Ah, thats a really helpful response. Thanks.

I define "Tunneling" as "Intentionally going after the same survivor over and over, despite the other circumstances."
This is it exactly. Too many people mistake tunneling for "I keep making myself the obvious target".
-
I've been running non-optimal builds and killers lately. If I see a clear squad or a bunch of toolboxes I'm dodging because I frankly I want to have _some_ chance to do something. There are way more viable survivor builds than there are killer right now, so you really having m handicap yourself when playing off meta.

Ah, I see your point.
Well, the main issue here is that there are really BS builds like Jump Rope Freddy which are just 1000% annoying to go up against. I can understand his feelings, I sometimes just don't feel like playing against certain killers because it's either hopeless or just a damn slog.
In those cases it is better to just suicide/die on hook then move on to the next game or do something else.
I get that playing online entails a certain level of responsibility, but ultimately you are not in charge of other people's fun. It is just a quick 5 minute game online, with people you don't even know. There is no need to get so uptight about it. If the game is just bad I don't see a need to prolong your suffering.
It may seem similar to a baseball game with your friends, but to be honest we shouldn't apply the same logic to real world relationships to online anonymous relationships.
That's fair. I half agree.
But the games are short and queue times are not. If one could just "jump into a new game" like people say, is likely not care. But that's not the case. As killer on PS4 I can likely find another game quickly, but he damned the others to losing the game unfairly and they have to queue again.

Wow dude. Just wow.
Take a chill pill.
If the guy wants to loop the killer around let him. That is great for me. Here is the truth: It is impossible to finish gens and escape unless there is a good looper on your team. Either that or the killer you are fighting is a newb or just plain bad.
Against any decent killer you will never finish the gens unless somebody is able to distract the killer long enough for everyone else to finish. And that is never happening any other way than through running the killer around.
The game actually needs more people like him.
Thats not what he's saying at all:
"I just hate doing generators, so I usually get the killer's attention everytime to get a chase until he hooks me and I die on hook..."
In the scenario you're describing, the appropriate one, he does generators until the killer finds him, then loops him like crazy, hangs on the hook, struggles etc... AT A MINIMUM. That is how you give *the team* time to do generators.
Deliberately seeking out the killer (thus cutting the time the killer needs to search), then doing a chase (likely half assed, since he's "not having fun" and just wants it over), and then suicide on the hook as fast as possible (which may also effect his team because they may *leave their gen* to save him only to realize they got unfortunately matched with twerp and are now down a *team member*)
Then to come to the forums and effectively brag about this. Sorry. Dudes a dick.

Imagine telling people they should be forced to play a game they're not enjoying.
I'm not responsible for your fun bud. I very rarely DC, but if I'm having a miserable experience I ain't playin. If I want to have zero fun I'll study or work or clean the house. Gaming time = fun time.
This is a *team game* for survivors. If you are not going to participate, play a different game. You are partially responsible for their fun.
I imagine that most of the people with this attitude have never played a team game (or possibly any game?) in the real world, because they seem to have never built up any basic ideas of sportsmanship and teamsmanship.
Just imagine how this would play out in the real world, with any normal social situation. "Hey guys, that pitcher is really good - and its not fun to not get a hit, so I'm just not going to play anymore." "Oh, man, none of my starting Risk countries were in North America, so I'm just going to quit playing because its not fun." Those people quickly stop getting invited to play.
-
There are a large amount of people whom I just don't understand why they play this game.
Literally the whole point of this game is survivors try to do gens and escape, killers try to slow gens down and kill survivors.
Switch to killer if you don't like doing gens.
Everyone bitches about nurse, then spirit, now Freddy. Next it's going to be plague.
You just sounds like a whiny entitled child.
-
I think hatch should have some sort of press and hold to use, and remember me could effect that.
The press and hold wouldn't be as long as the gates, but not free either. Maybe it's only half way open and the killer can slam it down, or the survivor has to take like 4 seconds to finish opening it.

Considering how many people I've seen just today claiming 'I suicide against moris/specefic build/certain perks'! I can't believe I have to say this:
THROWING THE GAME IS JUST AS BAD AS DCING!
Hell, it could be WORSE, because while DCing punishes you for throwing your little temper tantrum, you're abusing a loophole to suicide whenever you want, without punishment.
DCing or Suiciding; you're throwing the game and screwing over 3 other Survivors. Not to mention dying the Killer points as well.
Stop being a child, put on your big boy pants, and either accept the bad matches along with the good, or go away & stop screwing over other players. You're not in the right. You're queuing for a match and then crying and rage-quitting, and screwing over 3 Survivors & 1 Killer with your little loophole.
Don't pretend this is about your 'right to a fun game' because you accept the chance of a loss every time you log in. You're just huffy that someone is using something YOU don't approve of, and flipping your table because you don't like it. You're ruining the fun for 4 other people.
And even if they won't admit it; EVERYONE who hook-suicides would DC if DCing was not bannable. They're just trying to put a nice face on it.
Grow up and stop wasting everyone's time with your petty ragequits, be they disconnects or hook-suicides. I'm flat out sick of watching people run away crying because they don't like Nurse, or they are crying because I used NoED, or I did a Hillbilly hail-mary run & hit them.
Grow the heck up, or don't play. Either way; stop ruining everyone else's fun.
Dude, you're like on a hot steak of complaint posts today... Doesn't seem like you're having much fun. Maybe take a break for a bit.
-
Could be they found a big they need to fix.
-
BBQ is fine. IMO they should just get rid of the bonus BP and make that STANDARD. Then its just a perk killers can chose to use or not. The BP is there to ENCOURAGE killers to use it, since it gets them away from the hook.
Its unfortunate that most of the counter-plays will NOT make BBQ effective at reducing camping. If you hop in a locker, I can either A) Have no idea where to go so will likely stay near by, or B) think you're within the meters and likely hang out longer. If you are across the map DO NOT HOP IN LOCKERS. Give the killer a reason to go WAY WAY far away from the hook.
Your BEST counterplay to BBQ is run one direction for a few seconds, then turn a different one. Especially if you aren't anywhere near the killer.
-
There is also a very audible noise when he uses a teleport. Even if you're not near one, you know to watch out, or hide. I think getting rid of the easy notification of the teleport would help make them more viable.

Annoying the killer regardless of rank seems to be just by looping them for a couple/all GENS, which results in face camping and tunneling.
This is fairly true. Its frustrating. If a game is over before I've gotten my start, then I say f-it and start to dink around.
You wasted my time enough with loops (I know... git gud), abused DS (IE flaunting it by not running away and making yourself the OBVIOUS target still), etc... The goal of my game changes. My idea of 'winning' changes. I'm not throwing salt, part of my fun of this game is making sure cocky players die on the hook. Hell, changing your own objective as killer is the variety-spice this game sometimes needs.
Bottom line though -
If you're constantly feeling like you're being tunneled its for two reasons:
A.) You keep doing something to piss of killers off to the point they don't care about the others escaping and just want to see you die.
B.) You're not very good at hiding, or chases. You're the wounded prey. Survival of the fittest is taking over.

Tbh Hawkins isn't exactly filled with bad pallets. Sure it probably has more bad pallets than good ones, but you can still make out decent loops here and there.
I run balanced landing for Hawkins whenever one of my friends feel like going there. Even if you can't tell when you're getting the map, the perk is still quite excellent for making loops where you normally can't without it.
And you make a good point here, "I run balanced landing for Hawkins whenever one of my friends feel like going there."
I think players, especially survivors, don't realize how much those 'You pick the maps' offerings can give them game winning strategies. If you know the map you're going to, you can pick perks that are beneficial to that.
Also, these 'unsafe pallet maps' are helping bring other perks to the light. You can't just run a killer forever, you _need to figure out a way to actually lose them_, so its helping balance the stealth with the chase.
-
I find this really hard to believe... I play killer on PS4, and I don't think I've ever noticed the same name twice in my games. What perks, character, and equipment are you bringing?
Also your fortnite test (which I don't play, so I don't fully understand it) sounds a bit BS...
I'm willing to bet, you're playing toxic and don't even really realize it.
-
I mostly play Freddy. I just wish he had a better end-game, since once all the generators are done he doesn't have the mobility he needs. Putting snares around the gates helps, but usually you can't get there in time anyway.
Would love it the entity allowed him to always teleport to generators covered with testicles. (you know what, I'm just going to ignore that autocorrect) This would give him the end-game pressure he needs.

You messed up that last statement. "It's all turning towards more money and invested consumers than a happy core playerbase."
Should be
"Happy core player base then money and invested consumers."
The forums are a super small percentage of players and we are not their core player base.
-
Is there a difference between DC and just using the menu to leave a game? Because I leave game pretty frequently as killer.
Survivors should just take it as a win, because I do it when I've clearly lost.
Sorry, I don't care. I main Freddy, and if 3 gens pop, on a big map, and I haven't hooked squat, I'm not wasting more time.
And frankly it's survivors fault for this attitude. I'd be more than happy to just wander around at this point and let you take the extra 2 minutes to pop the others, but they all feel like they then need to goad me into a chase, or cleanse all the totems, or (and most annoying of all) wait at the exit so I have to chase 3 of them out and then wait for the last guy to find the hatch...
Sorry, I have 2 kids, a job, and bills to play. What I like about this game is I can pick it up and play for 30-45 minute and put it down. My free time is too limited to waste in bad games.
-
I think it's interesting how survivors are complaining so much about spirit, but then when I chose to play a different killer, I get totally tea bagged and other toxic behavior. I don't really get triggered, but it's not fun feeling like you're just getting dunked on, so back to spirit we go.
One thing survivors could do to not see so much of spirit is not act like ashholes to those who try something different.

@TragicSolitude said:
I've died plenty of times from losing the rhythm. Or the joint in my thumb just didn't feel great that day.
A terrible mechanic. Just have players hold a button down like they do on gens.
Or don't force it at all. It's silly and letting yourself die is a benefit to the other survivors often. Your character should just struggle in the second phase automatically and the only way to die early is to DC and forfeit your BP.
-
Any killer that can't apply map pressure is done-zo. Thats whats separates Spirit, Billy, and Nurse. They can move fast on the bigger maps. Freddy and Demo are pretty good, but their power takes too long to refresh, too long to activate - survivors are miles away by the time he actually gets there with the power. (Its better as a "scare them to you" but don't actually teleport)
Trapper needs to have all his traps on the set, OR they should all be set at the start of the match. That way survivors aren't done with 2 gens by the time he actually SETS UP
Wraith should be totally invisible from a certain distance. Increase the length of his wailing bell, and make his movement speed while invis way faster.
I don't know how to fix clown... He needs a way to get across map or at least scare survivors into him from across the map. Maybe he can set up decoy clowns, or jack'n the boxes that put a terror radius elsewhere to scare survivors away from gens and into him.
Thats basically it though. Maps are too big, with too many loops, with too many palettes, for any killer that doesn't have mobility.

@Endstille said:
DS doesn't exactly counter tunneling as it determines tunneling in the most lazy way possible, a 60second timer on it. If you try to hook that survivor again, killer most probably will eat a stun. Not even mentioning lockers or accidental grabs over a pallet.
Sometimes killer down and hook another survivor, there was no tunneling and yet DS is active. The perk should have unlimited usage so doesn't matter after 1st or 2nd hook. I don't understand why the killer should be punished only once for tunneling, why not twice?
But it should also deactivate as soon as another survivor was hooked. Slugging should also stay as counterplay due to survivors picking same survivor + outfit.
This is especially true during end game, and you have a survivor on the hook. They all swarm the hook, taking turns being downed, and DSing you when you try to pick them up, or prevent them from just crawling away - sometimes through the gate if the hook is poorly placed.
-
I've said it once, I'll say it again:
DS SHOULD DEACTIVATE WHEN:
- You enter a locker (You would only do this if you felt like you had lost the killer, and now going to stealth away)
- Another survivor was hooked (If another survivor is hooked and YOU still got use DS you made a TERRIBLE save and deserve to die)
- You start working on a gen (You obviously feel safe enough that you're not being tunneled and have lost the killer)
- You are healed to full health. (You were not being tunneled if you were healed to full health, especially after insta-heals are changed).
If all of these instances were implemented, then I would be totally fine with the 60 second timer. If not, then that timer needs to be significantly shorter.
@humanbeing1704 said:
to be honest I don't know why people slug ds unless it's endgame hell just take it like most people do
I slug and leave. If you take it, YOU are the one taking time off. If you slug and leave, then thats a survivor who is not doing a gen, and possibly another who is leaving a gen to come heal them. If you stupidly take the DS then you're stunned, you have not delayed the survivors at all, and now are back into a chase.
-
He is likely standing over you waiting for it to go soon because you took advantage of the fact that you're immune for a a full 60 second and taking advantage of the fact that its broken. I'm so tired of hooking a guy near a gen, having them get unhooked and hopping on the gen in front of me. The perk can be for 60 seconds, but hoping in a locker, healing, doing a gen, etc but should cancel it.
If you're flaunting your DS, im going to make sure you die. I'm unconcerned about "winning". Winning to me just turned into watching you die.
-
Wow.
I've been seeing some weird skipping when I'm a killer and survivors seem to phase walk on me, but I've never seen anything like this.
Did she seem aware of how crazy she was moving?

I can't change my name on PS4, it's not like other platforms where there's a display name you can change an unlimited amount of times. I was just making the broader point But ultimately I don't see any compelling argument that could be made that justifies killer seeing the username of the four survivors in the lobby. I think it just encourages toxicity and problems.
You actually can change your PS4 username now.
-
I have yet to survive Hawkins as a survivor, or have survivors able to survive through the exit Gates on their own as a killer. Maybe you are encountering better survivors than me and my opponents, but it seems very killer sided to me.
-
It's all theoretical, and doesn't matter. Did you have fun? Congrats, you win.
If you can't have fun with out escaping or getting your 4k (your idea of winning) then I wish you the best enjoying this game long term.
I don't care about pips, I want at least 2-3k, but realistically nothing more, because the higher rank I go the more toxic survivors I find the game and the less fun I have. At a certain point it doesn't matter if I'm piping or killing, because it just want a good experience.

Usually the only times I call a killer sweaty is:
- Coming in with a Black Ward (usually meaning they're running some crazy adds ons that's about to make the game miserable for me)
- Slugging for a 4k, especially when there's still like 4 or 5 gens still up and we've barely got anything done. You've already won at that point. Just hook the person and search for hatch when it spawns. Unless you get crappy RNG, your faster speed basically assures that the killer reaches it first anyway.
- Running an Ebony Mori AND Ultra Rare add ons together (Iri heads, one shot clown bottle, etc)
I'd agree with that.
-
Just lobby dodge them.
-
I'm certain we will see a fix for this soon. It's so obviously a broken mechanic. I'm betting any thing other than running and vaulting will cancel the DS timer.

People know the thing is bad does not always means they are omniscient about the thing, it is just because they have eyes and brains
Heh. Chief.
Actually I know how to cook, so I could likely comment on how things should be made and taste. I also have been a software engineer for 12 years, working on major applications used by thousands of people at a time, rolled out new features live with zero delay or downtime... So I can also comment on this. I'm willing to bet you don't know Jack squat about how to manage such a thing. So maybe show a little respect to the devs who are trying to give you something that has been asked for years.
-
Placement on some of the older maps is terrible. I think they are reworking a number of maps so hopefully placement gets better.

Hey look, another person who is not a game engineers telling the game engineers what to do. BHVR doesn't come into your work and tell you how to hold the spatula, so why don't you just sit back and let them do their job too?

Out of curiosity, if you quit a "a while ago" why do you keept coming to these forums?

Mori after second hook would make the pointless, not even novel, they'd make them a literally bad for the killer to use.
If you're on second hook, then the game is likely in later stages. There is not time to sit thru a Mori animation. If you take away the animation I'm fine, then it's a "I don't need to drag your body to the hook quick kill". But otherwise it's likely NOT going to help, and possibly waste time. It also changes perspective, so you can't see where the other survivors who were like going to body block and all that ######### went once the animation started.

42 hours

Interacting with anything other than running, vaulting or pallets should disable it.
-
The balance could be fine if it wasn't so easy to rank up and down (survivors deranking to win more games). I'm not a great killer, I don't play top tier ones or get 4ks. Yet, I'm still ranking up and going against rank 4 and 5 (I'm 10) and clearly better survivors. The higher I go, the less fun it is as killer. Not because I'm losing, but because survivors have all the tools.

When I play survivor, yes. Killer (which is most time these days) no.

I don't... Which is why its wasted for them. I also don't want to waste time browsing the store either, especially since I'm not one to typically buy cosmetics. If queue times were shorter, and I knew I could get a few games in (vs 1) in my limited time, then maybe I'd take a quick gander at the store. But for my lifestyle, ain't nobody got time for that.
Now if while I waited, I could browse cosmetics of the killers/survivors respectively, I might do so, and actually find one I like.
-
Not a fan of Mori after the 2nd hook unless they remove the animation. In my typical game play, if I'm on the 3rd hook its major end game time, and I don't have time for that animation. Let me just snap their neck, and keep running for the next guy. That turns the mori basically into an end game play that avoids having to slug or carry people to the hook when time is of the essence.
-
I'd just like a simple compliment button. Quick GG, that even gives BP for doing it.
-
Fwiw, there benefit of swf isn't "swf" it's nice comms, which is entirely possible with out becoming official SWF. On PS4 for example, I get invited into the voice party is a swf pretty frequently but I'm not "in the swf".
-
My goodness how many times do we need to cover this. The devs had said it's a legit strategy, yet try to isolate it with perks, but kind of take two steps back for every step forward.
Make your choice is both an anti-camp and a camp perk. It promotes the exact thing a lot of survivor are complaining about here. You go just far enough away, but have to go right back after the unhook.
Just deal with it. I swear people on here are masochists. If you're not having fun, play something else for a while.
-
As noted, you can be in SWF without being friends. Also, SWF is a DbD convention, so I don't think it goes against any rulings of PSN. You still can't read their friends list.

Honestly, that is the shittiest idea ever. Moris shouldn't even be a thing, and bloodpoint offerings aren't secret, so you are lying.
Read. Blood points offerings aren't secret, and I wish they were too, because I've had survivors DC when they see that I use a bonus to sacrifice BP one or survivor soup. I don't even use those offerings anymore.
-
I'd also add, work up a bunch of blood points - like 500k, before playing killer. Then pump them all into one of the fairly good ones (Spirit, Hag, Billy, Freddy) so that you're not going in naked.
