My only question is why there are so many babies who complain about people complaining... No one is forcing you to read the posts or comment on them. Move on.
Its like the majority of this community has a problem with "moving on" in game and in the forums. Face camped? Move on to the next match. DSed a few times? Move on to the next match.
Had a bunch of bad matches in a row - just start playing a differing GD game! (And when you do stop playing DBD, make sure to post a "I'm quitting DBD" post on here, because we all love those too.)

LUL, dribbling isn't and will never be toxic behavior. Nice try tho. If you don't wanna get dribbled just don't equip DS, ez fix.
I've never once equipped DS, and still have gotten dribbled. The killer doesn't know what perks you are running, so "don't run DS" isn't exactly a fix, unless you plan on msging the killer a head of time, "Hey, I'm not running DS, so no need to dribble me, kind sir."

Can someone explain me why a deranking SWF bullying low ranks killers, employing quickswitches, tbaggs, flashlights, DS unbreakable and all that stuff is toxic in a good way such that people find it funny and enjoy/support this playstyle.Who said it was funny/enjoy/support? This makes me angrier than killer toxicity, because killer toxicity usually results in the killer "losing", so they pay for their mistake. Survivors are typically toxic and STILL escape and/or get a ton of BP.
But on the otherside, the killer employing strategies like camping and tunneling is called toxic in a bad way such that he destroys the fun, kills the game, gets deaththreads etc.
IMO camping or tunneling is NOT toxic. Simply patrolling or hanging out near your victim is a working strategy. Toxic behavior is slugging all 4 survivors, face-camping, dribbling, etc.

I think they should ditch the current rank system and just have 3 tiers, and you can't drop out of one. The r difference in "skill" between rank 20-15, 14-8, and 8-1 is not that much. I wouldn't match groups based on this, but I'd show it post game. So matches would be much more varied in skill, and if you get stomped or crushed you can decide for yourself if rank made a difference and how you'll feel about that win or loss.
I *might* try to figure out a handicap system for miss matched tiers in the game, but not sure how that would work. -
is the FPS an issue on PS4Pro too?
-
@DeadByFlashlight counterpoint: if the ranking system didn't have some merrit or effectiveness, you wouldn't need to derank. You derank to face less effective survivors, end of story. There is no other reason.
side topic: Everyone complains so much that Billy/Nurse are "the only tier one killerz" if that were actually the case you should be able to derank from the uppers simply by using Freddy. -

You are playing the wrong game if you are searching for competitive matchesThis isn't some participation award, sing-song, lets be friends game. Its not against robots. Its designed 100% with the intention of being competitive player vs players. I think YOU are playing the wrong game, because you can't handle the competition. Its the competition that makes this game fun, otherwise they could just make a "generator repair simulator" and leave the killer out completely.
Its not fault your fault the ranking system is bogus, so I don't necessarily blame you for deranking. The ranking system is broken and you are getting to a higher level of skill than you actually are, since when you derank you feel like you get better games. (Although, if "better games" means you are going from fewer kills to 3k or 4k a match, then again, you're just picking on new players.)
Its the way you're deranking by making it OBVIOUSLY a thrown a match. This feels like a waste of time for everyone, and thats my problem. Not that you derank, its that you waste our time. Just play crappy. Lose the chase, play dumb, etc. Waste more of your time, than mine, since you're the one not playing the game the way its meant.
-
There should only be the dream world when you are vs freddy. If you're fighting freddy, YOU ARE ALREADY ASLEEP. Its a stupid mechanic, and not much fun to play on either side IMO. They could make him so much more interesting than this.
-
The problem is really more complicated than just "do gens" though. Doing gens is fine, but its again boring if we have no threat from the killer because he's sitting on one hooked survivor.
Then there is the BP problem. So killer hooks one dude, the other survivors pop all 5 gens and leave.... everyone gets minimal BP. And the poor sap on the hook got maybe a 1k of bp because he (thankfully) struggled and had the most boring time.
Again, its IMO a problem with this game not having a well defined win condition. Lately, I've been more interested in BP, but certainly when I started it was about ME surviving. The game is unbalanced in more ways than just killer vs survivor.
-
I don't have a problem with campers, its just boring. I think the devs should figure out a way to embrace the strategy and give survivors something to do while on the hook (NOT SKILL CHECKS OR SMASHING BUTTONS). But, I dunno, even stupid emotes. I think you should be earning some BP while hanging on the hook, and not just during the struggle phase (which is super boring).
I liked one guys idea of giving hooked survivors an ability to wander around the map as a ghost.
-
@DeadByFlashlight I realize you're going to do what ever the hell you want here, but throwing games is frustrating. I have two kids, a full time job, and a number of other responsibilities. My free time is limited, so wasting it by not giving me a competitive match is a dick move.

Honestly, I dont give a ######### about your opinion about this.
I am a nice guy and even asked the survivors how they prefer it, afk or DC, survivors simply DC every game to derank.
Do you also ask the newbies you get to face at the lower ranks how they'd like to be stomped?

Thats only one side of the medal. Are you aware that you need killers to play the game?
Sure am! I'm also aware, we have killers now and SWF now... Whats your point? That if QoL changes get made for SWF that suddenly all the killers will stop playing? Give me a break Mr. Dramatic.

Team points while being hooked. That's a tough one. Maybe points when a gen is completed where that survivor repaired 25%.
To be clear, I don't mean "hanging around on the hook", I mean if you feel like you've had a great game and deserve you're share of the winnings you could not disconnect immediately upon being sacrificed and continue to earn some points. The idea being, you're sacrifice and contributions prior to being sacrificed contributed to the greater good and should thusly be rewarded.
Although, continuing to earn team points while being hooked would keep people from sacrificing themselves when they don't feel like their teammates are coming, and wouldn't make the game feel like such a ######### loss if they're hooked in a bad spot right away.
I have no idea how to balance that from sandbaggers or leaches.
-
@Peasant They sabotage their ranks so they can feel like they are winning, by playing against less effective players. Its not about "playing casual", its getting more frequent wins. End of story. If you "played casual" at higher ranks, you'd lose more, and drop rank. But its not about that, its about winning.
-
@Tsulan & @MegaWaffle I'd be curious to see a system where survivors earn BP as a team. A survivor who is dead, is awarded the "teams points" when they either A) disconnect from the game, or
the game is completed while they're hanging around. But this would encourage people to play more as a team, and have a clearer objective (get some survivors, do gens, etc), and not EVERYONE will try to go for the unhook. There is a benefit to helping the OTHER survivors survive.I'd also like the idea of giving the killer a portion of those points too, but I'm not sure how that would work.
-
So lots of similar responses for killer which is good. That win condition is probably pretty established.
I've gotten "constructive" feedback at the end of matches because I survived, and still may not have earned as many blood points. Like @MegaWaffle I'm probably doing gens while the other 3 fight over who can rescue who from the hook. If I weren't doing gens, we'd likely have ALL died.
I'm wondering if the awarding of BP could somehow be balanced on how many survivors actually survived. So, even if I died, but did 3 gens while my other members played ring-around-the-hooksie, I'd still get as many blood points as them. It just seems like to a lot of players, BP is the answer to winning, and I'd like it to be about surviving as a team.
For those that mentioned pipping, I'd be curious to cross referencing your posts to find out if you're also complaining about de-ranking and playing at high levels
(I've NEVER been concerned about pipping, so this idea is just totally foreign to me) -
@DeadByFlashlight said:
Yes, after SWF has been balanced, we can consider QoL changes like that
Granted, I don't know how the logic of DbD works, but as a software developer, I can tell you that its an incorrect idea to think that they have to do this AFTER balance changes. QoL stuff can be worked on while they are trying to figure out balance changes, because its HIGHLY likely they are not the same people, so its not a zero-sum situation.
-
@Tsulan 3k means that 3 survivors escaped? (I've always assumed k= killed)
-
Can you not find this out via another setting on XBox? on PS4, as long as they're not pretending to be offline or have certain privacy filters you can see in the "Currently Playing with". It doesn't tell you who is killer or survivors, but you can cross reference to figure it out.

This game isn't even a "competitive" game anyway, so be gone with the ranks and just play. Simple.
Agree 100%. They should just leave the ranks and don't factor them in when match making. That way the people who need an excuse for losing can blame rank, and feel all jolly happy when they stomp on lvl 20s.
I've never even noticed, do they a lot awards (BP?) for achieving certain ranks at end of season?
-
@Peasant said: In order for my games to become casual, I need to rank up enough to have competent allies while also staying low enough to avoid competent opponents
Translation: I don't want a real challenge which ever mode I'm in. You literally said you want incompetent killers when you are a survivor, and vice versa when you are the killer.
Look, you don't like high rank games because it gets hard and the game is unbalanced. Fine. I get it. But deranking so you can get your participation trophy isn't the answer. Letting the devs figure out how to balance the game and establishing a true win condition. They thusfar have NOT done that. Because its hard. I could write a lengthy post as to how I think the balance and win conditions, but its not my job. I have fun playing the game, and stop when I'm not.
The problem is, the ranking system is putting you at a higher skill level then you should be. It "got you gud", but you're not. That might be a balance issue, it might be a leveling issue.
-
SWF groups should stay together after the match, and should be able to browse the character menus while waiting for the long ass queue times. I'm sure its technical in nature, since SWF was added AFTER initial release and it was just patched in as best they could, but its very frustrating I can't look around and explore blood webs and items while we wait like solo queue.

If they made it so everyone could voice coms and not need to do backdoor things like PS4 group chat and other things on PC it woudl close the gap between SWF and the solo survivors who end up with them. They could then balance around that, hopefully improving the game.
I can't wait to chat with a bunch of 13 year olds. I've always found those conversations so lively and intelligent.
-
YES
-
I think we should get rid of gens, and killer weapons. Each player starts the game with a participation trophy, and they can chose who they want to hand it to it.
-
I think everyone auras should be revealed all the time. Survivors should also be in first person perspective, and have guns. And killers should have guns too. And we can pick up different guns as the game goes on, and who ever gets the most kills with those guns should win the match.
-

Excellent response! I even have problems with the hatch as a survivor. I can't tell you how many games that have just gone totally down hill, they've hooked 2, downed the 3rd and THEN go running around looking for me. At that point, I just run up to the killer and let myself die. Dude, the 4k ain't that important. Get over it, so we can just get into the next match. No ones getting a f*ing trophy on their mantel for this game.
-
What rank are you? What system?
-
Fun fact: SWF has been in for a while now and the player base has grown. Ya'll wasting your time complaining.
-
I have to imagine almost off this "survivors telling you how to play" is almost strictly on PC. Its the post and pre-game chat on PC that makes this awful. We suffer nearly none of this on PS4. I see nothing of good coming from having chats in this game. If anything, you should have a single option at the end of the game to tell specific players "Good game" or not, and give that person an extra 100 BP. This would remove some toxicity and encourage people to just let things go.

We should tell to the survs how to play them (no claudete prestige 3 ... no DS ... etc)Why would Claudette prestige 3 matter?

- They're a bell spamming Wraith
- They are frequently nodding
- They actually friend you in the lobby solely to tell you that they're farming.
- They take you to a generator and hit it.
Unless one of these things happens, assume they're out for blood.
I just tested this in 3 games... maybe ONE survivor understood the signals. The rest did all the gens, then t-bagged at the exit gate. Even though i was BLATANTLY not trying. I'm talking picking them, and dropping them next to gens, hitting it with my weapon (not even breaking), then picking them up until they wiggled free.
I did this MULTIPLE times, and it was crazy how many ran away.
The only thing on here I didn't do is message the lobby about farming. That leaves a bad taste in my mouth for some reason... maybe its a subtle concern about getting a ban.
-
I think the post game chat should just be pre-set with the option to send a "GG" or not, and award blood points for doing so. (Like gwent)
-
@Kilmeran But do you find yourself ranking up? When I made that same switch (to just play for fun and try ######### perks out and stuff), I tended to hover around 10. I don't see much toxicity, flashlight spamming, etc.
-
Freddy is high up because his abilities are annoying, and not fun to play against or as. Not that he is a particularly good killer. It feels just really RNG.
I can understand doctor being fun to play AS, but he's also one I don't find particularly enjoyable because I want to be stealthy (not running loops, and "out running" the killer - thats not how I think the game was meant to be played but evolved into that) and you can't be stealthy against Doc. He forces you into a different paradigm of play.
-
Also, many people on this forum stress the frustrations with playing at high ranks. I REALLY wish BHV would release some statistics about what % of players actually play that high. We're the exceptions here. We're a very small % of the community. Your average player is likely hovering in the teens and wins some games and looses some games. They don't optimize, and don't use voice coms and SWF much.
THIS is likely the reason why they aren't buffing or nerfing or doing all the ######### people on this forum are asking for. Simply put: For most players, everything is working out just fine and balanced.
-
If your theory is that survivors are "working together" and thus the killer needs to be stronger, then you misjudge almost every survivor in the game. The only way survivors could work together is to give them A LOT more information. People complain to high heavens about SWF groups using coms, and then compare that to the killer.
YES SWF groups are going to be WAY WAY more powerful to play against because they have 4 times as much information, especially if they've learned the maps. BUT, if you don't have SWF and coms then its basically every man for themselves.
I could buy giving killers more powers if you ALSO gave survivors better standard ways of communicating in the game. Not just bull ######### points and pulls or hook gymnastics. Let my character actually SCREAM on the hook "KILLER NEAR BY!" because thats whats going on in coms w/ SWF groups, and its (and i believe this) not how the game was designed, but its how it will forever be played since the adoption of SWF.
To be clear though, I don't WANT to need to use coms to win. I only want to do coms when playing with my 3 other friends who play this game. I don't want to need to do voice chat with randoms in order to play a good game because random people suck to talk to. I'm 36 years old, the LAST thing I want to do is be voice chatting with a 13 year old.
IMO make the game about survivor team work and that should INCLUDE communication, but SWF and voice coms shouldn't be needed. We need more in game tools.
Hell, even seeing the team mate load outs of perks would be helpful.
-
Who cares? If you have fun playing her, play her. If she's "not good" you won't pip as much and continue playing against survivors who are at that tier skill wise too.
-
@YamiTheFurry I also think that people get even more frustrated when licensed killers aren't high tier. People want to play as Freddy. I don't think people necessarily have a creepy nurse killer fantasy.
-
@YamiTheFurry I believe there should be an equal number of high tier, medium, and low. I actually think the difficult ranking of the killer should be the deciding factor, and it does seem like they only have a few marked as Hard and billy isn't one of them.
I think the reason for this is BHV bogus release schedule. Its FAR to lengthy. The worst thing BHV can do do is adjust a killer and instantly make a new meta where survivors feel a killer is suddenly OP, but they should be doing much more small adjustments over time to help strike the balance.
If they doubled the release timeline with bug fixes and balance changes I think we'd find a much happier community. I do not know the costs associated with that though, and I imagine Sony/Steam/MS may make it difficult for this to happen for a game of DbD size.
@Kilmeran Rank shouldn't really be an issue, and IMO it shouldn't even be visible or be much more obtuse. If you play the way you want, you'll pip or depip as your play style determines.
IMO players should lose pips way easier than they gain pips. That might make things balance out more. I have a feeling people get frustrated by the ranking system because the idea of "winning" in this game is so much different than others. Killers want 3+ kills, survivors just want to survive (especially at low levels). So when you have a string of "bad games" where you don't survivor or don't get many kills it suddenly feels you're playing at a rank you shouldn't be, which isn't necessarily the case.
-
Another thing to remember is that most of us on the forums aren't your average players. We're probably all relatively high rank (or could be), and thus understand the limitations and loadouts of the killers so we can play to them.
I would imagine for 80% of the players, they get stomped by Freddy, Cannibal and Wraith just as much as they do Nurse and Billy and find all the killers very challenging to play against. Unless the devs put in new objectives and give individual killers more variety in their load outs, then they will always have to have (and I agree with them) definitively low-tier killers.
-
I think Balancing for Skill video by Extra Credits is probably a good explanation.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EitZRLt2G3wThe killers are the weapons. They have super limited in how many abilities they can have (realistically only one), so if you make the skill gap too HIGH on all killers or too LOW on all killers, then it severely detracts from the amount of players you'll get. Skilled players will find it boring, and unskilled new players will find it too hard and frustrating.
So instead, they give us a series of killers with different levels of skill balance. New players can get some good carnage with some killers, but need to practice hard to get better at the others.
This could be fixed if they gave killers more load out options that actually change the killer's ability completely, or builds on it a meaningful way, but generally the addons just do minor tweaks to its standard ability.
-
@TheHourMan What do you want them to do?
The ONLY objective that survivors have is to do gens, cleanse totems (maybe) and exit. Anything else counter productive to the actual objective of the game. If you're playing to get blood points, then you're playing the wrong game, because thats not the objective of the game.
I can kind of understand your argument in the sense that playing Mario isn't only about finishing a level, but also collecting the coins. BUT if you collect the coins and STILL don't finish the level, you've failed.
Also, doing anything other than gens and escaping is a one-way-ticket to toxic/troll-ville. "Well, I've done a few gens and the exit gates are open, guess I'll go taunt the killer and get him to hit and hook me a few times." No thanks.
-
I wish you could spin the character too.
-
What is rubber banding, and why would your lag effect the killer? Killer is game host... Its the only ping I care about.
-
I had a baby this week, so not as much as I would have liked... ugh... kids... ruining everything from day 1
