I feel like this is in the same vein as stretched resolution. Nobody really cares, but some people will still freak out about it.
I'm more concerned about your TV than thinking if it's actually cheating or not.
No. Go for it. Plenty of monitors have a crosshair built-in and there are several softwares to do it on PC, so I don't see why not use it on console as well. Crosshair on screen alone doesn't make you hit those shots, you still have to aim.

Yes! They should be banned for using stretched resolution! How dare they stretch their FOV for little to no advantage...
Well in that case if you think it's cheating, I would definitely say a crosshair isn't the most "fair" thing, as it was clearly not intended.
it wouldn’t even be cheating to use an nvidia filter to put a crosshair on your screen.
Actually, stretched resolution in DBD is doing more than just stretching the image provided. Often times you're able to see OVER walls and such that you normally wouldn't be able to.
does it really matter sweaty players are sweaty players it will always be a thing, they will always find a way to get an advantage, plus i mean killers mod the chase music so its harder to hear to help find survivors, no one freaked out about that
I watched Knightlight the other day and didn't see that stretching the resolution was doing anything like that. If it actually does then yeah, that is not okay. If it only stretches the models (like in fps games) I don't see anything wrong with that.
If it was just a stretch to screen like whats typical of games, there would be no problem. What ends up happening in DBD however is people are lowering their resolution to like 800 X 600 which ends up cutting the X axis abit shorter but extends the Y axis. All of a sudden the short killer being looped around a hay barrel or something that would normally be short enough to avoid being seen...can be seen.
It should be federally illegal.

it's cheating if you slam a thumbtack in the middle of your screen too, so don't think you can find any loop holes

Altering game files is already deemed as cheating though, theres no need to specify "modding sound files" exclusively. Just because you start calling players "sweaty" doesnt mean we should just overlook unintended advantages. The people with wall hacks and aimbots are ALSO pretty sweaty but no one is defending them. No one is claiming "cheating is always gonna be a thing so lets leave cheaters alone".
