  • I wouldn't want it personally, but I wouldn't outright quit if it were added or anything.

Bro we can't have a serial child murderer in the game, his game is from a franchise for kids! Never mind the fact that SEVERAL children have died offscreen and you literally get GUTTED AT THE END OF THE 5TH GAME, Markiplier played it so it's a kids game!

    /s

Have you seen Markiplier play it in 2020? It's so odd how differently he views the game now compared to how he once did.

It gave birth to indie horror? Is that a joke...? You cannot be serious. Amnesia alone was bigger than FNAF when it debuted. Even Slender.

Maybe not the birth of indie horror, but it was definitely a massive resurgence for the genre that's still going on today. I remember amnesia being especially popular tho; I'm not saying it didn't have an effect on the genre by any means. I just remember tons of new indie horror games exploding post-FNaF such as Hello Neighbor, Baldi's Basics, and Bendy and the Ink Machine. That's not even talking about the dozens of well-made FNaF fan games.

Also (and this is my opinion), FNaF was developed by a single individual, and thus, FNaF's accomplishments are more valuable in my eyes (and again, my opinion here).

Slender seemed to have more of an effect on internet culture than video games. I remember Creepypasta was wildly popular around that time, and even though it's more or less died down today, it was still amazing what Slender accomplished. Would I personally want to see Slender in DbD? Not really. Would I be mad if he some how made it in? Definitely not. Same with Amnesia.

  • Imho, they're not terrible. Sure, I prefer outdoor maps, but The Game isn't actually that bad, Lerry's could be worse, Lab is clunky but not unplayable, and Midwich... kinda sucks tbh,

  • @TerrorUnleashed said:

I said it then and I'll say it again... these forums are becoming increasingly less popular. 5 minutes for a single reply? Back in the golden days, insignificant fools such as I would wait just a merely 20 seconds for an occasional 2-5 replies. Not a "big deal" overall, but I would appreciate some elevated engagement on this platform (if others can agree).

Edit: Yeah, we definitely can't change its popularity, but we can at least alter our own perceptions haha

I have no clue what the actual numbers show in terms of the forum's popularity, but I'll say this: The forums are definitely not appealing in anyway to newcomers.

90% of the threads on the front page are complaining about some aspect of the game, simply to feed the constant "Us vs. Them" mentality, which at this rate, would likely kill the game down the line. That's why I always suggest there be some form of "Balance suggestions/feedback" sub-forum, or a sub-forum for debating. The forums are a warzone, and at times, I feel like the devs shouldn't listen to us.

This is the reason you may see me predominantly comment of FNaF-related threads above all else; I simply couldn't care less about SWFs destroying red ranks, or DS, or Unbreakable, or NOED, or Spirit, or Freddy (NOTE: I'm not saying these issues don't exist). I just try to have fun with the game above all else. Does DbD have its share of issues? Of course, but consistently holding a flame war over every small issue is the exact reason why almost none of these issues get fixed, or fixed properly.

That sort of went slightly off topic, but I hope you can see where I'm coming from. I know for a fact that this community has some absolutely brilliant people in it, but it seems as if the bad apples are ruining the bunch.

Let's try to create a more welcoming atmosphere from now on.

McLean, a gameplay programmer on Dead by Daylight, streams regularly on Twitch, 2 weeks ago someone asked him what he thinks of the recent hype of Springtrap. He replied 'I don't know what the ######### Springtrap is [break] because I'm not ten.'. Either he was joking, which I don't believe or he was mocking us for wanting him in the game. Honestly... I'm afraid that's what most of the people working on DbD think.

    https://www.twitch.tv/lmclean_bhvr/clip/CleverRockyTapirAMPEnergyCherry here's a clip of it.

Yeah I've seen this clip. It's disappointing to see a dev with that kind of perspective on the game. I still don't know if he was joking or not. Even if he wasn't, of course there are going to be some devs who do/don't like the idea. Another dev said a while back on a dev stream that she loves the idea, and Mathieu (from what I've seen) seems to be mostly indifferent on the idea.

A lot of the veteran developers on DbD (from what I've heard) were also against the recent Hillbilly changes, and so were a lot of players, but the changes went through anyway. I don't exactly know how the wants of the developers affects what gets into the game, but if this example has shown us something, its that not everyone has to be on board with a change for it to happen. FNaF isn't nearly as severe in this regard anyway, since there are far more people who want a FNaF chapter than people who liked the Billy changes; it's much less of a mixed bag if that makes sense. Hopefully we'll see William Afton in the game one day.

  • @Springey said:

I'm not really into TLOU, but would be happy if it would be added.

A Until Dawn chapter would also be pretty neat, Sam as the survivor and Hannah as the Wendigo as the killer.

Clementine from the twd telltale games as a paragraph would be fantastic, Lee would be a good option too but I believe Clementine is more popular?

About FNaF, I think the best they could do is either 2 killers, 1 map and 1 survivor (Vanny, Springtrap, the mall and the recently teased guard), 1 killer, 1 map and 1 survivor (the same as before but without Springtrap) or 1 killer, 1 map and 1 survivor (Springtrap, Charlies Childhood home/Fazbear's fright and John or any of Charlies friends (Charlie couldn't be a survivor since she's later to be revealed a robot, meaning she would be useless to the entity.))

All of these suggestions are absolute bangers.

For anyone who hasn't played Telltale's TWD, PLAY IT! PLAY IT NOW! IT IS SOOO GOOD! I would happily sell my house for a Clementine DLC. However, I imagine that license won't be cheap to come by, and I ultimately think that's the one thing holding it back from DbD. That being said, I REALLY hope BHVR considers it one day. After the Final Season ended, I was completely dysfunctional for an entire week; it's honestly a phenomenal series, and I really hope BHVR decides to do a paragraph on it.

As for Until Dawn, I haven't played it, but a Wendigo killer would be SUPER cool. I always wanted atleast one killer based on folklore, and a Wendigos would fill that spot just fine.

As for FNaF, man... I wouldn't be the same person I am today without those games. I remember when I found the games, all the way back in fifth grade. I remember playing FNaF 1 on the way to school with all of my friends surrounding me. We were so young at the time, and those games used to scare us to death.

Now after all of these years, FNaF is finally starting to creep out of its indie phase, and become the horror masterpiece it was always meant to be. FNaF VR was a masterpiece, a fresh reboot on the series that brought it further away from jumpscare horror, added new depth to its story, and made the game feel FAR more scary in its environment. FNaF: Security Breach will be the first AAA FNaF game, so I hope that reflects in its quality. Then, at last, the movie. They spent a LONG time developing the script for it, and it seems like Scott is taking the movie much more seriously than he does the games. In the words of Scott, " If I was treating the movie the same way I treated my games, we would already be 3 movies in, and they all would have been terrible".

I said it once, and I'll say it again, the DbD Forums are easily the most "anti-FNaF" part of the DbD community, if you go to YouTube or Reddit, they're much more accepting of the idea. Many DbD and FNaF YouTubers love the idea: 8-Bit Ryan, Bazamalam, FirsEncounterAssault (can't confirm this one for certain, but it's pretty clear he atleast somewhat likes the idea), Dawko, Seminatic, VenomXenomorph, and many, many more. It would be a dream come true to see FNaF make it into the game one day.

Alright, sorry for the long post. I atleast hope you read it :P

I mean they probably have the next chapters already in production as we speak

From what I heard, Chapters 17 and 18 are licensed. Assuming that's true, I don't expect Springtrap to be either of those, but after that I feel like we could possibly see him.

  • I play Bill since I love L4D

Right now, it's probably not happening, but I wouldn't say never. There's a ton of people that want it, so there's atleast an argument to be made.

  • @someshydude said:

If Paragraphs are still thing. I would like Clementine to be in Dead By Daylight.

This was the first character that came to mind for me.

  • @CrowFoxy said:

Well. I don't like to bash on anyone's stuff a lot, but I really have always had a problem with statements like this "I say Fnaf is a pinnacle of horror for its jump scares"

The game isn't scary at all, it's a bit tense at times but never does it make me fearful.

But that's also how dbd is so...

I'm not gonna lie and say FNaF is the pinnacle of horror, because it has its flaws, just like every game. As you mentioned, its not like DbD is either. However, it is true that FNaF was very influential within the horror genre. It essentially gave birth to indie horror, and thats why I, personally, believe it belongs in DbD.

And I'm also not saying it needs to be the next chapter or anything, perhaps just sometime down the line. There are plenty of other licenses that belong in DbD as well.

  • @Justalittlepeeck said:

Notice how many people who support FnaF are respecting or at least acting like they respect the opinion against FnaF and all their arguments are against stereotypes and negative bias people have and they just generally act like adults, while most people who don't support FnaF in DbD are acting aggressive, using their subjective and significantly incomplete knowledge about the game and act like entitled elitistic kids. Lmao

This is kind of the reason why I stopped trying to defend the idea of a FNaF chapter. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea, but people in the forums are pretty entitled to their opinions (and that's not restrictive to FNaF), so why even bother trying to change them?

People can like whatever they so chose, and I'm not here to tell them they shouldn't. I just wish everyone gave the games a fair chance, because when threads like these appear, it's evident who did and who didn't.

  • Stitchwraith.jpg

Here's a picture I found of the stitchwraith, just incase anyone needs a reference image.

I would like a FNaF chapter to come into DbD some day, but I have to be honest. If anyone from FNaF is going to make it in, then it would almost HAVE to be Springtrap. The Stitchwraith is an interesting character, but he's far too new imo. We haven't seen much of him outside of the books, and he doesn't really represent FNaF as a whole. As far as I'm aware (and I could be wrong about this), he doesn't actually have a strict motivation to kill. However, if a FNaF chapter were to come into dbd one day, why not make him a skin?

  • @SCP_FOR_DBD said:

I'd be down for it. I'm just sick of all these posts. Its the same arguments everytime, "FNAF bad, it dumb kiddy game with cringe, it no scary" . At this point I've just stopped caring. If it gets in, cool. If not, thats also cool.

    Yea same here

I agree with you the problems you listed for killers are definitely valid its not whether or not.the complaints are valid its more of the fact that killers dont take anything survivors say into consideration and will gang up on one survivor in the forums over something they disagree with.

Exactly. Unfortunately, a lot of the people on the forums are fairly close-minded, and will live and die by their perspective of the game, and that's just something that will have to be accepted, since there's really no guaranteed way to change it. That's why I mentioned that the devs shouldn't strictly listen to the forums.

I remember a forum posted not to long ago that said "Spirit using Stridor has no counterplay, change my mind", and plenty of people just went on the post just to say "SWF has no counterplay either", and it was incredibly infuriating to see this "Us vs Them" mentality ravage the community and make people blind to other perspectives.

This place could definitely benefit from a little more open-mindedness, and only then will you see both killers and survivors actually start to agree on some things.

  • @azame said:

After using this forum for some time the amount of killer bias here is insane. Any thing that even slightly benefits survivors is looked down upon. I think the main reason for this bias is do to the fact that in the past survivors were op but nowadays they arent that strong.

But because of the effects of 2016-rarly 2018 real survivor problems are ignored and that's not good. If we continue to ignore problems survivors face the player base will decline and the killer wait times will increase and inevitably the game will die.

Killer mains stop looking at survivors as someone out to ruin your game and look st them as a human wanting to have fun playing too.

I'm tired of the us vs them mentality why cant it be just "us." Why can't we look at all the problems as a whole and work to fix them. I ask killer mains and survivor mains alike play the opposite side and get good at it try to understand their struggles.

For you killer mains that say survivor is op go plag solo survivor at rank 1 and ask yourself do you want to play swf or that. For you survivor mains that think killer is op go play wraith on ormond and ask yourself is this even fair.

You guys know moris and keys right? Yeah they are both broken they both need reworks. The point I'm trying to make is that we need to get together and combine the community rather than divide and only then will dbd improve its health.

    Here's the thing.

First of all, I should mention, that I mainly play survivor (just so you can see where I'm coming from).

I think a fair chunk of the complaints about killer are valid, such as certain low-tier killers needing a buff, the bad billy changes, keys, or full red rank SWFs sweating and destroying games. However, there's a lot of stuff that killers have that make the game no fun for survivors, such as Spirit with Stridor, Tombstone pieces, Pink Moris, etc.

There's BS on both sides, any way you slice it. That's why I encourage the devs to not listen strictly to the forums. We're just a vocal minority in the grand scheme of things. That being said, don't disregard our opinions entirely either, just make sure that you have a larger perspective than just the forums.

  • Oni and Adam come to mind for me. I just think they're neat.

  • @justalilbit123 said:

    Trapper

    • Increase baseline max bear trap capacity to 2, up from 1.
    • Increase starting bear trap amount to 2, up from 1.
    • Change bear trap random placement buffer so that traps spawn closer to pallets and windows, allowing the possibility to set traps on the go as they will (more often than not) already be placed in useful positions.
    • Reduce survivor escape rate from bear traps to 10%, with stackable increase of 10% for each escape attempt. Reduces chance survivors escape on the first or second attempt, but increases likelihood of escape after multiple attempts, reducing the chance the survivor spends 20+ seconds unable to escape.

    Wraith

    • Change "Blink" addons to increase duration and amount of uncloaking speed boost, instead of reducing cloaking time. (Similar to old Windstorm addons)
    • Remove "Windstorm - Mud" addon, increase Wraith's baseline cloak speed by 12%. (Makes Windstorm - Mud's effects baseline)

    Michael Myers

    • Allow "Evil" points to very slowly regenerate once a survivor has not been stalked for a significant portion of time. This means that over time, a survivor who has been "totally drained" may eventually regenerate points for Michael to stalk. (I know Mikey is mid tier, not low tier, but I always thought this change would be nice)

    Clown

    • Increase reloading movement speed to 92%, up from 40.25%. (92% is the baseline speed 4.6 m/s killers carry survivors, also the speed of Demogorgon channeling his "Of the Abyss" power required to use Shred)

Just some small simple changes that would make playing these killers a bit more enjoyable. I don't claim these changes would miraculously fix their issues (killers like Clown and The Pig need serious addon reworks imo) but they would cut out some unneeded "slow down".

I mostly like the trapper changes, but I'd change trap escaping so that it isn't RNG dependent whatsoever. Just increase the escape time to maybe 12-15 seconds and make it not RNG dependent. This should make it far less frustrating for the survivors, since their fate isn't dependent on luck, as well as less frustrating for killers, since there's no easy, 2-second escapes.

  • I think he'd be kind of neat, but as people here already mentioned, he'd be incredibly counterable. If they can find a work around for that, then sure.

  • Tbh this goes both ways

While I was browsing DBD's comment section. Someone has account that's literally about Clementine, They want her to be in DBD.

There's a ton of those "Put (character) in DbD" accounts on Twitter. Actually, I'm pretty sure the Clementine account reposted an older post of mine.

  • Hasn't Mortal Kombat added horror characters in the past? Why not just add a DbD character to that instead?

  • I think it would be cool.

He's probably one of, if not the most requested killer right now. However, at the same time, he's probably one of the most UN-requested characters. There's really no objective reason that says he can't make it, but I guess that goes for a lot of things. I hope we see him in DbD one day.

  • If Bill wasn't in "Mega Chad", I would have thrown a tantrum.

  • Awww man, that's sad to hear. I was really excited for it.

  • Is respecting my opinion that hard?

I think FNaF would be cool to see in DbD, and as much as I like Gravity Falls, I don't think it would fit. Feel free to think otherwise, and I'm not here to say you shouldn't. It's just my personal preference.

  • I love Gravity Falls, I really do. However, at the end of the day, I just don't think it would fit well personally.

  • Wasn't it theorized that the banana splits movie used assets from, what would have been, the FNaF movie? I could be wrong, but I thought I heard about it somewhere.

No. Fnaf is the cheapest horror game out there. This is my opinion, so here I go. It just relies on its jumpscares, and don't come at me with how the story is amazing. The story is absolute garbage, and way too bloated and all over the place for it to even be half decent. Saying a story is good because of how complex it is, would be like saying a song with a screwdriver in a glass bottle, a laundry machine and a drill being played all at once is masterful. Every game is the same, night gaurd, use cameras etc etc. The games are so unoriginal that the scares fail almost all the time. Jumpscares are soooo predictable, and the animatronics just look silly. My opinion though ;).

I mean, I can respect your viewpoint of FNaF, but I don't really think it's fair to say that all of the games are the same. There's definitely more variety than what people give it credit for.

    EDIT: Whoops forgot to quote

  • I think it would be cool

EDIT: but for the love of all things holy, I really wish we didn't have yet another thread about this.

  • This entire thread is a dumpster fire and I love it.

  • I can agree with this to an extent. I think characters like Spirit and pre-patch Legion are boring because they have 0 counterplay. Atleast in Spirit's case, you just guess, but there was nothing you could do about pre patch legion.

However, I LOVE fighting deathslinger, but maybe that's just a me thing.

There are plenty of people here saying yes and no, some dont even like the franchise but think it would work. The only reason that all the people said no to FNaF in DbD is the fanbase and apparently its too childish when it really isnt

I think people definitely over exaggerate the issue. I've seen the argument "It would bring all of the Fortnite kids over" thousands of times, and it never gets more valid. People forget that Ninja (the fortnite guy) played DbD once, and would you look at that; No Fortnite kids came! No body even noticed. Even if FNaF did fall into the children's category, what would make it any different?

  • I think it would be cool.

  • I see more "whats with all of the FNaF posts" posts than actual FNaF posts, but I think Mookywolf described it the best.

  • It would be a great idea, if they could make it so that only the person that put the offering in can see the visuals. Otherwise it would be unfair to killers sometimes.
