This can be abused for a free unhook. Also what about maps with more than one floor. Such as Midwich or The Game. The killer could be above or below the hook but they will still be within 10 meters. Face camping already has a solution. Stay on the hook for as long as possible, do gens and get out.
the solution to facecamping shouldn’t just be “do gens and get out” and your teammate just dies. That’s no fun for anybody. Facecamping needs to be more heavily discouraged as it ruins new players experiences and veterans as well. It’s a stupid “strategy” that should have no place in this game.

Get chased, just dont play that chase the same way you would any other killer. You actually have to chamge up how you play, what perks you take. The game evolves imagine that.

I mean im still waiting on the MMR they said would be coming "next month"
That was said in May.
The fact that they won't be showing anything for the new MMR system makes me think that they're not going to change anything.
There's no objective way to determine skill in this game unless you're watching them play.

The funny thing is the matchmaking is meant to have a 6 rank hard cap but they disabled it around Christmas last year to make sure people got the fastest possible matches and never quite fixed it since.
Yeah they do kind of have a double-edged sword pointing at them right now.
They can either turn the cap back on and get longer queue times, leading to even more people complaining about not finding a game, or they can keep it the way it is and constantly deal with matchmaking complaints.
I'm hoping that crossplay can help resolve this issue, but I'm not getting my hopes too far up.

While its true that set up killers are often using them, that much time to just totem hunt is a LOT
Totem hunting doesn't do anything if they aren't running any hex perks? Sure you can get your bloodpoints but that doesn't progress the game at all.

As someone who has played since release and consistently red ranks on both sides, I can say very confidently that when I see corrupt as a surv, my team and I just play a bit passively at start, focus more on our positioning and pregame (chests/totems), and then enjoy a killer who is now missing a crucial part of their kit. Not only is the killer now playing with only 3 perks, but their arguably most important perk, their gen protection, has been removed. Pop on the other hand will always have value. It can lock down sections of a map and give you incredible flexibility later game. The best way to determine a perk's strength is usually flexibility. Whichever perks can provide the most general strength are the ones that are often seen in the meta. Old ruin for example, always wasted time. Either the survs slowly struggled through gens or they wasted time hunting the totem. BBQ will always provide aura reading. Perks like these really can't ever be useless, so they have far more value and very little counterplay
You can play passively at the start of the game if you want, but most killers that are using corrupt are set up killers so you are literally playing into their hands by not doing gens for that 2 minutes. Corrupt is far from a low tier perk.

Oh no, stretched resolution is 100% cheating. Everyone knows that.
Well in that case if you think it's cheating, I would definitely say a crosshair isn't the most "fair" thing, as it was clearly not intended.
-
I feel like this is in the same vein as stretched resolution. Nobody really cares, but some people will still freak out about it.

Incoming Stalk(Shape) and Crouch(Pig) with huge cooldown ability
Lmao Michael's eyes get tired after staring at somebody for too long and has to take a short break, and Pig's knees get exhausted from being in crouch for too long requiring her to stand up again

That's what made me move to the forums.
I used to scroll through the DbD reddit expecting people to actually have discussions about the game, but all I got was smiling Meg memes, and shirtless Myers.

Do you think Corrupt is also good for other killers? 😀
Like Legion for example
I think Corrupt can be good on any killer.
Legion though, might actually be the one exception.
As Legion you want the survivors to be grouped up at the start of a match so you can hit as many people with your frenzy as you can, and with corrupt, survivors tend to spread out at the start of the match making it harder to chain hits.

It puts me with a rank 10 killer and survivors around that level.
Literally possible to win. Even though the killers bad everyone just ends up on the floor. You can run the killer for a few minutes but gens still barely move because everyone wants to hide about.
I see truetalent and others here have the same experience. Not sure if its worldwide or just the EU servers
It's worldwide, just as bad in the US. The amount of games me and my red rank friend will play against a red rank killer with two rank 20 survivors is honestly very frustrating, but we have sort of just gotten used to it and know that we're the ones who have to be in chase all game if we want to escape.
-
Corrupt is really good for set up killers (Hag, Trapper, Demo) or slow early game killers (Oni, Michael), but Pop, IMO is stronger if you can reliably get downs as it can be used throughout the entirety of the game and usually gives more value than corrupt.
-
Matchmaking has been bad in this game, it's nothing new.
It sucks just as much for the lower ranked survivors to get put up against a higher ranked killer.
-
Not really a youtuber, more so a streamer, but my favorite person to watch right now would have to be Bronx. Really good Demo player and killer in general, easy to listen to and very entertaining.
Least favorite would have to be Tru3, and it's not as if I hate him or anything, I just like it better when people don't complain all too often and he does that a little too much for me.
-
There's thousands of "change moris and keys" discussions on these forums. I see multiple every day.
But you know what's more important? Nerfing a killer that was already viewed as one of the most balanced killers in this game. Big brain.
-
Better game optimization and in game video settings. Especially for console which runs very poorly.

Am I the only one who almost never looks for blood anyway?
On a lot of maps, you just can't see the ground in the first place. On others, you really can't differentiate it from other variances in the textures.
Some maps they're ok, but I almost never get much value out of stopping to look.
Only maps I can really see blood is on the indoor maps and even then it doesn’t seem like it’s too reliable of a tracking tool.

As a colorblind player, I am 100% ok with not getting changes to blood because I recognize that could be unfair. HOWEVER, I would LOVE to get the option to turn all glowing red auras/scratchmarks to blue. It would be so much easier to see the damn things, and unlike blood, it's SUPPOSED to be visible when it's glowing. This would be a fair change that wouldn't give anyone an undue advantage. If the tradeoff is we don't get blood, I'm all for it.
I agree. Blood doesn’t seem to be too noticeable even if I wasn’t colorblind but changing scratch marks to blue would make my life as killer 10x easier and more enjoyable.

No, I want you to be more specific about who you mean, because, as I mentioned, I've seen about the same complaints about Hillbilly as I have about keys and moris. You're trying to make it look like the devs didn't listen to what people have been saying for four years.
I can guarantee you that if you polled the community, way more people would say that mori's and keys are a more pressing issue than a Billy nerf.
I've been on this forum for about 4 months now and can confidently say I've seen way more threads about changing moris and keys than asking for a Billy nerf.
Billy in most people's eyes, even including the Dev's was "in a good spot", so why even have to change him at all??
Mori's and keys are extremely outdated and provide an advantage simply by bringing them into the game, not to mention how unfun it is to face someone who mori's everyone first hook, or for a game just to end abruptly because they happened to have an item.

Are they asked to care how the other side wants the game should be played? No but in the fun for everyone argument I can't play to hard or I'm ruining the game for some else.
Lmao no NFL players don't care if the game is fun for the other team because they are playing a legit competitive sport.
Last I checked DbD has no competitive scene and is labeled as a "casual party game". You can play however you want but just know that you get nothing for trying your ass off. No rank rewards, no money, only a slight sense of accomplishment.

NFL players don't play for fun they play to win. Anything with two sides is a competition which in turn make it competitive. Agree with you 100%.
Ummm I think you’re forgetting that NFL players get paid millions of dollars to win.
People play games to have fun and enjoy themselves. Yes, this game is PvP which promotes competitive natures, but that doesn’t mean that the vast majority of people that play this game go in with an ultra competitive mentality.
I play this game for fun and can confidently say most people do too.

So... it's better for the killer to have to deal with situations they can do nothing about regularly ? Like the abundance of overly safe loops? Uncounterable perk combos?...why is that not a discussion?... The issue is it looks awfully to me that most "boring" complaints are about legion styling the killer into irrelevancy..and I'd like to note scott offers 0 solutions to this either..so I ask what you want? Because I want killers to feel like killers..not just a hurdle that has an unfair disadvantage vs my friends and i..I'm tired of it
I think you're missing my point. I'm not saying nerf Spirit, Freddy, etc. into the ground. I think it's important for this game to have killers like them that are viable against good survivors and SWF's, but what I'm saying is that it is not fun to play against a killer that essentially leaves you with no options, or force you to play a certain way and that way only.
Every Freddy game is essentially the same one on repeat. Find survivor, snare, down, hook, teleport, pop, repeat. The gameplay against them becomes stale and "boring".
Deathslinger is far from overpowered but he does often leave you with no options, you either run straight and get speared, or juke to avoid the spear and put yourself out of position so he can just M1 you, and that to me is boring to play against.
And if you really want to know what I would do differently about these killers I would say give Spirit any sort of indication that she is phasing. Make it so Freddy is slightly slowed down when he places his snares so they actually take more planning and skill to use, and make it so Deathslinger has to be aiming in for a certain amount of time before he can shoot so he can't just zone survivors simply by existing.
-
https://youtu.be/5h10-JuLwEU
This video pretty much perfectly sums up my opinions on what makes a killer "boring".
A boring killer to me is one that win or lose, I don't personally find fun to go against at all because they take skill away from survivor side.
Spirits mindgames are not skill based, it takes no skill to stand still and have a survivor think that you are phasing, it's purely a guessing game, and that's what takes the fun away from me. I want to use my skills that I have learned from years of playing this game to help me escape chases and stay alive, not just have a 50/50 guess with no information.
-
@kate_best_girl said:
She already has a tell when shes phasing she resets her animation its very easy to see because its not like her normal jerking motions.
You must have the best eyes ever because everything that I've seen online and in game, there is no tell when she is phasing or not. Animations, crystals lighting up, or otherwise.
@BubbaMain64 said:
That would be a buff. Because then you don't know if she's near you or not. That's why the new prayer beads does this.
Totally understand this, but what I'm saying is more of a whoosh sound right when she enters phase mode. The vacuum sound when she is close to you and coming out of phase would still be the same. Prayer Beads would be unaffected.

At that point survivors would likely see it..plus they know hes coming and hes loud even without a tr..I just dont think it wise to eliminate every element of surprise she has..
I wouldn't consider Spirit standing still and faking a phase an "element of surprise" or a "mindgame". It is purely a lack of information on the survivor side as there is no tell when she is phasing or not.
On smaller maps like The Game where you almost constantly can hear the killers terror radius, Spirit shines because no one knows when she is phasing or not.
-
Infectious is very nice on Demo as it allows you to play more aggressive, and gives you a bunch of info.
I personally use both in my build: BBQ, Infectious, STBFL, and Corrupt
Corrupt is very nice on demo as it allows you to get your portals placed around the map without immediately giving up 1 to 2 gens.
-
@immortalls96 said:
No..global sounds are an unnecessary and huge detriment to anyone who cant insta down..look at demo for proof of that..only someone who can see her should get any visual sign..global sounds just hand over the game needlessly
I really don't believe that a map wide phasing sound for spirit would be a huge detriment to her. All it does is give more information to the survivors which they are desperately lacking against her.
Also, Demo's portal if placed over 8 meters away from a gen still makes it very easy to sneak up on survivors, given the 2 seconds of undetectable.
-
Bronx's build on Demo has really changed my mind on how good he can be.
BBQ, Infectious Fright, STBFL, and Corrupt
STBFL is probably his best perk as shred can save you stacks and makes Demo so much more intimidating.
Infectious is really nice if you like an aggressive, more slug heavy playstyle. Not to mention the information it gives you.
Corrupt gives you ample time to set up your portals around the map and turn from a basic 115 killer to a map-wide mobility one.
BBQ for the information after hooks, and the sweet double bloodpoints.
-
If you're going to use Otz playing well with Legion as your point to why they're better than spirit then we should all come to the agreement that Wraith is a top 3 killer because Tru3Talent got like 20 4K's in a row with him, and he said so.
Any killer is viable in this game with an experienced enough player (yes, any killer even Clown and LF), that does not make them top tier or better than another killer.

Not sure how I’m a “terrible survivor, a troll or completely survivor biased” for suggesting some remedies.
If you don’t want to use mindbreaker how about Blood Echo then?
Blood echo is only somewhat viable on killers that keep people injured the whole game (Plague and Legion) and even then it's on a cooldown and doesn't provide that much value.
-
This game lacks so many options that every other game in existence has. Playing with shadowborn on makes the game feel so much smoother and natural to me, and I'd love nothing more than for it to be a settings option.

I can tell you that. Chainsaw cooldown is moredately reduces. Or chainsaw cooldown is reduced by 12%. "Wow, 12% is ... almost like... how long is the cooldown again??"
Agree to disagree. To me that would be more simple to understand, but to each their own.
They could also make a change where it would be something like "Reduces chainsaw cooldown by 1 second" for example. I think that would be relatively easy to comprehend.

config tools usually come with
-"basic set up"
-"personalized set up"
not a good comparison here.
by using vague terminology, you make certain that people don't actually know what something does. they just have a vague idea.
while using proper numbers means that people know exactly what something does. and not interpreting them properly is their own fault.
Exactly. You can't tell me that as a newer player seeing something that says tremendously, or slightly increases something is easier to comprehend than a statistic. Statistics are objective and if you read into them wrong then that's on you. Words like slightly, etc. are subjective and can be interpreted in many more different ways than a stat.

Another reason is because I think the devs don’t want to be lynched by people who misunderstand percentages (or some of the other number choices)
Look at Doc’s high stimulus electrode. It actually only extends the shock range by 4 metres. Many would read 4 metres for a green add on as pathetic. But in actual in game practice it does in fact make a HUGE difference having those extra 4 metres.
So some of the Tremendously and Considerably items actually have seemingly small numbers or seemingly small percentages but make big differences. Showing these numbers might be misunderstood and have players campaigning for buffs that would actually be absurd, even if the player doesn’t perceive their proposed buff as being a large number.
1% in this game makes a huge difference.
I see your point but statistics are statistics and if some people read them in the wrong way that's on them. For the people that know this game though the statistics would be a great help.

For me as a 5k hrs veteran player since release I still find the "moderately, slightly" more confusing than numbers up to this day.
BHVR probably thinks that most gamers are dumb and never had math class in school lol
Honestly like it would be so much easier to comprehend "Extends undetectable status by 25% after exiting a portal" rather than "tremendously increases undetectable"
-
@cluedup_survivor1988 said:
I do get where you're coming from but avoiding actual percentages stops people expecting things to work a certain amount, for example if it says increases chance of activation by 20% it will create the argument of it not activating once in 5 tries.
I think it would be simpler but it would create the "this s**t don't work as much as it says" arguments, better to generalize then specify to avoid disappointment in short.
Shouldn't you expect the add-ons to actually do what they're supposed to do though?
-
@Kees_T said:
I don't remember what exactly they said but in one of the Q&A lives someone asked about this and they sayed something like: "We don't want things to be confused, 5% there, 8% over there and more 13% here, it would be too complex for new players to get into it." (I may be wrong)
The thing is, they could implement a option to "show advanced tips for perks and add-ons". Like in League of Legends, runes are by default just text explaining what they do, and you can opt to see the advanced tip to actually see the numbers.
*EDIT Also they said changing text is "too much work".
Nailed it on the head right there, "too much work" is honestly more than likely the reason why.

I'm pretty sure DbD reaches higher than 30 on average on PS4. The only maps where this consistently isn't the case are Ormond, Hawkins, New Lery's, and Red Forest maps.
Im on Xbox and if I don't restart my game after every 2 games I will consistently get under 30 FPS on every single map.
-
@Almo said:
It was not nerfed due to overuse. Overuse was a clue that we should investigate. Upon investigation, we found several issues with it. These were explained in the design notes posted about it.
It seems like you guys didn't stop to consider why so many killers felt the need to use it in the first place and instead just listened to the whining survivors saying its too hard to hit great skillchecks.
Also why did you avoid the topic of this discussion? It would be nice if the devs could actually communicate their thoughts with their community so we can try to better understand why you make the decisions you do.
-
I think it has more to do with FPS caps personally.
When a survivor spins on console it is much harder to keep up with them due to frames being capped at 30 compared to 60 on PC.

It wouldn't fix anything.
Would killers still complain about gen rush? Yes
Would killers still complain about the random skill checks? Yes
Would killers complain about ruin being destroyed so quick? Yes
I was one of those killers who felt that they needed ruin and pop every single game and panicked when it was changed. Turns out if you play well you never needed the old ruin. The new one is also more rewarding.
It goes both ways dude, survivors complain just as much if not more than killers.
For me it's the fact that the devs said that Ruin was "overused" in red ranks, but perks like DS, Adrenaline, DH, and BT aren't in every single red rank game? It's the hypocrisy that makes me upset.
-
@Mat_Sella said:
I disagree wholeheartedly, as did the devs.
Pressure is the focal point of the game, you get chased to alleviate pressure from your team. As a killer you chase to push pressure, and you play around chases strategically
Sounds like to me you aren't applying any pressure as i've been in games where killers apply extreme pressure, and its fun and it wasnt in the days of old ruin.
and also the devs disagreeing with the community does not mean that they are right, they just have the power.
Look at the changes to Billy and Nurse, were they right to nerf those killers base kits instead of just their add ons?
-
Ah yes, the classic "just apply pressure 4head", yes I'm aware that pressure is what wins games as killer as I have been playing killer for the past 2 years, but at the start of the match when you spend the first 20-30 seconds trying to find somebody, then spend around 30 seconds to a minute chasing them and downing them, guess what, you just lost two gens because three other people were doing them.
Should I just apply more pressure, or is this a game mechanic issue, you tell me.
-
Ah a man of culture I see
