  • You sound like you should take a break from this game.

  • I love how as a society we’ve went from the definition of toxic as actual abuse and slurs to simply teabagging in a video game.

im convinced people that think this games community is toxic never played another online game in their lives

  • Hope is currently my favorite survivor perk.

If you can get to the endgame, it pretty much guarantees you an escape, especially if it’s a 110 killer.

I would give up because i don't want them to die because of me, not because i expect them to leave. If i expected that i wouldn't have made this post in the first place lol.

    It's called "playing smart".

A lot of survivors don't care about "playing smart" and would rather attempt the risky save, which IMO is way more fun than just leaving your teammate to die.

    Good news everyone.

Are you sure it wasn’t the headphones or the gaming chair that was your problem??

Play both sides so you don't get locked into bias opinions and thinking everyone on the other side is bad, toxic or entitled.

    This.

You have a very easy solution in front of you. Simply try the other side out and see for yourself.

  • I agree.

Half the fun about a new licensed killer coming to the game is speculating which one it will be.

The only serious trigger I recall no longer being an issue was when chests were updated, so simply searching one would likely kill someone struggling on hook. Moot now with the change to the struggle mechanic.

The long long list of triggers largly remains, and every patch seems to spawn a few more. The very nice looking fire barrel update was one i noticed immediately, dropping frames to below Blight's old bellybutton.

Running near a fire barrel is no longer an option unless you want to freeze for a solid second

    It is indeed.

I wish I could get in contact with a Dev or a Mod and plead our case to the team, but I doubt that will happen.

If anyone knows how to do so, I'd like to know.

    It's truly perplexing.

There's zero chance in hell a dev or mod haven't seen this thread, they just deliberately choose to ignore our valid complaints that have been brewing for over a year.

Really disappointing from BHVR, expect better from a game that's community is so passionate.

  • @SunderMun said:

Honestly, I think the biggest issue is that they try to theme their balance patches and as such, the state of the game suffers since things that need fixing or changing ASAP get neglected multiple updates in a row. This wouldn't be an issue if we got balance patches more often (the current rate is actually OK, assuming that every patch, chapter and mid-chapter, comes with varied and necessary changes, tbh, though)

This idea would definitely help, too, however. They may actually have something like this in place, but not to the extent that is necessary, for sure.

This is a great point, why do they go for themes with balance changes and such? It makes no sense, why not address the issues that are most pertinent instead of going for a theme?

The game isn't fun when it's always a 4-stack of max-Perk Survivors flashlight spamming you and teabagging you at the gates. Efficiently managing their time, everyone having Borrowed Time and other obnoxious things, and the game starting with 2-3 gens down.

    Yes. That is when...

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2186661#Comment_2186661

That is when I want free stuff so that I can play the game with the best stuff. Because everyone I'm playing against has the best stuff.

You had to go through the grind? I'm sorry you had to do that. But I don't also want to have to, ESPECIALLY if it's just because YOU had to. That is NOT a good reason.

Improve the game. It's that simple. Don't hold onto improvements because, like I said several times, all the Sunk Costers would feel mad about it.

Let me BUY the game at a full price value, including all perks. Hey, how about you make it up to the Sunk Costers by giving them Auric Cells based on... their player level, or how many teachables they've unlocked, or something like that. BAM, done & done. Everyone's happy. (Well of course some people will still be mad, because they like being mad and they like gatekeeping. But, there'd be a lot more people happy than there are now.)

DO NOT LET GATEKEEPERS RUIN THIS GAME! MAKE DECISIONS THAT ARE GOOD FOR THE GAME!

I highly doubt that you're going against what you say you do every game. Very, very, rarely do I go against the 4 man death squads like you are describing. You are more than likely just choosing to remember the negative experiences more than the positive ones.

Taking this game seriously in a competitive viewpoint is just silly, it's not designed for that. It's a party game so try to treat it as such, and I promise you you'll enjoy the game way more.

that is your arguement? He's "annoying"? Ok dude, I won't argue with that, it's not worth my time

Lmao do you want me to go into detail on why he's "annoying" and brings more, passively, than 75% of the killer roster? Doctor is one the last killers you should be crying buff on right now, hell look at your profile picture real quick.

  • @TiltedBandy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2185918#Comment_2185918

just pre-drop pallet when injured lol, by the time the killer downs you 3 gen will pop, just pre-drop and anti-looping killers get destroyed. A good team hardly will lose against a low tier like doc

Doctor is already a very viable killer, not to mention that tier 3 madness is already disruptive enough.

While I enjoy playing him, Doctor accounts for 70% of my most annoying games as survivor, adding more buffs to him after he already got a rework will probably add 30% more. There's many more killers they should focus their attention on first.

  • What is this new mentality of "you can't be tunneled or camped if you don't get caught"?

It just makes me laugh considering the mechanics of the game are designed for you to eventually be caught and downed.

Not to mention that a majority of the player base do not enjoy playing stealthy as much as the chase aspect.

  • Console optimization.

Being silent and ignoring the thousands of questions that they get on this issue is an awful look for this company. To me it’s the equivalent of The Office episode where Michael promises to pay for the whole classes tuition, but never pulls through. At least in The Office Michael had the balls to still face them and say he couldn’t do it...

  • 100% agree.

The fact that the devs consider increased FOV to be an advantage but not things like low graphic settings on PC that give increased brightness and visibility in almost every regard while console is forced to play on high, dark settings actually bamboozles me. It's the lack of consistency with application that makes me very frustrated at some glaring issues with this game.

  • @Shdw_Void said:

    Try about every exhaustion perk.

I fast vaulted with lithe and it froze and caused me to run into a wall and get downed.

It truly is wonderful to lose to the game instead of those that wish to play it

Well if we’re being completely honest, almost every action that results in some kind of effect results in game tearing and freezing...

  • I have yet to face a really good blight on console since his release. I can’t play him for $hit either, as I have the same problem as you. It’s a damn shame that half the killers on the roster just feel unplayable due to the lag and unoptimization

  • @Aneurysm said:

You know through all the previous drama when a load of us on console went full gamers rise up expressed our very valid concerns about the FPS constantly getting worse and the silence on the previously promised optimisation I'd completely forgotten that pc users have that option.

Now I'm on an (average) pc and occasionally it'll switch itself back to ultra for no reason and my performance tanks, it's like being on console again. Back to low or medium and it's fine. It'd be a band-aid solution but like a really simple and probably effective one, no idea why they haven't done it.

Hard for me to imagine that they simply cannot do it. Almost every console game I own has ways to change graphic settings.

  • @JPLongstreet said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/249155/as-a-console-player-all-i-want-is-to-play-this-game-on-low-graphics-mode

Yasssss more options please. Let us decide if the graphics are to be less important than gameplay performance.

Not to mention that this game is cross play and PC players are at a distinct advantage in FPS, movement, and graphical settings.

  • there honestly shouldn’t even be a struggle or skill check mechanic, it’s just mundane, boring, and requires you to pay more attention. Dying early in on the second stage of a hook isn’t enjoyable for anyone in the game, not even the killer

  • Freddy purely for his awful swing hit boxes. Dude swipes his hand an inch in front of him and hits you from 5 feet away

  • Not much I can say honestly other than just practice. Playing killer on console is already pretty difficult with the current optimization and killers that require precise movements and hits for their powers are not exactly the best for console (nurse, huntress, trickster, etc.) by all means keep playing her, I’ve played some really good console huntresses, but just know that you’ll be pretty frustrated trying to play her

  • @El_Gingero said:

Especially for newer consoles there should be a performance mode. My main gripe though is game brightness, or lack thereof. Game is obnoxiously dark on my Series X.

For real, I shouldn’t have to max out the brightness on my tv for me to be able to make 5 feet in front of me on maps like midwich and the game

  • As survivor

    favorite is gas heaven

least favorite is Hawkins (and I feel like the game knows this by how many times I play it)

  • @Shroompy said:

Not cater, but bridge the gap between solo q and swf and to do that you need to give Solo Q more ways to communicate.

A ping system or "chat wheel" that pops up next to the icon of the survivor would be nice, a little chase icon to indicate when some one is in chase, etc.

One thing that I think would be cool as well, is to actually add back a bug that was in the game a few years ago, where sounds echoed through the whole map. You could hear an exit gate almost opened beep in the distance... Huntress "yelling" while throwing hatchets/swinging, it was actually such a cool bug I wish it stayed in the game, but they patched it very soon after.

You said this much better than myself, by cater I didn’t necessarily mean just hand them an easy time, but like you said bridge the gap. And I didn’t play when that bug was in the game but I think that would definitely be a good addition that would add some more eeriness to the game.

  • @Carth said:

It depends I would say, are you describing players who don't understand

    • gen spawn locations
    • totem spawn locations
    • gen efficiency
    • meta perks
    • how to loop

I don't think those players should be catered too. That said, some form of Kindred base kit is something that is relatively harmless and something a lot of people have asked for

I agree, players who do not understand those things you listed should not be catered to. Catering towards the newer players is how you destroy seasoned players experiences, and learning those things always gives newer players something to work on. I’m speaking more towards the average to above average solo queue players experience.

  • Lol this problem can easily be fixed by walking up to them and hitting them, forcing them out, or like you said just not letting them get to that point. Survivors can’t do much in this game to hold killers hostage other than stealthing for huge amounts of time. The problem of holding games hostage usually lies more with the killers rather than survivors.

  • @TheArbiter said:

They were really broken until the last bug patch when they were "fixed" however there is definitely something still wrong with them.

Dang, they were even worse than they are now? That must have been hell to deal with.

Thanks so much for acknowledging console. But there is a another problem on console that has been apparent for quite a while. When im playing swf after a while a glitch would occur that would say someone is still in a match when they aren't. Sometimes the lobby wouldn't me show my friends when my friends say they are in the lobby with me and vice versa. Other times it would not show all of us ready when in fact we were. this things would happen multiple times and to fix this we would all have to restart The game completely. it would get extremely tedious to do so. This has been in the game for a while and i feel no one has brought it to the devs attention. Is it possible you can tell them about this as well?

I take it you’re on Xbox? I have the same problem and my friend that plays on PS4 says it has never happened to him before. Strange that this would only affect one console and not the other.

  • @stargazer9 said:

Lmaoo I had the same thing happen to me on Haddonfield, had literally no clue there was an object the whole game til I checked at the end as well. Was wondering the whole time why it seemed like they knew where I was hahah

Seriously though, there's more than a few of us that play and enjoy this game, tolerating the lack of accessibility. This update to auras is a massive middle finger, it really is. Six pages of discussion, including multiple merged threads, in two and a half hours, and total radio silence from the devs. I'm going to play a couple games myself when I'm done working just to confirm it's as bad as streams and screenshots are showing, but unless it's way different playing, I don't think I can reasonably play the game anymore. Not being dramatic, if I can't even see things that are supposed to be easy to see, then there's no point in even trying to play.

If your R/G colorblind like me, trust me it’s just as bad as you think. Can’t see people on hooks unless I have direct line of sight, can’t see any auras from BBQ, and gens that are far away blend even more than they did before.

  • @LordRegal said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1483134#Comment_1483134

It was a minigame within the game with the old auras for me, I can't wait to never play Trapper again with the new auras! Thanks BHVR, your colorblind fanbase certainly doesn't need to see to play the game.

Like, I've been annoyed at them before, but most times it can be boiled down to adaptation pains. This is something I legitimately cannot help, my vision does not let me see all colors. And this patch has shown me definitively that they do not care.

It’s extremely disheartening that they still haven’t responded to all this criticism from the colorblind community.

And it’s even more of shame that it will more than likely be weeks before they actually implement a change (if they even make one).

Looks like it’s time for me to take a break from a game that clearly doesn’t care about people like me.

  • I can’t continue to play this game if auras aren’t changed soon, it literally makes it unplayable for us colorblind people.

  • @KingFrost said:

    This community? Overreacting? Never

No no, it was a proper response. The devs were the ones overreacting and the community had to tell them how awful a change it was

  • For the love of God, if you’re not going to add a colorblind option like every other game in the world, then don’t make it even harder to see auras. I literally cannot see hooked survivors anymore, and gens that are far away are even harder to see.

I know I speak for a lot of the colorblind community in this game when I say that it is way past due to add more accessibility options.

  • @Bobulkomat said:

They probably have a reason for that. We have to get used to it. I think this change prevents some bugs in the future.

I don’t know this change seems extremely backwards and unnecessary. I don’t know how this would exactly help with bugs, but this isn’t the solution.

  • There was literally zero point in making them less noticeable. I’ve never seen a single person complain about how they were.

  • @MegaWaffle said:

    Its fun for the killer.

Its easy to tell as a survivor since she "sparkles" (not sure if that one skin is still bugged, I don't play Spirirt often)

If I don't see sparkle I often stand still too and have a staring contest.

If I do see sparkle then the mindgames begin.

“Easy to tell” you must have eagle vision because this only works on default cosmetic spirit and you have to be like 5 feet away from her max

  • @Dr_Loomis said:

You are encouraged to do co-operative actions.

There will be increased generator repair, but there is a new risk in which you have to rely on the other survivor as well as your own skills: if they miss a skill check it can have disastrous results.

This is one reason others are put off by co-op healing: if the other survivor fails a heal skill check, it could attract the killer's attention, leaving you potentially still injured and vulnerable.

You sometimes have to gamble quicker progression with skill check competency.

I don’t know who you’re playing with but missing a skill check is very, very rare these days.

  • @CaulDrohn said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/173416/facecamping-solution

Exactly that suggestion was already tried in a ptb, and it was abused HEAVILY by coordinated survivors. So bad that the devs promised that they will NEVER try to add such cmaping punishments EVER again. Try to think about how bad the situation must have been, when the devs totally double down on their idea and never want to try something similar ever again!

Face Camping is strategy. A bad and lazy one, which will not help you at all against a good survivor team, but still a strategy. Just accept or tolerate that it's a part of the game. Rush them gens and leave, don't feed the camper with trying for a save, that usually backfires and confirms the campers actions. Make it as boring as it can be for the camper, so he finally may change his playstyle. I see no other way than this.

You can’t just expect everyone to play optimal, especially at lower ranks. People want to save their teammates as everyone knows that it’s extremely boring and frustrating to get facecamped. It’s way more fun in this game to play altruistically instead of simply holding a button and doing a gen.
