Spine Chill isn't worth that perk slots when MOST stealth killers can be countered without this perk, cause they make noise.

Maybe if you are a not experienced player it can be really useful, but once you make it to the 2k hours (like me) you will notice it is a very bad perk, cause you can predict killers.

and btw why would I use spine chill when I have SWF (with comms) but well this is off-topic and is another reason why solos are underpowered.

You've just answered it for yourself. Not only are you SWF but you're not a stealth player, if you don't wanna use it, don't.

But plenty of people who are both those things use it. As a SOLO it helps immensely - along with Kindred and BT, which are the main 3 perks I use. It gives you a head start and warning so you're ready. Especially in indoor maps where it's very difficult to tell if a killer will turn around a corner at any moment. It also just makes me less... not stressed but on edge.

After a little hiatus from this game, I had a match against Billy and I didn't use Spine Chill. I heard him revving so I hid and guess what, he came directly from behind me at the edge of the map with my back to the wall. Downed me within about 10 seconds and that never would have happened if I had Spine Chill. Even had another survivor point at me on the hook instead of helping me because I got downed so quickly. Ironically, I was the best survivor at distracting and escaping him and had very long chases. He almost hit me in the same manner about 5 more times throughout the match because he always came from the opposite way I was looking. He wasn't able to do it again but there were some VERY close calls. Spine Chill would have helped immensely as he seemed to have extreme luck at finding me that match.

And before you say that I'm inexperienced or low level, I don't play as much as used to so I'm more of a casual player and usually in purple rank. Everyone makes mistakes, even good players, I make dumb mistakes all the time... But spine chill stops me literally running face first into the killer like I used to do.

Just to clarify, by "survivors Rank 15 and higher" did you mean ranks 15-20?

I'm trying to figure out what the issue is that you're addressing, and I'm guessing it's the topic of generators being too easy at lower (1-10) survivor ranks. I know Ruin Hex is a must have at that skill group, and many players are adept at hitting the Greater Skill Checks.

If this is what you meant, I think a great idea would be increasing the difficulty of skill checks at lower ranks -- by reducing the skill check size or increasing the speed.

No, it means rank 1 - 15. It can be confusing with 'high ranks' meaning small numbers lol

@Pirscher It would be nice to have another objective, yes. I'm assuming it would be like an add-on attached to you, rather than an item? So you could carry a medkit and a wrench - because if not, that's gonna be annoying af if Killers bring Franklin's Demise every match. Or if that was the case, you can take multiple wrenches from the same toolbox. If you know what I mean?

So basically have toolboxes with 1 wrench in each or all toolboxes are connected and anyone can take from it? Hope that makes sense.

Because I have a serious problem with you being in red ranks and watching someone die on the hook while you crawl around the corner, not on a gen, not in threat of anything, just sitting idly by like a crow on the map. That's why.

You're acting as if all stealth players are useless, Urban Evasioning around the map though?? It's simply not true. OP stated that they do all objectives while avoiding the killer, how is this bad exactly? You're talking about the (probably) new players who haven't learned when it's a good time to start sprinting or acting on an objective. Those people should not be in red rank. Yes, this person needs to learn how to at least do basic loops but that doesn't mean they are bad at the game?? 🧐

I like playing stealth and am very objective based but I don't Urban Evasion and crouch everywhere. I never leave someone on the hook and will run to the other side of the map if I have to. So do you have a serious problem with me being at red rank even though I like stealth?

At the end of the day survivors SHOULD use a mix of aggressive and stealth tactics. You can't group all stealth players together and say they're crap. They probably do a lot more than you realise.

I don’t see people putting words in my mouth as personal attacks, however I will spot them out and not let them slip by. However, likewise, it’s going nowhere.

And yet again I'm not going to let you put words in my mouth because you obviously haven't understood a single thing I've said. And you've seriously contradicted yourself.

This only became a problem because YOU made it a problem. Don't try and make me look like the bad guy when you're overreacting over nothing... I'm still confused as to why you're offended when I told you that people have killed themselves on hook in front of me?? Genuinely baffled. It had nothing to do with you, I could have replied to anyone else with that comment. I quite frankly wish I had because I wouldn't be writing this right now.

I'm not looking or replying to this thread or you again as this is one of the dumbest misunderstandings I've seen on this forum. Jesus. Bye forever.

“If I see nobody doing anything at all” If I see someone sprinting to unhook me it doesn’t follow that rule. You’re making it sound like I said I’ll kill myself on hook if someone is going to rescue me. Don’t put words in my mouth.

Apparently friendly discussions are personal attacks to you, weird? The irony is, I never implied you did this and was only talking about personal experience and now you're putting words into my mouth 🤣 nice one.

"I can't count how many times I've been on the way to the hook and stop to hide or cleanse a hex totem and they kill themselves on hook."

Did I say I encountered you doing this?? No, I didn't. I was just questioning you on what you considered 'doing nothing' was as you seemed to imply not doing gens as 'nothing'. In my situation I have to stop while on the way to the hook, I'm not sprinting to the hook as you're suggesting. And people killing themselves as I unhook them was a side note that had nothing to do with you. This literally happens to me all the time, when did I say YOU did?

Anyway, bye. This is going nowhere.

  • Hmm I've played this game solo for like 99% of the time but only recently started playing SWF duo and we don't speak on the mic. I'm basically playing solo with 1 person I know is (mostly) reliable and more altruistic. Your advantage would affect me, wouldn't it?

Of course it depends what the advantage is? So what sort of advantage are you suggesting against swf? Depending on the advantage it could:

    1. Hurt small swf teams and those that don't communicate.

    2. Random solos with a swf. Does the solo get disadvantaged too?

There's too many variables to consider without making it more unbalanced for certain players.

Unless you're talking about points etc. or a very small change like knowing which ones are swf. Then that's probably fine but would cause more lobby dodging 🤔

More cosmetic options would be great.

    Chainsaws for Hillbilly and Leatherface

    Hatchets for Huntress

    Flashlight beams for Survivor

Model replacements for flashlight, toolboxes and medkits when you bring them into trial as survivor

Beartrap sound replacement for Trapper would be cool. Various clicking or snapping sounds would be cool.

I'd love different colours for flashlights! Rave party lol

I disagree with you. If I see nobody on generators and they are all doing nothing at all, I will dip because I will die anyways. I’ll let someone else get hatch later on in the match and I’ll let the killer move on faster. I don’t see that as toxic.

What if I'm looking for sweet totems or literally hiding from the killer right in front of me and the rest of the team happen to be doing nothing. I can't count how many times I've been on the way to the hook and stop to hide or cleanse a hex totem and they kill themselves on hook.

Or I go for an unhook when the killer's at the other end of the map and they kill themselves in front of me...

  • I don't even play killer lol but this would be a nice idea. I'd love to see some different weapons and traps. Imagine a neon light chainsaw lmao

I know people have also suggested different cosmetics for hooks too which would be cool.

  • I know right? Thinking about it now it was really powerful, you got a free boost whenever you wanted. I wasn't involved in community forums or anything at the time so wasn't informed much but I know better than to do it now. Wouldn't do anything like that again.

  • Well it's been fixed now but the one where you'd crouch and hold sprint, then uncrouch and keep sprinting so it wouldn't use your Sprint Burst. Then you could let go of sprint mid chase and start sprinting again to use Sprint Burst. So basically you could strategically use Sprint Burst and not waste it.

  • Is this classed as a exploit though, remember the Sprint Burst exploit? Someone told me about it and I thought it was neat, so I used it as I thought it was a mechanic.

But later found out it was classed as an exploit and you could get reported for it. Had no idea at the time...

I don't mind (kind of) tunnelling and face camping, BUT, I do mind (a lot) the fact, that it completely denies my my game. I literally can't do anything. I get chased for X time, teammates are doing gens, trying to get killer's attention on themselves and killer just ignores them and keeps going after me until I die or somehow escape (no I don't teabag or flashlight click). Killer gets points no matter what (unless AFK), even without killing everyone, still gets points for chasing, hitting, kicking gens, pallets, hooking... even if all survivors escape, killer usually gets, at least, decent amount of points. And this is what I complain about when I play survivor. I'd like to get some BP bonus, when I get camped or tunnelled longer than certain amount of time or something like that. You know, I 'sacrificed' myself for the team, so okay, I can be face camped, I can be tunnelled, but if it happens for too long, give me some extra BP. Because I'll get my 8K for chasing, but that's it and I'm not gaining other points not because I hide in locker, but because my game is 'denied' for me.

I know what you're getting at. It's very frustrating to get removed from the match quickly. I used to get really frustrated at campers and tunnellers but I've just stopped caring. I don't care about my rank, I've improved my gameplay and if I die that round, I move onto the next. Since then my ability to rank up has greatly improved, I usually get at least 1 pip every match except for occasional noob matches where I make really dumb mistakes. I now have more fun playing and get less salty at the killer. I despise face campers though... I imagine them sitting behind their screens making sneering little faces 🤬

We have to remember at the end of the day both sides want to win. Most will do what they need to do to win - even if it feels cheap. If this happens to me I make it my job to distract the killer for as long as possible and hope my team can save me eventually 😊

I do agree that killers seriously affect how the game plays and how (un)fun it is. Survivors are the ones that can have their match ruined very quickly. This never happens to killers so a lot of them don't care 😒 And about killers getting more points - I agree to a certain extent. I think it's true at low ranks but when you get to purple/red ranks, killers can get a 4k and still barely get a black pip.

I'd love if we got more blood points for being camped. I've had matches were I was tunnelled and camped for the entire match then died as the gate opened. So for my (unwilling) sacrifice I got very little reward.

Sorry for super long comment, didn't realise how much I wrote 😯

why are legitimate strategies discredited by the game's systems?

🙃 Because in most situations, camping only works if survivors feed the camper and camping doesn't require a lot of work from the killer. That's why you don't gain as many points for camping as it isn't actually a 'good' strategy, it's just a strategy. I despise face campers but there's nothing anyone can do about it as it's part of the game...

I've never heard of tunnelling being discredited by the games system?? Tunnelling is killer trying to remove the weakest links to make it harder for the round to progress. I don't like tunnelling but it's part of the gameplay if the killer chooses it. There's nothing we can do about it but try to play smart and pick anti tunnel perks.

  • Survivor here. Camping and tunnelling are legitimate strategies so they shouldn't be punished. Yes they're annoying and can be unnecessary sometimes but killers gotta kill, just the same as survivors gen rush (gen rushing is not toxic, it's literally the objective) and juke killers.

  • I would love this but I'm thinking of a few problems.

    1. Performance issue - actually animating it and how well it would run/cause lag.

    2. Fitting on the map - I'm assuming it would be a giant spider, would this make it difficult to actually traverse the maps, as it will be quite wide? I'm talking about going around tight corners and inside, corridor maps. But I feel if they made the spider smaller it wouldn't be as scary.

It's a nice idea but I think it's unlikely to happen ☹️ unless it's humanoid spider.

  • Hmm, I like it as it is. It's mainly to stop the butt wiggles at the gate. I'm a survivor and hate em too, unless they are doing it to fellow survivors then I might join lol. But usually I'm straight out the exit unless someone needs help.

How long does it take to open exit gates? That would greatly affect it. Very specific example: if you were against a Trapper with both gates trapped which are close together, you're screwed if the EGC has already started after gens.

Sometimes you just need that extra bit of time before the gates are open. I know for a fact that if this had been implemented I would have been killed by the EGC a lot more. I think this would give too much free pressure for the killer, especially against new players.

  • That can be so annoying as it feels like you may as well just have a DC team mate. But I thought it was supposed to be the lowest rank would match with their own rank? Or is there still just problems?

I actually had a friend who randomly decided to join my game out of the blue having played very little, ages ago. So big time noob. I thought of myself as a patient person but my god is there a huge skill difference with new/casual players.

You take for granted that your team has your back and knows what to do. For example, he left me to fend for myself in the basement after unhooking me and hiding in a closet with the killer on the stairs, had to explain bodyblocking to him. I feel bad but I almost don't want to play with him as after he joined, all my matches were terrible. I was doing so well up until that point and it's hard to teach as we don't use mic.

To be fair this game is not kind to new players, I still learn new things about the game having played it for over a year.

It would be nice if they had a casual mode for random matches with any rank and then the normal ranked matches. It could cause problems with dividing the community and match making times though. Hopefully they sort out the match making again so it's more strict, I've been lucky with match making as of late.

  • As others have said there are many factors but the only reasons I ever do this:

    1. The killer is camping, I want to get the person off the hook using trusty BT and someone else happens to be there.

    2. Camping again but it needs to be a team effort to work (I have had matches where the 1 time I don't bring BT no one else does either).

    3. I am on a gen on the other side of the map and am waiting for someone to unhook them but its taking too long and they go to the 2nd phase. I feel bad so run all the way over and just as I get there another survivor crouch walks from behind a rock and steals my unhook, *cue angry face* 😡

To be honest I don't mind if I get traded or die, I just like helping the team. I've even saved survivors who've pointed at me in a locker while the killer was there 😅 the worst sort of team mate to save.

  • @EnviouSLAY said:

gen rushing is pretty frowned on as well; but most people call it gen rushing even if every survivor is on a gen solo and pops them.

Gen rushing shouldn't be considered wrong though, the whole objective of a survivor is to do the gens quickly and escape. The longer the match, the less likely you are to survive (unless its a very well played match and not a noob survivor). Yes this may annoy the killer but it means the survivors are working well as a team and doing pretty much the only objective they have.

The whole point of killer is to kill the survivors. Tunneling and camping aren't wrong either but it can sometimes come across as cheap tactics. Yes it's a legit strategy but if all you do is face camp every match, it doesn't exactly take much skill... you just stand there and wait till someone comes to you (I'm looking at you Leatherfacecamp extraordinaire lol).

I understand why people get frustrated but from a survivor point of view camping/tunneling often drastically changes 1 unfortunate survivors round. I used to get really annoyed about campers and tunnelers when I was a noob but now I stopped caring so much. Stopped caring about my rank, which ironically seemed to make me rank up better and just did my bit for the team.

Tunneling is in the survivors control it's called body blocking. If you were actually concerned about it the team would make a concerted effort to block the killer. But I guess it's asking too much to get off your gen lol.

Tunneling is not in the survivors control! Maybe in certain situations but at the end of the day, it's the killer who chooses to tunnel. If the killer is a hard core tunneller, survivors are gonna struggle (well at least 1 will).

Recently went against the most tunnel vision killer I've ever faced, on Hawkins Lab. He'd focus solely on 1 survivor until they were dead, even ignoring someone he literally just downed. I body blocked the hell out of him, threw pallets in his face, did all I could and the most he ever did was hit me once and then continue following the other person. At one point, the entire team swarmed around the hook to rescue this poor survivor and even though 3 of us were injured (he even downed someone next to hook), he STILL went after the unhooked who had fled to another room.

How exactly were we in control of that situation? That was all the killer. In fact, I wasted so much time trying to 'help' I think I single handedly caused the whole team to fail. If I had gen rushed instead of trying to body block we probably would have all escaped. I will NOT be making that mistake again!

It's clear to me if you get tunneled, it's your job is to make the killer work for it while the rest of the team are on gens. I'll help if I can but if the killer is going to those lengths the team will better off doing gens.

  • @hammertime said:

Just do what i do. Block all nonfriend player interaction. Then lower your rank by sitting in matches and not playing at all. Makes it easier to do challenges and you actually get to play against more fun survivors more of the time. If i play in a match where i can tell they are communicating together i instantly leave. This strategy pisses off those nasty 12 year olds and makes the game fun for me. I dont even care if this post pisses anyone off because im still going to do it because its fun. I dont even see what they send me because they are blocked. Its freaking awesome. Also, if i play against a troll i camp them on purpose and let everyone else go.

So let me get this straight... You DC if the survivors are better than you? AND you're bragging about it, wow now I've seen it all. Lmao toxicity breeds toxicity. Have fun when the DC bans start getting implemented 🤣

I have NEVER DCd on purpose, no matter how toxic or try hard the killer was.

It’s too luck based to do it alone. I’ve tried it several times, it’s not worth the amount of time you throw away as a SOLO. I would do what you did, these survivors would see me sabo the hooks and still run somewhere else to go down. You can be incredibly strategic about it ,which hooks, but even you nor I can fix stupid. There’s not enough tool box or time to compensate for it. Do it with one other person and you’ll see what I mean by for it to be effective. Bc the difference between solo sabo and duo or more is mind blowing

Yes, very true. I sometimes play SWF as a duo (no mic) and we've achieved the sabo hook a few times through pure situational luck. I usually just don't bother with sabotaging now, the most I will diverge from gens/unhooking is to get totems.

  • @HeroLives said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/905435#Comment_905435

How else do you sabo a hook without being a moron about it, of course I 99 The hooks. Even then there’s so many that if you’re doing it solo it’s almost pointless if the killer is any good, you’re not getting enough of them 99 in time alone for it to be useful. You need atleast 2 ppl doing it.

Wow okay. No need to be rude. You said it was useless to do without SWF but I've done it plenty of times so I assumed you were talking about a situation of trying to sabo a hook from beginning when someone gets picked up.

If I ever did sabo a hook, I'd usually do it by the gate for end game or next to a hook by a gen. I don't just randomly do hooks for the sake of it. It's not completely useless to do, you can get lucky.

Edit: looking back it wasn't that rude but came off as passive aggressive 😅 I'm just so done with this thread

  • @Peanits This thread is starting to get out of hand with the OP pretty much calling anyone who he disagrees with an idiot and can't read. Discussion is also just going nowhere. Personally I think it needs closed before it gets worse but do with it what you will. 👍

  • @Artyomich said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/905426#Comment_905426

And I'm talking about situations where survivors should know how effortless it is to try and stop a wiggle timer at zero because they should have long that damn timer is meaning I'm talking about awful situations where a lone survivor should never try to body block alone at the start and situations where it's a coordinated effort by the whole team and in extreme situations like at the exit gates is worth trying again that's basic common sense like the rest you don't know how to read.

As other people have started to notice, you don't like it when they disagree with you because apparently everything you say is fact. Again I will say, don't open a discussion if you're going to deny everything people are telling you. This thread quite frankly needs to be closed by a mod before it gets worse. I can feel the toxicity rising. Especially when you to tell everyone they can't read because they have a different opinion to you.

I will also say again that THEY CAN PLAY HOW THEY WANT. You can't tell them how to play. Maybe it's dumb of them to body block in those situations but it doesn't matter, it's a freaking game.

  • I'd probably just go for it and if the killer gets me then it was meant to be.

  • @HeroLives said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/905405#Comment_905405

most of the time not, only if you’re a 4 man and sabo some of the hooks in the area, otherwise it’s useless Bc all the hooks are so close together. You ever tried to sabo without atleast one other person helping? Absolutely pointless. Only viable in swf. You need a perk build for wiggling plus someone to take hits 99% of the time to get off the shoulder.

Have you never 99% saboed a hook? It's a very viable strategy. I've done it before but it wastes alot of time so I rarely do it.

  • @Artyomich said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/905405#Comment_905405

You're just giving needless pressure to the killer and make it hard for the whole team. You're not stopping anyone from getting hooked.

There's a clear difference between trying to body block a killer that's been a carrying a survivor a decent or long time than literally body blocking the killer AS SOON as he picks up a survivor.

The latter is just plain stupid.

I LITERALLY just told you I stopped someone from getting hooked by doing this. I saved him and we all escaped because he helped body block me at the end of that match when I'm the only one injured near the gate. I body blocked him as soon as he was picked up because I knew it was his last hook. The killer tried to swing at me 3 times and only hit me once AND we were very close to a hook. It does work.

Don't ask for people's opinions if you're just gonna deny everything they say. People can play how they want. What do the killers always say about camping? It's not toxic, it's a playstyle, play how you want. That's all there is to say. There doesn't need to be a huge explanation for this - they can play how they want to play.

As you said, this gives the killer free pressure if it doesn't work. So I have no idea why you're so up in arms about this 🤔

  • Man, I thought this was actually gonna be a fun post about perks that people used. Talk about click bait.

  • @Artyomich said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/903219#Comment_903219

Only valid reason is the first one.

The rest is just absurd since I always check which guy has MoM or WGLF. None of them has it post game. This is a recurring theme even before the breakout perk.

Or maybe they're just trying to stop their team mate getting hooked?? That's literally it. You may as well be asking why people sabotage hooks when the killer is carrying a player to said hook...

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't but you may as well try. That's all there is to it. I very rarely body block the killer in this way but the last time I did it, was to save a tunneled Dwight on his last hook and it worked.

  • It's just a bug or lag. I had that happen in a really lag filled game a while back (PS4). Nothing we can do about it until it's fixed or dedicated servers implemented.

This should really be moved to the bug section rather than general discussion.

  • As I survivor I love playing against Myers. I may not survive but still one of the only killers that I love playing against no matter what the killer does.

I haven't played against a Myers in so long and still haven't seen the new cosmetic in action... One day... 😭

  • @PistolTimb said:

If you main one side exclusively, then your opinion is automatically invalid to me.

I only play survivor, mainly because I prefer team play and there's no Dedicated Servers on PS4 so I don't trust my Internet to handle hosting killer. There is a thing called Empathy and being able to understand the other side of the argument, which apparently a lot of people have no understanding of 🙄

So in conclusion, I easily understand both sides despite only playing survivor, shocking isn't it?

You kind of sound like the people you are accusing of being biased hmm hypocrisy at its best 🤣🤔

PS. Loads of sarcasm included, no real harm intended

  • For perks I like BT & Kindred which I find very helpful in general for a mainly solo survivor and sometimes SWF (I play with 1 person with no mic).

    BT - for obvious reasons.

Kindred - it just helps the team to coordinate and know if the killer's close. I don't think I've ever been left to die on the hook with this perk.

Iron Will - this is also good for stealth as some survivors are much louder than others. I'm looking at you Jeff and Jane!! I've managed to lose killers mid chase with this perk.

Recent scenario against a tunnelling killer:

I was playing on Hawkins Lab against a Clown. He wasn't even particularly difficult to play against but he is one of the tunneliest tunnelers to ever tunnel, my god man, he wouldn't stop chasing his target. The most tunnel vision killer I've ever faced. He kept chasing this injured survivor and I tried to help, I body blocked, threw pallets in his face and took hits but he refused to stop chasing this Jake.

And this was my BIGGEST MISTAKE. I should have been focusing on gens and because I spent so much time trying to 'help' I think I ended up majorly F-ing up the teams chance at getting out. Half the team was dead with 2 gens left, and both me and my friend were injured with no way of healing ourselves. If I had just gen rushed we more than likely could have escaped. I will not be making that mistake again!

Usually I just try to be sneaky and hope I'm not found first! But if you're getting tunneled, best advice is to just run the killer around pallets for as long as possible. Use all the pallets if you have to, as long as it keeps the killer away from the rest of the team.

  • It's a bug, I've not played yet but my friend has and said he got a black screen in the basement. Basically it's like a hell zone lol

Nothing we can do but wait until its fixed.

But... Maybe it might be a nice idea to avoid the basement? I have no idea if this effects all survivors or not but this gives you a seriously unfair advantage as killer, especially if people don't know about the bug.

Of course you can still hook people in basement if survivors keep going there...

Regarding frame rate I am finding survivor on PS4 to be better than its ever been. Although I do agree with you its possible to get hit a looong time after you have been through a window. But since I play mainly killer I don't mind quite so much...

The Ruin thing has come back again. That was fixed for a while but now the skillchecks can be laggy again (although not as bad as it was before..)

Killer has always been worse than survivor. I think its better than it used to be but its been so long now, so many ups and downs I'm not really sure!

I also sometimes get the network error when trying to load into lobbies.

I agree, I've noticed the frame rate looks and feels a lot smoother. It's the best it's ever been for me on PS4. I still get the occasional glitch or lag but nowhere near as bad as it used to be.

I used to get kicked out of lobbies all the time and had the infinite loading screen glitch. I literally couldn't play 2 games in a row without getting that glitch but I don't get that anymore.

If they urban evasion around the map i would have tons of fun cause it doesn't normally present a huge issue for me unless it is someone smart with it (hiding in grass or a corner as Claudette is easy pickings for me and is most commonly seen as there are alot of blind killers)

The point of not getting spotted was just me putting the wrong words together, I meant simply to not move in a stupid way which gives the killer your location, sorry for the choice of words I put

The tunneling you explained is a bit stupid in that situation, he downed someone he Should have taken that one, was the original unhooked nearby to begin with? If so, he even more stupid attacking the rest to begin with, I have a tunnel rule I follow cause it works both in my favour for kills and survivors favour as they get more than just 2300 BP, time, value, distance, I can further explain it if you want or after 7th Dec (got banned cause moderator didn't understand my terminology which is fine as s/he isn't a native to the English language and the term I used is British from a not so nice area) I'm putting it as a post for all to make their jokes or further an idea to make it more effective and enjoyable

And yes, the first hooked is just the walking grim reaper, don't even try, that's R.I.P to them

Oh I said that last bit as an attention grabber to a level, what I actually do when I drop rank is use a killer I've not touched so they have a challenge with an experienced player in a weak state of 1 god knows whatever it does perk using god knows how to use power, but not to 20 or even 16 lowest I'll put myself is 15 cause they at least may have already seen it but not with someone that played the game as much, cause using a brand new killer at rank 5/6 is basically a no way to learn toxic fest, and I can't be bothered to deal with toxic survivors feeling accomplished beating a level 1 killer with useless perks and no add ons Vs their.....god perks to be honest, I do play survivor as much as I do killer, I don't drop with survivor (near impossible to be honest it's too easy to rank as survivor #########? Even when torn apart I still pip?) And if I am hooked, then I do all I can to ensure the killer never sees my people cause he aiming for me, I'm too good a target and makes their game that much easier cause that's 1 less, I can at least buy time at god loop and as soon as interest is lost, heal up and try for the attention again for more, or do gen if I get to that point somehow, I accept tunneling as long as it's done right, basically just don't be toxic with it, there are other people killers so chill and you are a better target for a win so expect to die survivors so chill

Fair enough, I get what you mean. There are definitely people out there who genuinely mean 'don't get caught/seen' as if that wasn't obvious! Sometimes you can't help it, you get unlucky and bump into the killer within 5 seconds.

For the tunneller he would camp the area closely when he hooked someone and when they were unhooked he would ignore everyone else even though we were right in front of him and go for the unhooked person.

I did stall the killer a lot but my other teammates didn't seem to be able to hide from him so 1 person was just running 100% of the time. It was in Hawkins Lab by the way so difficult to cover tracks.

Yeah tunnelling if fine as its a legit strategy but it doesn't mean it can't feel a bit cheap and frustrating for the tunnelled person.

@BeanieBoyBob I have not witnessed the great Myers hospital gown as of yet 😭

But one day I shall see it... One day...

Hopefully the DC penalties will deter them. I rarely see killers DC when they are having a bad game or the survivors are doing something they don't like. It happens sure, but survivors DC at much higher levels. Survivor entitlement is absurd in this game.

@ProfessorDunwich There are 4 survivors to 1 killer in every match so it's always going to happen statistically speaking. It's just logic. Can you imagine if there were more killer DCs than survivor? Now that would be something to behold 🧐 I can't count how many killers have DCd against me when they weren't winning, it's a 2 way street. Survivors aren't the all evil but some are abusive a holes who ruin it for everyone. There's a huge amount of entitlement and toxicity in general within this community (unfortunately), not just survivors.

@Laakeri I've also noticed a drop in DCs. Probably had about the same amount of matches last night, if not a bit more:

1 killer DC - I got downed 10 metres away from killer and then killer DCd instantly so it was probably genuine.

    1 survivor DC - my friend's PS4 crashed

So all in all I've seen an improvement, I hate when people DC so this is a good sign 😊

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/108631/bhvr-stop-calling-it-body-blocking

Simple. If you're hiding in a corner and the killer is running at you, move. If you get body blocked in a corner it's your own fault. Had someone complain that I was bad at the game because they hid in a corner, I was Plague and I ran straight too him, he didn't move and got body blocked, so I puked on him and killed him.

Body Blocking is the accurate term, and it shouldn't be bannable because if a survivor body blocks a hook, then they would be banned for the same thing.

@BunnyTheHutt You have the wrong end of the stick here. That's not what's being discussed. If you had blocked the survivor against the wall and then refused to move, purposefully keeping them there to be a douche so the only way they can get out is to DC - THAT is bannable body blocking and what this thread is about. Or in this case the OP is suggesting to call it 'Soft Locking' so it stops confusion.

This isn't talking about general body blocking, like survivors taking a hit at the hook - this can be easily countered by hitting the survivors. A lot of players don't seem to understand that this isn't a reportable offence as its not explained properly in the report section.

The only way I can relate reporting survivors for this sort of thing is:

    1. Using exploits so the killer physically can't get to them or hit them.

Example: hiding in a wall or on top of a rock that the killer can't touch them.

Survivors physically can't body block a killer so much that the killer can't move for the rest of the match. But killers can...

  • Or a casual game mode where all perks, items, add-ons and offerings are random!

It would probably be best if it didn't affect your rank though 🤔 just a fun mode or limited time event. I'd play it!

    Maybe even random cosmetics too.

  • You evil, evil killer 😭

    RIP skill checks

Why hate being tunneled? Don't get spotted and you won't be tunneled, and not killing, you are coddling survivors, I might have to fix this and drop rank to bring hell once more and get actual survivors cause we gonna get survivors have a shock when they hit high ranks and become whining survivors, if you see tearful survivors on about losing to a cheat (I won't cheat) that'll be me, fixing the problem you'll cause, I know you're one person but it's low rank so it could worsen it all

@C3Tooth sometimes people just can't see things from others perspectives so they don't understand, especially if they're new. But that's nice of you to play like that, not every match has to be taken so seriously :)

@vossler25 I'm sorry but saying "Don't get spotted" is ridiculous. I'm sure you'd change your mind real fast if every single match, all the survivors Urban Evasioned around the map and you never saw them? That would be boring for everyone.

And you can't seriously expect NOT to get spotted by the killer 100% of the time. In fact, you will not gain points if you are not chased, so it's pointless. Being stealthy doesn't get you points.

Then you get killers who hardcore tunnel EVERYONE. Last night I played a match where the killer refused to go after anyone but his target. I threw pallets in his face, body blocked him, took protection hits and he STILL went after the other survivor. It was so bad that he downed someone else and continued to follow the person who had been unhooked.

I know for a fact now that I should have just focused all my time on gens and I might have been able to save the other survivors. That's the worst tunnel vision killer I've ever witnessed, but at least now I know not to help the tunneled person if that ever happens again.

Also, that's really mean spirited to purposefully derank so you can dominate new or low rank players. They will learn as they go, they don't need experienced players ruining their games. That will cause people to stop playing, I know it already has.

  • I'm a survivor main and this is the sort of stuff that reminds me why I hate people. Why is it so hard to be a decent human being? I'm glad there's no chat on PS4 so I don't have to deal with this (they need to go out of their way to message me lol).

Bet these are the same people who would never say anything like that to your face.

  • It would be nice to actually explain the terms better in the report section as I had someone get salty at me because I body blocked to save someone. He said I was cheating and he reported all of us. I told him body blocking wasn't cheating and his argument was that "body-blocking" is in the report section. I'm sure way too many people get wrongly reported because it's not explained properly.

I think I remember somewhere on the DBD Twitter that they were planning to add more information to the Survivor health states (like repairing, healing, etc) so you could coordinate things more like SWF. I may also be confusing that with someone's smart idea.

@NeonSystem I hope so! It would help solo survivors so much, or swf with no mic.

Do you think the killer would see this also or just survivors?

  • I play as Steve a lot (I go out of my way to not be toxic) and have noticed I do get picked out by some killers but I haven't been playing much recently so it might have gotten worse?

I think the real problem is that the term 'Toxic' seems to be subjective. One person says something is toxic when it's not and another says its not toxic but obviously is.

In a recent match I decided to body block the killer as he kept tunnelling this poor Dwight. I very rarely body block and only use as a last resort. Dwight managed to wiggle off but my friend got hooked. I think we all escaped even though he hard core tunneled me at the end as I was the only injured survivor 🤔

But it was the best match I'd had in a long time (in terms of gameplay etc.) and all of us got loads of points. So I decided to message the killer and give a gg. He starts throwing salt at me saying we only got away because of cheating. Cheating = bodyblocking. He said he was reporting all of us because we were toxic/body blocking and we'd get banned. I'm explaining it's not cheating but he says it's in the report section - it is but this really needs an explanation so people don't wrongly report others. He totally could have hooked that Dwight if he had been paying attention and not tried to swing at me a 2nd time - his own bad judgement really.

So in conclusion, unfortunately there will always be toxic people but also everyones opinion of what 'toxic' is, is different.

Ironically, picking on players because of their character/cosmetics could also be classed as toxic 😏 everyones a bit of a hypocrite, aren't they?? 😂

  • If a survivor is willing to kill themselves on hook to let their team mate escape, that's their choice and makes them a team player (good for them).

As killer, it's your choice to camp the hooked person or look for the trap/exits. You can't expect to get a 4k every match or you will never be satisfied - same with survivors, you can't expect to escape every match.

Personally, I dislike NOED for the number of times I've cleansed four dull totems in a match only to die to NOED after the last gen pops. Bonus points if it's my first hook or I'm the only survivor to die.

I understand why NOED exists. As long as Adrenaline is in the game, NOED is needed to counter it. NOED punishes rushing through gens and ignoring totems. NOED makes the killer dangerous during what's normally their weakest moment in the game. But that doesn't mean I have to like NOED.

@TragicSolitude I totally get what you mean. I had a difficult match and managed to get 4 totems by myself, I had small game but just couldn't find any more so I assumed they were all cleansed. There ended up being 1 totem left which no one could find and as it was against the Trapper which made it 10x harder to find, even with Small Game. At the end 3 of us died (1 died early) because of NOED.

I don't particularly like Noed as it can feel cheap but it shouldn't be taken out or anything. It's a gamble on the Killer's part and a treasure hunt for survivors - at least it adds something else to the gameplay.
