Just looking for a Yes/No to get a community consensus.

Nope, good thing I can just switch to trapper.

  • This place is probably one of the most "anti-FNaF" parts of the DbD community I've seen. The Reddit seems more accepting of the idea, and YouTube especially.

If you want FNaF, that's great. If not, no big deal. But for the love of all things holy, please make sure that you give the game a fair chance before stating your opinion.

At this point, I'll probably stop defending a FNaF chapter. Not because I no longer support the idea, but rather because I see a lot of the same points recycled, a lot of which are subjective or unprovable, so I'll let people stay true to their opinions. I'll always support the idea, and so will many others.

I've always been happy for people who got to see their dream license come to DbD, all that I ask is that, if FNaF gets added, you guys do the same for me.

" You can pretend you're right and everybody thinks what you think and anything else can't possibly be true, but reality isn't going to conform to your self centered delusions."

    You want to reconsider perhaps?

I can agree that what he said wasn't the most nicely worded thing ever either, and I'd recommend he'd reword that in a less hostile manner, but that doesn't really justify attacking him in return.

jeez you have some issues there man, frustrated that you are a fan of something that appeals to 12 year olds exclusively or something?

Honestly its like a brony or however its spelled desperately trying to convince the world that My Little Pony is not for 8 year old girls.

ANYWHO, yeah 36000 signatures, quickly on its way to surpass the average active player count for the game...nothing at all fishy about that huh?

Dude, what the heck? That was completely unprovoked. He attacked an argument and you attacked him. There was 0 justification for that. You can have your opinions about FNaF; I won't stop you, but if it gets to the point where you attack other people then I feel like that becomes an issue.

Tbh, what if we do get a fnaf chapter what u gonna do?

    Delete the entire game?

Like seriously, u guys are making a big deal about springtrap coming in.

We haven't had an animatronic killer at all so he would of been unique

Anyone who deletes the game over strictly a chapter they don't like doesn't deserve to be in the community.

I always am happy for people who get their dream licensed character. All I ask is that y'all do the same for me.

He said he isn't on board with the fnaf hype, but also said he "wouldn't mind if he came or didn't come at all", like Groovy already said.

Alright, so as one of the (probably rare few) people on this forums who took the time to at least watch the beginning of that second video, I want to point out that second video ironically highlights the exact reasons why Fnaf shouldn't be in the game despite the fact that it's so often ironically tossed around these forums as "proof" it's "a good game" and a "Scary game" that fits into Dead By Daylight.

Here are the following quotes that I'll be using -

"It's all so spooky! It is you just feel helpless"

"Something about the elements of this particular version of the game was all in the unknown, you can't see it, you don't get a good look at em, like you know he's coming but you don't really know what's going on there."

"Just look at the angles that were chosen for this game. God, the first one is a masterpiece, it really is, it really is, it's so efficiently made. It is such an efficient experience, it is exactly what it needs to be and no more, period."

These are honest to god reasons why Fnaf shouldn't be in the game, from the mouth of "The King Of Five Night's At Freddy's" himself.

    1. "You just feel helpless"
      1. This is one of the primary reasons that people (specifically Fnaf's target audience) are captivated by and afraid when they play the game. You are locked in one position, you can't run, you can't hide, your back is against the wall and all you have are some lights, some doors and some cameras. This does not fit with the tone and gameplay of Dead By Daylight, it is in fact directly contradictory of it, while fnaf may be a "revolutionary indie horror game" Dead By Daylight is a classic slasher experience. You both run and hide from a killer who is hunting you down. Sometimes, in rare cases (although not so rare in today's meta) you can even fight back with perks like Decisive Strike, Head On, etc. something that clearly and blatantly goes against fnaf's core gameplay.
        1. So if you like fnaf, play fnaf, it's an entirely different and unique experience from Dead by Daylight it doesn't have to join Dead by Daylight for you to enjoy it. In fact it will likely do the exact opposite of what people who are fans would think it would do, instead of liking it more you'll probably end up liking it less.
      2. "Something about the elements of this particular version of the game was all in the unknown"
        1. There is no unknown here in Dead By Daylight, at least not for Fnaf. Fnaf might be creepy because of it's setting, it proposes the hypothetical of a real life serial killer who murdered children and stuffed their bodies into suits. In this way the story of Fnaf is kind of grounded (if you ignore all the parts about spirits, robots becoming sentient and coming to life, conspiracy theories that run deep etc.) and as a player you're wondering "what is going on" but in Dead by Daylight we know exactly what's going on. Roughly. The killer, springtrap in this case, would have been taken by the entity to do it's bidding and that's it, you're not an "average security guard working a night shift stuck in a supernatural nightmare" you're a survivor who's been stuck in a purgatory-like cycle of death for an unspecified amount of time . You know what to expect, you know what's happening, there's no unknown to scare you here.
          1. "you can't see it, you don't get a good look at em, like you know he's coming but you don't really know what's going on there."
            1. This is another reason why Fnaf doesn't work with Dead By Daylight. Fnaf relies heavily on the obscured vision you're given through the security cameras to heighten the tension of the game. You can't quite clearly make out the shadowy figures that stand in the hallway through the darkness and the static on the screen, and that makes the game scarier. In Dead By Daylight, there are no such restrictions to your view, the maps aren't impossibly dark and in fact most of them are brightly moonlit, one even has the sun just barely beginning to crest at Twilight shining over the map.
            2. Because of this you would see springtrap or whatever fuzzy animatronic it is, in broad moonlight. And unlike what mark says that makes the game scary, you would get a good look at them, you would know they're coming and you would know exactly what's going on. Fnaf is supposed to be scary because of the unnatural and unknown way that the animatronics slowly or quickly approach you, how are they moving that fast between rooms and cameras? You don't know, the game doesn't answer that, it's part of the horror aspect. But in Dead By Daylight you would know, and you would very clearly see these fuzzy robots running around in circles after you at your average loop.
      3. "Just look at the angles that were chosen"
        1. This goes hand in hand with the previous point, it's not just the poor lighting or the obstructed view caused by static that makes Fnaf what it is. The fixed angles from which the cameras are placed that provide a limited view of your surroundings also adds to the mystery and tension of what may or may not be taking place beyond the views of the cameras. This will not be so in Dead By Daylight, you will be looking directly at springtrap or whoever else as you loop the killer.
      4. "It is such an efficient experience, it is exactly what it needs to be and no more, period."
        1. This is the end all be all of the possibility of Fnaf getting into Dead By Daylight. At the end of the day these two titles are far to dissimilar to be even remotely compatible and if Fnaf ever were introduced into Dead By Daylight it would at the cost of literally everything that the fans fell in love with about the game in the first place. You would have to sacrifice all it's tension, mystery, jumpscares, and theme to integrate it into Dead By Daylight simply because Dead By Daylight does each of these things in a far more different way than Fnaf. It's tense in other aspects, it has it's own mysteries and lore that make it interesting, the fear in the game isn't always reliant on jumpscares, and the general theme and tone of the game is so drastically different it amazes me that there's a push for the integration of such a chapter in the first place.

"These are honest to god reasons why Fnaf shouldn't be in the game, from the mouth of "The King Of Five Night's At Freddy's" himself."

This is incredibly out of context, almost to the point where it's wrong. In no way, shape or form was he referring to Dead by Daylight or Springtrap. Hell, I'm not even sure Mark knows what DbD is. The reason why I linked the video wasn't to prove how FNaF would fit in DbD; it was to exemplify how the FNaF fanbase has matured over time.

Any movie, TV show, or videogame doesn't necessarily have to line up with DBD's style 1:1. Bill is from the L4D series, and that's a zombie shooter, with very few traditional horror/slasher elements. As SCP explained, Silent Hill falls into this category as well. People are questioning if Stranger Things even counts as horror. The Pig being considered a traditional slasher is also a little shaky. In no way does source material have to necessarily align with DbD's atmosphere or in-game functionality. Springtrap isn't far out from being a slasher himself, having killed upwards of a dozen innocent children. Considering all of these other unique slashers we have in DbD, Springtrap wouldn't be a stretch by any means.

"Something about the elements of this particular version of the game was all in the unknown"

I have to restate that this was taken out of context. This was Markiplier reflecting back on the first game, and how the mechanics, characters and environment were all foreign to him when he first played it. He was talking about his personal experiences, and it has absolutely 0 relation to Dead by Daylight or Springtrap.

With maybe the exception of the first game (maybe) and the sixth, FNaF has never really crutched on the unknown, and especially in the recent games, since the horror is more up-front than ever before. The concept of the unknown isn't foreign to DbD either. Ghostface and Myers have their whole ability centered around stealth, and survivors not being aware of their presence.

Springtrap canonically died, and was sent to purgatory to repent for all of the children he killed. It was told to the player that he'd be going to hell after, so it makes no sense why he couldn't have just gone to the entity's realm instead. He's been in purgatory before, who's to say he can't be in another one?

"you can't see it, you don't get a good look at em, like you know he's coming but you don't really know what's going on there."

Again, this wasn't in the context of Springtrap. In FNaF 3 (the one where Springtrap makes his appearance), there's really nothing that's hidden from you. You can clearly see him when he's there. He's always been one of the more "active" characters in the series. You can sometimes see him run down a corridor, he'll occasionally stalk you from around a corner, and in the newer games, he sometimes talks to you (this last feature isn't limited to him, but he's the only animatronic with a human voice, which makes him less of a traditional animatronic).

"Just look at the angles that were chosen"

I guess this is somewhat valid, but as someone who's played most of the FNaF games, the camera angles never really stuck out to me as anything extraordinary. I guess that's more of a personal thing.

"It is such an efficient experience, it is exactly what it needs to be and no more, period."

"This is the end all be all of the possibility of Fnaf getting into Dead By Daylight"

Even if I didn't like FNaF, I'd still disagree here. People will request it until the day it gets in, just like any other character. And just like any other character, it has it's fair share of supporters. With both, BHVR and Scott Cawthon being aware about the demand, I wouldn't exactly say its unlikely. I'm not saying it's going to be the next chapter or anything, but it's more than possible in the future.

"You would have to sacrifice all it's tension, mystery, jumpscares, and theme to integrate it into Dead By Daylight simply because Dead By Daylight does each of these things in a far more different way than Fnaf."

Sacrifice tension? If anything, DbD would increase the tension that would already come with a FNaF character, but of course, it might depend on the power/perks/addons he would have, but I can guarantee you, it would not decrease the level of tension that FNaF has in any way. Sacrifice FNaF's mystery? FNaF has a ton of lore that doesn't relate to William Afton directly, nor would DbD necessarily spoil that lore. Dead by Daylight would most likely throw out jumpscares, but I don't think even FNaF fans would be sad to see them go. They're only a small part of FNaF in the grand scheme of things. As for the theme, I don't think it's different at all, and I think Springtrap would fit in seamlessly, but its up to interpretation since it all comes down to how you perceive the games to being with.

I'm not trying to bash on you for your opinion; think whatever you want. If you don't think it'd fit, that's fine. I think it would. We're allowed to have different opinions but maybe not on the internet for all I know. I can see where your concern comes from, but I personally don't believe any of those should be concerns.

  • FNaF, I've had more attachment to it than Alien.

The story is basically a guy that murdered some kids and now the spirits of said kids possess the animatronics. And I think the original murder possesses one too (Springtrap)?

I personally don’t see that as an “amazing story”. If the developer has to come out and steer his audience, that’s poor storytelling.

Ehhhhh, that's part of it. The story goes a lot more in depth, but I'll spare you the mouthful (unless you want me to tell you).

However, I think there is a misconception about how FNaF's story is layed out. The creator isn't trying to tell us a story, he's giving us clues to figure one out, and many FNaF fans are drawn back into the series to theorize, which in turn keeps the series alive.

I find you funny. If I don't like something im going to state it. Also I'm not a Dev, I don't have the ability to shoot down anything. All I can do is state my reasoning why I wouldn't want a specific thing in game. No one is stopping anyone from requesting chapters, but it gets silly when you are asking for a kids game to be brought into the DBD universe.

Some people don't see FNaF as "little kid stuff", and those (more often than not) are the people who want FNaF in DbD.

And as you said, it's okay for anyone to request whatever chapter they want, and nobody should be looked down on for what they like.

EDIT: That last part wasn't supposed to be held against you; I was just agreeing.

Again, I am not bashing the game itself nor its fans/players/streamers... I am simply stating that the “lore” is not anything to write home about.

What I am against are the claims that there is a “rich” lore behind the half-assed stories that Scott is trying to tell, which has gone through at least ONE retcon. Scott Cawthorn’s OWN words:

“The truth is that I've done one actual retcon in the series (although I'm not going to say where it was).“

I think that Scott has an amazing story going for FNaF. He just intentionally doesn't spoon feed it to the fans because, well, that's for them to figure out. Yes, it can lead to things being somewhat convoluted, but Scott always makes sure to steer people to the right track.

As for the retcon, I feel like it also would have been a good idea to mention that Scott also said this: "To be clear, the one retcon mentioned was integrated pretty seamlessly, and most people didn't notice. If it had caused problems or confusion then I would have addressed it here [in a reddit post]."

I'm not saying FNaF is some Shakespearean literary masterpiece by any means, but it has a lot more of a story that what people give it credit for.

  • I would guess about a month and a half. Look out for mid-August.

I personally think Help Wanted was the best FNaF game, with Pizzeria Sim at a close second.

The gameplay was super interactive (and pretty scary), the story wasn't overly convoluted, and it was overall a very well designed and content-packed game!

It got popular because of people flocking to Lets Play channels of adults exaggerating the jumpscares in order to seem “funny” and attract viewers.

From what I’ve seen, there is no established/consistent lore. A purple 8-bit man walking around? What a great way to explain a backstory.

I'm going to copy and paste an older response I had to another comment because I feel like it could also address something here.

If I were to guess, when you think of cringey let's players, I bet one of the first ones that came to mind was Markiplier. This was Markiplier's first ever let's play on FNaF:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOztnsBPrAA

Many people criticize him here for acting immature and child like, and faking his reactions while being scared. This video was posted almost 6 full years ago, and people still largely credit it today for the child like audience that FNaF supposedly has, but I think there's a HUGE chunk of information that people tend to leave out.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UADsp88ZW14

Copied and pasted: "Linked here is Markiplier's video where he plays FNaF 1 in 2020, about 2 months ago. I have no clue if you actually watched the video already, but if you haven't already, I want you to think about what you expect to see. In his first playthrough, people see mark act more childlike, and get scared easily (which made people think he was faking being scared). Now watch this video, does any of that hold up today?

No, not in any capacity. In this video, he takes a deeper look at the game, viewing it through more of a nostalgic and objective light. He's not screaming. He's not faking being scared. He's enjoying the game for the experience it provides, while talking about how far the franchise as a whole has come. This is actual proof of how the fanbase has matured over time, and I know that Markiplier doesn't exemplify absolutely everyone, but it's definitely representative of a good chunk of the FNaF community, atleast according to the people that hold Markiplier accountable for creating FNaF's, supposedly, childlike demographic.

It's sad to see how much unjustified hate FNaF gets, and I'm not talking about the people who simply don't like it, but rather the people who rehash the same reasons why FNaF is bad to them, then refuse to listen to criticisms."

  • "Here's why Springtrap SHOULDN'T be added to DbD:

    1) He's purple"

AY AY WOAH! There's no need for racist comments like that here in these innocent forum pages. /s

Jokes aside, I think FNaF would make a great chapter, mainly because I feel like a lot of people do FNaF a disservice around here, and refuse to look at it in an unbiased manner. If you don't like it, that's fine, but I always see the same points recycled. No matter how many times either me, or somebody else, tries to disprove them, they always come back, still as flawed as ever. It's why I stopped actually trying to fight the criticism that these theads present, because most of the time, I've answered them in some way shape or form already.

I'll just link this here as my official opinion: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/117521/why-a-fnaf-chapter-wouldnt-be-a-bad-idea/p1

That's just your opinion, there's plenty of AMAZING adult content creators who love the game because it really scared them.

    https://youtu.be/iOztnsBPrAA

Moverover, just look at this video and look at his reaction, no kids game can do this to a person. However, I guess your mind fixated and the best we can do is agree to disagree. 🙂

I believe all of the points you made are valid, but there's something else I want to add.

You linked Markiplier's first ever playthough of FNaF, and although I can't say for certain, I think a lot of people think of videos like these when they associate FNaF with children (since mark's audience at the time was tweens/teens).

I always try to make it a point to prove that FNaF's audience has matured more than people are giving it credit for. I always wanted to post this somewhere in one of these FNaF related threads, but never could find the opportunity to, so thanks for providing the groundwork for me to do it.

How can you say its moved on from jump scares when every point you made is about the jump scares. We have jump scares in the hag and myers.

If you're talking about why I defended FNaF by saying "its not just jumpscares", that's because it's what OP saw FNaF as, and I wanted to show how that's not the case.

What points did I make about jumpscares being the only scary thing about FNaF? If you're referring to the examples I listed about the VR games, those aren't jumpscares, or atleast not the type of jumpscares that everyone else is referring to. They're not just "boo!" and then its over. They're prolonged moments of fear, intentionally supposed to fill you with dread, more like traditional horror.

I can maybe see an exception with the Foxy example, but even then, the fear in that moment is still more prolonged than a traditional FNaF jumpscare, since its not just a "boo!". It's supposed to be a brief moment that fills you with pressure, but not so brief to where it's a jumpscare. There's nothing "up and in your face", but rather a moment of sharp dread as you're forced to react quickly. I know I over explained it a bit, but hopefully you see where I'm coming from.

Yes, FNaF VR has jumpscares, but that's not where its only horror aspects comes from.

    EDIT: words

  • Well its not that people don't want alien, people have requested it for ages. I'm pretty sure that addition of silent hill made people speculate into video game territory more than movies, hence why it may seem like FNaF is waaay more requested than alien.

I'd always rather see FNaF though, since I've always been more of a video games kind of guy. If Alien were added though, I wouldn't be upset. I know a lot of people want to see it, so that's enough to make me accept it as well.

  • Anime isn't really my go-to when I think about horror (and tbf, it isn't my go-to for anything; I dont watch anime). That being said, I probably wouldn't want to see anime in DbD, but if it does get added, I won't quit; it's not the end of the world.

As long as it makes someone happy, its good by me.

i play this game because of the horror/slasher vibe, i love how we have myers, bubba, freddy etc. but honestly will be hugely disappointed if we get an anime over Alien, pinhead, jason, candyman or any type of werewolf or vampire... i already dislike all the comedic outfits and how lack luster the horror theme gets because rushing gens becomes easy. when i play survivor i want to see those iconic characters, its a huge selling point of this game and is the huge reason i still play for 3+years

Well if that's the case, just don't vote for it.

"The FNAF story is too shallow to fit into DBD." Compared to what exactly? You're telling me that TCM, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Halloween have rich and deep stories? TCM is literally "teenagers in my house? chainsaw go brrrrr".

"It would bring all the Fortnite kids to the game." Lets not forget that Ninja played this game for a week straight and stopped because his viewers preferred Fortnite. Also little kids would get mauled by the games steep learning curve.

"its cringe and would bring the cringe FNAF fans." Yeah like the DBD community didn't have Silent Hill rule 34 only TWO HOURS after the announcement(Being careful of who I follow on Twitter now...). Most of the "10 year old FNAF fans" are mid-late teens now, which is a healthy demographic to get into the game since it'll help the games longevity.

"Not really scary enough to fit. It would kill the immersion" Pretty opinionated, but I'm sure everyone is shaking in their boots when Trapper, Legion, Ghostface, Huntress, Pig, or Bubba are walking up on them. Also immersion is pretty dead when survivors stop taking the game seriously to boop the Pigs snoot or to offer themselves to basement Bubba.

"FNAF is just jump scares, it wouldn't fit in DBD." Wraith, Ghostface, Michael, Pig, basement Bubba, and HAG want to know your location. The devs don't have to be limited to just jump scares when designing his power.

"The killer lore is too bad, its literally just a guy in a suit." Springtraps lore is more scary and sinister than Trapper, Wraith, Hillbilly, and Legion. I know his kill count is low, but if was never confined to his suit, he would've most likely gone down the same path similar to Clown and just murdered children his entire life.

Those are the main ones I can think of off the top of my head while I'm fighting morning killer queue times, but im open to discussion.

"I know I know, ANOTHER FNAF post, but I've seen about 50 posts about DS or Moris so I'm sure it's fine."

This is perhaps the best intro I've seen to one of these FNaF threads, bravo.

But yeah, I agree with everything said here. It seems like the DbD reddit has become a lot more accepting of the idea. There's now memes about how much FNaF appears there (and Ig it's sort of a meme here too). Anyway, well said!

I want to start off by saying that I'm not vilifying anyone who wants a fnaf chapter. Everyone's free to have their own opinions. But I am highly not in favour for adding in Springtrap. Here are my reasons.

    1. He cannot be taken seriously

Say what you will about the subjectivity of horror, but the reputation of fnaf is a far cry from the likes of Halloween and Friday the 13th. What I mean by this is that someone who has never seen any movie from either franchise will instantly know that they're both horror related.

Now I will fully admit to not playing all of the fnaf games, nor reading any of the books. Maybe they've greatly improved since I dropped them and what I'm about to say is no longer correct. But fnaf is mostly known for its themepark-like jump scares and teeth-shatteringly obnoxious fanbase. The latter is not even a fault of the game's, (mostly because of content creators like Matpat and his hilariously baseless theories), and the rabidity of the fans. But even if that information is outdated, the fact remains that fnaf's general reputation is only loosely based around horror. Which would heavily contrast dbd's tone as a horror game.

2.The game does not need more licensed characters right now

This point is self explanatory. There are currently 20 killers in the game right now. 7 of them are licensed. Almost half of the entire roster! The majority of which have had lacklustre receptions and do not add much to the game besides their name. Pig and Cannibal are the main culprits. And the most recent one inclusion, Pyramid Head, has been nothing if not divisive. I believe that exploring killer ideas that haven't been thought of yet, *cough* *cough* Egypt *cough* *cough*, would have a better chance of producing interesting killers than ones that already exist.

    3. Literally everything is broken right now

Survivors randomly get iron will, the End Game Collapse can happen at the start of a game, the killer can be phased through when they vault. My point is, the devs really need to stop content updates for a bit so they can add some much needed bug fixes. If you take anything away from this post, take away this:

Dbd has been long overdue for it's variation of Rainbow Six Siege's Operation Health. But ideally a version that actually fixes the game a bit.

    In summary:

    • Fnaf is not seen as scary by most people due to its reputation, and thus Springtrap wouldn't be taken seriously
    • The game has enough licensed characters for the time being, original killers are more interesting
    • The devs need to focus on fixing the mountain of bugs in the game and hold off on content updates for a bit, the game can literally end the moment it begins thanks to the End Game, the last thing dbd needs right now is content that brings more bugs
    1. I think that this is just more of an opinionated statement. I'm not saying it's invalid or anything, but it's something I disagree with. How many other video game licenses can you possibly get to before FNaF? I guess you could always revisit the L4D chapter, or maybe find something with RE, but other than that, there isn't really a whole lot of other video game franchises that I could reasonably see.

FNaF has moved beyond just jumpscares, and in my opinion, it never really was "just jumpscares" (there's a reason it still has a following today). It already started to do this by developing a unique lore for fans to figure out, but this change was especially evident in the leap VR. The VR game included remasters of the first 3 games, and instead of making them filled with jumpscares and calling it a day (which they could have easily gotten away with), they decided to put more horror into its atmosphere.

For example, in the remastered version of FNaF 1, you can now see the animatronics stare at you as they walk right outside your door. You can also peek into the hallway, and occasionally see foxy running right at you. In other parts of the game, like the animatronic repair games, you can be face to face with an animatronic, turn around to grab a part, and when you turn back around, they're gone. I can maybe see why you wouldn't like the older games I guess, but the newer games put jumpscares in the back seat. If you haven't seen the VR game, I recommending watching someone play it.

2: I personally don't think there's a defined "limit" on how/ what licensed characters should be in the game. Although, reading what you have to say about other licensed characters, it now becomes more clear why you wouldn't want characters like Springtrap. If Pyramid Head is considered "decisive" (the character himself; not his gameplay mechanics), despite being from arguably the most critically acclaimed video game horror franchise of all time, then I can see why FNaF wouldn't exactly be your favorite. So far atleast, I've been perfectly okay with the licenses that they have, and I wouldn't be against the addition of more.

3: Although I do agree that the devs should spend some time fixing bugs, I highly doubt they're going to stop releasing content any time soon.

I'm not trying to say "You must like FNaF or you're objectively incorrect", and if you don't like it, that's fine. What I am asking to not only you, but to everyone in this thread, is this: Am I giving this game a fair chance? From what I've seen, plenty of people are, but at the same time, many are not. I personally think Springtrap would be an amazing addition. If by any chance you'd want to read more about my opinion, here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/117521/why-a-fnaf-chapter-wouldnt-be-a-bad-idea/p1

Like DS, this will change the game even in lobbies where it isn't being run.

Think about what DS does. If you are a killer, and you enter a lobby where there is an obsession, you have to start off assuming all four players have DS. That affects who you chase, who you pick up, etc. It may be that 0 people out of 4 have it, but you still need to play around it.

Lightborn will be the same thing. The survivors will know that the killers know who is bringing a flashlight (unless it is the 6 second equip trick, but a seasoned killer should see that coming anyway and have their finger on lightborn). Therefore, the survivors will assume that the killer will equip lightborn if they see a flashlight. Therefore, the survivor will not equip a flashlight at all. The killer gets the benefit of lightborn without using it!

Lightborn seems like it'd be that perk that I'd equip against a sweaty SWF group with flashlights, so yes.

    Hey guys,

I just had this crazy idea of how Pennywise terror radius could be different from other killers.

What if it worked the opposite way to the regular terror radius?

Outside the 32m survivors would hear a regular heart beat (not too loud), and as Pennywise got closer, the would start to fade away, until it went completely silent, meaning he was right on top of you.

I believe this would help inducing more fear Into the survivors, which is the whole concept of Pennywise.

Do you think it could work? Would it be good?

Any killer that has this would be an immediate yes from me.

I enjoy the thrill of a scary video game and what there is to be had in this game. I know the PC version of this game and the existence of a console version. I've always felt the PC version should be "The directors cut". Where the devs put in the darkest gore and violence into this game. You know. "The stuff that makes the game truly controversial".

Looking forward to a future release ideas that were shelved because they were just too gruesome😎

As ninja said, Dread equals horror. Excessive gore is how you get games banned in certain countries.

  • My dream would be a FNaF chapter, but I don't really see it being possible until next year.

For now, I think I'll go with Candyman since I know people want him.

  • With the exception of maybe spirit, they're all balanced.

I wasn't asking him to prove they're real or fake, no where did I even request that. My explanation was speaking in general terms as to why online petitions as a whole are not taken seriously.

"Unless you have some way to prove someone isn't just signing it with multiple accounts/bots there's no way to know if it's someone signing once or a kid that has time on their hands to create a bunch of email accounts and keep signing the petition to pad the numbers."

This is what I was referring to. It's unfair to automatically assume that a significant chunk of these are just fake votes, especially when the petition's ideas are actively supported outside the petition (on places like the FNaF and DbD reddit pages, as well as YouTube). I can see a few fake votes, sure, but not enough to significantly change the results.

These online petitions are just a way to say "Hey, people do/ don't want this", not necessarily a "call to action for BHVR". There's not much the fans can do other than just support the idea anyways, hence why these petitions get created in the first place.

It's not an insult, I'd say it about any online petition because that is what happens with most and why they are not taken seriously. Unless you have some way to prove someone isn't just signing it with multiple accounts/bots there's no way to know if it's someone signing once or a kid that has time on their hands to create a bunch of email accounts and keep signing the petition to pad the numbers.

Why are you trying to ask him to prove the signatures are real, when you can't prove they're fake either? Mere suspicion isn't enough. Even if 25% of the signatures were fake (which is a huge over-exaggeration), that's STILL over 16,000 people.

I agree with the whole nerf/buff debate and there is a point to be made about his mindgames, but there is also something that I would like to add with that: It stops people for EXCESSIVE revving. If you start it up to force someone to take a vault or possibly a saw, then that's fine. It's a smart move. My issue is when people hold it for a full minute and walk around parading it like a child with a sports trophy.

The main thing about this "nerf" is that it will only punish bad Hillbillies, not all Hillbillies, which was also the case with Nurse.

Here's the thing though, as I mentioned earlier, revving the chainsaw was a great way to mindgame loops, with the better player coming out on top. With the example you mentioned (with the billy revving around the loop), that billy would most likely lose regardless of the nerf.

Dead by Daylight has always pushed away new players due to its inability to effectively teach all of the game's deeper mechanics (such as learning and being weary about specific perks in game), and this change only worsens that issue, as now not only are the bad players being punished for trying to learn, but the good players can no longer use the chainsaw like they used to.

  • @Sluzzy said:

A really good post. I agree. BHVR is well aware how unfun cooldown mechanics are because it happened with nurse:. Nurse mains jumped ship. Now Billy? It goes to show BHVR does not care about long-term players.

Part of Billy's fun was the ability to have full flexibility with the chainsaw, you are in control of it. Now you are limited and that is not fun. It's also bad design. A game is supposed to be fun but nurse is not fun and so will Billy. Very bad decision to nerf for no reason.

The last thing Dead by Daylight needs is another power bar/gauge. Now we have two killers (one of which was almost fine as is) who are getting one reworked into their kit. The Hillbilly's chainsaw was a tool given to the player, and it was up to the player to determine how they could use it to their advantage, and that's what separated the good Billys from the bad ones.

This "resource management" mechanic removed some of the potential that really good Billys could use to their advantage, and on top of that, it hurts newer players (as if DbD doesn't do that enough) and it removes the depth that the player themselves input.

Not only is the nerf unreasonable and counter-intuitive, it fails to even address the very few issues that Billy had to begin with. It is change for the sake of change, and nothing else

  • @PrettyFaceKate said:

I think the devs are going wrong about Billy, but also that the community is failing to recognize certain problems that there are with him. Which, again, the devs are trying to solve in a questionable way, imo.

Billy came out when the game was vastly different. With the rework of maps, pallet numbers, introducing new perks and keeping old add-ons, then a new meta came about that I'm sure the devs saw as problematic. This new meta, popularized by content creators, poses balance problems without a doubt. Slap on Crack Billy or insta saw, pop, corrupt, infectious and bbq. Then everyone is down in under two minutes, or they play it safe and all pallets are gone in two minutes and everybody is slugged by the third one. Test it, you barely have to try to succeed, as long as you have BASIC experiencs. Everything but infectious is even negotiable and you can trade for bamboozle/enduring and get the same results. The game is moving away from gen rushing. It's obvious that the devs don't want kill rushing either.

What I find questionable are the basekit changes. I think the above could've been addressed without touching, or barely touching, his base kit. However, we know how these things roll and we'll likely have to get over it.

Yeah I can agree with this.

I feel like certain addon combinations can make some killers a little OP, not just Billy specifically. Just look at myers as a glaring example, since without addons, he's mid tier give or take, but if you give him any of the tombstone addons, he immediately becomes WAY more powerful.

But also as you mentioned, I think his basekit and most of his addons (excluding the overpowered combinations that you mentioned) are okay as they are. I definitely wouldn't be against looking at some of his addons, and making some minor adjustments to make them more fair.

  • @Hellbughunter said:

I think this sudden spike is a combination of pyramid head, showing video game killers are possible, and gaining enought traction for people to say " that could realy happen". Most fan requests are screems into the void, but with this people feel it is possible for him to "Allways come back"

I see what you did there, nice one!

  • @skarsguts said:

Why do people want "horror"-furries in the game? That have a fanbase consisting of 11 year olds?

Because those 11-year olds aren't 11 anymore. The series gained its 11-year old following 6 years ago, and most of the fans have matured since then. Combine that with the newer games becoming more dark (due to being developed by AAA studios), and now you have a perfectly legitimate option for a new licensed character.

  • @Dehitay said:

Dang, this petition has gotten more people on it than I was expecting. It's getting close to half of the average active player count.

Has Scott Cawthon said anything about Dead by Daylight yet? It's so hard to get info from that guy.

Dawko emailed Scott Cawthon about it, but Scott has given no official statement about it, but I doubt he'll make one regardless of whether or not he likes the idea.

  • All I can say is vote with your wallet. If you dont like it, don't buy it, so BHVR will know to not make more.

  • I would like to see Springtrap in DbD one day, but I can’t help but feel like this person is milking it a little.

  • I'd love to see it one day, but I'm not holding my breath. The devs will do what they think is right.

This is just out of curiosity which killer that was revealed got you so excited that you were screaming happily. I would say for me it would be Pyramid head I remember how gitty everyone got when it was revealed he was coming to the game even I was excited ( Tbh I was expecting Candyman or Jason, but Pyramid head I thought was another option). I was excited about it, now which killer you gave that vibe?

Odd choice here, but I'm gonna say the Oni.

But yet you desperately want FNaF...? 🤔 Hmm. Okay, that’s your opinion! Thanks for the input.

True. The main reason I want FNaF more than Scooby Doo is because people merely claim that FNaF targets 6-year olds, while Scooby Doo actually does target 6-year olds.

  • @HarleyQuinn said:

I’m thinking the live action so it’s not so cartoony though. Would it work? These guys are always running away from monsters 🧐 And Scooby Doo is a classic. It’s not your typical slasher horror obviously, but I’d still like to see it.

I think Scooby Doo to Dead by Daylight is like Wii Fit Trainer or Piranha Plant to Smash Bros. That being said, I would probably rather see a legendary skin rather than a full on DLC, but I'm open on the idea ig.

  • @Semimatic said:

I'm sort of for him being added, but I don't really get why people think that this will become Fortnite hell if Springtrap is added. The character itself could work in my opinion and would add a lot more killer variety into the roster. I think @Dehitay brought up a really good point of people mindlessly being close minded and absolutely hating on the idea without giving specific reasons why.

I'm all for if you want him or don't want him in, just be a mature person and be mindful of others and give actual reasons why, additionally, let's not spam the forums with this.

For my actual reasoning of why I would even be fine if some of the fanbase come to here, is because I don't think it's all bad. The newer games coming out are being made in collaboration with game studios and are actually quite frightening, and their new game so far seems very promising. Although some of the fanbase has early tweens, I know a larger amount that are late teenagers and even young adults. With some leaks, it even appears one of the new killer introduced in the FNaF game has a kitchen knife (I don't believe it is an animatronic, rather a sadistic killer in a mascot suit), and I really doubt that it won't have mature themes or blood.

Should he be added now? Probably not, or even maybe. Should he be added in the future (preferably after the new game comes out)? Sure.

Yeah this is pretty much my take on the situation as well.

Just to add a bit to your last point, I also agree that now would probably not be the most optimal time to release such a chapter. I think the best time would be sometime between November 2020 (to coincide with the release of Security Breach also coming at the year's end) - August 2021 (or whenever the FNaF movie is about to come out).
