Go for a stealthy build and disarm the traps at loops points. It will either force the killer to waste time resetting them or clear up the loop point. Got angry at how often i needed to reset traps. I did also sometimes give me people to target.
Avoid running through areas you can't see. Check the neanearby loop before you start on the gen.
Why am I helping you avoid my traps?! On second thought, don't worry about it. Those things are so easy to see, you can avoid them without effort. :)
Stay paranoid, it helps you out
If you are doing a gen, check the windows/pallets nearby to make sure there are no traps. Get in the habit of checking for traps when you pass by jungle gyms or certain loops. If you get chased, NEVER just run blindly to loops. Always run to loops you know are trap-free. If you have to run to a loop you aren't sure is trap-free try to do the first loop such that you avoid using the window/pallet so you can check for traps. Keep note of anywhere Trapper has been to recently because there will probably be traps there. Look at the floor when you are running around the map and avoid tall grass.
As soon you know it's a trapper, hike up your awareness a LOT. The earlier you notice (and potentially disarm) a trap, the less it'll affect you in the future.
Just gamble, unless u can clearly see a trap. Also, some traps are always at the same place, for example around the killer shack. Other than that, nothing you can really do during a chase. Since getting hit will get you downed always you just have to hope that there is no trap at the loop.
One more tip: when the Trapper is not breaking a save pallet, he will try to force you to run to other side of the loop. Usually this means there is a trap, so don't hug the wall of the loop.
Im paranoid too but i rarely have issues against him. He s not that hard to beat. Just know where killer was and always run around place you know that isnt trapped
Risk when you're already injured. I went down countless times because I was worried there's a trap on the other side of a vault, so I took a route where he could easily catch up to me.
Well, I am the same way as you and his traps when I step in one gives me a heart attack pretty much, but go to loops a trapper would not trap, pig tree and shack are the most trapped places imo so try not going to those loops, T walls are not safe either but check before usage, crouching is a great way to check for traps that are armed or disarmed, unless you are me and become a nurse out of thin air and teleport into the trap
Getting hit is still better than stepping in a trap, so if you feel/know the spot you're looking at is trapped just take the hit and use the speed to head somewhere else.
Avoid/be careful around commonly trapped spots unless you've scouted them, like shack and a lot of the central structures and the routes around them. Try to use less safe structures like unsafe pallets, T/L walls, 3-lanes and so on and it will help you against a lot of trappers (some like to mix in some "SERIOUSLY?"-tier traps though ๐). You should also try to figure out if they trap vaults/windows directly or if they trap common routes around such defenses instead to be less predictable.
And as George_Soros said: might as well just risk it once you're hit. At that point there's no difference between stepping in a trap and getting hit again, you're going down regardless. Just gamble at that point, if it's not trapped you can loop.
And of course: bring dead hard. Never gets old to dead hard over traps.
