As someone who predominantly plays survivor, I've almost historically never had a problem with Freddy. He's actually a lot more fun to go against than traditional killers imo since his counterplay isn't just "ha ha loop go weeee!". You have to remember what pallets are real, and which one's are not. Can this occasionally blow up in the survivor's face? Of course, but isn't that kind of what the pallets are supposed to do?
I never found his snares or teleport to be too powerful either. As long as you stay aware of these things, you should almost never have an issue with him; I don't see the problem.
As many people here already said, these stats should not be used to draw conclusions. If we're nerfing Freddy because of his high kill rate, then lets buff Nurse while we're at it. This stats can be skewed by a number of things, especially Freddy, since he technically has 2 abilities to pick from. For all we know, his kill rate with dream pallets could be 90%, and the snares at 30%.
Whenever a killer comes out that doesn't have traditional counterplay, it gets people angry.
BHVR, if you're reading this, PLEASE don't nerf Freddy.

Origins on Bo2. Der Eisendrache and Revelations on Bo3.
I may be unpopular in this opinion, but I think its a sin how the Margwa and the Panzer appeared in Revelations, but not Brutus or Nova Crawlers.
-
I think Brutus from Call of Duty Zombies (with Richtofen as a survivor, and MOTD as the map) would be super cool.
-
One time, I was SWFing with a group of mine, who are ironically toxic, but funny people.
We went up against this one particular killer, not thinking much about it, and we ended up beating him pretty badly from what I remember. This triggered the typical "GG EZ" from my friends, but this killer was pretty stubborn himself, leading to a pretty heated argument in the end game chat.
Out of no where, one of my friends immediately challenges him to a match in Smash Bros, and by some odd stroke of luck, he accepted. We added him on steam, and even got into a discord call with him. He bought a subscription to Nintendo Switch Online, and battled against my friend (and kinda got smushed).
It was all fun and games at the end of the day, and we said our goodbyes.
Ever since then, we've only ran into him one more time, but nevertheless, the memory will still live with us.
Mr. Meeseeks, if you're out there, you're a real homie.
-
Like someone in this thread already said, I really hope they focus more on videogame killers for future licenses.
- Five Nights at Freddy's is one that's been hotly debated recently, but if Security Breach turns out well, and the movie does too, I honestly don't see why it shouldn't be in the game. Whether or not you like the idea, you'd have to admit, it'd make BHVR mad cash. FNaF is a series that literally started from NOTHING. A poor, indie game developer threw it out, thinking it was going to be his last attempt at making games. Now, its newest installments are unveiled alongside Spiderman, God of War, and other colossal AAA games. From a popularity standpoint, it definitely deserves to be in the game. From an accomplishment standpoint, it doesn't fall short there either. From a horror perspective is where people get iffy. The most popular request from the FNaF series is Springtrap, who fits in pretty well. I'd love to see FNaF join the ranks among these horror legends. In my opinion, after Silent Hill, FNaF would be next in line for me. I would go on longer, but I already made an entire thread dedicated to this.
- Another one that I'd want is a Left for Dead killer, particularly The Witch. We already have a survivor, so it's not like we really need a second one if another L4D DLC were to be done (although a survivor from the second survivor group would be cool). The Witch would probably make sense as the L4D killer pick (I would say Tank, but he's too big. The only other notable boss zombie is The Witch). Left for Dead got its first major update after 10 years, which has revived interest in the IP, and I think it would be a good investment for BHVR to go back and scoop up a killer.
- Lastly, I believe Friday the 13th is due for its representation. I know that this one probably wont come for a while (if at all), but Jason would be a neat addition, what else needs to be said?
Also, after reading your post, I wonder how they could make The Babadook work. By all means, if they can make it work then add 'em too.

A sexy killer? I thought Myers was already in the game.
-
I think he's definitely an underrated pick.
I'm not petitioning for his inclusion or anything, but I wouldn't be upset by any means. In my opinion, like Springtrap, he should come to the game at some point, whether it be now, or a few years down the line when some of the more major horror icons are already in (and there's not a whole lot of those left).
Slenderman falls into a weird niche of horror (internet/pop culture), which isn't something that DbD traditionally goes for, but it definitely has its fair share of cool characters. Once people get over the "Popular = Bad/Children" mentality then I think he'll be a lot more widely accepted. People forget that he became popular for a reason.

Not necessarily.
Most FNAF players are like 12-14 or something. This means that not many new players are coming to this game, and all you end up with is lot of unhappy dbd fans.
I don't know if a lot of people in that 12-14 age range play dbd or not though, so don't take my opinion seriously.
I've seen people as young as 10 enjoy DbD, and probably just as young with FNaF too. The majority of the people I see play these games are under the age of 18. There's young people in every fanbase, and this one is no exception.
Typically, from what I've seen, the average age of a FNaF fan varies a lot. Of course you have the young fans, who if I were to guess, range from 11-13, but then you have the fans that have stuck with the series throughout the years, and these people tend to be older (maybe around 16-22?). DbD's fanbase is sorta hard to tell, but (from what I've seen) the average age for a DbD fan seems to be ~20 (with many outliers on both sides). Again, these are just from what I see on places such as Reddit and the DbD forums.
Although (and this isn't directed toward you), the real question I have is why does it really matter? Let people play whatever they want without being told "no" simply because they're younger/older than the typical player (and this doesn't apply specifically to DbD or FNaF). I love playing games like Splatoon and Smash Bros, but I'm not going to let the kids of those games ruin my enjoyment of them. If they're not directly hindering my enjoyment of the game, then why should I, or anyone, care?
-
What I would want:
Resident Evil and FNaF just had huge showings at the PS5 showcase, and I would love to see both of these come to the game some day. L4D2 is getting another major update after remaining dormant for 10 years, so an extension to the L4D chapter would be pretty cool to see alongside this. There's obviously more that I'd like to see in the game some day, but these are just my general picks, not particularly strong about any of them except for FNaF.
What I wouldn't want:
There's really no a whole lot that I'd actively oppose being in the game. The only thing I can really think of is creepypasta stuff (and then again, I wouldn't be mad if Slender was added. He's not my #1 by any means, but still cool).

Which ones do I expect? Idk, BHVR has kind of been unpredictable when it comes to licenses, especially nowadays since most of the major horror icons are either already in the game or inaccessible for various reasons.
If we're going down the movie path, I think we'd probably see one of the major requested ones (such as Jason, Candyman, or Pinhead). I think we'll be considered lucky to get even one of them, since they're all pretty big names. I don't really care too much for horror movies personally, so the addition of any of them (except Jason) would probably get a resounding "meh" from me, but I'd be happy for everyone that wanted them.
When it comes to videogame characters, I feel the exact opposite. In my opinion, there's a lot more potential in that market since most of the movie legends have made it in by now, and video games are an almost untapped market.
Resident Evil is a name I hear somewhat often, and for good reason. It's a pretty iconic horror game, and has plenty of potential for a neat DbD chapter.
FNaF is another one that has been somewhat controversial. On one hand, you have tons of people that want it, and on the other, you have a good bunch that actively DON'T want it. I would predict that if a FNaF chapter were actually added into DbD, I predict people would probably not hate it as much as they initially claimed, so I'd personally want to see this one if a videogame chapter were to be added.
Another request that I see on Twitter a lot is Clementine from Telltale's TWD, which I'd personally LOVE, but I imagine that license CANNOT be cheap; As much as people would like it, its probably just not happening.
I don't know if Slenderman would fall into here, since he's more of internet culture rather than games, but I think he gets the award for the most underrated licensed character pick. He's not a "must have or die" kind of character for me, but he was pretty popular in the early 2010s, and boosted the horror game genre significantly.
Lastly, I'd want to talk about something that's already part of the game: Left for Dead. I think this chapter is in need of a killer, perhaps The Witch? Or maybe The Hunter? Idk, just food for thought. I don't see this one happening but hey, here's to hoping.
Okay that is all, sorry for the essay.
-
Is he getting nerfed? Man, I thought he was fine before. Oh well...
-
I can already count the number of hag players I see on 0 hands, and I dont want that number to go any lower. She's not powerful enough to warrant a nerf, whether that be direct or indirect. She has her limitations and counterplay, and is in a good spot powerwise as is. Her addons could use some tweaks (not nerfs, just rank adjustments), but nothing major needs to be done.
-
I know this is sort of off topic, but I honestly hate the "basic attack" requirement almost anywhere its put. It creates an unnecessary power disparity, since some killers use basic attacks way more than others, and overall, having more restrictions just simply isn't fun.
I'd suggest allowing all 3 you mentioned (Spirit, Nurse, and Blight) to have their abilities count as basic attacks.
-
That's... actually a good point, I never saw it that way. Hmmm... its worth investigating to be sure, because on paper, nothing sounds wrong with what you proposed, but we'll have to see how it plays out in practice.

Have you ever overheated in an actual match? I've played him a handful of times since the changes went live and I've never been close to overheating the chainsaw, even when I feel like I'm using it heavily. It feels like this would just stop you from face camping while revving your chainsaw and that's about it.
I havent played him too much since the rework. I was originally going to start playing him again, but with the most recent overheat cooldown change, I'll have to think about it a little more.
Before the most recent change, I didn't overheat, but regardless, I don't support what behavior did in terms of this nerf, since regardless of its severity, many players were against a base kit billy nerf, and they still chose to go through with it. It really left a bad taste in my mouth.

I think the yellow mori should be base-kit for people who want to do it for the aesthetic. The point of these threads is discussing what could be done to the Moris to make them less impactful in the match, but still have them so they are useful to the killer.
Aesthetically Monstrous Shrine is a glorious perk because I support my arachnid-esque eldritch horror, but mechanically its not useful. Form and Function, Aesthetic and Utility.
I'm not against making yellow mori basekit. As for monstrous shrine, yeah it needs a rework.

Some Moris take forever, like Hag's. Using the mori would give the rest of the team more time to do things than just hooking the survivor. It would be actually disadvantageous. This is pretty much why Dying Light isn't a meta perk, because its downside is worse than its benefit.
I pose to you that this game is inherently competitive by its nature, since it is pitting one group against an individual. Where the objectives of either side are in direct opposition to each other.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1603523#Comment_1603523
This idea is flawed, since that would mean a survivor could counter a mori by just hiding in bushes and lockers all game. So if that survivor never gets hooked, the mori can never be used. Crows can be avoided if you just move around from hiding spot to hiding spot. I'm not sure we want to encourage that.
It still doesn't change my perspective of moris. Yes, sometimes using a mori can cost you a few extra seconds. What I don't see is why that's necessarily an issue. Why does a mori HAVE to be "competitively viable"? Can't they just look cool? As I said, it seems like (especially recently) they're for aesthetic purposes above anything else. When people suggest overly complicated reworks for moris, I'd almost rather keep them as they are, or better yet just make them applicable on death hook. I agree with the Dying Light thing though.
If pitting two sides against each other is what makes a game competitive, then by that logic, games like Mario Party, and Mario Kart's Battle Mode become competitive, even though everything else about them goes against competitive gameplay (such as, in Mario Party's case, the game being almost completely RNG, and in case of Mario Kart's Battle Mode, spawn location and item RNG). To some extent, these games can be played competitively, but they fall under the "party game" category more than anything else.
Many of these same attributes can be applied to DbD, particularly with map RNG, which can almost entirely determine the outcome of a game from the beginning. You can have a game on Coal Tower with 8 pallets, or 16 pallets. Totems spots are still an issue, some maps putting them in wide open areas, and others putting them in spots only detectives would find. Gen and window placements also have their issues as well.
This game doesn't suffer nearly to the extent that Mario Kart or Mario Party does, but nevertheless, it doesn't seem like this game was build with a 100% competitive design in mind. I dont see why they should force a competitive design onto moris with complicated reworks that don't really make a whole lot of sense.

Jokes aside, I miss the BT vision effect as well. The main thing I want back, however, is prework billy. Not for his addons, but just to get rid of the stupid overheat mechanic.

like i said the slowdown does make it easier, i just showed you the possible math so im not sure what more convincing you need that its a strong change and honestly 9% as an ebony would be too OP as the example i gave would be an extra 30seconds on each gen when stacked with other slowdowns (8seconds on its own).
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1601868#Comment_1601868
be pointless, people wont buy an ebony mori for 7k if it doesnt benefit them hence why i added the passive slowdown idea and made it third hook
I honestly can't see the argument about the second part. Why does absolutely everything in this game have to fit into some sort of competitive meta? I can see the argument for perks, maps, powers, etc, but can't moris be just for aesthetic purposes? It seems like that's their intent anyway, as with the addition of every new killer comes a flashier mori to go alongside them.
They could also push moris back to death hook, and then make moris give you more points than sacrifices do. That way, the killer can still get rewarded without it being blatantly unfair for survivors. That's just my two cents on the matter; feel free to disagree.
-
I think Billy's takes the cake for me. For as much as I disagree with the gutting he got, atleast we got some sick menu music to make up for it.

I don't really mind the number of threads; its the fact that none of the threads add anything to the ongoing conversation.
If this person made a well-developed and fleshed out concept or something, then I personally wouldn't mind there being another thread, but as you can see, that's not what's being done here.

Making them apply on hook death would make mories actively detrimental to run as most mori animations are longer then just hooking a survivor and the point gain difference is negligible.
To give you an idea there is a mori that is only usable on death hook in the game and its the Cypress mori aka the useless one.
Feel free to disagree, but I personally think that Moris should be purely aesthetic offerings, with little to no impact on the gameplay. In their current state, they're obviously pretty frustrating, since you can just remove an entire hook state and kill survivors absurdly fast, and in my opinion, pushing the requirement to death hook wouldn't be that big of an issue.
Sure, you would lose a few seconds from killing a survivor with a mori rather than hooking them, but offerings aren't really supposed to help the players in any significant way. Moris are viewed primarily as an aesthetic thing, and for that reason, I dont see why they need to make the killer stronger.
-
I didn't actually watch the video, nor do I follow these mori threads, but can someone tell me why everyone wants them deleted? Couldn't they just make them only applicable on death hook?
-
As a hillbilly main... wait, not anymore.
I used to play Billy as my main (used him in roughly 85% of my games), then the first nerf came down onto the live build, and after many said the overheat wasn't that noticeable, I was considering playing him again, but then they nerfed him a second time, so I said screw it, and now I main trapper.

Yessssssss clementine. Alright back on topic. I agree with this let others share the spotlight because springtraps moment in the light didnt end well. I had seen people threating streamers and devs for disagreeing with adding spring trap or even saying that another one would be better. Jts not that we hate it its because of the people and what they did has just made everyone so over the idea of even having a thread about it.
I wouldn't mind if FNaF was brought up again sometime down the line, but for now, me, along with many others who love/hate/are in different to the idea just want to move on.
Don't get me wrong, I love the idea, and I hope that he comes in the game sometime in the future, but I won't go out of my way to try and force that belief onto others. I've given up on trying to convince people here regarding just about anything. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and that's perfectly fine.
A lot of people that want FNaF are generally nice people, but of course, there is the vocal minority that could potentially ruin any chance of FNaF coming into DbD, and FNaF isn't the only one that suffers from this issue.
Actually, Clementine shares this as well. Many people on Twitter create gimmick accounts dedicated to getting certain characters into the game. Unfortunately, the Clementine gimmick accounts are awfully persistent, commenting on almost every post that BHVR makes, petitioning that Clementine should be in the game.
I love when people speculate on what characters should/could be in the game. I would main Clem until the day I die if she got into the game (Heck, Bill is what first got me into DbD, since I was a huge L4D fan). I would probably main Springtrap too, assuming his power was good and/or fun. However, there's a fine line on how far these ideas should go, and it can get out of hand quickly.
Overall, I'm glad that people are starting to want Springtrap in the game, since I've always been a fan of the idea, even before it blew up, but with that being said, lets let the idea rest for a bit.
I wouldn't mind reviving the topic once the new AAA FNaF game comes out, or maybe when the movie releases, or maybe when another videogame character is introduced into DbD. My point is, the idea is exhausted right now, so lets wait for something to happen before we bring up the idea again.
Also, sorry for the long post :P

I always think it's funny how people want Springtrap instead of like, any of the other options.
The series is named after Freddy, Bonnie was the first animatronic Scott designed, and Foxy is generally the most popular and prolific (well, tied with Freddy anyway). Oh, and the Puppet. Can't forget the Puppet.
And honestly, the Chicken from the first game was always the one that disturbed me the most.
People want Springtrap because he's the only genuine "killer" within the series. William Afton (Springtrap) killed innocent children and stuffed their corpses inside the animatronics. The children's souls possessed the animatronics, which is why they roamed around at night.
Once the children's souls were freed from the suits, they wanted revenge on William. The spirits ended up cornering him in a back room, and he used an animatronic suit to protect himself. The robotic parts in the suit snapped, and ended up killing him within the suit, allowing his soul to possess it. After thirty years of rotting in that backroom later, and you have yourself Springtrap:

Its not that everyone here is necessarily a "hater" of the idea. I actually think it'd be pretty cool, but I'd be absolutely flabbergasted if the devs haven't gotten the message yet.
I always appreciate constructive threads about the idea (whether that be something that can drastically change people's perspective on the idea, or perhaps a fleshed out concept, etc), but there's already been a ton of "Put Springtrap in DbD" threads around here, so I suggest letting other potential characters share the spotlight for a bit.

Oh my god
Clementine from Telltale's The Walking Dead, and its not even close for me.
Sure, there are tons of characters that have a good fit in DbD, but for me atleast, Telltale's TWD hit me in a way no other game has. The TTWD series has some of the BEST story based games I've ever played, and some of the best games I've played in general. Clementine fits an archetype that really isn't shared by anyone else in the game (she's a mix of Claudette's caring nature with David's resilience). She'd be a really unique addition, and I'd totally main Survivor if she somehow made it into the game.

Sorry for the odd formatting; I’m on mobile.
For the longest time, I was a billy player, who’d always do decently well with brown addons. I loved playing him, since the chainsaw felt like a simple tool, given to the player, and it was up to the player to determine how to best utilize it.
After the overheat mechanics made it into the live build, I figured, “He’s still totally fine and playable; almost no harm done”. Today, the new patch was announced that nerfed him again.
I just prestiged Hillbilly after refusing to for months, and I intend to never play him again. The amount of billy players has dropped significantly from what I’ve seen, and now it’ll probably drop even further. BHVR is trying to beat down billy, while the real issues in this game run rampant.
I always try and give BHVR the benefit of the doubt when most of the community is against them, but this is just such an odd, absurd, and unnecessary change that it makes me sick. Especially since most of the community liked Billy how he was.
I don’t think BHVR realizes how lucky they are to have a community that constructively provides feedback on the game’s state; any other game and the fans would have left years ago.

It hurts to hear that escpeccially from a dev, I know not everyone in Bhvr thinks this but geez, I hate the sterotype that fnaf is for kids in reality its not its jsut the fanbase built around it that painted it this way
FNaF had a pretty young audience around 2015, but now, most of the children have fled to the next most popular game, while the older, long-time, and more dedicated fans stayed with FNaF, and now it has one of the most popular gaming sub-reddits out there. The community has tons of nice people in it now, and while it still has its few bad apples, what game doesn't?
I'm fairly certain the the wants of the devs rarely impact what gets into the game, considering (from what I've heard) many veteran dbd devs were against the hillbilly changes as well. Almost the entire community was against them there, and look where we are now.

- the lore and it would be wierd the lore since (spoilers alert) Springtrap its the purple guy i dont know.
- power now its a huge thing killers power myers have its unique power from the films and freddy also unique but SpringTrap dude...hes power its unknown.
- it would be the first robot killer and i prefer terminator than him xd.
- While it is true that FNaF and DbD have very different styles of gameplay, it's been proved that differences in gameplay don't matter when considering licenses for DbD. Bill is from a Zombie shooter game. Additionally, more recent installments in the FNaF universe have more elements of free roam, and focus more on a scary environment rather than just jumpscare horror. Springtrap is actually pretty notable considering he is one of the first animatronics to actually been seen moving in-game. Now, that's a characteristic shared by a lot of characters, but it definitely set him apart from the others at the time.
- I mean, Springtrap is canonically dead. I don't really know how that would interfere with the lore of FNaF or DbD exactly, considering many characters followed a similar route into The Entity's realm. However, I agree that it isn't crystal clear. There was a new character introduced into FNaF: VR, a yellow creepy rabbit called Glitchtrap by the community. People are fairly confident that this is William Afton, or some digital manifestation of him, but this is yet to be confirmed. Even if it is true that William Afton is still alive somehow, that still shouldn't really prevent him from coming into DbD, considering Myers isn't technically dead either.
- The devs could easily make a power for him. It could take elements from either the gameplay or the lore. If they were able to make unique powers for both Ghostface and Myers, who have a lot in common, I doubt that Springtrap would be any harder, considering how much material they can pull from.
- Yea thats totally fair.
That's just my perspective, feel free to disagree if you want to.

maybe then again none of us are devs we don't know much lol
True. I remember McLean saying "######### is Springtrap" when asked about him (sorta sad, but whatevs), so that essentially confirms its not chapter 17, but I'm not sure if McLean knows what chapter 18 is already.
