I'm just looking at history of bugs and exploits in this game and so far people getting banned for killer related things are only complains I have seen whine none for survivor ones.

Also, QA is a heresy and whoever says that word in behaviour office gets burned at the stake.

The old Asylum out-of-bounds exploit as well as the dropdown exploits that allowed survivors to trap killers as long as they wanted both led to bans I'm pretty sure.

Not that it would make much sense to complain about people getting banned for any of those, as they both were extreme cases of taking the game hostage. Pretty obviously something that should be punished.

I'm pretty sure people were actually banned for exploiting double blades.

I don't know about thana bug but I remember clown bug with his finger licking fog of insta down.

Yeah, they were banned after the devs put out an announcement. What I mean is that after that incident it seems like the devs realized that's not how they want to deal with bugged perks and the like. They would rather try to at least stop people from posting literal guides on how to do it here on the forums, and patch it in their next patch as OPPOSED to banning for it.

I just mean that it's not some sort of bias (while Wake Up! was bugged there were MORE killer-side things that were bugged, and none were bannable), but a change in their approach to dealing with exploitable bugs.

  • After the legion double blades incident it has become pretty clear they'd rather just try to prevent the spread of such bugs and then patch them when they can as opposed to banning. Just like they learned from the Freddy release fiasco they learned that banning isn't what they want to do (like how they didn't ban for stuff like wake up, PWYF, legion blades bug #2, thana bug and so on)

Cheaters will always find a crutch somehow, right? I give up. This forum is so survivor biased, why even try? Everytime someone mentions some kind of help for killers, the survivor clan attacks them, calls them a ######### player, tells them to get better, etc, etc.I'm out. โœŒ

It's not "survivor biased" in the slightest to point out that it's completely pointless and a waste of time to try to block VOIP applications in a multiplayer game with a party function, it's just straight up fact.

If that's "survivor biased" to you then I don't know what to tell you.

  • Restricting SWF isn't happening, devs obviously want to pursue the buff solos -> buff killers that need it approach.

Applying pressure + eliminating survivors as fast as possible (less survivors on gens better). And ds stays on my way for wanting to eliminate survivors as fast as i can.

How does that make more sense than saying something like Ruin or PGTW shouldn't exist because it gets in the way of doing generators as fast as possible? Effective strategies are not immune to having perks and mechanics that counteract them.

  • Getting hit is still better than stepping in a trap, so if you feel/know the spot you're looking at is trapped just take the hit and use the speed to head somewhere else.

Avoid/be careful around commonly trapped spots unless you've scouted them, like shack and a lot of the central structures and the routes around them. Try to use less safe structures like unsafe pallets, T/L walls, 3-lanes and so on and it will help you against a lot of trappers (some like to mix in some "SERIOUSLY?"-tier traps though ๐Ÿ˜„). You should also try to figure out if they trap vaults/windows directly or if they trap common routes around such defenses instead to be less predictable.

And as George_Soros said: might as well just risk it once you're hit. At that point there's no difference between stepping in a trap and getting hit again, you're going down regardless. Just gamble at that point, if it's not trapped you can loop.

And of course: bring dead hard. Never gets old to dead hard over traps.

  • Huntress and Trapper.

Hitting nice hatchets and having people step in traps just feels nice, what else can I say ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

  • Yeah they are hot garbage. Totally agree they should be turned into something more useful and interesting.

  • They banned for the original double legion bug but not for wake up, legion blades v2, PWYF bug or anything else more recent. It just seems like they learned they'd rather not ban unless it's something extremely urgent (like the old Asylum out of bounds bug that was rapidly popularized) and instead just fix it in the next patch.

  • Sorry but cleansing dull totems THAT YOU SEE BY CHANCE vs a Wraith or Freddy or something is not a waste of time, even if you personally don't use NOED it's quite common to see certain killers do so. I've had enough of people that give survivors that awkward stare or even sandbag them for "wasting time" on totems and then proceed to cry about NOED post-game.

Actively hunting them down is often a bad idea unless you have a map capable of tracking them easily or I guess small game though.

  • Buffs are generally better than nerfs unless something is so much more powerful than it should be that it's straight up bad for the health of the game.

  • Depends, really.

If I don't know where it is, probably never. Not going around looking for it, but if I know it's nearby I'll probably do so if it was a fun game.

  • It could be a cool thing if it wasn't for the classic "Avoid Player" issue.

If you basically give people the ability to dodge players they don't like then of course genuine idiots like lagswitchers and the like get dodged, but you also get all sorts of "dodging a killer for beating them" situations. From reasons that at least to some extent can be argued about like blatant griefing-minded campers, to genuine "I'm looking to bully and this guy is too good for that" idiocy. Just look at all the MLGA discourse, everyone agrees that someone with a connection powered by a broken hamster wheel is something you don't want to go against, but then people block killers for simply selecting nurse or whatever.

And yes I think killers shouldn't be able to see names either, it only encourages meta grudges extending past a single game.

  • I've seen it a grand total of 2 times since the nerf.

Once on someone who basically got themselves killed trying to get protection stacks while I was carrying other survivors, once on a genuine hero of a Bill that saved everyone's life at least once by taking a hit for them, me included. That guy honestly deserved it ๐Ÿ˜„

I thought that as well, but here's the joke though.

You can't use medkits while you have Deep Wounds. Mending action takes priority over healing, so you couldn't instaheal anyways even without the Broken status effect addon on Legion.

Makes it go from niche use to flat out useless beyond useless. Oh, and you have to hit that same target with FF twice then enjoy that nice, long FF stun! :D

Yeah the pin add-ons are just silly which is why I called it a total meme, but letting more add-ons apply broken would give them a niche use for those games where you get this funny voice in your head that says "see those 4 medkits? you KNOW what they are, don't you?"

EDIT: and I didn't even think of the fact that DW has that effect, but as it's just extra holding m1 without even skillchecks I'd honestly prefer broken.

Your first bit was right but the rest was trash. Its literally us vs them that's the point ofthegame and they are survivor biased. Look at how long it takes them to ever nerf a survivor vs killers getting nerfed every other day. MoM was literally the new DS bc survivors got a second chance for the killer doing well. Point being they care more about survivors getting an easy win than true balance. I play both sides so I'm pretty unbiased.

There's a difference between an us-vs-them mentality in game (duh, it's a competitive game with winners and losers) and taking it out of the game and into balance discussions. It's not a zero-sum game where a buff to one side automatically comes with a direct nerf to the other, especially not when it's just bloodpoint generation or something.

  • Mangled add-ons can be okay if they last for like 2 minutes+ or something even if they're not very interesting.

Seeing that one total meme of an add-on that is the Legion pin that applies Broken, perhaps that could be more interesting... because you can't instaheal while you're broken ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

  • Playing a game more or less as a job is something that WILL burn people out unless it's the very rare situation where the game is one of those magical games they could play 24 hours a day if they didn't have to sleep, eat and basically live. I'm sure we've all had games we simply don't want to stop playing, and if that game is DBD for a DBD streamer they're one lucky person.

A game you enjoy, even enjoy a LOT will eventually burn you out, which is why it's important to play and do entirely other things as well for everyone that has the time to play a lot.

It's a real shame I'm sure some feel obliged to play the game even if they really want to legitimately go play Civ 6 or something instead, but that's how it can be when you have an audience that primarily (or even ONLY) know you as "that DBD person".

  • @OMagic_ManO said:

I'm gonna ignore the bias not for any reason except a ton of people already spoke their mind already and I'm not too concerned about that topic right now.

You should play Survivor, trust me when I say you play better as a Killer when you get the Survivor mindset, easier to predict, regardless of hours.

This is also a very good point. Playing survivor makes you a better killer, just like playing killer makes you a better survivor. Know your enemy and all that.

  • There's no intentional bias, it's just a game where balancing for any given skill group will make it feel imbalanced to the others. It's just how it is with assymetrical games, like with how in L4D Versus the Survivors were quite strong and they had to come up with their own set of rules (confogl) for truly competitive purposes. As Gcarrara said DBD also allows players to choose what they want to play, and therefore allows for "maining" which leads to different perspectives than a game where you end up playing both no matter what.

EDIT: Dicussing WHO they should balance around does make sense though, but in the long run I feel that evening the SWF-Solo gap, buffing the killers that need it and going from there will be healthier than just balancing the game around optimal 4man death squads vs 5000 hour ebony mori omegablink nurse though.

Handling bugs/exploits isn't as simple as just removing them immediately, pushing a patch isn't that easy and if something is truly so incredibly wrong that it HAS to be done it might end up rushed and lead to new unforeseen bugs. Not to mention the difference between PC and consoles when it comes to getting new content pushed out to the users.

And on the Moris, Legion getting changed "for no reason" and bloodpoints... really? Mori 1.0 was incredibly silly, and bringing up punishing toxic survivors is no better than saying instaheals are fine because you could be against a nurse or something. Legion could do things that had absolutely no place in the game ("moonwalking"). You can discuss the change they recieved, but there was a very good reason they saw a change that certainly did decrease the lethality of their power. And for bloodpoints... I feel you're not supposed to be able to run the same add-ons every game, and it's not like survivors escape every game either. The Survival point category is really bad atm as well as 99% of the time it's just escaping, self-caring and hitting DS/wiggling out iirc?

  • @FredKrueger said:

How about they just run a program that disables mics and in-game chat? You shouldn't be able to talk to someone half way across the map to give out the killers every move. Or, make it realistic. The killer can hear you talking, and the closer you are the louder it gets.

If you mean blocking VOIP programs that's just not feasible. Even Steam itself has voice chat, and Discord isn't exclusively for voice chat either.

And if somehow they did make it work people could just use applications on their phone or something if they really wanted to - it just doesn't work.

  • Either work through it and become good at hitting greats (I'm worse than many at it but on good days I hit like 80%) or learn totem spawns really well. While in a perfect world people would just work through it becoming a totem guru might be a decent idea if you play solo in lower ranks as there's a lot of people that refuse to work through it AND they don't know where totems spawn.

  • If everyone just cleansed dull totems they ran past NOED would rarely activate in the first place. Sure there's maps that are an exception with the right totem spawns like obscure corners on The Game and the corners of the map on the Swamp, but still.

No denying it feels unfair and "lame" to get hit by NOED after not getting hooked all game, but at that point you already got to play to endgame so it's honestly not much of an issue in my opinion.

Never expect or feel entitled to escape until you run out the gate or jump into the hatch, just like a killer should never expect or feel entitled to a 4k until the last survivor is dead.

  • Honestly I agree to some extent. I used to be annoyed, but after getting what I want for the killers I play and my favorite survivor to P3 + all perks I kinda enjoy prestiging and just having to do my best with what I get, trying out perks and builds I'd never try otherwise.

I'd still like perks to only have 1 level or something as it's certainly rough on new players, but it's interesting how upside-down it flipped for me once I basically had everything I wanted.

  • Actually pay attention to what gens get done unless you like to be 3genned. It's generally a good idea to get central generators first, as it both opens the central structure (if there is one) for people to use in chases and immediately lowers the chance of getting 3genned.

It's also better to do riskier gens first. You know, the ones that have no pallets, windows or anything else near them. Statistically less likely the killer will come for you in particular, and they can be total death traps late game when pallets have been used, ESPECIALLY if part of a 3gen.
