Yeah, games should be played how they are intended. Killers kill, survivors survive. Anything in between is fair game.
On a side note....
How many posts shall it be untill this thread descends into something completely unrelated?
-
Man you guys must of not been around in MW2 days. T bagging is just an animation, it literally does nothing to enhance the game or players ability

Please don't take this the wrong way, but I would agree you are out of touch. The funny thing is, so am I. But I know that it's not my time anymore. It's theirs. My times done. Lol
Yeah I retracted my statement. I am a bit out of touch with the way it works now :(

Not gonna stop. Same with tunnelling, DS, BT, adrenaline, flashlights and t bagging

Nah man of Medan I skipped also because of a lack of funds, so I watched people play through it. Was still very entertaining (thanks Mark) but imo was a worse game than UD so I didn't get it myself.
It wasn't as good as I expected. Little hope should be better though

Stage 4: you can't play the game anymore because you're on Win7. At least Civ 5 still works fine.
Stage 5: oh I safety pipped. That's great.

Nope! Not at all. In fact I loved it, knowing what would happen, because I could use all the lore and hints at the start and link it together as I found it. Furthermore, I got the joys of knowing how to save people, so when I wanted to let everyone survive I could. It was still exillerating, because I could still fail the QTEs and the Don't Move Events and everything. It was fantastic!!
Well everyone is different I suppose. Did you play man of medan? I played every play through blind to get the different endings. If I had watched videos or let's plays I wouldn't of bought it. Maybe I was a bit selfish in my original statement then. So if offence was caused then I apologise

surely playing the game is more enjoyable
Go back to my story of Until Dawn- I was unable to play the game until literally last week, so I watched many people play it many times.
Does that not take the enjoyment out of it for you?

That is completely different from what I am talking about.
I suppose yiu could go the angle its for enjoyment, but what I'm getting at is surely playing the game is more enjoyable

Thusfar every young person I know, including myself, who streams has the attitude of "This'll be amazing if it works but education is more importnat." I passed my GCSEs with no grades lower than an 8, many with a 9, and currently in college I'm studying Law, Economics, and RS, aiming to be either a Lawyer or Accountant (yeah, you can get into degree-level apprentiships with a 6 or more in maths at GCSE). From what I've heard, they're both pretty respectable careers, and as much as I'd love to become a full-time streamer, if it remains a hobby then I'm not going to complain.
You sound like someone who loves to use minion memes on Facebook, ngl.
Also, I love how you insult people who enjoy paying people for their time by calling them braindead. Damn, you sound really fun at parties!
Edit: typos
It's an opinion, I think they are brain dead. I remember watching that Bobbypoff playing call of duty and thinking is this how it's gonna be?
Well I wish you lucky with your career

Becoming a Streamer or content creator is no different for the "younger generation" than becoming an author or actor who had dreams of making it big was for previous generations. Or the sports star. Some will make it, many won't and they'll eventually find other work.
I've been an author for close to 30 years. I also spent 14 years in the gaming industry. I'd also written for Marvel and worked on Highlander: The Series in the 90s. I had extended family members who talked like you: I would never make it, I'm throwing my life away, et cetera.
Fast-forward, and not only have I been best-selling, but I've had my I.P. licensed by others. I've made a nice living in fiction and games. If I had listened to those extended family members, I'd probably be making a lot less money, working for someone else and making them rich, and wouldn't be able to work from home where I raised my kids, not some daycare provider.
There's no harm in them pursuing their dream. If they happen to be the small percentage that make it, good for them. If they don't, life will force them into other jobs. If they choose to not get other work and make a living for themselves . . . well, unfortunately there are enough of those people in the world already, and it has zero to do with Twitch or YouTube.
Yeah I get that side of it, I'm not attacking every you tuber. I just don't get it myself personally.
And well done on chasing your dream, what genre of books do you write, and if you don't mind, can you give some of their names?

Whoa slow down there grandpa. Adapt or die.
I say that as a 41 year old, btw. *We* are no longer the arbiter of what is and isn't a valid profession. You can say "go get a skill!" But.... No. These kids don't need to. They are doing what they want how they want when they want.
Us old people would have killed for that. Unless you're one of those people that have to be told what to do. Then sure, go get a job. But I'm not and I fail to see a reason why this isnt a legit profession. Just because you don't like something doesn't make it invalid. Just because something doesn't contribute to society in the way you think it should, doesn't mean it doesn't have merit or worth.
Go get back on your rocking chair grandpa, cuz this isn't our world anymore, it's the kids. We're just living in it.
Wouldn't quite say grampa. Kids addicted to YouTube and watching people play games all day seems odd. Paying people on twitch is even more strange.
But I don't use any sort of social media as I think it effects peoples mental health severely, so could say I'm out of touch

Honestly, using whatever perks, addons or tactics you like is technically allowed, but I don't think i would have fun playing with you in a match. Then again given your build and the silly childish move of closing the hatch in a downed survivors face, i get the impression that this doesn't concern you much. You do you at the end of the day, no rules to say you have to play nice, but a game like this would be a disappointment to me since I'm the sort of survivor who tries very hard to avoid their own side's 'toxic' stereotypes.
There's no technically allowed in it. Your allowed to do anything you chose with builds and in play t-bagging

Clearly you won't but other people enjoy it. They see it as a form of entertainment and subsequently will pay to support the entertainer. If that's not your thing, congrats, because it's entirely optional.
As someone who didnt, and still doesn't, own a ps4 I had to watch people play Until Dawn. Only recently did I cave, buy a controller, and use a free trial of PSNow to play it (by the way, amazing experience, would recommend). If I was able to, I would've gladly dropped a sub or a couple bits to people on Twitch who were playing it through because it was some pretty class entertainment.
Yeah I enjoyed untill Dawn,
But going back to the whole paying to watch thing, I can't get my mind around why people pay so much money to watch so called ' content creators' I've saw the odd video on YouTube that's funny but I wouldn't pay £4 to subscribe to someone to sit on their game all day. All the younger generations are going to think this is the way forward. Go out, learn a skill to make money that benefits the world, be an electrician, a hospital worker, a shop worker. Sitting playing a game with brain dead followers is not how to build a life. It's like Jersey shore, big brother etc.

I do not, and will not, ever u derstand why people pay to watch other people play games. Its the epitome of the society we are in

I'm writing this post with a heavy heart due to the wave of dc's that have been plaguing our beloved game. From what I've gathered from in-game experience and reading this message board, the culprit seems to be a portion of the console base that are convinced that it is unfair that they are required to play against "superior" pc players. I'm here to tell you that you severely misunderstand the situation and your "protest disconnects" are only ruining the health of the game.
How can I say this you may ask? It's because I've been playing DBD on pc for 15 months now and . . . I've only ever used a CONTROLLER!!! Yes, I know this is sacrilege but frankly I don't care. I switched to pc gaming from consoles several years back because controller support had become so widely adopted. I'm sure I'm not the only one. It's the best of both worlds really. You get the granular control over fps and such but you can sit back and relax with a controller in hand. I sit in a computer chair all day for work. I don't want to have to when playing games at home and that's why we live in a world with options.
Because of this I can tell you that, aside from framerates, pc players do not have an overall advantage over console players. I've only ever used a controller and I've managed to be able to learn how to loop killers well and escape as survivor. I've also managed to hold my own as a controller killer and secured many 4k's over pc survivors. I think too many console players have heard the phrase "pc master race" too many times and have taken it to heart when it was really a phrase born of a time when pc's and consoles were completely different beasts with very few overlapping titles.
I know this is a long post but my point is this recent wave of disconnects is not proving any point and only damaging the health of the game. You're just going to have to learn to adapt to some new playstyles. It's no different than having to learn to adapt when a new killer comes out or a killer is reworked which is something we all have to deal with every few months or so.
TL;DR: The playing field is more fair than you think, you just have adjust to different play styles. I can say this with confidence because I've only played on pc and never used m/k, only a controller. Please stop dc'ing. You're ruining the game experience for everyone.
Only better frame rates.... May as well compare an atari to a ps5

So, couple years ago, I purchased DbD due to Myers. Of all the slasher Icons I grew-up on, he was always my favorite. I put him down in early to mid 2019 due to burnout and moved on to other killers.
Anyway, been trying to pick him up again and having a lot of trouble getting any type of pressure or even a snowball effect (Purple rank survivors).
Any tips from current mains out there? Because at this point, I'm about to shove him into the toy box and just play Ghostface.

The act of not engaging so the game cannot finish is something which can be done h3nce its classed as a hostage situation.
This is why hostage situations are bannable as per the game rules.
Yes no one needs to dc but let's be honest after 20+ mins of not being chased or someone stealthing from locker to locker you would either give up or dc out. The situation is the same and why I said its not about the op DCing its about the act itself.
They are engaging the game. As long as they are not AFK they are engaging
-
@bilaueta said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1470548#Comment_1470548
But it still wasn't intended to be that way.
Survivors should still be supposed to at least try to do the gens (the developers intended for it to be that way) if they refuse then there is no way for the game to end.
This isn't "trying to avoid the killer" kind of hiding, this is "let's see who dies first so I can get the hatch" or "let's just not do the objective" kind of hiding.
And of course there isn't going to be a timer for the gens to be done, that would be unfair.
The players are taking advantage of a mistake made by the devs in order to screw over someone else by avoiding the game from ever progessing. THAT IS THE DEFINITION OF TAKING A GAME HOSTAGE
Plus, you were the one who started telling people they were hypocrites the second they disagreed with you.
I guess we are both stupid anyways
I called someone a Hypocrite for saying its okay to do one thing but not another. Fair play though

If you take your head out your ass for 2 minutes to actually try and understand the whole concept I'd be happy to debate. But you are such a 'mad lad' there's no point at all. THE GAME IS DEVELOPED WHERE THERE IS NO TIME LIMIT TO DO A GENERATOR. GET IT IN YOUR HEAD. THE DEVELOPERS MADE IT THIS WAY. THE DEVELOPERS

Using your own logic here, the same can be said about slugging...the only difference is that the slugging game ends in 4 minutes. Not the timescale you want it to, but at least it will end.
This guy's game was held hostage for over an hour: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1459137
That is definitely not "works as intended."
This has nothing to do with the struggle phase
-
@twistedmonkey said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1470469#Comment_1470469
Its not about the OP dcing its about players not engaging in the game by means of doing the objective when a hostage situation occurs.
There's no timer on gens. So it's not a hostage situation. The games been developed this way. No one was asked or forced to DC. It's a choice
-
@catbeans said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1470488#Comment_1470488
Fair enough, but why are they allowed to hold the game hostage in the first place? Why should people be banned for what is a developers mistake?
I've tried to make this point numerous times but people just can't accept it as bleeding out had a timer but a match doesn't. It's frustrating trying to explain it to the people moaning so your best leaving it
-
@isilmerel said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1470461#Comment_1470461
The game will literally end within 4 minutes (max) if you get slugged and bleed out.
If the survivors refuse to work on the last gen and just hide, the game can go on indefinitely unless the killer finds them (who knows how long that can take against good hiders) or the killer DCs.
You may not like having to wait those few extra minutes for the match to end when you're slugged, but the game will definitely end. The only way for a game to end in a match where the killer can't find the survivors is for the killer to DC. This is the difference. One automatically ends the match, one relies on the killer DC-ing and losing all their bloodpoints at the survivors refusal to progress the game.
It's not killer bias, it's game mechanics understanding.
No the other doesn't.
Yiu have to do 5 gens to open a gate. Just because survivors don't do it in a timescale is not holding the game hostage. That's entitlement at its finest
-
@twistedmonkey said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1470402#Comment_1470402
A Hostage situation by definition means the game will not end unless someone dc's. Its a very simple concept.
This is why when survivors hide as in the ops situation its considered holding the game hostage since they are not doing the objective.
If a killer has 3 gens close and refuses to chase and just hits and walks back prolonging the game for 20+ minutes that can also fall under the same bracket.
If a survivor is bleeding and they let it happen its not a hostage situation as the game ends within 4 minutes. While its considered being toxic its not a hostage situation.
Rather than DC. Face a wall. Get BPs. Game finishes. No one holds it hostage. The OP decided he couldn't take it so DCs

I think if you're literally the last survivor and the killer lets you bleed out for no reason (the killer could wait out DS and you're on your last minute of blood or the killer could wait for 1 survivor to bleed out so the other survivor can't get up with Unbreakable or escape via the hatch etc) even though the killer knows your location it can be considered griefing.
But you can't do that to poor old killers. They don't like things going against them
-

Did you just had a stroke?
I said that both of them are annoying, but only one can truly be banned because it effectively takes the game hostage.
Also, you telling off someone else's opinion because you think it is biased? Talk about hypocrisy
You first line there basically says it all.
-
@bilaueta said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1470402#Comment_1470402
It's still not the same. Lemme get it into your thick head
A killer can slug an entire team, but eventually they will die after a few minutes, you can check your phone while your entire team dies and you will at some point end the match.
However, if the survivors refuse to stop hiding, there is no end to it unless they get found. No endgame collapse timer, no crows if they exploit the pointing an locker animations. As the killer, you can't just sit down and wait, you have to either dc or spend years running around, wasting everyone's time, until someone either gets found or dc's.
And also, IT IS NOT OK TO EITHER THE LONG SLUGGING OR THE ENDLESS HIDING. But one is taking the game hostage while being an ######### and the other one is just being an #########
You litterly just tried to just if one then said its not okay. Your biased so your points invalid
