  • I'm pretty sure unless it's somehow something that can't possibly be killswitched, nobody will get banned for that kinda thing ever again. And even then, it might just be an overall rule that they'll killswitch if possible (which it will be most of the time) and fix as soon as they can, with no bans.

  • That's randomness for you, there's a reason systems like playlist shuffles have a history of intentionally making it LESS random ("weighted shuffle" and such) - true randomness can easily feel like it's not that random at all unless you play a LOT of games. Like, more games than someone can realistically play.

I've gotten scene partner once and barely seen it otherwise, for me I've been getting Up The Ante and Kindred a lot. And my friend I play with goes "Smash Hit AGAIN?" when he gets it 😄

  • Just makes it a traditional blacklist of words, stop trying to be "clever" and read "context" or whatever it's doing.

I've seen the SAME WORD being blocked for one player while another can type it. How does that make sense? Is one player analyzed to be more angry than the other?

  • It has nothing to do with strength or reputation, but Spirit. I don't know what it is, but I have absolutely zero fun using her power so why would I play her?

  • According to the conversation in that reddit threat + DBD being crossed out on the list, it seems like it was some sort of mistake and it's back to how it used to be again now. Not that I really know for sure as I don't use it, but that's how I'm reading it anyway.

  • It should simply show that someone has it so people have a better chance of actually playing around it without being in a swf with the person on hook before anything else.

  • I feel it should be available once you get into the match, so on the "pause" menu + maybe shown during the start-of-match spin. In a perfect world I'd love to see it in the lobby too, but anything that might cause a meaningful amount of dodging isn't something I want at all as long as backfill is as goofy as it is.

I'd be happy with the game just showing perks determined to be relevant when they're something to think about. Show the slugged guy has Unbreakable/is in an Exponential boon, show who has inactive Deliverance with no hooks when someone gets put on the hook (so you can try to let them get the save), show who has active Deliverance while they're hooked and can use it. That sorta thing.

But just making the perks easy to quickly check for yourself is probably a more future-proof solution that causes less icons to pop up on the screen.

  • I do wonder if what people put in the little box ever gets read by anyone, because I remember someone that I played with through some friend of a friend connection saying he used it. When I at one point watched him play the way he used it was to… "vent" in that box, writing some of the most unhinged garbage I've seen that'd get you banned real quick if you put it in chat.

  • Considering the bizarre uptick of it I've seen recently.. sweet, now people can accuse others of "botting" or "using alt accounts" for both the upvotes they get on their "disagreeable opinions", AND the downvotes they themselves get! 🤣

Can't explain it but this always worked for me. With ingame ticket, ofc

It absolutely usually will, but they could change their custom URL between your report and the report being investigated.

Your situation Is probably not reportable.

For further reports: You can just copy the last number or words in their steam profile:

    https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/12345678901234567

Only do this if it says "profiles" and not "id" before the numbers. If it says "profiles" that's the steamid64 being shown, if it says "id" they specified a custom url to use instead, which is not persistent at all.

  • I've honestly never seen people get as worked up about people daring to use privacy features in any other game, not even people getting steam blowing out of their ears in anger like a cartoon character over private profiles/stats in Overwatch comes close. And it's really not a survivor/killer thing, this whole "Oh, you don't want me to see your profile? You must be hiding something!" mindset as weird as it is comes in all sorts of forms.

Can't possibly be that I don't want people to browse my stuff while still super mad, it must be to "hide swf" or "dodge "deserved" -reps" or whatever else. Not even just anon mode, some of the same people get big mad if you have game hours or friends list hidden as well.

  • Firstly, your first sentence already made me tempted to just nope out of here. It wasn't added "to prevent survivors lobby dodging", it was added when it was ready in less than a month after release as they could only have it or customs/KYF ready for launch, and they chose the latter. It was a multiplayer game released in 2016, thinking it wasn't planned from the start is honestly almost unbelievable.

And your entire forced proxy chat idea simply doesn't work. On consoles there's no way the devs would be allowed to implement it, consoles really don't let devs interfere with party chat and people's preference for party chat vs game chat in any way. Call of Duty no longer does it in its more "tactical" game modes despite doing it in the past, games like Among Us can't do anything beyond asking extra nicely that people don't ruin the game either. So you'd basically be asking them to take the game off consoles, because if Call of Duty as a huge franchise and Among Us type games as ones where the gentleman's agreement is essential to not completely invalidate the point of playing the game doesn't get special treatment DBD stands no chance of getting it.

And on PC? Easily circumvented in several different ways, so what's the point? Believe me it's not the casual squads that just hang out while playing DBD that might not bother to bypass you'd want to "nerf" anyway. And even they would probably do it to be able to talk like a friend group does without having to be near each other in-game assuming that'd be a part of it as well.

  • Knowing if the pallet in the tile ahead of you got used without having to be a telepath or having signed a blood oath to immediately combust if you ever play outside of a 4man is pretty handy.

  • I'm confident they won't but I'm gonna let it be known too: If this makes it to the live game, I'm immediately uninstalling permanently. If this makes it to a future iteration of 2v8, I'm not touching it with a 3 lightyear pole no matter how fun I find the mode itself. I do not want to play with bots, I do not want to play against them.

  • Trust me I'm sure they'd love to have more local servers as well, but kinda hard to do when Amazon doesn't have any infrastructure like that in the entire very large country that Russia is iirc.

And why they're in European servers in particular, look up a population density map of Russia. You'll see that a lot of the country's population would make absolutely no sense to put on asian servers.

  • If they actually break any rules, you can still report them. If not, I'll take that over the people with everything public with Steam profiles making it as clear as humanly possible they're on their figurative knees begging for angry comments to add to heckin epic dbd trolling compilation 32.

  • It absolutely did cause problems. There's really no getting around the stereotype that DPS was the role that had the biggest need for passes basically at all times, so you'd have high rank DPS players pick the most "dps-like" tanks/supports and just pretend they're the 3rd dps on the team no matter if it screws everyone else over. And that's if they even cared, you got more passes for winning but you still got them for losing so they could just not even care at all and still get what they wanted, just put in enough apparent effort to not get banned for straight up griefing/throwing.

And with time, it doesn't really help queue times that much either. Because having the pass becomes standard, like the sorta-meme of a theme park having a premium line-skip pass, then a premium-premium line skip pass because even the premium line gets long.

In DBD taking this to its logical conclusion leads to an obvious result. Want a killer pass? Hop on survivor, load in and just try to be killed as fast as humanly possible. Make it require BP earned or even escaping and people find ways to try to optimize that, AND you run into the issue of perfectly honest players potentially getting frustrated at unlucky games for missing out on a pass.

  • The fact people not only defend but at times even glorify people doing "vent games". You know the type, player(s) in match A did something annoying so they're gonna take it out on player(s) in match B. Almost without exception hypocrites that would never extend the assumption that an opponent is doing what they're doing for the same reason, or if even more role-brained they'll just straight up think only their role has the "right" to do it to begin with.

And for purely game and not community things, playing Spirit. It doesn't matter if she's strong, average or weak, I quite simply despise using her power and as a result playing her. But luckily I can simply not play her.

  • The answer is simple, it's possible because matchmaking is so wait time prioritized that it can take hundreds of matches to actually construct a match that isn't a thermonuclear hyperstomp by the player that plays the game for a living.

Obviously a challenge streak makes it much harder to beat a few of those highlight matches before finally losing, but even if you look at several 100s/1000+ streaks with less restrictions it's usually a highlight reel of <10-20 games that are remotely competitive ones, and even fewer of those that really make them "sweat" to the end. Personally I think that's crazy but hey, the people have spoken and the matchmaking system believes if someone has to wait longer than 1 minute they'll log off and play Minecraft instead, so here we are.

  • I just wish it was a regular blacklist instead of whatever "smart" system that makes innocent sentences seem sus as often as this one.

I will forever think Steam's own built in system that some valve games also use is the best. Preset filters ranging from everything including profanity to slurs only (or the entire thing turned off), then another customizable list where you can input any word you want.

  • Compensation for changing something that didn't even get tested on the PTB and ended up clearly needing more time in the oven?

  • Pretty sure the one way people have been able to actually get suspended for being AFK is if it's a consistent pattern that points towards basically afk farming iridescent shards. Not an isolated game, but repeatedly queuing up just to be afk over and over.

  • That's him breaking a pallet, and the aura of it lifting up to show that you can rebuild it! You wouldn't see the aura of intact upright pallets as Scout, when you see one it means a pallet can be rebuilt there.

I was confused about the exact same thing until I realized 😄

  • Only if I see the 4th survivor with my own eyes right as I down the 3rd. Otherwise I won't, for the very simple reason that I find it boring to do and would rather just speed up the end of the match and get into a new one.

  • Until 0 players can see any info that isn't directly gameplay related (basically survivor picked and item equipped, as item counter pick perks and such is a part of the game), then I think everyone should see names/anon mode status of everyone in the lobby. Trust me I'd rather no one gets to see it so there's no room for dodging based on "I don't like that guy!" or "Don't want to play with anon mode!", but until 0% of players get to make decisions like that, 100% of them should be able to.

  • There's no such thing, as more and more generations that grew up with/around video games get older it'll only get even more normalized than it is now. Do people stop watching TV or reading books just because they get older? Not at all.

  • I can't say for sure if it has changed as I haven't really trophy hunted for a long time, but I'm pretty sure any achievements added post-launch don't count towards Platinum? Platinum isn't always the same as 100% achievements done.

  • I don't really see anyone ask for that regularly at all.

Maybe people saying that as long as killer can see names/if people use anon mode and so on then survivors should see the killer's name (with the potential profile access that comes with it), and even as someone that would prefer that kinda thing being made completely inaccessible to everyone I.. kinda get that.

If stuff like "I don't want to play with anon mode/ttvs/whatever!" or whatever is valid from a killer perspective, then it's valid from a survivor one too. I don't think it is, but I do genuinely believe that as long as more than 0% of players have the info needed to make such decisions, then 100% of players should have it. I'd much rather see it be changed to no one having it though.

  • Just like with swf matchmaking there's no perfect solution. Can it suck to try to introduce a new player that's gonna be an obvious weak link to survivor or trying a new killer near your regular mmr? Of course. Is it a good idea to let experienced players intentionally go to baseline mmr as easily as simply letting another player be the party host or swapping from Clown to Demogorgon? No.

Individual killer mmr has always existed, but it has always put your "fresh" mmr somewhere in the "near your regular/highest mmr, but a bit below it" range as far as I know.

  • Pretty sure this was meant to be removed but wouldn't be surprised if that somehow crept its way back when moris are being a little weird at the moment.

Obviously there's absolutely zero reason imaginable for that to be a thing, that kinda goes without saying.

  • Unless something changes any matches with a disconnect in them is discounted, and bots only show up in live matches when someone disconnects. So they probably aren't included in the data as a result.

  • "Vent games" where people have a bad time in match A and take it out on player(s) in match B are just plain disgusting and I really don't care about the reasons.

If someone gets to that point they should turn the game off and do something else as they're clearly beyond tilted. If they get to that point often enough to make that impractical, I'd be happy if they quit or got banned. Good riddance to community poison. Please get that sorted out before ever playing any multiplayer game again.

Sure feels like a hot take with how often people straight up say they do it or justify it, or how you might even get threads of someone being bled out or something is hit with "well how do we know you didn't tbag??" replies… and then "okay but another survivor might've done it in the previous match though" even after they upload the entire match.

  • I see no reason why especially when you're the last survivor and on the ground you can't either just straight up teleport to a basement hook or put yourself on a hook by crawling to it. Last survivor is already rushed through hook stages so it's not like it can be used for a sick Deliverance play or something, it's a purely time-saving gg go next mechanic. And before someone says it yes I also support a lever in the basement for the killer that instantly makes all survivors that are still in the match escape.

I'd say this is worse than tbagging ever can be though. You can outplay and hit a mid-match tbagger, and if at the gates you can direct the camera towards the gate and press W to make it stop real quick, no perks required. In situations like OP posted the survivor has zero agency unless packing certain perks and needs the killer's "consent" to not be there for the full duration. Not saying it should be bannable as it's something that could be mechanically eliminated with features like the ones mentioned above.

  • The devs have actual data from the test they ran where they hid it for some players and not for others that the group with hidden prestiges dodges less lobbies. They also know and BHVR people have posted on this very forum that dodging can hurt matchmaking quality.

They should not make it optional. Someone that'd dodge a P100 will likely just assume anyone with hidden prestige = P100 by default.

  • And people wonder why they don't keep it around permanently, would make the complaints about the big changes that come with early iteration way more severe.

I don't see how anyone could possibly be surprised they'd throw a lot of stuff up to see what sticks when not even huge bp modifiers could make the queue times budge closer to a healthy state.

  • Unless they completely re-do the way the game detects protection hits (and "chase" for other reasons, but that's a different discussion) I don't want anything to turn off based on them. I don't know about you, but not making any effort to take protection hits while being genuinely tunneled, then having your DS turn off because you just happened to be hit near an injured Dwight healing with a medkit that neither you or the killer even knew was there would be an absolutely horrible interaction. And this isn't stopped by giving a grace period to avoid the obvious problems that'd pop up without the grace period (just force trades = ez free DS deactivation every time). And as bonus spice on top it's even an additional solo-swf gap! Swf can just say "steer clear if injured until my ds runs out" or something, while solo just has to hope there isn't someone injured around the corner they're about to round.

The entire point of conspicious actions is that they're 100% in the survivor's control, it's an active decision that they make, them announcing "Yes game, I agree to having my perk(s) turn off" by touching a gen or something. Protection hits are not like that at all unless they make the system for detecting them a lot smarter than "if close to injured survivor, protection hit".

For the same reason I personally wouldn't mind if lockers disabled it, because last I checked you can't be forcibly stuffed into a locker or stumble into it 😄 that is an actively taken decision.

  • Either just shrug and go next, find the right ancient forgotten deity to make a suitable sacrifice to for a blessing of good matchmaking, or sign a pact that soul-binds you to never play outside of a 4man again. That's basically your options.

  • People can demand whatever they want, don't play live service games if you don't understand that you're merely buying a license to use X in whatever state X ends up in and nothing more than that.

  • As someone that's of the belief basically every game ever should have press/toggle options for actions like that, 100% agree. Preferably seperate commands that can be bound to different keys if you want, but even just an optional toggle would be sweet.

  • They changed it to reduce dodging, something that has actual experimental data to support it as a decision. They did the AB test where some had it hidden, that group dodged less. When they know (and have said on this very forum) that dodging hurts matchmaking via backfill and such, it makes perfect sense to hide it for all.

Optional would just make the dodging concerns worse than before. Because then not only will P100s get dodged by dodge-happy players, anyone that opts to hide it for any reason will simply be assumed to be P100 by someone that's dodge-happy no matter if they're actually P2.

  • Plot Twist truly deserves its spot on the "Hey maybe this perk should tell other survivors it's in play??" list. Someone quietly going down in a strange spot when not even in a chase should be clear enough but you know.

  • @UndeddJester said:

Even though I fully support the hide prestige change...

I think unlocking a p100 charm for that character only that you could equip on your hook/waist would be a pretty cool compromise.

This achieves what players like the OP want, they get to show their p100 status but it's entirely optional.

This is actually one of the best ways to let people "show off" if they want to, some sort of cosmetic unlock. It doesn't have any of the icky "you use a privacy feature? you must be hiding something bad!" problems of stuff like optional hidden prestige. It's not perfect as people could still dodge it, but at least then people essentially actively opt into the risk of that happening to them.

I still greatly prefer hidden for all as in my anecdotal experience match quality really takes a nosedive with a few dodges and backfills, but it's the best middle-ground I've seen proposed!

  • Picking up the box in itself applies the Oblivious status effect, no perks required. It's just part of his power.

  • Eh, the way I see it if you made it to endgame you either didn't get tunneled, or the killer tried and you giga outplayed them and basically carried the game for your fellow survivors.

I'd rather see the game reward that more properly instead of going "whoops you didn't do a lot of gens and altruism while being chased all game so no pip for you, and you died so that's a hockey-loss for you :^)" personally.

  • Remove every single piece of information besides stuff with actual loadout considerations attached to it (items selected by survivors) and visual stuff (survivor chosen + outfit). Prestige is a good removal, next nuke profile access and perhaps even names.

Devs have said on this very forum dodging hurts matchmaking quality, and they've said when they did the prestige hiding AB test the group that had prestige hidden dodged less. They have the stats to make it the 100% correct choice to eliminate as many reasons for dodging as possible.

  • Just flip map offerings on their head and make them ban the realm instead honestly.

  • Doesn't work as protection hits aren't always intentional. Just imagine how bad it'd be to get hit when you think you have endurance, go down, then see an injured Claudette you didn't even know was there, not even the killer knows she's there! The system doesn't care about anything else than "are you near an injured survivor when you get hit?"

The far better solution is to look into disabling collision. They want to bodyblock? Walk through them.

  • While I don't get the appeal of doing it in the first place myself and don't care when people try it on me, it's just plain pathetic when someone dishes it out but can't take it.

At best it's just simple hypocrisy, at worst it's the DBD brain rot version where they've convinced themsevles it's okay and actually super righteous when their role does it because.. reasons, but not okay when their opponent(s) do it!!

  • I'm so glad they didn't go for the "make it a toggle!" idea that'd actually make it worse (as then both open P100s and anyone DARING to use a privacy feature in a community that has a creepy amount of privacy shaming would be dodged for the same reason).

Got a good feeling when I saw prestige was invisible in the 2v8 lobby, I'm glad that turned out to be a sign of something good to come.
