No and I won't start doing so either. I just never really liked Reddit's user experience and I despise bigger Discord servers personally. And Steam forums? Ever since old SPUF got shut down in a similar way I've never really used those for any game.
-
Sucks, in a way I'm almost surprised something as "old-fashioned" nowadays as forum was kept up for this long I guess. Can't really see myself transition to Discord, Reddit or the trolls-trolling-trolls thunderdome that is the steam forums, so thanks for not pulling the plug years ago already I guess I've enjoyed posting here.

The #1 issue which is honestly unfixable (besides making 2v8 permanent to let the "novelty" of playing as a killer duo fade out entirely, which would probably do very bad things to 1v4 queues/matchmaking anyway) is queue times. Queue times are king and will forever be in the back of the devs minds when they design stuff.
For survivor at least for me it's honestly just the classes. Add more of them! Add a chest-focused one, a totem class, whatever other ideas just throw them at the mode and see which stick. Classes are fine but survivor will forever be vastly less "novel" than killer in 2v8. As eh/10 as the salts are I welcome them as something new for the simple reason they're a brand new thing as the mini-invocations they are.
-
It's just kinda bizarre to me to act like game developers have to "prove" they play the game, or that they even have to play it to begin with.
And even if they did, a lot of people would absolutely not engage with the streams in good faith at all. If the devs do bad, then that is the source of all evils in the game. If they do good though? Really think they'd just go "Oh my bad, proceed king/queen"? Of course not, it'd be the same old dance of "noob region, noob mmr, noob time of day, come play from my apartment at exactly 3:30am on a thursday or you're not playing real DBD sweetie" that people pull out in other situations already.
-
Not gonna happen until killer bots are added.
Why? As long as there's challenges, achievements and whatever else tasking survivors to do something at endgame, they're not gonna do this. They've been trying to move away from situations where you basically need your opponent's consent to get something like that done (such as Myers mori achievement, which before you just had to hope people didn't camp lockers to deny you it)
-
Seeing someone I remember being a cheater or super high ping and.. that's about it. And by "super high" I mean the matchmaker clearly having a moment and misplacing me by a continent, swear sometimes "cursed lobbies" where EVERYONE has 150ms+ show up and I don't blame anyone for dodging those.
-
@Carth said:
Disagree because what would that really acomplish? On both sides the gameplay would be nitpicked to hell and back just to deny the person's point;
"Omg these survivors are garbage, no wonder you think killer is OP".
"2 of the 4 survivors weren't running exhaustion perks..no wonder you think X is overpowered",
"uh yeah, a stacked team with 4 toolboxes with bnp + hyperfocus & stakeout will crush a bad ghostface, is that really your point?"
"Are you seriously running pebble and complaining about killers camping and tunneling?"
"Kate was throwing when she tried to mind game the kaneki like a dummy and went down in 5 seconds, game was over after that"
"This has to be a low MMR game because X did Y lol, do you really think something needs to be nerfed because your games are like this?"
There's no world where the gameplay will actually be acknowledged as "ok yeah you have a point", it will just be "anecdotal!! And the people/you are bad and so therefore your point deserves zero thought".This. Or just even more silly stuff like "you're playing in a noob region", "you're not even playing at 3:32am on a weekday with a full moon out" and so on.
It's very easy to forgive even genuine massive misplays if the footage is supposed to support your claim, and dissect it like anything short of playing it as perfect as a dbd match converted to a spreadsheet of timers "doesn't count" otherwise. People already do it WHEN people post gameplay or refer to content creators for examples of stuff.
-
It's a game mode that historically has had trouble making survivors want to play it to a sufficient degree, and from what I've seen from queue times this is to some degree STILL the case! Queue times are king, it doesn't matter in the slightest what the siding of this event or that is if BHVR sees a too significant queue time disparity, that shows they better strive to make the understaffed role more appealing by adding stuff to it.
-
It's honestly utterly irrelevant if it's this-sided or that-sided. Queue times are king, killer queues are nasty long in my experience, so they want and need more people to play survivor. Simple as that.
-
No, I like more randomness. I'd be totally fine with random items for survivors too, even though comparing them to add-ons when survivors are for the most part just cosmetic is a little wrong, it's closer to how the killer can choose what killer to play (which I by no means want to stop being a thing)
I've gotten meme addons as killer and true mastermind builds like the no mither/resurgence/second wind/overcome I got earlier today. Did it go that well? Not at all, but that's just how it is in the mode sometimes 😄
-
I personally love it, it's the only modifier that genuinely makes me want to play the game more than usual. Lights out was always meh to me, 2v8 gets old sorta fast for me, chaos shuffle just keeps being a good time.
I just do my best and try to get some value out of all my perks and have fun with it off that alone.
-
Because they can, and it'd be pretty tricky to try to stop it without unintended side effects, like the sometimes proposed idea of making protection hits disable endurance/DS.. take one moment to think about how obvious it is that'd cause problems, getting in the way of the perks doing their intended job. Not even just around hooks, just imagine running from the killer with DS active, and because an injured Dwight was in a bush that neither you or the killer knew about it counts as a protection hit and your DS turns off 🙃
And yes, I'd argue even most people that might think stuff like hard tunneling off the bat is bad think that if someone actually throws themselves in your face, it's utterly ridiculous for them to complain about you going for them.
-
I genuinely do feel this would be added shortly after the introduction of killer bots, if not with it. Because with the amount of "do thing at endgame" challenges/quests/whatever it's practically a prerequisite.
-
When I say please no that's coming from a place with absolutely zero thoughts regarding balance going into it. Matchmaking already implodes over little things like someone waiting a bit too long or someone leaving the lobby, it does not need more variables that can make it fail.
You either get a multiplier to whatever queue time woes you already have at your location/time of day/mmr, or you get a likely increase in horrible mismatches. No thank you.
-
Got on some weirdo's naughty list for reasons I am still unsure about to this day back in the p2p days. If I ran into them with them as killer they'd blatantly lagswitch to kill me then play normally with the rest. I have genuinely zero clue what on earth motivated them to do it, what I "did". Just told me to stop playing stupid when I asked with honest bewilderment in my mind.
Didn't last long, so I can only assume they did it enough to get banned pretty swiftly.
-
MMR was always meant to be infinitely more like the "hidden quickplay mmr" of many other games, not the ranked points that determine if you're gold or platinum. The devs should've genuinely told us way less about the system (what specific numbers is low-mid-high-top x%, softcap, backfill matchmaking and so on), in fact it would've been beneficial for the system working properly as what it is (a matchmaking variable and nothing more) if they straight up lied in our faces and just claimed they were experimenting with the old matchmaking system.
-
A single player accidentally getting banned for this due to simply being inexperienced/playing bad would instantly make any positive of any number of people that "deserve it" getting suspended evaporate in an instant. That kinda thing is a nightmare scenario.
-
Why? If they say something reportable, report them and it's just like reporting anyone else. If not, it also makes zero difference if they're anon or not. At least on Steam if someone wants to not be remembered they can change their name and entire profile up whenever they want.
-
If they say anything reportable, you can report them. If not, you have the option to hide chat. I don't know if blocking people perma hides any chat in future games you get in with that particular person, but if not that should absolutely be a thing too to be fair.
-
There's no killer bots, and there are challenges and other stuff that relate to doing stuff at endgame. A survivor abandoning can in no way stop a killer from getting any challenges/achievements as the bot remains, this would not be the case for a killer abandon that ends the game.
Absolutely nothing against the idea of such an abandon option but I find it very unlikely it'll be implemented without killer bots as a result. Don't think they want another case of "You nasically need your opponent's permission to do your thing" situation like with the Myers tombstone achievement.
-
Good limiter for perk design purposes. I have zero doubt there are perks "safer" in design than they could be, exactly because they know that even if it'd be perfectly fine on its own it'd get stacked with 2+ other sources of the same modifier for undesirable results.
-
Push for killer bots being added then. A survivor abandoning/disconnecting doesn't interfere with the killer's ability to do any challenges or achievements in the game, meanwhile a killer doing so ends the match and as a result does exactly that. They clearly don't want any more Myers tombstone achievement situations where you basically need an opposing player's permission to do such things.
I am serious, I am convinced this is an important part of the reason why there won't be killer abandon options until they add killer bots.
-
You still get to see the mori and you still get to do any "kill a survivor by your own hands" challenge/achievement/whatever without bringing anything to enable you to do so earlier. It genuinely confuses me why people care if there's someone there to see it on the other end.
And before someone thinks they're a genius but going "what about—" I wouldn't have any issues with killer abandon at endgame either. But I'm also aware that if you want that, what you should be pushing for is killer bots as it's exceptionally unlikely it'll ever be implemented before them for the same achivement/challenge related reasons that the killer still gets a chance to deal with the final survivor that just went bot after an abandon on the floor (there's a lot that task survivors with doing something at endgame/after gates are powered).
-
I'd like it as an option, even in the regular game. Same with the "mystery perk" filler "perk" that goes in your perk loadout if you go check it in chaos shuffle before the match.
But it should 100% be optional.
-
As long as matchmaking already breaks down if a single person dodges a lobby I don't want to make it have any more variables to juggle.
-
No, it's whitelisted to the point where when EAC has suddenly ended up blocking it after an update (block, not ban - the cleanest solution IF the devs wanted to stop it, just make it not work) it was quickly recognized as a bug and fixed to work again on EAC's side. It's beyond a "eh we don't really care" and when it has stopped to work, changes were made to make it work again.
Of course that means something like it could happen again at some point where it accidentally dishes out bans instead of blocking it, but Reshade isn't a sneaky program trying to help people use it for sneaky purposes and it's very easy to recognize it for any anticheat. I consider this exceptionally unlikely but of course if something like that happened it's BHVR's policy to not help you out with any automated bans you get, that's where the "use at your own risk" comes from. I personally consider the risk of this to be a purely theoretical one, but you know - it is a non-zero probability if you want to look at it that way.
-
Some seriously wild "You prefer waffles over pancakes? So you HATE pancakes and want pancake enjoyers to SUFFER!?" thinking on display over this particular vote, I swear.
-
High latency + lots of other people joining and leaving. High likelihood it's a cursed server where for some reason the game decided to put everyone on one where they'll have 120ms+.
Aaaand that's basically it. Only other reason would be if I saw someone I know for a fact from a previous encounter is a cheater.
-
I think it's great but it should 100% be an option. Some might not want people to join as freely all the time, while others do - just make it an option and everyone wins.
-
I play how I'd want others to play against me. The good old classic.
And also a big one as in the past (as in before I even started playing DBD) I was a total rage gremlin: I will NEVER under ANY circumstances take frustrations from match A out on unrelated player(s) in match B. I consider this indefensible without exception, as long as we're talking about people just being obnoxious in game and not actual rulebreaking behavior of course.
-
That it's actually matchmaking changes in disguise, as long as matchmaking remains lobotomized and terrified that if someone has to wait even 1 minute more than they would otherwise they'll hop off and go play Minecraft instead it really doesn't matter what they change about mmr itself.
-
It makes perfect sense for the 2v8 survey as desperately trying everything from sky-high bp incentives to having killers able to play survivor in queue still doesn't even out queue times at all. Hopefully the conclusion they make is to add actually fun content like new classes and/or maybe interesting mechanics based on the "theming" of any given iteration of 2v8 and such, as at least that might have a little chance of actually doing something.
-
Until they add actually interesting new content like new and fun classes or at the very least unique mechanics depending on the theme of that run of 2v8 (like how the RE themed one had herbs on the map, but it'd have to be more interesting than that) it's quite simply unfixable. Matchmaking is already exceptionally relaxed, it's just a raw numbers game.

Are people just not aware of this? MANY survivors do actually alrdy see who the killer is, and their build. That is why survivor lobby dodging is so prevelant. I don't remember how they do it, if it was a straight up cheat, trick or software. I didn't look more into it, cause I was so angry/disgusted by it. But this actually is a thing. I'm baffled that this is not more widely known at this point.
The method you're likely talking about was fixed long ago. At least I assume it's the log file method, which stopped being feasible the moment BHVR encrypted the text file in question instead of letting people see killer cosmetic names as they loaded into the lobby.
Can people do it another way with more "hardcore" cheating methods today like actual cheat clients? Maybe, I don't know. But WAY less people will dare to do something that might actually get them banned than something that due to how it worked was unquestionably 100% consequence free.
-
Can't speak for anyone else but same as above for me. EU servers, still feel as fast as they have been for me personally.
-
Spirit.
No deep reason, I just don't have fun using her power. Doesn't matter if I do well or not, simply using her power isn't fun to me so why would I play her?
-
I'm genuinely getting completely brainblasted trying to understand how on earth they possibly thought not cleansing infection on unhook was a good idea.
-
Hatch escapes should just count for achievements, challenges, quests and whatever else, even emblems if you ask me. 4K slugging is an eternal discussion already, but the very strange flavor where not even the killer actually wants to do it but some checkbox encourages them to do it? That should've been eliminated years ago if you ask me.
-
I'm just kinda disappointed, excited to see some sort of radical change to the game get to do its thing as we see exactly how it changes things on a non-PTB live setting. And I agree there were parts of it that needed tweaking, the PTB is great and all but whatever they revise it to and bring back still won't be perfect and eventually they just have to add something and change it over time from there.
-
Gee I wonder why, not like there's examples of more public-facing devs attaching their names to statements and changes getting immense amount of trash thrown their way as well as genuine harassment for reasons like saying they like don't like Skull Merchant or saying something that at worst just sounds a little out of touch, right?
Even just Almo back in the day as one example got a lot of trash thrown his way, and even me myself caught several threads that went way beyond "constructive criticism" pop up that absolutely 100% deserved to be deleted + OP banned quickly afterwards.

I believe many people do it, personaly when I want to play some normal bubba and I will get tryharding swf genrushing and then calling me babby and bad with full meta and coms ofcourse after few games like this in one evening I will say srew it and pick lich, ghoul or someone who is stronger and can deal with this type of teams with more chill than bubba because I play this game to have normal match not stress more than in work thats it.
That's not even what I'm talking about, nothing "toxic" about playing a different killer no matter if it's a stronger one, you're 100% good there.
I'm talking about the thing where people go out of their way to specifically be annoying. Luckily a lot of the stuff people could do for it are less bad nowadays compared to in the past but that's what I'm talking about, someone doing that kinda thing to unrelated players to "vent".
EDIT: I do also heavily disagree with some of your other posts in this thread, acting like killers have a better "reason" to be toxic. Anyone taking frustration out on unrelated player(s) don't get to whine when the cycle of toxicity comes back to bite them in the butt again down the line, they actively contributed to keeping it going no matter their justification.

Most toxic killers are just frustrated from previous matches against toxic teams so they beat their anger and frustration on others and think they will behave to them like previous teams. I had some sabbo or flashlight annoying squads which were normal and friendly in chatt and then worst are sore loosers swfs they are worst toxic creatures in this game.
If someone gets to the point where they feel the need to do weird e-vigilante "vent games" the correct move is to shut the game off and do something fun for a while and come back later.
Taking frustrations from game A out on unrelated player(s) in game B is just a bad idea that keeps the cycle going.
-
Some do and some even streamed. Lets be real it'd very quickly just turn into "but they're not playing in high enough mmr" or "they're playing in a noob region unlike me" or "they don't play at 3:40am on a tuesday when all the real gamers come out", the goalposts move quickly for some people in situations like this just like when people dare to talk about (or show, in the case of content creators) something that supports a stance they disagree with.
-
Reshade setups are allowed, stuff like removing grass and the even more extreme """tweaks""" like that require straight up cheat software to even use as far as I'm aware.
Reshade can be blocked whenever a developer want. It's not a sneaky program that wants to be used when devs don't want it to work, and many games have had no issues putting out patches where one day it works, and the next day users are hit with a simple "Hey! Please disable Reshade to make the game launch again." message. PUBG did it at one point, Escape from Tarkov did it when they added their own sliders in game for people to use, I'm sure others did it. NVIDIA filters I'm pretty sure devs can opt out of by contacting NVIDIA in some way.
So it's not a matter of the software making them impossible to block. BHVR could do so whenever they want, but they don't. So they're completely allowed, Reshade suddenly not working in DBD after some update to it or EAC was rapidly acknowledged as a bug and fixed at least once in fact (not by BHVR, but by EAC or Reshade themselves I think?)
-
If you mean the challenge your best bet is honestly hits that miss at window/pallet vaults. Finesse is a great perk for this, as it can let you vault very quickly and be more likely to have the killer go for a swing that ends up missing.
-
A friend that got into the game not thaat long ago said they didn't see Hag until they got to around 300 hours and yeah I can believe it honestly.
-
It's a nice thought, but people would absolutely find ways to force a crash.
It's like back before stable broadband connections became the assumed norm they are today, and a lot more people were on shakier connections. Quite a few games tried to be lenient by not tracking disconnects as a loss, and instead having a seperate DC percentage stat. It was quite common to run into players with insane win/loss ratios like 78-2, and something like a 68% DC ratio. You just immediately knew the only way you'd see the end of that match is if you lose, as if you start winning they'd DC without hesitation.
I do disagree with the new system where the penalty doesn't start ticking down until you start to queue again though. That actually disproportionately impacts people that just crashed, as even if they're done for the day after that they have to re-launch the game and start a queue just to not have to wait it out the next time they want to play.
Someone that genuinely ragequitted can just immediately hit re-queue no matter if they're planning to play more or not. That was a bad change, it's perfectly fine that the penalty starts ticking down immediately like it used to, habitual disconnectors will still rack up a hefty penalty and they're the ones that should be the primary target anyway.
-
Not really a main of one thing or another but the BP multiplier on BBQ&Chili, was just all around good to have in the game for so many different reasons.
-
Actually positively surprised, guess they do realize that having an automated system not only cause false positives but even do so when something that might've been frustrating already (getting tunneled) was then followed up with getting punished for it.
It's way way better to err on the side of caution. Will it mean people that "should" be hit by the system might get away with it here and there? Probably. Is that WAY better than false positives on innocent players? Without question.
-
What "accountability" are you talking about? They can still be reported like any other player, and unless you do stuff like check every profile you can (if on Steam, dunno how this works on other platforms) nowadays people can change their name. Especially on Steam, where the only limit is you can't just non-stop spam name changes, like 10 in 5 minutes type spam.
And for every "good" use of profile access like that if you mean checking if people are ones you've marked with a steam block or something, you'll have several using it to rage post in comments, or even get giga mad at someone for daring to have comment permissions set to friends only/private. Or game details (hours), or friend details (swf status check) or whatever other privacy shaming that has always been rampant in the community.
I support the total obliteration of profile access for ALL players though, so I guess I indirectly support the "don't let anon check profiles" idea. As I don't think anyone should be able to snoop, ever.
