Well if we are talking about good moments in general I love it when I get 5 stacks of Autodidact and watch the heal progress bar fly.
Autodidact is such a fun perk
Its always hilarious to see a random players reaction when their health bar either drops or gains 30% in half a second 😂

Yeah. Xbox One s was the first time I experienced really awful lag and freezing.
That’s so strange.
I wasn’t aware that there was a stark difference between microstutters and game freezes between PS4 and Xbox.
But yeah, playing any killer on Xbox that requires any semblance of aim right now is pretty tough.
The lag and stutters have been getting worse for me as of late

Some kind of early game mechanic that incentivizes the survivors to do other things first

Bruh 20 hours is not that much in a week. I play that in two days. But then again, I have pretty much no social life because my friends are all scared to catch the virus.
Lol 20 hours a week multiplied by 52 gets you over 1000 hours a year. Let’s not act like that’s not a lot just because you play more

Nope, I don't mind at all. I agree with GeneraIV, the older versions of the maps might have had less depth in graphics, but they had atmosphere. Macmillian and its blue tint as a unique feature coupled with everything else just FIT correctly. It all just fitted perfectly together. Now, we still have them, but they have lost their charm, I made a post about it but I mentioned that the maps feel so lifeless. Link to that here:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/244299/the-maps-feel-so-lifeless#latest
Just look at the picture GeneralV posted, compare that image of the crotus penn asylum to the current one. The original is gorgeous, a beautiful place to be murdered at lol. But when you look at the new one, it does objectively look better in terms of graphics, but at the same time it somehow lacks detail (it's hard to explain).
The fog looks weird now as well, the moonlight cannot be changed anymore (I loved using the offerings that messed with it), and it looks cheesy.
What do I think the main problems are? Lack of color, lack of ambience, improper lighting, lack of vegetation, and lack of weather. All the trees look the same, all the grass is a little funky, and the. Look at current autohaven for example, it has the structures done good for the most part, but at the same time they seem out of place somehow because everything else is bland. There isn't really any wind blowing, the little vegetation it has just stays frozen, the clouds in the sky are just there and don't really move, and the lighting just doesn't suit it as it used to since it changed.
I personally think that it is mainly the structures are a big reason everything looks off. The buildings got some changes and do look better, but it's like the main structures (not tiles) of the map got a big upgrade and everything else got shafted.
And I don't mean to come off as rude or having super high expectations of BHVR, but I just miss the old feeling of the maps and would like them back. I also don't mean to sound like a know-it-all either. I mean this is just my opinion and I am not an artist, just someone who enjoys it (this game), I don't know what should and shouldn't be added to the graphics of the game.
So to summarize, the old maps were ALIVE, as they should be considering the super basic lore of the game. The entity creates a real (map) that is literally the exact same as the normal world, your home, but it isn't. The new maps, while they aren't necessarily bad, seem to have failed to give us that feeling. Not to mention it is hard to even enjoy the new graphics with poor optimization, which again thanks for looking into Mandy to see if there is any news on optimization.
So yeah, the old maps fit all together, they all were balanced in terms of everything said above, they had their own little details here and there. The new maps.. not really, they feel almost fake.
150% agree. I miss the ambiance of the old maps so much. It just feels like something is missing in all these map updates.

Okay, first of all, there are plenty of locations in which there is only one provider, and/or in which the best provider still sucks. In fact, I'd say that's the majority of locations.
Second of all, why are you focusing on someone's ISP when the scenario I opened up with is an individual with the best possible internet connection in the world? Do you even understand the concept of poor server-side management or distance-based connection issues? None of these have anything to do with someones ISP, stop bringing it up.
I don’t get what’s so hard to understand about this

Blood Debt in level 2 of the current Tome, for example. Safely unhook a survivor that unhooked you earlier in the trial 3 time(s).
Does anyone see the lack of thought in this? The game is requiring you to perform a detrimental action for you and the team in order to progress the Challenge. This would be like Apex Legends, in one of their weekly challenges, asking a player to be respawned 3 times. In a game where dying may mean your team loses the match, you need to do this to progress the Challenge. It really isn't well thought out at all. These need to change and be way more creative in the future.
Played like 6 games with this challenge active yesterday and ended up with 1/3...
The fall a great distance while being chased challenge sucks as well, considering there’s only a handful of maps that meet their criteria for “great heights”

I said not easily useable at jungle gyms. Huntress's power isn't easily useable at jungle gyms, neither is slinger's, and hag doesn't chase, so you could apply that to her as well. All of these killers will typically avoid jungle gyms. Spirit is just easily useable anywhere.
As I said, you don't want to use knives(or hatchets) for both hits, meaning that it's 8.
So yeah...tell me you're bad at killer without telling me you're bad at killer.
I'd have to disagree with you here
Huntress and Deathslinger's powers are both usable at jungle gyms. All you have to do is hide your red light when walking around the corner and either catch them through the window, or running through the pallet.

This but unironically. Being in a group and since survivors have this mindset that the killer is this mindless NPC to humilliate and outplay and not another human being makes SWF always toxic. Even if they don't want to, but at least one t-bag, even if in their heads it's a joke, it's still gonna happen.

The only teachables I have are literally Cannibal's. And he's who I'm playing, for his BBQ farm. (I want to main Pig & Ghost Face, I think, with a bit of Billy and Krueger on the side. But I have to wait for a lot of perks.)
I wish the iridescent shards didn't have to wait for a perk to show up specifically, and wait a whole week for each rotation... :( Especially thinking about how a lot of the ones I want probably already showed up, and won't for a while.

Azarov is survivor sided, but if the killer choose One side and camp a 3 gen, he could win. Same as Suffocation Pit, we must do 3 gens camping.
Recent reworks are just more survivor sided, old Farms were strong Maps for survivors, but now (Except Rotten Fields) the ColdWind Maps are - Safe palet + Safe Palet + Jungle Gym + Safe palet + Dead cows tree strong loop + long loop with Safe palets.... I find more Safe loops than before.
Puzzle map is just..... 25 palets, 16 Safe.
Azarov's is only survivor sided if the killer plays poorly.
The map is heavily killer sided due to the fact that the killer can control the flow and pace of the map, deciding where the survivors can do gens is a very powerful thing.
Yes, it can be boring to 3/4 gen a team, but it's a very legit, and effective strategy, especially on that map.

Inclined to agree. When I play, say, 10 games as Doc at rank 1. It's rare for any of those games to not end in 3K and a hatch or a 4K. Even when you get 3 good players that give you trouble in chases, 1 weak link can send it all tumbling down.
Every so often I get a really strong 4 man SWF that just wipes the floor with me, but when I look back on those games they also had a really strong map for survivor or bought multiple BNPs.
I would consider solo survivor to be heavily killer sided nowadays tbh. There's such a disparity in survivor skill in red ranks that there's no telling if you'll get an immersed Claudette that has no idea what looping is and wastes 90% of pallets in one chase, or a god David that runs the killer for 4 gens.
100% agree with you. I play strictly solo survivor and a year to two ago I would say that my escape rate was probably around 40-50%.
I've definitely gotten better at the game since then and I would say that I escape a max of around 20% now, if not less.
Solo survivor is a pain to play, and it's very easy to tell when playing killer if the team is primarily solo or SWF

The killers had to do their objetive quite a bit for the old moris too, killer needed to chase and down every survivor two times and only with the ebony ones, the nerf to the time the hatch stay opened is not enough. I wouldd put the keys for only working when the 5 gens are done and not opened instantly, it's absurd when a survivor with a key scapes during a chase.
Precisely due the mandatory 3 gen strategy in that map is why I consider that a survivor sided map, you are forced to mostly ignore one side of the map, and if you dont kill any survivor when the last 3 gen are together you won't win and its difficult to win if only one have died, if you have the 3 gen and chase a survivor he will always run to the cluster of jungle gyms in the center of the map wasting yourr time while the others make one of the three gens and if you drop the chase for defending the gens you can't win, this map is only decent for killers with good mobility and the ones who are good zoning, all that without counting that some SWFs try very hard to not let you achieve the 3 gen.
That game I just had on Azarovs had 4 gens left on one side of the map with 4 survivors left. I had like 2 hooks up to that point.
I finished the game with 4 gens left and 12 hooks...
As long as you don’t commit too hard to the other side of the map you’re fine, there’s literally nothing for them to work with once you get the like 3 pallets that spawn out of the way.
Being plague and having pop definitely helped my case as well though

While I agree both were problematic, moris and keys were not counterparts. One literally let the game be decided in a minute if the killer was so inclined to play that way, and whenever a mori was used, that is exactly what they would do.
Meanwhile survivors have to have actually done their objective quite a bit in order to be able to use keys. No, I'm not saying they're fair, but definitely more fair than old moris were and the BS part of it was for a different reasoning altogether.
Wait I just realised you think that Azarov's Resting Place is survivor sided when it's literally the most killer sided map in the game...one side is deadzones while the killer can just keep an easy 3 gen and not even need to interact with the other side of the map. Sometimes, 4 gens spawn on one side. Like...???
Literally just played a game on Azarov’s where the survivors 4 genned themselves on the building side of the map lol

Nah, it's literally 2k hours of total gameplay over the course of 6 years. The tiles didnt really change too much, the maps barely changed, a lot of mechanics do not change. Even learning what perks do are just a matter of time.
If I began this year, sure, I'd be a freaking tryhard. But when I started this game, there were only 7 characters, 26 survivor perks and 21 killer perks. Its not that hard to keep up with what perks do when there are only 6 new perks and 1 new killer ability every 4 months.
And yeah, actually, not running meta perks kinda makes you a casual gamer. You can still sweat without meta perks, sure, but again, intent matters more than time played. Casual literally means "relaxed and unconcerned", and 99.999% of my games, that's exactly how I play. Therefor, casual. The only times I do notify some concern, is when there is something that makes the game unfun to play for any side. But if you use that slight concern to call me non-casual, I do like to point out that this thread started by a casual player, being VERY concerned about a map.
Fair enough and point heard. We seem to have different definitions of casual so it seems best to agree to disagree here.

What's the risk reward? Having 35% faster recovery and a free second chance that can turn the game around when you got fairly outplayed?
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2197880#Comment_2197880
No, I have not considered not slugging when I make a play that gets all 4 survivors downed in front of me in less than 10 seconds.
The risk reward is simply bringing the perk into the match. Unbreakable is just like DS in the fact that it’s not used every game, in fact a majority of games. You’re essentially running 3 perks all game.
-
Unbreakable is an extremely balanced perk, always has been. It’s a risk/reward for the survivor and has counterplay for the killer.

Eh, 20 hours is pretty mediocre. I've played games 50 hours per week casually. Casual gameplay is not a matter of time, its a matter of intent. I can play Witcher 3 for 3 weeks in a row, 20 hours per week, to finish the storyline. It would still be a casual playthrough.
I dont use meta perks, I dont use meta builds, I dont use meta killers. I just rely on the total amount of hours I have gathered over the course to perform well. How is that not casually playing the game?
Looking at the depth of every one of your comments in this thread, and you personally saying that you've studied map tile layouts points to me, at least, that you take this game rather seriously.
Just because you don't use perks like dead hard and ruin every game does not automatically mean that you play this game casually.
-
I just checked the endgame chat out on most of your videos to see if people were really saying what you said they were, and from the 10+ ones I checked, only one person complained about camping, and then went on to be rather polite about it.
Most people just say ggs and moved on, but you were the only constant in every scenario.
I get that this game can be frustrating and that some survivors can say some annoying stuff post-game, but nothing that I saw would be even considered remotely toxic.
I really think that you should either consider taking a break from this game, or switch and play some solo queue survivor so you can see what it's like to be on the other side.

Except that there is the internet. If you struggle with something, you can google it and almost always someone has an answer to it.
The fact that Coco repeatedly made the same mistake over and over again to call something an infinite, instead of thinking what he COULD do to prevent that infinite.
"but few people going to commit to rigorous study of every tile of every map in a casual game."
Except that this guy is basing his argument on someone with 7k hours, who by all means should have at the very least studied some part of the game. I cant see anyone playing a game for over 3k hours without at least some hours studying game mechanics.
So, considering the matter that is presented has the following issues:
- same mistake made over and over again, which is a rookie mistake, any average player can inifinitely loop a rookie killer, doesnt mean its an actual infinite.
- he dedicated to the exact same chase in a situation where he couldnt afford to dedicate, which, again, is a rookie mistake.
I didnt study much at all, I just dont have the ego to say I am the best at what I do, and instead reflect on my own actions. That's all it takes. 1 5 second google leading to 1 14 minute video that explains within 5 minutes exactly why what you did is wrong, something you can literally do while in matchmaking.
I do not at all dominate every square inch. I improvise, adapt and overcome.
You sound like the exact opposite of a casual player.
And lets not act like 20 hours a week is a little amount, you're practically working a part-time job playing DbD

All those threads are archived and I looked at them. Nobody says "git gud" or "they are not op" like how they do in key threads
If my memory serves me right, I can remember quite a good amount of people telling survivors that they can't complain about mori's as long as keys are still in the game, in fact, that was the go to argument every time mori's or keys were brought up. With mori's receiving the nerf, I 100% agree that keys should be reworked as well, but to say that no one was saying that they weren't "op" is just not true.

Most people make porn threads or "wahh i got camped" or "nerf spirit" threads in the general discussion section. This is the first Haddonfield complain I've seen in quite a while. And since OP used the video of a killer main I don't think he's a nice survivor caring about the other side.
Funny how nobody told survivors to shut up when Moris were OP but now Key threads are just swarmed by people saying "use franklin" "dodge" "don't kill" "2k is good enough!".
You must not have been here when mori's were still kill after one hook. People were definitely told to shut up and every time someone complained about mori's killers would complain about keys and vice-versa. I think you deliberately choose to see certain arguments and ignore everything that goes against you're ideas.

You may have carry over skills from shooters, but most people don't.
To put it simply, Deathslinger requires far more accuracy than Nurse. Nurse, because her hit is always an m1, effectively has a massive projectile that's much easier to aim and doesn't require knowledge of the exact centre of her screen, whereas Deathslinger has a wee pinprick that takes ages to consistently land shots with.
And the fact that you think spray-n-pray is Plagues playstyle shows how much you have to learn. I use her to complete with Deathsquads, can you say the same? If so, you're probably a natural and just don't know it, in which case I'm extremely jealous.
You know I actually agree with you and believe that you changed my mind on this subject. Killers like Plague do require much more thought and stress to play compared to Nurse. The initial learning curve with Nurse compared to any other killer in this game is much bigger, but like you said once you do learn the distance and timings of her blinks and flicks, you do pretty much roll most teams without having to stress too much.
And with regards to Deathslinger, I practically grew up on FPS games, I’ve been playing Halo and Call of Duty pretty much since I can remember so the projectile killers definitely come a little easier to me.
Thank you for your solid points and changing my perspective.
-
I think your issue here is with matchmaking, friend. Nothing in your post is what I would consider to be necessarily toxic. Teabagging at the exit gate is definitely BM but you can literally force them out like you said. Bodyblocking and insta’s are part of the game and completely fair game for the survivor to employ. After all it’s the survivors jobs to look out for themselves and their teammates, not for you. The matchmaking in this game sucks and I don’t think anyone would disagree with you there, but to call people toxic just because they’re in a SWF, use good perks and items, and then teabag at the exit gate is a little overboard.
If they messaged you after the game and started harassing you and/or calling you slurs that’d be another story.
-

Deathslinger requires extremely precise aim and game knowledge, something that only comes with far more practice than Nurse. And Plague is easy to get into, not to play well. She's the opposite of Nurse. You need to be good at absolutely everything, her tactics, her mechanics, adjusting plans on the fly, taking in information from the corner of your eye, being amazing at m1 play, being amazing at using Corrupt Purge, reading survivors and adjusing to them and how they cleanse, because unlike most killers she actually can win.
Nurse just learns how to not miss too much and not be an idiot. A bit of non-precise mechanical skill and basic game knowledge and she steamrolls everyone but deathsquads.
Edit: looking at your description of Plague gameplay is painful. You must either lose a lot or go agaisnt really bad survivors.
If you're going to argue that Deathslinger requires precise aim, how does that not apply to Nurse?
Deathslingers power is 20x easier to use than Nurses, you literally aim and shoot. If the survivor is dodging you wait for him to dodge back into your shot and shoot. Nurse you actually have to know the precise distance of every blink and where exactly to go, way more difficult than Deathslingers power.
And you're making Plague sound way harder to use than she is, being amazing at M1 play is a basic for almost every killer in the game, and her corrupt purge is not as hard to aim as many people say it is, you just aim ahead or spray it.
-
@MadLordJack said:

Nope. Not true at all. Deathslinger, Plague, Billy, Huntress, Oni, and maybe even Twins are much harder than her. It's just that she has the most difficult initial learning curve, so people automatically assume she's overall super difficult.
The hardest things to learn about Nurse are indoor maps and blink flicks. But indoor maps are super rare and I'm All Ears exists, and blink flicks are mostly just fancy.
Nurse is not harder than any of those killers
Billy and Oni maybe, because their power takes more skill than a majority of the cast, but to say that Deathslinger and Plague are harder than Nurse? Deathslingers one of the simplest killers in the game with some cool mechanics because of his tiny spear hitbox and Plague is the opposite of complex as well; you spit on survivor, they get broken, you basic attack, repeat. If they cleanse you drink the pool and end chases in 20 seconds.
