  • But that's why your playing it... Why would dc if you didn't want a random character?

  • @Tragic_Johnson If one was going to quit if they didn't get the role they wanted, they wouldn't be entering random matches to begin with...

I think this mode would do a great deal to calm the toxicity. Its the 'casual' mode people want.

  • @arslaN said:

I've only seen survivors dc during loading to avoid moris, which is understandable tbh. Killers can easily dodge swf or flashlights.

How are they avoiding mori? How do they even know you have a mori?

  • Its pretty easy to go from level 20-15. Maybe by then, you should be ready to face the wrath of the de-rankers, but I think thats a huge a problem.

This is equally troubling for survivor and killers. Being a low level killer and just getting looped and dodged and flashlit constantly a few matches will turn off anyone from practicing killer, which is a set of players we really need more of.

IMO - the only time you should derank is at season reset (which should be less frequent IMO). Progression can be slower (which it seems to be since I took a few month break), but you can NOT progress down.

  • @Weck Thats exactly what I want.

  • I've typically always played survivor, but recently switched to playing killer when friends aren't online... What I found? Survivors - ya'll are terrible. There is literally no way to play that they won't complain about something when they die. Then, they'll stand at the exit tea-bagging and making you chase them out if they don't die, rather than just saying GG and moving on.

If i'm running to the hook to stop a save, I'm not going to pause and go "Wait... if I go after that guy, its tunelling, so I'll go try to find someone else"

No. I'm not thinking that, and for the record, I'm not thinking about tunneling either. I'm simply going after the survivor I see, who I can down.

As much as you want to win, so do I. Winning to me, and most killers, is getting as many kills as I can. If you want to play different, and go for blood points, or something - you do you.

As for camping, most killers patrol. And most do this because survivors are constantly trying to save.

To be honest, none of this would bother me if queue times weren't so incredibly long, and your average gamer could take a loss without taking it personally.

  • I think there has been a memory leak in the PS4 game for some time now and it gets worse with PS4 going into rest mode and not fully closing the game.

Try fully closing the game and loading it up again. Usually fixed the stuttering for me

  • @Master said:

Camping is actually a really bad and weak strategy. Once you stand 2 minutes afk in front of the hook, all gens should be done and the other 3 survivors should have an easy escape.

IN reality however, the entitled survivors throw themselves at the hook and crying about "noob strats" afterwards, but if you are using your brain (apparemtöly you've played games long enough to make logical conclusions), then you see that its the survivors who make this a viable strategy.

Now we can ask ourselves why that is the case. My answer to this is sad, but the devs have catered to survivors for so long (look this dlc for example) that they have been never forced to adapt and refuse to do so if they can get "camping fixed" for example by crying enough.
Thats why there is so much negative input if you request a "camp fix"

That is only the case in a SWF group though, or one where the hooked survivor just happens to have Kindred. A non-SWF group will almost ALWAYS spend too much time trying to figure out if the guy is being camped. And, for better or worse, most non-SWF groups don't want to just let some random guy die on the hook, so they do spend more time waiting to see if the killer will leave, or assume that the other survivor is doing generators. The hook gymnastics is not known to everyone, and a lot of players assume that it means "COME SAVE ME!"

A lot of issues with camping would be resolved if Kindred was removed as a perk and just part of the base kit. Would even the gap between solo and SWF. As the original OP appears to be running as a solo-queue survivor, camping is harder hit on him.

  • @The_Crusader said:

And whats with survivors who do escape wanting me to traverse across the entire map just to wave goodbye to them? They dont even tbag, they just need me to see them leave for some strange reason.

I believe the idea there is, at least when there are other survivors left, its non-SWF survivors trying to figure out if its safe to leave, or if they'll need to run back in to try to save someone. If the killer shows up, then that means they AREN'T chasing the other survivors, so its likely safe to leave.

But if other survivors have exited, then it makes no sense. You know the other exit gate is open, and they're likely clear.

5 hour?  That is not what Cremaster means ;)

@thekiller490490 My backlog has grown too much.  I'm probably a quarter of the way through God Of War, Moss, and just got Beat Saber.  All excellent games I need to beat.  I'd be tempted to jump back into Overwatch too if I feel like I need a competitive game.  (Although I have Destiny 2 and COD Blackops 3 as well)

@ModernFable I might be back.  I'll probably check the forums here and there to see if they've somehow found a solution to the bad playstyles.  What I realized is, the game was starting to feel a little addictive too.  LIke, I play, but I didn't feel _good_ when I played.  Thats when its time to quit.

    Oh, wait.

You do know REAL people play video games right? Disrespect is disrespect man. If you think just because you're playing a video game or on the Internet it's cool to blatantly disrespect people, you're part of the problem.

For a guy with the name Iceman, youre pretty hot headed .
  • My take:

    • Rank 1 is the lowest rank. Rank 100 is the highest.
    • You CANNOT derank or lose pips.
    • Make it harder to pip.
    • The lower your rank, the closer your "matching band" of rank. The higher you go, the wider your "matching band".
    • Your rank gets cut in half at end of season.

This way, when you aren't very good, you get ranked with not super good players at the lower ranks. As you get better, you start to get a wider birth of ranks, and start to filter in some players who might be a bit less skilled than you, but in general at least know how to play.

This would solve the problem of deranking on both sides, and offer a higher variety, yet still playable, skill levels at later ranks.

Your friend should a little proud really... juking well enough to get salt like that on the PS4 takes talent. I can't juke for #########.

It's not an entire wasted game for the person hooked.

    It's two minutes.

Then they jump into the next game.

Except if you are in a SWF group and need to wait for them to finish, and queue times can be stupid long. Hopefully that changes. Its also a waste of any offerings or items you brought.

  • I still maintain camping would be less of an issue if it just didn't feel like a fully wasted game for the survivor. I think at a minimum the idea that YOU the camped on the hook, get blood points for every generator done while on the hook is great.

It would encourage other survivors to leave them and do generators since its not a fully wasted game for the one being camped, and it has the added bonus of encouraging that survivor to wait it out and struggle, since it would mean more generator points for them. This would in turn, discourage camping, since camping killers would likely see more generators done and would need to stop this behavior.

  • Alert is amaze balls now.  Knowing where the killer is the best way to win the game.  If you know where he is, you can keep from getting hit or need all the other defensive perks.

I run alert, premonition, spinechill.  4th perk is a toss it but usually the one that helps find totems.. .Brain farting the name.

    Flashlight? Dodge

It's funny because they make fun of survivors and their made up rules, WHICH IS PERFECTLY FINE AND I UNDERSTAND IT, but every time they dodge for stuff like that they are playing with their own made up rules as well.

    Because it is unbalanced.
Why should I start a rigged game?
Survivor are already to strong and multiple toolboxes make gen rush just worth.
The new graphics will buff ninja-claudie, so why should I accept that?
The survivor made up rules are about balanced things they don't like.

It's not unbalanced.  At least the killer has an idea what he is up against.  Survivors don't know what killer, add-ons, mori, Franklin's demise...  Killers get way more information at the start of the game than the survivors do.
    1. Camping - It causes way too many posts on the forums. In game, its fine.
    2. SWF - My friends are terrible and I'm tired of saving their asses.
    3. Tunneling - I can't seem to find this magic tunnel out of the game. Is that where the hatch leads? I don't really have a problem with that tunnel...
    4. Hooks - I can't get a fish off a hook as easily as these survivors come off!
    5. Chests - WHY ON EARTH DOES THE ENTITY KEEP PUTTING THESE DAMN LOOT BOXES ALL OVER HIS DOMAIN?! WHY ARE YOU MAKING MY JOB HARDER?!
  • I don't have an issue with either per say... BUT I think NOED would be better if

I would like NOED better if the first hit ACTIVATED the exposed on everyone, but was not actually exposed PRIOR to the hit. Maybe we give the killer a boost here and they don't need to clean their weapon. But I don't like the fact that NOED is the only time a survivor is exposed, but doesn't know it. This has been discussed many times before though, so we don't need a re-hash of that.

I think decisive strike should be a secret offering, and not a perk. Similar to the "insta-down" offerings and addons that killer gets. But again, i think this has all been discussed before.

  • @Orion Of course, the minute I say, "I never get messaged" - I immediately get salty survivors calling me terrible and camping. I got 4k on a SWF group and they only managed 1 generator. A.) I had BBQ Chill so I would never camp, B.) If I was camping, they should have gotten at least 3 generators.

(PS4 player here, and rarely get post-game messages at all)

I'll give an example of how PC goes...

I've had my profile private for over 1000 hours of DbD playing time now, cause i got sick of the spamming of my message inbox.
I tried 2 days ago to give the community another chance.
Literally the 3rd match and i got UMFG CAMPAH on my profile.

No joke: If you play this game seriously, you'll get those daily.

That sucks. I can understand how that would get exhausting. Frankly, if someone dies in this game, I put all the blame on the survivors. Killer just doing the job killer was meant to do.

  • I mean, getting camped and tunneled isn't fun, but I don't fault the killers.  It's BHV fault for making it both viable and boring.  If it was quicker to get into another game and didn't feel like such a waste of time and items, it wouldn't really bother me

  • @Khalednazari said:
    Anti-stealth?

    • says hi from the bushes *

Making another anti-stealth (of which, the Doctor is really the only one IMO) killer is a poor choice. The problem is that killers feel like survivors should feel weak, and they don't, because looping and running after being found is pretty easy. The game should be about survivors hiding and evading killers, and them doing skills and cleverness to find them. Overtly eliminating stealth, like the Doctors powers, is a huge cause the imbalance in this game because he forces survivors to come out of hiding, and then run. So when survivors HAVE to run, they have to have an ability to be successful at it. Thus, the looping, the pallets, the windows, etc.

This game should be hide-and-seek, not tag.

  • You don't get any season end rewards for ranking up. This is casual already.

Find groups based on the highest rank survivor in the SWF.

Make it harder to pip, and then remove the ability to drop rank during seasons. That way, SWF groups with ######### team mates get punished when they play solo since they're crappy, and you won't have de-ranking hitsquads to mess with killers.

  • Assume NOED until proven otherwise. Bust the totems. And GTFO when the gates are open.

Harsh reality: The only reason to save your teammates is to assist in getting the gates open. Once the gates are open, GTFO. You don't get extra points for them surviving, and losing your escape points isn't worth the unhook points.

  • To summarize yet another "I don't understand this killer feature" - response from killers "BECAUSE SWF!"

Y'all need to get over SWF. Its here to stay, it won't be "balanced" ever. They're not going to change it.

To answer @aarongai original question though - The counter to Mori are instant heal medkits.

  • I mostly play survivor. I don't think NOED is an issue.

Cleanse totems. If the gates are open, GTFO of there. Stop trying to save everyone.

  • It could also be the actors didn't want people virtually murdering them all day long...

  • It means the killer is near by.

I'm not going to change that idea, but I'd rather it be the other way around. When I'm a killer, I'll get accused of camping (maybe it is) because I rightly assume that if I hook you, and you just start flapping, someone is near by trying to get the unhook. I'm usually right. If you just hang limp, I assume that no one is near by for you to signal, so I wonder off.

If the fully going up meant "I'm ready to be unhooked" then you could do it when you notice someone coming for you. If you go still, it meant the killer is back. This way the killer really shouldn't know whether or your signalling or not.

  • @Monstarella said:
Any other killers tired of the utter lack of balance, the poor development and overal bias this game has become.

Who am I kidding, this whole Killers forum is a support group. Its nonstop "boohoo, killers are unbalanced, I'm not having fun" whine fest. I think all the killers should just stop playing until they've gotten the balance they deserve!

  • So stop playing. This isn't a support group. There are other games.

  • While we're add it, can we add in 96 other survivors? Then maybe let them fight them each other? Lets remove the killers to. Oh F*it, lets just go play a battle royal game.

There are better ways to encourage survivors to leave after the exit gates are open. NOED for example is already in the game, and its really the primary intention.

You just start to have survivor life begin to drop and not be healed, putting them into injured and down states as it progresses. This also punishes them for being hit in the first place, and rewards the killer for making contact.

Or have auras of survivors start to be revealed at progressively larger radius.

Or progressively killer more speed to chase.

Or just make the exit gates slowly start to close again, and if they do, anyone left out is automatically considered hooked.

  • If they honestly think "content packs" are going to keep this alive for 4-5 years before they "think" about a DbD2, they are delusional. MAYBE they try to support both games for 4-5 years, but 4-5 years in game technology is FOREVER. DbD simply doesn't have the depth to sustain itself that long.

Given how we haven't seen a new game mode, or many major changes to the gameplay itself, nor dedicated servers... I get the sense that the underlying code in the engine just isn't that good (which isn't surprising given its "indie nature" at development), and likely not equipped to handle big changes.

My guess is that they've got a small team already designing DbD2, and it will be out within 2 years.

Don't get your hopes up to have cosmetics and purchased things transfer to DbD2. The gaming community has proven OVER and over again that they're willing to re-purchase those things. Frankly, you bought it for DbD1, you used them, you "got your moneys worth". If you don't think that, then maybe avoid buying clothes for your digital dolls next time.

  • I'm surprised by the people running Iron Will and so many "I've been hit" perks. Why not run perks that prevent you from getting hit in the first place?

  • Alert
    Premonition
    Empathy
    Spine Chill

My goal is to always know where the killer is. This seems to do the trick. I don't need running or healing perks, because I'm not getting hit. I sense the killer coming near me and I have plenty of time to hide.
