I was Huntress and absolutely decimated them on Lerys - I felt really bad. Played a few more rounds of 4ks and then got Haddon field as Wraith, didn't camp and could barely find anyone and got 0k (lovely teabagging at the gate as a gift). Didn't enjoy it when winning or losing as I prefer team play and haven't played as killer since.
All I remember of my first survivor games was being scared, hiding and getting murdered. Frustrating when you first start.
-
When I first started this game I used stealth most of the time. The beginning wasn't fun for me as it often started with me being found early on and unable to lose the killer - this was 90% of my games and was very frustrating.
I made myself learn how to loop and the game became a much more enjoyable experience. If a killer is directly chasing me, how am I supposed to have a chance at losing them if I don't loop? There aren't many options for survivors, so they have to loop. If you can't catch a survivor, go for someone else.
Some killers find stealth boring, some find looping boring - there's no winning here.
-
It depends on the killer and situation. There are certain killers you want to avoid being anywhere near the basement. Then depending if the killer is very close then it's gonna be difficult to get out. If you can heal in time before they get come down it's a good tactic (especially if they're waiting at the top of the stairs).
If the killer is really far away or busy, in my opinion, it's better just to heal ASAP. Generally I Iike to heal/be healed after unhooking, unless killer is right there.
-
No matter how much you hate it, it is not a bannable offence. It's like saying that survivors shouldn't be allowed to unhook or take hits for each other. Yes it can be really scummy tactics (people who face camp/tunnel from the start) but they are just doing their objective.
-
Yeah I noticed that. On end screen click the pause or options button and then cycle along to match details - it shows you each player and which character they are. You can click on their name to get to their profile. Killer profile isn't there though.
-
The absolute worst for me are the DCers and people who work with the killer. These people just absolutely ruin (pun intended) the match for everyone involved and are basically cheating. All the other stuff is annoying but these people are just the Kings of Douchebaggery ๐ฃ
-
I must admit I have paid for some cosmetics, probably a bit more than I should have but not too much. I usually get shards to buy new survivors and get cosmetics with the rest. I think I've paid for 3 full cosmetic outfits (Steve's Scoops Ahoy, Nancy's winter outfit and Kate's bike outfit). Then I buy stuff with shards and mix and match outfits. I personally think some of the mix and match outfits are better than a lot of the full sets.
I do notice a lot of people with the original outfits though. But sometimes I'll be on a team with full cosmetics, it just depends.

so, maybe not a window, but an alternate escape route seems fair, like maybe a survivor only air-duct that takes a little longer to get through, maybe a 1 second pause when out to cough out the dust from crawling inside, but the basement is for sure a Killers only area
Maybe only 1 person can escape through it at a time so people can't hop in there all at once? And they can only get out using the air duct, can't get into basement using it.
Or even a 1 time use thing and then it gets stuck forever lol
-
I just like to play survivor, I prefer to play as a team rather than on my own.
I played killer for about 5 matches. First 4 I got all 4ks and felt really bad as they were all noobs (I was a noob myself but had watched let's plays so at least knew the basic mechanics). Then decided to play as Wraith on Haddonfield, didn't camp and could barely find anyone so they all got away (of course a survivor teabagged at the gate). Found it boring and have never played killer since ๐คทโโ๏ธ
I was also uncertain of my connection at the time so didn't wanna screw people with a laggy server.

Hopefully something
I'm sure you'll get there in the end :)

Maybe it could depend on the level? So after level 10 the stain isn't there as most players should be capable of countering it at that point?
-
I've never seen any of these, what would you recommend?

It sucks but from what I understand itโs only bannable if he held the match hostage. If you had teammates still in the match, then they would be the reason why he wasnโt holding the game hostage.
Devs should change their definition for holding the game hostage. It sucks for anyone to play like this except for the turd controlling the killer. There should be an action implemented that if a killer does this for more than two or three minutes, the survivor gets teleported to the other side of the map.
I like to body block only to let the fear and helplessness set in. Sometimes I get a nice little dance show from a Shirtless David so I may prolong it just a little longer. But for a whole match it just total douchebaggary.
Yes but the killer held the game hostage for that 1 person, so it's still bannable. It's not physically possible for the killer to hold the game hostage for ALL the survivors, they would all have to be trapped on the basement stairs or something... Or hacking to be involved.
In my opinion, what the OP said it's absolutely bannable as it stops that 1 person playing - definition of holding the game hostage.
-
It would be good as sometimes it does glitch and kills you. I'd add a button so you could stop struggling if you wanted.
-
@dilldophaggins Jack the Ripper would be fine but nothing recent. We don't even know Jack the Rippers identity so they could do anything with him. ๐
-
Emm... That's a no from me.
It would be incredibly disrespectful to the victims and it's just too real. Slasher and horror movies are different to documentaries or movies about real killers. Ethically it's wrong, and Behavior would get in SERIOUS trouble if they even suggested it.

One time I sat on hat h, pointing, t-bagging, and spinning around but Laurie was like, "No l! Much struggle, yes!" So Anna found me n I hit the big rip.
Sometimes they just aren't smart, in your position I mean. Not saying you are though.
They may have been salty and wanted you to save them though. Not everyone will kill themselves on hook.
I had a survivor who I had carried the entire round and saved multiple times. I got hooked for the first time and they refused to even try to save me and tea bagged the hatch. I admit, I button matched like crazy because I was annoyed. But 9/10 I kill on hook - I was just annoyed that day lol.
-
@Elk said:
Yeah it would be nice to know if you guys found hatch. Twerk or Point on the hatch can help us determine what to do next if we are on the hook. Instead of wondering if you are scared to go save us, found hatch or just being a jerk.
Exactly, it can also help the person who wants hatch as we're more likely to kill ourselves on hook and the killer is far less likely to catch them too!
-
It really depends because those survivors may not be doing it for that purpose. If they are, then they are douche bags, but they could be relatively new players or very sneakily doing gens without you noticing (I've done this but my noob team mate hid in a locker the whole time ๐ So that person would probably be in your category)
But I remember when I was still on the noob side but becoming a decent player, we were against a much higher level Trapper who was VERY good at patrolling gens and I was still too scared to be on a gen with the killer near by. I knew were the trap door was so I crouch walked around the map trying to find the other person. Found them eventually in the same state lol. I luckily found a purple key in a box and I led the other survivor to the hatch and we escaped. The killer probably thought what you were thinking the whole time ๐คทโโ๏ธ
I don't agree with the people who don't do gens though, I will just do a gen and if I die I die...

One of the ideas Iโve thrown out there in the past was to add in a timer system. My original idea was for a new game mode, but this could work as an alternate objective as well.
Basically, as the match progresses, dawn approaches. If survivors can make it till the sun is up, they survive! The killer though, he wants to make them โDead by Daylight!โ The sun takes and ridiculous amount of time to rise, but survivors can drastically speed it up by repairing crumbled sundial relics around the map (alternate objective!)
Oooh and then we can tie it in with an Until Dawn wendigo killer and Sam as survivor? ๐
-
@Shirokuro said:
It would be so easy to do as well. Just cut the existing model in half lmao
Yeah that would be a good idea, or make broken keys silver and other keys gold? ๐คทโโ๏ธ

I'm not saying it's not scummy. But a person asked earlier how swf would abuse it. This is how.
I wasn't saying or implying you weren't, just sharing my disgust at those sort of people lol

Except if there's 4 of them. And they rotate which one DC'S. The penalty will probably never touch them.
What kind of sad group of people would do that? ๐
I'm a survivor main and have never purposefully DC'd from a match - even once when the killer had over 2000 ping...
As other people have said, I'd prefer a vote to end the match rather than the killer getting to choose on their own.
It would be handy though - I once had an entire 3 man swf DC after about 30 secs into the match because their noob friend got hooked. Tried to get door but didn't let go of lever in time so killer grabbed and hooked me, losing my party streamers and rank ๐
-
I love Steve's Scoops Ahoy outfit with sunglasses instead of hat (that white hat gives you away so easily). I just love it, I bought it immediately lol.
I also like Katie's biker outfit and Nancy's outfit with the red jacket.
-
Sorry but I'm confused.. Are you talking about solo hook farmers?
-
Hmm, I've never purposefully DCd (only a couple of genuine lost connections) but the most DCs I've seen tend to be when:
The killer downs someone really early in the match.
Before a survivor gets hooked
Getting Noed at end of match
I think Ghostface, Wraith and Legion have the most survivor DCs from what I've seen.
-
๐คข Eww I hate people like this. As a survivor I will never understand why people act like this, they're basically rude little children who think they're tough.
I'm so glad we don't have chat on console. People have to go to your profile, make a group and then slowly type a message which means people usually don't bother.

No, this is more like an indication to let this go on without me as i am done being a punching bag and statistical padding. I keep getting stuck in teams that hook rush - without BT, cant do skillchecks to save their lives, hide in lockers, dont get totems, get the outside gens on one side first leaving the rest of us to do all on one side close together.
I use bond. I see it all.
This is just not fun anymore. Sorry. I really gotta think if i want to invest any more time into this cos solo surv game sucks ass
I've played this game solo for about 95% of the time and had to learn how to play differently. I used to be the first survivor found, who'd get tunnelled to death while my team mates were useless. I found it really hard to rank up and was terrible at looping.
My advice would be to practice looping if you haven't already, once you can get good at looping and successfully able to escape/hide from the killer it's a lot easier to be solo. Or try being immersed. I've stopped caring about rank and escaping a long time ago and I'm the better for it. Just try to have fun and not take it seriously as I know I actually played worse when I got annoyed.
I don't play as much as I used to but it does seem like killers get more kills than survivors escape, especially at low rank but it all depends (I'm usually purple rank or lower).
-
Solo survivor. I always play as a team because I know if we don't work together it's gonna be bad for all the survivors. Even if other survivors have been jerks I've helped/saved them and usually they've returned the favour.
If you get hooked with no perks to help you get off, you're screwed without your team. There's so much team work that is involved in progressing and escaping (excluding keys) so I am very much in favour of the teamwork.
Fair enough at the end of the match they don't want to risk getting killed but I usually go for it anyway.

Where's Ghostface? He and Freddy are joint number 1. Pig, Oni, and Hag come in close second.
Yeah, personally it's Ghostface and The Wraith for me. I find most of those players camp and tunnel so can get annoying, especially when you get multiple in a row.

Just played a match against freddy, he had all the best add ons and was red rank. Definitely didn't wanna dance around with this guy he ment business. But at the same time he face camped decently and i had borrowed time i rescued from the hook 4 times that match and he immediately down those survivors every time and i got hate messages from all 3 survivors, so what the hell is up what do i not know about?
As other people have said, you need to wake yourself up before unhooking someone with Freddie. You were basically hook farming survivors so I'm not surprised they weren't pleased. And remember if he hits you, you fall asleep again. So if he hits you before unhooking, BT won't work.

DBD isnt working on my console. I get nothing but the main acreen but it never loads. My game pass hasnt expired.
Try uninstalling the game and reinstalling again. I couldn't even open the game as I got an error message immediately, so reinstalled and it worked.
FYI this should be in the Technical Issues section

Kill animations.
That would be cool, like they have in Friday the 13th and you can pick a set of them. Would it just be a mori kill though? ๐ค

Medkit as I find it the most useful. I don't use self heal perks and sometimes your team won't heal you or you can't find anyone so it's incredibly useful. Nearly always bring a medkit.

Oooh a Scarecrow who can hide or take the place of other normal scarecrows on poles๐ฏ
*whispers* you'll never know if it's really him
-
I'd love an animal companion, that would be really cool but also hats and map cosmetics.
-
Jeff's smexy beard... That is all
-
Kind of breaking the rules here as I mainly play survivor but I always seem to have trouble with Megs who drop pallets on my face, leave me for dead etc.
And after I sacrifice myself so they can escape they teabag at the gate like a douche and then get killed anyway... Why Meg why? ๐ข
-
This would be immensely helpful for new players as this game throws you in the deep end quick. I know I was terrible when I first started and only after months of practice and watching people play on YouTube did I become slightly decent lol.
-
It's between Medic, Sneaky Snek and All-Rounder for me but I've gone with The Medic. The unlockable perks would mainly be health perks but I'd want:
We'll Make it
Solidarity
Inner Strength
And then probably a random perk of BT.
My Medkits would be superior to other roles or characters which I can keep or give to other players.
My main aim is to help my fellow survivors and my character would probably be Claudette but I'd prefer not to be forced to use specific characters.
-
Unfortunately I've not seen Nightgown Myers in action ๐ญ but I never even considered calling it something else.
Maybe I'll start calling him Pantsless Myers too ๐

Same
I used to play like 5+ games every day, but then I started to lose the motivation to come back and keep playing. As it is right now I might play a game or 2 every week.
I'm very similar but I'm on a bit of a hiatus at the minute and trying to get back into it again. I only tend to play this game late evening and nights but with work lately it's not been possible.
I'm also one of those people who won't bother playing if I only have an hour spare, I like to have at least a few hours in a gaming session.
-

I play pretty regularly, at least a few times a week. I also moderate for a couple of Twitch streamers who also play DBD daily, my son also plays daily - and we discuss things daily, plus working for BHVR and DBD in particular, my whole life pretty much revolves around the game in one way or another, and I wouldn't have it any different at this stage!
That sounds like the life! ๐ You most definitely live in the fog.

Once I get burned out of this game I enter a 1-3 month break. I'll still be on the forums but I won't be playing.
I do that quite often too. I'm really bad for playing almost everyday and then just stoping for like 3 months.
I'm regularly on forums too, it's fun and good to be up to date when I start playing again.

I consider win as pip for myself. Not really bothered by such thing as "team win". You probably should add "pip" option for poll.
Same, I don't really care as long as I pip. Safety pip is an okay match but pip is a win.
If I went into every game expecting to escape I'd take it far more seriously like I used to, but I learned to just have fun and enjoy it far more now.

Same here. That way Bloodwarden wont activate. NOED though, sorry, if I see that activate, I am gone. Not going to worry about unhooks or cleansing totems. At that point, I dont care.
As a killer, I will just open the gate myself if I am running Bloodwarden.
I'm one of those people who doesn't really mind if I die (to a certain extent), I'll happily die for another survivor as long as they weren't toxic af. So I'll at least try to look for Noed, especially if I have Small Game.
But if I can tell it's going to be difficult and we'll all end up dying anyway, I won't bother.

I could see that. I see NOED activate, I open and leave. I not taking the chance personally.
I only 99 the gate if someone is hooked or about to get hooked. I do think it's better just to open the gate though as often people will distract the killer not knowing a gate is 99 and end up dying for no reason.

Not really sure how its a counter to NOED. NOED still activates even if the gates are not open. Certainly is a good counter to Bloodwarden though.
I think they mean there's more time to cleanse NOED as the EGT won't have started yet, rather than an actual counter.
