This would be a real change targeting the "more skill" goal for sure. Is good? That's a different debate. But at least it would hit the main intention. However the current change made exactly the opposite: it removed skill and just nerfed the killer.
Of course, this is just me thinking of something at the top of my head, but at least this punishes improper use of his Chainsaw while not removing his skillful use of his Chainsaw. π
Edit: My OCD can't stand grammar errors!

Thank you for this @Hoodied it explains things very well.
The Devs do know their own game, they know their game very well indeed. And yes, Billy will now require that little bit more skill to effectively manage his power - I personally don't see that as a bad thing at all. He's still going to be very strong and there's still going to be counterplay to him.
Mandy, I really support the DBD developers, even when they make questionable decisions, but I don't think this is the best way to go about making Hillbilly require more skill.
If the developers wanted to make Hillbilly take more skill, they can do that without reducing his skill ceiling. For example: Curving was one of the most skillful things an experienced Hillbilly could pull off, but now the Overheat Mechanic removes the majority of that potential. If the developers wanted to punish improper use of Chainsaw without removing skillful use of the Chainsaw, add a cool-down after missing, not canceling the rev, with the Chainsaw.
I know you're probably stressed right now with all the comments jumping on you, but I can reassure you we all want the same thing here: to see DBD become successful! π

It makes no difference on what platform you play killer because survivor movement is not advantaged on any platform over another. A console killer who has trouble aiming will have trouble aiming no matter which platform they go against.
This is correct, unless the console killer is either DS or Huntress.
However, recently, many people say PC players have a huge FPS advantage than console players and to this, I have mixed feelings.
You don't need 120 FPS to do well in DBD, I do fine my XB1 X 60 FPS and it plays almost exactly like 120 FPS. The only time FPS would be a problem is when you're below 30 FPS where you're not receiving enough visual feedback.

I personally think Help Wanted was the best made FNaF game, with Pizzeria Sim at a close second.
The gameplay was super interactive (and pretty scary), the story wasn't overly convoluted, and it was overall a very well designed and content-packed game!
I wanted to respond to your previous comment towards me, but I was very overwhelmed by the amount of backlash for wanting a FNAF DLC and... I was very tired to make a response. π
I haven't been involved with the FNAF community personally, but I have seen sneak peeks of the FNAF Community. Communities are unique, they have their own flaws and benefits (I.E. DBD's Community is known to be toxic and FNAF's Community is known for being cringey). However, to be fair, we can't base a game off its own community because I enjoyed FNAF and DBD was a blast for me β neither was identical to their community reviews. It's great that Mark brought light onto the game rather than the community, showing us that this game was successful for the right reasons. He also shown that FNAF has done a lot to put a twist into survival horror. π

It would definitely be bad, since bloodpoints are a 32 bit signed integer and only go up to 2,147,483,647. After that, they flip and go negative. Everyone would be billions of BP in the hole.
Yay, nerd stuff.

But I didn't lose anything today, I turned on the game and played and exceeded the limit.
Sorry to disappoint, but I have no idea what the problem could be. I haven't touched DBD since late March and there could've been some exceptions to the limit that I'm unaware of.
The only way, from what I can remember months ago, is that Customer Support gives you compensation BP from loss of progress. You can also hack above 1,000,000 (I don't condone nor support hacking), but I believe that's impossible because EAC would detect you're above the limit without authorization and perma ban you.
-

You can bypass the limit if Customer Support give you compensation for loss of progress. π

That's basically it, they're just really annoying and his Frenzy is difficult to counter because it's like 360ing a experienced killer. Might work, might not, but either way, you're mending and staying injured all game.
Not saying they need a nerf, but to show you why survivors find them annoying β it's mending simulator. However, I'm optimistic that the developers are going to change them and it's going to be really exciting to see this happen! π

Moreover, I don't mind the posts, and the same can be said about DS, Keys, NOED, and Mori posts. As long as people aren't posting with the intention of spamming, I'm fine with the posts β it's great to see other opinions, even the ones that don't agree with me. Maybe... Just maybe... Gens would get repaired if YOU repaired them while your team is getting chased/downed/hooked?
I believe OP is saying if your team is getting destroyed early on and there's no hope for making a full comeback (I.E. Doing all gens), don't spawn the hatch in and allow the killer find it. The reasoning behind this is because the killer can sacrifice your last teammate and use the sacrifice animation to reach the hatch before the survivor can 100% of the time.
As the killer, I let survivors spawn the hatch in so that I'm not forced to slug and can instead secure the EGC with said strategy. π

To be honest I didn't see nearly as much dislike for Stranger Things as I am for FNAF. Also from what I recall I didn't see the community spamming the forums every day with multiple Stranger Things as the next chapter.
Another thing, Stranger Things is at least targeted towards a mature audience.
To be fair, Stranger Things has way more gore than FNAF and movies might have more stricter ratings. To add on, if there's cuss words and so on, that's gives the movie a mature rating. However, both have horror as their genre so I can see FNAF being a possibility β it just depends on how well the developers execute the DLC. π
Either way, I personally want FNAF because it would be different. Demogorgon is the only non human killer, and an animatronic was be the second (assuming we're not counting the dead corpse inside).

That's because you're looking at the first FNAF game, in which the characters didn't look scary physically. However, there's a reason why people want Springtrap as a DLC:
- Blood & Gore
- Destroyed Corpse
- Haunted
Overall, he looks very intimidating and lethal β you would be out of your mind to get anywhere near him.

Of course the my little pony thing was a joke. It was more of the point that those two things FNAF and MLP are on the same level of childish to me. You can like it, but both would be an absolute joke in this game.
You keep ignoring my point about how people also thought Stranger Things was childish, yet when the franchise was made a DLC to DBD β it was a huge hit.
You can say something is childish, but you can't prove it also won't be successful because DBD history says otherwise.
By the way, MLP and FNAF aren't comparable at all. One is completely child friendly and the other is survival horror designed to make you jump.

And thats great! Like I said there's nothing wrong with liking it. It's just the source content is horrible for this game. Imagine if they added the main bad person from My Little Pony (im sure theres a main villain) as a killer in DBD just beacuse "It would be so cool!!!!!" To me, thats how every FNAF post comes off.
People said the exact same thing about Stranger Things, yet it was still successful as a DLC in DBD. Like I said, it's easy to put a negative label on something because it's not your taste. However, a lot of people love FNAF because it game them a great experience and a great scare.
Your My Little Pony demonstration is stretching things way too far.

Okay but look how comical that face is on the video still π THAT is supposed to scare people? Itβs just so funny lmfao
You haven't played the game, haven't you? The core aspect of the game is that you're given little information to survive and have to figure things out yourself β which often leads to a jumpscare. These jumpscares are not random actually, as most like to believe, it's because you made mistakes to lead you to that point. However, newer players don't know if they made a mistake and that's why jumpscares seem so cheap but effective.

Im not shaming at all, FNAF was intended for a child audience, thus its a childrens game. If you enjoy it I don't see a problem. A lot of people don't want to bring childish stuff into the game.
That's just your opinion, there's plenty of AMAZING adult content creators who love the game because it really scared them.
https://youtu.be/iOztnsBPrAAMoverover, just look at this video and look at his reaction, no kids game can do this to a person. However, I guess your mind fixated and the best we can do is agree to disagree. π

It's really saddening to see these types of comments where people call FNAF a kids game when plenty of adult content creators made let's plays of the FNAF series and enjoyed it very well.
I remember people said the exact same thing with Stranger Things, calling it a kids movie and look what happened when it got released β it was a huge hit for DBD.
It's very easy to judge a book by its cover, put a negative label to it, and call it a day but if you actually give the game a chance, you'll see it's more than just a kids game and would do very well as a DLC for DBD β if done right.
Moreover, as a public PSA: it's very unnecessary to shame someone because they like FNAF, this also needs to stop. β

How is it more confusing to have numbers than vague and meaningless words?
Just told you, newer (not veterans like you) players might not understand the numbers and phrases just helps them simply what's happening. I'm not against your idea, but I'd like there to be an opinion between numbers and phrases. π
-
@coppersly said:
The problem with nerfing Moris is if you try to make them weaker it often ends up making them worthless.
Why would you bring in a mori just to kill people on deathhooks? Play PH and save yourself the offering.
The closest suggestion I've seen that still keeps the power intact is requiring you to hook someone else before you can Mori the previous hooked person.
That's my idea, it'll just remove the mori-hook cheese and give survivors more breathing room. Moreover, the killer must hook all survivors to get the most from their mori, but can use it early for less value. π
-
@DwightOP said:
BHVR said themselves they want to adress them and give actual numbers. But they are still using these terms noone can work with on the recent Bubba addons rework.
I want numbers. And not vague descriptions which aren't fixed but are changing on every addon and every killer. That's nothing I can work with properly.
I believe the main reason is because they might confuse newer players. However, I'd like an option to switch between phrases and actual numbers so that veterans aren't limited. π

Yeah, you see it from time to time in games. Someone will kill themselves on first hook, dc when they get downed. Than the others go down in five seconds and the last remaining survivor, has to get all the saves, to let the game last longer than 5 minutes.
Thanks for understanding, typically I get the "Why should they be rewarded for fail" clichè response.
Yeah, I believe the last survivor should have a 25% chance to escape on average. π
-
@johnmwarner said:
So before I start, let me say I know this isn't all survivors and I do give hatch fairly frequently. If someone DCs early or kills themselves on first hook I'll usually give last survivor hatch because I play survivor myself and I know how frustrating that can be. Also if it was just a really good game, no BM from either side and just generally "competitive," I'll let someone go if I am fortunate enough to win. Of course if someone teabags nonstop or clicky clicks then that goes out the window sorry.
But anyways just had a game where 2 were dead and I hooked the third but she was on second stage not death, the fourth instantly runs out in front of me and waits so I killed her. Post game she says,"I gave myself up and you killed me, D-move bro." Okay, so a couple points.
First, you gave up when your teammate still had life so NO you do not get hatch.
Second, you were a Blendette so NO you do not get hatch. This was further substantiated by the fact that the point totals for survivors were 12k, 10k, 9k and 7k guess who had 7000? Right, this blendette does the least all game, gives up before it's really over, and feels she deserves hatch? LAUGHABLE
Sometimes the last survivor was the only one who made team effort while the others either DC'd, gave up, or made very poor plays. They feel like they deserve at least a better, not guaranteed nor high, chance of survival than two Exit Gates being on the same wall. π

@joshuashep22 said:
I think soul guard is definitely a new meta perk and requires no nerfs currently, so what is your opinion on soul guard?
50% of the perk relies on the killer having a Hex Perk cursing you, which in a way, won't be something you can expect to last long since survivors will cleanse it quickly. Best case scenario, you'll get this benefit when the killer is NOED slugging for momentum or Devour Hope.
The other 50% of the perk requires you to recover from the dying state, this is not a hard condition to fulfill since slugging is a strategy most killers use. However, the part that makes this situational is that you need someone to rescue you and sometimes that's not possible. People can cut out this part by using Unbreakable, but at that point, you're sacrificing two perks for when the killer does slug you.
Overall, this perk is pretty balanced, Endurance shouldn't be a status effect survivor get often. π
-
@Johnny_XMan said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1342893#Comment_1342893
I do. It can add more pressure because you now can have two hooks for the price of one.
Arguably there is going to be scenarios like the ones you present that would make you question why, but since they would know how DS works, they know they can't get stunned by it.
Slugging is a luxury in this game, that's why it is a meta.
Slugging is the most riskiest thing you can do in a game because a survivor can easily reset the entire team. As the killer, it's important to know when it's just right to slug since that's what going to win you games.
What you're saying is to slug the savior and save them for when you need to remove the hooked survivor's Decisive Strike timer. This can, in best case scenario, reward you 2 hooks, but in worse case scenario, give you 0 hooks.
Now, what I'm trying to say is that hooking the savior ASAP will immediately take away the hooked survivor's Decisive Strike. Then, with good tracking skills, you should be able to find the hooked survivor and chase them without fear of Decisive Strike. You're guaranteed 2 hooks every time, you avoid the risks slugging altogether. π

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1342639#Comment_1342639
That isnβt a fair way to look at it IMO.
Your suggestion is going to make Campers really love that perk. You down the person saving and tunnel the hooked survivor. You can hook the first downed and deny DS.
Not everyone is hovering around a hook to heal a downed person.
Don't see the point in going after the hooked survivor when the savior is ready to be hooked β remember, he can't have DS because the hooked survivor removed it.
If you decide you want to go after the hooked survivor, you risk borrowed time and the original slug could crawl away. That's a lot of time wasted and you could potentially get nothing from it. π

I have "new" in quotations because that is relative to the player. But I would consider anything released in the last year or so as new. I'm interested in this topic because it feels like to me that the devs release some pretty half baked perks the last couple of years. And it's sad because a lot of the time there is real potential there but they put in too many unnecessary restrictions or conditions. In any case, for me the most recent perk that I actually use regularly is Inner Strength. It's just a solid well balanced perk.
Off The Record because it allows me to use Object of Obsession without the penalty of giving yourself away. Works especially well when the killer is searching for you as well and best of all, you can heal without worrying about BBQ and Nurse's Calling. π

What about when a survivor gets tunneled, slugged THEN the killer decides to go for someone else and hooks them while the DS survivor is in the dying state.
Would that be fair?
Yes, that's fair because your team had ample time to pick you up. The killer had to win a chase, transport them, then come back to search for you β that's more than enough time and if not, you can place the blame on your teammates, not the perk. π
-
@Orion said:
Yes, that's why they buffed it. When Enduring was going to be nerfed, I told the devs to also nerf DS at the same time, for the sake of fairness. They may say they don't favor either side, but stuff like this makes me doubt it very much.
If it was up to me for balancing Decisive Strike, I'd add more conditions to be more fair to killers and make it more powerful.
- Activation timer expires when a survivor is hooked
- Activation timer is [Pick one] paused or slowed when in the dying state
That would solve the situation where killers get hit by the perk when they weren't tunneling, but to compensate, killers who tunnel can't use loopholes to tunnel without consequences. π

Later, they told me action was taken even though I never used the ingame reporting system. They do have a log system where they can check the most recent games and it looks like they will compare the video with the game to find a match.
Feels good that the support team can be so effective! π

Personally, I see hooked survivors as noisy blood pinatas. If I have maxed out STBFL or am playing a killer that can multi-hit I'll occasionally smack a hooked survivor for the sheer fun of it.
But some people really don't like that, even though it gives their team mates extra time, and they somehow think that me hitting them means I'm angry or something.
I think it's just weapons-grade projection at work. But I could be wrong.
In gaming, there's always the sore winner and the sore loser. We see the sore loser often in DBD, they insult the winner and / or complains about their defeat (this often leads to the blaming game). The sore winner often brags about their superiority and / or shames the loser. However, this can all happen within a game and every game has their own form of getting their points across. In Overwatch, people can message the other team or a targeted user. Dead by Daylight has it's own method, as well as other games that don't have direct in-game communication. Gaming has accepted tbagging or any other action that requires the player to purposely waste unnecessary time, as a form of communication.
When you hook someone (you beat them) then hook smack them, to the survivor, you're being a sore winner. You're purposely wasting unnecessary amounts of time to hook smack a survivor after beating them, which makes that survivor believe you're boasting over your superiority.
Of course, language is very complex and I just gave you the bare minimum to understand. However, whenever you do something, it's always best to picture what the receiving end is seeing before you do it. π π

I actually like this, although something about it taking 20 seconds to open the hatch is a little iffy. Don't get me wrong i'm sure that's to bring the whole "you've earned it" aspect to it, but maybe a little decrease in seconds would be good? Just feels like by the time it's open the killer will be there to close it. However, i'd totally support an add-on that could do this instead, like "decreases the black lock opening time by 10 seconds" or something. Also an add-on to allow (at least) 1 more person to enter the hatch with you would be cool too, just so that SWF hatch escapes can still be fun.
I was pretty shook when I saw the broken key added into this, and i'm all for it. That item is so useless I don't even know what you're suppose to do with it.
The main reason why I picked 20 seconds to open the hatch is because an Exit Gate takes 20 seconds to open and the hatch can be opened early.
Furthermore, if the killer is busy with a survivor, they have to drop whatever they are doing to prevent a survivor from escaping. 20 seconds should be enough time for them to reach the hatch, unless they are greedy. π

For both roles people seem to really dislike The Game and Lery's Memorial Institute, I have to say I really enjoy playing in both maps.
I find all Indoor maps pleasing because not only they are visually appealing to me but they seem to be the most balanced to me. π

Otzdarva easy. He's good at the game so he's good to watch if you want to improve but he also memes around a lot. And he's overall a pretty nice guy from what I can tell. But there's this other youtuber, Not Otzdarva, who's kinda copying his style.
Otz is one of my favorites, but Monto is another one of my favorites! πβ€

Many people can agree that auto-aim is more of a hindrance than a helper, with it constantly causing you to hit walls or the game having you swipe instead of lunge because the mechanic is broken. If you happen to be playing The Legion and have this happen when in Feral Frenzy, you will be losing a lot of time. You will be forced to eat the stun and you might lose some injures.
I highly doubt anyone would oppose having an option to turn off auto-aim.
Auto-aim is actually called Aim Dressing. It makes a hit that you shouldn't get look more convincing and vice versa. π
I believe the developers are planning to keep auto-aim, but change a few things that makes it so frustrating. Peanits mentioned in a different thread that they are planning to iron out some kinks in auto-aim, but that's really it, we're stuck with it. π

I can argue the opposite. It's not the killers fault, it's the survivors who unhooked. If the killer is close enough to even catch you straight off the hook, than the blame should be placed on the survivor who did the rescuing, especially without BT. They basically farmed you for points. Can you really blame the killer if you're pulled off hook in their face, and the rescuer doesn't at least take a protection hit, instead sprinting to the nearest pallet?
Now, I'm not saying hardcore tunneling doesn't exist, and is a pretty unfair playstyle around it. I understand in a lot of cases killers will tunnel, simply for the sake of doing it. But on the other hand, I feel at least part of the blame comes down to survivors not knowing when or how to safely rescue somebody.
I don't feel like the unhooked survivor should pay the price of someone's mistake, especially when they had no way to prevent it from happening.
That's really the problem, the savior doesn't get the consequences and the unhooked survivor is left to face the savior's consequences. The killer is put in a tough spot because they know it's smart to go after the unhooked survivor yet it wouldn't do justice for the unhooked survivor. π π
