It shouldn't just be on the PTB because it sounds terrible, and people wouldn't adequately stress test it since they'd stop using it.
They should be doing proper A/B testing where a half the games are on the killers machine, and half are on the dedicated. You don't know which you have until after the game (if you learn at all). This way they keep pressure on the dedicated servers without (hopefully) pissing off the entire audience every game.
And just because the game wasn't written with dedicated servers in mind doesn't mean that it can't be adapted to work with them. Give the developers a little credit where deserved - its not easy - but they're doing it because it was requested FOR EVER.

not very often this is used. what is your point? big piles of car heaps, killer chases, survivors knocked down? why would killer dissconnect for this offering?
This is Haddenfield not the Autohaven Wreckers. Its, in a lot of peoples opinions, probably the hardest map for killers. I still can't imagine many killers would disconnect for it though... But again, make it secret who cares. I've seen plenty of survivors disconnect because of a jigsaw piece.
-
Survivor Rule # 321: Upon hooking a survivor, the killer must IMMEDIATELY move to the opposite end of the map. Do not stop to break the generator they were working on, or the pallets they knocked down, or investigate whipsers, blood trails, scratch marks, or even run towards a survivor who is doing a piss-poor-job-at-hiding.
Survivor Rule # 323: If a killer returns to the hook, and sees the survivors scatter, he must NOT go after the stupid downed survivor who decides to run directly at the killer, because that would be tunneling.

Move the mori requirements to being after the second hook instead of the first. There is little to be complained about if you are morid instead of hooked for your death. Sure, maybe you saved DS or hoped the ally with the flashlight might get the save, but you can't say you got no chance to play. Unless you were directly tunneled off the hook twice....that sucks.
For those that relate the keys to moris, just say the purple key requires that the hatch was already closed in order to work. This keeps multiple survivors from escaping the match together with a purple key.
I support all of that. Although, in this case, as cool as the animations are, I'd rather they be cut out. The benefit of the mori to the killer at this point should be to not have to waste time dragging someone to the hook. It would become an end-game benefit to start cleaning up, and down/kill survivors who think their friends will pull them off the hook again.

What is this song?
The greatest ever written.

I think all the mori's could show up less in the blood web, and I agree that ebony certainly needs some tweaking, but the rest aren't really that big of a deal.
And I agree with @BloodyNights - even I have succumbed to "mori rage" after a particular bad match where I slap on my prayer beads and an ebony just to totally wreck the next unfortunate group. Which again, is part of another big problem with the game, but we've covered that plenty of times.
There is just something interesting about the dynamics of DbD that can make a loss on either side feel WAY WAY more frustrating/cheated/toxic than pretty much any other game I've played. Mori's can certainly contribute to that.
-
Why do you want your mind changed?
-
Time to nerf the Cannibal!
-
I think toxicity on the consoles is less because theirs no end game chat. You have to go through like 4 menu's to find the player, message them, etc. Its just too much work. I'm not really a toxic player, but I always find it kind of amusing when someone goes through that much effort to tell me I suck.
-
You can't fight toxicity with toxicity or giving someone an advantage. It will be abused.
HOWEVER, I would like the idea to "psuedo-mori". This would likely just be flavor, but it'd be cool if instead of having survivors get brought up into the clouds after they die on the hook, to have them hang there for a second... then let the killer pull their body down and drag it around or something. Collect their own trophies :P
-
The perk should just be removed from the game altogether. It was OP at first, now its just lame.
It is functioning as an anti-tunnel perk, but its also forcing killers to slug, and thats not for fun for anyone..
I don't camp, and I try not to tunnel, but when someone gets pulled off the hook, unless I know where a different group of survivors are, I'm going back to the hook since I know there are survivors to hunt there. When I get there, I just go after the first guy I find.
If that happens to be the guy off the hook, I'm sorry. You chose the wrong path, and the other guy did not - or they're a better hider than you. (So many times i feel like survivors are running TO ME off the hook)
But in that case, if I down you, I'm not touching you for a full minute, and that's not fun for the killer or the survivor.
-
And Prayer Beads are a rare item.
-
Having played a lot more killer lately, I don't think most killers actively tunnel.
When someone is unhooked, especially if I'm not near by, I'm going to head back there because thats the one place on the map I KNOW there are going to be survivors near by. I'm simply looking for the NEXT survivor I see - if that happens to be the guy just off the hook, thats who I'm going after.
I'm not going to go look for someone else in that case, because they could be long gone, or are likely much better and more experienced since THEY didn't run right to where the killer is likely going to check.
More than likely, its just bad luck.
-
Clothes. Its cold in the entities domain.
-
Maybe he's a fan and we could get a Shai LeBeouf skin for Legion.
-
We need "Actual Cannibal Shia Labouf" Sprinting on all fours, covered in blood. (Look this up if you haven't)
-
I agree. I'd really like to see more variety in the survivors especially.
-
Ditto on PS4
-
Heck, I'd be fine with it still bring a hex, but dousing that hex isn't imperative to winning or losing, as it feels in many of my games.
-
But this only slows down 3 of those generators vs ALL of those gens. I'm of the camp "powering thru ruin" isn't really an option, especially at lower ranks or non swf groups. My goal here is to try to balance it so it's not just either destroyed right away or totally destroying survs.
-
Xbox & PS4 only.
PC & Switch are too graphically dissimilar or have too much difference in control. A mouse & keyboard PC player will stomp your average console controller player.
-
If not a player count, a "Killer vs Survivor Match Making" count would be nice. It seems to really swing from hour to hour which one is going to take forever to make a match. If there was a (similar to what Overwatch) clock for "Average Killer Wait Time" and "Average Survivor Wait Time", then I'd know to hop into one or the other.

I think we need to work on the dont wake the baby perk, cause if it's a perk it can be taught to other killers, and idk how I can handle seeing the shape bear crawl up stairs.
Otherwise this seems workable
Yeah that perk isn't super viable. What I would like is a perk that helps apply map pressure for killers that aren't super mobile. They only problem with that idea is, of course, it helps the already mobile killers just as much and we wouldn't necessarily see the other killers get more play.
I really like the special power (fake terror radius) and the perk that makes looking at the killer prohibitive.
-
Maybe... but I still don't think they're enough incentive. They need a reason to stay at the rank they belong.
-
Not having fun. These events bring out the worst on both sides, even me. After having two surivors deliberately ignore me on the hook or on the ground (in 2 different games) and killers who've clearly deranked prior to the event, I too switched over to spirit, popped on some prayers needs and wrecked a crew.
Didn't feel good about it.
Going to stop playing for a bit I think.
I wish they didn't announce these in advanced. Too many people seem to try to derank before to get easy bloodpoints.

Lovely how these people suggesting...
“go play another game if you want to play with your friends” “tell your friends to get better”
Are the same ones claiming they were getting bullied in a video game.
So I guess it’s ok as long as it’s not happening to YOU. Right?
Double standard on the forums strikes again.
There were certainly SWF groups that were bullying the lower rank players. But even if they weren't being toxic, going against a group thats highly coordinated, knows how to loop well, and is just playing to the best of their abilities but is WAY better than you, isn't much fun either. One can only take so many "learning experiences" before they decide to just move on.
Again, broken record here, but its about choice and expectation management. SWF groups CHOSE to SWF group. They know what to expect. Killers didn't get that benefit.
-
Gimmie a random mode!
Random killer, random survivors, random perks for everyone - even ones you don't own.
-
Based on queue times, I don't think this game has a large enough player base on each platform to support another mode. Be nice if PS4 and XBox (and Switch - I imagine different graphics capabilities would put them at a disadvantage) could play together. Maybe that is closer to working when dedicated servers come about.
Update: Its in top 10 of Steam though, so I could be wrong.

Hey man, I have the exact same issue as you do. I created a thread about this earlier today, with the suggestion to introduce a new gamemode for "casual" play.
If there are no ways for me to play with my friends we will have to find another game to play. They are simply no having fun in the current version of SWF.

You play a game to have an experience and have fun.
The old matchmaking was bad. But the new one is not better.
Bhvr should just add a debuff to higher ranks of a squad, just like in Dark souls.
I agree 100%, on all 3 accounts.
The new system makes it hard for SWFs of varying ranks to play together, but I stand by the fact that they get to CHOOSE to play in those ranks. They know what to expect. The killer did not get to make that choice.
Not sure how debuffing higher ranks would work - this game has such simple mechanics, tweaking any of them could have pretty drastic effects on the game.
And it still won't solve the deranking problem, which we're now seeing more of too. The problem is they just don't have a reason to stay at the higher ranks.

You are antipathic.
Dbd is a casual game, even if there are "ranks" that are just an input to prove you play a lot.
If ranks were just an input to say you play a lot, this guy wouldn't be making his complaint. Obviously they mean something, or it wouldn't bother him that he and his friends are going against higher ranks.

Dead by daylight is to broken in survivors favour to ever be a competetive game, i mean of course you are competing against each other but it will never be E sports competetive.
But honestly people that is saying this new matchmaking is fine or in your case say i SHOULDN'T play with my friends have no friends...
A game doesn't need to be E-Sports level to be competitive. If this game wasn't competitive, we wouldn't have a forum where 90% of the posts are about this or that being OP, or broken, or unfair. You'd have a forum of people going, "I totally got DSed yesterday, and it was fun, because I just play casually and don't let this bother me." "I don't mind hex ruin, because doing generators is fun and the more I get to stand by one the better. Its so relaxing and casual."
-
You can chose try to play it casually, but IT IS a competitive game. Its one player VERSUS four other players. If thats not the idea of competition to you, then you need to look up the definition.
If he wants to play with his friends in a NOT COMPETITIVE game there are plenty on the market. Diablo, Borderlands, etc.
The minute you start going against other people, especially people you don't know (which is why I suggested they do custom games), its by definition competitive, and its not fair to your opponent or other random teammates to suggest otherwise.
-
<OldManVoice> Because gamers don't understand sportsmanship and that there is actually another person on the side of the TV trying to have fun too. When you don't know them, don't see them, have no repercussions, and have no coach telling you not to be an jerk, people tend to be jerks. </OldManVoice>
-
If you want it to be a casual party game, I suggest you and your friends play the Custom Mode.
-
Oh, you must have found that game mode that doesn't put you against a killer, or a set of 4 survivors.
-
Yep. PS4 here. 4 for 4 on killers playing as hard as they can. Wasted 3 3rd year anniv cakes :(
-
Welcome to the same discussion that been going on for days now.
Like EVERY OTHER competitive, you're friends aren't playing at your level, so you should play a different game if you want to play with them.
-
Yeah. Not sure what it is this time around, but last blood hunt everyone seemed to be getting a long great and making sure we all win, but this time I'm 4 for 4 with killers playing as hard as they can. I generally don't complain, but I've blown 3 3rd Year Cakes just to be hooked and camped.

I would actually love if for just one day, BHV did a "No killers" event just to see what survivor mains would do.
"100% escape rate! I'm amazing! Best game ever!"

And in the lobby the killer can see the survivors and their items and CHOOSE to play against them but suvivors can't see the killer and refuse to play with him. And sure you don't think this is unfair.
I rarely see killers leave a lobby because of items. As @Saitamfed said, you don't know the quality of the items they're bringing in. And now that we know the survivors will either be evenly matched or lower rank, those items are even less of a concern.
There are no items that can make up for the difference in skill between low and high skill players.
Its about expectation management. As a killer, they know they are facing similar rank or mixed-swf, but that none of those swf should be much higher rank than killer. Old system, the killer had no idea what to expect, and the survivors did. It was unfair.
-
If the player base is large enough, I'd love to see a "Quick Match" option, where it just drops players into the first game thats open. You don't get to even see the ranks before or after the match.
I've said it before, but I'd love to see a random mode. 5 players, 1 random killer with random perks (allow ALL killers, even DLC ones you may not have, and perks you may not have unlocked) and random survivors (ditto on DLC and unlocks). Hopefully it would keep everything random enough that killers won't just DC when they show up with a killer they don't normally play.
-
Your newbie friends are CHOOSING to play with you, the killer isn't. Thats the difference. One is a conscious choice, knowing going in, that you may get stomped and may not have as much fun, and one is not.
-
Plus you get long dodgers when you show up in your bloodies
-
Maybe it would be good to show global level in match making so you could tell you experience if the player, if not their actual rank. This could cause lobby dodging, but under the new system it would probably be ok. Why Dodge when a rookie shows up, and this way killer could go easy on the new guy if they want
-
The Giant Baby - Literally a giant baby. Super scary!
It hits you with a giant rattle. Its terror radius sound is of a baby crying.
Special Power: vTech Toys of Annoyance. The baby can drop small electronic toys which mimic the killers terror radius. Upon dropping the toy, it will move in a single direction until it hits an obstacle, at which point it will bouncing off in a random direction. The toys emit a terror radius in an effort to trick survivors into running away, and into the killer's grasp. Add-ons would allow for more than one toy to be sent out, increase the terror radius of the toys, and add to the duration the toy (battery!) stays active.
Perks:
Colic: Causes all exhaustible perks to trigger upon entering the giant baby's terror radius. Barring the player doesn't trigger conditions that would cause them to be exhausted again, the perks will regenerate their exhaustion while in the radius. This effect has a cool down.
Undeniable Cuteness: When looking in the direction of the killer, within the killer's terror radius, movement speed is slowed. (It would make looping harder since survivors couldn't look back at the killer all the time)
Don't Wake The Baby: Missing a skill check while repairing the generator wakes the baby and it can do a (super creepy even in real life!) bear crawl for a period of time. The bear crawl drops the profile of the killer (but not the killers view) so he is more easily hidden behind obstacles and greatly increases movement speed. Missed skill checks also cause more damage to the generator. (I like this because it makes missing skill checks more punishing, and helps the baby apply more map pressure)
-
All these tier lists are ally quite silly. There is an obvious stand out (Nurse), then a few that can keep map pressure, and the rest are generally all the same below them (except Leatherface - hes all around bad).
And TBH, Nurse is only worthwhile in good hands. A new nurse player is awful and super easy to loop.
-
@JawsIsTheNextKiller I agree. It'll help. I feel like a broken record here, but I think they should just get rid of de-pipping altogether. If a killer wants to stay at the lower ranks, they can wait until reset, and then play a more casual game.
-
Old Man Here (well 36) - Kids these days just don't understand sportsmanship. I've found it really interesting to watch the rise of eSports where people generally don't have a coach telling them from the time they start playing, "Don't be an a-hole," and guess what - these people are often times #########.
Sportsmanship is learned, and lets be honest here, most gamers just aren't learning it.
Like watching fighting game tournaments and stuff - pop-offs? If you did that in a physical sporting event you'd be kicked outa the league for a time.
-
Its frustrating, but does any of this really matter when de-ranking is so damn easy and common?
People that want to stomp on lesser skilled players will still just derank.
