe the person could die slower if the killer is right next to the Survivor on the hook?
Already tried and abused by survivors. Try thinking of rewarding the killer for not camping instead of punishing the killer for securing a kill.

They really don't. This is the video game equivalent of an ongoing investigation.

Again, I hear you, but this isn’t the chance I’m talking about when I say the hooked survivor should “have a chance.” Just the same as we could say flipping a coin to get unhooked could be considered “chance,” but we probably wouldn’t agree it would make for a fun game. The kind of chance I mean isn’t that “it’s within the realm of possibility,” but more of “even against defensive playing killers, good survivors should have reasonably feasible ways to rescue against good killers.” I don’t believe that what they have right now is that
Except they do. Personally, I think it's absurd that in an asymmetrical game, a small number of the supposedly weak role can overwhelm the supposed power role, but that's just me.

I understand what you’re saying. In COD your chance to win runs out the second you get headshot. But in this game it’s a bit tougher to nail down where chance should end. I don’t think it ought to be the second you hit the hook.
You still have a chance to be unhooked. It happens sometimes (the very definition of "chance" implies that it's not something that happens all the time).
-
It's random. There are plenty of other perks you're not getting, but you don't notice those because you're only focused on one.

F**k you're right.
In all seriousness, survivors say they want "a chance", but what they really want is certainty. They had "a chance" to not be found. They had "a chance" not to be hit. They had "a chance" not to be hit a second time. They had "a chance" to wiggle free. They had "a chance" to be unhooked. However, because those things didn't happen, they don't think they had "a chance".

If this "experiment" had been done in rando lobbies, I'd be more willing to accept its findings, but cherry-picking 4 survs who've been playing since release and then acting like it's how the average survivor plays is seriously flawed. Besides, I'm skeptical of anyone who puts "one of the best killers in the game" in their Twitch profile.
That's not the point of the experiment. The point is to show that survivors are the ones who dictate how trials go; not killers. This is the reverse of what an asymmetrical game should be.
