I’ll play devils advocate here.
I played a game against trapper yesterday where he put someone in the basement of Azarov’s main building trapped the window, put two on the stairs and waited for someone to go down for the save while he put one in the only doorway in.
The only way that the two people could have gotten out is if one had dead hard.
I understand that the “counter play” to this is simply to let the dude in the basement die and pound gens, but I feel like a lot of people don’t realize how boring this is for every single survivor in the game. Dead hard is the only perk that allows you to escape these types of situations while also trying to be altruistic.

You clearly don't play on console.
The console experience, if you can't tell by now, is absolutely miserable.
No joke, the least optimized game I have ever played in my life.

I thought they said they fixed it
This problems been stemming a while with most newer killers powers, but this most recent patch made playing any killer (at least for me) extremely laggy and prone to 1 second freezes, especially Nemesis.

Nah,the crowns we can earn are totally different and this years anniversary offerings give 1% more bloodpoints than the one from the previous year.
I'm sure that required a TON of effort.
Definetely justifies them nuking all the other events (New Year,Summer and Winter events) 🤡
The way they announced it on stream made it sound like this was the most original idea ever too...

Okay, having read this, I've come to the conclusion that survivors just want a sweatmaster-5000 to play against instead of someone trying to be chill and have fun. Thanks for the feedback guys.
I’m curious, in what way do you think farming is fun?
-
IMO, the tentacle hit box is not forgiving enough to justify 3 hits. All it takes even in a enclosed area is a slight movement to the side to dodge it. If the killer has good ping you’re more than likely going to make him miss if you’re not locked in an animation
-
This is very similar to my Nemesis experience on Xbox.
Watching those clips just made me sad :(

Nemesis's whip has the range of, like, T3 Myers's lunge, with one-fifth the maneuverability. Only instead of a 1-hit down, it's a 3-hit down. Contamination exists solely to hurt Nemesis's effectiveness in a chase. It does absolutely nothing beyond just requiring Nemesis's power to hit Survivors an extra time.
As for zombies? At their very, very best, they're a Trapper trap that hits Survivors instead of locking them in place. And unlike traps, you have absolutely zero control over where they go and there's only 2 of them.
Nemesis is doubtlessly weak. The only time he does okay is on loops with very low walls where the whip can hit Survivors over them, and at that point even someone like Trickster would be more effective.
Not to mention that if a survivor is injured but not infected they can run into a zombie for a speed boost during chase.
Not a very fun time for him.
Using the vaccines needs to have more downsides

C tier at best. He'll get dunked on by decent players once they realize the tentacle and zombies are a free Sprint Burst when they aren't infected. He gives survivors 8 free health states to work with. That's insane.
Yeah, bots are always going to get zoned into M1s by the tentacle even though they're uninfected. You can 4k them with no traps Trapper.
Good players use the first tentacle for the free Sprint Burst, so Nemesis has to be a powerless M1 to injure them or spend time trying to land a tentacle hit just to be able to do something productive with their next tentacle hit on that specific survivor. And then they can use a vaccine.
A Nemesis spent a good 20 seconds to land a tentacle on me at a Badham car, and for his efforts he won the prize of chasing a still healthy survivor through the school. Very strong killer. Yes.
I’ve also had a couple scenarios where they if you’re injured but not infected and getting chased by him, you can run into a zombie for a free sprint burst as well.
Nemesis just feels like a far inferior version of plague with no upside if survivors choose to cleanse

I wouldn't really call it optimism (though thank you for the compliment), just experience. I've seen what's happening today happen with countless games countless times. I don't like it, but I'm used to it. We shouldn't have to get used to it, but we do. It sucks, but it's just how things are these days.
As for the optimization, that's a somewhat different issue because I do understand that those of you who have been playing for a long time, in particular on consoles, have been asking and waiting quite some time for this already. While I have no doubt that today's serious issues will be sorted quickly, I sadly can't say that I feel the same about any lingering overall performance issues. Enough of you guys have said that they've been around for years that all I can do is express my sympathy and hope for the best. The game runs fine for me, but I know that not everyone has the same luck.
I love your attitude dude, keep doing you!

I keep thinking that it’s impossible for them to keep being silent when there’s so much outcry, but they just keep proving me wrong day after day 😂😂

Well GTAO and Skyrim (I don't know about ESO specifically) had years and years of patches to smooth things out. Even now, they still have problems. GTAO is easily and constantly hacked by scumbag players as its userbase complains about the company only caring about fixing things that are to their financial benefit. Hundreds of bugs (some of them game-breaking) remained in the final patch of Skyrim and required the installation of a massive community mod to fix as the players complained about how lazy and incompetent Bethesda is. One of the Assassin's Creed games released with floating, faceless NPCs. EA's SimCity (2013) released with such atrocious online components that people literally couldn't even play the game for days.
Don't get me wrong, I'm on your side. I hate that this is how things are. I hate that the industry at large relies on the internet as a crutch to drip-feed fixes to glitches that we, the players, are the unpaid guinea pigs have to find. I'm 43 years old, when I grew up playing a new game amounted to putting it in the system and playing a relatively glitch-free experience, the end. I feel for you guys, I really do. I'm sure that I'll be irritated if I too go to play tonight and have the same issues that some of the rest of you are having.
I'm just saying that people are going HAM on BVHR right now as if they have catastrophically destroyed the game in a way that no other developer ever has. And again, I really do get the frustration. I guess I've just been through this before and have come to expect it (no, we shouldn't have to, but that's the world we live in), and know that soon enough the biggest issues will be smoothed over. It's not like the game will remain in this state.
Should these issues have been resolved before release? 100 percent, yes. But I mean, don't worry, we'll be playing like usual very soon.
I admire your optimism but people have been screaming for an optimization update since March of 2019, and the game has been getting perpetually worse over the past two years with this patch possibly being the worst state the game has been on all platforms possibly ever. People are losing faith in BHVR to fix things because of all the empty promises and lack on transparency. If you want an idea of what they think of console players I think the 1200 reply thread about console optimization still being unanswered gives an idea.
If there is one nice aspect of being on console it’s that hackers are almost impossible to encounter, so we have that going for us.

Mm, I suppose it's subjective. It does sound like there have been a lot of bugs today but I come from games like The Elder Scrolls and GTA Online which had what seemed like hundreds.
That said, experiencing a bunch of bugs is frustrating no matter what the game is, so I feel for the people who are having to go through them. I guess I just wanted to remind everyone that this is, unfortunately more or less how the gaming industry works these days. Always gotta wait for hotfixes and so forth. It sucks, but things will hopefully be resolved soon.
I’ve also played a bunch of GTA and even way more ESO, both these games have bugs, sure. But they both released before DbD and are way more optimized and run wayyyy better on my Xbox. ESO has a bunch of things on the UI all going on at once and the PvP can have dozens of players all spamming spells and it still doesn’t freeze and stutter as much as this game.

Using the vaccines makes him hit you an extra time with his tentacle attack. Definitely worth doing.
IMO, I don’t think the first hit with a tentacle attack should give them a speed boost either

Just preparing them for the future.
Honestly.
At least they know what they’re getting into now.

The game on steam just hit its all time peak player count.
I’d imagine console is also hitting peak numbers right now considering most people play RE on console.

It sucks that essentially nothing has worked in regards to getting BHVR's attention. It seems they are dedicated to ignoring console optimization.
It’s actually ridiculous.
I keep looking under their Twitter replies hoping that people would be more upset about this, but it seems that people only care about linked sets and trying to get their favorite characters in the game...
-
I am now fully, 100% convinced that they run no tests on consoles prior to releasing them. Both games I’ve played on RPD have resulted in my game crashing. Imagine RE fans coming over from playing village, which runs extremely well even on the old consoles, to a 5 year old game that constantly stutters, freezes and crashes.
-
Oh my lord I’ve played on the new map twice and my game has crashed both times, SMFH

800 usd yeah it’s only 350 pounds lol & I mean I have loads of games to play so I don’t just play dead by daylight so buying a new console was worth the price... but the PS4 pro version runs fine aswell ? If it’s the old console and to be fair they came out in 2012 -2013 we are in 2021 you can’t be expecting them to run games as smooth as they were especially now game devs are optimising for next gen & pcs.... did you see cyberpunk..... 🤣 need I say anymore
There’s a difference between retail and market price, anyone who knows basic economics knows this. There’s a huge microchip shortage so consoles are in short demand, hence market price is around $700-$800.
And let’s not even act for a second like Cyberpunk and DbD are even remotely close to requiring the same amount of processing power to run smoothly.
Stop being so condescending and try to pay attention to what people are actually saying. It doesn’t take a longer than a minute to see a forum post with over 1100 replies on the front page all complaining about poor optimization.
-
It’s unplayable for me as I purchased the DLC an hour ago and it still hasn’t shown up yet :)
-
Same here
The console experience for this game is so pleasant :))

I have the same problem, checked my card and even see the $12 purchase on it.
I restarted my game 3 times now and still don’t have access to it.
Im on Xbox One

60-70 ping is awful.
I get around 20-30 ping in almost every other game but due to server location I always sit around 60-70.
And I wouldn’t say that that is awful either, it’s not great at all but definitely not bad enough to be causing the hits it does.
-
Hawkins
Sanctum of Wrath is moving up there with how often I play it tho

@smappdooda said:
Until proven otherwise, I will always believe the servers favor bad ping over good ping. It's the only explanation why I get hit in impossible fashions as survivor but miss the same hits as killer. (and end up exhausted on the ground half the time with dead hard but somehow other people dead hard with my weapon halfway through their body)
It's probably the most frustrating thing for me about this game currently.
I’m under the same impression.
I thought that hit validation would cease this problem but it’s just as bad if not worse than it’s been.
-
@imabot said:
If the killer has a lower ping than yours, they will always be prioritized.
What if they have a higher ping?

Playing killer on console can be quite a miserable experience.
Between the horrid FPS, constant stuttering, and lack of graphic options that make most maps dark as hell, it’s not a very fun experience most of the time.

if they chill wont they be able to chill with other chill killers? or the other way around at a lower level of mmr? cause wanting to chill and wanting easy games is two different things
You can in fact play this game casually while also being good at it. I don’t sweat my ass off every killer game but I still do pretty well in a vast majority of my games.

You have to give the mmr system time to kick in. If you tell the devs to turn it off every time they turn it on because you're that selfish and impatient, we may NEVER get a good matchmaking system in this game!
I'm pretty sure that they've been collecting data in the background for MMR for a while now so that when they push it to live, not everybody is starting from zero.
-
They've said that they have been taking matches in the background so that when they push these tests to live servers, the placement games are not necessary.
-
I'm more so confused on how they always say that they are doing the MMR testing in the background so when it pushes to live, you will already have a score. But every time they do these MMR tests it literally feels like they're starting from zero on everyone.

The pip system is broken.
If survivors legit play a perfect game where no one gets downed and hooked a single time, every person is de-pipping
-
I've had multiple matches today where it's 4 red rank survivors versus a gray rank killer where the killer proceeded to get under 10k points in both...
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
This is not really anything about Pig IMO. I would also not compare Pig and Deathslinger.
But I dont really understand why Huntress gets a big Lullaby and Deathslinger is basically the stealthiest guy ever. It is not only his low TR which pairs with M&A and results in a Terror Radius lower than his shooting range, but also that his Terror Radius is so weird that he probably gets an extra 2-4 meters of Stealth.
Yeah pretty much this. I just compared the two because I think it's perplexing that a killer that's supposed to be oriented around stealth and game delay sucks at stealth when compared to a killer that's supposed to excel in chase.
-
I haven’t taken iron will off in like a year lol
-
@Fantasy said:
With tinkerer and pop/ruin the game kinda plays itself. It lets you know what gens to pressure and pop, when to drop chase, free hits/down with undetectable, no cooldown. A lot of killers get carried by it.
As a killer that gets carried by these perks along with discordance, you get so much free information you literally don’t have to think about what to do

I hate to do this but, @ScottJund if you would ever consider attempting playing on console to experience it, or reading through this thread and possibly starting a discussion on it, I think that this could help.
I know that this a lot to ask so feel completely free to ignore this. I don’t know much, but if I do know one thing it’s that you have a voice in this community and that when you create a discussion, people tend to give it attention. The more that this discussion is out there, the harder, IMO, it is for BHVR to continue to ignore the problem.
