  • Most survivors just cleans all totems anyway.  If they have a good map they know where they are all too.  Survivors shouldn't know about NOED until the end.  It's an end game perk that already rarely fires.
  • Agree 100%.  I was going to make a pist saying the same thing.  This is the new gold standard for maps that allow good variety of play styles
  • Could be lag. Had someone recently unhooked them - could still be under the effects of borrowed time, or it could have been a weird timing issue where they finished the heal RIGHT when you smacked them - thus going from healed to injured again but not downed.

  • Was this announced?  Halloween movie + Halloween seems petty likely.
  • Eveline said:
. I only mind when they dc, lag switch, keep hitting me while I'm on the hook or similar things.
I don't even mind if they keep hitting me.  Other survivors know I'm being camped and I don't need to do hook gymnastics.  (Plus, sometimes I view this as RPing.  I'll take a lot of "toxicity" and pass it off as killer business)
  • I think camping is a bit overblown and what most killers do is patrolling.  Survivors are going to try to unhook, so it only makes sense a killer will not go *that* far from the hook.

I think a perk that allows the killer to do major damage to generators or extends the duration of gate opening if they smack the control a bit while someone is hooked could encourage the killer to leave further away.
  • Lets ignore juking for the moment, because I don't think it adequately diverts the issue of allowing the survivors to feel like they have the upper hand on the killer. What NEW mechanics could be added to make survivors feel weak, but sneaky, that would actually be effective?

  • My preferred way of dealing with a chase would be to break line of site and find a hiding spot or way to double back. That sometimes works for me, depending on the map. Maybe the change to bloodlust will make this more effective, but it just seems like in most maps there aren't enough unique ways of doing this, so its far more effective to try stun/loop the killer. I'd really like to see more options to help the survivor disappear.

  • @Tsulan IMO, given the goal of the game (to emulate slasher movies) I don't believe juking is any better of a solution. It still creates the weird "ha ha can't catch me, killer" and takes the power away from the killer that looping does. The killer should be powerful, the survivors should feel weak and sneaky.

  • Get past rank 15 and it will go faster too.
  • @SovererignKing In @Wolf74 example, one is a person LITERALLY coming up and physically, giving me a physical gesture, and saying ######### you. The other is some random person LITERALLY hitting a key that makes a digital figure on the screen crouch multiple times in quick succession. One could metaphorically be given the idea that this person is pretending that they are dropping ones testicles, in quick succession, on their person. Where as I see it as the person gently kneeling over and over again in quick succession as a way to say "Good game, my fine fellow, I kneel to your skills in reverence, and wish that I could be as wise and magnificent as you!"

My point is - you are CHOOSING to let it bother you. In nearly every human interaction you will encounter, you have the CHOICE to let something bother you or not. This should not be one of them. Let it go.

(Although, again, stating the obvious differences, in your real life example, there is an actual physical harm that could come from said random crazy person who feels the need to randomly approach and assault you)

  • I usually stop and check the usual spots for totem because most players don't seem to be able to hit the skill check.  I also tap the gens after if I can t find it.
  • Don't most already-toxic players just read GG as Git Gud?
  • That's... That's real life though... I can tell the difference between the two...
  • I don't understand why people get so angry about "teabagging"...  I don't do it, and it doesn't bother me one bit when survivors do it to me.  If I'm in voice coms w/ a random, and they do it, I tell them to knock it off because I understand it make a some people lose their #########... But why?
  • The sheriff and deputy get killed right away in nearly every slasher movie... Don t put them thru it here too.

    How about Dr. Loomis?

I don't think we'll get a new game mode in version and any major changes to game mechanics will come in the form of DbD2. Im guessing that requires too much coding and adjustments to make it viable or we would have seen more signs of new game modes. Hopefully they keep putting out new chapters between then, and let current purchased killers and survivors carry over to DbD2 when that happens.

They can't make a DbD 2 without bending over backwards.

Firstly: they need to bring over all of the licensed characters. God knows how much that would cost to do.

Secondly: they need to compensate the people who bought the first game, bought all of the DLC, and grinded for all the stupid outfits.

Thirdly: it will split the community. Especially if they make a game that doesn't have the horrendous balance issues. Because if they did, then the entitled Survivor bitches will just stick to DbD 1. And if they just shut down the master servers for DbD 1 then that pisses off the hardcores as well. It's a damned if you do situation.

I think if they had the money to do it like Sony or Microsoft came to them and said "Here's 50 million to make a sequel EXCLUSIVE to our console and PC." They'd do it. They'd do it in a heartbeat.

    1) fair point, but shouldn't be a problem if they're making money and will on the second too.  They paid for them once, they can do it again.  We know nothing of the licensing, they may already have included that in the initial rights.

    2) they don't owe you any compensation.  Period.  You bought them for this game, you used this for this game, can continue using them for this game.  If you didnt think they're worth it for just this game ,then you shouldn't have bought them.

    3) so split the community.  Every game needs to make that decision eventually.  If it's a good game, everyone will buy it and transition over shortly after.  This is how it work.I
  • Freddy sucks because of the sleep and dreamworld crap.  Just think of a new powers and put everyone in the dreamworld the entire match.  Freddy doesn't put people to sleep.  If you're asleep youre already facing Freddy.  The sleep/invisible crap is what makes him both not but to play as or against.
  • I don't think we'll get a new game mode in version and any major changes to game mechanics will come in the form of DbD2. • At mid ranks, and higher, survivors make camping work effectively. They all want to be the hero and save the guy within seconds of them being on the hook. With the right killer perks you KNOW they're coming for the guy or have already started camping the hook themselves. If they don't give us a reason to leave the hook, then we won't. Most survivors establish their altruism pattern on the very first hook.

  • PS4-Pro. I don't experience dropped FPS much, but one thing I have noticed is that PS4 has the option of going into "rest mode", which leaves the game running in the background. This means that the games continue to run, and I have a concern that DbD may have a memory leak, because if I continue to play DbD over a period of days w/o actually closing it I experience more FPS drops, and jittery behavior throughout the game. Closing the game, and reopening it typically solves the problem.

  • He is a killer, but he plays with his victims in the movies. Where as I feel like most of the other killers, licensed or not, are in-it-to-win-it per say. Freddy just needs people to be afraid of him, so he can continue to exist. Killing doesn't need to happen for Freddy - its more of a bonus.

So my wish list for this would be just make EVERYONE in sleep state at the beginning and for the duration of the match, and ignore the "freddy is invisible" and puts people to sleep. He doesn't do that in the movies, it shouldn't be a thing here. If you're up against Freddy you are already asleep.

I think Freddy should be the "I'm afraid to do this Gen" killer. Because maybe the generator is fake, and causes a hit when you fail a skill check on it, and when its all done, it doesn't count. Maybe "fake freddys" or "fake survivors" can be seen walking around in the distance and just disappear. I want Freddy to be the real "Play with the survivors" killer, and the way I see that happening is by making them legit scared to Gens because you don't know where freddy is and what can hurt - not because you physically can't SEE freddy.

    Just my 2 cents.

  • Hah! I was just about to create a post titled "LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME DO!"

As an experiment I turned on pulbic messaging allowed in my PSN settings. After every game I get some sore loser messaging "######### CAMPER!" To which I very calmly respond, "Dude, if your suicidal teammates would even give me the time to LEAVE the hook, I wouldn't be there. But they CONSISTENTLY come back within seconds of me hooking someone. Go do generators, and let that hooked boy simmer a bit. But if you guys come back within seconds, even when I'm clearly still there, what did you think was going to happen? Don't make me camp."

  • When I first started playing, I had a good time with Freddy at low levels. That said, I have a feeling the survivors did NOT have as good of a time. I'm really don't find any of his mechanics as a killer or a survivor very fun to play with. With him being invisible, it just seems so random. I hear the kids singing, but unless I have a perk that will tell me the direction he is, its usually too late to do anything real meaningful as far as hiding.

  • @Peasant said:
Just start doing things. About 20-30 seconds of interactions will get them off of you.

Thanks. Thats probably why it felt so random. I'd start a gen... still swarm. Jump in a locker... still swarm. Run around... still swarm... then all of a sudden, they go.

  • Well put. Buff other killers AND give survivors some other resources. The response to being found by a killer shouldn't always be "Loop until MAYBE you can find an evasion point", because I'm certainly not going to NOT loop because you don't like it. I loop to survive - I'm a survivor - When the beat-boom-boom-pat-pat like that, ya'heard me? We comin' in this game like some survivor's. And we leavin' this game like some survivor's. So from now, until we dead and gone, we gon' be some survivors, ya heard me?

  • I think Freddy should be able to mess with people in dream realm. For example:
Masquerade: When a survivor is put to sleep, they see multiple other survivors but cannot easily determine which are real. They may see a survivor crossing the distance, but upon losing line of site or reaching them, the survivor disappears. They may also see a fake Freddy crossing the distance or chasing another survivor.

  • Pretty sure when ever i've entered a match in this situation i have fewer generators to do.

  • @Zarathos said:
I really like the second idea. Then again you could just have the character remain in the killers arms and have him able to hook them. This means the killers get his points and survivors get the time lost by that player.

If the survivor remains in the map after DCing, the killer will just put them down and take care of them last. I believe the killer gets a DC Bonus for DC survivors anyway, but it should IMO be the same as sacrificing.

  • Right. So you're strengthening my point in that they are useless and have no effect on on the game other than randomly, and there is no strategy in picking when to take one or not.

And great, we have perks for them, but IMO the offering slot could be come MUCH more interesting if it effectively allowed for a single use and less effective perk of some sort. Or layered on top of some of the lesser useful perks to make them viable.

My point is, I want them to matter and want them to be useful. I don't want it to be, "well, sure i guess i"ll play this offering because I have a dozen of them, no idea if it will matter or not."

  • This is great! I hope this gets made.

I'd also add that if a survivor has eyes on a doll, that survivor suffers a penalty while trying to do a gen. Even if the doll isn't currently possessed. It'd add stress, and encourage the survivor to have to take eyes off for a time.

My only other concern is a balancing issue with SWF groups. You could have 1 person doing gens, and then just put the other 3 on "look out duty" keeping any dolls from being able to move towards the players. Maybe something similar to what the Shape has where if a SURVIVOR focuses too much on a single doll, it gets some sort of leap attack or something.

  • @Master said:
The killer can swing through the window because he has an arm and the arm can reach through the window, just like in real life.

Comparing real life to this game isn't a good argument. Otherwise, you may as well make survivors downed and dead after one hit, and they can't be healed unless the player has the "emergency room MD perk" and "full staff of hospital resources to stabilize major trauma" perk.

Unless a dev comes out and says "we meant for people to be able to get hit after successfully vaulting through a window because 'windows and arms'", then its a false idea. My understanding of the game mechanics as designed was that windows and pallets were supposed to provide safe distance when used correctly. I agree with the original post - it seems like hit boxes are a bit off and I don't believe its always a lag issue.

  • I think a few things may help with this:
    1. Put a time severe time limit on when they can search for lobbys again.
    2. If they DC on the hook, or in the killers arms, for a period of time all other survivor who were not SWF with DCer actions are boosted a % in speed. This is due to the fact that the way the game was intended to be played, survivors are supposed to get some reprieve while the killer handles a survivor. If they DC right away, there is no carry, no struggle - its a bonus to the killer and a penalty to all that players team mates. This doesn't necessarily discourage DCing, but at least it helps make the game a bit more enjoyable for those remaining.

  • @MegMain98 said:
Or maybe add a feature where the killer cannot see the survivors name or profile similar to how survivors cannot see who the killer is or their name and profile until the end of the game.

I'm fairly certain on a PS4, if you go to the quick menu, game, "who i'm playing with" you will see the killer listed in that section if they have their settings to publicly show they are online.

  • You're asking for separate things though. On playstation you flat out CAN'T change your username on the system. On XBox you can for a fee. I'd be willing to place a bet that both Sony and MS have a terms of service for developers that specifically DOESN'T allow players to change their name in game for lots of reasons.

Set your online settings to display as offline when you don't want to be invited party chats.

  • @Master I didn't even realize you could use crystals for DLC characters... how much are they usually? (That said, I got the game through PS+ so I'd like to buy the DLC to give devs some cash)

  • You must be better than me then. I've had many matches where the killer camps and I'll do 3 gens solo, break totems, and open the gate and still not pip.

This only happens if you have a teammate who will stay on the hook and struggle, and not just DC. You get a considerable amount of points for just hammering that struggle button. Worth it.

  • Camping isn't a problem. Survivors behavior to it is - both those survivors who KNOW the killer is camping and try to save them anyway and the survivor who goes "Woop- camper, I'll just DC Now' because you don't give the other 3 survivors the time to do gens, so you don't punish the killer for camping.

  • I think the game has enough toxicity without giving people additional tools for it.

  • @MegaWaffle I like those ideas... they fuses are a bit much, but being able to find gas cans to fill up the generator instead of just tinkering on it would be great. All and all, I'd like to see both parties beefed up a bit so there could be more interaction. Like, lets be able to combine that gas can with a lighter and be able to hit the killer.

I really liked this game, but its getting very repetitive now.

I've said in other posts, I think survivors should have more defined roles depending on who you're playing, and take away all the 'teach-able' perks.

  • Also, when will people learn that CAMPING is not toxic. If someone is camping, go do gens. You, on the hook, just wait it out, hammer the struggle button (you do get a decent amount of blood points for this) and punish the killer for camping. Teammates - don't be stupid - see the camper and go do gens.

I don't think looping is really all that problematic either. Often times, its loop or die. If more maps had better places to hide, then we wouldn't have to loop. Or, as I state in my post above, there was a survivor who was supposed to be able to outmaneuver the killer more easily, then people could pick him and killers would have to make a decision.

  • What this game needs is more variety for the survivors. Killers - you're job is to kill. Each one is pretty different, and changes the dynamic of the match, but ultimately - Hook them survivors and kill them.

If every survivor at a certain rank wasn't effectively the SAME survivor, and you couldn't double up, it'd be a more interesting game for everyone involved. If Claudette was the best healer, Nea the best at distraction, Jake the best engineer, etc - then you'd get more variety in how the game is played. DS wouldn't be a problem if only ONE survivor actually had, and you knew who they were. Toolboxes, medkits, etc would actually matter if only cloudette could selfheal.

  • I like that map when I'm a survivor and usually as a killer, but if I happen to be playing the Nurse - I'll admit, I sometimes just disconnect - especially if I've already had a few rough games.

  • What benefit would this allow anyone other than toxicity?

  • How do you drop a carried survivor on PS4?

  • Different game modes is probably purely dependent on the player base going up. No one will be happy if they chose ranked play and can't find anyone to play with. They could do improve this by putting in "estimate game finding times" like Overwatch has (had?), that way you can chose to play in the more populated modes.

Its probably also a matter of time and money. Hopefully the new DLC gives them a good income injection. I got the base game free on PS+, but I've still thrown some money at them for DLC because I'm having fun, but I obviously have no idea how many other PS+ players have done the same. (Or if they get any money for being a PS+ game)

  • Is the killer able to actually tell who the obsession is in game PRIOR to hitting them and seeing their badge change shape?

  • I don't think Ruin is OP, but it certainly changes the dynamics of the match. When I realize its on, I don't even bother doing a gen unless I have a toolbox and a teammate. Otherwise, as soon as I see its on, I just spend the rest of the time looking for it.

Since they do effect the game so much, I don't think skillchecks should be necessary when it can sometimes be damn hard to find the things. But, I think if you cleanse it, the killer should be able to take just as much time as it takes to cleanse one, to relight another. This would give them the option to MOVE the totem if they don't like the initial placement, and doesn't totally defeat a perk slot if its found right away. The killer would need to make a choice, just like the survivors, if they want to take the time to re-light totems.
