No one has any problem with alien.

About 2/3 of the internet sees fnaf and instantly think of the fan base and how game theory is trying to solve a mystery that can't be solved because the story changes completely with every game release so it can be milked for cash.

If I remember correctly, a lot of the FNaF community also dislikes game theory.

Really? Cause honestly the nightmare animatronics are imo the scariest looking ones in the series.

I think its more of the fact that Springtrap is an actual murderer, while the other ones are just spirits.

  • @Dreamnomad said:

I don't have a problem with any source as long as it fits in the game. FNaF does not meet that requirement. Slenderman would depend on the details.

Just curious, what about FNaF doesn't fit in DbD to you?

Stranger Things isn’t as popular with little kids, as far as I’m aware. But who knows. Maybe FNAF would be fine. When I hear about a franchise that’s popular with children, my mind just automatically goes to the angry Fortnite kids who try to mimic Ninja’s ragey personality. And I would hate for that to come to DBD lol. At least it doesn’t have open mic.

I know FNaF used to be popular with kids, but I have no clue if that's still the case today. FNaF has been a thing for quite some time, maybe some of them grew up? We'll never know, but I do have to say, I definitely agree that "Fortnite kids" would not be fun to deal with.

  • @Siberia said:

The map would be cool. I just wouldn’t look forward to the influx of ragey little kids since FNAF is so huge with them. Or maybe I’m just triggered from when Ninja started playing and brought over the Fortnite kids lol.

I mean, I didn't really notice any shift in the community when Stranger Things was announced, but I guess every community is different, so there isn't really a way to tell what can happen. Also, Ninja played DbD? I gotta check that out sometime. It seems like he'd have strong reactions to the game.

  • @DrPixel said:

he would be a good fit right?

Yes, he would fit. A lot of people come into contact with the smallest problem with a FNaF killer, and then just give up and say no. I get it if you don't want a FNaF killer out of your personal preference; That's perfectly fine. When people cheat FNaF out of it's potential, that's when I get pretty upset.

After the Meg gets unhooked, every survivor gets chased and downed, and one of them is hooked. 59 seconds later, DS still hits. How is this still considered an anti-tunnel perk?

The sad thing is that DS is SO CLOSE to being a well designed anti tunnel perk. Just reduce the timer from 40/50/60 to maybe 15/20/25, and just make it so the timer stops while in a chase and while down.

  • I'm under the unpopular opinion of "If it's horror, its okay". I wouldn't mind a chapter of just about any character, as long as it's done correctly, whether that be FNaF, Slenderman, or some sort of creepypasta. Hell, I made a gargantuan thread about why a FNaF chapter wouldn't be a bad idea: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/117521/why-a-fnaf-chapter-wouldnt-be-a-bad-idea#latest

But as MegaWaffle already said, some bug fixes first would be nice.

What game would you currently have been hooked on?

I probably wouldn't be hooked on something in particular, I'd probably just play my other games more (Smash Bros, Mario Marker 2, Splatoon 2, Gmod, etc.)

  • I sure am! Not only do we get a new character, we also get new Mii Costumes and balance patches, so there's definitely a lot to look forward to. In terms of who I think its going to be, my guess is that it's going to be a new character coming to ARMS and Smash

  • Same, I wanna know when I can play as my epic stabby boi

EDIT: Epic stabby boi WITH a cool skin

  • @Desh said:

The map in terms of layout and design is amazing, anyone who hasn't played PTB isn't used to it and are usually the ones complaining about how much it sucks.

Pyramid Head is fine and doesn't need a nerf, his power is clunky to use if anything with one of his perks being pretty useless to use. Tunneling Killers will tunnel regardless of what Killer they play.

Cheryl is a great character, all of her perks, especially Repressed Alliance, are pretty good with the exception of Soul Guard which is entirely situational. Supposedly there is extreme toxicity towards the Lisa Garland skin but I don't know about that nor have I seen it.

The only problem I've been seeing and experiencing is the multitude of bugs that have came with this chapter on both the new map and others. Unable to move a certain direction because of invisible objects in your path, unable to escape through hatches or destroy pallets because objects being too close or blocking the way, Forced Penance perk giving you a weird text and BP when you hit a Survivor doing a protection hit, etc.

But no, let's bash the Killer and map because we don't know how to play the new content yet. Remember the same thing happening when Chains of Hate came out? Look how long all that died down when people learned what to do.

I think it was rather that people set their expectations WAY too high for this chapter, and got disappointed when they weren't met. However, I am slightly disappointed, mainly since most of the perks are just meh, and the map could be a little better (gameplay wise). The killer itself, map aesthetics, and the survivor itself are all pretty cool.

  • I'm a person that will typically defend BHVR where ever I can, but honestly, this map is beyond unplayable.

The map has arguably one of the worst map flows in the entire game. Gens are ludicrously hard to find as survivor, and survivors are hard to find as killer. There are about -3 safe pallets on the entire map, but I guess that doesn't matter since the killer rarely finds you anyway. My least favorite map before this was the Stranger Things lab because of the same map flow issues, but it seems like its far worse in this map.

Some may argue that we need time to get used to the map. While that may help slightly, no amount of experience can compensate for bad design.

EDIT: These are my initial thoughts, I could change my opinion as time goes on, but as it stands currently, I think this map is very bad.

  • As of right now, this post has more upvotes than minutes since this post went up.

  • I think it's strictly for the fact that license holders want their characters to be portrayed as a whole, and not mixed up with other survivor parts. If I were to guess, this would strictly be for licensed characters only.

  • @JoeyBob said:

its like 50/50 that the person you down will be tormented, it if you ensure they are tormented as you chase youre often just wasting time. His secondary attack is also really easy to dodge and his ability to "instantly" send tormented survivors to the "hook" isnt reliable nor that powerful.

    He needs a buff.

    I would suggest two buffs

    1) Slightly/Moderately reduce the cooldown on his ranged attack.

    2) Allow him to pick which cage to send the survivor to, not just the farthest one. I actually have no clue if the cages spawn at the beginning of the game, or just when someone gets sent there, but the option to control where the survivor goes would still be a great buff overall.

NOTE: I'm aware that its a bit early to be making these calls, but this is just where my opinion stands as of right now.

  • @NateyBoi said:

In the game, the animatronics weren't seen moving. I think that would defeat the purpose of how fnaf is.

In the recent games, you see them move all of the time.

  • OH MY GOD THAT IS SOOOOO GOOD.

I love how in the menu music, you start to hear the DbD menu theme, then it transitions into the L4D menu theme. It's honestly fricking brilliant. The chase music is just as good, if not better. It starts dark, and omnious, but then as it gets closer, you can hear the choir notes, which are the same notes that you hear when you approach a witch in L4D. DAMN THIS IS SOOO GOOD.

This dude has created some legendary chase music. I'd highly recommend anyone to check his stuff out. Here are some of my other favorites from him:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKBzXlPCE9w https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qh0-Ox7JrSo

Anyway, before I get too off track. I definitely think BHVR should revisit the L4D chapter in some way. I was thinking about this earlier, and I thought that the best map would be the Finale Area in The Passing Chapter of L4D2. It's pretty big, but not too big. In the game, you have to fill up a generator with gas in order to escape. That specific gen could function as that map's special generator location, where one always appears (similar to the bathroom gen in "The Game".

As for a killer, I think its safe to say that common infected are out of the equation. Which leaves the 8 special infected: The Charger, The Hunter, The Spitter, The Jockey, The Tank, The Witch, The Boomer, and The Smoker.

I think the Jockey is out of the question for being too short, and not really having much of a DbD-applicable power.

Despite how cool his mori would be, The Hunter is most like out of the equation as well, since he looks too similar to the Legion, and doesn't really have a power outside of pouncing on survivors, and waiting for a teammate to rescue them. It theoretically could work, but it would be boring since the killer would just have to sit there with the survivor, until either they die/go down, or a teammate saves them. In my opinion, there are far better options.

The Boomer is literally The Plague, so that's almost a guaranteed no.

The Charger could work pretty well, but he's essentially a hillbilly clone (maybe a legendary skin for billy would be nice)

The Tank would be way too big (even though he'd be SUPER fun).

and The Smoker is kind of like the deathslinger (maybe a legendary skin for him would be possible)

Here are the options that I would consider probable:

The Spitter I feel could work pretty well. Her ability would have her spit out acid from a pretty far distance, and once it comes into contact with the ground, it would create a puddle, that would damage anyone within it. This could be really useful in shutting down some loops or something. In order to balance it out, it would need some sort of recharge time (like in the L4D versus mode).

However, the Witch would most likely be the pick to go with (and my personal pick too). Her power would have to be semi reworked from how it reworks in L4D, since in that game, her power solely lies on survivors provoking her. In DbD, my guess would be that it would be somewhat like the Oni, in the way that she'd have some sort of rage mode after something occurs. Perhaps, as she becomes agitated (through certain actions such as being pallet stunned, flashlight blinded, or going long periods in chases without a hit), it would fill up an "Agitation Gauge" of some sort. Once she becomes full agitated, her hits apply deep wounds, and she can break pallets and generators using her hands at a much quicker rate. This only issue I see to a power like this is that you dont want to punish survivors for doing good things, or else that might be hard to find counterplay to, but then again, this is just a concept.

I used to play L4D a TON back in the day (I have ~165 hrs on it), and when I picked up DbD in May 2018, to find out that it had Bill, I almost completely lost it. Bill is still my main to this day. I really hope BHVR considers finishing up the L4D chapter, because I, for one, would be ecstatic if it was one day completed.

So what I mean is don't make them super stereotypical/make their lore ALL about them being gay/lesbian. I don't mind gay characters hell I'm a gay trap myself and I wouldn't mind a femboy character bein added but like...I don't want the typical flamboyant gay man or the typical "My life was terrible because of my sexuality." gay or lesbian character. If you just added that the character had a same sex partner in the backstory or made their partner an important person in their lore great! Just please plan this correctly because at the moment it seems like pandering.

    This exactly.

I'd love the addition of a LGBTQ character, but don't have their sexuality be their main focus. That would ultimately undermine the purpose of an LGBT character to begin with. It would make something thats supposed to be inclusive stick out like a sore thumb.

  • I made a thread about this not too long ago. I used to be against the idea, but then I saw some really cool fan concepts for chase music for Sonic.exe:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qh0-Ox7JrSo

I know I'm in the minority for this opinion, but I actually wouldn't mind creepypastas in DbD. I'm not really advocating for a creepypasta by any means, but I wouldn't be mad at the addition of one. I feel like (as you said) legendary skins would be the optimal route for this though, as there are plenty of other characters that are more deserving of a full character slot. It's a shame that a lot of them aren't well written, otherwise I would totally want one in.

    EDIT: Clarification stuff

If you don't care, it won't affect your enjoyment. We have heterosexual relationships shoved down our throats already and I didn't see you complain. Blatant pandering to heterosexuals is everywhere.

Not to be rude or anything, but where are you seeing heterosexual relationships in this game? The only one I can think of is Julie and Frank, and maybe The Nurse and The Wraith (but idk if thats one's confirmed).

  • Oh whoops, I didn't mean to come off like that, my bad. I'll fix it once I can think of some better wording.

  • I should start off by saying two things: First off, I'm am a straight male, and I have no experience with the LGBT community. Secondly, I believe that all sexualities are perfectly 100% acceptable. It is perfectly okay to like whoever you want, and under no circumstances should you be discriminated against for who you like.

I may sound like a broken record here (since many people have also said this), but I am perfectly okay with the addition of LGBT characters into the game. On the other hand, I kind of preferred the way that BHVR was handling it before (just leaving it up to the player's imagination), since in my opinion, leaving anything to the player's imagination helps them connect to the characters more (Just to note: this isn't exclusive to sexuality). Ultimately, it's something that won't affect me too much since I tend to only vaguely follow the lore of characters.

However, I feel like this is a case of Forced Diversity vs. Natural Diversity, and that's what is making people a little bit concerned. As I already said, I am perfectly okay with the addition of LGBTQ characters, but I also want to make sure that these new characters bring more to the table other than just being LGBTQ.

Remember the "All female heroes" scene from Avengers: Endgame? A lot of people criticized that for being strictly for PR, and not actually progressing the plot in anyway. The same thing sort of worries me here. I don't want another case of "this is here strictly for diversity purposes". A character's sexuality should be a characteristic, not their entire character.

My point is, LGBTQ people are just like anyone else, and I am perfectly okay with more LGBTQ characters in the game. However, if more were to be added, they should be represented as more than vessels of their sexuality. Otherwise, it would seem like forced diversity.

    EDIT: Cleared up some wording

  • As a person who plays a lot of SWF, I still equip tons of niche aura perks, mainly because they provide precise feedback about where my teammates (or other things) are. I don't believe that there is really any perk that is completely negated by SWF. Sure, SWF communication can grant a lot of benefits, but claiming that SWF gives survivors "free perks" just doesn't add up to me.

  • @ManyAchievables said:

Mine is personally Distortion. I love this perk because it reveals some of the most popular Killer perks in the game to you, and even though there's only 3 tokens, you still know they exist and are aware and can counter them.

    What about you?

    Aftercare

I think its mad slept on.

Oh so I guess hacking is allowed then and no one cares? Nice..

It's not that no one cares about hackers, its that you didn't elaborate at all.

What hackers are you referring to? Killers? Survivors? In what ways were they hacking? Was there something that prompted this post? Is it a consistent problem for you?

Call me lucky, but in my ~650 hours of DbD, I've only encountered maybe one person, who I can say was hacking, and even then, I'm pretty sure it was a glitch rather than a hack.

i actually got really bored yesterday and decided to think on what i think Springtrap would be like and i came up with a very similar idea. an eerily similar idea

anyway i posted it here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/159525/springtrap-concept

I'm just putting a comment here to remind myself to check this out later.

  • My most wanted original chapter is probably a maritime killer of some sorts. Either a deep sea diver or a pirate of some sorts.

My most wanted licensed characters are a tie, between Springtrap from Five Nights at Freddy's and Clementine from Telltales' The Walking Dead Game. That's not saying I wouldn't be happy at other licensed characters, but those are just my top picks.

  • This game is almost flawless in my opinion.

Sure, there are some weird bugs and hitbox things that occasionally occur, but for the most part, it's a really well made game, and I feel like a lot of people don't give it credit for that.

  • I feel like that would be good in theory, but then terrible in practice. Since each mode is different from one another, certain perks/characters/addons/builds might be good in one mode, but then terrible in another. It would kind of throw off the balance of the game.

    For Survivor:

Who do you die against the most? Who actually makes you nervous to go against?

    For killer:

Who do you see in lobby and think "damn... this is gonna be a hard game"?

    Me:

Myers and P3 Quentin. Myers just makes me feel REALLY nervous, I can handle any killer, but I'm really dumb against him, he's the reason I run Spinechill... And about Quentin... Who TH uses Quentin? A P3 Quentin is usually the best survivor in my experience.

Pizza Dwights, and its not even close.

Most of them are in a swf, and will just completely wipe the floor with me.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1333380#Comment_1333380

And I think you're giving it too much credit. From what I recall, it put people off horror games by having just the worst fanbase and essentially being a puzzle game with jumpscares.

I don't think its a stretch to say the series has sold millions of games, has gotten almost a billion YT views, and was the center of gaming as a whole from late 2014 to mid 2015. Additionally, its still very popular today. FNaF: VR topped the sales charts for VR games in May 2019, despite only being out for 3 DAYS at that point.

If it wasn't for FNaF getting me into horror, I wouldn't have ever have played DbD. My point is, the series has definitely had a lasting impact, and to say that it didn't do more good than harm is, in my opinion, foolish.

    EDIT: Clarification stuff

  • Yes it is fan art. I was looking for a more stylized version since that would most likely be how it would be portrayed/remastered in DbD, should it be added. However, it seems like Theetis found a much better and more accurate picture, that does come from official artwork. I would recommend looking at that one instead.

The bunny mascot is from silent hill and has always been regarded as a freaky character. The elephant suit is also once again more creepy than flat out horror.

Theres literally nothing scary about him

This is an example of something that IS scary, and definitely could fit within DbD.

  • @Every1poops said:

I hate that people don't FNAF the credit it deserves. It was actually really important in putting horror back on the map and introduced a whole new generation to horror with a very simple concept.

DBD isn't a horror game it's a horror themed game. A FNAF chapter would fit right in, and to be honest fits in better than a Silent Hill chapter (which i'm very excited for btw)

Whether people like it or not FNAF will become iconic in the world of horror.

This exactly. People give it far less credit than it deserves.

I totally get why some people don’t want a FNaF chapter, and that’s totally okay if you feel that way. What isn’t okay is when people make “arguments” that are objectively flawed or incorrect, and use that to hide their opinion.

If you don’t want it, that’s okay. I can respect that. Just don’t state some BS to try and shortchange FNaF out of what it has accomplished, or what it can/can’t do.

  • I feel like Five Night’s at Freddy’s gets an unjustified terrible reputation. People claim that the game is made for 10-year olds, meanwhile these same 10-year olds also play DbD.

I’ve always been under the impression that a Five Nights at Freddy’s chapter could be legendary. Admittedly, I am somewhat biased here because I have always loved the series. It’s didn’t earn the title, “The King of Indie Horror” for nothing. I feel like people who trash the idea of a FNaF chapter typically try to back up the weakest arguments, which is just opinions and bias hidden in disguise.

Thankfully, I’ve made a forum post a long time ago that attacks the common criticisms of a FNaF chapter. It’s not 100% complete yet, but it’s still worth sharing: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/117521/why-a-fnaf-chapter-wouldnt-be-a-bad-idea#latest

Most creepypastas are not well written.

Go back to some of the few that you've mentioned, Jeff especially, and read their stories. Most of it is over dramatic, edgy garage that got popular through pure exposure, rather than good writing.

In essence, they are not good horror icons. And I think them being added to dbd would be incredible forced.

That's a fair argument. I guess it ultimately depends on what you, as a player, value. I personally don't find a new character's lore (or any character-specific lore) as interesting as the gameplay or atmosphere they have, so that's most likely why I would be more okay with it.

But again, that is a completely valid and understandable argument.

  • Clementine from Telltale's The Walking Dead

  • As someone who's never played silent hill, I can say that Pyramid Head more than deserves to be in DbD. He's from arguably one of the the most popular and well-received horror games ever, and is the "Jason" of videogames.

I get if you don't want him in, and that's fine if so, but moaning on the forums doesn't exactly encourage the devs to get future licenses, especially licenses of this caliber.

Essentially what I'm trying to say is: Pyramid Head definitely earned his spot in DbD, and if you don't like it, that's perfectly okay, and I respect your opinion, but instead of belittling the decision on the forums, just be happy for those who wanted him in (which, from what I've seen, is a MASSIVE group of people).

  • I was literally just thinking about this. No combination of words in the English language can describe how much I want to play as Coach.

  • I've only vaguely heard stuff about silent hill, but this is SUPER cool. I think you atleast have to give it credit where credit is due. This is the "Jason" of videogame horror.

  • Who? Does this character originate from something that I'm not aware of?

1 … 4 5 6 7 8 … 15
